Even after the fall of the patriots, the war economy was perpetuated by those formerly under it's control. The former largest Private military company, Outer Haven along with many of the major PMCs, splintered. The sudden influx of new PMCs sparked a war that set the 3rd world aflame with combat.

Outer Haven was replaced by another, World Marshal Incorporation, which had expanded past a normal PMC's boundaries, branching into Government and forcefully privatizing police forces. Some in the corners of the world, away from their influence, wondered if countries would eventually bow to PMCs.

You were a part of this world. Whether by choice, or if you were forced into service through circumstance. You were a cyborg, parts of your body replaced for "improvements". Deployed to some 3rd world combat zone, you could see little here that you would not find in hell.

The blades of the helicopter made a deafening wop-wop sound as you came to the landing point. You feel a little uncomfortable at the sound, the new augmentations to your senses threw you off, it was loud enough for you to think it would hurt, but you could no longer feel pain. It was somewhat confusing.

Your feet landed on the ground as you jumped from the helicopter, armed with your weapon of choice, your HUD updated you on your objective. "Please move to the objective" the automated voice from your contractor stated. You think back to your contractor, unsure if it was the best idea to join up with such a corporation.

"Don't worry, you'll be told exactly what to do." Spoke a voice in an Alabama accent, as you took your first steps into the battle field. The picture before you was one of a developing African nation, the scorching heat reflecting off of newly made windows, and the eyes of young ambitious individuals, unscarred by war.

"Your objective is to secure a train, it'll be our escape point after kidnapping a certain someone" A deep chuckle followed afterwards. The objective was pictured on your HUD, it was up quite high in comparison to the road you were dropped off from, it'll be no match for your new body though.

You looked down at yourself, you had decided to go with a non-standard cyborg body that was....

>Exoskeleton
You aren't actually a cyborg. You simply have a suit which gives super-human attributes.
+No initial cyborg parts
-Weaker than every other option

>Soldier
Humanoid, very few enhancements. Multiple variants
-Only slightly stronger than exoskeleton
+Easiest to enhance
+Most "comfortable" and easiest to get used to
Specialization (Pick one)
>Stealth
>CQC
>Ranged Combat
>Size and Armor

>Cyborg Battlemech
Non-humanoid, for losing your lower half you gain a huge battlemech with large combat potential
+Strongest option
-No stealth
-Limited manuverability
-Limited perception
+Larger size
+Battle oriented enhancements
+Most suited to heavy numbers warfare

>Cyborg Ninja
Built for stealth. Humanoid.
-Weakest durability and in warfare combat
+Excels in stealth missions
>>

You were not exactly a Cyborg. You decided instead of going all the way, you chose an Exoskeleton, a mere suit. Maybe it was out of fear of losing your body, your control over it, and your senses. Maybe you just liked your body as it was. Whatever the reason, that was what you chose. "Come on!" The voice said across the intercom "We haven't got all day!"

The abilities given by the suit however, were more than sufficient to climb the vertical rock face in front of you. Trying out it's superior agility and strength, you simply started running on the side of the wall upwards. It was a little harder than you thought, you pushed the machine suit to it's limits, but even that wasn't enough. At the very end you began to lose momentum.

The very ledge of the cliff was almost within your reach, but your foot began to slip, panicking you had to think of something.

Cursing the suit's inability, you reach out with your chosen weapon and try to gain a grip on the rock face.

The arm mechanisms on the exoskeleton were enhanced, you had requested it specifically. With a grin, you smash your fist into the rock, embedding your fist into the wall. You throw yourself up with your hand, landing near a train tracks. You knew that the train was going to arrive soon, as you were briefed personally by your superior.

"Most people would have taken the stairs." You could feel the voice over the intercom was pleased "I like your style kid!" Smiling a little, he continues "We'll be there soon to catch the train, make sure no one will get in the way!"

Given these few minutes, you reflect upon your past, and how you managed to end up here.

>Child soldier.
You ended up fighting in some rough 3rd world country back just before the ages of PMCs, managing to distinguish yourself in those days, you were finally free of that life when order was established.
But war seemed to call you back to battle, maybe you were always trapped in fighting?

>Ex-Military
You had served and fought in your nation's army, although whether it was retirement, discontentment, or warcrimes, you left the military and ended up joining a PMC.

>Criminal
Perhaps you were part of a corrupt regime, a gang, a crime syndicate, whatever it was, you dealt with the unethical, and you loved it.
Eventually after sustaining a serious injury, you decided it was better to work with a PMC due to the danger reasons

More choices incoming.

Your past was filled with the virtual realities of the Patriots. You had killed, at least according to the records you had found back in the lab. Millions of digital enemies. You had committed Genocide since you were three years old. Although you had several state-sponsored therapy sessions, you never managed to fit in, be normal, be...human.

That being said, you never actually killed anyone, or had any real life experience, until today. However, you were assured by a large bald man that you'd do fine, as he slapped you on the back during the briefing. You didn't really respond, just mumbled a small "Yes sir" back.

As you stood there, your thoughts clouding your mind, you heard hostiles behind you. You got into a hiding position as quickly as you could. You knew you could easily beat nearly anything the enemy threw at you head on, but your training kicked you into it.

Two African teenagers, barely men, walked onto the train tracks wielding AK-47s, they talked with each other about girlfriends. It seems the one with red hair had an older girlfriend, who had large breasts. You were unsure of why this was a merit however. That and you had your orders.

