“Wait wait wait,” you say, stopping everyone’s chatter. You still have a headache, so you rub the side of your head with your palm. “What’s even the difference if I say I’m the new demon lord versus if somebody else? I mean, basically what you’re saying is I’m not doing anything either way.”

“Not so,” says Mr. Crowther, leaning forward. The lemony aura of excitement continues to radiate from him, though his voice remains flat. “If you assumed the lordship, then you would be the seat of power. You would choose the members of your conclave, and you would have the final word in all matters.”

Waldric flashes a tired look at Mr. Crowther. “If we allowed her the fief, she certainly should be making any decisions with it. No offense intended, but Sierra is hardly fit to rule. Administrative decisions would best be left in wiser hands.”

You kind of squint at him. “Yeah, I’m not so hot at making decisions,” you agree.

“That’s what conclaves are for,” says Mr. Crowther.

You look back at the Magister. He seems to know all about politics and demon law and everything, at least compared to you. “So,” you say, “you’re like, smart and responsible and stuff, and I guess I trust you more than Waldric, no offense intended.”
>>
>>33557938
Waldric gives you a bored look. “You’ll have to try harder than that to rustle my feathers.”

You ignore him. “And,” you continue, “running the county or whatever is already like, your job. So, you know, why shouldn’t I tell Ranthix to let you rule stuff?”

Crowther’s expression is indecipherable. “I cannot be both Magister and the Lord of this province. I would have to resign first, and I would rather keep my current position,” he answers. “I can do more from where I am at the moment.”

“Don’t listen to father and Waldric,” says Maviel, extricating herself from her boyfriend’s arms to face you fully. “San Fransisco doesn’t need governing by a demon lord. You owe them nothing.”

“Exactly,” says Waldric. “It might be nice to have you lend your name to my cause, but I can do well without it. In fact, a quiet reign would allow me to solidify my position here, and ensure the continued peace of the city.”

“Yeah,” you say, “but I don’t know what the hell that means.”

“I have people I trust,” says Waldric. “I would build a conclave and use the influence to keep San Fransisco free of demonic meddling.”

You narrow your eyes at him. “You’d call your demon friends and have them ship over here,” you say.
>>
>>33557944

“A few, yes,” says Waldric, sounding tired of having to explain to you. “Of course, Mr. Crowther would have a seat in my council. And if you’re really worried that I’ll make like Meckor and make problems,” he says, smirking at you, “maybe you should sit on my conclave as well. You’d be aware of what I was doing. And I suppose if I ever did step out of line or what have you, you could ring up Isaac and have him lop my head off, if you weren’t in the mood to do it yourself.”

You chuckle at the thought. You could probably manage it if you were at 100%. Though you’re not sure you’d be the best at overseeing Waldric’s plots. He’s kind of a subtle guy sometimes. He’d probably be able to get away with stuff even with you there right by him. If Crowther was helping though, that’d probably hem him in. You know, maybe. You wish you knew Waldric better so you could judge what he’d do with that kind of power. Mr. Crowther seems to trust him, so maybe that’s something.
>>
>>33557959

Wolfgang leans forward so you can look past Moriah and look you in the eye. “There’s something nobody’s really telling you here, Sierra. In Halth, your mother’s name has a lot of weight to it. Even if you took the title of demon lord and just sat on it, the mere fact that you were here would warn off a lot of potential agitators,” he explains carefully. He sits back and shrugs casually. “I don’t mean you should take the fief, but it’s something you should think about.”

“Man, there’s a lot of stuff it looks like I should be thinking about,” you say to yourself.
>>
>>33557965

“Maybe you should think about this first,” says Moriah, looking cautiously at you. “You shouldn’t let anyone influence your decision. You would regret it later if you didn’t make up your own mind.”

