Sorry for the late start, got a bit caught up trolling the Warframe forums. Place is a joke, haha. Trying to foster some more butthurt by just blocking mods now, they seem to not approve of that. Anyway.

“So what's in the fridge?” You ask, letting your pack thump to the table as Mav heads for the refrigerator used for leftovers and snacks.

She opens it up and hesitates for a second, looking around. “Uh--- Bigass pot of something, couple drinks, looks like some chicken, and... ooh! Dessert!”

“Yeah, how about you leave that for last. Drink me.” You say, holding up a hand on your second sentence.

Mav, responding by reflex, slings a can of coke at you- fast enough to do damage if it hit a soft spot. Fortunately, you're able to catch it, the sting of it's impact causing you to shake out your hand as you set it down.

“So what's in the pot?” You ask, as she pulls it out and opens it up.

“Dirty rice? Lotta stuff in it though, looks like it's a meal on it's own.” She answers.

“Sounds good. Get a spoon, I'll get the plates.” you say, standing up and heading to the cupboard. “But get it all out here. I'm hungry.”

She nods, turning around as you set the plates on the table and take a look into the pot- she's absolutely right, the rice looks like it's practically a meal on it's own. The chicken, meanwhile, is fried- and while you're no great fan of cold fried chicken, right now you're more than willing to make an exception.

“Georgette didn't cook this.” Mav says, halfway through her second piece of chicken- bitch took the three drumsticks you saw, though, on the other hand, she did leave all the breasts for you, so you won't complain too much.

1/2
>>
You shake your head, agreeing- there's too much spice in it, and you can't really see Georgette making fried chicken and dirty rice anyway. “My money's on Brigitte.” You say.

Mav nods. “Yeah, she's been talkin' bout doing us up proper. Her words, man, don't look at me like that. It is pretty good though.”

“Georgette's cooking is still better.” You say, though you're saying it just to be contradictory.

Mav responds in kind, holding up a wooden spoon like a sword, her other hand holding the remnants of her second drumstick in her mouth. “Fite me bitch.” She demands, brandishing the spoon.

You have to work not to choke on your food.

“Oh, so there's Frank!” Alyssa interrupts the moment, her prosthetic leg making a light tink noise as she enters the kitchen. “With Patty? How scandalous.”

“Oh, completely.” Clarissa says, not far behind her sister. “We're all shocked. We never thought you two would go for each other.”

“You know, since you're so busy elsewhere.”

Mav just shakes her head, declining to comment, and tilts her head towards you. “Francis, you wanna field this one?”

“My name's not Francis.” You protest. “But since you've got your mouth full like usual...”

“You promise not to make us laugh, and We'll listen. Otherwise we're gonna run you both out of here.” You say, emphasizing your warning with a stolen drumstick held menacingly at them.

“Oh fine, be all businesslike.” Alyssa complains. “Tabby wanted to see you.”

“About work.” Clarissa adds.

“Well, kind of. It's about work and the things Samantha's been doing.”

“Oh, and Brigitte said she needed to talk with you too.”

“Brigitte?” You ask, trying to get mav to say something about the drumstick. For her part, she just grabs another piece of chicken from the plate.

Alyssa nods. “Yeah, Brigitte. Something about Sammy? I don't know, she wouldn't say.”

“Could be worse.” You admit. “Hey, any idea where we could scare up a squadron hack?”

Clarissa nods. “Yeah, actually. There's a little boneyard at Wattisham, up north. Looked like there was a couple of birds that'd work up there, but you'd need to check for yourself and most of them would need work. There's supposedly a big boneyard out near Bristol if you want to go check that out.”

“That might actually be fun.” Alyssa says, after a second. “Hey, let us know when you go.”

You nod. “I'll try to. So, it was just Ice and Brigitte?”

1/2
>>
Clarissa shrugs. “And Sammy, but she always wants to see you. You see the shop she has? God, I'm just scared of what will happen if someone gives her a team to work with.”

