In a World of Darkness and Light, Monsters and Men, Dragons and Griffins, Witches and Mages, Heroes and Legends, Kingdoms and Empire's, there is much strife and war. Peace in all four corners of the world is a very rare thing of beauty. Kings and Emperors are fighting for power and land on both battlefields and at court. However, you're not part of this struggle for power, not yet. For reasons unknown you don't remember your life as a human nor the torture you went through to become what you are today; A twisted being of dark magic, your body has been mutilated and corrupted beyond its limits. However, like many dark beings before you, you've been chained by the power that rules behind the scenes of politics and war in this world; The Holy Church.

Created by darkness and leashed by the light, you're a monster under the Church's will. You are an Inquisitor, the last of its kind. Once a man, twisted by magic, you now serve the Church as a hunter or a judge against monsters, witches, renegade mages and all the evil that oppose the holy order.

The conversation with the Royal guard was a short one; You were ordered to wait for the King to be done with his audience before you could meet him. The child remained behind your back, holding your grey robes while Benjamin was sitting down, resting against the nearby stone wall. Autumn was standing across the room from you, her arms crossed as her patience started to slowly run out. However, before she exploded in frustration, the heavy stone gates opened and out a large party of Monsters such as Orks, Minotuars, Centuar, all armoured and armed and lead by a floating white spirit. In the midst of them towered a tall being clad in black robes, but darkness was slipping out from its below, the arms and the hood. The eyes were burning as it went from Autumn, to Benjamin and then landed on you. It stopped, forcing the entire party to stop as well. Benjamin was uneasy and Autumn was already gripping the hilt of her weapon.

“Inquisitor...”, a voice whispered in your head before the dark being broke his eye contact with you and started to move again. When they were out of sight, Benjamin rose up quickly and Autumn crossed the room. “Visitors! You may enter the throne room!”, a voice called from inside the room.

The grand hall were outfitted with giant sapphires, emeralds and rubies in the walls, with crimson banners with a black hammer held by a muscular hand in the middle of each banner; The Iron Kingdom's insignia. Between the banners there was torches burning brightly and on the floor there was burning braziers to lit up the hall. The floor was filled with carpets of different colours ranging from crimson, blue, green and even black. The hall stretched out into a long four cornered room. To your sides there were two sets of stairs on each side and they lead to an upper level where dwarves stood and looked down as you crossed the hall. They were most certainly the nobility and lords of the dwarven race. Their gazes were judgmental as they followed you. At the end of the grand hall, there was three thrones, the middle one elevated above the other two. Each one had a large diamond crown built on top of it. The diamond for the throne in the center was black.

The throne to the right was empty, but the throne to the left was occupied by a woman holding a babe wrapped in silken cloth in her arms. The elevated throne held a strong and intimidating dwarf, far taller than any dwarf you've ever seen before. One of his eyes were missing and his long thick black beard covered half his face. He was dressed in a fine black on crimson coloured silken vest and white pants along with what appeared to be iron boots. Iron gauntlets occupied his hands.

“State your name and your business here.”, a royal guard spoke to you as you reached the platform below the thrones. This way, the subjects looked up at their king and he looked down at them. A powerful choice of design. The king would always feel like he had the upper hand, no matter what the conversation entailed. “Inquisitor, sent by the Holy Order and the church of Oaksberry to hunt down Austec Oakheart.”, something flared up in the king's eye when you spoke your targets name, but he remained unfazed in all other aspects. You had entered the throne room alone, leaving your companions outside. This would either turn out to be a good or a bad choice, depending on the outcome of this conversation.

“Kneel before the king, Dark one.”, the royal guard called out to you with a raised voice as if you had ignored him the first time he said it.

As always, it's customary to kneel or bow before a king and to avoid upsetting this one, you kneel down before the dwarf king. Silence falls over the room as all eyes are fixed on you. With no word from the king, you rise up once more and stare at him. He doesn't seem to be all that interested in you anymore. You figure that it must have been because you knelt before him. Too late to take back the first impression now.

"Austec Oakheart...", he starts to scratch his thick beard, looking up into the ceiling to appear to be thinking, "Never heard the name."

He was lying. Either to protect Austec or because of something you did. Without letting your irritated sigh out, you continue to stare at the king in defiance. He doesn't break eye contact either.

You continue to stare at the king, facing off in a battle of wills. His only functional eye is yellow and where the right eye used to be, there's only stitches resembling an X. You wonder how he lost his eye, but decide that it's a topic for another time. In the end, the king is the one to break eye contact with you, throwing his head back in a massive laughter that shocks the nobles and lords watching. The female dwarf sitting next to him is less surprised by her husband or fathers reaction.

"Maybe you got some balls in you after all, dark one!", he shouts out. You can see a smile beneath the thick beard, "Ay', I know of Austec. What's it to you?"

