4e? Because the fluff of old Bael Turoth was awesome and idea of a whole race forced to wear the mantle of the former glory in full view is pretty damn nifty.
It also opens up loads of stuff for interacting with other races, primarily Dragonborn, so as to explore different cultures' way of reacting to such a history. And there is the added bonus of the odd dungeon or ruin welcoming a Tiefling PC into itself as it thinks it's old master has returned.
Plus, amazing race support is sweet too. Gotta love the Crimson Legion stuff.

PF?
While often used by edgemasters, I love PF Tieflings because I'm a sucker for the 'good person against all odds' trope. I love characters who prove to be genuine heroes and paragons of goodness despite the urges or tendencies their bloodline throw at them (even better if they don't actually deny then, just use them for good).
Plus, I love the idea that there are demons/devils/daemons out there that would be willing to sire a half-fiend spawn, just to ruin a family's life some 10 generations down the line when the perfectly normal parents find themselves birthing a fiend-tainted infant.

Well, in most d&d, Tieflings are a sub-race born when fiendish traits emerge in people.
This usually happens many generations after the fiendish blood entered, with several prior generations being normal.
They also sometimes emerge as mutations from infants exposed to fiendish energy from portals and such.

4e Tieflings are basically marked humans from an old dead empire (or some other deal with unpleasant powers in other settings, like Dark Sun.)

Who ever thought up 4e tieflings should be fired. Tieflings purely existed to fill the niche of misc humanoids that have been touched by evil in misc ways. It was basically a way to easily let you make an evil character without being game breaking and open enough so that almost any sort of backstory could work for how they are evil. People are pissed at 4e not for creating a race, but from depriving them of that malleable tool to smooth the road from concept to character.

It would explain why they hated each other so much back in the day, and now have a rather bro-ish relationship now.

Not really. Tieflings started out as humans, then made deals with all the archfiends, not only Asmodeus. That explains why you have the Baalzebul line which curdles milk where they pass, or the Levistus line which is more frost-focused.

Dragonborn were made by Io to serve dragons as their servants.

Knowing nothing about 4e lore, I don't find your suggestion to be undesirable.

Oh, but the Warforged has to wind up injured for a bit, so the chief sticks the Tief with a new partner for a while, a partner that has to deal with reeling the Tief in while the Tief is out for revenge on behalf of the one guy on the force who would vouch for him.

Yep. But mostly because he never understands what the meatbags want.

>>33801002
Nah, the Dragonborn is the rival cop. You know, the guy with the shinning badge, the guy with the perfect record, the pride of the precinct. The chief is an ancient pair of adventurers (one wise human paladin who's putting his neck out for the tiefling because he sees good in everyone, and one dwarf fighter who only has his job left).

The Dragonborn and Tiefling eventually become friendly rivals, but at first they hate each others guts.

>Crazy wizard who steals mostly to fund his experiments. Starts as a comedic relief, but reveals his tragic backstory. Warforged guy holds him in high regard.
>Human cleric of Asmodeus. Incredibly rich, powerful, and manipulating. Interested in acquiring the tief cop to serve Asmodeus as his ancestors did.
>Team of corrupt cops - one Half-Orc and one Half-Elf. One serves as muscle, the other as the face. Not so much villains as corrupt dickheads.

>>33801897
Are we setting them in Sigil? If so, they're most likely located in the Hive, where there's a dozen gangs fighting for survival. If someone sees one of them dealing with the Law (especially if that Law brings in Mercykillers), you can bet they'd be under attack soon. Basically, they avoid him because he'll only bring them trouble, and they're nowhere as big as the other gangs who can deal with that kind of heat.

He's sorta trying to convince them to give up robbing the clueless who walk in from the portal and maybe join the Dustmen or do something else that's not putting his surrogate family at risk. Could serve as a potential plot hook when the Cleric of Asmodeus who runs the smithies and metalworking facilities in the Lower Sigil (where there be devils and demons) offers them a safe haven and a job in exchange for some favors.
>>

>>
>>33802695
Personally, I allow them, but then my group (other than 1 guy, and he doesn't really like Aasimar) are not very good at optimisation, so....
>>
>>33802298
The Cleric of Asmodeus and the Aasimar Merchant are in cahoots, but are constantly trying to outsmart each other. Both are earning insane amounts of money from selling information, weapons and favors to whoever is willing to pay the price.

We could have a connection between the old wizard and the police chiefs. Maybe they were an adventuring party once, and the wizard (lich?) lost his family and has snapped in the process. The paladin and the fighter followed him to Sigil in order to make sure he doesn't do too much damage, and because of the few lucid moments he has when he's not acting like a Saturday morning cartoon villain.
>>
>>33802695
They are one of the best, but some races are still on par (especially if you have build ideas). I think Tieflings, Dwarves and Humans are easily on par, Half-Orcs are also pretty close.

The only think to come close to good tieflings recently are the Pathfinder ones, and their extended rules and geneation. Tielfings don't appear homogenous, they're not a species or race, it's more a mutation. Same with Aasimar which they took a page from the Tieflings and made into something more than pretty angelic people. Aasimar and Tieflings should both be strange, alien, and unsettling.

There are many things I could say to you, but I think this one works the best:

You will never get the chance.

The Harmonium is Sigil's police force, whether the others like it or not.

They could collaborate with the Mercykillers and the Guvners on dealing with the matters of crime, law and such.

Her evil sister is hotter.

So would the Stiffs and Prongs crew be more a detective group within the Harmonium. Carry the badge, but not the uniform deal?
>>
So what we have here is people who want one official tiefling across the settings without any deviations
>>
>>33804457
Could work. I really can't remember whether the Harmonium had any rules against undercover activity, but hey, they need they spy network, right?

Especially with those Anarchists and Xaositects running around.

>and they are the definitive tiefling.

That's a lovely opinion you've got there.
>>
>>33804411
That's how evil sisters are.
>>
>>33804771

They're the ones that started it all, so yeah, they are.

In this case? Yes.

>>The executioner. Nobody knows who he is, where he came from, or what he wants. He's a giant dude in a suit of armor that just wants to kill "law-breakers" at will.
>>33803407
>Mercykillers are bro-tier.
Anons, not just a giant dude IN a suit of armor. He IS the suit of armor. And his recurring theme informs viewers that shit is getting real.
>>
>>33804409
Technically, Mercykillers were also working as sort of SWAT force - they were going on any criminals that were way too dangerous for Harmonium too handle.

I will never fill out my tiefling character art folder, will I?

OK, out of images already, so I'll leave this Aasimar. Of the good kind, obviously. The only right one.

This is the best place to ask this: how do I make 4e Tiefling in Pathfinder?! Thankyouz!
>>
>>33806982
Given that this page is almost dead (I posted the last bunch of images and added two latest comments on the cop show) and that I am completely unfamiliar with 4e and their Tieflings (except of looks, obviously), I don't think this is the best place.

Also: I do not entirely understand what you are asking for.
>>

I wanted to use them for my PF campaign, background story about the empire and all.
>>
>>33807134
I think it would be easier to look for any wikia information on them.

Anyway, I am retiring my watch. It's 4 am here.
>>
I like the concept of tieflings, but I've hated every single take on them from a mechanical standpoint.

Haven't read the books its based on, but the trailer makes him look like he unknowingly has some sort of devilish influence/blood within him that's starting to come out, and he's slowly corrupting the people around him.

That might be WAY off. Like I said, basing off of what the trailer looks like.
