You are Zhu Xing, from the city of Xu Chang. You've finished your Southern Campaign against Wang Lang, but are now beset by Yuan Shu's force attacking. Fortunately for you, Chen Gong has arranged for your force to meet with Liu Biao's army to face Yuan Shu.

In a week after you receive instructions from Chen Gong, you finally set out with five thousand of your troops to rendezvous with Liu Biao's army to face Yuan Shu's force led by Ji Ling. You are informed that you will meet Liu Biao's army at Jing, and set out to face Ji Ling on the Chang Jiang River. Unfortunately, your forces are small and you have no sizable warships. It would be wise to make good use of your ally.

Before you set out, you have to time to buy some items.

Let me tell you a story from Romance of how Zhuge Liang got 130k arrows.

Zhou Yu was intent on humiliating Zhuge Liang, and so asked him an impossible feat, gaining 100k arrows on his own, within ten days.

Zhuge Liang laughed, and say he could do it in three, and pledged his life to the order.

Lu Su was asked by Zhuge Liang if he may borrow boats and straw.

Moving forwards with the boats, covered with bales of straw, he calmly sat drinking tea as his non-combatant troops challenged the might of a million of Cao Cao's troops.

However it was foggy on that day, and Cao Cao suspected it was a Wu trap, to lure his forces out. So he simply ordered to have his troops shoot arrows at the enemy, as well as order more troops to aid in the shooting.

Calmly drinking tea, Zhuge Liang's ships accepted the arrows with no casualties, as they all were stuck in the straw. He turned his ships around to gain another side filled with arrows, and then reported back to Zhou Yu.

This mother fucker is the best strategist in the three kingdoms by far. If his prowess was martial instead of strategic, he would easily rival Lu Bu, perhaps even surpass him.
He can also read into people like a mother fucker, as shown exactly by the actions leading up to this incident, he would have no problem controlling Lu Bu's anger, he would most likely be able to tame him, and make sure he becomes a proper commander.

We need this man. Cheng Gong is good, but he is not Zhou Yu or Guo Jia.

Historical Zhuge Liang wasn't the best strategist. His Northern Expeditions were counterproductive and easily stopped. Liu Bei and Zhang Fei were superior battlefield commanders.

Lu Su, Lu Meng, and Lu Xun are our native strategists and Zhuge Liang isn't going to want to serve Lu Bu anyway.

Better to get a Pang Tong and Xu Shu instead.

We know for certain that our LDR and INT will go up by +2.

We are squabbling over whether our LDR goes up +1 or our CHA goes up +2.

This isn't a huge fucking deal. CHA is important for talking with our allies, convincing enemy generals to defect, and quickly placating captured enemy cities.

LDR is an important base stat, but we are fairly strong at it and getting a +2 bonus. A +2 CHA bonus will serve us better than a +1 LDR I suspect.

>>
>>33571244
>an overblown strategist.
Thanks to Zhuge Liang and Zhou Yu's forces, Cao Cao's forces of a million were crushed.
If we are to stay in Wu territory, we must act as Wu does towards Wei, especially now that Wei has lost the thorn in it's side that was Lu Bu.

Either we must go on an offensive after taking Yuan Shu, or we must use Wu's natural moat as a defense against Wei's assault. After he takes Yuan Shao, we will have little chance to defeat him unless we immediately take up the attack.
And even that is unlikely considering he absorbs Yuan Shao's dying force into himself, and we will be exhausted troop-wise after Yuan Shu unless we pull some strategic bullshit.

Zhuge Liang in Romance, is an absurd bastard with almost super natural abilities, much like Lu Bu.

We're going on campaign against.

If we go by the previous one, this is probably a year long affair with multiple battles and character interactions.

With large pitched battles and multiple generals on our side, 1 point in leadership will have a minuscule effect.

However, in character interaction, there is only our cha stat and its a little abysmal right now.
>>
>>33571201
Problem is that Zhuge Liang, while smart, also stuck with the three kingdoms plan which was 'civil war forever'. Honestly, I'd go for Pang Tong than Zhuge, or the strategist Liu Bei had before Zhuge. They are both pretty smart and lack the cockyness of Zhuge or Sima Yi.

Besides, if he is Lu Bu of the mind, do you REALLY want him near Lu Bu to manipulate to his whim?

But we are in a world where Two Kingdoms seems more likely.
Liu Biao and us, VS Wei, is most likely.

And in such a case, Zhuge Liang's strategies will be needed.
>I'd go for Pang Tong than Zhuge, or the strategist Liu Bei had before Zhuge
Xu Shu and Pang Tong will be essential in the long run. We cannot have simply one strategist after all.

(Art of War and Gold Medallion bought. -300 gold. Also, 75 gold every 3 months has been much too generous and overpowering. Will be reduced to 50 gold for balance.)

You set on early morning with your army in tow. To your side, Lingqi grumbles slightly.

"It feels as though we are relying on Liu Biao for the next battle. What are the people to say when we cannot defend our own kingdom by ourselves?"

"We are using Liu Biao as he is using us. Liu Biao needs us in order to compete with both Yuan Shu and Cao Cao. In the grand scheme of things and the bigger picture, we should use Liu Biao's reinforcements to our content," you reply." Besides, you may have a chance to see your sister now."

"There is merit to Lady Lingqi's words, however," Zhang Liao says intervening. "If we rely too heavily on Liu Biao, he may use this to debt us in the future. It would be wise to show our strength in the next battle as well."

