Previously:
San Diego is wiped out by a tidal wave, a young man caught in the deluge as the city is erased by what some might consider the very wrath of god in a world with a sky of endless colors. Snatched from the brunt of the wave, the young man faces an inhuman creature of humanoid form that strikes out his eye to deliver onto him the gift of magic by means of the followers.

Praise be to Susej they say. These followers.

Selfish in his means of survival, a young man rallies with these people for his own safety as the government seeks to keep the truth of the world under wraps, that magic exists and that people like the followers are throwing it into chaos.

Sent on a mission to liberate people captured for conscription based on their awakening to magic, he journeys with others to meet with a woman planted for this very purpose, finding adversity on the way.

Having left a trail all too easy to follow, he's been captured and taken to the very place he'd been looking to gain access, though not exactly on his own terms...

You are Asher, welcome back to Over(human)Limit S2
>>
How long has it been? Days? Weeks? Months?
You open your eyes to see the same polymer metal molded into a perfect ceiling, floor, and four wall box as every other waking moment you've been here. There is the slightest indentation to show the presence of a door. A hyper-sophisticated technologically magnificent faux porcelain hole in the corner is your toilet, refuse bin, and so on. The lack of a shower here has caused your hair to stick to your scalp and brow.
You got over your hygiene after a while. It was worse walking through the desert.

With Hot Rod, Helia, Arin, and Eshe. The latter two of which are dead. Arin never liked what you were all doing as a roving gang of terrorists. She'd been fine with attacking soldiers, thrilled even to test out her magic. But when it came to ignorant civilians and the people in that church in Pahrump, she finally turned.

Eshe, the follower that had been watching over the four of you “new recruits” was the one that offed her as you went to work carrying out the work of the mad goddess Asherah.

It took time and that's when you drew too much attention. In retrospect, it was doing those things for Asherah that really got you in this shithole. OverWatch came in with mechanized soldiers that killed Eshe as you all fled.
She was unceremoniously gunned down on the highway to Vegas. You all kind of mourned her, but that's when you met Jackie.
A strange one she was, and irritating at first. She belittled you and spoke with a valleygirl accent, but she was strong in her own way of magic. She'd started teaching you and two others recently awakened, Doc Eustene and Camille, a painter.
Doc fixed up a hole in Helia that she got from fighting the OverWatch mechs, if it wasn't for him, she'd be dead.
>>
>>33946433
Here we gooooo
>>
>>33946433
IT'S BACK
>>
>>33946521

And you didn't want Helia dead. She's been with you since the second day of your awakening. Fighting, and sustaining injury after injury, she's transformed from a frail woman into a frigid she-demon at your beck and call. Even if it's not just her in there anymore...

With no wards to hold your magic back, you had attempted to escape with an explosive burst of magic, yet a stabbing pain bit into you like a gunshot, depriving you of any concentration.
Painful experimentation eventually made you come to figure out what happened to you. Some kind of a pacification hex you figure, from the priest. Violent thoughts, trigger it. And whenever you've tried to cast a spell, it'd make your body convulse in pain until you stopped trying.
The pain didn't go away for a while, all the things that you wished you could do to that priest... That asshole ruined everything. He ruined everything and yet... You've moved past that now. You needed to move past that.
For now.

Now and then that same man from before came in now and then over the intercom to give you updates on general events. This is where you would come out of your thoughts and listen without giving him any reply.

He introduced himself as “Sam.”

It's from “Sam” that you learn that the followers have lost moving ground and that Overwatch(you assume as he's never actually named his employers outside of stating involvement with the U.S. Government) has taken strategic points back. He's made the offhand comment once, twice- several times that without Susej the followers are nothing. He's acted as though OverWatch is indeed winning. You neither call him on his bluff or fully accept it.
>>
>>33946559
Sam told you everything about what the followers had done, the civil wars they've created that have effectively destroyed nations and even now consistently do away with millions, indirect death count into the billion after the last year.
It's baffling. Baffling that they'd actually want to do that, that he thinks you'd believe him, and that it'd persuade you. You're one of the Followers, you joined them to teach others enlightenment and yet...

