You are Zhu Xing, from the city of Xu Chang. Having reunited with Lu Bu, you have been given the title of Inspector and given command of the city of Wu and a fourth of Lu Bu's army. Confessing to Lingqi, you have both become closer and more intimate. Character Profile: http://pastebin.com/UTDjnUuXPast threads: http://archive.foolz.us/tg/search/subject/three%20kingdoms%20quest/
>>33923041HERE WE GO
>>33923041Second for Lingqi
>>33923041Lu Lingqi smut when?
The best time of the week has come.
The city of Wu is average and unremarkable. The walls and gates of the city are moderately strong, likely able to hold off any future barbarian attacks but not a full on scale siege if you ever choose to defend the city. Wu is defended by the Chang Jian river and the Yellow Sea, so it may be easier to defend, though also presenting passages for enemy attacks via water routes. The markets are semi-active with some trades inbetween, while the farmlands are in need of some development. You have 3000 gold in the treasury, and are expected to receive 500 through taxes every three months. You have 4000 units of food, and are expected to gain an additional 500 through harvests every three months. The city of Wu commands 5000 troops, who are still green and inexperienced, and only have a 1000 horses along with their basic spear, armor, bows, and ladder equipment. With Wu only recently have been conquered, support for Lu Bu's force and yourself in the city is merely average. There are still some criminals and lowly former bandits/Shanyue that make occasional trouble at the city.It seems there is much to do if you want to improve Wu. Chen Gong has requested for you to maintain a strong army for future battles and campaigns. What do you for the upcoming three months? >please write in on actions, you may divide work however much you wish. Please try to keep the various actions minimal and not too detailed
>>33923087Whenever someone gets up off their ass to describe swagxing fingering her.
>>33923107Revenue will increase as markets and farms are developed correct?
>>33923107Actions still on a one per month basis? Then:Search for talented peopleVisit lingqiImprove defences
>>33923107Alright, we should have Song Xian and Gao Shun mobilise against the rebels and bandits. We also need to have a look around for new talent. BECAUSE FUCKING LU MENG AND LU SU.Any replies from Sun Ce?
>>33923107>Visit Lu Lingqi>Train Soldiers>Develop Farmland
>>33923107How does the gallery road look? if its in bad nick repair that shit>Visit lingqi>train recruits>Develop farmland
>>33923107For military we want to concentrate on recruiting and training over equipping. Training should include fighting on ships so we can better defend on these rivers. For domestics concentrate on farmland and dealing with bandits, and building supportFor ourself we want to search for more officers and visit Linqui when we have time.
>>33923107>Search for talent people>Search for talented people>Visit Lingqi
Rolled 54>>33923107improve defenseimprove order or security or whatever the fuck you call itsearch for talented people
>>33923107I think there was a good consensus on what general was doing what last thread correct? The indecision was on what we were going to do.
>>33923107Train troopsReinforce defensesI want to say that building up a navy will be pretty important since we're near water ways
>>33923107>develop markets>Visit Lingqi>have her drill the troops alongside us
>>33923107As per last thread, the generals and civil officers will still be working on their activities and will help with the development of the city right?Does the stat requirement for the activities: >>>Train a stat (choose)>>>Visit an officer (choose, people outside your city and within your own force is fine, Cha/Pol)>>>Search for a talented officer (Cha/Pol)>>>Build defenses ( Int)>>>Raise safety (War)>>>Raise support (Cha/Pol)>>>Improve Markets (Pol)>>>Improve Farmlands (Pol)>>>Recruit troops (Cha)>>>Train troops (Lea)>>>Gather intelligence on enemy (Choose what type of information you are seeking and on who, Int)>>>(Write-in action, though try to refrain from doing this too much)Still count?
>>33923107My idea is simple. We purchase some warships get Gan Ning and another of our of generals to do a sort of active training for men, having them take shifts patrolling the water way. Both to train them in naval combat, and to hopefully keep trouble out of the rivers where our fishermen and trade ships cross.Other than that, admins work on getting the markets and farms pumping with Cai Yan drumming support. She likely has a better chance due to her past and how Lu Bu and ourselves helped.Linqui and ourselves can secure things inside the walls and police.
>>33923192>>33923197Gold > FarmlandDevelop the fucking Markets
>>33923107Clarification on >>please write in on actions, you may divide work however much you wish. Please try to keep the various actions minimal and not too detailedBy this, it's just Zhu Xing's actions as per end of last thread, correct? The administrators and generals will work on improving civil matters and military on their own end?
>>33923107>Raise safety (War)>Search for a talented officer (Cha/Pol)>Build defenses (Int)
>>33923240>>33923197>>33923184Our farms are sustainable for our troops. 500 consumed, 500 gained, so it's not of immediate concern. Our markets are not sustainable. We are running a deficit of 350 every 3 months. Focus on markets first.
Pol is our dump stat guys.If we're still working off the last thread's stat usage, we should never touch anything requiring Pol only.Leave that to the civil officers.
>>33923107Have our administrators focus on improving our infrastructure. Our military officers should focus on traing troops and rooting out troublesome elements. We should focus on trying to improve support and recruiting troops. Maybe help the people out directly like we did under Dong Zhuo.
>>33923256I imagine that if we see something that needs to be done, we can spend a turn visiting one of our guys, put him on the job and raise relationships
>>33923107Recruit troopsTrain troops and if possible have take action against the bandits to get them some real combat experience
More officers > More Troops > More Markets > Training troops > Equipping troops > More farmland > Etc
>>33923293With the exception of >Search for talented officerWe really need to be doing that ourselves, and the sooner we do it, the better.
>>33923315Search is Pol/Cha so its not so bad.Hence also why I suggested:>>33923155Which was the suggested and mostly agreed actions for Zhu Xing last thread.
