YOU ARE LOLI,

You and Ice are staring dumbfounded down at Dave, who is stood in the open on the valley floor waving like an idiot at you. A valley floor that until a few moments ago was filled with very angry and very shooty Monolith fighters.

"Wait here," you tell Eliza and Viktor, motioning Ice to come with you. You rush down the slope quickly to meet up with the man wandering lazily back towards you.
You open your mouth to ask a question, but Ice beats you to it.

"Dave what the HELL was that?"

He shrugs. "Ie asked them to leave."

Ice blinks. Then blinks again. "No. Nope, no way. You don't just ask Monolith to LEAVE. What did you do?"

Dave cranes his neck, sighing in exasperation. "Ie simply, explained the obvious. They, were hkere to ambush us. They failed, they should leave. And so, they did."

Ice squints at the man. "You're... being serious." He moves his mouth, trying to form more words, but none seem to come forth. Dave turns his attention to you.

"Geez you could have told us what you were going to do before diving in, also, for doing something crazy like that, you owe me a chocolate bar, and none of that crap Ukranian stuff."

right, I'm voting we institute a Crazy Dave policy, every time he does something stupidly crazy, he gives us a bar of chocolate

we should also go check on Loki and the freedom guys, see how they are doing and maybe get Eliza topped off
>>

"Geez, Dave! If you're doing something crazy at least tell us first! From now on, if you ever do something like that without telling us, you owe me a bar of chocol- wait." The more important thought crosses your mind. "Why would they listen to YOU? They don't listen to anyone, right?" You look to Ice for confirmation, which he gives with a nod.

Dave frowns. "Why whould they not? We hkave, an understanding. Our aims are... aligned, as it were."

Ice looks as if he's debating between asking Dave to explain further and simply strangling the man. "What aims?"
Dave's eyebrows flicker, his eyes alight with amusement as he ignores your question.

Ice seems to regain control of himself, fingers unflexing from their ready-to-throttle position. He gestures at the forest with a thumb. "What's to stop 'em coming back?"

"Nothing, at all," Dave says. "Though, it whould be illogical to do so."

A few heartbeats pass, then you realize something obvious. "Wait! They're running away with that other gun! They'll just set up another ambush for us later!"

Dave makes a face, apparently considering the point to be of little importance.

"Monolith is bad! If you have the same goal then you're bad too. Why shouldn't we kill you, then? "
>>
>>33651800
Those probably aren't their only railguns anyway. Pursuit would just be jumping into the trap.
>>

Don't try to chase please.

Plus we need to help Miller.
>>
>>33652002
their railgun wasn't the threat to Eliza, their towed AT guns were of which they had 2 of, setup in perfect ambush positions and we only destroyed one

the railgun can't get through Eliza's armor, and I doubt it can do more than set off a ERA block or two
>>
>>33651736
Idly, your hand rests on the butt of your pistol. "But Monolith is bad. If you've got the same aim, that makes you bad too."

Dave regards you with a smile, "Childe, what makes you say Monolith are bad? They hkave done, nothing, but try to keep you from a fate, most- dire." He rolls his tongue even more than usual on the final R.

Ice seems to catch your mood and begins reach for his own gun. You respond, "they keep trying to kill us! And they just set up an ambush for us! They're trying to kill Eliza, Dave!"

He shakes his head, "they are, trying to, -halt- her." He's stopped looking at you now, too busy fiddling with something in his hands. You can't see what it is though- or if he's holding anything at all. "It does little, to affect our plans."

The three of you stand like this for another long few moments, before you realize that Dave seems to be speaking as honestly as ever to you. He sees neither himself nor Monolith to be bad. Gently, you let go of your pistol, instead taking out your PDA and phoning Loki again. The call doesn't connect once more. You look to Ice. "Tell Kris we're going to the camp. They should stay up there and keep an eye out."

He nods, quickly relaying your message through the radio as you begin the trek along the bottom of the valley towards the still-burning outpost.

When you reach the bunkers, you find them both empty of defenders, though both machine gun nests are close to drowning in their own spent casings. The screams of hurting men echo through the camp, though they're fewer and quieter than they were when you first found them under attack. Men are rushing about, either trying to help their dying friends or else fight the smaller fires with the limited water they have. No-one is evening bothering with the blazing inferno that used to be the main buildings.

You can't see Loki about anywhere.

[ ]Try to find Loki.
[ ]Try to help fight the fires.
[ ]Try to help the wounded.
>>
>>33651800
Strictly speaking, if you can make one in adult size you can probably make a child sized one too. It'd have less power due to smaller size but also need less due to smaller size right? So it adds up and you just need to find the man willing to make high tech combat armor for children.
>>
>>33652689

>>
>>33652733
>It'd have less power due to smaller size but also need less due to smaller size right?
what...

size has nothing to do with the mechanics at play in an exosuit, its dependent on each set of servos/motors in each limb, making a Loli size one would be easier than usual just because it requires less materials, but will be harder to come by because it would need to be custom made

>>33652689
You shout to Ice, already making your own way through the base looking for Loki. "Get the others down here, quick! We need to help out! Dave, be useful for once and help put the fire out!"