Alyssa looks at her sister. “Shit, she's practically already got one, the Vought guys love her.”

“How time critical is this?” You ask. “I've still got shit to do for tomorrow.”

Alyssa shrugs this time. “Tabby sounded like she wanted you as soon as possible-”

“Lewd.” Her sister interjects.

“Brigitte didn't make it sound too important, but that's Brigitte. She's kinda weird. Sammy, eh. You know Sammy.”

[x] Guess I'd better get moving, then. (who do you want to go see first?)

You sigh, then stand up, carrying the drumstick with you. “Guess I'd better get moving, then.” You say, sadly looking at the plate of food. While you're sure there's still going to be some left, you'd have liked to have gotten a good meal in, though the four pieces of chicken you did have will last you a while.

“The boss up in her office?” You ask, standing up and grabbing your bag of loot. Mav looks at it, then at you, then shrugs and digs into her dirty rice.

Alyssa shakes her head. “Down in the hangar, or Sammy's wizardry tower.”

“I wouldn't call it a tower. Maybe a lair?”

“Maybe they should give her the messed up tower! I heard they were thinking about renovating it.”

You shake your head, walking out the door and turning down to head to the hangar.

There's a slight commotion down here, with a crowd of witches- some you recognize, some you don't- standing around the roll-up door separating Merlin's shop from the rest of the hangar. You're lucky, you think, that you're as tall as you are, standing over most of the witches pretty easily. It makes you easy to notice.

“Frank!” Ice calls from inside the shop. “Hey, over here!”

A couple of the witches in the crowd half-turn to get a better look at you, and they move out of the way as you pass. The boss is on a striker rack, one of the two housing Merlin's testbed units. You notice the boss is barefoot- a sign either she's been in the strikers or she's planning to be in them soon.

“Heya boss, you wanted to see me?” You ask, gnawing absently on the drumstick. She eyes it, and you offer the half-eaten piece of meat to her. “Drumstick?”

“Thanks, I already ate.” She says, and you shrug, going back to chewing. “Change of plans, you suddenly became a lot less interesting.”

1/2
>>
You narrow your eyes. “What are you on about?”

She indicates the prototype. “The Matrons and the Navy want to see these in action yesterday, and they're willing to scrub your flights to do it. You'll square off against Natalya at the end of the week, then you're on the hook to help us put these through their paces.”

“Why does that sound boring as hell?” You ask.

“Probably because for you, it will be. They'll want to see it in action against you, though.” She says, standing up so you have to crane your neck back to look at her. “Here, watch out, I'm going to start them up.”

She mounts the units with practiced ease, and you can hear the slight hiss of something pressurizing. When she does, along with the low whine of hydraulics. “Adjusting the fit.” She says, when you look at her quizzicaly. “So here's the deal. I have to take these up to a range to start showing them off. Admiral Nixon is chopping his way here right now, I want you to stay put and greet him with Slider. Informal, don't worry about a dress uniform, he said he's flying in.”

You nod, taking a step back as she starts the strikers up and retrieves their weapon out of the rack, connecting the feed from her right side unit to it, then slinging it and reaching for a MFD and HUD headband. “As soon as he lands, he's going to want to join us up there. Get with Slider for flight planning, I'm leaving her back here to help out. And find Mav, I need to talk to her. Got all that?”

What you on about? The new shit they want to see is all of two threads old, meaning they are a few days old at most. The "research" was a Matron thingy. Hell the only thing I can think of that we screwed anyone over with was the sparkle detecting radar and that was for good reason.

Alright, check this out.

1) We passed up an opportunity to keep gnome/witch synergy or whatever we have going on an American-only thing.

1a) We did so in favor of what's turned into a huge-ass multinational research thing, which is, perhaps fortunately, going nowhere.

2) We (and Ice) accepted honors, title and grants from a foreign (albeit allied) power. This is potentially a big issue.