>>33923107Maybe we should go easy on recruiting troops for now. They cost money and food.Right now, our troops cost 500/500 gold/food every 3 months, the same amount we are producing.Training our new troops and improving domestic infrastructure should be higher priorities.
>>33923107>>Raise support (Cha/Pol)New city let us get to know the people. >Visit LingqiFor kicks and mainly to hang out.>Raise safety (War)Because we got this. The rest of the officers work to improve the markets and farmlands. The more leader ship based people work to train the troops.
>>33923379We really need to find new officers dude, it means we can accomplish SO MUCH MORE. Not to mention we have a wealth of Wu talent in front of us
I come from another board kingdom to lend my support to the linqi faction
>>33923474no thanks, I'm not that much of a waifu fag
Forget the mechanical crap from last thread people. It has been dropped and removed, for a more generalized and flexible system. All you need to do is say what you want to focus on the city for now. It is Fall of 196. All other officers are doing regular work. Civil guys doing paperwork, overseeing general development, etc. Generals patrolling, training troops, etc. Most of the development of city comes on your part. Focusing on one action than doing multiple things will result in better outcomes and improvements.Don't make this more complicated than it needs to be.Right now, searching for talent seems to be a wanted and taken action. What other actions do you wish to do? Unless there are objections, we will generally try to pass the turns by three months.
>>33923504Search for talent, visit Lingqi, and invite her to beat up some bandits
>>33923504Are we still 1 action per month or we'll be spliting our time if we choose further actions?
>>33923504insure the security of the city, start focuses on getting more hands on deck like other anons suggested, improve relations with the city folk
>>33923504lingqi and public safety
>>33923504Visiting Linqi. And Improving safety/support with her.
>>33923530This.Actually, fuck, why don't we go and do everything with Lingqi?
>>33923504If we'll be splitting our time, just search for talent.
>>33923564because we have other officers we need to bromance and marry our clan members off to
>>33923402We don't have the money for it and we got great officer already. Remember our cost are 850 and we receive 500.
>>33923530>and invite her to beat up some banditstiger hunting anon, tiger hunting.
>>33923504Search for talent, increase security (possibly alongside lingqi) and improve popular support for now.
>searching for talent>killing bandits and raising safety with LingqiRoll 1d100 for searching for talent. Three rolls.
Rolled 52>>33923614LU SUUUUU
>>33923540Agreed, though we should train our troops instead of recruit for now. We should also purchase 5 war ships, 500 good crossbows, 500 spears, and 500 sets of armor. 800 gold there, but we ned to arm our men quickly. We could spend another 200 for a even 1k so that we have 1000 spears and armor total for our calvary.
Rolled 72>>33923629>>33923634Zhu Xing you charismatic bastard
>>33923504As long as somebody is improving markets and food so that we can at least be self sufficient>>33923530 this is fine for me.
>mfw three kingdoms quest 2 days in a row
Rolled 92>>33923661We have plenty of generals who can train troops. What we should be doing ourselves...is training the generals.Lets whip Song Xian into shape while Gao Shun and Gan Ning do the training.
since OP I'm sure is taking a lot of inspiration from the RoTK games now would be a good time to start it up if you want a better idea of how the clan/city building aspect of the game is
>>33923685Zhu Xing: "HEY YOU GUUYYYYS"and suddenly, officers, officers everywhere.
>>33923720Third brother, contain your elation. Get the best wine and meat.
>>33923696That's on us. We need to focus on that next. Then focus on pop support ins military training.
Rolled 81>>33923750Wont we be at a penalty in trying to improve civil stuff? Our efforts might be better served in making sure the military side is ready.
5000 soldiers isn't a lot but how many can the city support?
>>33923809think of how much food supplies we produce and how much the army eats and you can figure it out
>>33923750I agree, >Most of the development of city comes on your part. This seems to say that we personally need to take charge of the market and farms next. Can we use our third action to host a banquet? This would allow our sister meet Gao Shun and Gan Ning and decide who she likes best. We can also have our brother meet Cai Yan and other eligible women. We can have our administrators and generals get closer and spend time with Lingqi.
>>33923809Not much until we improve the farmland. We're just barely covering the food consumption.
Rolled 82>>33923809I think getting to 15k should be good. That was the size of the force Sun Ce brought against us.Unless Chen Gong gave us some targets to hit.
>>339238095000 Soldiers is an alright amount for a single city.10k-15k is normally the amount one could expect from one of Lu Bu's power
>>33923783The way I understand it unless we do it ourselves there won't be much direct improvement in any of the areas mentioned. If we want the city to be effective we have to manage its improvements wisely. Though we need to get our army formidable within a year or so at a guess.
Rolled 78>>33923849Fair enough.Next turn I suggest we work on only improve farmlands and markets.I don't think we can afford too much time on it, more than one 3 month block. We're supposed to mainly focus on defence rather than development. I guess that means we can request for some food supplies from Hui Ji.
>>33923881We should focus Markets completely for now, then do Farmland later. If this is anything like ROTKXI, gold is a lot better than food
>>33923833so banquet to marry off bro and sis?
>>33923908We are also running a deficit on gold while we are barely sufficient on food. Yeah, we need more gold right now than anything else especially if we recruit new officers.
>>33923833>>33923914We need to marry them off to important people, not no name bums.Seriously, only Gao Shun has any power, we should be marrying them to people of OUR stature, not lower.
Rolled 32>>33923908>>33923936So focus one turn markets next 3 months?Wonder if we can drag other civil officers to help us specifically in the task.Like ask Cai Yan and Zhu Yang to boost our efforts in improving the markets.