>I want no part of any of this crap. I’m not a vizier or empress or duchess or whatever. Do what you want, Wally. But I get a hint you’re stepping out of line, I’ll do the same thing to you that I did to Meckor.
>Waldric, I guess I don’t know you that well, but you’ve got your heart in the right place at least. If it wasn’t for you this city might be a smoking ruin right now. I mean, I’ll help out if I can, but I’ve got a lot on my plate right now. You have a plan, right?
>I’ll do it. Like, I won’t be doing anything, but, if people thinking I’m in charge means people’ll be safer? Don’t have to worry about what the bad guy’s doing if I’m sitting in the bad guy’s chair, right? So. Yeah, I mean, it’s not even a question, is it?

I'll admit that I like the thought of acquiring fief, but I want to at least get some input from the nearly 100yr old demon slayer.

I agree, let's call Isaac first.
>>
>>33558218
The main problem I have here is that we don't know any demons who are really good for this.

The only ones with experience are kinda shady at best and the only ones we really trust are either just as inexperienced as we are or are Ranthix.

We delegate advisers and we end up in the same situation where we have Wally and Crowdaddy pulling shit under our nose and maybe it's not totally evil but it's the same thing we'd get if we just let them rule except it has our name on it.
>>
>>33558269
Ranthix probably knows a few loyalists.

Just imagine it. More Ranthixes.
>>
>>33558218
Why the fuck would we want the whole hell to know about us? It will just draw a bulls-eye on our back. Do you people not realize it or just choose the ignore the risk? Sure, maybe it will scare aware the little ones but pretty much everyone who can be intimidated with our name alone will not matter much even if they decided to come.

“I need to think about this,” you say, putting your head in your hands. “I mean. I can’t even handle being a deputy marshal. Isn’t this like, a bigger deal than that?”

“In some ways,” Mr. Crowther replies. “In others – in the ways you worry about – no.”

You groan to yourself. Why are you always put in these kinds of situations? (+4 Stress: 16/100) “I’ll probably do it. Like, I won’t do anything, but that’s the point, right? Everybody gets to be safer just because I take the bad guy’s chair and sit in it,” you say lowly. “I mean, I’ll need to think about it, yeah. But if it’s me or Waldric, then… I guess I’m it.”

“Hold on one minute,” says Waldric, furrowing his brow. “You’re going to be the baroness… so you can do nothing.”

“Thank goodness for that,” says Maviel, her jaw mandibles shifting into a smile. You think.

“I didn’t say anything yet,” you say. You need to think about this. You stand up and walk out of the room, feeling taller than normal. But that’s probably because your feet are longer than you’re used to. Whatever.

I think Isaac will want Sierra not to take the fief. He was already regretting he dumped too much responsibility on her.

I say take it. We're still young, so make Crowther our Regent. Waldric will be our Chief Adviser, he seems to be the sort who wouldn't mind being the power behind the throne. Ranthix is our Marshall and right-hand man. Moriah can be a Lady in Waiting, if that's even a thing.

Are they, though? A high-ranking demon telling everyone what's going on will probably be effectively the same thing - and that's not taking into account the fact that Sierra/Ranthix would have to openly back Waldric anyway for him to take the seat. The announcement's made, the question is what terms it'll be on.
>>

We should probably ask Waldo/Ranthix/Isaac/Papa Cowther about what Philo's deal is in any case, we might need to murderhobo her in the future afterall.

