The Foliate Alliance is a dominion that consists entirely and exclusively of plant-based lifeforms. Originating in an isolated pocket of space, the Alliance had come to colonize an entire galaxy before making first contact with the Multigalactic Sprawl and with it, their first contact with sapient meat-based life near the beginning of the Third Era. Disturbed and frightened by what they had discovered, the Foliate Alliance pulled back all expeditionary forces and began a cautious and paranoid dialogue with various members of the Multigalactic Sprawl. Since their discovery, one of the Foliate species of the Sprawl has joined them while the other and the only known fungoid species remain neutral, bringing the total species that are members of the Foliate Alliance to six.

And right now, you’re currently surrounded by Foliate Wargroves as far as the eye can see, each and every one of them no doubt pissed at you for stealing one of their own back when you were just getting started as a pirate captain. More importantly, they stole her back. They somehow yanked Cernu right out of her control root and took her to Boros knows where.

And you will burn down every last one of these damned leafy bastards if it means getting your girl back.

In fact, maybe it’s time to tell them just that.

>Send out an open broadcast telling them to give you back Cernu things get ugly.
>Send out an open broadcast directed at Cernu. She’s good with plants so maybe she can tap into their comms and give you an idea of her whereabouts
>Try your hardest to remain calm and attempt diplomacy. No matter how murderous you’re feeling, you’re still outmanned and outgunned.

Right now, the rest of them don’t matter. Out in that vast spaceworthy forest, there’s only one plant that you give anything more than half a damn about and that’s your Cernucorra. You’ve got nothing to say to the rest of them, they’re just in your way.

And things in your way have a bad tendency of turning up dead.

“Helmsman Rosco, open broadcast. I want anyone with ears hearing this.”

“You sure that’s a good idea, cap? Them trees seem pretty happy lettin’ us be, no need to get ourselves swakked before we figure out what to do.”

“I believe I ordered you to give me an open broadcast, Helmsman. You will do as ordered by your captain or I will throw you out the airlock and do it myself.” You voice is quiet yet firm as you threaten your crewmate. This is the calmest any of them have ever seen you, causing a dread silence to hang over your bridge.

“…aye, cap’n.” Rosco reluctantly compliesm more scared of you at the moment than he is of the armada outside.

With a flick of a button, you’re on the air, broadcasting your face and voice across all possible channels. You take a moment to gather your wits and when you start talking, it’s with the same solemn determination as you spoke to Rosco.

“Cernu, I know you're out there somewhere. We wouldn’t be drifting here if they didn’t nab you, and you know I won’t leave until I get you back. So just give me a sign. I know you can talk to plants or something. Make things grow where they shouldn’t be able to. You used to do it all the time when we were younger. So whatever ship you’re on out there, just bully it into revealing itself and there is no armada big enough to keep from tearing my way through to you.”

One second passes. Two seconds. Three seconds. Each one an eternity all its own, but still you wait. And wait. And wait.

“Cap! We’re picking something up over-“

You didn’t get to hear the rest of what Rosco was telling you, the familiar sensations of getting pulled through the Dub yet again overtaking you, this time back to normal. You weren’t quite sure where you found yourself when you sidled back into reality, but the lush green scenery didn’t interest you in the slightest. Not when some bastard dryad with a head full of ferns and antler like branches protruding from his brow was holding an outstretched hand to your Cernu, cowering and covering her nude form as best as she could.

Your species is known for violence and hatred, but you’ve never been one for either if you could help it. But sometimes, sometimes you feel it, that ancestral blood lust. You feel it bad. That need to not just kill, but to destroy utterly. To annihilate any trace of the offending person ever existing.

And right now, that old blood of yours is screaming at you to do just that to this bastard in front of you.

>Shoot his outstretched hand. Just send a message for now.
>Shoot him through the heart. Show him how easy it is for you to kill him and any like him.
>Call him out. You want to look him in the eyes before you tear him apart with your bare hands.