3) Oh, and there's what Merlin's up to. Bear in mind that one of her more reliable techs is a foreign national.
>>
>>33432739
....fuck
>>
>>33432739
>1) We passed up an opportunity to keep gnome/witch synergy or whatever we have going on an American-only thing.

Personally, I doubt that would ever happen long-term, but that's my own opinion. There's concerns, sure, but one of the big issues is an American matron who will go out of her way to sabotage us or otherwise screw us over.

I don't see keeping things strictly American as being viable or even sensible, given that issue, and its unlikely to go away anytime soon, if ever.

>1a) We did so in favor of what's turned into a huge-ass multinational research thing, which is, perhaps fortunately, going nowhere.

Give it time, I think you'll likely end up eating your words on it going nowhere, but that's again my opinion.

>2) We (and Ice) accepted honors, title and grants from a foreign (albeit allied) power. This is potentially a big issue.

Not seeing the issue here either, particularly since that falls under the "special relationship" or whatever that's supposed to be shared between us and them, but I suppose some other anons might better explain exactly why it's a big issue.
>>
>>33432739
Yea, I got the feeling the brass is going to be rather annoyed with us.
>>
>>33432739

1b) In doing so, we pulled 2 of the most advanced steel-wings from the front-line. Ditto for half-a-dozen combat witches. Not to talk about all the foreign witches running around in Barin.
>>
>>33432739
>3) Oh, and there's what Merlin's up to. Bear in mind that one of her more reliable techs is a foreign national.

That can be mitigated once she marries him.
>>
>>33433005
With the shit he is working with, still gonna need a big fat security clearance.
>>
>>33432681
Ok that makes more sense.
>>33432739
>1
While I prefer what we ended up doing, I do see this is an issue but I doubt it's going to be that bad as if it was we would have likely been pulled pretty fast. The Navy let alone Nixon has the clout to do that if they saw it as a issue.
>2
We may very well get into some trouble over this. IIRC Congress has to get involved when it comes to foreign titles and such.
>3
Recent development, while any info that has already been shared is uncontrolled I'm sure there is rules that can be put in place to protect any further development. Kenji was presumably signed off by the Navy to join the squadron on a exchange, he is cleared.

We had little control over 3 specially the new stuff, number 2 is the only thing I can see us getting into deep shit with and that can be mitigated. 1, 1a, and 1b here>>33432998 are non-issues as if the Navy had an issue, they would NOT let it happen.
>>
>>33432998
You realize that would have happen if we went to America, right? There was no way they were going to just pull Frank/Merlin out and that be it. The only difference is more American witches would have been pulled off the fronts instead of one two witches from allies/non-allies.
>>
[x] No prob, boss. ETA on the Admiral?

“No prob, boss.” You say, feeling a mix of emotions. On the one hand, it's good that you're no longer the subject of everyone's intense scrutiny, on the other hand, you're not looking forward to being relegated to a chase role in a whole new series of displays and tests- especially if the program is moved back to the US. “Any ETA on the Admiral?”

She checks her watch- a small piece just between her MFD and her hand. “Probably about two hours, he said he'd be flying out of London.”

You nod.

“And listen I-” She pauses, then shakes her head. “I want you to do me a favor. Go talk to Matron O'hare. She's been the one that's listened to me the most, and she's been the one that's helped us out with the rest. She had some findings she wanted to talk about, but now I'm afraid I won't have the time.”

“You want that done now?” You ask, having to almost yell over the high-pitched scream of the strikers.

She shakes her head. “No, you don't have to now. Besides, you couldn't, she's going to be in the air. But make some time for it.”

You nod.

“Ok, that's it. Do me a favor though and change into a clean flight suit at least, before you see the Admiral. What the hell were you doing anyway, rolling around in the dirt?” She says. “Nevermind, don't tell me.”

