Previously: Cerulean arrived upon a mysterious island after a mission to rescue shipwrecked personnel had gone awry due to mysterious humanoid monsters.

Meeting the natives, Cerulean found aid in the form of a humanoid monster by the name of Kurojo, a tusked Kahkori of Kakarkiko island.

With his and his uncle's help, she had been reunited with Marine, her friend from training and childhood.

After killing a fierce foe reviled by Kahkori, Cerulean fell ill, and was given a cure by Kurojo. In the village, she learned of a strange ability and found herself able to utilize "Aura."

Journeying with Kurojo, Cerulean and Marine make it to the joint city of races amongst the island chain. It is there in Raguna city that she fights to the death with a rambunctious Smolderan.
Slipping out of her right mind, she executes her foe with absolute certainty, earning her some recognition with a Smolderan leader and the right to engage in a hunting exam at his request.

Cerulran takes a test with another species known as the Araraki, an infallibly polite and timid representative of her people.
Upon completing the hunt, they are put through a naming ceremony and engage in some festivities, taking a somewhat heavier turn as Akabaron, Vi-Smohkan of the Smolderan, goes over his deal with Cerulean.

Charter the construction of a boat with Kurojo's aid...

“I don't want to go back.” Marine whispers indignantly as she swings from the hammock beneath you.

For a moment, you don't say anything as you stare at the ceiling high with the bones of some colossal beast for framework. This bunkhouse and hall are much bigger than any of the ranger barracks. Up on high there are some Kahkori and Araraki beds that'd require expert leaps to get to. Kurojo chose to take Smolder beds with you and Marine.

All day, you'd heard of the history of not just these people, but yours. Hao revealed to you what Silph or even the rockets had ever told you. Did they not know? Or was it that they were hiding it? They couldn't have just not known. Silph knows everything.

They know everything and they never told you. And what's that about your mother? She lived a thousand years ago. But without a doubt, you're her daughter. You have her hair. And Marine has misty's... But you don't remember your mother's face.
“I'm going back.” You breath with a quivering lip. Bringing your arm up, to your eyes you breath once more with stinging eyes. “I'm going back because I need to know. I want to know... Is she really my mom? And if she's not... What am I?” Tears slide out.
“What are we?”

You can hear Marine turn over below. Her voice is steady, calm. “I don't want to know. It's why I don't want to go back.”

“How can you not want to know? If our entire lives have been a lie? What if we're not who we think we are?”

Marine's quiet again. “Because here, it doesn't matter. And I'm not stupid Ceru. If we go back they'll just take it all away.”
>>
Naruto when?
>>
It's then that you realize- Marine's right. If you go back. If it's boss, or Sabrina, or Silph... They'd take everything from you that they don't want. The memory of the dead Alexis flashes through the darkness of your closed eyes. You didn't remember that until recently. It was buried until recently.

There's a calmness in a part of your being, like a sickening empty-headed saccharine. Wouldn't that be alright? You could return to boss- to all of your friends back home. Everything would be normal again. You'd forget all this ever happened.

You'd be a Ranger again.

>It's a hard choice Ceru. But you know that it'd be inevitable.
>[] Maybe... That would be alright.
>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.
>[] Marine's right. We can't go back. We can never go back.
>[] (Other)

>[X] Maybe... That would be alright.

Sabrina might if she had her way, but I still trust in Boss. He listens to us and even let us know about the indigo reports.

I place my trust with the Boss.
>>
>>33583832
Meant to add:
>[X] (Other) Trust in the Boss.
>>
>>33583832
That's more of the third option, isn't it?

>>33583747
>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.

>>
>>33583747
>>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.

Yes, Ygg. We want to go back the the dome.

How many more times are we going to be asked this question, anyways? 9?
>>
>>33583916
Until we show up to the dome and find a colony of Dittos there.

>We can't stay here either, Marine. You know that, too, right? It might not happen now, but there might be a war here someday. I don't know why Akabaron wanted the repel tech, but whatever his intentions are, I don't know if all the Smolder are willing to ignore all its possibilities.
>>
>>33583747
Sabrina might. I don't think boss would.
It would be REAL convenient to tell marine about the indigo reports and getting along with machops under rocket jurisdiction. But we can't.
so, one of these

>[] Maybe... That would be alright.
>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.
With a heavy helping of
"We are NOT going to report to sabrina or sylph, that's for damn sure"

Fight those who would take our memories away? Yes. Fight the Boss? Nope.
>>
>>33583958
He wanted the repel tech to bypass the monsters of the ocean.
>>
>>33583959
That assumes Boss is at the Dome, or not preoccupied with a Legendary.
>>
>>33583990
That would truly be horrible luck
>>
>>33583959
I have to agree with this as it's somewhere between the two options of
>>[X] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.
&
>[X] Maybe... That would be alright.

If we were allowed to tell her about the reports this might be different but our lips are sealed.
>>
>>33583747
>>33583958
This.