You reacted with anger at first, and it gave him some satisfaction. These days, you breath right through it, your mind clear and your emotions emptied.

To try at making conversation, the man found out where you had lived, and about your family. He spared some words to give you his condolences over their deaths. made the correct assumption that you probably don't much care anymore. He'd always cut off when he began to lose his temper or he decided that he had something else to do.
He's been a talker, and slowly, but surely whatever Stockholm syndrome he's trying to work into you- isn't working.

You've got someone else to talk to, Lucia.

Projecting yourself into the second layer of the astral world, she awaits you either in bed or before a fire to exchange a modest cup of coffee. Sometimes the two of you go for a romp in the hay when the thought fancies you. She tells you sweet little nothings in the afterglow, and you soak them in. Sometimes they're tips and tricks to aid you in the breakthrough of your spellwork for when the curse is lifted, other times, they're little musing of how you're going to be her champion someday as she traces the frame of your face with a single digit.
Such words would be ended with a tender kiss upon your lips.

You ignore the food that comes in through the chute, eating very little to keep your mind clear of whatever drugs they might've put in there.
Drinking water sparingly, your fasting has made you thinner, your ribs outlining your chest.

>>33946601
You almost feel like Siddhartha Gautama as you fast and meditate on the wonder of life, on the power of magic.
Through the bored cries of a mischievous fae that had been caught too many times by those beyond your polymer boundary that possess the “sight,” you have steeled your mind against irritation as you've learned to tune in to the earth around you, allowing the far off loam kept at bay by this strange material. It tells you that you're underground.

And you have become beyond the screams and death throes of a hungering demon. Donner, still plagued by a curse, you've had to quarantine him within a refined ward, his howls lost in the facsimile of a winter storm.

Between dealing with your familiars, perfecting what magic you have, and waiting out however long they intend to keep you here, you eek out a dismal little routine for yourself.
With enough concentration you can see past the wall of your prison into the realm just beyond with other prisoners standing by idly. At times you'll receive a glimpse of the hallway as a guard patrols, or takes away one of the prisoners with an escort of those containing power.

It's like a proclamation, "We are in control here."
>>
can't wait to break out of this hell hole
>>
>>33946709

With every challenge, every tribulation, other mages in the world would get stronger. Not being one to fall behind in the rat race, your meditation leads you to refining what you already have within the ether where the pain will not find you. Over and over again, you repeat the mental exercises progressing upon perfection, refining control of mana and decreasing that pain of producing and directing it.
When released from this curse, you will be a force to be reckoned with.

You will proclaim, "I am in control here."

Staring through the astral layer of sight, you watch for the guard, it's been some time since they made a pass. Electronics aren't a guarantee after all, they need multiple levels of verification to ensure their prisoners are contained properly within these spartan alien boxes.

The guard is a little late today, Nora always counts the time, eager to buzz out and play with whoever's on duty, even if it gets her in trouble.

The intercom comes on with an electric buzz, the passing of breath over a speaker by one that's unversed in its use, “You. Stand up if you can hear me.” The voice is low and partially modified, but you can tell by the tone that it is not interested in waiting, and it's not the “Sam” you've come to know.

Remaining seated in a crossed-legged position, you can't help but smirk with a little bit of arrogance. The low hum of ventilation in this room carries on in the background of the real world while Nora giggles on at your abject defiance in the ether.

The voice crackles in again, “I said stand dammit, I do not have time for this.” The distorted voice's irritation is readily apparent. It cuts out for a moment and you open your eyes.

Even if you escaped now, the hex is still restricting your power. Is this some kind of a trick or...
~Hey, hey. Should I go check on him? Can I bother him? It's been so long since I've made someone have a proper “accident”~ Nora bleats in the ether, communing through the link of your contract as she flits around, distorting pockets of air with her presence.