She unlocks the strikers from the rack with a practiced movement- you can't help but wonder if that's standardized across all units, and glides forward between that gathered witches, leaving you, for a moment at least, alone in Merlin’s shop.

The moment doesn't last.

“Baron.” Brigitte greets smoothly as the crowd disperses, their look at the newest striker over for now. “I be needin ta have words with ya.”

[x] Talk and walk, Brigitte, I gotta change.

“Walk and talk, Brigitte, I gotta change.” You say, heading back towards the stairs leading into the castle proper.

“Dat be fine. Lesten, de leedle one, Samantha, she be a problem.” She says.

You pause. “What do you mean?”

“She a security risk, baron. De aerospace boys, dey to anxious to turn her loose, let her play. Dey only seein de potential of what she can do for dem, not what happens if someting git back to people what it don't need to be gittin back to.” She says, shaking her head. “She already done turned dese witches on dere heads wit her strikers, and dey be havin Roosians with dem.”

“You think they're taking notes?” You ask.

“Baron, I be worried dey try to take her.” She says. “Don't go tinkin dey your friends cos one's de momma of a girl who be wantin you next to her at night and de other tinks you a warrior god. Dey still Roosian, dey still be lookin out for deirs first.”

“So what do you want me to do?”

She pauses. “Baron, I need ya to tell her to wait. I want de aerospace people gone, and I want her playhouse sent back to de states to wait for her. I don't be thinkin she be listenin to me, but she be lookin at you like her idol. She be listening to you, I tink.”

You pause. “She wouldn't take that well at all.”

Brigitte nods. “I be knowin dat. If I be havin another idea and givin you an option, I would.”

“What about the matrons?” You ask. “They'll complain.”

Brigitte looks at you, her eyes cold. “Dey not bein a problem, I see to dat personal.”

You're starting to get the distinct impression there's a lot more to this Cajun witch than meets the eye. That look makes you really, really glad you're on the same side as you change.

Dressed in a fresh flight suit, you find Brigitte waiting outside your door, cleaning her nails with a combat knife. She smiles when she sees you look at it warily, and sheathes it at the small of her back.

“Don't be worrin bout dat none, baron.” She says, dismissing it. “I do no be thinkin you die so easy, even for me. You need ta worry bout yourself more, I be thinkin.”

I think we need the security expert on hand for this one, simply to help us figure out what can be done in a secure way. Merlin's not gonna want to give up her lab completely.

She may very well have to until we get back state side. I don't think there's enough personally under Brigitte's command to watch, her(Merlin), her gear, her lab, the squads gear, and Frank. Something got to give here and the lab/stuff she's working on is it.

And remember there is a war going on. We've been fairly sheltered from it being here.

[x] That's what they all say. Well, let's go talk to Merlin. Not looking forward to this.

You shake your head. “That's what they all say. Well, let's go talk to Merlin. Not looking forward to this.”

“You tink I am?” Brigitte says. “It goan break her heart, I know it. But I don't be havin the girls to be watchin her, an you, and de squadron's gear, an your fighter, and her lab, and everyting else. I'm not even sure I be trustin her boyfriend, he be hidin something I tink.”

“Like what?” You ask.

She shakes her head. “I don't be knowin, so I don't be actin on it yet. An I be askin you to keep it to yoursel, too. Don't be needin to ruin her whole world on a hunch and a worry, dis be bad enough as is, I tink.”

Brigitte leads you back towards the kitchen- you must have just missed Merlin. Sure enough, she's in there with Mav, raiding the chicken. She looks up and smiles when she sees you- though her face falls a second later at your expression. “W-what's wrong?” She asks.

“Merlin I-” You start, but Brigitte steps in with a short laugh.

“Baron, don't you be takin credit for my ideas, now. Dis be from me, little sistah. Not de baron.”

You pause, thinking about your wording now. “Brigitte and I were talking, and we'd like you to send your lab back to the US to wait for you.” You say. “Brigitte thinks that what you're doing could cause trouble if the wrong people got ahold of it.”