>>33583962
I don't think "trust in the Boss" would help in this situation if Marine suspects the Boss from someone having his name being responsible for why the pokeballs stopped working.
>>
>>33583962
The problem is that if we -are- dealing with clones, which we likely are, boss is just as much under the thumb of the natural/original/whatever the hell humans are that work for silph.

Hao also mentioned offhand that the original team rocket might have had something to do with the original cataclysm, and that he knew of the name, "Giovanni."
From 1000 years ago.

>>33584023
>>33583959
>It would be REAL convenient to tell marine
>tell her about the reports

Why DON'T we? There's literally no reason not to. We both already know too mnuch and more than those reports could ever entail at this point.

Besides, if we go back and get caught it's likely going to be instant brain cleansing or getting killed off to protect the public from the truth.
>>
>>33584033
So, which asshole fucked up with the Master Ball?
>>
>>33583747
>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.

>>33584023
Well. Why can't we? At this point, there's NO POINT in hiding the Indigo Reports. It was JUST revealed to us.

>Tell Marine that she's right. Some people WOULD want to take the memory away from us. But Giovanni won't; he already stopped that once.
>>
>>33584067
>why don't we
Well, it would hurt our clout and bargaining power upon getting back to the dome. That's the biggest/most practical reason.
>>
>>33583990
I am now imagining Boss fist fighting one of the Legendary pokemon.

>>33584033
True and I'm not saying we should tell her that but that we personally trust the boss. As for talking to her I would suggest adding in >>33583958

I don't think the war is such a big deal so much as...
What if they find out, marine?

The ferrines already are onto us. REALLY onto us.
>>
>>33583747
>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.

>>33583958
Actually basically every leader on the island (with exception to the other 2 Smolder leaders who we don't know of) said things wouldn't be that bad if they could just escape from the islands. Smolders are pretty much on the verge of accomplishing that so if that technology gets shared that could potentially take away a lot of the tension in the region.

>>33583959
We would probably be forced to report it to them and end up mind wiped (Though that would be a hell of a mind wipe to cover the months we were away, evolved, and got branded with a Hunter's mark among other things). If we do return I'd say to do a repeat of what we did before learning about the Indigo reports: Grab Devon since he's immune to esper bullshit and run to the boss to tell everything.
>>
>>33583995
Zapdos already appeared, I wouldn't put it past Ygg to destroy the Dome with a Legendary or Silph experiments gone wild. The only questions are "which ones" and "when".
>>
>>33584095
I support telling Marine this.

I think it was the whole "You are sworn to secrecy" part.
>>
>>33584095
Yeah. That happened already. There's no reason why we can't tell Marine about the Indigo Reports now under these circumstances.

>>33584112
How so?

>>33584118
We CAN say that, whatever that guy from the past named Giovanni did, the Giovanni we know is at least open to the possibility of interacting with the outer Dome people.

>>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.

we can always run back here ...
>>
>>33584191
Well, it's no longer a secret to Marine. She knows these people are human now. So we can tell her that the Dome knows too. At least, its leaders. As for how to break it to her gently
>>33584200
This is good. It gives a reasonable explanation why we couldn't tell her.
>>
>>33583747
>I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.
There are too many people I care about to let this go.

We revealed a secret when it was convenient to us.
This might make them suspicious of revealing secrets again in the future.

Might not be the biggest of deals, but it IS a thing.

Let's get thinking on this NOW.
How can we get to giovanni without sylph or sabrina interference?

Answer? Dark rangers.
Giovanni has dark rangers.
>>
>>33584274
You know, they could just get rid of Devon.

We're talking about North Korea/Russia/Corporate America.
If we or anyone else threatens the socioeconomic balance, we- and everyone we associate with risk getting "removed."

Guys, I don't know. Becoming Hao's blushing bride or at least a permanent hunter is starting to sound a lot better now.
>>
>>33584165
>Actually basically every leader on the island (with exception to the other 2 Smolder leaders who we don't know of) said things wouldn't be that bad if they could just escape from the islands. Smolders are pretty much on the verge of accomplishing that so if that technology gets shared that could potentially take away a lot of the tension in the region.
That would be the ship engine, right?

That would require the Kahkori and the Smolder trusting each other enough to cooperate. The Smolder don't have the trust of the tuskless, definitely; the tuskless are too conservative to risk it. And if we told the Smolder about metal ships, that's even worse. Steel ships and the ability to move unhindered on the seas by either monsters or the waves? That's a recipe for war.
>>
>>33584326
Query: How to contact them?
Query: How can they identify us?
Query: How can they ensure we have not been compromised?

