You stare up at the starry sky through the forest canopy. You are Zachery Grant, or at least that is your assumption. You know for a fact that you are Vertigo the level 90 monk, raid leader for <Swich Licour>, and all around bad ass. You don't actually believe that last one, but if you say it enough one day it will be true, right?

You changed course after a certain incident and started heading for your brother instead of Brotherhood like you had planned. Should you tell your brother? You probably should. It would be terrible if you walk past each other.

But what if he doesn't want you there?

No. That's silly. He's your brother. Of course he wants your there. Why wouldn't he!? Hell, if he doesn't want you there, then fuck him! You shouldn't care what he thinks of you! He told you that, so it must be true!

You focus on your friend list and call the first name there: Ambrosis.

RING

RING

RI-

“Hello?” He asks.

Okay. You need to sound like you know what you're doing. None of that wishy-washy shit. “Hey!” You say excitedly.

“What's wrong?” He asks.

Okay. Time to tell him that you're heading his way now. You just gotta say it. But what if he doesn't want you there? You gotta think of something! “So, I'm looking at this fork in the road and I can't help but wonder that maybe waiting for you in Brotherhood isn't the best idea.”

“Are you saying you're going back to Big Apple!?”

Strange emotions well up inside you.

Big Apple.

You remember King and how you're not with her anymore. She said she would call you when she found out what to do with you. She hasn't called since you left Big Apple.
>>
>>33755569
“NO!” You shout, “What I'm saying is... Maybe just sitting in an inn for a month waiting for you or King to get here isn't the right thing to do. I mean, it'll be who knows how long till the guild can expand to the next town over, so maybe I can just start heading for you and we can meet smack dab in the middle of the Frontier or something and after that we can both head for Brotherhood or something.”

“Zachery, who did you piss off?” Is his response.

“Who said I pissed off anyone!?” You actually didn't this time!

“I did.” He says in a stern voice. “Now who did you piss off?”

“I didn't...” What's the point? If he's accusing you now he won't believe you anyway. “Okay. Well, I didn't mean to...” You need to think of something. “Okay. I...” Maybe if you just embellish some things?

You take a deep breath.

“Okay, so,” You begin, “There I was, in one of the small towns, and I saw all these Adventurers playing football, but with their abilities. So kinda like Blood Bowl, really.” That part was true. Apparently Brotherhood was trying to put on some kind of football league to distract everyone from their troubles. You caught a ball that flew off the field and asked if you could play.

They said no.

“Anyways,” You continue, “So there we are, playing the game, when I think, 'Ah ha! I'll just use my knockback on the ball to send it flying!' Well, I sent it flying a bit too hard.” That was a lie. They never let you play. You got angry and used your knockback on the ball to send it flying, but it only went the normal knockback length, which was next to nothing. They all began laughing at you, so you turned around and just left. “Yadda yadda yadda, the village is on fire.” It just came to you. You had no idea what you were saying anymore.
>>
>>33755603
“I feel like you're skipping over the important part of that story.” He responds.

“Okay, well, the ball isn't really a ball as much as it's a stone carved into the shape of a football, cause, you know, if it was a normal ball we'd just crush it.” That part was true, you just needed to stall to think of something.

“Pretty sure that's not the part I was talking about.”

“Okay! Fine! The ball blew a hole into the town hall, knocked over a lantern and lit the place on fire.” You're just making things up at this point. “So, I thought, 'I know, I'll just blow out the fire with my abilities!'”

“God damn it, Zachery.”

“Don't you 'God damn it, Zachery' me! It was a good idea at the time!” He's going to think you're an idiot after this. You just know it. “So, as I was saying, I use Kick of the East Wind to try and blow out the fire, but it just kinda fed the flames... and sent flaming bits onto other houses. So I thought I could fix it with-”

“I think I get the picture.”

“So, anyways, I'm just saying... you know... I can start heading to you... if you want.”

“Yeah, just... just head on over.” He says, “And just WALK! Don't talk to anyone, don't touch anything, don't do ANYTHING that isn't walking here or sleeping!”

“Okay, okay! Yeesh!” You say, “I'm not an idiot, you know.”

He goes silent.

“Oh!” You shout, “So, I have a present for you!” You look into your bag to make sure it's still there. It is. A whole pizza, only vaguely stale. “You haven't had food with taste yet, right?”