Despite most of the Shanyue being crushed by Lu Bu and the area here stabilized, there are still bandits and barbarians on the occasional attacks and run. To stabilize safety and the law, you decide it to be the best to eliminate these trouble. Internal security before external security.Looking through documents, you find out about a man who has recently given himself in to the local authorities and has put himself in prison. Asking the guards about this man, they inform you he was is a fearsome and large warrior. He was a former bandit around these parts, and a few months ago, decided to turn himself in and confess his crimes. Because of his confession, he has been sentenced to five years in prison. Yet... You might find better uses for this man. If he is as ferocious as people say he looks, he may be an asset to your force. At the same time, his former connections may help in dealing with the criminals of the area. You visit the dungeons, torch in hand. It is a dark and murky place, and criminals line up through the bars to beg you for mercy. You ignore the rest of the rabble and come to meet with your designated man. "Sir? Are you... Sure you want to go in alone?" a guard asks when you order him to open the cell."I am fine. If rumors are true, this man will not attack me. If he does, I will give him a swift death."You enter the cell and see a man sitting firm and still, looking over to the other side of the wall. When he hears your footsteps, he only ever looks back slightly, and makes no word.>I want you to help me deal with criminals, in return, for your freedom>I demand to know why you have given yourself up>I have brought you some wine. Let us talk
>>33923947Important people like who? They need to start popping out heirs soon. I'd rather cement our loyalty with capable generals on the rise at this point. On the other hand, the important people might show up at a banquet anyway since we would be inviting all the nobles hopefully. Maybe that's our chance to figure out matches.
>>33923996>I have brought you some wine. Let us talk

>>33923996>I have brought you some wine. Let us talk>Why you have given yourself up?
>>33924058Aren't the Suns basically a no-name entity at this point according to the QM? Which Lius are you thinking of? Qiaos and Gong, sure if we can secure a match. But whatever we choose, we have to do it soon.
Who is bestQiao?
>>33923996share the wine brotha
>>33924122The current leader of the Sun family still has a lot of connections in the south lands. Wu, essentially. Not to mention, descendants of Sun Tzu, link that with the blood of Lu Bu, and you would have an ultimate warrior.Liu Bei will be bordering us after we defeat Yuan Shu, ensuring he will take our side against Cao Cao would be beneficial. However directly marrying to him would not be what I would be looking for.
>>33923996>At the same time, his former connections may help in dealing with the criminals of the area.Maybe we should offer the same deal to these bandits that we offered to the bandits in our previous campaign.Surrender and be pardoned so long as you join our forces. Abide by strict military law and return any ill-gotten possessions. Gao Shun's here as well so he can enforce the law.
>>33924025Hmmm, maybe a bit soft, but we should ask why he gave himself up as well. This seems like an important reason. Maybe he was a loyalist? Maybe he betrayed his lord? Maybe he just didn't want to worship Lu Bu?
>>33924238Hey, can't hurt to ask.
Rolled 54>>33924195That Liu Bei will just betray our asses.
Believing that treating the man well and speaking as warriors might do the job, you sit before him and place the jar of wine you brought on the floor. You bring out two small drinking cups. The man turns around at the gesture."Come. Have a drink with me and talk."The man stays silent, as he takes a glance at your drink and then back to you. As you pour wine on to a cup and hand it to him, he takes it in simple gesture. He looks back at you, and waits for you to drink first before he takes his own drink. Though it is simple and untradtional as a noble, he is giving you every ounce of respect."What is it you wish to talk about?" he asks."To know why you have turned yourself in. Bandits run amok these days and they loot the people when central authority has fallen. You have had plenty opportunities to fleet and continue your doing, yet, you decide to come to prison. Why?"He looks down at the ground for a moment, closing his eyes for a moment before replying."I grew sick of killing innocents," he simply replies. Nothing more than that, no further explication."And your name?""Zhou Tai."He remains silent as you both drink together a few more times. This time, he is the one who speaks up rather than answering your questions."You are a strange man.""Why is that?""You are no fool. You know that I may very well kill you here. Break one of these jars or cups, use it as an edged weapon. Or steal your own sword. >>33924301>A true warrior and man is not afraid of death> I thought you to be honest and of good character despite your past. When times are hard, men will do what they can to live. Instead of running, you took your punishment like a man. Instead of begging, you wait patiently and do not lower yourself. Both are respectable traits. Still, if you wish to be punished, why not redeem yourself and help quell those who still harm the innocent?
>>33924301We got some nice write-ins.>>33924433>>33924556Backing.
>>33923504Just to clarify, isn't it fall of 195 right now? The pastebin has been reading 195 (spring/latespring/summer) through the Sun Ce/Jing adventures and I think you wrote that it was the fall of 195 last thread.
"I thought you to be honest and of good character despite your past," you reply, to which Zhou Tai's brows slightly raise. "You have given yourself up, despite details surrounding you that you may have vested any warrior in combat. You are one who wishes to redeem himself, no?"Zhou Tai makes no reply, closing his eyes once again. It seems he is thinking."Besides, I am a warrior and a man. I have chosen this path knowing full well the dangers and perils that await me. A true warrior would not balk at death."You stand up, as Zhou Tai opens his eyes."I am in need of your help. I wish to eliminate the criminals and bandits of this area. My goals reach further than that; to unite this land under Lord Lu Bu and bring back stability.""I see." Zhou Tai takes a few seconds, but soon, he stands before you. A tall, imposing man, but you do not falter before him. "You may be too honest and trusting to a fault. But your eyes are strong and full of character, and you have convinced me. I will serve your force, to redeem myself of my past."
>>33924507Our forces are a bit small, but with enough training and equipment, we could probably turn them into a elite small force that can be the back bone for our greener, future soldiers. Add our generals, and Yuan Shu may just end up being the nerd against the Lu Bu jocks.