I think they want to see if Nora can get the magic restrict off us. I have no idea why they think she can and we haven't already tried.
>>
(Go see who it is, nothing more. He's a friend until I say otherwise.) You whisper to Nora through the ether and she flits off, slipping into the intercom and backtracking the voice. With a meditative breath you keep yourself calm and collected. Nora's only sustain is when she's forced to take mana from you, and when she does the curse takes effect and delivers crippling pain.

Out of the goodness of her black heart and your own not-so-polite request, she's abstained from manifesting much to keep you from having to endure that. It's not so fun for her when you threaten to box her in a ward like Donner.

The voice comes back on, “Others are ready to leave, but I came for you. I haven't got the time for this so stand or I'm going to drag your sorry ass out.” The voice has become calm and monotone, undermining the previous irritation. The success with the others must've done wonders for him.
~He's kind of a tall guy. Looks a little familiar. Wearing a mask and- ~ Nora's cut off, and there's some feedback from the mic.

“Interesting,” he says as though off-hand. “You have five seconds to comply before I come down there.”

“Who... are you and... why do you come for me?” You finally say with a croak, you haven't used your real voice much.

“A friend and that's on a need-to-know basis. I'll take that as an affirmative. Stand and wait for the door to open. Once out, rendezvous follow the open partitions to rendezvous. I currently have control of the prison-wing's security, I'll be accessing the primary wing directly after this to open the rest of the way. If you suffer collision with an enemy you're on your own.”

Slowly, you stand your legs feeling as though they're creaking, your body frail from disuse.
The polymer door slides open letting in a wave of cool air.

The way is open...

I wonder who it is. A hitman from Asherah? Lucifer sending backup to her favorite filthy human? One of the Followers? One of those dudes that we were watching with divination back forever ago? Some random jackoff from one of the other various organizations that like to do stuff with Overs?
>>
>>33947673
You know, if we took some Oaths we could have some things at effectively Adept instead of Apprentice. Materia Firma, Geokinesis, Aerokenesis, maybe Alchemy could all get upgrades, and I don't think anyone is planning on taking those to Divine anyway.
>>
>>33947718
>Asherah
Oh shit didn't we gave her a base of followers and then piss her off?
>>
>>33947742
According to Dran recently, he changed Oaths to make it so they only give the burn reduction part of rank ups and not the actual bonus versatility that you get from ranking things up.

Like even though our Hydrokinesis is Adept rank when doing ice stuff because of the oath, it can't make ice from nothing like we'd be able to if it was Adept without an oath.
>>
>>33947747

Dranzy didn't we break the contract with Donner by keaping him in that box and not letting him rampage at full moon?
>>
>>33947797
Good to know, but we should still grab some Oaths.

Yeah, it's not going to give us extra options with it, but getting reduced burn and increased output is really nice. And when coupled with our Cantrips and new-found enlightenment should let us explode things all day long.

We're pretty much Luci's head priest at this point, at least from our point of view, so we may as well incorporate Oaths of enlightenment, selfishness, rebellion, knowledge/teaching, and so on.

And we've certainly had plenty of time to think about this during our captivity.
>>
>>33947833
I think he would understand, also I don't think he even understands time right now, niggas enitre existence is pain
>>
>>33947742
I and a couple others wanted to take Alchemy to Divine rank. It's probably our highest tier spell, though Summoning might eek out ahead. They're both really damn good spells and groups would kill for mages that can do only one of them.

The rest, yeah. Those could all probably stand to get oathed.
>>
>>33947571
Whether or not you trust the man on the comm, this may be your only chance at freedom. With a steady breath, you take your first steps out of your cell, others doing the same, some even laughing at their own autonomy. Someone yells prison break like some kind of mor- OW. You wince has the hex “warms up.” You'll need to be careful. Cool, steady thoughts.

The people nearest to you seem confused until the very far end of the hall closes shut leaving only one direction to go for ease of purpose. You turn and see a young lady with a series of scars running up and down her arm in something akin to a pattern. She seems weary, and looks at you for a moment. You can tell by the look of her that she doesn't recognize you...

You begin to walk and take one look back to the chamber, remembering when you were first brought here...

From that room with the white as blinding as the gates of heaven, you had begun to struggle against your bindings, attempts at magic already causing you to convulse in pain.