“Uhhh... no...?”

“Good! Cause I got a New York style pizza with your name on it! I hope it keeps in my inventory.”

“So how long do you think it will take you to get here?”

“Well, I've been heading for you for about two days now, so I'll hit the Frontier in a three days, maybe?”

“Wait. What!? How long ago did you burn down that village!?”

“Umm... Well, you know that night you called me?”
>>
>>33755637
“Yeah...?”

“The morning after that night.”

“So you're only telling me now because?”

“Because you could have told me no if I asked.” It was the truth. That is the exact reason you haven't told him yet.

“Oh. Of course. BECAUSE THAT MAKES PERFECT SENSE!”

“It does make sense!”

“I..! You know what? Forget it. Just get here with that pizza.”

“Okay...”

He sighs. “Look, just... just stay safe, okay? I don't want to hear about how you got ganked in the middle of the Frontier and now you're suddenly all the way on the east coast again.”

“I'm a monk decked out in raiding gear. Unless I get ganked by a top tier guild like <Last Valley> or <BEES> or something, I doubt anyone's going to bring me down faster than I can run away.” That was the god damn truth. They'd need to be some high class PvPers. Or just a lot of PvPers. Or someone with range who can kite you. Or someone with a lot of potion.

“You just have to jinx yourself like that, don't you?”

“Pffft! I'll be fine!”

He sighs again. “Okay. Fine. But if you're not fine, I'm going to kill you. Understand? You not fine equals me killing you.”

“I get it, I get it!”

“Okay. Stay safe.”

“You too.”

CLICK.

You go back to looking up at the sky. They twinkle and shine in such uncountable multitudes. You don't think you've ever seen so many stars in your life. This strange tapestry of lights was the birthplace of gods and religion. You're sure of that.

You get off the ground and head into your tent. You rest your head on what is more or less a slightly more comfortable part of the ground. “She's not going to call me, is she?” You ask the open air of your tent.

The air does not respond.
>>

You roll over to your other side and try not to think about it.

The next day you wake up not feeling very well rested.

You pack up your things and start heading down the road.

It takes you a whole day of walking, but you finally reach the Mississippi river, the last real obstacle before the Frontier. Just a hop across the river in Charon's ferry and you'll be in Frontier country. Not really, it's still a day's journey from there, but close enough!

You round a bend in the road and spot the clearing of Charon's dock, which is currently being camped by a bunch of <Last Valley> members. Just your luck, right?

You can't just try and swim through the water. The stuff was cursed by a river spirit or something and now damages anyone that swims in it. You have a boat load of HP, though, you MIGHT be able to make it, but you'll surely get killed if the PKers notice you.

[ ] Trying running for the boat. Maybe you can outrun them.

Oh and I just read another misc chapter of the Harem section and telepathy definitely doesn't need to be spoken so people talking while using it is probably just habit and not being used to doing so in RL.

They might also just have dudes waiting hidden on the other side so that anyone who tries to sneak past them or rush to the ferry gets themselves into a giant trap. Of course Zach probably hasn't thought of that but hopefully if that's the case it'll be revealed.

You stay hidden in the treeline, observing the group of PKers. There are only 5 of them.

The first is a curvacious woman in white, spiderweb clothing that reveals more than it hides. The name BigMoney floats above her head along with 90 Summoner and 90 Tracker. She might be a huge threat, she might be a joke, it all depends on how much RNG screwed her.

The second is a bald human with a giant, magnificent, brown mustache. He's dressed in a heavy wool coat, dyed brown to match his mustache, and has a bandana on his head. In his hand was a huge hammer and on his chest was a heavy plate of black steel. MaverikMustachio, 90 Pirate, and 90 Berserker stood above his head. He'll definitely be a huge worry. Tank berserkers were always a scary thing.

The third was a calico werecat dressed in black leather. He held a bow made of bone, decorated with flaming skulls. CattButt stood above his head along with 90 Assassin and 90 Animal Trainer. You couldn't see an animal with him, but with a level of 90 he had to have one somewhere, and knowing the <Last Valley>, it's probably one of the most OP if not down right over the top pets in the game.