You think about shooting him. You think about it hard. How you would like nothing more than to see his face twisted in pain as a smoking crater replaces his chest. But that would be too quick. He deserves so much more for trying to take Cernu away from you, for hurting her and making her cower like this. Your hand inches away from your pistol holster and balls into a fist instead. There’s quite a lot of ground between you and him, but what most people don’t realize is that Nagas are damned fast when they want to be.

And right now, there’s nowhere else in the whole damn universe and beyond that you want to be more than in between those two. You’ve reached full sprint (slither? sprither?) in mere seconds, giving you just enough time to call him out before you reach them.

“Oiy, Franz Fern-dinand, get the fuck away from my woman!”

Some say getting shoulder-barged by a Naga at full speed is like getting hit by a train. Others liken it to getting rammed by a cruise missile made out of scales and hate. Most don’t have any opinion on the matter on account of being dead. Even the survivors are usually reduced to a wheelchair or worse, even in the age of cybernetics, biografts, and other miracle medicines.

That’s how you know old Fernhead felt it. The surprise in his eyes and the sound of cracking into splinters was just icing on the cake.

“I stole her fair and square, asshole.” You shout to the rough direction in the foliage that you launched him before checking on Cernu.

Your poor navigator clutches tightly to you the moment she notices you, but you can’t get much out her save repeated sobs of “I’m sorry” and “All my fault”.

You hold her back, stroking her vines with one hand as you coil yourself around her. You have no idea what was going on, but you get the feeling it was a private affair, and that you have enough time to calm her down. She buries her face into your neck and sobs harder.

“Shh, hey, it’s okay. I’m here and I ain’t goin’ nowhere.”

You tilt her chin until she is looking you in the eye, her own puffy and green from crying. You use your thumb to gently wipe away her tears while your other hand still strokes her head.

“Just like I promised, right?”

This earns you a pained chuckle and a small smile as she leans against your neck again, this time much calmer.

“I thought I’d never see you again.”

“I told ya back when you joined my crew. I look after my own.”

“He said they were to destroy your ship, once they managed a way to do so without harming Drasilios.”

“I’ve managed worse, you should know that.”

“You are impossible to fear for.”

“Well yeah. I’m the captain.”

She laughs again, nestling herself against your neck even deeper.

“Please don’t let them take me.”

You slowly uncoil from around her, shifting her into a princess carry with as little disturbance as you can muster and begin in the opposite direction of where you flung the other dryad.

“Then show me how to get off this damned overgrown weed.”

“I…do not know. They tore me out of The Dub itself during the jump. I was hoping you could show me how you got here.”

The foliage around you opens up into a clearing. Both above and below, you can see massive walkways covered in greenery and with all sorts of foliate peoples walking amongst them. Strange little plant creatures with vinelike appendages and using mechanical flowerpots to move around, giant walking treelike creatures, even a few more humanoid plantlike foliates similar in appearance to Cernu. At the center of the clearing is a massive tree that extends above and below you as far as you can see.

“I just sorta…showed up. Thought you had something to do that.”

“All I did was desperately wish you were there.”

A crackling, broken laugh erupts from behind you, coming from the leafy bastard from earlier. One of his antlers is snapped, his head is dangling limply on his shoulder, and he is dragged a cracked leg behind him. Damn, you forgot how tough dryads were.

“You know not what you even did, sapling? To the extent which you and your navnolia are connected? It will not work again, though, for we are now jamming the Dub, disbarring any method it may send or take more meat along. And you, blighted meat, how dare you corrupt this errant growth and despoil the splendor she may have become? Does your filth know no decency?”

“Don’t talk to me about decency, frondface, I ain’t the one that locked her in a box for only Ouroboros knows how long and left her to die.”

“It lectures the elder as if it knows the whims of the Worlds’ Tree.” He looks from you to Cernu, holding his only good hand out once more. “Come back to us, young runner, and I shall teach you of all the potential you cast aside in ignorance.”

Cernu clutches you tightly at that, signaling to you that it’s time to go.