Lingqi is patrolling the streets of Wu. Some of the people whisper at the sight of a woman in armor and weapon, but most know who she is and have heard about her deeds in battle. They know very well not to cause trouble around her.You come before Lingqi, one hand waving in mid-air. At your sight, Lingqi smiles and walks forward to meet you."Good day, Zhu Xing," she says. You've entered a relationship with Lingqi. You have both agreed that while you may spend some intimate time together, you both should keep things professional in matters of war. She stills seems quite happy to see you, and is all smiles. “Lingqi, I see you are as dedicated as ever.”“Of course.”“I have something to discuss. I wish to rid the area of bandits, some remnants that still remain. I believe eliminating them will solve some problems and raise some support for us. Will you help me?”“Of course!”“Very good. I have recently hired an able warrior to help us. He's had some connections to the bandits in the past, but rest assured, he is trustworthy. We'll work together with him.”“Of cour- Wait... We're not going to be alone?”Zhou Tai emerges from the back, and bows. At his sight, Lingqi frowns.“This is Zhou Tai. I believe he will be of great aid to us in eliminating the trouble around here. Zhou Tai, where shall we begin?”Lingqi sighs and grumbles in a low voice, something about people interrupting and whatnot.“I know of a group of criminals around this area. I was once a part of their group. But they are careful. They move around, and will likely hide from your lordship's presence. I believe it would be best to draw them out, dressed as common folk, and then find their hiding place.”“Huh!?” Lingqi replies. “Let's just get the troops and round them all up. Why are we doing all that stuff?”>Follow Zhou Tai's plan>It may be too dangerous, go as Lingqi says.

You're a damned lord now.""It would be quite fine for myself and the General to go, if the little one is too afraid," Zhou Tai remarks."What was that!? "I'll show you who's REALLY smaller."It seems things are going at a fine start.-------------------------------------------It is night time, and you, Lingqi, and Zhou Tai are in commoner's clothing. All three of you cover yourselves in cloaks, and head over to a rundown district of the city. You search the area for an hour."So? Where are they?" Lingqi mutters. No sooner than when Lingqi speaks, a number of men come out from alleys. In sniggers and smirks, they draw weapons. Some come from the back, and they surround you three. There are about a dozen of them."Walking late at night?" one of them says. "Bad idea. You buffoons must be new around here.""We should take one of them alive," Zhou Tai says as he draws his sword."Don't get killed, Bandit Man," Lingqi says as she draws her own blade.Roll 1d100, best of three

All three of you swiftly scatter in different directions at the same time. The criminals are caught surprised. Before one bandit even manages to get his guard up, you quickly dispatch one bandit with a slash of your blade at his throat.Three other bandits come charging at you, and you begin parrying their attacks. Sadly, the man refuses to sell out the commander, and you have to make do with eliminating a part of the bandits.Returning back to the barracks, you organize some guards. Rolled 13>>33927011Can we have the personal store as well?
throwing my support for 5 ships and at least 1000 crossbow men, next turn we should consider training regiments as well
Rolled 15>>33927119We should increase the size of the army as well.5000 is too small. We induct more troops, send Gan Ning, Song Xian, Gao Shun and a few thousand trained men to go and pacify the area.
>>33927161We need to secure our money and food situation before expanding. It'd be more productive to train up the troops we have.
>>33927161You do understand that troops cost both food and gold to upkeep right?Currently we should be focused on blooding our current troops with bandits instead of recruiting more green fools.
Rolled 14>>33927161We might want up see if we have the farming output to support more troops. It might be a good idea to just train what troops we have for now
Rolled 12>>33927197They went from Green to Average. I'm hoping that they might see an increase in training standard once the season is over as well.

>>33927161>recruiting more troopsveto, our force sucks balls right now, I'm going to guess that besides those on bandit runs that most are not even blooded
>>33927198This.5000 is enough, we're really not going to be fighting Yuan Shu with only this. We're going to have ALL of Lu Bu's army behind us
>>33927161As is, we want to make sure our farms can support it. We need some major surplus there especially with how marching soldiers require more food. Right now, we need a strong core thats well armed. Once we have a core, then we expand.
>>33927238We are expected to gear up to defend the province though. I agree that markets etc is a better move at the moment but we can't appear vulnerable either. We'll need to start getting shit in gear come spring.
don't forget guys we can always request resources from our other city though we'll probable have to make sure it arrives to us safely, incase things go sour
Guys, I'm not too sure if we can afford anything past the 5 warships. Yes we have 3500 gold in the bank, but we're running a 400 gold deficit right now with the additional officer. We need to get our gold in order before anything else.
>>33927161I would actually have Zhu Xing lead the expedition. This way we can negotiate with the Shanyue tribes when possible. Also fun as well. Gao Shun would remain in the city with Zhou Tai to maintain order since he's the best at that. I'm also thinking that Song Xian will eventually lead our elite crossbowmen. He was good at leading archers in our campaign and almost killed Wang Lang by himself.
>>33927282Then let's tighten defenses then. The enemy will have to march over here across the river to get us. That will likely take time and if we attack them from the banks with balistas and catapults, we can sink some ships before they even reach the shore, or force them to take the long route to us and waste time and supplies.
>>33927336Also we'd take the vast majority of the cavalry with us, leaving behind some elite crossbowmen and about half our remaining forces to defend.
>>33927326the way I see it, we can always raid yuan if we need stuff, that or spam market increase
>>33927326If we maintain that deficit, it will take just below 3 years to run out of the gold. It's good to increase market, but we shouldn't be too stingy with our purse.
>>33926909From what I'm seeing, we're spending>50 gold from our own pockets on a banquet>Spending 500 gold on 5 warships so we don't get raped in naval>200 gold on strong crossbows (1000) to make an elite crossbow dedicated squad>Everything else seems to be being arguedI'd like to put my own vote that we improve markets before wasting too much money. We should have at least 2000 in the bank at all times. We're fine currently but if we spam...
Rolled 89Does the banquet need to be from our own gold?
