Ask in the thread for the Twitter or IRC channel if you want, dudes.
You're Special Agent Declan Cryan, NERV-Tokyo-3 Section Two. You're in NERV-Nevada, standing outside the door of the Fourth Child, Mari Makinami, and there's something going on. The backup you brought from Tokyo-3, Smith, has set out alone to go after a truck loaded with something. Yesterday, someone tried to kill you by bombing a plane on the tarmac that you had just been on. You've been having fucked up dreams, you haven't gotten enough sleep due to the dreams, and you're stone cold sober. For once.

Deciding that rushing off like Smith will only serve to get you, or someone else killed, you review what you know.

1)Following an attempt to abduct the First Child, Russia, or someone in it that could order a fleet around, engaged in a brief game of brinkmanship with the UN, which the UN won.
2)Men personally loyal to you, either from your days in the special forces community or as a mercenary, purged the detail protecting the Third Child when members of it wouldn't stand down according to orders.
3)The mole situation in Tokyo-3 might or might not be taken care of, and there might be more leaks to plug here in Nevada.
4)You're sober.

Either someone is extremely incompetent and you've gotten lucky their incompetence hasn't accidentally killed you, or you're facing a master of a game that you don't know the rules to, is played in a language you don't know, and has a head start, and he's keeping you alive for nefarious purposes of his own.

No one ever said you weren't intelligent, so you could probably figure the game out, given enough time and some leniency. The problem is, you surmise, leniency isn't to be given, and time was up when you took the job at Section Two.

“Jaysis fookin' Christ, that's just peachy, innit.” You check your full-size pistol, CZ-85 and your hold-out pistol, a Walther PPK. The CZ has four magazines, and the Walther has two. You've got a couple options here, you figure. You can try to find Smith so he doesn't bite it, and drag Mari along with you in case the mole situation isn't resolved, or you can give her your Walther and try to find Smith alone, or you can stay right put and hope Smith doesn't bite it. Decisions, decisions.

>Find Smith, and take Mari with you.

Unbuttoning your shirt, you take off the holster for your CZ and extra magazines, then unbuckle the Kevlar vest and shrug out of it, and your shirt. Laying it on the floor, you put your shirt and CZ back on. Buttoning the shirt, you knock on Mari's door with a foot.

She opens it, this time wearing a pair of pants, as well as her shirt, something with a kitten on it, and raises an eyebrow as you finish buttoning your shirt. You lift the body armor and shove it at her.

“The man I brought with me has gone after something on his own, and since I can't protect you and hunt for him at the same time, you're coming with me,” you tell her by way of explanation. Her face lights up and she grabs the armor from, disappearing back into her room.

She emerges about a minute later, with her hair pinned up behind her, now wearing some kind of pants she probably thinks are tactical, and a tank top, with the armor over it. It's probably extremely heavy for her, but she's trying to be a trooper about it.

“No sleeves? All right,” you give her a shit-eating grin. “If we've got to do some crawling, that's on you, then.”

“I can handle it, I'm an Eva pilot!”

“If you say so,” you tell her doubtfully.

>Try to find Smith's last location.

Smith would have been on his way to, or near, Mari's room when you sent him after the truck. NERV-Nevada isn't the maze Tokyo-3's Geofront is, but it's still confusing if you're new, which you are. However, you eventually manage to find where Smith sent his text from, according to your phone's GPS and the text's data. That took some clever working, but when you finally handed it off to Mari, she did it less than ten minutes, leaving you slightly red-faced and definitely surprised.

“So, who's your partner?” Is Smith your partner? No, you haven't had a partner or battle buddy since the Zerberus Battalion.

“No. I chose him to come along in case I needed an extra gun.”

“But you've got two pistols?”

“It's a figure of speech, Mari. I can't exactly use both of them at the same time, can I?”

“You totally could! You'd be like pewpewpewpew pewpewpewpew!” Stifling the urge to strangle a fourteen year old girl, you settle onto the balls of your feet as you examine the corridor where Smith's GPS signal in his phone disappeared.