"He's a thief and a heretic to the Holy Order. I've been assigned to hunt him down and judge him.", your explaination sounds like something you've repeated countless times before. Especially the word 'judge'. No rest for the wicked.

"Ah, yes!", the king continues, his loud voice echoes in the quiet grand hall, "Them three scrolls he brought with him, ay? Well, it seems you missed him by the hair!"

Taking a step forward, your fierce determination is showing in your body language, "Where is he now?!", to which the King falls back into his throne, resting his old back against it, "The Aelvii Empire.", he states shortly. You can hear gasps of fear and loud arguments around the hall. The baby starts to cry from all the noises. The King ignores the and the baby; He's studying your reaction.

How did Austec get into the Aelvii Empire from here? Without a Dark being linked to the Capital, there's no way to get inside without spiritual magic or carving a bloody path through the Aelvii forces and strongholds along the way. Then it strikes you like lightning! The Dark being from before! It must have teleported Austec to the Aelvii. You just missed him!
>>
>>33560742

With no time to spare, you turn about to leave the throne room. "It's over, Inquisitor; Austec is out of your reach.", the king calls to you as you're leaving. "Not yet.", you mutter under your breath as you leave, the gates closing behind you.

"Well? Where is he? Where shall we head next?", Autumn immediately attacks you with questions, annoying you to no ends. Benjamin is fidgeting in the corner and the elf child has sprinted up to you to hide behind your back again.

"He's gone to the Aelvii Empire.", You explain. Autumn turns pale for a moment and Benjamin is visible scared. The elf child doesn't seem to have understood what that meant for you all. "So, that's it? We've failed?", the shacking voice of the squire comes from the corner.

"No. We will teleport to the Eastern Kingdom and ask assistance from the spirits or the elves if need be.", it was as good as a plan as any, but Autumn was not convinced, "The elves will never help humans and the spirits have their own unknown reasons to despite us. There's no way they will ever help us."

"They will help us.", you reassure her, "How? Why?", she proceeds to ask, her voice dripping with doubt. You slowly put your hand on the head of the elf child behind you, "Because of her."

With Benjamin and Autumn slightly convinced, you're realising that you still have to wait 1 day before your rune magic is available again. Blood magic is strictly forbidden here and while rules mean nothing to you when they are in your way, this is one of the rules that needs to be followed unless you want your party to end up dead or worse.

One might argue that it's still only because of the elf child, but Benjamin has been too quiet and very nervous ever since you entered the dwarven city. Autumn hasn't been affected, but she started to complain to you when she noticed that the elf child was yawning. They needed a place to rest and sleep for the night and it was quickly decided that you would not spend Autumns last silver coins on some expensive rooms in the city. No, instead the human town a couple of hours of walking south-east seemed like a much better option. It would either be cheaper or for free thanks to Autumn and Benjamin.

You all crossed the bridge over the pitfall of lava and after the long hallway with the giant statue of a dwarf, you were finally out from the city. The fresh air was even more welcoming than it had been that time after the abandoned church. Benjamin did some short stretches before he caught up with the party. While you moved through the slave camps, a lot of the slaves and the overseers threw dirty looks towards you and especially the little girl. She buried her face in your robes while you lead her and the others through the camps. After climbing the hill and jogging down it, the child finally let go off you and dropped to the ground. Autumn quickly approached her to help her, but she waved the templar away, shacking her head.

The elf girl was on all four, feelig the grass, her gloves and shoes thrown off. The grass was dancing between her toes and fingers as the wind passed by. She rolled onto her back and for the first time since you met her, she smiled and cried tears of joy.

"Well done.", your humanity whisper in the back of your head, praising you like a father praises his no good son. Looking across from you, Benjamin is smiling with Autumn. You think this is the first time you've seen Autumn smile as well, but you're not sure. Benjamin always smiles, but he's been down for the past few hours.
>>
>>33561296
Once she was done rolling around in the grass, even giggling from time to time when the wind passed by, she eventually rose up and put on her gloves and shoes again. To everyone's surprise, she held out her hand to Autumn this time and the templar grabbed it gently.

And so, you continued south-east till you finally reached the human town by dusk. You were right when you guessed that the owners would give the holy men and women a place to stay for the night and a hot meal, free of charge. The night came soon and as Autumn and the girl was sleeping in one room, you and Benjamin stayed in the other. The squire was sleeping soundly, but you were meditating.

However, something eventually broke your concentration; a knock on the door. Seeing no harm in checkig whom it was, you opened the door. There the little elf child stood, looking very tired in her small night gown provided to her by the owners.

"Can I, um...", she started, looing up at you and towards your bed and then back to you again, "Can I sleep w-with y-you tonight?", her voice was tired, but also shacking. Had she had a bad dream?