Are we just going to get lucky and stumble into Goldy and Devon on a mission having a makeout session after months of UST?
>>
>>33584368
We're going to get hunted by Smolders for our tasty, tasty knowledge. That's a problem.
>>
>>33584386
Hopefully: Yes we will get lucky.
Otherwise:
Camp outside of the dome for months on end observing until such time as we can isolate dark rangers and explain to them that rocket (code number whatever our code number is) has a message for giovanni, TOP SECRET, and he is to send a cadre of dark rangers out here to receive it. Nobody else must know. It is SUPER top secret, guy.
>>
>>33584419
Tuskless protection or siding with them in the first place as a deterrent if "war were declared."
>>
>>33584434
That might be a good idea.

Maybe the Dark Ranger we encounter will be Devon himself or Lilac.
>>
>>33584434
Well, someone pointed out that there would be an expedition out of the Dome last thread. It's unlikely that we could just walk up to the Domes and knock on the door. That's not suitably dramatic enough. So Prof may have planned for us to bump into that expedition.

>>33583747
>[] I... I can't let them do that. Even if I go back. I'd fight them if I had to. I want answers.

God damn this is early.
>>
>>33584434
>we can isolate dark rangers
I really hope the psychic enclave hasn't banished more assholes to come here, or this plan will come apart right there and then.
>>
>>33584485
I know it might not happen but what if The Boss redirected the mission to find his favorite trainee and they find us on our way to the Dome
>>
>>33584554
then goddamn we are super lucky
WE HAVE TO TELL YOU SOME SHIT BOSS
Marine, hide while I am telling boss shit. If they mindwipe me, run.
>>
>>33584554
That's impossibly unlikely.

I also just realized how SnK this has become.

If we go back and want to keep the answers, we're rebels. The MP will be after us along with Anti-human rangers and psychics.
This is the darkest route that Ceru can take,

It's also the one that the Araraki might be okay with.
>>
>>33584592
Shush. They won't know about all that.
And, if we do things RIGHT, then only giovanni will get the message, he'll be able to do his part, and peaceful contact will be formed. All without us getting moidered.
>>
>>33584554
Heh, that would have to be an expedition into the sea.

No, we just have to hope we're lucky enough that the expedition group that was sent out is still out by the time we return.

>>33584619
IF we're lucky enough to find the expedition group, aside from the possibility of our friends being there, it would be headed by some of the Rocket's rangers.
>>
>>33584485
Actually once we get our stuff back should we be able to contact them once we are close? Like send a message to the Boss or to Devon?
>>
>>33584655
I forgot!
Our index has FUCKING RADIO!
We can send phantom radio signals to the dome, and retreat after sending before they triangulate where it came from.
>>
>>33584655
I don't know if we can send messages outside of the Dome. I'm not sure if being close enough to its, uh, dome means we're close enough to catch or send any signals.

>>33584671
The Dome can't really receive signals from the outside. No towers capable of receiving signals from the outside.
>>
>>33584671
Careful, that looks like an ambush... 'ware friendly fire. Especially friendly hellfire.
>>
>>33584694
Well, we'll see if trans-dome messages work. If I recall, the whole thing was wired up with relays.

If not, then we can try to signal friendly patrols.

>>33584700
Yes, the plan is risky. But it minimizes chances of brainwipe.
>>
>>33584700
We don't need to worry so much about getting attacked if we actually had the use of our radio outside the Dome, but we do need to be careful of who we encounter. After Ni'Abras, the Espers may be more involved with security now.
>>
>>33584619
>If

This is AoPH. Something will go wrong. The chances of boss only receiving this message is fucking astronomical.

And you remember why Evil rangers are so difficult to manage, right? Because they're FUCKING CRAZY.

>>33584650
If not even the rockets know the truth about what happened, then how are we supposed to get them to believe us?

"So hey, I just kind of got lost outside of the dome and met some metahumans that totally told us about what the fuck happened a thousand effing years ago.
We were all humans that could capture monsters in tiny balls and fought with them in stylized tournaments. Yeah, the metas are totally cool too.
One finger-fucked Marine and... And... Wait, what are you writing?"

"Official report. Found Ranger Cerulean in the wilderness after having gone mad and delusion."

"What? I'm not delusional! It's the truth."

Then he kills us and writes us off as terminated.
>>
>>33584671
Rather, we radio when close to the dome looking for groups of rangers on the outside.

Or when we're close enough to home we start thinking really hard at Goldenrod and Alexis
>>
>>33584737
This seems incredibly pessimistic, even by our standards.
>>
>>33584737
Uh. No. All the full-fledged Rockets know about the Indigo Reports.
>>
>>33584737
>>33584764
>“I did not feel that your rangers were ready to hear the full extent of the Indigo reports. Often it is reserved between the Elite Four, We Leaders, the Rockets and whomever else we select. You know that-”

Elite 4, Gym Leaders, and Rockets know. Usually not the cadets, obviously, but they'll know once they've completely graduated.
>>
>>33584743
>we start thinking really hard at Goldenrod and Alexis

>Sabrina ports in.
"Oh. You. You're supposed to be dead."

>>33584764
Indigo reports don't mention boss as being the cause of the cataclysm or the fact that we totally don't even need the domes if everyone lets themselves become monsters and overthrow silph.