“No, I wouldn't,” you tell her. “I use both hands to shoot with a pistol. Not one.”

“So give me the other pistol! We could like, totally do this together!” Closing your eyes and rubbing your forehead, you try to fight off an impending headache.

[]Give her the pistol so she'll shut up.

“Mari, you're an officer. Is that for show or for real? Are you actually trained to use handguns? Have you ever fired one outside of the Eva simulators?”

“N-no,” she says slowly. “But the principle has gotta transfer, right?” Right, but you weren't going to let a complete novice handle a handgun when they might shoot you in the back. You shake your head at her, and she wilts.

“No Walther for you, Mari. Just stick behind me. Your safety is a much higher priority than mine.”

“All right,” she tells you. “But I expect to be taught, eventually!”

“Fine,” you agree. “I'll teach you when I'm not trying to investigate something mysterious and keep my man, and you, alive.” She mutters something about holding you to it, as you crouch and examine a footprint left in the dust. This must be an unused hallway, then. The print is that of a boot with sneaker treads on it.

It's heading deeper into the hallway. Grimacing, you check for any cameras and see none. There's no doors, either.

There has to be some kind of surveillance devices here. Cameras can be made tiny, but a laser grid is more likely.

We still have our smokes, yes? Light one. The smoke won't give us accurate locations by itself, but it'll inform us to their presence.

If we have some kind of magnet and a flashlight, we could do non-invasive checks for other security measures, but I'm not sure what our kit is at the moment.

No, it's not your genetics that determine if you can pilot an eva, it's whether your Soul synchronises with the Soul in the eva.
Currently I doubt Cryan's soul could synch with anything.
>>
>>33407678
It might synch with a bottle of Scotch.

>>
Oh god, imagine us getting inside unit 1 after being best father figure for Shinji. We'd have crazy sync rates because his mom's soul would want our dick
>>
>>33407750
If we have Adam inside us, then the Evas (all clones of Adam except 01) might accept us, assuming the soul in the Eva doesn't get in the way.

Unit00 would be the prime choice.

Or we could end up triggering 3rd impact.

>>33407781

Reaching into a pocket on your pants, you pull out your package of cigarettes and Zippo, then light one up. Mari looks extremely interested for a moment, but then you shut her down.

“No cigarettes for you. You're too young to start destroying your body like I'm killing mine.” Using your phone as a flashlight, you check for the reflection of any cameras. There's none that you can see, but they might be too miniscule for that. The smoke from your cigarette has done its job, and indicated there's no lasers for motion sensing or whatever. Only lasers you needed were laser designators for airstrikes.

Wishing you had a magnet to check for listening devices, you motion to Mari. “Yes, we're going. C'mon.” You begin walking forward, and she follows. The hallway isn't dim, but it's not exactly well lit, either.

“So,” Mari begins.

“So,” you cut her off. You can feel the glare she's sending into your back, but you don't really care.

“So,” she continues, despite your attempt. “My grand uncle forwarded me a file on you. He said that there was a mysterious disappearance in Londonderry about nine hours before you shipped for initial training.”

“So? There's mysterious disappearances in big cities all the time.”

“The man disappeared from the apartment you lived in with your mother.”

“So? Disappearances happen all the time.”

“You're a dangerous man in a dangerous field,” she says quietly. “But how long have you been a dangerous man, Special Agent?”

“As long as I've had to be, Mari. It's a dangerous world out there.”

“How long will you be dangerous?”

IIRC you needed to merge the body of Adam with the body of Lilith, and that's basically it, right?

You know T-RIDEN-Ts are actual things that in no way require you to be one of the 'children' to drive it.

>>33408163

There's actually a couple reasons for this. The first is that Leliel didn't really 'absorb' shit. It opened a portal to the Dirac and made the Unit-1 go into it.

Secondly, it requires more of a fusion process than straight devouring. Shoving Tabris' human form into the unit one would probably do the trick, with him driving the apocalypse instead of Rei.