“We not be tryin to be doin ya dirty, little one.” Brigitte says, though you've noticed Merlin’s expression is one of vague relief. “But we be worried someone be tryin to grab ya or your strikers, and dat's too much.”

>>
To your surprise and great relief, Merlin nods. “I-I know. Kenji s-said the same thing. I got carried a-away a-and now it's a problem. I-I'm sorry.”

“Dere's noting to be apologisin for.” Brigitte responds- an instant before you do. “You be blessed to be havin all de gifts you do. We just askin you to not use some of dem right now, dat be all.”

You nod. “Besides, think of what you could do with a full shop, stateside!”

She smiles. “Y-you think they'd let me h-have one?”

You return her grin, reaching out to ruffle her hair- though she's got the presence of mind to hold onto her glasses as you do. “Kiddo, I think they'll be begging you to take one.”

You're able to snag another piece of chicken before Slider stops by. “Hey, Nixon's due in a couple. C'mon.”

“You be a cold one, snek. Takin a man from shiken like dat.” Brigitte scolds with a laugh. “For true, dat cold.”

“I'm sure I'll make it up to him later. C'mon, you can come too, since you're here.” Slider responds.

[x] Might as well grab Merlin and Mav too, let's bring the whole gang.

You look back over your shoulder at the two witches, and shake your head. “Oh no, I'm not leaving you two to eat all the food. C'mon, you can come welcome the admiral too.”

Merlin nods and stands up, but Mav casts one longing look at the now much-reduced plate of chicken, then stands up. “Fine, but I'm only doing this because you rank me. And it's under protest. Sir.”

“Hey, so, who all knows about your nickname for Yo-” You start, before she cuts you off.

“Now, don't go getting hasty on me. Uh, I mean, Frank.”

You laugh. “S'what I thought.”

“Anyone ever tell you you play dirty?” Mav asks.

“I play to win.” You correct.

The helicopter- a navy Seahawk- touches down on the pad without much trouble- you briefly envy the pilots, being able to land anywhere like they are, but, thinking about how ugly they are, and how slow and relatively boring their flight profiles are, you quickly re-think your admiration. Still, you run forward to help the admiral with his bag- a standard, OD green Sea bag tossed out of the door by the old man, before he steps down, one hand on his cover to hold it in place against the downwash.

You grab the bag and greet him with a handshake as the 'hawk pilot pulls collective and lifts his bird off the pad. “Good to see you, son! Glad to see you haven't gone completely crazy here!” He says, returning your salute, then offering a handshake. “Barin does that to pilots, ya know. Makes 'em crazy.”

“How can you tell I'm not, sir?” You ask, laughing.

1/2
>>
“Son, if the worst you've done here is managed to get knighted, get every single aerospace company in the states screaming for the navy to release your RIO from her contract-” He pauses, looking at Merlin. “Hello, hon. You're quite popular, you know?”

She nods, and he laughs.

“And-” He continues, his train of thought apparently unbroken. “And found out your CO was the inheritor to the Russian throne, I think you'll have come off a lot more sane than the last pilot I knew who flew out of this base.”

“Who was that, sir?” You ask.

He laughs and shakes his head. “Army widow driver, back during the war. Caught him sneaking aboard for, get this, Ice cream.” He laughs again. “Things were different back then.”

“Sounds like it, sir.” You respond, carefully.

“So!” He says, clapping his hands together and rubbing them. “I hear there's been some interesting developments here. Care to fill me in?”

Hmm well according to wikipedia being born on US soil is automatic citizenship. If born overseas it still applies if the parents are married, at least one is a citizen and had lived in the US at some point prior. If the other parent isn't a US citizen it gets a little more muddy, but basically it amounts to paperwork.

Far as I can tell the only way Merlin could run into issues is if she is both married and has a kid before she turns 16. Which is unlikely.