We're looking at a civil war people.
>>
>>33584796
>lets themselves become monsters and overthrow silph
FUCK that. No, seriously.

Nobody would want to live for several generations outside of the dome to try to gain mutations. Unaugmented humans wouldn't even want to spend ONE year outside the dome.
>>
>>33584796
>Indigo reports don't mention boss as being the cause of the cataclysm or the fact that we totally don't even need the domes if everyone lets themselves become monsters and overthrow silph.
Giovanni's gonna schmooze over that, obviously.
>Oh, no, we're clones. So I'm definitely not like that other guy. No way.
That said, Giovanni hasn't probed our minds.

>we totally don't even need the domes if everyone lets themselves become monsters
Not true. The ones who have a high M-count could, conceivably, survive long enough to mutate.
>>
>>33584823
Civil War.

The entire population of rangers could easily fuck right off and even take a portion of sympathetic citizenry with them.
Hell, if the leaders get a split so much as half and half, or even three supporting it'd only depend on which leaders they were after that.

Pewter would definitely be for the idea of not laboring under Silph anymore. Don't know about the others though.
>>
>>33584796
>if everyone lets themselves become monsters
That's not a good plan at all. That's survival of the fittest taken to the extreme, where the 'fittest' are the people who have a high M-virus count and are lucky enough to hide until they start mutating.
>>
At the end of the day, the goals might have to be about getting the truth to the Populace. They can't mindwipe a whole dome.
>>
>>33584796
>Looking at a civil war.

No SHIT! If we go back we are going to be debriefed. Via mind Reading. And get completely wiped when Boss refuses to protect us due to us know HIS secrets. Or at the least the secrets of his ancestors/clones forefathers.

Why cant we just say fuck all of that and go on ADVENTURE! out into the wild open world?
>>
>>33584897
I don't think anybody wants a civil war and it doesn't seem like a likely response to this information.
>>
>>33584897
>The entire population of rangers could easily fuck right off and even take a portion of sympathetic citizenry with them.
That's really reminiscent of Sidonia no Kishi.

There were human settlements outside the dome long enough to have KIDS and they hadn't mutated yet.

We are at absolutely zero risk of the dome rebelling to go live and mutate outside of the dome, since it takes so long and has SUCH a high mortality rate.

>>
>>33585028
Oh yeah, forgot about that. They've been there for quite a few years already.
>>
>>33584990
I thought the human settlement just outside the dome consisted of recently-kidnapped humans, who've only had, like, one or two generations, and probably didn't have a high enough M-virus count to mutate as rapidly as Red did.
>>
>>33584737
>Everything in this post.

Dear gods above and beyond, ALL OF THIS. All of this getting dumped on any if their desks would be enough to write us off as dead and gone. Boss would not protect us due to his secrets being in there. Sabrina hates us and wants us dead. Our Mother cannot protect us from 100000 miles away. The other leaders would hand us over to Silph for termination. Going back is suicide.

>>33585065

So, like he said, absolutely no chance of civil war because nobody wants to live outside the dome for an entire generation without being literally brainwashed.
>>
>>33585065
Uh, no. They've been there for a long while.

Ni'Abras bride, for example, was kidnapped as a child. And as an Esper, she'd have an especially high M-virus count.
>>
>>33585069
It's not really that convincing since it requires us saying things in the dumbest, craziest way possible, and is entirely predicated on the boss violating character in an extreme manner.

Dear gods. The best way to do it would be to integrate with one of the empire's races.
>>
>>33585069
Uh. No. Aside from the existence of pokeballs, the Rockets are fully-informed of the fact that people mutated into monsters.
>>
>>33585102
It seems your entire platform is based on a large percentage of the dome being not only willing, but jumping for the chance to flee through hostile territory, lose most of their number, and have sex with what they view as unpleasant and ugly at best.
>>
>>33585095
What if he's not even aware of that secret?

You clench a fist, your claws digging into your palm as they peek out sending hypercold twinges of pain running up your arm.
Running away won't resolve this painful feeling in your heart. With brief video evidence and a few words you've lost your identity. Hao, with as much information lies under his fingertips doesn't know the truth of you. What you are. Only the dome knows. Only Silph knows.

And the boss... You're conflicted about whether you can trust him. Part of you says that you should, clinging to the idea that he'll have answers and protect you from those that want to take away everything you've learned.

But you won't let them. You'll get your answers and you won't let them.

“Marine...” You grit your teeth, flinching a bit at the pain, the taste of copper filling your mouth.

“What Ceru.”

“I'm going back. I'm going to get answers. And I won't let them take them away from me Marine. I won't let them if it kills me. I have to know.”

Marine's quiet again, you can feel her inner conflict, her reluctance.

“Will you help me?”

Marine's aura locks up. Her feelings suddenly suppressed, slowly turning to resolve. “If I don't, who will? You'll just get killed or something without me, right?”

