>Day 5, Mid-Afternoon

Heading out of school, I see Rin and Luvia arguing as they head towards Shinto. For being rivals, they seem fairly buddy-buddy....

I hear feet running behind me, and a glance over my shoulder shows Ayako running towards me from the archery range, expression a mixture of awe, anger, and hope, Sakura not far behind.

Looking forwards again, I can catch sight of Ayaka, kendo bag slung over her shoulder, walking in the direction of a park I'm familiar with....

>Ayako and Sakura

I sigh, turning around as the two girls catch up.

"Hey Ayako, Sakura." I say, giving them a wave. "Is something wrong?"

... Ayako glares at me as she catches her breath, while Sakura arrives with no apparent tiredness.

"You... You're rejoining archery." Ayako says, pointing at me. "I'll go to Issei, or even your mother if I have to."

I blink.

"Just because I borrowed equipment without asking you directly?" I ask, getting an annoyed stare from her,

"No! Because you borrowed equipment, and then did something even more absurd than you used to!" She says, pointing back at the range. "You're going to be here tomorrow morning, or I'm going to ask Issei to stop you from helping out!"

Before I have a chance to respond, she's storming back towards the archery dojo, leaving me alone with Sakura.

"Um... I'm sorry about that." She says, shaking her head. "I thought that she'd be happy to know you'd come back, at least during lunch..."

I shrug.

"She's like that." I say, glancing back over my shoulder.

Damn. Both Rin and Luvia's argument, and Ayaka are out of sight by now. I can probably guess where they went, though.

"Anyway, I guess I can stop by tomorrow." I rub the back of my head, before muttering. "I hope she doesn't try and rope me into it full time, though..."

Sakura nods, seemingly pleased by this outcome.

"Thank you. I'll see if I can convince her to not drag you into it all the time, too." She smiles, and I nod in acknowledgement before she turns and heads back towards Ayako.

I'm left standing alone in the courtyard, as other students slowly filter out the gates.

>Go find where Rin and Luvia went

I sigh, heading towards Shinto myself.

Rin is, at least, a known mage. And if she and Luvia don't gt along, that much... There's a good chance Luvia is one, too.

Heading down the road, I look for signs of the two fighting, or any disturbances close enough.

Soon enough, I catch up with the sound of them arguing.

"-t's why, you insufferable Norwegian!" I can hear Rin practically screeching.

...Something about Luvia seems to set her off, cracking through the normally cool demeanor of the honor student easily.

"And that shows how much of a low-bred woman you are!" Luvia's voice answers back, in a cackle. "You cannot even tell the Scandinavian people apart!"

There's a laugh that sends terror down my spine.

...

They appear to be slightly off the beaten track, making their way towards something on this side of the bridge.

I sigh, stepping forwards.

"Uh, excuse me?" I say, catching their attention.

Their expressions and posture immediately change as they see me- both shift to a... Sweet expression, and I can hear mental gears shifting.

"Emiya, what a surprise to see you here!" Rin says in an overly cheerful tone. "I was just showing L- Edelfelt, here, around the town."

Luvia seems to catch on, and nods, smiling charmingly at me.

"Yes, Tohsaka has offered to give me a tour of her hometown." She says, and I can see her eyes glint. "I must say, it's certainly far nicer than I expected."

"Ah, alright." I shrug. They're both being horribly fake, and even now seem to be sniping at one another. "I was heading over to Shinto to pick up a few things, and I heard someone yelling, so I thought I'd check on it."

They share a glance that turns into a glare, and I sigh.

"Well, if there was nothing going on, I suppose I should move on..." I trail off, starting to turn around.

"Ah, Emiya!" Rin says, and I hear a shift of positioning from both. "Would you join us? I'm afraid I haven't been in town much recently, and don't know many of the sights by heart now..."

"Sure." I say, and the presence of the two lightens considerably. "Where to, first?"

Rin seems to be thinking for a moment, but Luvia speaks up.

"Ah, the bridge, Shirou." She says, wistful look in her eye. "All bridges are the friends of maidens such as myself~"

...I have nothing I can quite say, so I nod, leading the two up and across the bridge, stopping mid-way to enjoy the view of the sea.

After about an hour of showing places in Shinto, walking, and generally making small talk, we eventually wind up near a cafe, and I hear a familiar and unpleasant voice-

"Hey, Shirou!" Shinji Matou says from a table, eyes moving over both Rin and Luvia as he waves to catch my attention. "Finally taking my advice, huh?"