You would have to kill these two men in order to progress. As you jumped forwards, the two saw you, and one of them shouted out...

(This chooses your gender)

Charging forwards, you fly over their heads as they aim at you. Quickly, and precisely. You throw your hands towards the enemy, catching their heads as you begin to land. The sound of the bullets firing. The shouts of panic and pain get your blood racing.

THIS was where you were meant to live. The patriots had trained you well, for your birthplace. The two brats struggled underneath your hands, dropping their weapons to try and force your enhanced fists off of them.

You grant them that mercy, after plunging your fingers into their brain matter. Your fingers puncturing their skulls as easily as a hot knife does butter. They drop to the floor, the only blood was on your fingers, and leaking out of the holes in their heads.

A small voice enters your head, breaking out of your little trance you hear a voice. It was not one of your commander's, but rather someone more....elegant? "That was amazing!" His voice cried out "You were like a desert wind, stripping everything of life as you moved."

"What's your name, new recruit?" the voice asked "I think you'll do finely in Desperado, as all the strong do!"

"Null Gene" You start to respond with all the emotion of a machine, before quickly noticing your mistake. Quickly trying to stutter out your supposed given name, you're interrupted by the man "I've read your bio Null! I have great expectations of a man like you." His voice full of mirth "An Artificial man placed inside the wilds, I wonder how nature will treat you!"

"I am Monsoon, of the Winds of Destruction" Monsoon stated over the intercom "I will eagerly await to see you in action against an actual opponent."

Then the connection was cut before you could say anything more. You have heard the Winds of Destruction was a powerful part of Desperado.

Your thoughts were however disrupted by a large and continuous noise. It was the train, rattling down the tracks. Getting into position, you readied your ranged weapon, your mission was to pick any obvious military off of the train as it sped down the tracks.

However, it was one of the weakest of the available weaponry. Unless you gained some special ammo you would not be able to effectively kill much more than a hardly armored cyborg.

As the train approached, on one of your knees, you picked off the few military figures riding the train. They posed little threat to an enemy they could not see, considering the range you were firing at. They fell as routinely as the ones in the simulations.

One shot, and they fell. Move to next target. You continued this for only a single minute before the end of the train was in sight. "Alright boy, Get on the train, we'll be meeting you in a coupla minutes after we're done with this guy" and you obeyed.

Jumping onto the train was only a little harder than exterminating the enemies so far. However.....something was strange, you had been briefed that the enemy was stronger than this.

You could hear a voice. A small voice. It was coming from the giant containers towards the back of the train. Deciding to approach it to check for enemies.

But as you approached, the door was sliced apart, and two men in black tuxedos charged out at you.

Preparing yourself, you ready your counter attack.

>Counter with your fists (DC 65)
>Evade their attacks (DC 35)
>Retreat back and shoot at them (DC 45)
>Parry and disarm the enemy (DC 60)

I was typing for half of it, since there was an overwhelming majority for rifle.
Sorry for not alerting you to when I started typing.

All of those were melee options except for one. The next were all ranged I voted exosuit and for a rifle since they seemed like the most 'normal', which is great to make the quest harder.

I don't think people voted for a rifle so they can go melee. If anything, it would've been a vote for a pistol or bow.

>>33542276
And we have a crit failure.
One more roll to counter it is available.
Pray to your gods.

Just saying but if you're going to go with 5% crit on best of 5, you're going to have a VERY swingy quest. There's a reason why people don't really do a crit on 1/20 for five d20 rolls.
>>
>>33542387
Haha, oh wow.
>>
>>33542387
Ahahahahahaha fuck.

Well, nice quest, guys.
>>
>>33542342
Why not just take the rolls that were rolled during the voting? It would be a lot faster that way.
>>
>>33542387
>>
>>33542407
Dont worry, it wasnt the last roll

>>33542417
Yeah.

I suggest you make a 1 & 100 crits. Not 1-5 and 96-100. That makes like a 40% chance of crit.
>>
-5 for crit fail and 95+ for crit success is fucking garbage.

Just getting it out of the way
>>
>>33542407
We're probably going to lose the rifle.
>>
OP will need a new thread after next post if he doesnt end.
>>
>>33542395
I think you should switch mechanics. You're basically using best of 5d20 which virtually ensures every single roll is a crit, which quickly leads to schizophrenia regarding character competence.
>>
>>33542417
This is what you chucklefucks get for rolling before you are asked.
>>

Its best of 3 rolls with Crits counting up till the fifth post

The two tuxedo-cyborgs charge forwards, you attempt to run backwards but find yourself against a wall. Trapped, you couldn't move unless you jumped. But before you can jump one of the tuxedo cyborgs knock the rifle out of your hands.

Then he pins your arm against the wall with his body, letting the other cyborg aim his machete directly at your head. With no escape, you couldn't dodge, it was coming too fast, and you couldn't move due to being pinned against the wall.

Was this the end? We'll see, when I make the next thread.
>>
>>33542532
See this is why I wanted grenades. We could have avoided this if we'd just blown the whole train up.
>>
>>33542569
Maybe you should have made that suggestion earlier
>>
>>33542569
The train was Sundowner and company's escape route.
See: >>33538911
>"Your objective is to secure a train, it'll be our escape point after kidnapping a certain someone"
>>
>>33542569
Really, noone could've known how good the bow, rifle and everything were. I chose the rifle since it seemed like the most rounded option.

I think plastic explosives would've been more appropriate. Or missiles.