That was the first time you felt the hex as it pulsated through you body like a hot knife tearing into your lung. Punishment for your thoughts by an unseen force and retribution for the employment of magic.

Regaining consciousness following the pain matrix of hate, a tingle pushed down your spine. A strange and uncertain surge of loathing for Hot Rod. An urge to kill him for his... betrayal? An echo from the connection between you and all the followers.
Hot Rod's betrayal chilled your veins like ice as you gripped the armrest so hard you could see the whites of your knuckles. The man on the other end told you that because of “the kid's wish” to see you and the woman spared, you would be detained until either you agreed to enlist with Overwatch, or died of boredom.

In short time, the man came back on the intercom to tell you what you already knew, that the boy had “cracked.”

From there, you were escorted by that bitch and a pair of twin lackeys that stared at you blankly, their gray eyes, platinum blonde hair and white skin a sight becoming all too common. Despite their apparent lack of emotion, you swear you could feel a twinge of scorn from them.

They looked like DXXI, and that vision that Lucia showed you. Didn't take much to put it together. Clones. Born from one woman and likely augmented to grow quickly into effective supersoldiers, some really shady business.
A closer look at their eyes though revealed something that wasn't present in the suicidal bone, these ones have extra pupils set equilateral from the primary one. Some kind of genetic engineering?

You walk past the blonde, nodding to her as you remember her, the waitress from denny's. You can't quite remember her name. “Hey... Let's go.” You croak, glad that your voice lacks the charisma and tone it had before. Best that she not know who you are.
She slowly nods and follows after. You recognize a few others here. Some from the church are here. It's a goddamn blessing that you were wearing a mask at the time, you only have the denny's girl to worry about recognizing you.

No more than around twenty people move through these halls, slow from atrophy at first, yet quickly building speed and momentum as the blood gets pumping, moving. As you all turn around the corner one of the partitions reverberate from something- someone attempting to break through from the other side.
Your blood fizzes with withdrawn fear as you can only imagine the worst of who it could be- Beliala? No. Not now, too soon. Can't let her catch you.

You find the wind beneath your feet as you and everyone else breaks out into a sprint, another partition closing behind you all as the last passes through, more thundering sounds muffled now beyond the additional partition.

The air burns in your lungs and the numbness of inactivity and starvation forces you to realize just how weak your body has become from your neglect.

Your eyes scan around the others looking for more familiar faces. You don't see Camille or the Doc... and you're missing your most loyal piece, Helia. Where could she be?
Running through the possibilities in your mind, you figure that she must be in another prison block.
>>
>>33948791
You carry on as increased thunder occurs from behind, some of the partitions closing faster and faster until suddenly they cease moving. You note the indentations where they should be closing, likely your “friend” has already moved on from the prison control room. That means you'll be in the primary part of the facility soon, danger abound.
If you could use magic, you could defend yourself. If you could use magic...

An elevator opens, the same that they brought you down here on as you all close in. Without a second thought, everyone crams in, the blonde squeezed in right next to you.
Looking up and away, you try to keep your missing left eye a secret.

“Anyone know who that voice was?” You hear an older man ask. No one else answers, the elevator hums up in silence, no civilian reminder of what floor you're going to, just a red, yellow, and green light with yellow lit up right now.

No one really needs to know where this goes, because it only goes to two places...

Stepping out, you're met with the main halls of this facility, partitions already jammed shut and taking a steady beating down. No alarms here, he must already have the security room, only one that are aware would be those awake right now.

Everyone keeps moving, but you notice a terminal in your run, like something that you'd use as part of an information desk..

>The quest goes terminal before it's even half a thread back

I guess we DLN now.
>>
Stopping abruptly, you nearly fall over your own feet as you change directions for the terminal.

“Where are you going?” Someone from the crowd stops to call back to you, the voice of a concerned fellow prisoner.

“Info, need to find someone.” You touch the terminal and it powers on, initially it looks like it has some diagnostics and the layout of this facility, the map shows the currently active partitions, it's all a very intuitive interface.
This map tells you that you're very near the elevator to the C-Block containment, with B and A on the way that the partitions are open.
The voice comes in from the terminal, “What the hell are you doing?”