>Sierra/Ranthix would have to openly back Waldric anyway for him to take the seat. The announcement's made, the question is what terms it'll be on.
No. Ranthrix could just cast his vote, there is no need to announce Sierra's existence.
>>
You’ll have to talk about this with the Hallows tonight. There’s no way you can make this kind of decision without their input. In the meantime, you follow the scent of blood that Ranthix left when you sent him away. It’s his insistence that you should be the baroness that put you in this situation to begin with.
The smell of his blood is thick and fiery. It tantalizes you more than you expect it to. You would for sure go for some of that, you know, if you could like. Just go for it in passing. You catch yourself. “Eghk. What are you thinking?” you ask yourself.
“Maybe it’s because you’re hurt, and your body knows it can be better if you just like, indulge yourself a little,” you reply.
“Yeah. That’s probably it,” you say.
You nod warily. “Probably. I don’t really… know…” Your headache worsens. (-1 Sanity: 70/100)
You’re talking to yourself again. You should really just… cut that out. It’s weird. You scowl and track the scent through the house, until you come to a darkened room. You give a light knock on the doorframe before you head into the little guest bedroom.
Ranthix lies on his back, propped up on a bunch of pillows so his horns don’t hit the backboard. The blanket and sheets that should be on him are all kicked off to the side, all stained red. His feet hang off over the edge of the bed, and his tail hangs lifelessly over the side, along with one of his arms. His massive claws brush the floor.
>>
>>33558942

He’s just too huge for a regular bed. His normally burning eyes are closed and dark, and his breathing is slow and ragged. The room smells like blood.

You step carefully toward a desk in the corner, and pull out a chair from it and carry it over to the side of the bed, where you sit down. You kind of don’t want to wake him up. You imagine he’s the kind of guy that subscribes to the sleep when you’re dead philosophy of life.

Ranthix stirs. He opens his eyes, though they’re barely aglow in the dimness. He turns his head a fraction of an angle toward you, and then makes to sit up.

You hold up your hands. “No no,” you say, “you just lie there and uh. Stay down.”

Ranthix sinks backward with a long, tired breath. You both sit in silence for a minute.

Then, Ranthix speaks. His voice is quiet for once, though perhaps only from being on the verge of death. “I have a question,” he says.
“You do?” you ask. You thought you were the one that had the questions.

“Of course I do. That’s why I said I did,” he replies, sounding annoyed.

“Right,” you say, clicking your claws together. “Shoot.”
>>
>>33558957

He gives you a long look, as if trying to take a mental photograph. “What’s your name, spawnling?”Ranthix asks.

The difference is that Philo will reveal that information when and to whom she feels will benefit her.

A public position, (which WILL result in becoming public knowledge whether or not there is an announcement of any sort) will draw in players that otherwise wouldn't have been involved. Good and bad yes, but I think it's clear that the loyalists were on the losing side.

Maybe I should have put more emphasis on the "tried" part.

Because he's been in the Crowther's house and has talked to them about the situation at some point between his bouts of shouting and laying in bed.

>Why did you throw everything away to help me out?
Why are you so loyal?

Trevon lacked ranthix's immunity to fire.
>>
>>33559125
Again, how would he know her name?
>>
>>33559125
Which still wouldn't tell him whether we were Sakheris or Nydalis.

"I WANT THE SPAWNLING TO RULE!"
"You mean Sierra?"
"YES, THAT ONE! WOULD YOU HAPPEN TO KNOW HER REAL NAME?"
"Well, I put her in my phone as 'Sakherith'."
"AH. YOU MUST HAVE SPELLED IT WRONG. SAKHERIS WILL MAKE A FINE LEADER."
>>
>>33559164
Yeah, that's sure more likely than him not knowing.
>>

Sierra.

Don't give away our real name, goddamn people.

>>33558977
>Sierra.
>>
>>33559285

>>33559322
Why? As I see it we don't -want- to be Sakheris, we want to be Sierra.