“See, Mari, here's the difference between your grand uncle and myself. He gets to go home to a family and turn it off. I don't. I'll be dangerous until I'm six feet in the ground with my boots on and a bottle in my hand.” You take another drag on the cigarette, and contemplate the hallway further. The light has begun to dim, and when you stop, Mari runs into your back.

“Seriously, kid. Covert ops means shut up with the questions, I'll answer 'em later.” She falls silent, and you crouch, examining the floor. Now there's not dust at all, which contrasts horridly with the coating of dust where a footprint was extremely visible earlier. It's like someone half-assed a secret base in a secret base, and that's interesting, because it denotes some kind of planning, but not enough to be effective.

“And don't use me as a role model,” you add idly. Pulling up a map of NERV-Nevada on your phone, the GPS indicator in it says you're about half a mile east and south of where you actually are, meaning there's some kind of jamming signal in the air, preventing the GPS from updating. That's interesting. Standing, you tap a wall. Dry wall, like the kind used in houses and offices all over the USA and Europe, in new construction.

On a hunch, you put a fist through the wall. Your hand doesn't bounce off of anything, and penetrates the wall with ease. Getting a grip on the edge of the hole, you pull, dragging more dry wall down, and revealing a parallel corridor.

“Yeah,” you grin. “That's what I'm talking about.” You kick the wall, widening the hole you've made, and step through. This hallway is extremely well lit, and branches off to your left and right, with one door further down.

An Impact Event is whenever Adam or Lilith wake up and are active on Earth.

First Impact was Adam and Lilith showing up here originally, Second Impact was Adam waking up from his nap for a few minutes before some balls-to-the-wall heroic scientists put the Lance of Longinus on the back of a truck and rammed Adam with it, knowing the resulting explosion would destroy the entire continent they were on, but that it was the only way to save the world.

Third Impact could have gone down in any number of ways. Adam, Lilith, or both.

What we got was a clusterfuck of multiple manmade plans for how to control Third Impact bouncing off of each other in a competition to take control of the future of mankind, and Shinji got left with his hand on the trigger in all the chaos.

The MP Evas were Seele's insurance that Lilith would heed their call.
>>
>>33408604
Oh shit, I like this. Lets continue training the children through experience

We can also find out if she's better than Shinji or not. Or maybe we can mention that the 3rd child would have figured this out pretty easy

Yeah, the reason Misato is so fucked up is because her Dad managed to throw her into the only escape pod available and she got to see him nuked by ADAM freaking out half-awake when the scientists panicked at his awakening and did that.

She got to look God in the eye for few seconds he was aware and unharmed, and then got thrown halfway across the planet by Antarctica EXPLODING.

Just imagine it.

They perform what is supposed to be a simple experiment. Bring the Lance into contact with Adam, observe if there is any reaction between these two alien artifact.

Adam wakes up. He is more powerful than anything you ever could have imagined. He breaks containment, and starts his journey to the surface, spreading wings of light up into the sky.

Panicked scientists crowd around, trying to figure out what is going on. They see the readings, that Adam is building up a tremendous amount of power. Enough for a worldwide event.

This is the end. Of everything. And they caused it.

But there is still hope. As the earth shakes beneath them, and the sky glows orange, and the base comes down around them, they realize that the Lance is still there. Within reach. And if they can get it to adam in time, they can shut him down for good...

But the numbers don't lie. All that energy he is building up has to go somewhere.

Imagine that feeling, climbing into a supply truck as the cranes lower a giant red fucking spear into the bed behind you. Driving like a bat out of hell up to the surface, to find god and strike him down. Knowing that you are never going to see your friends or loved ones again, but that you raised this demon and if you don't do this now you will lose everything anyway.

What do you think he saw, at the center of the Second Impact? Right before Antarctica became just a memory? Do you think he had someone riding shotgun with him, or did he drive alone?

What do you think was his name, the man who saved the world?