Once again Ice quickly relays your request to Kris, and seconds later you can hear Eliza's engine roar to life as she begins to make her way down the valley slope towards you.
Leaving them to care for the wounded, you seek desperately for the man who called you here. After scouring most of the area, you find Loki propped up by some sandbags, safely away from the burning ruin of his base, shouting orders at the survivors. He registers your presence approaching and waves halfheartedly to you. A bandage is wrapped tightly around his head and another across his gut, but he doesn't seem bothered by them.

"Good to see you here. Saved our asses, I'll tell ya. Unfortunately," his smile lessens, "most of our supplies are in there." He waves an arm towards some of the burning buildings near the back of the base. As if on cue, an explosion rips through the structure, gutting it entirely. Luckily no-one seemed to be anywhere near it.

"Monolith have been hitting all our supply bases along this line. This is the last one left. We... failed to uphold our part of the bargain, I guess. Whatever's left in the last hangar, feel free to take it and leave." He nods you towards the big structure near where you came in. The one that's still lightly burning, with men running to and fro trying to move thing out of the building or throw sand on the flames.
Dave stands several yards away, cackling at the flames.
You groan.
>>
>>33653540
You can make out Ice from the crowd by his distinctive lack of yellow in his kit. He's dragging the wounded into cover near the front fortifications, away from the fires. Behind him, Eliza finally rolls up into the base, Kris, Vasa and Viktor quickly kicking off the tank and rushing to help.

I thought that was amazing. But we should know Dave better, by now. He just talked reasonably with the Monolith and we weren't happy about that. He watched the fire like we asked and we weren't happy about that. I think the problem is that your line of thinking is wrong, so it's not that you won't respect him, it's that you don't know how.

>>33654462
Dave is a very hands-off, casual type of guy. I think that may have been asking a lot. You can feel unhappy about it, but if you're really dissatisfied, I don't think you've got a good look at him yet.
>>

>I don't think you've got a good look at him yet.
The only looks at him I want are when he is carrying his own weight and helping out, or we are looting his useless corpse.

But who is going to make sense or relate to Loli if we get rid of Dave?
>>
>>33653563
You shout to them before they've even had a chance to properly set down, "Kris! Take over from Ice, Ice help with the fire! Vasa, you too."

"Sure thing, Loli!" "Got it." "Mmm." They seamlessly switch roles while you continue shouting over the roar of the steadily building flame.

"Viktor, all our stuff is in there! Can you try and get some out?" He looks from you to the fire, looks to you again and groans visibly. Then steels himself and rushes inside.

With that set, you turn your attention to the inferno, and the bucket of sand a Freedom soldier just handed you.

Dave wanted to be in the group, but he's not acting it. He helps out only when it pleases him, the rest of the time he just stands by and watches the suffering. He clearly knows something, but instead only speaks in cryptic riddles that don't help anyone while laughing to himself. It's as if he just doesn't realize that everything he does just makes us trust him less. For all we know he's just trying to scare us with stories of monsters under our bed. And we're too old for monsters under the bed.

Personally, I'm of a mind to just tell him to come clean and actually say something coherent, or he can walk.

>>33654652
You watch for a long few seconds, watching how the others are trying to use their dirt and sand... they're tipping it onto the top of the fires, trying to cover the base of the flames. Oh! You get it! If you cover what's on fire, it doesn't get any air and doesn't burn, right?

With that, you rush into the blaze. Thanks to your small size, you realize quickly that you can get much closer and into the spaces better than the men around you. The heat this close stings your face, your arms, your entire body even through your clothes. With effort though, you shut out the pain and step in closer to the first stack of burning supplies. Apparently it's a huge cask of rice. With a single bucket, you neatly cover every part of the burning item and the flame goes out in moments. Yippee!

Looking over your shoulder, hoping for some acknowledgement, you're instead handed another bucket of sand by a man who's apparently noticed that you're better at this than he is...

Within a couple of minutes, you've managed to douse the entire front end of the hangar. The only flames now are well entrenched in the back of the stores, burning away happily. Viktor finishes dragging out yet another crate of something he thought was worth keeping, his face dripping in sweat, face red and raw. He collapses onto the crate, coughing fit overcoming him.
You're about to check on him when the fire finally reaches what's left of the ammo supplies. The back of the hangar is suddenly filled with explosions as all the shells start cooking off.

"EVERYBODY DOWN!" Ice's voice cuts through the noise. Everyone complies, diving to the ground as bullets and shrapnel start flying overhead.

Dave stays in the exact same spot, laughing maniacally at the destruction before him.

Best roll from each of 4 sets of 3 dice? Yeah, I'd advise you to blame alcohol. Perhaps you were looking to grab the best set of 4 dice instead?