>Threaten that big tree in the middle. You know a navnolia when you see one and you know what it would mean to lose one.

You maneuver Cernu over to a single arm and brandish your pistol with the other.

“Age is just a rot in the brain. Now take down your little jammers and I won’t have to turn you into kindling. This time.”

“You really think that changes anything?”

“You’re tough, but you ain’t immortal. I can take you down with enough shots.”

“And that is where you are wrong, pathetic, fragile meat. Within this domain, I will merely be regrown should you strike me down. Such is the power of Old Growth. Such is the power YOU abandon, sapling. You truly know nothing about us.”

You point your pistol behind you.

“I know what a navnolia is, and how you’ll be just as stuck as I am without it. Now let us go before I decide to take up lumberjackin’ on both your tree and everyone around it.”

You finally wiped that damn smirk off his face and replaced it with a frown with that last one.

“As if you could commit such a feat.”

“Wanna find out?”

“It would be amusing to observe your failure.”

“And what if I don’t fail? Even if I do, I promise you it’s gonna hurt. I know you foliates can take a lotta hurt, Cernu has told me as much a dozen times over, but that’s never stopped me from takin’ a hit for her. Can you really live with yourself knowing some ‘blighted meat’ has more love for a foliate than you do?”

His frown deepens even further.

“And what will you even do once you return to your vessel? We will just take what is rightfully ours from the Dub once more if you try to leave.”

“That’s my concern, not yours.”

A low grumble of disapproval rumbles from him, sounding like wood groaning. “Very well, thief. You shall have your spoils for but a few moments more. It makes no difference.”

He isn’t even done snapping his fingers before you feel yourself getting yanked back through that green un-space and landing breathlessly back in the Green Room aboard your vessel. Before you have time to recover, Cernu leaps out of your arm and rushes towards Drasilios, resting both her hands and her forehead against the tree.

“Prepare to jump.” She declares

“I love the enthusiasm, but you heard what that guy said.” You protest

“It will work, just hold on.”

You try to get another word in but the room around you begins to rumble, causing you to stumble and hold fast to a nearby tree. Toshka’s voice over the intercom cuts through the din.

“Everything’s getting jazzed up here, boss! Mind tellin’ us what the hell you’re doin’ in there?!”

“Hold on tight and hope for the best, Toshka! Wish I knew more myself!”

With a roar and a violent quake, you once again feel yourself getting squeezed through surreality, this time feeling the Dub much longer and heavier than normal. Just when you think you’re going to lose it and be stuck this way forever, everything comes to. Cernu is laying on the ground panting (and thankfully still here), you feel like your whole existence just got turned inside out, and you’re not sure if you’re even-

“All’s clear, cap. No clue what just happened, but them foliates ain’t around to swak us for it.”

Well that clears that up. Too bad you have no idea what ‘that’ even was.

“What even was that?” You say once the words make it from of your sluggish mind to your cotton-feeling mouth. Cernu just responds with loud, unrestrained laughter. She manages a few words between giggling fits.

“They didn’t even know! They couldn’t even know! It was…perfect! You were perfect. Both of you.”

You scoop her up into your arms again.

“You ain’t making much sense right now, honeysuckle, so why don’t we get you dressed and then get you something to eat?”

Her laughing settles down and she curls into your embrace. Her voice is muffled buy your chest, but you still hear her say “I would like that. Very much so.”

---

After confirming that nothing was lurking in the empty patch of space you ended up at, you call everyone into the mess hall for the obligatory “We somehow cheated death yet again” celebration feast. As you regale them with your heroics out in the Foliate Alliance ship, Cernu begins to slowly recover herself. Or maybe she recovered faster than you realize and is just hamming up her disorientation in order to get you to feed her while she leans against you and enjoys the feeling of your tail coiled around her. Either way you’re more than happy to oblige after that little ordeal.

“So why’d they up ‘n’ let us tumble on, anyways?” Koma asks between mouthfuls of what looks to be pulled pork and gravel slathered in barbecue sauce. “Thought you said they were tryin’ ta take ya back.”