“Hey, Mari. Come take a look at this.” She moves up to stand beside you, looking into the new hallway. You make sure you're covering her with your body, though, in case there's a gunman or six waiting to unleash a hail of lead in your direction.

“What am I looking at?”

“We've got four options, here. We can stay in this corridor, or move into the new one. If we move into the new one, we can go left, double back along the right, or check that door out. What do we do?”

“Me? You're asking me?”

“Third would have figured it out by now. When he wants to be he can be decisive. So what it'll be?”

She dithers for a moment, and then finally- “The door.” You step into the corridor, and she follows quietly. The walk down to the door is brief, and when you arrive, you take a knee, and pull out your phone. Using the blank screen as a mirror, you check for anything under the door. There's nothing you can see from your position, but that doesn't mean there's not something out of sight.

Standing, you try the knob. It turns, easily. You ease the door open, fearful of a bomb connected to a 55 gallon fuel drum the entire time. When the door finally settles open with no explosions sending shrapnel lancing through your body, you breath a quiet sigh of relief, and step through into yet another hallway.

“I'm getting sick of this hallway shit,” you tell Mari.

“Right? It's soooo~ annoying.” Looking at her out of the corner of your eye, your eyes widen when Smith steps out of a shadow, a little bruised, but fine.

“Christ, sir, but did you have to come after me? I made it out fine.”

“Well, Smith, it's in my nature. Never leave a man behind, never let a man go in alone.”

“Thanks, sir. I surely do appreciate it.”

“No problem. Now tell me what you know.”

“I heard one of the men I was tailing mention something about an engine. I wasn't very close, before one of them on a smoke break found me.”

“Damnedest luck, but then that's how it goes. What else did you find out?”

“Someone's authorized an activation test for the Unit, despite the UN mandating that was to take place in Japan. I couldn't get a time, but I got a date- four days from now. What do we do?”

“Activation tests can be dangerous, can't they, Mari?”

“They can,” she confirms with a nod. “But they're also not supposed to happen without higher approval. Does Commander Davis know about this?”

“Probably not,” you say. “I'm not sure if we want to tell him, either. If he says something to someone else, that could blow everything to Hell.”

“Well,” Smith contemplates. “What do you think is best?”

“No clue,” you say cheerfully. “Any idea, Mari?”

“Well, if the activation test is four days from now, I'll learn about it eventually. I'm the Pilot, after all. So they'll tell me. When that happens, I'll tell you guys, and then you can stop it, right?”

“Sure,” you say. “Unless they drug you while Smith and I are asleep or something and shove you in the entry plug without telling you what's going on.”

Smith looks at you for a moment, and then, quietly- “Why would you think about something like that?”

“I'm paid to.”

“Oh. Anyway, Mari's idea is a good one. We'll just have to trust that they don't drug us and then her.”

“They wouldn't want to show their hand that open. They'll tell her.”

“You're probably right,” Smith allows.

Was Unit 4 the one that left a massive crater behind after a fuckup, or the one that turned into an Angel during the activation in Canon?

In either case, this seems like the worst kind of bad news. The kind that hurts the kids.
>>
>>33410388

I think it was the one that turned into an Angel and ate Shinji's friend
>>
>>33410388

No.

It was Unit 03, the silver one, that created the Dirac Sea.

AKA, Mari's current unit.
>>
>>33410388
>>33410440

Wait, yes, it was Unit 04 that blew up. Mixed up my numbers.
>>
>>33410388

>>
>>33410404
Nah, that was Unit-03. Unit-04 was the one who pulled all of NERV Nevada into a Dirac Sea when its S2 engine overloaded during an activation test. Unit-03 was the one that got the VD.
>>
>>33410388
00 is Rei's unit
01 is Shinji's
02 is Asuka's
03 is Toji's (eaten by angel, then 01 with a dummy plug kills and eats it)
04 is never seen, but is destroyed upon activation, sucking it and all of Nerv-2 into a Dirac sea.
>>
Have we heard anything about the S2 implantation?

I think we need to scoot and GTFO on the carrier battlegroup.