The fourth was simply named TheCleaner. A human duelist in black chainmail who was completely devoid of hair on his head and on his face. He stood with a stern look, the kind you'd expect from some kind of world class hit man. His subclass was cleaner. You're not sure why someone would actually take the subclass, especially if NPCs will do it for you. He probably only did it for the joke. Unless there's some cleaner ability you don't know about.
>>
>>33757725
The final one was a wolf-fang medicine man/chef named CheeseAndBeans. He is dressed in heavy leather decorated with bone carvings of spikes and animals. His red ears stick through the feathers of his headdress as he bobs his head back and forth, as if listening to a song no one else could hear. He sat upon the ground looking over his spear. Melee medicine men were a scary bunch, able to hand out free shields just by hitting you.

You definitely can't take on all of them. You might barely be able to take out one. Maybe the assassin if you could get the drop on him.

You continue to observe them until TheCleaner suddenly shouts, “I'm bored!”

“We're all bored!” BigMoney snaps back in a quite masculine voice, “Jus' cause you're bored don't mean you gotta start sayin' it.”

“But I'm booooooored!” The bald man retorts, “I mean, come on! No one is going into the Frontier! Why the hell would they!? You hear about that artifact that dropped yesterday in the Frontier? NO YOU DIDN'T! Cause everyone's too busy trying to find cooking ingredients to sell to those <Swich Licour> fucks so they can get something to eat!”

The medicine man interjects, “Someone will come sooner or later. There's always someone who wants access to the Frontier. The second someone needs ghost fish or spirit herbs they will need to get to the Frontier. When that happens they'll head here. And when they head here they will pay the fine. Or die. But with travel as it is now, I doubt anyone would die for the chance to save only a thousand gold.”

“Ain't nobody gonna want ghost fish.” BigMoney argues, “Shit looks ugly as fuck.”

The ferry comes riding up to the docks. A derelict steam boat powered by the will of the undead captain.

“Hey Charon!” The group shouts in unison.

The boat gives a toot of its whistle.

“Any passengers!?” The medicine man shouts.

Two toots this time.
>>
>>33757754
“See, this some bullshit!” The summoner shouts, “No one's goin' in! No one's comin' out! Ain't nobody gonna come here! We're wastin' our time! We're better off tryin' ta find some NPC village an' steal all their crops an' shit!”

The assassin finally speaks, “If we go anywhere near Big Apple we'll be strung up forever.”

“Then we'll get a middle man!” The summoner continues, “Grab some lander from the village an' make him do it! Infact, fuck tryin' ta steal the shit! We'll jus' walk up ta one of them mother fuckin' villages and say, We're the god damn law now and ya'll gotta pay taxes! Food taxes!”

“I highly doubt that would work.” The assassin responds.

“Well it's gonna be a lot more useful than jus' sittin' here with our thumbs up our asses!”

The medicine man waves his arms to get everyone's attention. “Everyone calm down. We'll try this for one more day. If nothing happens we'll try Big's idea.”

“Damn straight yer gonna.”

I know Zach can be a dick but if we leave those guys his conscience is going to have even more on it.
We should warn the nearest town or send a message back to the Big Apple so that we can have a person who actually is in said area can warn/defend the villagers.

If not enough people are there that can fight these dudes then we at least warned em so that they can hide their stuff or setup a daring ruse.
If there are people then we're some bigshot badass raid leader aren't we? Time to take charge and kick some ass. Saving a town will probably look good when "the law" comes for us for that murder too.

>>
>>33758315
I didn't say anything about arming Landers. Your mind made all that up. When I said help I meant lv 90 adventurer help. If no lv 90 adventurers they could rush to convert it into a ghost town where everyone died of the plague or something to scare em off for example.
You mind comes up with the most absurd things.
>>
>>33758369
When you said "find a few others" Landers were the first thing that came to mind. How many friendly level 90 adventurers are around for us to convert to this cause anyway? The ghost town plan is a little better, but hardly seems to be worth the trouble.

You scurry back into the forest, looking for a place to hide. You climb one of the larger trees to get a bird's-eye view of the group. They continue to go on about boredom, hunger, and at one point start teasing BigMoney over the time “he” was killed by a party of level 30s. Then they begin to plan to take over a small farming village. You should probably tell someone about this. You can't stop them, but maybe someone else can. If you can get someone to tell the <Morning Star> they could probably do something. You open your friend list and look for anyone in Big Apple. You know there's a <Morning Star> base there.