>>33655233
The explosions die off in just a few short bursts. When you lift your head again, the fire seems to have put itself out. Funnily, there seems to be almost no damage from the explosions apart from some holes in the hangar walls.
Everyone starts picking themselves up around you, checking each other and making sure no-one's hurt. A few people got a few scrapes and bruises, one guy got shot in the butt, but everyone seems to be okay.

Apart from the people still dying. But Kris seems to be hard at work on them, and none of them are screaming in pain any more.

Well, you've now stopped the attack as asked, and helped them deal with the damage. The survivors seem more than capable of looking after themselves from here...

The six of you mount up onto Eliza for the short ride back into the open ground. Once there, she brakes to a stop to let you dismount and begin looting. Apart from Dave. He stays resting atop Eliza, watching you all work.

Kris and Viktor instantly make a bee-line for the wreck of the one gun you managed to knock out. Vasa sets about looting the bodies near the tank in a relaxed manner, seemingly not pushing herself too hard. Ice sticks pretty close by you as you fan out a little way into the woods, trying to see if any of the covered fighters got hit.

"There's one," Ice mutters quietly to you. You see where he means. In a tiny clearing, not more than a few paces across, a body lies prone in the open. You approach it carefully, keeping alert for anything else in the area. You stop right at the edge of the clearing, as does Ice. There's actually a few of them here. You can see at least four fallen.

A muffled breathing catches your attention. Sitting against a tree a few feet from you, one of the 'dead' fighters is actually still alive, if barely! He's struggling to breath through his mask. The bullet hole in his chest probably isn't helping him. Without help, he'll definitely have bled out in a few minutes' time at best. He hasn't noticed you yet. He doesn't seem to be aware of anything, really.

>[X]Try to question him.

As carefully as you can, you slowly creep towards the downed fighter. Viktor hisses at you to stop, but you're already in the clearing. Even if you're no longer under it's control, you used to be a fighter too, right? So he should recognize you like they used to!
His rifle has been dropped by his feet, and he seems content to let it lie. Gently as you can, you ease it a little further from him. He still hasn't looked around or shown any acknowledgement of your presence. He's either not interested in you, or REALLY in pain! You hope it's not the second one.

His right hand rests heavily on his pistol, but he doesn't seem to be making a movement for it. Now standing right in front of him, still with no reaction, Viktor seems to realize it's pretty safe. He stands up and makes his way over to you as you're very carefully removing the fighter's pistol from its holster. Once clear, you address him. "Hi there! Are you okay? My name's Loli, I'm here to help!"

Steadily, his head rolls about his neck. With an effort, his face plate tips back so he can examine you through his eye holes.
Then you notice it. His left arm, laid out beside him, palm down and away from you.
There's something in his fist.
Click. "All Hail the Monolith."

"GET DOWN!" Your instincts take over, and you respond to the sudden threat with a drop-kick. Planting both feet in the dying man's chest, you use him as a spring board to hurl yourself away from him, at the same time pushing him over and onto his own grenade.

Ice hits the dirt at the same time as you, both of you covering your heads until the soft, squelchy "pomp" lets you know the grenade has gone off. You instantly roll over, pulling your pistol as you do to bring to bear on the fresh corpse. The fact that most of his torso is now missing suggests that it's an unnecessary precaution.

You pick yourselves up in time for Kris to come sprinting into the clearing. "Ice! Loli! Are you okay? What happened?"

Ice grumbles a response. "Nothing. Just found a live one."

She looks concernedly between the two of you, then seems to notice the blood-spattered corpse and realize what happened, and lets the situation go. Her usual exuberant expression returns as she looks back to you both. "Anyway, come quick! You won't believe how this gun works!"

Instead of where a cannon barrel should be, there's just two metal rails sticking out of the blast shield. A sliding bar sits atop them both, with a little seat just big enough to fit an average-sized shell. "It works on magnetic principles," Kris explains excitedly as she continues attempting to reassemble the bits of pieces of the weapon that almost ended you. "See, the current flows through here which causes a magnetic field to form around this bar. That means it gets pulled... up here, like this. And with enough current, it can pull it as fast as it likes!" She continues sliding the bar around like a toddler with a new toy, grinning like an idiot.

"Great," Ice says. The enthusiasm in his voice somewhat less than that implied by his words. "So where do they get the power?"

Kris falters a little. "I don- Viktor's looking for it now. It got a bit blown away..."

"Here!" Viktor calls out, hurrying back over to you. In his hands, he proudly presents a clear crystal ball, about the size of an apple. Inside it, there's a faint blue glow. "They're called flashes," he tells you helpfully. "They're useful 'cause they can absorb electric shocks and stuff that would otherwise fry you in a split second. Looks like our Monolith friends have worked out how to get a stored charge out of them as well. There's only a little charge left in this one."