You nod to Zhang Liao. The army travels for a few days, before arriving at the Chang Jian river where boats are prepared. You traverse the waters to Liu Biao's territory, and after another few days, you see Liu Biao's grand army at the coast. Unlike your forces, Liu Biao's navy is much larger and had bigger warships on command. You make a note that in the future, you should improve your navy if you want to have a stronger standing in the South.

You anchor your ship at the coast, move out to meet with the commander in charge. A number of Liu Biao soldiers whisper and remark about your force, having heard of Lu Bu and yourself who has been his second most helping hand. At the beach, a man comes to greet you. He is a lanky man, with a wispy mustache and a small beard.

"Greetings," he says with a smile. "I am Cai Mao, General of the Waves and commanding this force. A pleasure to meet you, General Zhu."

Zhuge Liang's Northern Expeditions basically set the Shu in a decline. Although it was Jiang Wei who went full retard in trying to follow his mentor's example.

You also overrate Sima Yi tremendously. Cao Zhen, Hao Zao, and Zhange He were all arguably more successful than Sima Yi in fending off Zhuge Liang.

Besides, Cao Wei and Sun Wu were the real contenders of that era. The Northern Expeditions were a sideshow in comparison.

>Zhuge liang was trying to be preemptive in gaining the upper hand with his northern expeditions unfortunately they almost always completely failed thanks to Sima yi.

You are giving Sima Yi too much credit.

Zhuge Liang launched 5 expeditions, the first 3 failed with Cao Zhen as the Wei commander in chief. (Zhang He and Hao Zhao playing major roles)

Sima Yi was only in charge for the last two. Shitty supply lines was what really made Zhuge Liang turn back, which probably means the Northern Expeditions weren't viable in the first place.

Sima Yi also got Zhange He killed as well.

Because fundamentally, what Lu Bu wants is not very reconcilable with what Zhuge Liang hopes to achieve.

Zhuge Liang wishes for a three kingdom system to ensure peace. Lu Bu just wants to fight. Even in such a stalemate, he will choose to attack. That is not sugoi for such a system to work.

You clasp your hands together, and bow to Cai Mao. You have heard that this man is the brother to Lady Cai, the mother of Liu Biao's second son who has married Lu Bu's daughter. You have also heard that this man has many schemes under his belt, and does his very best to retain high position within Liu Biao's retinue. You dislike his character, and decode to not act too friendly towards him.

"An honor to meet you General," you say sternly. "I hope that we will repel Yuan Shu's forces together."

"Hmph, yet, you bring an army so small and without even any warships," another voice says coming to the side of Cai Mao. An older man, with a bushy beard and sullen eyes rubs his beard as he looks over your forces.

"Come now, General Huang Zu. War is not always about numbers and weapons. The forces of Governor Lu Bu have proven themselves capable at the Southlands," Cai Mao says with a laugh and wave of his hand.

"Hmph, let us hope so," Huang Zu repletes back with a scoff. An unpleasant, and somewhat rude man.

It's year 195. We are serving Lu Bu because we decided to work under Dong Zhuo and rolled a 92 at the start.

We started as a Lt, worked our way up to Guard Captain in Chang'an and planned Dong Zhuo's assassination with Lu Bu.

We became Lu Bu's second in command, but Jia Xu kicked us out of Chang'an and we met up with Chen Gong.

We headed South and took over most of Yangzhou in a series of campaign.

Read up on Siege of Chencang when you get the chance.

It's like Zhang Liao 2.0 except Hao Zhao was up against Zhuge Liang himself.

He fended off an army of 100,000 with just 1,000 men.

>However, Zhuge Liang was outwitted by Hao Zhao that when the former laid his hand on the entrenchment, the latter had already seen through his intention and started building interior walls within the boundaries of the original walls.[5] As long as the siege towers could not pass the first walls, the soldiers on top of the towers who managed to overcome the outer walls could not climb the second inner walls. Trapped inside the two gates of walls, those soldiers who descended from the towers became easy target for archery practice.

>>
>>33572141
>>If we can't marry Lingqi by 25-26, then we have to move on generics or easy waifus for the purpose of having heirs

No.

No we cannot.

We absolutely have to marry Lingqi.

Because if we don't, succession for our side is fucked and Liu Biao's side has a claim to our faction.
>>
>>33572141
I think we should hold off on our sister for now.
Personally I would like to save her for Sun Ce/Quan, if we can manage to get them to defect.

Zhu Xing is pretty much the default option because they would be scared off by Lingqi.

"I assure you General, our forces will contribute to the war effort," you reply to Huang Zu who looks at you in a slightly annoyed expression. "You have experience in fighting Yuan Shu. I should hope under that we may find victory in the field."

Huang Zu looks away, apparently placated. Cai Mao laughs once again, and speaks up with a smile to overturn the slightly awkward situation. The man has a way with words, if nothing else.

"Come, let us discuss plans for the next battle," he says gesturing to you and Huang Zu in to the command office. Inside, maidens are quick to set up some wine and cups as you sit down with the other two officers of Liu Biao.

"We are meeting Yuan Shu's armies at the Chang Jian," Cai Mao states as he takes a sip of his wine. "The winds blow south during this time of the day, so Yuan Shu has that going for him. We are informed that Ji Ling is leading the troops along with Chen Lan, Lei Bao, and the young Sun Ce."

Huang Zu scoffs.