A glance to the two shows they have similar expressions of disgust. Seems their opinions of him are poor, as well.

"Sorry, Shinji." I say, shaking my head. "No time to stop and chat, I'm giving the new exchange student a tour."

His eye twitches, but before he can stand up, his date walks out of the restaurant, =distracting him as the three of us slip away.

I try and figure a place to go, aside from back to Miyama, and I come up-

...No. There's the mall that opened a couple of months ago.

I relay it to the girls, and from the frightening gleams in their eyes, I know I'm... Doomed.

After another couple of hours, I'm stumbling along as the assorted bags and boxes I'm carrying for Luvia teeter, blocking my vision.

Rin has a much smaller number of bags, which she's carrying alone.

From the conversations they've been having when they forget I'm there... Evidently, the 'Marshal' at their previous school sent them here to collect a set of... Something. Or find.

I hear the sound of an engine, and the two come to a stop ahead of me, and manage to stop myself too.

"Well, Shirou, thank you for the assistance, and the lovely trip." Luvia says, and I can 'sense' someone approaching, and the weight of most bags being lifted. "We should most certainly do this again."

I see a well dress older man with the weights, carefully placing them in the backseat of the limousine that stopped beside us.

He gives me a nod as he takes the rest of my burdens and stows them away.

"Lady Edelfelt, I believe it is time we return to your hotel." He says, bowing to Luvia.

(1/2)
>>
>>33785595

Luvia nods, climbing into the open door of the limo and sitting down facing out.

"Rin, dear, would you care to join me? I believe we have something to talk about, away from," She seems to be mulling over wording, before nodding to herself. "Other ears?"

...There's a few seconds of silence, before Rin sighs.

"Fine. Let's get this over with..." She says, moving to join Luvia in the car, before pausing.

"Emiya, thank you for showing us around the town. It was enjoyable, and I'm sorry you were a victim of poor Luvia's impulsive purchasing." She says, in her sweet tone. "I'll see you at school tomorrow."

I shrug.

"Not a problem. I'll go pick up that thing I mentioned, and will just head on home, myself." I say, giving a wave and starting towards the supermarket as the car pulls away.

...

A brief bit of shopping later, and I'm walking towards the bridge as the sun sets, bag of groceries in hand...

Focusing on my surroundings, I hear only a few cars going across, and further ahead on the pedestrian walkway, a girl in a high-school uniform, leaning on the rail and looking out over the water.

Shaking my head, but remaining on guard, I continue forwards.

As I near her, it seems that this is the girl who had been with Shinji earlier...

She turns to look at me as I get closer, smiling.

Serious Archer wins if he casts UBW immediately, then goes all out with sword bombardment and has a strong source of prana.

If Gil fires off Ea immediately, then he beats Archer (unless he has access to Avalon or can Trace Fragarach).

Gil isn't all that strong. He just has sword spam and Ea. Shirou/Archer can counter the former with UBW and the latter with Avalon (but only if they still have access to the image of the sheath).
>>
>>33797944

>"...I wouldn't say 'friend', but..."

I mean, come on, we know he's a cunt but he's not *that* bad.

Sometimes.

Look okay I know he's a fagdick but if anyone has half a shot of getting through to him, it's probably us.
>>
>>33798412

Wait, are you serious? As in, Arc from Tsukihime? The one that fights with Ciel, the best person the Church has to spare, armed with one of their strongest weapons? The top member of the same organization Kotomine dropped out of?

The same Kotomine that completely ruined Assassin, who is still very much a Servant and supposed to be on a different power scale?

The weakest fighters in Tsukihime are leagues above Fate/Stay.
>>
>>33798897
Oh no, Gil is ridiculously strong.
His armour is strong enough to take repeated hits from invisible air for around a minute without damage, his treasury is not limited to things conceptually related to swords (so he could pull out some rings/necklaces of protection to fend off Archer's bombardment), Ea would destroy UBW and let's not forget that his stats as Archer are shit-tier compared to what they would be without such limitations.
Hell, he would have beat Avalon-Saber if he hadn't spammed Ea like a moron and had instead kited her with low-prana attacks, Avalon isn't cheap to use after all.
>>
>>33798994
Not according to Nasu.
In fact, according to Nasu, Ciel isn't a match for any Servant, she could only fight defensively against one.
>>
>>33799087

Because Nasu's known to backtrack and pander to the fandom, he has to in order to keep selling his shit so he can keep making it. If we look at the actual source material, I.E. the games, it's pretty clear what the power levels were meant to be when he wrote them.
>>
>>33798994
>The weakest fighters in Tsukihime are leagues above Fate/Stay.
Troll harder, anon. Maybe try breaking out "Shiki can kill Servants"? That's an old 'un and a good 'un.