>>33927470Oh and we seem to be getting 1000 armour for 200 as well. Somehow missed that

You gather some of the taxes and add them to your treasury. (+540 gold). Taxes and harvest will be obtained at the start of every Spring and Fall, to make things easier than at the end of those seasons. On one of the days, you hear a tremendous news that startles the populace of the area and your officers. Yuan Shu has self-declared himself Emperor, and his declared his state to be called Zhong. You meet with the others to discuss the matter."This man must have been dropped on his head when he was a babe," Yu Fan states laughing."Perhaps it is no laughing matter..." Gu Yong remarks. "It may mean that he plans to attack our lands.""What of it?" Yu Fan remarks scoffing. "At this point, all the lords around the land would want Yuan Shu's head. He will be dead soon enough.""Indeed, perhaps it is time we begin an attack ourselves," Song Xian remarks.

>>33928980As the officers discuss the news, a messenger arrives informing you that a council meeting will be held at Jian Ye in regards to the matter. You and the other officers depart for Jian Ye immediately. At the council meeting in Jian Ye, the attitude and remarks of the others are the same. “It seems we no longer need to concern ourselves with Yuan Shu,” Zhang Liao remarks. “His reign will surely end in time.”“Perhaps we should start a campaign, my Lord?” Fan Neng asks.“I think so as well,” Lu Bu replies with a smirk. “I fought with Yuan Shu many years ago, and he dared attack my lands when we established our base here. I would like to get rid of him.”The officer all lambast Yuan Shu and condescend towards him. Chen Gong however raises a hand for silence after some time. His face is somewhat disconcerted as attention goes to him.“...As I would have expected, we have a decree from the Emperor. Or shall I say from Cao Cao...” He takes our a parchment and reads it aloud. “'These lands have long been turbulent, and since the days of the Yellow Turbans, many rebels have risen across this land. One such bandit, a traitor to the people, the Son of Heaven, and the heavens itself, is Yuan Shu. Declaring himself falsely as an Empeor, Yuan Shu has become a plague to the land. I hereby command Governor Lu Bu of Yangzhou, to crush Yuan Shu and bring his rebellion to an end. Do so, and the city of Shou Chun and it's outlying lands shall be given as reward to Lu Bu. Lu Bu shall also receive the title of General of Agile Cavalry should he participate in this task. Wan sui, wan sui, wan sui, the Son of Heaven.”
>>33929006The officers around the table nod with smile as they hear the news.“Good! So our lord gets land, titles, and we get to kill Yuan Shu! Why not start a campaign the next year?” Wei Xu comments in.Chen Gong shakes his head. “...We may want to reconsider,” Chen Gong states. “This is a move to clearly benefit Cao Cao, who I believe is one of our main adversaries to watch out for. At the same time however... I cannot say that the rewards we shall receive is not grand.” Chen Gong rubs his beard. “Officers, we must decide if we wish to take this Imperial command or not. If we do not, we may instead focus on conquering Jiao province to the south and west. The governor Shi Xie is a weak man and I believe we can take his territory easily. Perhaps we should focus on territory inward...”“But taking Shou Chun and Yuan Shu's lands gives us a foothold in the Central Plains,” Gan Ning remarks. “I do not want to see Cao Cao grow stronger however,” Taishi Ci states.“We have strong power generals, and our cavalry is the greatest in the land. What need do we have to fear Cao Cao?” Hou Cheng says with a scoff. “I think people here are overestimating the man too greatly. It seems the officers are beginning to grow divided now on the issue as Chen Gong gives his input. After a bit of thinking and contemplating the issue, you give your input as well."...I believe we should obey the imperial decree," you state. The other officers look at you, knowing full well that you are one of the most important people here and your counsel will sway Lu Bu."Shi Xie may be a weak governor, but Jiao province is vast and he has plentiful armies and supplies. It may take too long to take the land there, and at the same time, gives opportunities towards the northern lords to expand their power. We cannot stay in the Southlands forever, we must take a foothold on the Central Plains. Ignoring an Imperial decree will also label us traitors.Let us destroy Yuan Shu. No doubt the other lords will fight against him as well. We will bring further name to our cause by killing this false emperor. So what if this Cao Cao benefits? We benefit as well, and we shall destroy Cao Cao should he attempt to trifle with us. I believe in the strength of our generals to defeat Cao Cao's army, and the ability of our administrators to keep the Southlands well-kept."The other officers nod, and they agree with your words. Chen Gong nods as well, not having taken an entire side on the issue and having had trouble on which strategy to take. It seems Chen Gong values your input."Well said, well said," Lu Bu says with a nod. Lu Bu stands, and grabbing his halberd, stamps the pole down on the floor with loud *CLANK* *CLANK* *CLANK*"Hear me! In the start of next year, we shall begin our campaign to destroy Yuan Shu! >>33929750>>Reply as matter-of-fact to Zhang Zhao and the truth of the manner>Tell Zhang Zhao you are trying to get Sun Ce on your sideYou are saying this for the benefit of Lu Bu and other generals as well.Sun Ce's a mighty, but unappreciated and wasted in Yuan Shu's camp. He would be an asset and he said that he's not particularly happy serving Yuan Shu. Getting a general of that caliber to defect is nothing to be shamed about.
>>33929750Tell him we have the foresight of a slightly retarded newt and think bringing the sun clan into our lands is a good idea.