"The little pup is coming out to? I shall grant him a grave in these waters and see to it that he sees his father soon. It is I that defeated Sun Jian and killed Yuan Shu's best general," Huang Zu boasts.

"In any case, I have already developed a plan to defeat these inexperienced men who have never seen naval war," Cai Mao states. "We will begin with a swift attack at the center of their formation, feign defeat, and retreat luring most of their forces to attack. Those men who know nothing of naval warfare will smell victory, and sally forth their sails. We will keep our best warships in station, and make a counterattack once we draw them in."

The movements of the ships and next few details are slightly complicated as Cai Mao indicates them with toy pieces on the table. A petty snake or not, it seems Cai Mao knows his thing when it comes to naval warfare.

"Where shall you take command?" Cai Mao asks, turning to look at you.

>>33572689
It might not fail. Maybe not this battle. maybe not brazenly or in a way that tells Liu Biao we are totaly shitheads. But the plan could work. Our plan to get Taishi Ci could have failed too and it was, while not complicated, risky. We rolled high. I'm not saying we should do it if most people don't want to. But if enough people want to get Sun Ce we have possibilities. At the end of the day, its up to the group though. We can at least try to make Sun Ce defect.
>>
>>33572689
and how is this not a realistic plan?

he could easily drown or take an arrow/sword to the back in the thick of combat, hell he's a glory hound that makes it even more likely to happen, we're merely helping the natural process a little.
>>
>>33572713
It requires a single audience with Sun Ce, which would prove no danger to us.

Whether he chooses to act upon it and defect, is his choice.

No danger, aside from that Huang Zu may have a tiger after him.
But is that trouble really?
>>
>>33572682
Not him, but here goes.

1. Sun Clan's powerbase is in the Southlands, he's historically more popular than us there.

2. Zhou Yu is his strategist and Sun Ce harbors great ambitions, we won't be able to control him. We are basically another Yuan Shu to him.

3. If we fuck up Huang Zu, the Liu Biao forces will be greatly diminished and we might easily lose the battle. This gives Yuan Shu the chance to roll up our territory.

4. If our treason is exposed, the Liu-Lu alliance is broken and Lu Bu should rightfully have our head.

5. It's overly complex and if any single part fails, it's going to collapse spectactularly.

6. There's basically no benefits here. Sun Ce is another Wang Lang in terms of trustworthiness, except 1000x more dangerous.
>>
>>33572735
It requires Sun Ce to not rip apart our army after we present a giant weakness to him. It requires our own commanders to not try and reinforce said weakness. It requires Sun Ce to actually have a shot at killing this guy and not just routing his forces while he runs away. It requires Sun Ce to retreat after he rips apart one of our divisions.

No, your plan is terrible.
>>
>>33572735
>A single audience with Sun Ce would prove no danger to us.

This is not true at all, if anyone sees us it could rupture our alliance, and there's no reason to think Sun Ce wouldn't just kick our ass.
>>
>>33572730

The Taishi Ci ploy was relatively simple, and it was a Raian given option, not a write-in.

The penalty for failing the ploy was that we'd have to fight our way into the city.

The penalty for this ploy going wrong is Liu Biao turning on us and ensuring the end of Wu-Bu.

Sun Ce could also leak the meeting to Liu Biao's forces to divide our forces. He would then take us piecemeal by piecemeal and conquer both Jing and Yangzhou for Yuan Shu.

Even if the ploy works, Sun Ce is an ambitious warlord who wants his fatherland as his powerbase. The land that we are occupying.

Taishi Ci was just a different story altogether.
>>
>>33572772
Yeah, we're likely to lose our head faster than Zhang Fei if we get caught telling Sun Ce where Huang Zu is.
>>
>>33572772
Disguise it as a challenge then, we should prove am atch for him.
>>
>>33572811

Or Sun Ce could just tell Liu Biao's forces to break our alliance.

He could take everyone's heads then.
>>
>>33572825

Sun Ce is stronger than us
>>
>>33572758
1. True you are correct. Which is why he and his family will be placed in Shochun, Yuan Shu's conquered territory.

2. Indeed you may be correct here, but this is also why we will be deployed along with him, and attempt to keep him pinned down to us through brotherhood, if it fails, then we can subtly kill Ce, and raise Quan by having him marry our sister.

3. One General can be worth a lot, but Cai Mao is just a worthy a one as he.

4. Treason? We simply told Sun Ce the name of the generals about to take his head, as well as how he would be welcome if he defected.

5. That's the beauty, after the audience it essentially isn't in our hands, it's in Sun Ce's. And if he dies failing it, there'll be Civil war in Yuan Shu's camp as those loyal to the Sun Clan try to protect or save Quan/Ce.

6. Aside from being being curbstomped by the superior forces of Liu Biao and Lu Bu, re-joining into the place of his ancestors, keeping the Imperial Seal, and having a safe place for Quan.
>>

Your men are lacking experience in naval battles, and as of now, you only command a third of the total forces on your side. Remembering Zhang Liao's words, you think it best to take one of the wings of the formation, where you give results but not be in the thickest of the fighting.

"We will command the right wind," you say to Cai Mao. Once the enemy is lured, we will envelop them from the side."

"So be it. I shall lead the center, and General Huang Zu at the left. I will order Lieutenant General Wen Ping to act as the main task force in luring the enemy. Wen Ping is strong and brave, and I believe him to be up to the task."

You nod in reply. In a brief moment, you look to see Huang Zu who also nods but also looks slightly annoyed. It may be that Huang Zu and Cai Mao do not truly get along well, and the former wants the center. Regardless, you give pleasantries to the others and walk out to prepare for the next day.