>>Sakheris.
>>Wait. You didn’t know my name this whole time?
>>
>>33558309
Finally here on time! Kinda shocked that Meckor died so easily, Isaac is a fucking machine.
>Sakheris
We spend most of our lives trying to hide our demonic side and it only leads to trouble. We have said ourselves we hate hiding it away.
>>
>>33559336
She's been pretty enthusiastic about being a demon, until today's tragedy. Even after it, Isaac gave her a pep talk about how she'd do great things with her power, eventually.
>>
>>33559336
There's quite a few that are minutes apart, numbnuts. There's either more than one samefag, or a proxy user.
>>
>>33559336
>we don't -want- to be Sakheris
Now where the hell did you get that from?
>>
So, what are we arguing about this time? I see some retard screaming that people he doesn't agree with are samefags? I've noticed lately that every time I make a vote and then tab out, I come back to a stupid fight.
>>
>>33559366
Hiding the fact that she's a demon is not the same as spouting our secret name of demon power out at random intervals.
>>
>>33558977
>>Sierra.
>>Sakheris.
>>Wait. You didn’t know my name this whole time?
>>
>>33559336
We HATE hiding our demonic nature. I see having a false name as an extension of our hiding our nature.
>>33559411
Well, as far as we know, the only power it holds is the power we give it, ie we have to swear by it and break our vow for it to hurt us.
>>
>>33559411
That's not a thing. Demons can swear on their name, but other people knowing it doesn't give them any power.
>>
>>33559438
>the only power it holds is the power we give it, ie we have to swear by it and break our vow for it to hurt us.
It doesn't even do that. That's only for full demons, their name has no hold over a hellborn.
>>
>>33559404
That telling McLoudpants our demon name would be a bad idea.

I think it's not. HOWEVER, I also think that we should tell Ranthix to keep it hush hush for now. Seems to me like it is important whether we're Nevada or Sierra. What importance, I don't know.
>>
More than any name stuff, I wanna ask how people can tell who we are? Is it our horns?
>>
>>33559455
>That telling McLoudpants our demon name would be a bad idea.
What a fucking stupid thing to argue about.

What the fuck.
>>
>>33559404
You're not helping. Someone just has an opinion. If you can't be assed to actually read the responses and figure it out you should just sit back and shut up, rather than popping off your uninformed opinion and making something out of nothing.

You're basically instigating a fight by assuming there is one.
>>
>>33559423
This. I think we can trust Mr. Shoutsalot.
>>
>>33559466
Probably the fact that, to people familiar with demons, the fact that we have Verwelken/Belphagoran/Infernus hybrid traits is really obvious. We also probably look a lot like our mom, in that respect, who is likely EXTREMELY WELL-KNOWN for having that particular set of hybrid traits. So, basically, we're an extremely rare crossbreed that perfectly matches a missing Imperial heir.

So, there's a certain level of assumption going on, but it's still a very educated guess.
>>
>>33558977
>Sierra
>Wait. You didn’t know my name this whole time?
Sakheris if he can promise to keep it secret, keep it safe.
>>
>>33559467
There has been worse things. Like really silly things. I think some argue against it since they don't know Ranthix well enough and thus don't trust him.

I get that. Personally I trust only the Hallows and Moriah 100% to have our back. That being said, I think Ranthix is proper interested in serving Sierra loyally.
>>
>>33559495
>This. I think we can trust Mr. Shoutsalot.
He nearly got his ass killed fighting Meckor to save our hide. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but evidence suggests we can trust him.
>>
>>33559501
People specifically didn't know she had kids, and other demons can't tell what we are without us using our powers or being told.
>>
>>33559533
>People specifically didn't know she had kids
What are you talking about? People have been asking us shit like, 'So, which of the Imperial twins are you?' We might have been secret at one point, but clearly by the time she was assassinated the twins were common knowledge.

When we visited the lady to sign up as a deputy, she told us people didn't know she had kids
>>
>>33559438
>>33559447
Well, I just don't remember that being specified exactly. I've been working under the assumption that a secret demon name should stay secret because there was no direct confirmation of consequences. I could have sworn that somewhere around the time we were meeting Waldric that we learned there was power in a demon name and we shouldn't be telling everyone.

Anyone have a reference or an idea where that was confirmed? Also, if a NPC told us, there's the possibility they're uninformed or lying.
>>
>>33559565
>'So, which of the Imperial twins are you?