Taking your arm away, you can't help but breakoff and look down at her, your hammock swinging dangerously.

“You're telling that to the one that completed two years of Rocket Training?”

Marine's dull expression meets yours, and she forces out a smile, “A year and a half. And I did Cerulean and Pewter training and Rocket training.”

A gentle sigh, and you drop it, relaxing at the edge of the hammock, “So long as you're with me Marine...”

“If we're going back... I want to change the dome.” You hear Marine say. “I think that if people lived outside they might like it. The air's nicer out here. It's kind of dirty, yeah... But there's something about it that's just tasty...”

You take a breath of the air, tasting it on your tongue, within your nostrils. The smells are kind of bad, even in the bunkhouse. But there's something to them. “Yeah. You're right Marine...”
>>
>>33585467
She's fine with it.

That said, she can't really be trusted to actually DO anything, considering her conservative approach to raising Lilac.
>>
>>33585493
I dunno you two
I don't think people would like it much outside the dome.

Not unless we were ON TOP of our fucking game with repel tech and ranger patrols.
>>
>>33585467
We already know she isn't that mad.

Like when she saw just how far Lilac was willing to go, Agatha decided to let her be a Ranger and then come back when she got bored with it/everyone she knew was dead.
>>
>>33585493
Hey now, let's not get crazy.

It would be a slaughter for everyone who doesn't have a very high M-Virus count.

Are we forgetting that in Kanto, EVERYTHING is poisonous?
>>
>>33585516
The Rangers would have to be the ones to pioneer it. But that's their job. To pioneer.
>>
>>33585550
Yeah, kanto might be a bad place to try this.

It's a good thought to want to reclaim the world outside the dome but we have to do it SUPER careful if at all.

Because it's very dangerous.
>>
>>33585560
We still need to consider that there's a lot more people in the Dome then there are in Hunter Islands.

Really, the real problem is trying to fight the psychic hegemony.
>>
>>33585593
Small communities are possible, but to actually have a large city would be impossible unless there's a large enough defense force (ie; not just civvies with guns) to protect it from threats.
>>
>>33583693
Hey I didn't notice this started, damn.
>>
>>33585560
>>33585623
Yeah, the dome has a LOT more people. They're much more difficult to watch outside of the safe zone.

>>33585630
I'm not advocating emptying out the entire dome or anything.

But a few outlying towns, that might one day grow into more? Yeah, that might be nice.

Might turn out to be ultimately unviable since nobody wants to go due to the danger, though.
>>
>>33585550
And, ironically, the best defense against the poisonous beasties are Psychics, but the Espers are our biggest problem.

Both the ones inside the dome, and the Abra/Eubrana.
>>
>>33585660
Or people slowly mutating into monsters from exposure and shit.
>>

The next day comes and you're summoned again to meet with Hao. Once more you put on fancy dresses and makeup and sit before him. This time he stays behind his screen, lounging upon his chair somewhat lazily.

“Ah, Lady Cerulean. So nice to meet your acquaintance again. Perhaps today you will confess your love for me?”

You blush, frowning deeply at his annoying play again. Hao throws his head back to laugh, “I jest, I jest! Really, I do jest. Have you thought on what we'd spoken of the prior day? “

“Yes,” You nod. Taking in a deep breath, you clutch at your chest to stop your heart from quivering so much, “I want to return to Kanto-City. I'll talk to people there...” You falter a little, trying to make it sound easy. It won't be. Not with Silph, and Sabrina, and the ones that support them. “I want to find out exactly who I am...” You look to Marine, “And to see if our people are ready to leave the dome, or even allow the people from here to be friends.”

“Friends?” Hao asks as though it were such a simple, amusing thing. Another chuckle and he says, “Well, it would certainly be a start, that's for sure.”

You nod, rubbing at one of your sleeves affectionately, your fingers touching the soft silk of your robes today. It's weird... Being here kind of makes you feel like the president's daughter.
“We will assist you.”
>>
Hao's sudden statement actually takes you by surprise. Not a request, not a demand, not even coercion. “You mean...”

“We will do what we can to find you a way off of these islands. In doing so, we may find our own way and avert the inevitable war that we've been holding off since the last.” Hao bows his head behind the screen. “We've thought on it since last we spoke and it would solidify our mutual futures. We must tell this to our emperor, yet even if he disagrees, We will use our own resources to see it through.”

Hao rises and bows, “We are sure you are aware what a promise means to a Kahkori.”

“I know you hate breaking them.”

“It is a bond of mutual trust. That we trust in you to rely upon us, and that you trust in us enough to know that we will see it through.” Hao takes his seat again.

“Do you know of a way beyond the monsters of the sea?” You ask, and you feel as though Hao has closed his eyes.

“There is a monster... It is known as the Lord of White Waves. It has not been slain due to the depth at which it dives to escape. Our hunters are unable to pursue and those that do are boiled alive by its power. We believe... that by outfitting a ship with the help of Araraki beastsmiths we may be able to create a ship that can kill monsters that draw too near.”