You make a small shrug. You find Zhang Zhao slightly irritating, but make no offending remarks back to him,"Sun Ce is a warrior that I fought a few months past. He was a brave man despite being an enemy, and after I placed a scar upon his face, we both declared we would finish our duel one day. We see each others as respectable warriors, nothing more.""Exchanging letters however puts a bad outlook upon our force. What are the soldiers and others to say if our top general is talking with the enemy?""Could it not be the same for Yuan Shu as well?" you reply. "In fact, should Yuan Shu grow suspicious, we may win Sun Ce to us yet. I wish to see him join our cause.""General, you should be focused on destroying Yuan Shu and eliminating his forces. You should not be so concerned with capturing a man that it clouds the bigger picture.""Enough, Zhang Zhao," Lu Bu remarks with a frown and a wave of his hand. "I appreciate your counsel, but Zhu Xing knows what he is doing. We are warriors, and there are certain traits we all share that you may not understand. I see no problem in an exchange of letters for a future battle. I trust you to take care of internal matters, but not be so concerned with what goes on in the battlefield."Zhang Zhao grits his teeth, but then drops his annoyance."Very well," Zhang Zhao states. "Then I apologize for doubting you, General," Zhang Zhao says with a bow to you.Things are patched well with Zhang Zhao, and you depart back to Wu. You now begin to make preparations to destroy Yuan Shu and start the next campaign.--------------------------------------------Part 13 End. Next session Monday, same time as usual. +2 Pol as well for market, banquet, and Zhang Zhao stuff. Whether you chose to attack Yuan Shu or Shi Xie, there were benefits and negatives on both sides. >>33930148So questions for future planning, feel free not to answer if it's spoilers or too meta.1. What do we know about the Sun clan's actual influence in the Southlands now? Obviously they are not going to conquer Southlands but are the Suns still remembered fondly?2. Will we have 3 months before campaign starts to recruit and train?3. Will Zhu Yang continue to court Cai Yan while we go off to fight Yuan Shu? 4. Has Yu Fan seriously pissed off anyone important yet?

Since we have a year before the campaign musters, can we buy superior army for ourselves before we fight Yuan Shu?We seem to be taking a more aggressive approach, which is great, but that puts us at a higher risk of injury.Reinforced Armor is probably worse it to prevent character death and serious wounds that would sideline us for the campaign and prevent us from getting those stat ups.

Aside from ours, are there any left in our navy? Assuming a total force of 15k men, we need 45 more boats. Thats 4500 gold in total.
>>33931212We need to increase our forces to at least 10k, buy better weapons and trainI'd really rather have 15-20k troops so we can double Lu Bu's army.

>>33931276I nominate our sister. She can marry one of our generals and help us out on our campaigns.

>>33931484Better armor doesn't mean heavier either. It could very well be professionaly made armor instead of some quickly put together fair. I do think we need to get reinforced armor ourselves, consider that spear wound from before.

>>33931521I'm going to suggest we go recruiting troops x3 on our next turn and see where that gets us in numbers. After that, probably increase farms and then after that training and searching for officers
>>33931525DW 8 XL since it has Lingqi in it. >>33931542We can also go crazy on equipment since Raian clarified that we don't have to pay upkeep.I want muh elite cavalry and elite navy
Rolled 13>>33931566Thanks m8
>>33931542>>33931566Navy should be the main thing we spend on.We're gonna need alot of boats for the campaign.
>>33931542Farms first may be a better idea, since that lets a surplus tick up for more turns. Just getting the troops and not training them for another turn doesn't really help.
>>33931582I don't think that's true. We need to cross the river to enter Yuan Shu's lands, but afterwards will be a ground war as we try and siege everything down.
>>33931584I'm hoping we can designated civil officers to work on those instead of us. Like have them concentrate on it.
>>33931542I also think we should spend fall season subjugating the Shanyue remnants in our area to make sure there's no internal rebellion before we set sail. Practical training for the newbies as well. >>33931584This is true actually. If we can spend the winter season ticking up farms, then that's worth it since we get food in both spring and summer. If we start in spring, then we could wait until summer I guess.
>>33931602We already spent winter improving the markets.
>>33931566Yeah, 5000 elite might not seem like much, but add in the other forces and we can very well be a crack troop of soldiers. Besides, bigger armies aren't good if they are ill equipped and untrained. Not only that, but the river is going to be a major hurdle for us, especially to get our men over it into enemy territory.
>>33931596Yuan shu's forces met us on the river though, 15k strong. We'll need to break through their navy first before we even have a chance at beginning the siege.
Let's just ride into Yuan Shu's city and take his head, shove the Imperial Seal in it, and mail it it to Cao Cao.
>>33931582Raian said that we should assume that there are enough boats for transportation at least from the last thread.Warships are for the specific purpose of gaining naval advantage. I do think we should get more ships for the initial engagement, transportation, and to keep supply routes open. But we need to balance it out with elite forces as well. We'll need siege equipment as well since we have to take Yuan Shu's city.
>>33931622So definitely farms first, then, since that gives us the summer tick. The plan would befarms x 3recruit x3 evaluate if we have enough troops, if not spend some more turns recruitingtrain x?, search for officers x1 at least, maybe more depending on how well training goes.
>>33931646https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPGMC9Xt1v8&feature=youtu.be&t=13m27s>Cao Cao's reaction
>>33931660What would be enough forces? Lu Bu came back with 20k. We should at least have 10k I think, though 15k seems better given the sizes of armies we've encountered.
>>33931648Indeed. Hell, seige can be handy just in sinking Yuan Shu's ships, either by shore or on properly mounted ships. Maybe we can commission a big ship for such a purpose?
>>33931639Gao Shun and Lu Lingqi could lead the elite cavalry. Gan Ning could lead the fleet and the ambushers. Song Xian could lead the elite crossbowmen. If we train these troops, we have the leadership to make a big difference on the battlefield. I'm assuming we are leaving Zhou Tai behind since he's captain of the guard?
>>3393168210k seems to be a reasonable number.10,000 Troops.2,000 Heavy Infantry (Improved Armour)2,000 Shock Troops (Improved Spears)2,000 Heavy Support (Heavy Crossbows)1,000 Cavalry3,000 Line Infantry (Unupgraded)
>>339317155k is just not enough given the sizes of the forces we've seen in the south. Wang Yang had a total of over 17k troops spread across our current province when we invaded. Quantity is a quality all its own.
>>33931735We really should have more cavalry I think. Gao Shun is a huge difference maker as a cavalry general.>>33931745True, and I'll be voting to recruit as well. My point is that quality will be particularly important since we'll be part of a massive Lu Bu army. We want to be the vanguard and accomplish big things.