King is the first name you find.

You freeze your cursor above her name. KingAzebo. 90 Guardian 90 Dancer. Current Location: Private Building.

You just stare at it for a while. You could call her and get her to tell someone from the <Morning Star> about this.

Then again, it would take them days to get here. Maybe it would be better to try and evacuate the Landers somewhere safe.

Where would be safe, though!? The last village you saw was some two days away and you'd need to personally escort the Landers there.

There was no way you could do that and make it to the Frontier on time.

“Okay.” She responds, “Is there anything else you want me to do?”

“Umm.. I... Not really?” You're quite surprised that this was so simple and that she wasn't angry at all. “You could call me some more... if you want.”

“I would, Zachery, but I still don't know what to do with you.” The word is like an icy dagger in your heart. “You can still call me, you know.”

“I can?” You ask, but then instantly realize asking that was a bad idea. “I mean, I know I can, it's just that I'm so busy traveling across the country that I don't have a lot of time to call.”

“I thought you were going to wait for me in Brotherhood.”

“Well I was, but I realized, you know, it's a waste of time.”

There is a pause.

“Okay.” She says, “That's reasonable.”

“Really?” You respond, a little shocked.

“Of course. But I will not forgive you if I am not the first person he meets when he gets here.”

“But what if he doesn't want to go to Big Apple?”

“Then you're going to make him come here.”

“Actually, forget that last part. The sun went down just before I said that. It's foreshadowing that that's probably a mistake.”

You brace yourself against the trunk of the tree. You try to stay as still as you possibly can.

You try to slow and silence your breath as much as you can.

The bird flaps its wings, but remains where it is.

You try to push back harder, almost praying that you can just sink into the tree.

The bird begins to look around. Down. Up. Away from you. Back down.

A whistling sound.

The bird takes flight away from you.

You breathe a sigh of relief.

You have just narrowly escaped certain death.

“Alright, Cheese,” You hear the summoner below you, “You're tellin' Praxis.”

The medicine man asks, “Explain to me why I'm telling him when it was your idea?”

“Cause you're the one whose s'pposed to be leadin' us. I ain't gonna tell him his shit plan's shit. That's your fuckin' job.”

“Well, maybe I'll just promote you to leader, then.”

“Man, you can suck my dick fer all I care. You're gonna be the one ta tell him cause that's your fuckin' job.”

The assassin interjects, “With a body like yours, I don't think I'd mind.”

“That's fuckin' gay.” The summoner comments.

“I am simply saying.”

“Yeah, sayin' that you gay.”

“I prefer the term 'sexually complex'.”

“Which is code for gaaaaaaaay!”

The voices soon die down as the group leaves the area.

You sigh once more and fully relax your body.

Keeping perfectly still is tiring work. You know this now.

You look around. You could probably go down the tree and make camp, or maybe you should just stay in the tree where you know they can't find you. OR~! Maybe you should just get in the boat now just in case they give up on their plans and head back.

You jump down from the tree branch and land as quietly as you can. A small cloud of dust poofs up when you land.

You look to your left: Nothing but trees.

You look to your right: The docks, and they are completely abandoned by the PKers.

Now is your chance. You do the strange crouch-run that's in just about every action video game nowadays. On your way to the docks you take a moment to wonder if this run is actually real, or just something someone made up and everyone just assumed was real.

You can hear your footfalls reverberate off of the ramshackle dock make of aging planks and gnarled sticks.

You tentatively creep up the gangway and onto the ship.

Normally this place is packed with players trying to get to or from the Frontier or trying to fish up rare fish from the boat, but right now it's just you. Alone. On a haunted boat.

“Tickets?” Asks a spectral man, meandering throughout the ship. He wore an sailor uniform from around the civil war era. Or possibly right after? You weren't very good with dates. Or knowing the order of events. Or anything that had to do with history.

“Tickets?”

You didn't like this spectral man questioning your history knowledge. You knew enough. You watched the history channel. You know all about illuminati aliens trying to cover up ice road trucker secrets and this ghost can't tell you different!