And then rendezvous with the UN Fleet ferrying Asuka and 02.
>>
>>33410263
She may be into the operator stuff. But is she capable of doing it?

She strikes me as the type to break under mild interrogation, and we have to ensure that she trusts us at least, we did break her entire expectation of an operator last thread. If we are going to protect her, we need to have her trust. That means valuing her personal space.
>>
>>33410440

>>
Friendly reminder, we had a way of checking to see if Commander Davis was compromised: We were going to covertly contact the Sub-Commander to see if ether he or Gendo were contacted by him, like he said he was going to on the sly.

If he didn't, or the version of events we got was different than what they were told, then we know Davis is in bed with the bad-guys, willingly or coerced.

He let us get on with our job didn't he?
He didn't ask many questions did he?
He let us have access to our files and restricted information didn't he?

If anything, we seem more mole-ish than him at the moment.
>>
Well, the answer is pretty simple.

The activation test is in 4 days? We ship out in 3.

Get in contact with Lee, and have her fly Unit04 to the carrier group. If anyone has any problems, Mari pulls officer rank and tells the techs that the schedule has been moved up.

It would be a little bit more dramatic to have Unit04 set up for the activation test, and then instead of activating, just grand theft eva it out of there.
>>
>>33410877

You're going to blindly trust a man who has openly stated his family means more to him than any of this NERV shit?

A man who has near absolute control of the Facility we're in?

A man who would betray all of us in a heartbeat if his daughter was threatened?

Shit, the fact that he DIDN'T ask that many questions about why a dead man showed up, told him to stay quiet, and then went underground is highly suspicious. ESPECIALLY since our file says we're basically only good for killing people.

It would take one phone call to become almost completely certain he's clean, and you're debating that?

We have someone with POWER in NERV, possibly even SELEE gunning for us. Now is not the time for assumptions.

Now is the time to be more paranoid than a Veteran Shadowrunner in a Back-stabbing contest at a Dragon convention.

“Let's keep exploring,” you decide. “For about an hour and a half. Also, Mari, how in the Hell can they reschedule the activation test without telling Commander Davis?”

“It'd be hard, but if people inside the base are receiving two sets of orders- one from Commander Davis, and another from their actual boss, then it wouldn't take much. A specific word in an advert in the newspaper, say, or a letter from a relative.”

“Then whoever gets that can let everyone else that's in on the plot know. What if the Commander does know, he just doesn't know the UN has said he can't activate 04?”

“It'd be easier to block a specific email, maybe, than a huge conspiracy,” Mari thinks out loud for your benefit.

“This is highly fuckin' irregular,” you decide as you lead Smith . “Mari, can you call the Commander and ask about an activation test? Don't let him know the UN has said Unit-04 is to be activated in Japan, either.”

“Sure,” she says easily, and pulls out her phone, dialing, you presume, the Commander. “Hey, Jeff,” Jeff? First name basis? “This is Mari. I heard one of the Eva's techs talking about an activation test. What's up with that? Oh, really? All right, cool! Thanks!” She hangs up, and turns to look at you.

“Well?” You ask.

“You're probably tired and not thinking straight,” Smith says. “We know the UN's said one thing, and the Commander has orders for another, but it's possible someone's emails got mixed up, or the UN's sent another notice changing things.”

“He's right,” Mari chimes in. “Human error happens all the time.” By now, the hallway has turned out to be a dead end, ending in another empty hangar.

>>33411400

>>
Hey, security guy from a few threads ago here. I just wanted to point out that any kind of visible hit would be a bad idea.

Eva units and Pilots would be priority one assets to an organization like NERV. They will drop everything else to protect something like that, which would be bad because those are the very things we're trying to abscond with.

Think of it like trying to steal a nuke: Anything we do that would trip security means increased protection on the nuke, 100% of the time. They will pull everyone off of everything else and start handing out guns to civvies before they let a nuke get stolen, and Evas are if anything higher priority.