>>33931715Yeah, Zhou Tai can serve as a capable defender. I say we spend the spring doing a mix of training, recruiting, and support. Get some more armor and supplies, and rally the forces. Summer, we do some farming, and market. Fall with Recruiting, Training, and Security, and winter with Support, training and possibly a big event to get the city ready.
>>33931785Live fire training?Use the troops to pacify the area.
>>33931735We have an income of 540 every 3 months, there will be 4 turns so that's 2160 additional gold. We have currently 2600 gold, that's 4760 gold we can spend. We have 1k armor, 1k xbow, 1k horse, 5 warships. We need siege, so let's say 3x catapults, 3xballista for 600 gold. That brings us down to 4160 gold. We could use another 1k cavalry I think, so that costs 200 gold. Armoring everyone left would be 1.8k goldImproving their weapons would be 1.8k goldWe could get another 1k bows for 200 gold. That leaves us with 160 gold to spend on ships,2k cavalry2k xbows6k infantryWhich sounds like a respectable force to me
>>33931796Mix of that and possibly a big rally/festival for the city. We want the men to leave the city with high morale and the best we can equip them with, leaving 2000 in the bank if possible. Honestly, I want the calvary to be both properly armored and armed before the big fight. 1000 gold to armor our 5000 elite troopers doesn't sound bad to me if it helps them last in combat.
>>33931832er, improving weapons would be 1.6k gold, leaving us with 360 for ships
>>33931735Let's see, that would cost.1000 Improved Armour = 200 Gold2000 Improved Spears = 400 Gold1000 Heavy Crossbows = 200 Gold ____800 Gold We have 2600 Gold Remaining and 540*3/4,so 4220 or 4760 Gold to spend.Let's say we buy 5 catapults, 3 rams, 2 towers and 5 new warships. That comes to 2300 gold in total. We can outfit a lot more troops.
>>33931832>>33931848Thats only enough for 3 warships, I think we need more than that. Ideally, maybe 15 warships.
>>33931832I don't think we should be outfitting every infantry men with the best equipment. Maybe a smaller elite infantry core of 2k or so for Gan Ning to lead?We can use the gold we save to get more balanced selection of siege weapons (rams and towers are important too), more ships, and have some gold left over for emergencies.
>>33931871to ferry a force of 10k would require 34 ships, which would be 3400 gold. I don't think raian means for us to spend our entire budget on boats. I could be wrong, but I think transport will be provided, with ships we buy improving our naval combat phase.>>33931880These aren't peasant levies, though, they're our standing army. They have shit equipment right now, and bringing everyone up to par will decrease their casualties, increase the casualties they inflict and generally make battles easier.
>>33931880Wait, I'm stupid. Disregard. That's 1000 gold, which seems a lot more reasonable.
>>33931899Not for transport of course but full specialised navy ships will definitely help our initial assault. If we get hit badly, we may lose alot of men to the river and they won't be able to participate in the main sieges.I say we cannot afford to skimp too much for the potential losses can be great.
>>33931899Also remember that you cannot train veterancy, it has to come from combat. The more actual veterans we build, the better it will be for us later down the line.
>>33931899Well, they have basic armor and spear, so they are probably up to par with a standard soldier. I dunno, that budget just seems to be cutting it too close. 900 gold for siege weapons and ships just isn't enough in my opinion. We can't really cut equipment from elite cavalry or crossbowmen, so I think the infantry has to be the one.
>>33931678Well, if nothing else, that's convinced me to watch the whole 2010 show.
Total: 47601000 Horses: 2001000 Crossbow: 2002000 Improved Armr: 4002000 Improved Spear:4004x Catapult: 4004x Ballista: 4004x Ram: 4004x Siege Twr:40010x Warships: 1000Total:3,800Leaves us with a thousand discretionary funds.
>>3393189910 boats so we have 3000 in safety isn't bad though. We can have that 3000 be heavily armed and armored. Half spears, half crossbows. 1000 with cross bows only, 2000 with spears only, and our calvary elite will have the 1000 horses, armor and spears. We can have them come last so they aren't dead in the water in case of naval battle.
>>339319778 boats gives us almost the same effect but makes our entire army well equipped. I think you guys are really overstressing how important the naval battle will be, especially considering liu biao will almost certainly be coming, as will ma chao
Zhu Xing's gonna spill spaghetti all over Sun Ce and we're gonna have to kill him in self defense. That, or Sun Ce's dream of conquest will be too much for him to hide and he betrays us>>33931678>mfw Cao Cao actually places 80,000 steamed buns to defend Xuzhou from Liu Bei
>>33932002Ma Teng is actually too far away I think. Liu Biao, Liu Bei, and Cao Cao are probably the main alliance members.
>>33932007>That, or Sun Ce's dream of conquest will be too much for him to hide and he betrays usThis is the obvious thing that will happen but ce fanboys want his cock so badly they don't care.
>>33932007The sun family become the lu bu of alternate RotK. Truely fate has twisted itself around for Lu Bu. He even has a awesome campaign beard.
>>33932023Raian himself said that sun ce right now has no popular support. If he tried something here, the populace would support us instead.
>>33932002I think 10 boats will be enough. But I also want more siege weapons and more variety. Catapults and ballistas alone aren't enough. I guess my wish list is:2000 Fully Equipped Cavalry2000 Elite Crossbowmen, do we really need improved armor for these guys? 6000 Infantrymen, fully equip with improved armor, give half bear spears. 5 Additional Boats10 Assorted Siege EquipmentsIf we have left over cash, we can give better spear to the remaining infantrymen.
>>33932046He said what made ce so great was that he built popular support out of nothing with just his charisma and strength. He still has both of those.
Why are you people so fixated on the number 5000 soldiers? For the campaign, we will be recruiting soldiers and that number should at least double when the time comes.