“You mean... Like, augment the ship with the monster?”

Hao nods, “It is the most likely way that I can think of. We've never been able to finish of such a beast before... Smolder are unwilling to go on hunts to the calm seas where the creature lives, and most Araraki are against boarding ships made of wood even if their own vessels are laughably unseaworthy.”
“Well then, would you take the hunt?”

“We'll do it... Though we'll need time to train if this thing is really as dangerous as you say...” You look to Marine. She's got a look on her face that lets you know just how much she relishes this challenge.

Back to Hao, “If we succeed in this hunt, would it be possible for the spoils to go to the Smolder? I believe that they'll be able to make better use of the monster than the Araraki.”

Hao seems rather confused, or more than that, intrigued, “And why would you say that?”

“A feeling. If the Araraki could help the Smolder though...”

“That is completely out of the question. In no world could we imagine the Araraki assisting the Smolodhans willingly.” Hao shakes his head, wearily.

“We could try to convince them.” Marine butts in. You look to her, but she gives you a look right back,”Ceru and I talked with them yesterday. They might help if we tell them the Smolder are gonna leave.”

Hao swallows dryly at that, “Surely not all of them. Though enough may... So long as Kahkori oversee the usage, We will allow it. We will make preparations for the hunt of the unkillable. If there's anything you'd like to do in that time, you should take care of it. Once we have a crew, a plan, and a ship ready to sail there will be no going back. It will be an imperial request of the Hunter's guild. It is likely that many will leap at the chance to dip into my riches and become legends forever... Live or die.”

Hao makes it clear. This hunt could potentially be a suicidal one... But it's the only chance that you've got at returning to the dome.

The problem would be getting it entrapped in the first place. Marine's strong, but she'd be too vulnerable on the approach. We'd have to take its attention.

Blizzard might actually be useful in this case, though. It can obscure sight and smell, so if we used it to cover Marine's approach, she might be able to get restraints on the monster.

From Hao's you leave wearing the same clothes that you left with the previous day along with the snow-styled kimono recently washed after your unfortunate “Accident”

Meeting with Nala is a brief one, you tell her of what Hao has in mind, and she seems more or less unsurprised.

“We figured that we'd need something like that. In fact, we've tried hunting the thing in the past.” She throws back a drink.

You and Marine both open your mouths to stupidly ask, “How did it go?”

“Less mouths to feed.” The Smolder grumbles out with a bitter tongue, her eyes lingering on you and Marine.
“So, why tell me this?”

“Because we want your help, the smolders to help.”

Nala sets her drink down, and stares at you hard, “You want us, a people that literally die when submerged in water too long, to- Willingly get not only on a ship, but a ship headed for death waters that are home to one of the most dangerous things in the exactly one thing that we can say that we fear?”

You look down, “Well, when you pu-”

“Sure, I'll see who wants in. I'll come too, lived a long enough life anyway.”

Those words sting at you like a bitter reminder. You and Marine look at each other, and she gives you a reassuring smile. “It'll be fine Ceru.” She mouths to you.

You let Nala know that you'd like to see Akabaron before the hunt, and that you'd like your things back as well. She assures you that he'll return in time.

You look for Kurojo, failing to find him, you head to the festival, to play games with Marine. Some of the citizenry recognize you, and allow you to play the games free of charge. Likely at the behest of Hao.

Eventually the sun begins to set and you head back to the bunkhouse. Still no Kurojo.

Where did he go?

The next day, you go to the Araraki, entering the compound of skin and bones, you see that the civilians watch you warily from their masks, on edge as you enter.

You tell some that you'd like to speak to the Elders. They remind you that all but one has departed to their home in the desert.

You enter the Elder's tent and are immediately greeted by the Araraki you've hunted with.

“Hello again...” She bows her head, politely, showing you where to sit.

“You're here a lot... aren't you?”

“We apprentice to Elder. Come from Waste. Hot sand.” She makes to sit, but freezes, staring at the two of you for a moment. “Elder meditate-ing. We wait must. Sorry.” She lowers her head, a hand pushing at the hood of her robe as though a lock of hair.

“What's your name?” The Araraki keeps silent, not even looking at you.
“Hey, what's your name?” You have to get her attention, and she blinks before realizing that you are, in fact, talking to her. And she's the only other one here.

“Oh. We no give name.”

“But...” You frown, pouting a little, “We hunted twice and everything. How can we not be friends?”

“We no make friend easy. Friend make peace in heart.” She touches a spot upon her chest. It's where your heart would be... you think.
“Friend, we give life. Friend, we trust.”

“You don't trust us?”

“We... Think this one no care for us. This one no like us. No Not-Arararki do.”

How could she say that? You mull it over, granted, you don't really like all the things she said about the dome before. “...Do you have a name?”