On the morrow, you set out with your ships toward the designated battlefield along with Liu Biao's force. Along the way, you notice Lingqi near the ramparts of the main ship, holding her mouth and looking sullen. It seems she is seasick. You move to her side, as she groans in pain.

>Poke fun at her

Sun Ce's one of the strongest generals of ROTK is my point.

Linqqi is proud of her fighting abilities, there's no way she'd except not fighting. She's obviously not the type to take uninvited physical contact well, given that we've never touched her like this before. However, her pride means she'll respond well if we goad her into overcoming her weakness.

Any unauthorized communication on the battlefield will lead us to be suspected of treason.

Furthermore, Sun Ce is a headstrong and confident commander who believes he's too good to serve under another. With Zhou Yu's unshakeable loyality, the two of them will be impossible to keep under control.

I say this as a full-on supporter of Wu, there's no way they'd be content serving with us. We should try to force him away from us so he can be a thorn in Cao Cao's side.
>>
>>33573018
Sun Ce is more charismatic and likable than Lu Bu.

If Sun Ce is brought into our territory, people will naturally flock to him, and depose the guy they see as a warmongering invader in favour of their beloved native son.

It is a shit plan.
>>

Countered with what?
We aren't revealing huge weaknesses in our army, we aren't letting him hold a sword to our neck as we talk, and if he does join our side then we can control him by having him garrison Yuan Shu's land with us.
Future ambition? Kill him while we're fighting against Cao Cao, or simply befriend him hard enough. Or prove we're enough of a lord for him to respect.
>>
>>33572878

I'm tired of it. My basic premise is that Sun Ce will inevitably rebel against us and a Zhou Yu, Ce, and Quan is not worth the headache.

Besides, Sun Ce knows that Yuan Shu is a warlord that earned his position through money and not through personal ability and therefore easier to topple at any time compared to our position where we are expanding rapidly, but still pretty vulnerable to external fuckery.

You casually move to the ramparts of the ship next to Lingqi, and place your elbows on the rails. With a smile, you look across the sea. Even with the warships, the Chang Jiang looks grand and beautiful. The birds flying overhead and their noises add to the serenity.

"What a grand day to enjoy, and a sight before we see battle. Would you not agree?"

Lingqi looks up at you with sharp eyes and a grunt.

"Sh-Shut u-"

She quickly gulps her mouth again and makes a lurching noise With a laugh, you move to help her by patting her back and then slowly setting her down to sit.

"The sickness is worse if you are standing. Have a seat for now, and just look over at the sky."

"Tsk... Why in the world do we have to be in the water? Makes fighting all the more difficult and cumbersome. I hate the weather here as well. Of all the places to have chosen for our kingdom... Bah, I can't wait till we take back the Central Plains."

Lingqi wipes sweat from her brows, and seems to have calmed down after you helped her.

"We may need to conduct some naval exercises in the near future. This river acts as a natural barrier from the enemy forces, but also acts as a deterrent to us. That's incorrect though.

Of Cao Cao's 5 generals and his prominent relatives, only Zhang Liao and Xu Huang have higher intelligence than us. Even then, it's not by much.

We "outsmart" most of Cao Cao's generals by good 20 points.

We fall behind a little in terms of leadership, but the difference between mid 70s and low 80s can be made up when we are so young and on campaign all the time. (remember leadership went up by +7 in the campaign)

You sit down next to Lingqi, and you take out a small peach from your shirt to munch on.

"...You don't have to keep my company, I'm fine," Lingqi says with a frown. "You're suppose to be in command of the army."

"Relax. It will be a long more time before we see the enemy. I' will be here to help you out if you throw up again. I cannot have one of my generals dying before the battle even starts, can I? Want a bite?" you ask motioning to your peach.

"No thanks, as if I'm not in bad enough of a condition already. But... thank you anyway," Lingqi replies, saying the last part with some great effort on her part and an embarrassed tone.

You spend an hour with Lingqi, and you begin to understand her better. It seems she has issues opening up with others, but you've strengthened your bond with her nonetheless.

The moment of battle soon comes, as a soldier shouts to you that the enemy can be seen. Lingqi gets up and returns to her own command ship, her sickness almost disappearing as signs of battle appears. You quickly move to the command position, and order your ships to move in formation. It takes an hour, your men and ships take some more extra time than the Liu Biao forces. You can hear some of the Liu Biao men shouting and making fun of your men, to which they angrily curse and shout back. You are quick to shut your men up, though Cai Mao simply laughs it off on his side.

The drums begin to roll, and on the center, you see the vanguard ships moving forward. Arrows are exchanged on both sides. You observe the vanguard leader, Wen Ping as Cai Mao called him. A large and stout man, you notice that his command and stature in leading his men are excellent. When one of the enemy ship collides with his, you see Wen Ping being the first to jump in and board the enemy ship, killing a dozen or so men before the enemy ship is taken. An hour long in to the fighting, Wen Ping quickly orders his ships to retreat.

The enemy falls for the bait. Horns are blown, as the enemy ships charge forward to take down Wen Ping. Cai Mao raises his hand when the enemy is sufficiency lured in and your ships begin to move. Your force's task is to hit them from the right while Cai Mao takes the front and Huang Zu takes the left

"All ships forward! I want an enemy general's head on the pike of my ship before the day is done!"