“They were.” Cernu responds, pausing and holding her mouth open expectantly for the morsel on your fork before continuing. “It was Drasilios who figured out what went wrong.”

“Y’mean that tree what props ya up nekkid in th’ bridge durin’ jumpsinraids?” Padstow is in extra drunken form today. Not that you blame him after the whole Scarlet Widowmaker incident.

Cernu giggles at the crude description. “The very same. He figured out that the Foliate Alliance had somehow tracked us down and bugged us during our run-in with Kytan Graveside of the Gatoran Empire, which is why it took me so long to synchronize with him that time. After that, they knew exactly where we were every time we jumped, and it was merely a matter of deciding when was the opportune time to drag us into Alliance space and tear me away from Drasilios.”

“That’s a lot of past tenses there, miss. I hope that means our foliate troubles are in the past, yes? As fascinating as your kind are, I would much rather inspect them in a more…controlled environment.” You really don’t know how the way Lorelei eats with her head on the table like that, and you really don’t like to think about it if you can help it.

Cernu waits for you to feed her another morsel before nodding. “That is once again thanks to Drasilios. The Sol Regret has had track marks that have tried to hide their jump signature before, so Drasilios and I merely applied those principles to stepping through the Dub. Since the Alliance has never had someone who did not want to be found using the Dub, it was simple work, if not taxing.”

“Got that right. Thought whole place was coming down around us. Pots and pans were rattling everywhere.” Having served everyone else, Lyka finally joined the rest of the crew in listening to your dryad explain how she saved the day.

“We hope to…refine the process, but it will always be more strenuous than an unhidden jump. They may still be able to find us eventually, but they will no longer be able to drag us into Alliance territory or remove me from this ship. If they do deem me worthy of chase, they will have to enter into meatspace and catch us on our terms instead of theirs.”

Finally full, she leans against you more heavily closes her eyes. With question time over, you shoo everyone off and pick up your tired navigator. But what to do now?

Turns out there's a bit of rest for the wicked. Give us a few hours after those last two heists we went on. Three? I dunno.

I don't see why we can't bring Mr. Snips down to the green room though. Only room he won't eat.
>>
>>33609455
>>>Take her down to the Green Room and enjoy a nice sunbath and fruity alcoholic drink.
Daito now, work later.
>>
Alright. Give me 10 minutes to dice some onions and I'll get started.

Waiting warmly!
What are you cooking?

Writing now.

Gumbo.

>>33609856
Huh, I've never tried that.

You leave your crew to their festivities and princess carry Cernu again back down to the Green Room for a little relaxation between just the two of you. And judging by the coy little smirk she is totally milking your affections for all their worth, the little snake. You certainly trained her well over the years. Mr. Snips decides to join you in the elevator, materializing through the intercom system and taking his rightful perch upon your shoulder. Unable to stroke his carapace with your currently occupied hands, you settle for letting him rub against your cheek as you await your destination.

The Green Room is quiet than you’ve ever witnessed. The animals (mobile plants?) are still, the usual breeze hangs dead in the air, and even the sunlight providing Sungus is currently snuffed out and replaced by hundreds of pinpricks across the ceiling emulating a star filled sky. She even included fields of luminescent reds, greens, and blues to simulate a nebula. Thankfully, the air is still warm enough to justify disrobing yourself and Cernu before making your to the lake and wading out on your back, tethering yourself to the shore by the knobbly root knee of a nearby tree and Cernu resting contentedly on your stomach as you stare idly at the “night” sky. She did tell you this place reacted to her and the tree’s emotional state, but you never really thought about how much control over the Green Room those two had.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Cernu asks after several minutes of quiet between the two of you, rolling over and wrapping her arms around your neck while Snips busies himself with riding the soft current the nearby waterfall makes. “I made it just for you.”

“Oh?” Your response is lazy as you bring one hand up to stroke her head. “It’s nice.”