Kris takes the ball from him eagerly, while Ice just moans some more. "Great. Always some new way for the Zone to ruin my day."

Pursuing is still just playing into their hands. What we actually need to do is get sneakier. Work out an effective communication system so we can be scouting territory ahead while keeping Eliza close enough to be able to move in to assist when necessary but far enough away to not give away our position. Then we can hit the north, hopefully with less ambushes.

G'night, Kaleun-senpai.

I think we should talk about Dave.
First off, we shouldn't call him useless, because he's saved our asses multiple times now, in situations where nobody else could.
He's a specialist.

I think he's a psion/psyker/witch/controller/whateveryouwannacallit, or at least far more in touch with the Zone than he has any right to be.
>>
>>33658215
yeah, Dave isn't useless, the problem is that his touch with the zone makes him lose touch with reality.
>>
>>33658215
He is useless, because he refuses to be of use. He just does whatever he feels like without any regard for the group, frequently does nothing at all even when specifically asked to, he's condescending, he refuses to share whatever knowledge he presumably has except in cryptic riddles, he consorts with the Monolith, and he apparently goes berserk if he stops popping pills (what happens when he runs out?).

You call him a specialist, but what are you going to do with a specialist who can't even be relied on to help?
>>
>>33658473
He can't be expected to help, and he isn't consistent, but he can help with things that nobody else can.
He can talk to Eliza, Monolith, and god knows what else.
He can bitch-slap controllers, even when they've fucked everyone's collective shit.
He's a tool (heh) that can only be applied to certain tasks with any effectiveness.

All I'm saying is, he's an asset, and we probably shouldn't piss him off because we HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HE'S CAPABLE OF.
>>
>>33658557
Who cares about assets? You're goddamn Loli, you don't want assets. You want friends.

He said he wanted to be your friend, but so much of the time he's not! He just sits by and laughs when you're in trouble. Friends don't do that! Friends help and support each other, even when it hurts the most. Friends help their friends learn and grow stronger instead of showing off. And friends share the adventure instead of keeping secrets and plotting by themselves!

So be our friend, and we'll be his too. If he really means it.
>>
>>33659464
At last, I truly see.

I was blinded by practicality and grown-up thinking or something.

But now, I understand.

We're Loli. Friendship is power!
>>
>>33659464
But that's exactly why we shouldn't be so harsh. He's here for the same reason we are; to have fun. He's a kindred spirit.
>>
should we try hugging Dave if/when he does something good?
>>
>>33661218
Hmmm. Maybe.

We really should do more hugging in general, though.

Vasa-neechan probably needs loads of hugs.
Ice, too.

Hell, I'd bet Viktor and Eliza wouldn't mind hugs too much, either.
>>
bump and agreeing with >>33661556, we need to hug more stuff overall
>>
>>33660069
No. You can't just have someone laugh at you getting mangled when he could be helping, or let you charge into combat alone when you specifically asked him to have your back, and still call him your friend. That's lying to both of you. Maybe he's crazy and not doing it on purpose in which case he should definitely be told so he can try to be a better friend. If you were unintentionally upsetting your friend you'd want to know too. Or maybe he knows he's being an asshole in which case screw that jerk.
>>
>>33661556
Don't forget that excessive hugging deflates the value of hugging. If you keep doing it, people will just stop appreciating it, no matter how adorable you are. You should always make sure to have a reason to unload your affection on someone so your hugs are more than just crazy overly attached girl being overly attached.

Cuteness alone doesn't let you get away with everything.
>>
>>33666903
>>33665339
>>33661556
>>33661218
Okay, here's the plan:
We ask Dave if he's really our friend or not, tell him he's batshit insane, and give him a big ol' hug.

Alternatively, we tell Dave he's crazy, ask if he's our friend, and hug him if the answer is yes.
>>
>>33667035
The question is meaningless on its own, is it not? There's no confrontation if you don't point out that he's actually upsetting you and making you angry most of the time.
>>
>>33667758
>is it not

Dammit, anon.

Now I wanna see Loli in a top hat and a monocle.
>>
>>33659464
only just caught up on the thread now and this is brilliant

we need to tell Dave this
>>
>>33661556
I agree completely.

We need to hug EVERYONE, unless they are trying to kill us, then we HUG THEM WITH KNIVES
>>
>>33666996
this is why you have various levels of hugs and headpats, so you can still distribute hugs to all, yet make hugs for special friends special

I'm not sure if I'm being mocked here or not.

So aside from consistently being annoyed with Dave, I'll just list some other things I feel deserve being done while the thread is still asleep. Feel free to disagree with my faggotry, I'm still posting it.