Your ships surge forward, exchanging volleys of arrows before colliding. Men begin to board ships from both side. Because there is a lack of naval training in both sides, some of the battles become clumsy. Your side does slightly better, with Zhang Liao, Lingqi, and Song Xian taking the command of the front and pushing the soldiers.

As the battle rages on, you spot an enemy command ship. The other ships and men are occupied, but you have a chance to attack one of the enemy general command ships.

Gonna bypass the waifu debate. There are two Qiaos, at least one will be available for our brother.
>>
>>33574574
Actually we should encourage Lu Bu to take one.
>>
>>33574626
He has his waifu though, besides we need to into clan building.
>>
>>33574636
The tears when we find out lu bu knocked up Diaochan while on campaign and has a bright new baby boy will be hilarious.

Isn't he infatuated with Diao Chan? We need the Qiaos more than he does.
>>
>>33574636
I was just thinking that a wife might do him good, until I remembered Diao Chan existed
>>
>>33574636
We marry Lingqi.
Lu Bu marries a Qiao, while our brother marries one too.
This means we are connected through two threads, one between the Lu family, and the other in our own family.
>>
>>33574626
Doesn't he have Diao Chan, the prettiest babe in all the land? He could at least save some for the rest of us.
>>
>>33574655

Ideally we need a second wife.

One to help with the household managing.

Because leaving lingqi at home to do that is asking for hell on earth.
>>
>>33574649
It'd be a political marriage than anything else.
>>

>>

>>
>>33574664
If we take a Qiao we'll be making a mistake, as the families are already connected through our little brother.
Ideally we should have a political marriage with someone else more powerful. Perhaps someone in Liu Biao's lands? Maybe someone a little higher in China, we'll see.
>>
>>33574675
Would Lingqi still want to be with us if we tried to take up a second wife?

I know its normal for this setting, but Lingqi is very unconventional. I'm not sure how she would react
>>
>>33574708
Only if we survive long enough for Lu Bu to give us one. And that seems a long way off right now.
>>
>>33574719

Raian mentioned previously in a previous thread that Lingqi would not care very much.
>>
>>33574731

We are going to get one by default if we survive this campaign.

We are likely to get Huiji, the city we just conquered and left Yu Fan, Gao Shun, and Fan Neng to run
>>
>>33574736
You're gonna have to provide a link for that. Cause that seems to go against everything we know about her.

You charge your ship forward, and catch the enemy command ship by surprise. Jumping over to the enemy ship with your elite men, you slay the guards there. The enemy general, with a terrified expression, quickly orders for a lifeboat to save him as you and your men start taking over the ship.

"Coward!" you yell as you slay an enemy soldier and begin running toward him. "Stay and fight like a warrior!"

"General! Run! We will hold the enemy off!"

The enemy soldiers move to the guard the enemy general as he gets on his boat. You grunt as you fight the enemy guards, overpowering them after some minutes of fighting. The enemy general is long gone by then however. You learn later that the enemy general was Lei Bo.

The rest of the battle continues, with your side pushing the enemy back after hours of fighting through the efforts of the generals on your side. Liu Biao's side fares better with their naval experience and warships, crushing the center as the enemy forces begin to retreat. The battle ends in victory with the enemy vanguard demolishes.

The battle goes on for a few more days. The engagements are the same results; with yours and Liu Biao's forces winning engagements. At the end of the week, the enemy is destroyed to a third of its size. You yourself have lost about a thousand and a half men, but still retain strong.

"See the power of my navy?" Cai Mao boasts. "The enemy are nothing to me in the waters."

The sound of horns blow once again, and Yuan Shu's forces come to make another attack.

"What foolish enemies! Engage them directly, and rout them!"

With confidence, Cai Mao orders your side to attack and crush the enemy. You think it's only a matter of time before the entire enemy fleet is wiped out. However...
>>
>>33574736

Did he? I don't remember seeing that in the Q&A.

This time the enemy ships are swift and powerful. They glide like sea monsters, overwhelming the front lines of your side. Cai Mao is surprised.

“What!? Since when did the enemy gain such valor and strength! Push them back, men! They are but remnants of a tired and defeated army!”

The battles goes on, and the allied side takes some losses. You look with gritted teeth as you an enemy command ship move forward to Huang Zu's ship and board.

“Huang Zu! I am Sun Ce, son of the Tiger! I will take your head!”

The young and bold enemy leader slaughters troops on Huang Zu's side, and the frightened Huang Zu has no choice but to flee. (Un)Fortunately, Huang Zu manages to escape, though Sun Ce takes his command ship and morale falls on your side. Cai Mao still pushes the allied ships to counter.

Things are looking slightly bad. You need to stop this man.

see this is why I suggested trying to get Sun ce on side because while dangerous the clan has a good base of Strategists & Generals, a good history with the south & marrying our sister into that clan would possibly dull the potential betrayal and bind the Sun clan to our own & if we do end up marrying Linqui it would bind the three families together.

You spit at the water. Turning around, you raise your spear in the air.

"Why do you cower at the sight of this pup!? He is nothing compared to his father. Watch me take his head!"

You move your ship closes to Sun Ce's ship as the other ships fight on. Take a large raft, you jump off your ship.

"Sun Ce! I am Zhu Xing, General Who Manifests Might! Face me in single combat if you are not a coward!"

Sun Ce looks down from his command ship. Enemy archers notch their arrows to kill you, but Sun Ce raises his hand to put them down.

"Very well! I accept your challenge!"