This got me thinking how important this knowledge is. What does it matter which one we are? This shit alone makes me want to keep it secret until we know if being Sierra or Nevada has any actual meaning on things.
>>
>>33559603
Pretty sure it was Isaac
>>
Well clearly ranthix knows, what he doesn't know is which of the two we are. He's loyal to the mother, saved our ass multiple times, wants us to be demon lord. I mean come on, gotta trust the man at least a bit. He can know the name.
>>
>>33559591
I do! Can't wait for Sierra to be just like that!
>>
>>33559595
Characters can be wrong or deceptive. I don't understand why so many people are willing to put so much faith in NPC dialogue.
>>
>>33559620
Well, I'm not sure how well versed in demon power names he can be. I'd prefer a more neutral or even demonic source than him.
>>
>>33559603
>I could have sworn that somewhere around the time we were meeting Waldric that we learned there was power in a demon name and we shouldn't be telling everyone.
Isaac said that demon names have power for full demons.

He said that people knowing we were Sakheris wouldn't give any power over us, and we couldn't even do the oath thing with it. The reason he said it might not be the best idea for us to share our name is because some demons might recognize it and realize who we are.
>>
>>33559630
>Can't wait for Sierra to be just like that!
I doubt she'll be like that. Sierra is a full 50% human, and only almost 17% any given type of demon. Despite basically all of her powers being demonic, she's mostly not-a-demon.

I'm hoping and expecting that the next arc will feature embracing out human/landmaster side and developing it quite extensively, with appropriate adjustments to our appearance. I don't expect the demonic changes to our appearance to be undone, mind you. Just to become a more natural, obvious extension of our human form.
>>
>>33559741
Seeing as gaining power from the wells translates directly into getting more demon features, you're probably out of luck
>>
>>33559741
I wasn't being serious. That thing is hideous.

More landmastery would be neat, I agree. As much as I like cool demon claws and tails and horns, I'm worried she'll lose her humanity completely - though that might not mean she'll become an evil monster, like Moriah isn't.
>>
>>33559741
You realize embracing the landmaster side is not the same as embracing human side, right?
>>
>>33559814
I'm betting our dad was the landmaster of the relationship, so it probably actually is.

As a fun side note, if we figure out how Meckor was going to use the landwell as a bridge, we can probably start traveling back and forth between Earth and Hell with relative ease.
>>
>>33559673
Actually he didn't say we couldn't do the oath. Just that most Hellborn didn't get names, and we should be careful of telling it to anyone. He didn't say anything about the name oaths not working for hellborn.
>>
>>33559741
I see you post this every single thread and it really makes me wonder why.

Landmastery isn't even an only-humans thing. It's something that can happen with any sentient creature; angels, demons, dragons, humans, goblins, whatever. I don't get why you think doing landmaster stuff will make us more human looking. Sierra isn't half-demon half landmaster, she's a half-demon who has landmaster powers boosting her demonic base. The power boost from landmastery will go towards furthering the demonic appearance.
>>
>>33559840
>so it probably actually is.
No, it is not.
>>
>>33559885
In fact we got our horns from getting our first landwell.
>>
>>33558977
>sakheris
>>
>>33559885
>>33559926
It could be related to gaining power rather than how. It could be that without that landwell, we would've gained horns through level ups.

Only The Lawn knows for sure
>>
>>33559926
And the landmaster power that we actually learned from focusing on landmastery, summoning the familiar, took on the form of a demonic imp thing. Apparently, other landmasters get different familiars.

Our landmaster powers are interwoven with the demon side. It's not something where we can focus on one 'half', because there aren't halfs. It's a thing with another thing supercharging it and giving a few cool bonuses.
>>
>>33559965
I had completely forgotten about the imp.
>>

I wonder what the last stat is. HP/PP/MYSTERY!

Maybe getting more Belph points provides better understanding.
>>
>>33559965
It's more like two things partially fused and assisting eachother to be more powerful. Landmastery seems to be injecting more raw power into the demon side while the demon side is providing templates for the landmastery to latch on to.
>>
>>33560002
Yeah. The little girls recognized both their human names and their demon names as equally their own name. It wasn't that their demon names were their real names and their human ones were their fake names or something - they were both them.