>>33932085We've been discussing loadouts for 10k soldiers, bub.
>>33932060But he also built the popular support based on his conquest of the Southern territories ruled by inept lords. Usurping a powerful, popular lord will be infinitely more difficult as a nobody compared to his actual historical situation. That's actually why I asked that question to Raian. If he had built-in popular support, I would have been really alarmed. I'm not a Sun Ce fanboy but I do think there are some major differences here. >>33932085But the discussion has been revolving around equipping 10,000 soldiers for sometime now.
>>33932051Total: 47601000 Horses: 2001000 Crossbow: 2007000 Improved Armr: 14005000 Improved Spear:100010x Siege: 10005x Warships: 500Total:4,300Doable.Leaves us with some spare cash. I think we should keep a reserve just incase though, and not spend further if we use your plan.
>>33932112Well I don't know if my plan will win popular support, but I would also advice equipping our troops in waves and not all at once. If we run short of money somehow, we can choose to buy less spears during Winter and make up the difference.
>>33932112I think armor for everyone is non-negotiable. We need our people to survive. I would be willing to skimp on spears, for other priorities, but 2 additional ships just feels frivolous compared to having a fully fitted out ground army.
>>33932112Ideally we should purchase some siege, spears and the horses first. That lets the more trained troops get some time to train on them first before the green troops move in. Those can fill the ranks of the line troopers.
>>33932112>>33932138A thought just occurred to me. We need to leave a garrison behind to defend the city while we campaign. We should probably aim to recruit more than 10k and aim to leave at least 2000 unupgraded infantrymen to hold the fort.
>>33932164Waha.... Pain in the ass....Maybe raian can tell us next thread whether Chen Gong gave us any goals as to the number of troops we should bring.
>>33932164That's true. So we'd need to recruit up to at least 12k total forces before switching to training.
>>33932164We also need to leave a general or two behind in command...Fuck. The most trustworthy is Gao Shun. Leaving Zhou Tai or Gan Ning in charge sends the wrong message.
>>33932154I'm okay with agreeing to the armor for everyone part. As for the exact spears to ships ratio, I think we can leave that for next thread and see what the larger playerbase thinks and go from there.
IMO if we play it right we can do without too many siege weapons. I'm more concerned about the fact that once we cross the Yangtze/Great River, our ships will be totally useless until someone attacks us rather than us attacking them.>>33932002Liu Biao and Liu Cong will never attack us considering they are too peaceful and content with Jing, and Liu Cong is married Lu Bu's daughter(unless they suddenly pull an Oda Nobunaga).Ma Teng is way up in the Northwest, we have the southeast>>33932108He can bide his time if we recruit him anon.
>>33932208Liu Biao will definitely join the attack on the false emperor, what are you smoking?
>>33932208Not completely though. The river stretches a wide path across the land, we can easily use it in assaults on other parts of china.
>>33932201I've been dreading this really. We need to clone Gao Shun. He's needed to lead our elite cavalry and he is the best garrison general we have as well.I think we have to leave Zhou Tai in charge. He's proven himself with deeds and he is technically the Captain of the City Watch after all. I would like to leave one more general with him, but no one's suitable.Zhu Xing? Leading campaign. Lingqi? Waifu, great vanguard commander, not so great at city management. Song Xian? Dude's kinda corrupt and he also wants glory. Gao Shun? See above. Gan Ning? More problematic than Zhou Tai and he's needed for naval battle and ambushes.
>>33932221I misread the message, I thought that they were talking about potential opponentsAnyway here's a crappy edited map so you know who are close to Yuan Shu
>>33932246Ah shit, we're going to fight at hefei
>>33932244Which is also why I want to use part of fall to try to pacify the Shanyue tribes in our area.In addition to being training for our troops, it covers our back since we'll only have 1 general manning the fort. The good news is that we aren't really facing other threats to the city. Cao Cao isn't going to backstab Lu Bu right now because that would break the alliance and turn the coalition members against him. Liu Bei won't do anything, Liu Biao is a honorable ally, and Yuan Shu won't have the resources to maintain any sort of invasion.
>>33932244>Zhou Tai, Captain of city guardDidn't notice that, doable I guess. We need everyone else though if we're taking on Sun Ce.
>>33932288It's okay, Zhang Liao gets +10 bonus at Hefei. Might want Taishi Ci to stand in the reserves though.
We don't need to load all our cash on ships. We can borrow some ships from Lu Bu or Liu Biao for the fight against Yuan Shu. We can have a small fleet with Gan Ning commanding it and can use other people's ships to move our army if we don2t have enough ships to carry everyone. It is much more important to have a better ground forces since we will be focusing on the fight on the ground.
>>33932298Sun Ce's a good general, but I'm pretty optimistic really. We have so many great generals as it is. I don't think one enemy general can turn the tide. Might be closer battle if Sun Ce was in charge and not Ji Ling though.
>>33932309Taishi Ci dies at the battle of hefei against cao cao's forces in 208. Considering how everything in this history has been accelerated we really don't want him on the front lines.
>>33932325Yea but sun ce at this point also leads a stable of fierce generals including Zhou Yu.We only have so many generals who can match their powress.
>>33932320We might want to be careful about borrowing too much from Liu Biao, that snake Cai Mao's in charge of the navy and he might expect favors. Remember what he would have done to us if we had taken the lure position? >>33932309Hefei is usually on the way to Shouchun. It was also the site of many famous battles between Cao Cao and Sun Quan. Zhang Liao gained his reputation as the best of Cao Cao's generals through his actions at Hefei. >>33932341Well, Zhang Liao was the one who killed him, so I think we are okay there.
>>33932341Metagaming to such degree is ridiculous. We are playing an alternate history. We can not change plans thinking he is suppose to die there. We can just do whatever is best.
>>33932347His stable of fierce generals is basically just zhou yu. We're eating his entire general staff with our recruitment efforts.