Sun Ce moves down, and jumps to your boat. With a twist and flurry of move with his sword, he circles around you as you do the same. You can see throwing daggers on his belt; he has a ranged weapon just like yourself.

"The Tiger comes!"

4. Sun Ce -6 HP, Sun Ce -5 HP
5. Sun Ce -8 HP, Zhu Xing -5 HP

You both charge and fly at each other. Sun Ce whirls his sword towards your neck, but you manage to parry and drive him back. With a large leap, you surge forward and begin a flurry of attacks on Sun Ce. He is caught in surprise by your ferocious attacks, and is pushed back.

"Not bad. Why does a man like you serve together with the likes of Liu Biao?"

"And why would you serve a lord like Yuan Shu?" you state back.

"Tch... Fair enough."

You both clash once again, you faring much better despite Sun Ce being stronger than you. As he makes a swing, you give your greatest attack with all your strength and power that breaks his guard.

"Shit!"

Your sword manages to cut across Sun Ce's face. He only manages to survive by jumping back and throwing on his daggers at you, which you manage to parry. Blood streaks across Sun Ce's face.

"...I am the son of the Tiger. I will not back down, until I have taken my vengeance upon Huang Zu."

He wipes the blood of his face, and readies another attack.

We just got back from a campaign to subjugate the southlands. Our int stat is average and I'm pretty sure with our stats we can put two and two together in character.
>>

Sun Jian didn't rule the southlands. He had like some territory. Otherwise why did we have to fight wang Lang and Taishi Ci's master. Did they just take over when sun Jian left or died? To be fucking honest, as it is, we're pretty limited in what we can do.
Even if we take all of Yuan Shu's land, we're going to end up against a solid block of Wei.

Sun Ce, despite his injury, attacks on again and you exchange even blows. As if his spirit his heightened in the face of defeat, his attacks grown stronger and swifter. One of his attacks makes a slash against you stomach, but your armor protects you from an injury. You struggle to push him off, but manage to strike him across the face at the lost moment when he makes an aim for your legs.

Sun Ce now has a bruised eye and blood continues to drop across his face. He readies for another round, but enemy troops come and interrupt your fight.

"Commander! Our troops are being pushed back now! We need to retreat, or we will be doomed here!"

Archers aim their arrows at you.

"Stop!" Sun Ce yells. "Do not stop our fight. Do you dare interrupt a warrior's combat? Back away from us, and let us finish!"

"We will die and be executed if need be! But we must get the Commander so safety!"

"Tsk..." Sun Ce sighs. "Zhu Xing is it? I must act the coward and retreat. But this duel is yours, my congratulations to you."

You grit your teeth, wanting to move forward and kill the man, but the enemy troops present will stop you.

"Fight me again, Zhu Xing, the next time we meet. This scar on my face will remind me to never let such a worthy opponent go."

Sun Ce and the enemy troops begin to retreat. On your side, your own troops come forward and arrive to protect you.

"The enemy commander has been defeated! Forward!" your soldiers shout.

You return to your command ship. The enemy forces do an orderly retreat. Your side suffered some causalities, but it is an enemy defeat nonetheless. The tired men on the allied side manage a cheer.

After the battle's end, you meet with your generals.

“Well fought General. I was awe-struck by your might,” Zhang Liao says with a bow.

“Hmph... I would have taken the enemy's head, you know,” Lingqi says with a smile, but a pleased one.

“The General is truly from the heavens!” Song Xian declares with a nod. “Cheers for the general!”

The soldiers on your side cheer, and you nod in acceptance. Though you did not kill Sun Ce, you managed to wound him and had him sent back. Soon enough the cheers fall as Cai Mao's ship comes nears yours.

“Bah... That whelp is more powerful than we imagined...” Cai Mao says with a frown. “But well done, General Zhu. Your forces contributed to our navy's victory.”

Cai Mao smiles.

“The enemy has been defeated, and our waters are secured for now. General Zhu, may we return to Jing to celebrate? We have the finest foods and wine, and I am certain Lord Liu Biao would be gracious to meet you. Please, accept Jing's hospitality and thanks, and stay for a month or so.”

You are slightly surprised by the offer. You think on the issue. It is highly unlikely that this is some kind of trap; killing you or taking you hostage would serve little benefit to their force should an angry Lu Bu come back to attack Jing with an army while making a truce with Yuan Shu. Staying and getting to know Jing's officers and Liu Biao might prove fruitful in the future for your force's relationship with theirs. After thinking for a few more seconds, you decide it is for the best to accept. While there is a marriage between the Liu and Lu clan, and having won a battle here, the alliance between your two forces could be strengthened more. Learning about Jing would also not be a liability for the near future.

“I humbly accept your offer,” you reply to Cai Mao. “General Zhang Liao?” you say turning to him.

Zhang Liao nods, understanding the situation.

“I will lead the rest of the forces back. I will make sure our defenses are up and leave the administration to Master Yan Jun. Safe journeys, General.”

With a nod of thanks, you move away from your ship to Cai Mao's. Cai Mao smiles in appreciation.

“Come, General! Let us share drinks for winning this battle!”

The rest of the travel to Jing has Cai Mao treating you extremely well. He gives you a personal room on the ship, with a comfortable bed and makes servants attend to your every need. On the arrival of Jing, you depart the ship with a horse riding next to Cai Mao. You look around Jing, and notice that it is a rich and powerful land.