With a silent nod, she gave you a wide smile and rushed past you. Jumping onto your bed, she moved into the wall and patted on the other side of the bed, looking towards you. There was no helping it. You agreed to it, might as well go through with it.

After what seemed like a long journey, you reach the bed and lie down next to her. She immediately grabs a hold of your arm that's still covered by your grey robes. you rarely to never take off any of the equipment you wear aside from the things that are slightly loose, like your belts, sword, stiletto and the flasks with poison. She nuzzled into your arm and closed her eyes with a smile across her face. She felt safe here. You didn't need to sleep nor could you for that matter. This whole situation felt awefully weird to you. Eventually she fell asleep and you spend the remaining hours of the night listening to her breathing and Benjamin's occasional snoring.

The night flew by and you were greeted by a dim light from the cracks between the purple curtains as dawn arrived. Looking over at the little irl, she was still holding onto your arm, sleeping peacefully for the first time in a very long time. Benjamin was still trashing around in his bed, probably dreaming about a battle where he's the hero, the chosen one! You were just about to wake the little girl up, when someone quickly opened the door and stormed in! It was Autumn and she was only wearing her night gown.
>>
>>33561863

"The girl is gone!", she yells and wakes everyone up. The girl yawns and rises slowly from the bed, letting go of you. Autumn lets out a sigh of relief before her eyes meet that of Benjamin who was wide awake as well. He was staring at her, mouth gaping slightly. She immediately realizes what she's wearing and storms out of the room. The girl giggles and jumps out of the bed. With a wave to you, she leaves the room and closes the door behind her.

"I... uhh.", is the only thing the squire can muster to say before he looks over at you.

Kind of drifting in and out, trying to keep up. About to get on the road for a little while. Sorry if I miss updates, but I'm reading for sure.
>>
>>33561977

While you don't need to eat, you don't feel like doing the preparations for the spell just yet. Should wait for the rest of the party to get themselves ready before moving forward with the plans. As the only one dressed out of the four, you make your way down to the dining room. It's mostly empty, but a hooded figure is sitting by the end of one of the long tables, drinking from her mug and eating something green out of a bowl. She hasn't noticed you yet. The owner remains behind the counter, to afraid to ask what you'd like for breakfast. For one, you were going to treat yourself to a good meal;

"Salted meat and a flagon of whatever wine you have.", you order the owner before you seat yourself on the other long table across fro the hooded woman. After you've recieved your food, it's painfully obvious to you that the woman is studying you from underneath her hood. It's quite the intense stare too, but she never does anything else during the course of your meal. Rising up with a belly full of some dry wine and salted meat, you make your way outside, the woman's gaxe following your every footstep. Is she an assassin? If she is, then she's doing a very poor job. Maybe an agent? But for whom? The Order? The Imperium? The Aelvii? You didn't catch what race she was.

It the end you decide that it probably doesn't matter anyway. Not like she can touch you. Once you're outside, you start to paint the hexagons, circles and runes with your cray. It doesn't take more than an hour to create the pattern of your desire. With the spell ready to go, you await the others. 40 minutes later, the whole gang comes walking out. They've all been eating breakfast, even Benjamin; He's determined to not throw it all up like the first time.
>>
>>33562679

Whispering the words of the spell in a row, the hexagons, circles and runes start to glow with a dim, blue light. Turning around, you motion for your party to walk through one by one. Autumn is first through, then the elf and last before you is Benjamin, who readies himself before jumping through it.

After walking into the portal, the world around you changes as you're teleported. Instead of a clear blue sky with clouds, the sky is now a rainbow of colours, with spirits formed as birds flying above you and critter spirits all around you where you stand. You've landed in the middle of a meadow. While the rest of the part, especially the elf child, is amazed by all things new round them, you find yourself on the ground, face in the grass; Someone must have jumped through the portal before it closed and crashed into you on the other side. With a small push, you throw the person off your back an rise up to face them.

You quickly recognize the outfit and the cloak; it's that hooded figure from the inn. However, now the hood is drawn back and she's revealed to be a spirit, a blue female spirit. They can take a lot of forms, but the majority of them take elven forms to fit in with their elvish brethren. This one had an elvish look to her, while still blue. Her ears were long and pointy, her hair was shoulder length and instead of blue, her eyes flashed purple.

Moving in on her, you're towering above the spirit. Looking down, she casually meets your gaze. You can't determine whether or not she fears you from those shining purple so-called 'eyes'. "Who are you?", you ask, to which she quickly responds rather casually without a care in the world, "A spirit.", as she gets up on both feet. Ignoring the fact that she answered 'what are you' and not who she is, you stare at her in silence and she stares back, "Who sent you?"

The question catches her off guard somehow and she stares into the rainbow sky, pressing her index finger against her chin while resting her elbow in her other arm. Whether she's really thinking or making fun of you, it's hard to tell.