>Did Vasa let us keep any of her knives? If not, we need to go negotiate with her, maybe trade chocolate for magical flying knives with a promise that we'll practice reeeeeaaaaaally hard every day
>(tasteful) co-op cosplay with as many participants as we can convince (I don't know if Beard would let the guys join). It really needs to happen before we leave for the north
>Inquire with Beard about the possibility of sending a letter home, now that Vasa made us feel guilty about the whole running away thing

And because I like quoting my self
>Work out an effective communication system so we can be scouting territory ahead while keeping Eliza close enough to be able to move in to assist when necessary but far enough away to not give away our position. Then we can hit the north, hopefully with less ambushes.
Unless someone knows a better way to penetrate the zone that isn't just driving into every trap at full speed hoping nobody dies in the crash. I just don't want to repeat the last attempt. It went bad for a reason.

2142 catgirls unrelated, just needed some pixels with all this text and I think it's cute.
.
>>
>>33668547
do i have a really dirty mind, or...
>>
>>33668573
silly anon, Loli does not hug Vasa like Kris does at night when they think no one is watching, no, Loli's hugs are made from pure 98% FRIENDSHIP with the remaining 2% being her scheming to get close so she can knife you in the back if you don't like her hugs
>>
>>33668568
You're not being mocked, I'm just sleep-deprived- and, more importantly, tophatmonocleloli deprived.

Your points are all valid.

>>33668594
I trusted Kris more when she was boning Ice, to be honest.
Leaving him for Vasa- and telling him exactly why- was really cold, inexperience or not.
Hell, she could have told him she was gay, but she just said she was willing to TRY going lez-modo for Vasa because Vasa tried out the D and didn't like it.

I'm happy for Vasa-neechan, obviously, and I don't think Kris is going to do something evil- I think she's far more dangerous... I think she's an idiot.
>>
>>33668568
>>(tasteful) co-op cosplay with as many participants as we can convince (I don't know if Beard would let the guys join). It really needs to happen before we leave for the north
This. its essentially free money for a little bit of embarrassment, and we're in the Zone for fucks sake.
>Inquire with Beard about the possibility of sending a letter home, now that Vasa made us feel guilty about the whole running away thing
Thats a good idea.
>Did Vasa let us keep any of her knives? If not, we need to go negotiate with her, maybe trade chocolate for magical flying knives with a promise that we'll practice reeeeeaaaaaally hard every day
I'd rather we make our own throwing knives and make Vasa proud of us
>Work out an effective communication system so we can be scouting territory ahead while keeping Eliza close enough to be able to move in to assist when necessary but far enough away to not give away our position. Then we can hit the north, hopefully with less ambushes.
yeah, we need to figure out some scouting procedures for when we're travelling through unknown territory
>>
>>33668568
Vasa didn't make us feel guilty. She gave us her opinion, and that was that. We still support our course of action. I feel like the whole sending a letter home thing isn't something Loli would think about at it, and actually pulling it off would also be pretty hard. For one, I'm pretty sure they lived in the middle of nowhere, and not sure if Loli even knows her old address.
>>
>>33668637
>I think she's far more dangerous... I think she's an idiot.
Good thing she's a medic
>>
>>33668685
I'm not suggesting any form of regret about running away. She definitely does not regret it. But I am suggesting that, being a stupid child she never realized she was hurting them until someone showed her what it's like on the other end. From what I can tell she still loves them, probably even told herself she'd be doing them a favor since they wouldn't have to fight because of her or be disappointed in her anymore. Doing a little something to try to make them feel better wouldn't be such a terrible thing would it?

>[X]Let her keep at it while you make sure there's nothing more to loot.
>[X]Head back to Skadovsk.

You leave Kris and Viktor to it, returning to scanning the area for anything worth taking with you back to Skadovsk. Looking over to Vasa, you think it's a good thing you don't need anyone to drive Eliza anymore. What with how she's currently using the driver's seat as a dumping spot for guns and packs. She's literally just tossing the dead men's guns into the hole.

You head back into the trees to the four corpses you found before and scout them for useful stuff. Ice doesn't complain when you use him as a pack mule to hold all the fun-looking stuff for you, before you all finally regroup at Eliza. Kris looks unhappily at the gun now being abandoned. "Man, it sucks I can't take it with us." Eliza's gun wiggles a little to center it in her sights, then once more blows it into little pieces.

Viktor grips her shoulder, "at least we got to see it, right? And we managed to steal their flash." She nods, cheering up a little at his words. And with that, Eliza rotates herself around and begins to carry you home.

The trip is a pretty safe one from here. With Monolith pulled back, you know these roads are safe. Apart from Ice keeping his eye out in all direction, Viktor is lounging across Eliza's hull, Kris and Vasa are talking (relatively) quietly together in front of you, and Dave is staring at the sky, head craning rapidly as if searching for something. So his usual calm state.

"Dave." You call out to the man distracted by the clouds. "Dave. Dave!" He jerks around, eyes frantically assessing you before recognition passes through him.

"Yes, childe?"

"You're crazy. You know that, right?" You pose the question you feel needs to be asked.

"Hnnn~" His response, beside that amused squeal, is to hold up his pill bottle and rattle it at you. The fact that it only has a few more pills in it is rather worrying.