You left the main deck and waltzed up to the bridge, not literally, as after you took the first step in the box step, you remembered that argument you had with King and you didn't really feel like waltzing anymore.

Opening the door you see Captain Charon, an aging ghost-man in a captain's uniform, or what you assume to be a captain's uniform. Curly white hair and a big bushy mustache. His character model was based off of Mark Twain; everyone knew that, even you.
>>
>>33763952

I agree, but this thread would be really boring that way.
>>
>>33764013
The ghost looks to you with weary, sunken eyes. One blink and he is looking back to the waters in front of him.

You look left and then right and then back to the captain. What was taking so long? “We're all set, Captain!” You say, “So we better... you know... go!”

The captain only responds with, “No passengers are allowed on the bridge.”

“What?” You respond, “But I've been in here for... for forever! I always travel up here! It's the only place that's safe from the ghost-krakens!”

“No passengers are allowed on the bridge.” The captain responds.

“But... I'm an Adventurer!”

“No passengers are allowed on the bridge.”

You throw your hands into the air. “Fine! I'm leaving!” You walk out of the room and head down the stairs and onto the open deck. “Swear to god, if a ghost-kraken spawn, I'm going to find some way to kill that guy.”

The steam horn toots and the ship moves forward. The broken paddle-wheels twitch back and forth, as if the engine tried to move, realized it could, backed up, and tried again. This was the movement animation of the ghost ship as it glided across the water. You looked down at the rotten wood that made up the deck. Now that this place was mostly real, how could this stuff even hold up your weight?

Ghost magic. Duh! Of course! It all makes sense now.

But how does ghost magic work? It probably just works because the game said it worked this way. Which, for a game makes perfect sense, but for a world, it makes things feel a bit awkward.

The horn toots one more time to mark the end of its journey. You disembark in little time and look at the dark woods in front of you.

You head deep into the forest. This area is where the trees spawned from the trees spawned from the Great Forest Spirit are. The second generation of OoooOOoOOooo spooky spooky trees. Back in vanilla this place was the lead up to the final area, the Frontier. Of course some 8 expansions later and now the lead up to the final land has become a large forest of nobodies. You could probably one-shot half of the creatures here with your knockback.

You push through bush and branch and bramble on your way to find a good clearing to rest in. You were quite tired, but the area's flora was quite tightly packed and left no good clearings to rest in except for certain places. Your scoured your brain. Trying to find those places again from such a long time ago, in the dark no less, was proving to be a difficult task.

But then, like a sudden light in your mind, you remember the path. You walk the tiny road made in the trees and you find it. The resting spot. Never has a lack of trees looked so beautiful to you.

Then you hear the sound of heavy wings flapping above your head.

With a thunderous landing, scales and wings crash into the ground.

You stare at the beast before you.

A dragon.

An honest to god dragon.

On the outskirts of the Frontier.

In the one place dragons are NEVER supposed to be.

Something inside you snapped.

“YOU SON OF A FUCKING BITCH-WHORE!” You scream, “YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED HERE! THERE ARE NO DRAGONS IN THE FRONTIER, SHIT FOR BRAINS! GOD FUCKING DAMN IT! GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE BEFORE I...”

“BEFORE I CALL DOWN THE GFS ON YOUR PUNK ASS FOR BREAKING THE SOOTSCALE AGREEMENT!” You shout, “YOU WON'T BE SO FUCKING TOUGH WHEN HE WHIPS OUT HIS SPLINTERY DICK AND ASS RAPES YOU TO DEATH!”

The dragon looks around as if you are not even there.

“HE WILL AWAKEN FROM HIS FUCKING SLUMBER AND BREAK YOUR FUCKING SKULL IN TWO CAUSE YOU WERE TOO FUCKING DUMB TO STAY OUT OF HIS GOD DAMN TERRITORY! YA'LL MOTHER FUCKERS LOST THE WAR THE FIRST FUCKING TIME AND NOW YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING TO JUST WALTZ BACK IN HERE AND START STARTING SHIT AGAIN!?”

The dragons looks to the sky in complete ambivalence, as if to wonder what he has been doing with his life.

“HE WILL RISE FROM THE HEART OF THE FOREST AND SPLINTER-FUCK ALL OF YOU IN THE EYE SOCKET!” You take a moment to breathe. Yelling is exhausting work. “ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME!?”