Special abilities/things?
Like our bloodlust/stress/sanity

Speaking of, we really have a lot of negative stats to keep track of such as those three, is almost like we'll end up crazy sooner or later and there's nothing we can do about it.
>>
>>33560065
Dont coax it, man! Geez!

>>33560071
Yeah, we do. I was worried enough when we only had Stress. I wonder if there's a way to remove them or if they're permanent? I get the feeling they're permanent, though.
>>
“You can call me Sierra,” you say. “But like, my Halth name and stuff is Sakheris.”

“Sakheris. A good name,” says Ranthix.

“But you can call me Sierra,” you reiterate. “As in. Call me Sierra. It’s what my friends call me.”

Ranthix mulls this over. “So what you’re insinuating is, if I call you Sierra, I’ll be your friend as well?”

You smile to yourself. Ranthix is kind of silly, sometimes. “No man, I’m not insinuating anything,” you tell him. “My name’s Sierra. You saved my life like, twice maybe, so you’ve already qualified yourself for the friend circle.”

A broad, toothsome smile forms on Ranthix’s face. “Ah. Excellent,” he says blithely.

“Why’d you throw everything away for me?” you ask. “I mean, I know my mom was a big hotshot and stuff, but Meckor liked her too and he was all about killing me.”

“General Meckor died as traitors do,” Ranthix says with a growl. “My allegiance to the Imperiate extends beyond death, be it mine or hers. Or yours, now. Not to suggest that you can die. You will never die,” he tells you.

“Um. Sure,” you say. You don’t want to deal with that right now. “So. What was Meckor’s deal anyway?” you ask, frowning. “He acted like snapping my neck was a service to my mom.”
>>
>>33560129
And each time we rage we get one more stat to keep track of.

You'd think people'd learn the first time that happened.
Having four stats would suck.
>>
>>33560129
I can see trying to get rid of the bloodlust stat being like trying to quit smoking. With the added effect of it slowly kicking our stress up and dropping our sanity the longer we hold back.
>>
>>33560148

“I’m not a ruler. I’m not even of noble blood,” says Ranthix. “But I can say this. Of those whose loyalty the Imperiate never questioned, Meckor was at the forefront. Her death broke many. Perhaps it broke him, also. As many do, he despised mortal swine – he would rave endlessly about the Imperiate’s consort, and how he corrupted her judgment and caused her downfall,” he says.

That comment just makes you have more questions, but you get the feeling Ranthix is in a talking mood and stopping him isn’t the best thing to do right now.

Ranthix scowls at the idea. “Treasonous thoughts, that the Imperiate should be so fallible. Her wisdom only increases, as does her terrible splendor,” he muses, his mind far away from where he is now. “And if the Dread Corithis wished that her heiress should be part mortal, then who is Meckor to deny her will? WHO?!” Ranthix bellows, seething with righteous indignation. His eyes alight with flaming light. “I WILL TELL YOU WHO HE IS, SIERRA, SPAWN OF CORITHIS, HE IS DEAD, THAT’S WHO HE IS! AH HA, YES.”

Ranthix's intensity is scary. You don't think he's going to burst into flame right now, but who knows where he's concerned.

You laugh nervously along with Ranthix. “Y-yeah, right,” you say. Meckor being dead is a good thing. The source of a lot of your problems is gone. You still have you problems, but external problems are decreasing back to normalish levels, at least. And now you’ve got a bunch of people who know what’s up with you and maybe can help you figure things out. (-5 Stress: 11/100) (+2 Sanity: 72/100)

And speaking of figuring things out, the biggest thing you’d like to figure out is how to not be ticking time bomb anymore. “Ranthix, you’re Infernus, right?”

“That is a stupid question,” says Ranthix.

You fold your arms and sit back in your chair. “I thought you said the Imperiate was infallible or something.”