“Jing is the jewel of our land, “Cai Mao states in pleasure. “We have abundant harvests, great merchants that come to trade. We have scholars that have moved here to study learning of Lord Liu Biao's benevolence. The rivers protect our great land, and we shall never see defeat.”

You nod in silence. Jing is powerful indeed.... But then why have they not managed to conquer the land? You ascertain that it is because Liu Biao is too peaceful of a man.

You arrive at the city of Jiang Xia. Cai Mao beckons you to the grand hall of the city, and throws a huge feast with women and lavish food. You manage to enjoy yourself, and even you can admit Cai Mao has treated you very well despite you disliking him at the start of the meeting. In due time, the feast ends.

“Now...” Cai Mao says, swirling a cup of wine. “General, I was hoping... We could talk about a few things,” Cai Mao says with a smile. “Politics and the like.”

It seems Cai Mao has been treating you well for this moment... How do you reply to him?

>Do go on, General
>I am weary of politics, I think I would like to stay away

"Do go on, General," you reply. In your head, you already knew something like was going to happen when Cai Mao invited you over to Jing, and knowing his reputation.

"Yes, yes," Cai Mao says with a smile. "Here, another drink," Cai Mao says pouring your cup.

"Now then..." Cai Mao begins. "Lord Lu Bu has wed his daughter to Lord Liu Cong. We have of course, treated Lady Lu very well. She has been given a hundred servants, and we make certain that she is comfortable here every day," Cai Mao says with a smile. "Our young master and Lady Lu are also very much in love, and they have a much heartening relationship. I am glad to see such young ones happy."

You listen to Cai Mao, placing a hand on your chin.

"Lord Liu Cong is a talented and handsome man. The people of Jing love him... And I believe they would like to see him as the next lord. However..."

Cai Mao makes a sweeping gesture, and places a hand on his head.

"However, our Lord Liu Biao has not decided on a heir yet. He believes perhas, that young master Liu Qi should succeed, being the eldest. However, young master Liu Qi is very sickly... He is not someone who can lead Jing. I worry for the future of this province should he become the heir. And, General Zhu, I was hoping to improve the relationship between our forces with Lord Liu Cong becoming the next in line."

At this point, Cai Mao smiles again.

"General Zhu Xing, I would just like a small favor from you. Would you support Lord Liu Cong as the next heir? For the future of the people of Jing... And for our everlasting relationship with Lord Lu Bu."

Silence befalls the room. You think and assess on the situation. Cai Mao, his sister being the mother of Liu Cong, highly benefits should Liu Cong become heir. Your forces would also highly benefit, as Lu Bu's first daughter is married to Liu Cong. You can see why Cai Mao wants to arrange this move.

What do you say?

It's cool man, thank you for contributing to this thread like a rational person
>>
>>33576711

No? Lady Cai will attempt to kill Liu Qi (probably) but we need to help ensure that he lives, at least.
>>
>>33576700
Honestly >>33576474
Was the smartest move.
It meant that we kept etiquette, didn't speak out of place, and don't have to wait months for a messenger from Cheng Gong about what we shouldn't or should do, when it's blindingly obvious there's no wrong part about speaking a few words out, as long as we aren't speaking out of place
>>
>>33576597
>>Accept, and say you will give a few words
Only if he asks
>>
>>33576597
>Accept, and say you will give a few words
People are being paranoid because of metaknowledge. There's no downside to this if directly asked. Even the most cynical would just believe, "Of course he would say that Lu Bu's daughter is married to him".
>>
>>33576725

But Liu Qi isn't married to Lu Bu's daughter, it's Liu Cong.

The Cais and Lu Bu forces have a mutual interest here. The Cais don't benefit from us (and Lu Bu) being implicated because it makes their heir look like a conspirator.

I don't understand, maybe I'm missing something?
>>
>>33576733
I think half of everyone thought we were somehow forcing someone to usurp Liu Biao.
Honestly this is buttfuck retarded
>>
>>33576737

Yes and Lady Cai is trying to let Liu Cong be the one to inherit.

Liu Qi is the eldest son, and my tradition, the first in line. He needs to go for succession to go to the second son.
>>
>Liu Qi is assassinated by Cao Mao
>Liu Cong and Lu Bu faction is blamed
>Liu Biao has no heirs left
>"Imperial Uncle" swoops down and "inherits" Jing

Time for BENEVOLENCE 2.0

>>33576747

So why is that anon saying that we should save the eldest son?

"Hmph... Very well, I shall give Liu Biao these thoughts on the matter should he convey them to me."

"Very good, very good," Cai Mao says with a nod and smile. "Now... I will arrange a meeting for you and Lord Liu Biao in the coming days. We shall travel to Xiang Yang, and there I shall present you to Lord Liu Biao."

"Very well..."

"Oh and... General Huang Zu was quite rude to you, no? Do mention that to Lord Liu Biao as well if he asks. It broke my heart when he acted such brusquely to you, General."

---------------------------------------

As Cai Mao said, you spend another week of travel to the city of Xiang Lang. When you enter the city, you notice that is indeed grand and rich. You see numerous scholars and the land looks quite peaceful. Though Liu Biao may not have had any ambition, he certainly has ruled an able land.

About an hour in to waiting, Cai Mao presents you to Liu Biao.

"Lord Liu Biao, may I present, General Zhu Xing who fought with us to repel the rebel Yuan Shu."

"Thank you, Brother," Liu Biao replies with a nod. He turns to you with a kind smile as you bow. Walking to you, he lifts you back up.