Skin and scale are punctuated by a million tiny white bits, which look like bone, or maybe teeth? The dragon cries out and thrashes until it goes still. The white bits multiply and soon they are all that is left of the creature. Then the form collapses into a pile. A pile of pristine teeth. You are left baffled, confused, and a bit scared.

“NOPE!” You shout and begin sprinting as fast as you can.

You barrel through trees, knocking some over on your way through. GFS isn't going to like that, but you have more important things to worry about!

Faster and faster, as fast as your powerful monk legs can push you. Forward and forward and forward. You don't even feel safe in this area. You're not stopping till you reach the Frontier!

Your body begins to ache and you feel tired and sleepy, but you can't stop. The perpetual feeling of NOPE propels you!

You run till the trees turn to vibrant green hues and wildlife jumps in level to 50. You are in the frontier.

You let your legs grind to a halt and you fall to your knees. You look around at the enchanted forest and decide that this is a good place to camp. Far from dragons made of teeth.

You lie on your back.

You could set up your tent, but... you're just too tired right now.

Your breath is heavy, as are your eyelids. You try to focus on your friend list. You need to tell this to someone.

You choose your brother.

“It happened to you too!?” You shout back.

“There was this guy who I stole a map from! When I tried to return it to him and pay him, he was nothing but teeth! He was like some kind of... tooth golem!”

“There's no such thing as tooth golems in this game... I think.” You can't remember hearing anything about it, but you've also heard some of the foreign summons can get pretty weird.

“I know that now! But that's pretty much the best way to describe it!”

“So... What did you do to him?”

“Nothing! He just fell into a pile of teeth … after I threw some gold at him.”

“WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?”

“It seemed like a good idea at the time!”

“Okay.” You try to calm down, “So crazy tooth guy did that and now he's dead, right?”

“Well... Maybe? No? After that, the BRO, the land-ship, it exploded and in the center of the boiler was... this pillar of teeth and gums, but then the gums just melted or something and then the teeth just kind fell into a pile.”

“That's kinda what happened with the dragon, but there wasn't any gums stuff.”

“Yeah.” Your brother says in that tone that denotes he just figured something out, “The old man was the same way. He was just teeth when I found him.” He pauses, “And you said the dragon turned into teeth?”

“Yeah!” You explain, “Like, right before my eyes. All these teeth started growing out of him and then he was kinda ALL teeth.”

“And no gums?”

“No. Nothing I could see, anyways.

“So, I think what happened was the old man and the dragon weren't killed by outside forces, unlike the BRO. So the gums make the teeth or something like that?”

“Okay,” You follow along, “So what does that mean?”

“I... don't know!”

You groan. “That's not very helpful.”

“Hey, it's like a mystery. I can't solve it before I have all the clues!”
>>
>>33767162
You sigh. “Okay.” You stare up at the canopy so thick you can't see the night sky. “I think... I think I need to get some sleep.”

“Huh? Oh yeah, it's late isn't it?”

“I don't see how it's not late where you are yet.”

“Oh, I was awake all night yesterday, killing... time. You know. Just handing out.”

“Huh. Okay, well, good night.” You say, reaching your mental cursor over the end call button.

“Night.”

CLICK.

You close your eyes, too tired to set up your tent, and fall to sleep.

The next day you rise, walk, fight some monsters, walks some more, and go back to sleep.

The second day is exactly the same.

The third day is very much the same until you found a wandering NPC.

There you are, minding your own buisness, when you notice some Gaia Wolves hounding a poor, defenseless level 9 commoner and a young level 1 noble!

This will not stand, not when you're around! This is the job of a god damn tank!

You leap from the bushes, and with one mighty punch you take out one wolf, with a swift kick you take out another, and with a snap of the neck you take out the last one. It was just like those kung-fu movies you made up in your head, starting yourself, but this time it was real. Damn you were bad ass.

“Stay back!” Barks the woman.

You look over the woman. Pretty plain looking, overall, but she had a certain humble charm. 9 Commoner, 14 Barmaid. What the hell was she doing all the way out here? You looked up to her name plate. Aideen.