One of her hands slides down your neck and lazily traces your collarbone, sending shivers down your spine as she just -barely- ignores the trail of scales just above her finger. “You loved to watch the stars back on Rotuga. Just like this, out in the lagoons and wearing nothing at all. You used to point up in the sky at some distant star and tell me all about it, the planets surrounding it, and what we would take from it once we got a ship.”

“Nostalgic, are we?”

You try and fail to suppress a gasp as she plants kisses along your Scale Trail, following it where it grazes just across the outside of your breast before moving to the other side to give it the same attention. “He said such horrible things about you. About how wicked you are and what you would do to me once you got bored. I just wanted to remind myself of everything you are to me instead of everything they say you are.”

Shit guys, I actually have to go for now, but I'll be back in about 2 or so hours. I'll check on you guys then if you want to finish things up/if the the thread is still up.

If not, I'll just start the next thread here.
>>
>>33610611
>Let her takes things at her own pace
Just hold her close and let her vent for now, physical comfort should be more than enough.
>>
>>33610611
>Let her takes things at her own pace
>>
>>33610611
>>Go the offensive and reassure her yourself.
I am sure the Captain can make good on some of the things she imagined she would do to her.
>>
>>33610611
>Go the offensive and reassure her yourself.
Hmm, well rather, ask if you've given her reason to worry so. Better to clarify such things before they can become problems.

>>33610633
Hell even if it got no more posts I still bet the thread would be up in 2 hours. Shouldn't be a problem at all.
>>
>>33610611
>Let her takes things at her own pace
No need to rock the boat when we are literally the boat.
>writein
How horrible were the things?
>>
>>33610673
I misread a bit, lemme switch to
>Go the offensive and reassure her yourself.
Since that's basically my writein.
>>
>>33610611
>Let her takes things at her own pace
Steady as she goes. When we're sure she doesn't want to say more, we can pipe up with our own thoughts.
>>
I wonder how often crew folk come down to just sort of watch this stuff from the bushes.
>>
>>33610768
They don't need to do that, there are cameras everywhere.
>>
>>33610768
Since the bushes are connected to her, no one does it twice, thats for sure.
>>
>>33610768
I'm sure Cernu and the tree can keep people out for properly intimate moments like these. Regular stuff though? I bet they have someone assigned to monitor the place just so they know when to arrive.
>>
>>33610611
Aww, this is pretty cute. Would Hnnngh again.
>Just tell her you love her already
>>
>>33610768
They mostly keep out since the idea of a forest on a spaceship bothers most star sailors and offends the neon sensibilities of the siblings Philips. Lyka us the only one who frequents the Green Room more than occasionally, because she gives no fucks and loves to hunt. On the off chance someone IS there, >>33610807 is basically right. Drasilios can go all Lost Woods on them to where they always end up back at the elevator. As of right now, giant impassable roots have grown over the elevator entrance and the organic cameras that monitor the room have disconnected themselves from the system.

(Cap'n here, on my phone so I can Q&A in the meantime)
>>
>>33611032
Informative, thanks Cap.
>>
>>33610611
>Go the offensive and reassure her yourself.
Gotta remind her of all the wonderful things her captain can do to her too.
>>
>>33611691
Hell I figure if we're passive she'll make Valdessa remind her anyway.

You lie back for now, letting her explore your body at her own pace.

“And what did they say I was?” You bite your lip as her hands wander, fingers tracing your abs and gripping at your waist.

“They called you a liar.” Her hands continue their dance across your skin, playing at all of you most sensitive places but never pushing too hard. “A deceiver. A thief and a murderer. They called you callous and hateful and said you would cast me aside the moment I became useless to you. That you will never see me as a person simply because we are founded from different materials.”

“And here you made it sound like they lied about me.” Cernu shuts down your smirk and forces it into a moan as she grips your breasts roughly and shoots you a tearful glare from between them.

“Every word of it was false and foul! Do not joke about their treachery. I know what you really are. How you offer others unharmed escape before you alleviate them of their riches. How you lead from the front instead of hiding behind those you inspire.” She relaxes again, burying her head between those two spheres she just manhandled. “How you saved me when no one else would.”