“Yes. Our mother, father give. Special.” She lowers her head, as she recalls her parents.
You sigh at that. A father...

The Elder makes their appearance. Stepping into the room and sitting down, curling his tail to rest within the water.

It's one of the ones from the other day. The ghastly eyes, the completely hidden face, the absolute lack of any expression. “We did not expect you so soon. Are you well?”

“Very.” You and Marine bow your heads politely and the Elder returns the gesture. “Yes, we are. Thank you for asking. We were talking to her about-”

“We had heard.” The Elder looks to the child. You feel that he's amused for some reason.
“We know this stubborn apprentice. This child fears that she has offended. Yet this child will also not say that she has been offended.”

“Oh, I'm sor-”

“No apology is in order. If this child has not said that she is offended, then she needs not be apologized to.”

“But you-”
>>
“We apologize often at the comfort of others. We... know how we make them feel. Even if there is nothing we can do. It is a convenient ritual.” The Elder laughs hard in the back of his throat, the rest of his body eerie in that it barely moves. “Is there something that you would ask of me?”

If I understand correctly, this is our goal here? The reason we came?
Tell them the story on our plan to fight a large monster, make a giant boat with it, and make some way to travel off the islands. It would get us back home, and the islanders could use it to get themselves around too.

The Smolder want to leave, and the Araraki want them to leave, so it's a beneficial trade.

“Well...” You explain the situation to the Elder. How you want to build a ship with the combined effort of Araraki, Kahkori, and Smolder. A ship to return home to discover the truth of your origin, and to help the Smolder leave. The Araraki Elder doesn't say much, but simply nods and affirms that he's listening.

You aren't quite sure what it is, but you feel like this is what it'd be like to talk to a grandfather... If you had one. At the end, he asks quite simply, “And is that all?”

“Yes.” You say quickly. “It'd also help if there were Araraki that could help kill the monster, but...”

“We will consider this. We fear and loathe the Smolder for our own reasons. They drove us out of our home at the Kahkori's command. This, we know. Yet their people are savage and sick... Would you truly be willing to take them away from us? Even if their savagery may be turned upon you?”

You look down at your lip and clutch at your clothes,”I have no other choice but to trust them. Without them, we might never get home.”

The Araraki considers something for a moment, “If Serebyi were to return, she could indeed take you home...” He sighs for a moment, shaking his head, “Alas, she will not return unless there is peace. Unless the Smolder and the Kahkori are gone.”

You get a strange, foreboding feeling from that statement. “But we will speak with the other Elders. We will decide in time whether we should help. That is all we can offer... Unless this child decides on her own to assist.”

The younger Araraki looks to her Elder, then down, “We consider this...”

“I thought you said you weren't going to help us get home?” You say. With almost a tease to “the child.”

She snaps to you, staring a bit harsh before averting her eyes,”We consider...”

You visit the craftsmaster and pickup your equipment ordered while drunk.

“There was a lot of ruined material... But I did what I could.”

You are therefore presented with a bikini large enough to cover your chest and narrow enough to disappear around your rear end... Thankfully, the rest of the armor is a complete mesh to cover up most everything it misses, but it's so fur-tight that it leaves little to the imagination, the ghastly organic chainmail being nigh-see through, slipping in and out of sight depending on the angle that you're looking.
The armlets slip onto the spikes of your arms and leave your palms open while still protecting your wrists.

“What... What is this?” You ask the craftsmaster with a furious blush as you feel very much naked as you wear this “armor”

“When you came in to order this from your hunt, you had told me thus, and I quote 'Make it sexy, I'd like to make a bird turn redder.”

Your jaw drops and Marine starts to die laughing.

“And... a weapon?”

“When I asked you if you'd need a weapon, you said, and I quote again 'I don't need nuth'n but these guns' And then you proceeded to flex and spray water all over my Ferryne clerk as soon as one said 'pheesh' “

“Ugh!” Marine groans, “Why are ALL of them saying that?”

“I'm not quite sure punchyfist mcpheesh, as you called yourself the other night. I have a similar suit of armor for you.” The craftsmaster disappears into the back to retrieve Marine's set.

You look yourself over, still not quite sure what you think of it as you pick your tail up to look at the lack of mesh right around the bikini bottom. What kind of armor even is this? It'll protect you, sure, but it really doesn't look like armor at all.
>>

The Craftsmaster comes back around with what's not quite a “Similar” set of armor, but an entirely different animal from yours.
Marine's jaw drops and you can see the stars in her eyes as she's assisted in putting it on.

From the top, Marine wears a facemask that gives the impression of a strong jaw with two short blades forming a chiselled helm, blades coming off of her shoulders like little wings, a large bulk of armor settled over her chest and arms to appear more muscular and defined.
Her bottom a tauset with a noticeable amount of additional material that forces her to part her legs some, and leggings of black for that give her an intimidating appearance.

“AWESOME!” Marine throws out an armpump as she looks into the mirror.