Ranthix chuckles painfully to himself. “Just because you’re infallible doesn’t mean you don’t say stupid things, spawnling,” he says.

“Oh man, funny, shut up,” you say, feeling self conscious. Everyone’s always saying you say stupid things. It’s not like you don’t know already. You’re not actually stupid. Words just aren’t your strong suit. “Look. I just… have this thing,” you say. “Like, whenever I get stressed out or hurt or, I don’t know, afraid, I kind of lose control and start killing everything.”
>>
>>33560865

Ranthix nods satisfactorily. “The blood rage. Yes – few among us have this gift. It is a part of being of our kind. A double edged sword – useful in battle, though your opponents will know of it and seek to turn it against you. You must be disciplined,” he says.

“About that,” you say, eager now that you have some kind of name to put to your episodes. “My whole life it’s been with me. Like. It’s always there. I kind of don’t want it to always be there.”

“Then you seek discipline,” Ranthix says, thoughtfully. “A wise course for a fledgling Imperiate. The sages of Inferia would fight each other to death for the honor of becoming your teacher.”

You don’t really plan on making any trips to Inferia in the near future. “Actually, I was kind of hoping to find someone closer to home to show me the ropes,” you say slyly. “You know. Somebody who knows their stuff. Somebody who like, already proved their loyalty.”

“THAT SOUNDS LIKE ME,” says Ranthix, sitting up. “SO BE IT. I WILL TEACH YOU THE ANCIENT WAYS. YOU WILL -” he runs out of breath and pauses for a breather “become strong,” he wheezes. “And also sagacious. In both body… and soul. And then you will… regain your glory and… reign without ceasing… forever.”

“Cool,” you say, smiling. This is good. This is very, very good. (+1 Sanity: 73/100)

“Yesss…” Ranthix hisses. He takes a minute to regain his breath.

You don’t want to pester him when he’s like this, but you’ve still got questions and this guy’s shown he’s willing to answer. “You know, I don’t really know that much about my family,” you say softly. “Or history. Or anything, really. I’ve just kind of been on my own for a while,” you tell Ranthix. “Would you like… tell me about my mom and dad, a little?”

Ranthix ponders on your question for a while. “The Imperiate – your mother,” he corrects himself, “was… splendiferous. I saw her, once. And I was writhing in pain for three days!” he says fiercely. “That’s forty years past, now. I was just a spawnling then. I was stronger than everything! And with one glance, she taught me what captains and legionnaires had failed to for my whole life - she taught me humility.”
>>
>>33561799
You don't want to go much shorter than 10"or there about. A small machine pistol would make a better hold out . I would say glock 18 for ease of acquisition.
>>
>>33561837
You’re not sure if this is the kind of story you’d go around telling people if you were in Ranthix’s position. “That’s… great,” you say, your voice faltering.

“Yes it was,” Ranthix agrees. He’s enjoying the nostalgia of the moment. “Before she died, traitors and betrayers arose from every corner. Her loyal agents destroyed them, of course. But everything – everything! – collapsed when her life was stolen by assassins. The story of her death is unknown, though certainly it was not through forward combat she was slain. Your mother was unassailable on the battlefield. She lead all of the most critical campaigns with herself on the frontlines.”

You’re careful to take in all the details of what he tells you. “What about my dad?”

Ranthix’s eyes become distant, and he looks at the wall as he recalls. “Meckor told me of him,” he says. “He ranted about him. The Queen’s consort. Her assassin. He said that she fell with child, of him. In her centuries of life, never had she spawned life. And then you!” Ranthix says, grinning. “I entertained the idea as an idle tale, till I tripped over your shadowy cords, in that dark garden where we first crossed paths. An Infernus joined with a Verwelken. Impossible!” he says, laughing. “Only the Imperiate could will it so. And here you are, as proof!”

Wait just a second. Your mom was part Verwelken. Why would Ranthix think it was impossible? Or was it a secret or something?

>Say stuff (?)

I do like cute things, I really do.