"It is a pleasure of mine to meet a hero of our times. Please, let us have a share of wine..."

Liu Biao leads you to a side room, and servants pour wine. He compliments you, and unlike Cai Mao, you can read that Liu Biao's compliments are genuine and heartfelt.

"I thank you for your support in defeating Yuan Shu..."

You have some light conversations with him. But as Cai Mao noted... In due time, the talk of succession comes up... Liu Biao sighs.

"Liu Cong is a handsome child... He reminds me of myself when I was younger," Liu Biao says with a sad smile. "My eldest son, Liu Qi, is somewhat sickly. I have no named myself an heir yet... Sometimes I feel I should choose the eldest as is proper, but perhaps I should choose Liu Cong. You are an intelligent man, Zhu Xing. What do you think?"

>Support Liu Cong as planned
>Support Liu Qi
>Keep out

Raian, this thread is about to get bumped off the board. Part 2 and Q&A in a second thread?

We are an officer of Lu Bu. Liu Cong is married to Lu Bu's daughter. Liu Biao is asking us for our opinion, unprompted.

There is no reason people will be surprised or alarmed that we support Liu Cong.
>>
>>33576765
>>Support Liu Cong as planned

The country is in turmoil, to maintain Jing as a land of peace and wealth, the successor should be strong of mind and body.

Putting a sickly man in the position would only weaken his health from the stress and send him to an early grave.

I do elect we mention Cai Mao'ss persistence about this. If this guy is as goodly as he seems it should be said.

For the love of God, Cai Mao is our ally here. There's no sense in throwing him under the bust.
>>
>>33576752

For one, he was actually a decent military commander, fought against cao cao with liu bei after he fled Jing.

...Also it opens up some very interesting political options.

Liu Cong is a weak leader, against cao cao his advisors advised to surrender and he did so.

Possibly we could attack before cao cao does. And in doing so, possibly recruit sun ce by offering him huang zu's head if we do so. We conquer their faction, put liu qi as a sub-leader under our control, gain the warriors of the sun for helping them in their quest to avenge their father.
>>
>>33576858

You are really going to attack our Lord's son-in-law and close ally?
>>
>>33576858

Can Zhu Xing possibly do all of that shit?
>>
"In the line of succession... It always befalls on the eldest son to succeed," you state. "However, I have heard that Lord Liu Qi is sick, and his health deteriorates. Lord Liu Cong on the other hand is healthy, and he is loved by the people of Jing. I am but a simple general... And I dare not advise you on your succession Lord Liu Biao. But in my humble opinion, it may be best that Lord Liu Cong be next in line."

Liu Biao rubs his beard. Your words have convinced him somewhat, as he nods his head, but Liu Biao does not look fully convinced. Your opinion likely will affect his decision in the future however...

Part 10 end. More Jing stuff next week, same time.

+2 Lead, +2 War, +3 Pol, +1 Cha.

Questions, complaints, whatev, shoot.
>>
>>33576863

I'm offering it as a option but giving asylum to the eldest son would not be remiss in itself.
>>
While we are here, it would be absurdly good for us to visit Zhuge Liang, even if we don't manage to recruit him, there's a high chance we can get some absurd INT boosts.
>>
>>33576858

You don't attack if Liu Cong is the leader. You can use familial relationships and Lu Bu's might to say that Jing should be under the protection of his mighty father in law.

Liu Cong would govern Jing as normal.

I want us to visit Zhuge Liang, many posters here are convinced we can learn something from him.

Perhaps we can buy something he's written?
>>
>>33576893
Zhuge Liang in the novels was basically a master of every non-combat art, he's seriously a damn genius in romance
>>
>>33576872
Can we suggest that Liu Biao not trust Cai Mao? We can't have someone like that on the other side of the succession.
>>
>>33576872

Any advice on making our plans simple and not overtly complex?

Any recruiting opportunities in Jing? (Dismissing Zhuge Liang for a second)
>>
>>33576912
Zhuge Liang only kept one book at his home, and that was to keep track of the date.
We could go and simply talk to him about strategy. Or maybe recruit one of his brothers, since one of them worked in Wu.
>>
>>33576923

Wouldn't that give more credibility to Huang Zu's faction (implied) which supports the other successor?

Let's just keep our fat mouth shut.
>>
>having this much of a manboner for Zhuge Liang

He wasn't even the best strategist of his faction, for fucks sake.
>>

I'm also happy to see us level up a bit, especially in the WAR and LEADERSHIP stats

No, not Liu Biao's line of succession, Lu Bu's line of succession. Liu Cong is married to Lu Bu's first daughter.
>>
>>33576934
He was in Romance, we're not going of of historical here.
We're going off of the romance of the three kingdoms.
Where Zhuge Liang could read everyone like a book and created strategies in ten seconds that would put ten strategists to shame even with days of preparation.

There's an entire portion of the pre-Chibi battle dedicated to wanking Zhuge Liang, and it's fucking absurd
>>
>>33576951

Shouldn't we warn Lu Bu of that?
>>
>>33576953
So it's just the shufags being shufags, gotcha
>>
>>33576958

I think hes thought of that.

Hence his constant banging of that fine diao chan ass, hoping to bang out a son.
>>
>>33576872

This is obviously meta, but are you going off purely ROTK or using a mixture of the novel, history, and other derivative work in evaluating the characters and their personalities?
>>
>>33576961
Well, I must admit the author of ROTK did overblown their achievements quite a bit.
>>
>>33576963