You frown in annoyance. "Are you really our friend? Friends help friends when they need it, you know? And you only ever seem to help us when you feel like it. That's not a very nice thing to do!"

He tilts his head in confusion, but doesn't offer a response so you keep going. "Friends help their friends learn, they don't just show off! And- friends share adventures. They don't keep secrets!"

His face contorts into a difficult expression. "Ie... don't, know, what yhou are asking, off me. Ie hkave shared, more than -any- other man has shared whith a -friendly- before."
Something about the way he worded that rubs you up the wrong way, but you can't seem to put your finger on it.
"Frankly," he continues after a pause, "Ie am a little... insulted." He draws the word out. "When hkave I ever, refused to assist you when yhou hkave truly needed me?"

"That is your problem Dave, you only help when you decide you want to, not when we ask, like when I asked you to help put out the fire, you stood there laughing at it, you let valuable equipment and supplies burn doing the exact opposite of helping. A friend would not have done that, a friend would have helped saved those valuable supplies which could have greatly helped us out, now and in the future. Dave, you need to stop being so secretive and cryptical, because that does not help, it just confuses me, and you know what happens when I'm confused? THEY start winning, THEY start hurting me and my friends, and that's bad. You don't want THEY to win do you Dave?"

I wrote that to try and make him understand where we are coming from, our point of view, and then explain it in schemy plotting terms he might begin to understand, so that we can get over the massive gap between us and him, because its very clear Loli and Dave don't see eye to eye

that is what I intended, and what I voted for, and I believe the others voted for exactly that to, to have a conversation with him where we get this off our chest and make him understand, and work through these issues, and not just randomly insert dialogue completely counter to the point of our votes

last nights discussions were random idle chatter about OOC opinions of him, not Loli's IC thoughts and views, theres a difference between the two

Also, he's an extra body to help out, which is always handy
>>
>>33670983

>>
>>33671011
>But if we can't actually connect to him, and rely on him
I think we can, we just have to get him to understand Loli and get past that mental wall between the two.

Besides, he has only at worst been neutral in things by not helping, and never negatively impacting Loli or her work directly, his antics are also hilarious to read though sometimes frustrating to deal with
>>

He's crazy, but he's gotten our asses out of the fire several times.

"And that's the problem, Dave! You only help when you want to, not when we ask you! Like when that chimera attacked, you just watched! It almost killed us!" And just now, I asked you to help with the fire and you just laughed! A friend would've helped even if they didn't want to!"

He scratches his cheek, then shrugs helplessly at you. "Ie pretend nothing, childe. Ie simply wish, to interfere as little as possible. Perhaps... Ie may also ask a question of yhou. Why is it, yhou feel the- desire, to meddle in things which are not, off yhour concern?"

You frown. "What? When have I ever-"

Now he's the one to cut you off. "The men at the mill need not hkave perished. We could hkave, simply left them be. Instead, yhou murder them all." You open your mouth, but he's still talking. "Taking work to make this area, safe," his mouth curls in distaste around the word, "and hkelping those who exist. There are faster means, off acquiring necessary items." You frown, ready to ask him to make an example, but he beats you to it. "Less men require less food. Two or three off us whould easily survive on your... costume pay."
He waves a hand behind, back towards the Freedom outpost. "This fire, and their wounded, were not, our concern. The supplies yhou saved whith those efforts hkelped those, warriors, not ourselves." Finally, he falls silent, looking to you for an answer.

derp, something popped up and I missed the update, sry bout that

"Dave, have you ever had an honest friend in your life? One you could count on to help you out when you needed it for nothing at all, one you could depend on to cover your back without paying them?

I do these things because I want to make friends, I would rather make a friend of someone than kill them, even if I have to feed and supply them. Why? Because I know, that in The Zone, you don't survive long by yourself, you don't go where we are heading and make it there and out alive without friends helping you, watching your back, you watching theirs.

I have a vision, of the Zone one day being a peaceful place, where people don't have to stab, shoot, claw, murder, backstab, steal, and betray their fellow people just to survive and profit. I want to make this a better place, and have fun doing it alongside my friends, and I want to do it with you as my friend, but you make it very hard to understand why you do what you do sometimes Dave, and not knowing why you do what you do frustrates me.