When you try to respond she just hugs you tighter, hot tears staining your naked chest. “I almost agreed to it. When they told me they could give me belonging. That they could help me make sense of myself and teach me things about myself the Root Memories never could. For the briefest of seconds, I considered abandoning all of this for them. I almost abandoned you, even after everything you did for me…”

She was spent now, you could tell. Not physically, but emotionally. You know that last one must have hurt her far more than it hurt you to hear. You had come to terms with being unwanted by your own kind for almost as long as you’ve been around, but here Cernu finally gets a glimpse into her own origins and all she finds is a bunch of overly possessive racists. You slide your own hands gently behind her ears and tilt her head up towards your own. She slides forward with your soft but insistent grip until your forehead touches against hers. That’s when you start applying pressure with your index and middle finger.

You’re not entirely sure how dryad seasons work. Sometimes her vines bear fruit, sometime they don’t. Sometimes that area just behind and above her ears blooms into two beautiful flowers, sometimes it doesn’t. What you do know, however, is that these changes leaves it and the surrounding area even more sensitive than your scale trail. All you have to do is massage that sweet spot while you stroke her ears and she goes limp in your arms. You force her to swallow her moan along with that long, forked tongue of yours when she tries to vocalize her pleasure and her that way for a solid minute or two.

You lost count after her tongue returned your affections.

When the kiss finally breaks and you unravel your tongue from her mouth (...and her throat), a line of her sugary sweet saliva still connects you two. Her stunned, half-lidded expression brings a smile to your face.

“Then I guess I’ll have to show you why you made the right choice.”

Her pleasure-filled gawp slides into a hungry smirk as she positions herself above you.

“I made something else just for you, too.”

You manage to somehow look past the beauty in front of you just in time to see Cernu grab a mason jar from a passing lily pad. You almost lose your grip on the tree root anchoring you in place as your tail tries to thrash in excitement

“Is that…”

“Moonshine. Flavored with a…personal touch.”

You’re not sure if this can actually be called night or not, but it’s gonna be a good night all the same.

Sorry for the delay on that last bit everyone. I kept getting shanghaied into various random familial obligations.

That's also probably the last I'll get to run for at least a week, so at least it's a pleasant stopping point.

Thanks for stopping by, everyone!

Ooo kinky, dryad nectar booze.
>>
>>33614692
Thanks a ton for running! That was a sweet ending, in both meanings of the word.

Any idea of when you can run next?
>>
>>33614692
Cernu is even lewder than I had expected!

Hmm, guess finding a way for her to learn about herself without throwing her lot in with tree-racists can be bumped up as a quest.
>>
>>33614730
Thanks for running. Hope to see you back soon.
>>
>>33614744
No clue, sadly. If I'm very lucky, this Sunday.

Otherwise, probably not until next Sunday unless I run a later thread at my more typical hours.
>>
>>33614828
Alright, I'll look forward to it either way!
>>
>>33614872
Thanks! Just keep an eye on the twitter and I will do my best to keep you informed.

Archive up, by the way.

Are there any Foliate factions that aren't massive assholes around?

>>33615005
There's some foliates not affiliated with the Alliance, but Hyperdryads are an Alliance exclusive as far as anyone knows

I think we can all agree every butt brings it's own unique contribution to the crew as well as each other.

>>33615662
Wisdom.

Is it just my imagination or is most of the crew also in love with our dear Captain?
>>
>>33615698
I think it's mostly your imagination, I haven't noticed anything at least.
>>
>>33615709
They all have their own reasons for following her, but I don't think anyone joined the crew with romantic intent. Even Cernu's adoration was chaste and innocent once upon a time.
>>
>>33615798
>Even Cernu's adoration was chaste and innocent once upon a time.
Haha, we sure showed her

I don't believe you.
>>
>>33615819
She started it, actually
>>33615841
Don't worry, I'veto got a writeup in the works detailing it all.