The other was a young boy in his blue striped pajamas. He had golden blonde hair and couldn't be older than 10. Above his head was Prince Aubron XXIII. Was he king Aubron's son? You didn't even know he had a son. Then again, with all the crazy shit that happens on his quests, who the hell knows what he does and doesn't have.
>>
>>33767172
“So,” You say, “Aideen, any reason you're out her in death-kill-rape land? Because if I were you I'd try to find some place to be that wasn't death-kill-rape land.” You take a step towards her.

“I said stay back!” She responds.

You hold up your hands and take a step back. “Woah there! I'm only here to help. I'm a tank. It's my responsibility to make sure squishies like you are safe.”

She remains silent.

“So, uhhh...” You try to think of how to phrase this, “What're you two doing so far away from Castle Sunset?” It wasn't a huge leap to assume that's where they came from.

The little Aubron speaks, “Our castle was taken by Adventurers!”

“What!?” You respond, “Why would anyone do that!? He had the best quests ever! They were a perfect example of post-modernism in gaming!” You weren't quite sure that really meant, but you heard King say it a lot in regard to his quests.

The two don't seem to be put at ease by your proclamation. They continue to stare at you, as if expecting you to leave. You can't leave them though, can you? They're level 9 and 1! This place will eat them up and spit them out! They'll die!

What's more important is that they need to see that not all Adventurers are bloodthirsty monsters.

“I'll escort you!” You announce, “As a tank I can't let squishies like you walk around without an escort! It goes against my nature!”

“You'll only get in the way.” Aideen responds.

You scoff, “I'm sorry, but at this point I'm your best chance of survival. Trust me. As long as I am here neither of you will take a single point of damage. That's the power of a tank.” You give them a thumbs up for reassurance.

“We're going to The 13 Kingdoms. Unless you intend to escort us all the way there, you're just going to be trouble.”

She's asking you to go and undo all the progress you just made, but keeping them alive is more important, right? Right!

“Fine then. Off the the 13 Kingdoms we go!”

Thanks for reading.

Wait, seriously? We just get derailed from our quest without even a chance to interact or do anything? Fucking wonderful. Plot twist was cool though, can't wait to see where you're going with this.
>>
>>33767190
>this bitch
Alright so we are gonna kill her right?
>>
>>33767212
>finally getting the bros back together
>shep slams the railroad of the century into our asses
you too
>>
>>33767236
she's just protecting her prince, and she did seem legitimately sad to leave canis behind. I want to give her the chance to reunite with drummer bro
>>
>>33767232
People were going to sleep, so just ending it here with him choosing the most in-character option seemed like a good idea. If you prefer I can give you the choice instead.
>>
>>33767259
Is running the cunt through an option?
>>
>>33767281
Did you forget what happened when we swung at the king? I really don't think things would go well for Vertigo.
>>
>>33767255
You and I both know she would have backstabbed canis the second we rolled into the castle to get dwarfu back
>>
>>33767259
I feel like he would not be swayed from his brother that easily, but you know the character better than I do I suppose. Can we at least try to convince her to go with us for shelter instead?
>>
>>33767281
The options were going to be...
[ ] “Fine then. Off the the 13 Kingdoms we go!” Escort her back to the East Coast.
[ ] "If you really think you have this, so be it." Leave her.
[ ] Other.
>>
>>33767297
I realy don't think so, backstabbed us maybe, paralyzed canis maybe, but I don't think she would have killed him
>>
>>33767314
>[ ] “Fine then. Off the the 13 Kingdoms we go!” Escort her back to the East Coast.
>>
>>33767314
>Other
You're in no shape to survive on your own in the wilderness like this. Follow me to safety and adventure!
>>
>>33767249
Ambrosis and the gang are going after Aideen anyway, so we're still going to be meeting with Vertigo. This way is just slightly more interesting.

>>33767314
[x] “Fine then. Off the the 13 Kingdoms we go!” Escort her back to the East Coast.

ambrosis said dont touch anything...

>and then he orders her to kill the lot of us

>>33767331
Yeah, but Vertigo doesn't know that. If he thinks he has to choose between us and the Landers he just met, I like to think he would pick us.
>>
>>33767314
pick them both up and bring them with us! that way we can keep them safe and get to our brother!

remember guys, dumb decisions are our #1 asset as vertigo

Vertigo wants to be a hero more then I want to have sex

We told bro we were coming to him, also fucking teeth dragons will probably get us if we leave

>I feel like he would not be swayed from his brother that easily
It's not that he's being swayed away from, it's the idea of what is more time sensitive right now?