Now, conversely, making it look like a hit on priority one asset is a great way to make an escape. If the asset is secure, nobody's going to chase the guy leaving, you know, for future reference.

We should, assuming we're going need to take hostile actions against NERV Nevada, do things like rig their communications, transport, and power systems (Not the generators, the just lines) to be disrupted in a non-critical fashion by some sort of remote or timed event. We want to hit their ability to react AS or AFTER we make our move, not before.

The best way to blow an Op like this is by fucking up the engagement. They can't know we're going to move until our plan is being enacted, and then they need to be hit by delays and distractions while we make a run for the (metaphorical) border.
>>
>>33411624
Actually the border in this case is pretty real, since we're trying to get to San Diego.

So, if I understand you correctly, the only way to make a distraction big enough to steal an Eva is to make a show of kidnapping the Pilot? Then, if I'm still following, to steal the Eva while they are busy with the pilot, and then while they are trying to chase two rabbits we would disrupt their comms, transport, etc.
>>
>>33411760
Why the hell are we planning to kidnap a pilot and steal an EVA? Aren't we meant to be protecting these things and ensuring their safe transport?
>>

No, we can't touch the Eva or the pilot. If they detect ANY credible threat, they're going to lock down everything they have. If they only have the Eva, they are going to hang onto that, since they could always theoretically find another pilot.

A better plan would be to hit the safety-overrides and have Mari make the most out of an Eva's 5 minutes of untethered active operation running. Or having them load it onto a truck by intercepting orders and having the Cargo-Techs move it to a shipping bay instead of the testing grounds for activation.

We can't make any kind of VISIBLE effort against anything until we're reasonably sure we can secure both Eva and Pilot enough to start running away with them. That's why I said any sabotage would have to be either triggered remotely or on a timer, so that they don't see the lights go out before we're running for the door.

>>33411849

I'm laying out the best possible way of doing so, because we have reason to believe pilot and Eva are both in danger. So stealing them from compromised NERV assets WOULD be 'protecting and securing safe transport'.

“Mari, let me borrow your phone.”

“Why?”

“I need to make a call.”

“Use your own phone.”

“I'm supposed to be dead, Mari, I can't. Someone's probably monitoring it.”

“So? Use Smith's.”

“He's supposed to be dead too.”

“So?”

“I swear to fooking Christ, if you don't hand me your fookin' phone-” She shoves it into your hands, and stop talking long enough to find the business card Admiral Jackson's secretary slipped into your pocket. You're about to dial the number when Smith stops you.

“What if we steal the Eva and Mari? We could probably make a case for them being endangered, and we're attempting to secure and protect them.”

“I don't think we need to do that just yet. How did you get roughed up like that, Smith?”

“Guy that found me tried to scrap. We went three rounds, before I knocked him out. I found a bottle of alcohol and left it nearby. When he wakes up he'll think he just got drunk.”

“Well done, then. Wait, I thought Unit-04 was supposed to go to Japan on a specially designed aircraft?” Mari shrugs, and looks uncomfortable.

“Funding was cut,” she finally admits. “The US didn't want to develop it when all it was good for was carrying Evas or bombs, and they've already got B-52s and B-2s.”

“Fucking Christ. What about the UN?”

“Funding is allocated to other things.” Holding up a hand to forestall further conversation and your desire to swear, you dial the Admiral's office and get his secretary. After a brief talk where you wind up promising to take her to dinner next time you're in town, you convince her to let you speak with the Admiral.

“Admiral Jackson here.”

“Sir,” you greet. “It's Cryan. If I were to say you needed to have a carrier group ready to go in three days-”

(1/2)
>>
“I'd tell you it's flat impossible. It just can't be done.” Off the top of your head, you can't recall if a C-130 can lift fifty five thousand tons. You ask the Admiral.

“Ha. An aircraft lifting 55k tons? I'd fight my hardest in Congress to make it happen. But like I said, a carrier group can't be prepped and ready to go in three days. Why do you think we keep at least three out to sea at one time? The original timeline for a week is still good, right?”