"I sent myelf?", she finally answers with a shrug and a wide smile.

Tired of all these hold ups, you press her for information by repeating your questions, passive anger dominating your tone. She backs off slightly from you, but her wide smile is still present. "I guess I do owe you a name since I know yours,", she winks at you, or at least you think she did. Can't tell with those eyes, "Theresa. It's not the best name, but it's my own.", her smile ever present as her hand shoots out to shake your hand. You back away, but she gets a hold of your hand nonetheless and shakes it slightly before letting go.

"And I was telling the truth; No one sent me but myself. I was on my pilgrimage up at the dwarf city when I saw you free her.", the spirit named Theresa points towards the elf child who's holding Autumn's hand, "Couldn't sneak in with you, so I went back to the inn I was staying at to wait till you came out. Luck would have it that you came to me instead."

"So why are you following us?", the question was a good one, but you figured that it must be because of the elf. "You're the Inquisitor.", She answers. "And?", you retaliate, suspicious of her intentions, "You're the last of your kind, an extinct race of hunters, assassins and disciplined killers all mixed in one. You're worth studying."

Thanks for the bumps, people. C was the option that won, so I'll start writing on that.

While Theresa stood by the side, looking over at your gathered party, you ask the others in the party what they think of her. Benjamin doesn't have a problem with her; Autumn argues that you don't need more people slowing you down and this spirit doesn't seem to be the most brightest of her people either. The elf child stays quiet in the face of the question. Maybe she doesn't care or maybe she doesn't want to care? Either way, it's apparently up to you to decide.

>A. Bring her with you for now.
>B. Reject her.

Well, we are here for help from spirits or elfs. I suppose having both with us might not be such a bad idea to curry favor.

The decision has been made, and it's too late for second thoughts now; When you told her that she could join the party, she was overexcited at the prospect of traveling with you and study you, both in and out of combat. You're supposed to feel somewhat flattered, but you can't help but feel annoyed to always be watched. You've grown used to the stares, but not someone who stares at you day in and day out; That's something else entirely.

Asking the elf girl for directions proved to be moot and Theresa isn't all to sure about where you are in the Eastern Kingdom, so she's not much help either. It's up to you to pick a direction to walk in hopes of finding something other than nature.

>>
>>33566211
Well, ide look for the lay of the land, head down to were the water flows and a settlement wont be far from it. Failing that
>B. East

The party of a spirit, elf child, templar, paladin squire and an Inquisitor started to march east in the Eastern Kingdom. As you continued to make your way through it, you found more and more forests, meadows, mountains, rivers, and they were all untouched. You couldn't see any city, town or even a farm for miles in all directions. Something was amiss. You had been here before, but you only remembered that meadow for sentimental reasons. First time you faced an aggressive full grown griffin. One of the hardest battles you've fought for as long as you can remember. Griffins usually turn out peaceful or aggressive from their teenage years and the aggressive ones are put down quickly. This one must have avoided or killed its hunters for years before dying by your blade and blood magic.

"Oi!", Theresa shouts out, cutting your trip to memory lane short, "I remember now!", she runs ahead and stops next to a boulder lying out in a field of roses. When you finally catch up to her, she extends both hands and motion them between you and the thin air next to the boulder, "You first, Inquisitor.", she says with a smirk. Without hesitatio, you walk where she's pointing and you find yourself walking through a bubble of some sort and the second you pass it through, you're in a whole different place;

A large city with tall towers littering the place and streets made out of marble, gardens everywhere and a giant fontain in front of you, spouting water through the mouth of a elvish boy holding a bow and a rose. You've found the enchanted spirit city of the Eastern Kingdom. Legends told of a an artifact that, when activated by magic, would envelop a city in illusion magic. Seems one of the many legends was true, or maybe there was a lot of spirits and elves working hard to maintain this kind of magic.

"Wow!", you hear behid you and to you amusment, it's Autumn who's struck with amazement at the wonders she's staring at. It's nothing like the Imperial Capital or the Order's Sanctuary. Your entire party joined you inside the city. You were getting a lot of stares from the citizens walking by and some of them even stopped to look at you; some of them has never seen humans before and you're sure only a minority of them has ever seen you or any Inquisitor for that matter.

>A. Explore the city.
>B. Ask Theresa where the Elvish and Spirit leaders are.
>C. Ask what the party thinks you should do.
>D. Ask around for directions.

Alright, next time the party will be exploring the hidden city of the Spirits and Elves. Thank you guys for participating! I'm looking forward till next time!

I'd very much like to hear time's when it's good for you for me to run this quest so you'll have an opportunity to join in from the start instead of close to the end of it!

I would also love to hear any feedback or questions. Thread will be up on the archives shortly so upvote if you had fun!

Cheers.