I just want to make friends and have fun, and I can't do that by murdering my way through the Zone, you know how I know that? The same reason why I hate Monolith and why I'm called Giltine. Monolith possessed, mind controlled me, turned me into a monster, endlessly killing, slaughtering people for no good reason, They call me Giltine because of that, and I don't like it."

might be a bit long...
>>
>>33671361 here

that might need some 'Loli-fication' as I was having a hard time making it seem like a 12 year old said that
>>
>>33671361
Ehh, bit grand for the character don't you think? She wasn't opposed to killing people pre- or post-monolith. Fighting is fun, just that at one point we ran out of things that didn't want to fight and that was bad. Plus if the zone was safe, it wouldn't be adventure. Could just go home if we didn't want adventure.
>>
>>33671411
>Ehh, bit grand for the character don't you think?
a bit, it could probably be toned down some
>She wasn't opposed to killing people pre- or post-monolith
no she wasn't, she was opposed to killing like she did while controlled by Monolith, just willy nilly slaughtering random mooks and being utterly brutal, after she broke free of Monolith she tried very very hard to work towards redeeming herself

there is a world of difference between when Loli kills a bandit who've attacking her friends, and just letting allies get slaughtered so we don't have to feed them

the whole Giltine saga changed her drastically and was a very character defining moment for her, when she came to Skadovsk and learnt of her new nickname and what it meant, and her efforts with Beard to redeem herself
>>
>>33671444

>>
>>33671499

>>
>>33671513
Loli doesn't want pacifism, peace, or redemption. She wants to have fun, and she does that to healthy degree by stabbing things. Yeah, she has friends, and she makes nice with them. Yeah, she talks cute and acts friendly to whatever happens her fancy - even and especially bloodthirsty monsters. And yeah, she came back to Beard and runs a whole modelling gig for him now. But the character you're describing isn't her, and it doesn't seem based on her either.
>>
>>33671559
>or redemption
She did and she achieved it, so it isn't a concern for her anymore, but that does not remove it from her characters history.

But I do understand your other points.
>>
>>33671444
The Giltinè thing did result in a large clash between players on where to go with the character. Embracing the name and being even more murderous or having the character be horrified with herself and try to redeem herself.

What was actually played out since then wasn't either. We made efforts to help people out and to show that we aren't the same as the Monolith boogeyman, but the character still expressed a distinct love of fighting. When Beard asked why we are in the Zone, do you remember the answer?

To have fun.

I stand by that. That's our character motivation. We don't want just carnage, nor do we want to be a saint. We want to have fun. Since then we also made some friends, so now we want to have fun with our friends because that's even more fun, and we sure as hell want those friends to be the best goddamn friends ever. What else could we ever need?

The way I remember it, all she really did was prove she wasn't with the Monolith anymore. She didn't change who she was or even pretend to.

"Dave... we can't survive the Zone on our own. We need people that will help us. That means being there for them when they need it, so they'll be there when -we- need it." You pause. "Have you ever had a real friend? Someone who was willing to just help for the sake of helping you? Someone you could trust and count on?"

He nods, "of course. They are dead. Some, they, meddled once too often in things which should not, have been their task. Some were, curious, and knew too much. It is... easier, when they only stay as involved as is needed."

Once more you find yourself faced with an opinion so terrible different to yours. "But that's not fair," you protest. "They made the effort to help you because they wanted to be your friend! Just because it didn't work out once doesn't mean you should stop."

Dave looks away from you. "Yhou, and yhour allies remain as friendlies. Ie fail to, see what issue yhou are protesting now."

He seems to want to be done with this conversation, but you definitely know he doesn't want to acknowledge what you're getting at.

It sounds a bit stand-off-ish. Loli tends to be a bit more decisive, doesn't she?
>>
>>33671669
Then post a better idea. I don't have one.
>>
>>33671669
maybe, Loli did trust that Vasa would tell Kris when Vasa promised.

I think nows the time for Loli to let Dave stew in his thoughts for now while Loli focuses on having FUN
>>
>>33671669
Think of this as a long-term goal. It'll take some time, but we want Dave to be our friend, instead of just being our ally. That means we should only push at the right moments. It'll probably be more effective anyways to help Dave with something important than just talk to him about it, so he knows firsthand how useful a friend can be.

However, I am 100% for instituting the Crazy Dave Policy. Gotta keep our chocolate reserves high; I think we're down to like two bars now.

>>
>>33671682
>>33671719
I'm not saying we have to push the topic. I just feel like saying "Think about how I'm right until I force the topic on you again" is a bit unusual for her.

One, anon. We have one bar. And if I remember correctly, it was just a scrap from the ruins of the station, so it might not even be good.
>>
>>33671740
its probably that shitty Ukranian chocolate
>>
>>33671724
now this sounds more like Loli

Well we ARE in the Ukraine (shut up Russia, you can't have the Zone back) so you gotta expect there to be some of that lying around.
>>

yes, but it does not hold a candle to that delicious Galaxy brand Russian chocolate

You lean over and pull his waist into a tight hug. "I'll make you understand. Somehow." Without loosening your grip, you look up to gauge his response.

Dave smiles. It... actually seems genuine. It kind of creeps you out. "Ie shalle think on your words, childe." He rattles his pill bottle at you like a toy.

There's a sudden, light jump as Eliza hits a dip in the road. Kris squeaks ahead of you as Vasa grabs her for support. You hold tight to Dave, using him to keep you upright. Dave seems to stay perfectly steady.