The craftsmaster clears his throat. “Certainly.” He sounds irritated, “You asked for something more manly, but also sexy, befitting of Fistypheesh. Of course I did above and beyond... White, are you also pleased with your armor?”

He still sounds mildly annoyed, “Y-yes...”

Uh, Prof. Not that I wouldn't have selected this anyway, but it doesn't "automatically" upgrade Aura Combat. Increasing both the Aura Stat and Aura Combat will STILL cost 6 SP in total. Anyway,

> Electrical conditioning: It'll hurt, but this will at least allow you to maintain consciousness should you suffer a severe shock. It's not guaranteed to reduce damage or paralysis incurred. 6SP

15 SP in total.

As for what to increase, here's tentatively what we want

would we earn SP from doing the local hunt?
>>
We need to get at least aqua jet, the one that helps us move around.

Our standards of lockon, icy wind, and frost breath would be nice too.
>>
>>33592356
That's 33 SP, anon.
>>
>>33592331
Well that seems like a question that could be asked to some engineers on a certain island. I want to take it because it's another hunt which means that we might get something interesting made depending on what we hunt.

You'd be able to aim and shoot a harpoon or similar weaponry. Ensure that you hit the target between remoraid targetting and practiced handling.

Can't we just use Lock-On so we don't have to train in harpoon aiming?

The hunt is SPECIFICALLY to get that harpoon launcher made.

Pfft. One day, someone will write this. And people will point to this as proof that it's canon.

>You'd be able to aim and shoot a harpoon or similar weaponry. Ensure that you hit the target between remoraid targetting and practiced handling.
Oh, I'm specifically asking about the harpoon launcher we'd get.

If it doesn't latch itself on the ground, that would mean Ceru would have to pull and reel it in herself?

It's the difference between doing something with your hands and using equipment.

I disagree simply because it's not very compatible with other abilities later on. If we get besieged there might be some harpoon turrets, but otherwise these SP are stuck to ship combat.

Unless we stop using Dome stuff entirely...

and harpoon launchers are big. You don't normally have them on land, but since this is a monhun setting, you MIGHT have them on fortress walls or killzones for legendaries. Otherwise, the only place where they would be is on ships.

Portable harpoon guns have a lot less power, take more time to reload, AND are still heavy and cumbersome due to needing to carry ammo.

Unless Prof decides to waive these things...

Lonely Trouble Incubus works too, though. Incubus goes without saying, and Lonely Trouble referring to his race's predicament and how he's actually pretty serious in trying to find a way to deal with it.

While I understand Marine's position, I'm still a bit annoyed that she's missed out on all the warning signs.

Like the fragile peace that's built on a lie, and is time-sensitive until the Smolder figure out you can make metal ships, and how the Araraki seem to be planning on killing EVERYONE so their god comes back.

Sure the drinking and partying is okay, but... seriously, this is a bad scene to stick around in.

Who is the most genre-savvy character in the story? Janine? Giovanni? Hao? Red?

>Submarine
>Smolders

If they could, they'd be making an airship right now. They DO NOT like water.

So what are our options for making sure we don't get our memories wiped?

We could try and request an audience with Agatha, since she is the most likely to know the score. However, she might not really care whether or not we get our memories erased.

We might need to go in loud, like make first contact visible enough that it can't be covered up.

Also, I wonder if Bryan is still alive?
>>
>>33594185
Probably. Cadets from normal gyms don't go on missions until they become fully licensed rangers.
>>
>>33594185
Our best bet is a covert meeting with one of the dome patrols. Ideally a rocket one, ideally ideally with dark type among them.
>>
>>33594226
Good, he might be useful if we can trust him.

Also, are we assuming that the gym leaders know they're clones?
>>
>>33594185
>We might need to go in loud, like make first contact visible enough that it can't be covered up.
Really bad idea. That's not the way to go about it at all.

The Indigo Reports are covered up for the benefit of the people.

Giovanni is our only sure bet for action to be taken; going to someone else before him is not going to reflect well on us. Besides. Whatever your misgivings about him, he hasn't actually employed esper abilities to brainwash people to the same extent as Sabrina or to read people's minds. We already know he's receptive to interacting with the outer-Dome races. Just report to him normally. He won't ask to know what we know about the past as long as we don't give him any reason.

Like have marine parade Kurojo up and down the streets if that wipe us, or just writing down a note with everything they would have wiped and keeping it under our pillow.

Can probably come up with a better idea later when we're actually crossing this bridge.
>>
>>33594656
Our index can send emails can't it?

Maybe we should send a copy to Misty, then meet with Bryan and have him look through our memories, then have him erase that we met with him, so we have a backup?

Also, I'm not sure if having a Tuskless ambassador come along would be a good or bad idea. That much handsome could be a powerful asset.
>>
>>33594656
Yeah we should really focus on getting home before deciding on what to do once we're there. Though right now I'm kind of worried about how well our current plan will work for that.