But not only would it be weird, it would also be borderline HERESY since we're the Imperiate's daughter and he's just a soldier. Also Sierra doesn't like touching.

Speaking of touching, we really should try and do something about it. The aversion, I mean.
>>
>>33562257
>Speaking of touching, we really should try and do something about it. The aversion, I mean.
I'd rather not. It would immediately turn into "muh god so moe hug that pat that"
>>
>>33561987
Yet. Enhanced strength is definitely an Infernus thing. And with all of this shotgun talk, I'm starting to love the idea of a silly-huge revolver that shoots 12 gauge rounds.
>>
>>33562169
Touching's only okay when we initiate it, like when we hugged Cass. Even then, we're still not that comfortable with it.
>>
>>33562284
Probably, hopefully not. I think having intense aversion to touching is going to cause in the long run. Humans are pretty social creatures in that regard, after all.
>>
>>33562292
Get something absolutely stupid, like a 4 gauge revolver.
>>
>>33562284
No, we should learn how to tolerate it though. We don't want our stress shooting from something like that.
>>
>>33562065
That's only hellborn, and only when mixed with Belphagoran. Isaac told us that when you mix most demon types in a hellborn, they each grow stronger until one predominates - Infernus or Belphagoran, for us. Verwelken never predominates, though, and in 3+ mixes it also keeps any of the other from predominating.

Normally, this means an Infernus/Belphagoran/Verwelken hybrid skyrockets in power until it eventually explodes. We, for some reason, haven't exploded.

In this case, the Infernus/Verwelken bit being surprising is probably because fire/explosions/loud noises are probably directly antagonistic to the Darkness.
>>
>>33562098
Blood lust - as people have been saying this WHOLE TIME - isn't a hunger to drink blood. Ranthix JUST confirmed that. It's an urge to flip out and murder everything. An urge for violence.
>>
>>33562351
Nah. As appealing as it is, a revolver that size would have structural issues, even if we're strong enough. I want something that can have 3-6 rounds in the cylinder without breaking or being bigger around than our waist.
>>
>>33562413
Yeah, I don't see any other way to interpret it. If you fancy, think viking berserkers but literally no distinction over friend and foe.
>>
>>33562413
But the violent outbursts have always been linked to stress
>>
>>33562373
No, I believe what was said about Verwelken hellborn isnthat it never predominates, except when mixed with Infernus, in which case it tries to predominate for some reason, keeping up with the Infernus part until the subject explodes.
The Nelphegoran part is unrelated, as far as we know from Isaac

>Song laughs to herself. “It mean much more than blood, girl,” she says. “It is from word ‘sakherith’, which can mean essence of life. Or priceless jewel, maybe.”

It means blood. Though the metaphores behind the meaning seem to be much more pronounced.
>>
>>33562590
Could be. Could be that Sakheris means some sort of red gem in Halth. But there is a distinction as Waldo explained that Sakherith means 'blood' while Chinalady (if I remember right) explained that Sakheris is some sort of funky gem or something. Can't be arsed to search it.

>You saying 'sakherith' and 'sakheris' are two different demonic languages or dialects?

No, I'm saying they are the same word in two different grammatic situations. One is a noun, the other is appropriate for a name which does not need to be the same as the noun form of the word depending on the language.

The reason I talked about monolingual plebs is because of the confusion of whether it means blood or not. Words that supposedly mean the same thing in two different languages can actually have very different full meanings even though they get translated as equal.

So our current plan is to take the title since our name should carry a lot of sway and let Wally and pals manage things for us, while we get taught how not to be a liability by Big Red Brian Blessed? We'll also want to get to grips with hell-lore and history, plus some sort of method for restoring sanity in the immediate future.

The biggest downside I can think of is the risk of assassination attempts, though Isaac might be able to do something about that with his warding shenanigans. Hopefully the discipline training will not only make us much more reliable as a combatant but also help boost self esteem/alleviate the feelings of being a horrible monster if it gives us self control.