Imperial Japan apparently handles citizenship patrilineally, but I have no idea how dual citizenship would work in this situation.

>>
[x] Yes sir, maybe we should use the commander's office? It's more secure.

You nod. “Yes, sir. Let's head up to the boss' office, she's out right now, but it's more secure.”

The admiral follows you up, talking with Brigitte- the two of them seem to know each other and it seems like she's about on the same terms with him you are, so you take that as a good sign.

You naturally take the futon, sitting in the center and leaning back- though you have to check your motion to stretch out when Merlin sits to one side of you and Slider to the other. Brigitte, thankfully, shakes her head, laughs, and sits in one of the chairs in front of the desk, leaving Ice's nice chair for Admiral Nixon.

“So, son. Lot of stories we've been hearing. Can you fill me in on some of them?” He says.

“Where do you want me to start, sir?” You ask.

“How about with Matron Longstreet. She's been raising cain about how you sold secrets that rightfully belonged to America to foreign powers and worked to undermine her efforts to create a unified American tradition.” He says. “It's pretty serious, even if we're getting alternate stories about this from the Matrons of a lot of allied nations.”

1/2
>>
“I wasn't aware I'd sold secrets at all, sir.” You say, honestly. “And I thought this had been done with the Navy's explicit permission?”

“Atlantic command's permission, yes.” He responds. “But Atlantic fleet falls under me, now, and I'm less inclined to let my best air combat assets cool their heels in some old castle.”

“You mean-” You start, and he shakes his head.

“We can't back out of any promises we've already made, son, but we're damn sure not going to make any more. If they haven't gotten what they were after out of you by now, they'll just have to wait. But, Matron Longstreet has been very insistent you've turned against the best interests of the American government and the Navy.”

[] “Sir, all due respect, she's trying to make herself more important and she's just screaming because I won't play her bullshit.”

I have to go with both because she was trying to blackmail Ice to get to Merlin so she could then claim credit for any discoverers that can be found from Merlin, which would be a huge boost to her reputation. When that backfired on her she continued to withhold Ice's property out of spite.

It's not even necessarily what she was withholding that was important; that she was even blackmailing a navy officer to begin with is pretty damning.

Slider uses her brashness to cover over her lack of experience.

With Ice, there's her submissive streak.

Katya's an exhibitionist.

So Brigitte's appeal must be NTR. For all of Frank's other, more established suitors. Just imagine the three of them crying and fingering themselves outside Frank's room as he nails his new Delicious Brown Best Girl.

[x] “Sir, she was attempting to blackmail Commander Kazanski by withholding her property that established her link to the Russian throne. She's trying to keep the heat off herself.”

You take a breath, trying to figure out how best to phrase it, before deciding 'fuck it all' and just letting go. “Sir, she was attempting to blackmail Commander Kazanski by withholding her property that established her link to the Russian throne. She's just trying to keep the heat off herself.”

Nixon shakes his head. “Son, witch politics are ten times more dangerous than the rest of humanity's. You went and got involved in them?”

“Sir, I'm just relaying why she's so insistent on any wrongdoing on my part.” You say.

He nods, thoughtfully. “Well, she can, and probably will defend that as internal witch business, but at the same time I can't recommend we remove you from duty for acting on behalf of your commanding officers. Especially not when it's internal witch business. If they have a problem with you, they can handle it.” He says, as if closing that topic of discussion.

“Now, about Miss Wells' incredible rise to prominence in the circles of aircraft and striker designers.” He says, looking at Merlin. “I've had no fewer than a dozen handwritten letters hit my inbox from the directors of every major aerospace company working in the US- to include Marstech- asking us to release Lieutenant Wells from her contractual obligations and allow her into the civilian market, or, failing that, assign her in advisory capacity to one of them.”

He looks back at you. “Frankly, son, I've heard some impossible things on the way in. What's this about super strikers and some kind of magical weapons bay?”