He might miss his brother for another week or so, sure.

If these two die, they're gone for good. And they will die because they're a level 9 and a level 1 walking into a level 50 area.

At least that's how I see it.
>>
>>33767393
Fair enough. Looks like escort mission is a go!
>>
>>33767314

Call up bro and ask him if its cool to escort them, remember to name them
>>
>>33767421
too meta-gamey

>>33767393
When you put it that way...

I mean, he didn't ACTUALLY start the fire, so it makes sense that he wouldn't take the "don't touch anything" to heart.

It DOES make sense to call him and mention a...detour.

I haven't explicitly voted yet, so I'll go with picking them both up and jogging at a leisurely pace to bro.
>>
>>33767549
If bring them with us is an option take it, if not fuck off towards best bro
>>
>>33767364

Voting for this.

>>
>>33767627
“Well, I can't keep you safe and get to my brother at the same time...” You then say, “Or can I?”

The two of them stare at you with concerned looks.

You scoop them up in your arms. “There! Now we're-”

“Unhand us at once!” The young Aubron shouts.

“Not till we get to my brother! He'll know what t-” A sharp pain.

You look down.

There is a blade sticking out of your chest.

It is pulled out in a sensation that is all too real and all too unnerving.

You look behind you. The barmaid has transformed into some kind of red ninja decked out in leather and a rapier. “Put him down.” Is all she says.

Above her head is enemyIDs.NAw.raidBosses.AideenUmbra.getName(). She's the canceled Aubron raid boss! You're not quite sure how to feel about this. Random mobs probably won't be able to kill her, but if she gets too close to any of the new raid areas, raid boss or not, she's only level 60. A pack of 90 mobs could probably still take her down. Hell, you could probably solo her.

“Put him down! Now!” She commands again.

You put down the young prince and back off.

AubronXXIII rushes off to his guardian's side. The Umbra speaks, “You won't follow us. You won't tell anyone you say us. Understand?”

She's not going to let you do anything for her at this point. You've fucked up. If they die it will be on your head. You have to do something!
>>
>>33768076
“Okay.” You say, “But promise me you don't go anywhere that's not the Frontier or a main road. I don't know how long you've been hiding underneath Castle Sunset, but there are a whole lot of creatures stronger than you out there and they can kill you a lot faster than I can kill you. And that's the other thing.” You motion to the East. “Anyone out there finds out you're a super rare raid boss that no one's fought before, they aren't going to see you as a Lander, they're going to see you as a loot table.”

“Are you done yet?” The raid boss asks.

You give her an are-you-fucking-serious face and then state, “Yes. I'm done.”

She and the boy turn and leave.

You stand around for a while. You hope they'll make it to their destination unharmed. Part of you knows if they don't it's not your fault, but you also know, on some level, it is.

You turn and begin walking towards the West once again.

Be careful that you don't get too burned out, I'm perfectly okay with one run a week if it keeps you sane.

Kinda surprised he didn't mention the dragon bursting into teeth just to illustrate how weird shit is atm.
>>
>>33769624
She's (presumably) the captain of the Umbra, I'm sure that's business as usual compared to most of the shit that went on back at that castle.
>>
>>33769691
Dragons are set at raid boss tier for level 90 automatically apparently. Something like that actually happening instead of being Fae LSD is so far beyond her that she might at least take notice.
too late now of course.
Of course we dont know the feats attributed to him so for all we know he had some sick just hatched baby dragon brought out and defeated by his forces to show their greatness. If that happened Aideen might think that she fought a totally for real one once.
>>
>>33767364
I am for this.

Tell her we are going to the nearest town to refuel before the big journey. Lecture them on the importance of being prepared. Dwarf carry them both.

nice job anon

I feel really slow for just now noticing Shepherd uses an inverted OP image for Vertigo threads.
>>
>>33771216
It's okay. I've only been able to use it twice, so you've noticed it as quickly as you could have.

>>33764474

>>
>>33774365
>he is the opposite of us
>we are gonna have to fight our bro
>bro is gonna perma die