“I think so, sir.” Sighing, you thank him, and hang up.

The call to Subcommander Fuyutsuki doesn't get bounced like you expected it would in the hangar, and you can tell the time zone difference has pissed him off.

“Agent,” he greets.

“Is there supposed to be an activation test for Unit-04?” You get straight to the point, since he seems pissed.

“Yes. In Japan. As soon as it gets here.”

“Does Commander Davis have a family that could be compromised?”

“An adult son serving with the UN Peacekeeping Forces in Brazil, but Davis understands both he and his son are in risky positions and that if something happens, his duty is to humanity.”

“Previously you said he would do anything for his family.”

“Perhaps I should have clarified- he understands risks and that both he and his son are taking them with their positions. Anyway, I highly doubt anyone could compromise the son in Brazil. Have you seen any of the recent reports out of there?”

“I have, yes sir. As for the test, there's supposed to be one in four days.”

“Oh? That's interesting. Perhaps the Americans just want to check it works before sending it to us? Whatever you do, Agent, if that activation test does happen, ensure it goes off successfully.”

“Yes, sir.” He hangs up on you.

“Well,” Smith offers. “What if we create a set of falsified orders to the Unit's techs to load it onto a train bound for somewhere in the East, like Mobile or New Orleans, then we can hijack the train and head for San Diego, where we'll uh, borrow a carrier or transport frigate from the Americans somehow.”

“I hang out on a weapons board! There's one guy that has multiple varieties of Kalashnikov! It's soooo cool when he dumps his images!”

There's a lot you could say to a fourteen year old girl spending most of her time on the Internet. You don't. Instead you begin leading them back to the inhabited part of the base, and set your mind to the issue of sabotaging an Evangelion's activation test. First, you need to know more about them.

You could ask Mari. She's a pilot, she's probably got firsthand experience, after all. Or, alternatively, you could check the files you have access to and see if there are any on the Evangelion's activation tests.

“Well, it's supposed to be and I only know the theory because we totally haven't run activation tests before, haha, that's silly!” You look at her, and she squirms uncomfortably under your gimlet gaze. You look at her, and then you grin.

“Right. Silly. Not to mention highly illegal for everyone involved, right?”

“Right, haha! Anyway, it's supposed to be we plug the Eva into the power system, and then they plug me into the Eva, and then we turn the Eva on and we start synchronization, right?”

“Right,” you nod, and motion for her to keep going. She nods enthusiastically, hair bouncing.

“So then it's all plugged in and synchronized, and then we start putting the Eva through its paces, walking, jumping, a little shadowboxing.”

“And then what?”

“That's it! If I'm lucky they might let me use the pistol so- I mean they might let me use the pistol some when we do the activation test, the first one! Right?” She shoots you a hopeful smile, and you look away uneasily, unable to meet her gaze.

“Right. The first test. Four days from now. In the completely untested Unit-04.”

“Ha! Wait till I tell my uncle who Section Two has protecting me!”

“Pish tosh! I'm the pilot of a 175' foot super weapon that weighs over fifty tons. If I want a cigarette, I should damn well be allowed to smoke a cigarette.”

“I'm not your parents. Take it up with them.”

“Mom's dead, you prick, and Dad's off in London, lobbying Parliament for more funding for the Royal Navy.”

“Really now? That's nice.”

“It is! It's so cool, he's like some kind of super Commander or something. He got promoted during a fleet action off Finland, to go with his medal!”

“I remember reading about that while I was outside Munich for an operation. We put a stop to a Russian fleet trying to bombard Helsinki, or something, right?”

“Right! Russians were trying to land VDV or something in the city to capture the Finnish government and force them to capitulate, but Finland invoked Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, and the fleet we had up there was the only one close enough to do anything.”

“I get it, I get it. Your uncle earned his spurs during the Wars, just like most of us.”

“Yeah!” You can tell it's going to be a long week, what with the sabotage that might or might not be happening, possibly having to steal a giant robot, and dealing with a fourteen year old girl. Arguably, that last is the most horrifying prospect.