"...Ah."

You look up to see what he's- oh. His hand is empty. He's looking at the stream running alongside the road.

He slowly turns to regard you.

"Yhou... may wish to restrain me."

That's easy. Just do like we did with Mickey!

Mickey will never join the party.
>>
>>33671834
I've honestly forgotten Mickey and that makes me sad, help me remember him anon.
>>
>>33671845
Mickey was the man who found a loli in a box deep in the Zone and assumed that nothing could possibly go wrong. He lost an eye and didn't even get to keep the loli.

He forgave us but I don't remember if we ever actually made it up to him.

That's it for this session, folks! Please prepare yourselves for an extra FUN session next time! Though I'm not sure when it will be. I'd like to be tomorrow, but I'm not hopeful.

Meantime, thread end as usual! I'll be around for Q&A, as will my new ask page thingy at http://ask.fm/Loli_Kaleun

Thanks for reading, and I hope to see you all next time!
>>
>>33671906
Thanks for the thread HK, cya next time.

>>33671882
OH HIM

Fuck, if he's still alive we need to drag him along for our ADVENTURES.

And we still need to hunt down those mercs who stole Loli's backpack her dad gave to her that had that weight saving artifact in.

I STILL REMEMBER THAT BACKPACK HK

I WILL HAVE IT UPON LOLI'S BACK ONCE MORE

Thanks for the thread, HK.
I don't think I've been this excited about LSQ since we fought Kiyiya.

No seriously though guys, we should maybe make a plan before next thread rolls around. Dave seems like the most dangerous guy we've met; we gotta get him chained up and back at that lab to grab more pills.
And when I say restrained, I mean hands, feet, everything; spare no expense. If we don't have a muzzle, we should make some sort of gag.

I know, which was why I said >>33671801
>OH FUCK QUICK UNLIMBER ELIZA'S TOW CHAINS AND CHAIN HIM TO THE FRONT OF THE HULL
Eliza would have tow chains for getting unstuck, and those chains can support the weight of a 50ton tank, so they should hold Dave, we just need to chain him down the the tank, probably the engine deck, and hurry to that friendly science outpost
>>
>>33671920
Hm? When did our backpack get stolen? The mercs at the lab took a bunch of our stuff, but not our pack? When else did we get robbed?
>>
>>33672082
IIRC they took our hello kitty backpack and everything we had except for our clothes and our hello kitty belt
>>
>>33672082
I don't think we've had the weight artifact for months.
My memory's pretty fuzzy, but I'm sure we've been robbed or dropped our stuff a few times by now.

Oh, I just remembered. Does Dave still have our Degal? Someone take a note; we should snag that off of him next session.
>>
>>33672119
The one he used to shoot the controller? I think he returned that immediately.

>>33672105
Pretty sure they let us keep the bag, since it's worthless to them anyway. And I remember upgrading for a bigger one when Vasa taught us economics.
>>
>>33672119
>I don't think we've had the weight artifact for months.
No we haven't, those bastards robbed us of it and left us to die.

And I want that fucking artifact back and I want those mercs to pay for stealing our shit
>>
>>33672229
They most likely sold that artifact long ago. Perhaps even to Beard himself. Not like he'd care even if he knew it was stolen from you. And really, do we really want to go all the way back there, just to kill some guys for petty revenge.

Captcha: clean thslong

That's right. We don't need to get back on the revenge train now.
>>
>>33672467
we don't need to go all petty revenge, but we should track them down, sneak up on them, scare the everloving shit out of them with OUR FUCKING TANK and then very politely ask that they buy us what they stole from us
>>
>>33672519
That's even crazier, anon.

How are you going to sneak up on someone with a TANK? Shit's huge and loud no matter what it's doing.
>>
>>33672596
hey CREED managed it, I'm sure we can with some wacky hijinks, I mean, we faked a blowout for fucks sake

or we could just sneak up on them first THEN scare them with our tank
>>
>>33672637
I hate to be the guy who kills the fun, I really do, but that's probably a really bad idea. Freedom lost their supply posts, so we don't have anyone to supply us with fuel and ammo anymore. I'd suggest that Eliza doesn't get taken on any trips that aren't strictly necessary unless we find a new supplier.
>>
>>33673188
>Freedom lost their supply posts
true, though Loki did say we could have whatever we saved, and we have no idea what we saved after our awesome firefighting efforts
>>
>>33673188
Or we mad science it up and use artifacts and other Zone shit to keep her running
>>
>>33673294
We're not scientists, though, even if some of our members have at least some understanding of science. I'm not sure Dave even is one, he was probably just pretending.
>>
>>33673394
It's probably just a normal combustion engine. Maybe we could stuff some fire and gravity artifacts in there.
>>
>>33673394
thats why we get the mad scientists to help out
>>
>>33673443
But anon, we've only spoken to the sane scientists of the Zone, not the mad scientists.

Mind control doesn't count as conversation