The serious Gil vs serious Arc fight would be an interesting one, given we've never seen either on-screen and have to extrapolate from their known capabilities and past achievements. I'd personally lean toward Srsarc, but who knows? Srsgil personally murdered the fuck out of every monster and avatar Gaia had to throw at him, back in the day. Can't think the Moon would do much better.

I'd definitely hand it to Arc if Gil's constrained by the Servant vessel and an external prana supply... but then, surely that means we need to weaken /her/ by applying her modern-day constraints vis-a-vis tainted blood etc? All limits off, I wouldn't want to call it.
>>

I shrug.

"His personality and actions make it hard for me to keep justifying it to myself." I finish. "If anyone has a chance of getting through to him, it's probably me."

...The girl narrows her eyes, and nods.

"Well, you certainly see better than he was, at least." She says. "I had heard he came from an old family, but he lacked the quality that I was led to expect."

...Huh?

Evidently seeing my expression, she smiles and continues.

"Well, anyway, I'm Megumi Yamaguchi." She says, gesturing to herself. "Sixteen years old, I'm interested in physics and healthy boys, and my sizes are..."

"Private." She winks.

Out of the corner of my eye, see what appears to be the leg of someone in the same uniform I'm wearing, dangling from a cross-beam.

My mental gears shift with a clunk.

"...Where's Shinji?" I ask, and the girl just smiles.

"...You're more perceptive than you let on, huh?" She says, before I feel a huge 'tug' on my back

I brace my feet as prana flows through my body, and the pressure lessen.

Megumi, however, 'falls' backwards, skidding to a stop further away from me, letting out a whistle.

"Wow!" She says, obviously happy. "You ARE a cut above him, aren't you?"

I glance back to the side, and confirm there's a leg there, unmoving.

Shaking my head, I look straight at the girl.

"So, what are you? Related to the guy with dogs and the one with chains?" I ask, getting a happy nod.

"Yep! They're kinda unsubtle, and are licking their wounds anyway." Megumi says. "So I figured I'd get some life force my own way."

"But don't worry about that piece of trash." She continues, shaking her head. "He wasn't even worth draining, so I hung him out to dry."

I sigh, drawing the Class Card as I shift to a defensive posture.

Megumi's expression turns to one of shock, and I draw and shoot in a second.

She's already moving even as Hrunting leaves the string, 'flying' in a manner more comparable to selective falling.

It doesn't help as the black sword pursues her, altering its course as she does, even despite the expected abuses of her power.

There's a loud shriek of pain, and I see the makeshift arrow 'shatter' on the other side of her.

Her body begins to fall, but the world retains its grayscale tone...

>Project and shoot
>Project! 10 v DC 12
My prana's draining,I realize as I manage to form a warped looking arrow-dagger instead of the weapon I want, truly.

Lining up the shot, I flinch as the cloud of dust from that last stunt finally rises enough to hit my eyes, and-

>Shoot! 1 v DC 14

By the time the arrow passes through the space Megumi occupied, she and the shade forming behind her are already too close for me to fire again.

With such a better look, I see that she's nowhere near conscious- whatever this thing is that's puppetting her must have taken full control of her body.

It swings its claws at me as she hangs limply in the air, and I know getting hit by this would be... Disastrous.

Rolled 68

>Dodge, 20!

I step backwards, shadowy claw slashing through the air barely in front of me.

My arm thrusts forwards, and I form the outline of the sword as I do so, filling in from the hilt to the tip with what reserves of prana I have left.

>Project, 20!

The dagger is the same jagged shape as last time, yet... Stronger in terms of 'weight'.

The moment it cuts Megumi's arm, the shade howls monstrously, as pitch black shadows begin to pour out of her wound. Within moments, they evaporate, and the sky begins to crack.

...

With a shattering noise, I find myself standing back where I was when this fight started, an injured and half-dead girl stumbling forwards into a catch.

The bridge is intact, and looking off to the side, I can see Shinji's legs right where they were last time I saw them.

...This is going to be a mess to deal with, isn't it?...

And calling it for the thread/night. I'll see you folks around, probably Sunday or Monday with a new thread.