>>
>>33415686
>destroying her and then picking up and rebuilding the pieces
Er, nah.
>>
>>33415512

The primary reason she hasn't dated since him was because he pretty much fucked her worldview on romance beyond repair.

She doesn't date because she thinks the only romantic value she has is 'sex-object'.

>>33415510
>>33415525

I wouldn't drop the quest over this, personally, but taking Misato off the table means ALL the Waifufags will be focused on one of the children.

Ignoring the fact that it's a felony and half the named characters would LITERALLY kill us for it.... It honestly just doesn't make any sense. Asuka being interested would be nothing short of a total personality re-write, Mari is already eye-gougingly irritating, We cannot read Rei's moods for shit.....

That leaves two dudes, one of whom is an angel who wants to destroy the world, and the other is a normal human who might ACTUALLY destroy the world.

"Nah. Nothing's set in stone. Besides, you've been drinking, haven't you?" Yes. I have been drinking.

I dunno at this point it seems to me like going for anyone is not to be attempted, but later one we'll see.
>>
>Unless you guys kill Kaji to take his place in Misato's heart. And bed.

If we're sticking to their canon relationship, Misato still has a thing for him but they don't get back together until after they reunite when Kaji escorts Asuka to Tokyo-3. So Cryan still has a chance.

>>

Yes, but those gaps are usually between adults.
>>
>>33416350

Plus if we go after Rei we could take Shinji's place at the end
>>
>>33416302

It isn't. It seriously is not legal.
>>
>>33416405
Thought that in japan it was 14 for consent
>>
>>33416063
Right, so we'd be love rivals with Kaji then. It's not like they immediately get together when they meet.
>>
>>33416404
To me, Rei had a brother-sister relationship with Shinji. So she'd still do that for him, probably.
>>
>>33416018

So would it be illegal in Japan to get with any of the pilots?
>>
>>33416433
It is, but prefectures have their own AoC which is 17-18, IIRC.
>>
>>33416469
I guess it depends on if Tangfag wants to keep the different prefecture's laws now after the 2nd impact. A lot could have changed in Japan, its all up to him I suppose
>>
>>33416494

The only reason the national age hasn't raised is because the effort is pointless when all the different prefectures already have them.

If it went national, AoC would raise pretty much immediately.
>>
>>33416544
We're talking in hypotheticals here though. Tangfag has the final authority on this matter
>>
Given the fact that half of the human population was wiped out in Second Impact, on top of the worldwide declining birthrates, it would be pretty easy to justify a lower age of consent in-setting if you guys were serious about waifuing one of the pilots.

Granted, I still think we should go for the Magi, but I just wanted to throw that out there.
>>
I'm in discussions with a friend of mine about the age of consent issue and the laws regarding thereof. In my head I've got the world's population at 3 billion following the 2010 censuses.

I'm gonna say I'll meet you guys in the middle- It's fifteen in most civilized nations, including Japan, and you can get married at sixteen.
>>
>>33416608
See, this is the kinda logic that I could see Tangfag using as well. 2nd impact fucked the world, morals might be a bit thrown out the window
>>
>>33416618

So that means the pilots are all off limits then, since they're all 14 right?

Just checking to see if we really do need to share Misato or if we've got a date with a giant scary lady who likes to look like our mom
>>
>>33416638
Go lilith or go home.
>>
>>33416638
I really shouldn't have said Misato was off the table.

And honestly, I've known plenty of couples that started fucking before one of them was legal. It really boiled down to if the parents or District Attorney wanted to play hardball if the kids got caught, or not.
>>
>>33416618
>I'm gonna say I'll meet you guys in the middle- It's fifteen in most civilized nations

Good, so the pilots are still underage.
>>
>>33416649

Rei is technically lilith
>>
>>33416618
So it's okay to waifu the pilots, we just can't fuck them until near the end of the quest.

I'm fine with that.

>>33416638