[] Let Merlin field it, afterall, they're her designs.
[] “Sir, Merlin's made a series of comprehensive upgrades to both the striker platform as we know it and the Wyvern. I don't fully understand it all myself.”

[x] Let Merlin field it, afterall, they're her designs.

You jostle Merlin with an elbow, and she looks up at you, then looks at the admiral.

“W-well.” She says, hesitantly. “I-I, made s-some changes to s-strikers. I g-got to thinking about h-how they're just parts of a s-system, but our fighter they're based on is a w-whole system by itself. I-I just tried to copy that.”

Nixon nods. “So what all can these new strikers do?”

“W-well. They c-can house full sized m-missiles, about a-as many as one of our small bays on t-the wyvern per striker. W-we designed conformal pods f-for ammunition and utility, s-so we can attach countermeasures o-or ECM or even some rockets f-for ground attack.” She continues, warming up to the subject. “W-we also designed a n-new helmet that combines t-the MFD and HUD displays they h-have, a-and worked missile controls into their weapons.”

She looks at Brigitte. “W-we found a way t-to work with personal w-weapons Brigitte, b-but we didn't get any built yet. M-maybe if we keep the shop a day o-or two more.”

“Wait, so you're telling me you designed strikers with the ability to carry full sized missiles?” Nixon asks, leaning back. Merlin nods.

1/2
>>
“Jesus, that's...” He shakes his head, awestruck. “That's huge. No wonder they were after you.”

“W-well, that's not a-all. I a-also designed an e-extradimensional bay for the w-wyvern. With i-it I think w-we can carry f-four times the weapons payload.”

“Four times-” Nixon asks.

“B-but it needs a witch.” Merlin finishes.

“That-” He pauses.

“What bout going back to the states? Do you want to? I'm ready to cut orders for you right now if you want.”

Merlin shakes her head vigorously. “N-no! I w-won't go home w-without F-frank a-and everyone else.”

Nixon nods. “I'd figured you'd say that.”

He leans back again. “That's the big two issues for now. Your titles and holdings we're not going to start with because as far as we're concerned, that's witch business. Now, if you don't mind, I need some chow and I need a bed.”

“I know the feeling, sir.” You say, laughing. “There's some damn good chicken down in the kitchen.”

You're not sure who looks happier to hear that- Nixon, to hear about the food, or Brigitte, about the compliment to her cooking.

"I didn't think the mountains would look that pretty with the sunset reflecting off of them."

"It's the snow on the top," he told her. "Just like ice or water. 's pretty." With a tilt of his foot, he set the hammock rocking again, as the sun went down in Wyoming.

"As pretty as I am, Emmett?" she asked, her familiar's ear flicking his nose. Scrunching it, he scoffed.

"Ha! Nothing's as pretty as you, Missus Ramsey."

"Flatterer," she grins up at him, and rests her head against his chest again.

"Shamelessly," he tells her cheerfully, and they both fall silent to watch the rest of the sunset.

So at first, this was just going to be a short. A dirty short. I might still take it that way (onscreen, that is) if I feel up to it. If so, expect a pastebin for the smutty stuff. In the meantime, here's the start to what might be a longer thing.
Maverick was out trying to forget Orion again.

Three hours, two bars, and four drinks in, she was starting to have a little luck. The music thumped, the lights strobed, and the Japanese club scene was roughly what she expected it to be. The local color was certainly interesting enough, but nothing--and no one--was jumping out at her. She had a reputation to keep up, dammit. But so far, no one in this bar or the one that came before it stuck out to her any more than the Synthpop rattling her glass.

And that was when she saw her rack.

"Oh, yeah," she muttered to herself, downing her drink as she stood, "that'll do." With a target for the night--a pretty redhead in uniform, it turned out--the Lieutenant put on her best military swagger, and sauntered over to her table, getting a better eyeful as she went.

A natural redhead in the sea of dark hair or exotic dye-jobs populating the nightclub, Maverick's buzzed mind dove immediately for the gutter, wondering faintly if the top and bottom matched. The girl was a standout in more ways than one--cool and calm with a tall glass of beer, surrounded by giggling kids with fruity mixed drinks. And sweet lord, her curves. Her bomber jacket (genuine?) couldn't hide them as she leaned over the bar, a low-cut little black dress clashing grandly and perfectly with her coat and her surroundings. Maverick recognized military bearing immediately, and it excited her even more. This was going to be fun.

"Hey there," she said with a Suave grin, "you don't look IJN. What are you doing in a place like this?"

The first thing Maverick noticed was the eyes--turning sharply to fix her at the intrusion, sizing her up. She recognized that look. After a moment, the redhead grinned and replied, with just a hint of a... German? Accent. "Little girls, mostly. Haven't found a real woman in the bunch."

"You have now," Mav replied, slipping in to the spot beside her. "What's your outfit?"

"Luftwaffe," said the redhead. "Katherine Young." That raised more questions than it answered--Maverick caught on to the game immediately. Leave her guessing as to her rank, or if she was special forces.

Maverick grinned back. "Patty Mitchell, United States Navy. What brings you out here?"

"Visiting family friends," she replied, taking a long, slow sip of her beer before cringing theatrically. "Bah, piss swill. Tell me, Miss America," Young asked, "you know anywhere I can get a real drink in these islands?"

Mav's grin widened. The hook was set. "Maybe," she offered. "Come on, let's get out of here. And call me Patty."

Despite her complaint, Young lifted her glass and drained it swiftly, slamming it back down on the counter and wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "Lead the way."

>>
>>33440017
Read line 5. And think of what rank she is.
>>
>>33440038

but MSC is likely Magical Systems Crewman
>>
>>33440081
>>33440038

Yeah, it's not how you abbreviate Master Seargent. That's MSGT
>>
>>33440081
very likely, seeing as it says exactly that...
>>
>>33440017

Untrue. At no point during thread 19 was Rockfield pushed away from the Scorpion. She was told to do her research and make an informed decision.
>>
>>33440259
what were her choices again? would she be able to crew the tank if she didn't do the scorpion?
>>
>>33440281
yep, she would just need a wheelchair to get around outside of the tank
>>
>>33440314

Right, cheers anon.

(Still faster to ask in the thread)
>>
>>33440281
Yes, the difference was waiting for a healwitch to become available (which is odd, in every quest theres always one right around the corner) which IIRC was said to be a wait around the 6-8 month timezone, the scorpion would just get her walking again before that

I hope she went for the healwitch though, that would be the smart thing and she would still tonking it up
>>
>>33440365
I remember it being said that while heal witches aren't rare, ones with the skills to heal an injury like her's are, and they are busy with others parts of the war
>>
>>33440449
One would think an integral member of a cutting edge frontline SOF unit would be important enough...
>>
>>33440449
Pretty much this. Healwitches themselves aren't all that difficult to find, but the ones who can fix up major damage are the very experienced/very powerful ones...and they're rare

Only reason Fronk's alive is because he was afforded access to a witch of that sort of caliber
>>
>>33440525
Also even if you can find an expert witch these things still takes time. Georgette is one of the best and it took her a long time just to get Fronk to the point where he wouldn't spontaneously die. And it took Yoshika a whole day to fix Young's liver.

>And it took Yoshika a whole day to fix Young's liver.

Any bets Oldshika is the Sakamoto's fanily doctor in '89?

At least he isn't shooting blanks.
>>
>>33441554
I'll try to avoid it. Although I have to admit, getting the tone down for this is pretty tough.
>>
>>33441661
he probably does, knowing his tastes he's got to be sterile, no one that terrible should ever reproduce
>>
>>33441680
You're not having any fun. See, the NTR writer is actually having fun, I'm having fun, but I don't see you having any fun.
>>