“I'm looking for someone I came here with, and a priest, the one that hexed away my magic.” You explain quickly as you zoom in on the barracks, recreation, chapel, medical, training. This isn't just a containment facility you're finding out. This is a base...

“Hex? Hold on... Keep running and stop at the next terminal just outside of B-Block. You'd better hurry, bad company inbound.” The voice cuts off.

>>
>>33949468
I'm pretty sure the constant "do you trust him? Y/N" prompts are just so that we'll hate him all the more when we inevitably end up picking the wrong things.
>>
You give the map one last look, if there are broken partitions you'll at least know where they lead.
Turning around, you find the blonde with the scarred arm standing a few meters from you, staring with sunken in eyes. It makes you only guess at the state your own body must be in.
“Is... everything okay? We're getting out of here, right?” She whispers with a little worry, the far off sounds of metal being pulverized ringing out again and again.

You do not smile, and don't give her any other input to remind her of the man that did this to her. “Yeah... we need to go. Don't worry about me, okay?”

Starting back up, you run past fluorescent lights that give the corridor a clean post-modern glow. The dry slap of your feet against a metal floor thumping in the same hasted rhythm of your own heart. Feeling out, you notice the distinct lack of Nora's voice or her laugh, while Donnor's distant screams remain ever-present.

Making it to the next console, you lunge for it like a starving dog. As it starts up, the nearby elevator hums with whatever passenger cargo its carrying.

“One of our people says that she has ways to remove hexes. Once you're extracted you, we'll deal with it. We have neither the manpower nor the time to kill a man, let alone abduct him-” There's a crash from the other side of the intercom. “Move.” is the last thing he says before cutting away.

~Blahhh, he finally let me go!~ Nora's voice returns to you, and you feel a little bit more at ease.

(Please come to me, I need you here.) You say as the elevator opens, your eye locked on it, the blonde girl carries on with her flight, running off.

People file out, most running past you without a second look. A man and a woman carrying a gaunt, bony thing are the last one out. You're about to turn until you take a closer look at it...

“Helia.” You say her name and she opens her eyes, locking right onto you, and struggling against the people carrying her.
>>
Still awake, Dranzy?
>>
>>33949876
>>33949304
>>33948842
She croaks, “Ashhhrr.” Her body flashes for a moment in her struggling before her own hex runs its course upon her body, causing her to flail harder.

The man and the woman keep a hold on her. “Easy, easy,” The man says, as he lowers her a little, looking to you, “Guessing you two know each other?” He still seems to have his health and strength, likely from having not been here for as long as you or Helia, the woman too.

You nod,”Yeah, from the outside. She's my girlfriend.” You tell the easiest and most understandable story as you stand beside her despite the loss for precious time. You'd meditated on how you feel about... this. Whatever she's become.

To you, Helia is...

It's a good idea to return her loyalty with affection. Fanatical loyalty is great stuff, until it backfires. To keep it from backfiring we need to keep her feeling like she's both useful and dear to us.

I don't really see how all of those are mutually exclusive. She's a valuable piece, but we recognize that moving her is probably more difficult than simply picking her up and setting her down somewhere else on the board. At the same time, despite being a piece, she is ours and when she goes we want it to be our decision and not someone else's.

That's a pretty good way of describing it.
>>
Touching her cheek, she shudders and smiles at you, a hand weakly touching your own. “I-I... Missed you...” A tear rolls down her face, she tries to reach out to hug you, her body once more flashing with power and being punished for it at once.
The two hold her steady.

“She was in her cell crying for help when we found her. It looks like she can't move because of something.” The man says.

“We couldn't just leave her here, not with what's happened to her.” The woman furrows her brown worriedly, “We'll help you take her out of here. We'll be better at carrying her anyway.”

The man nods, “You're looking like shit yourself kid. We got this.”

With a close of your eyes, you withdraw your hand from Helia as she ceases the hex's punishment. You feel the dull ache of rage well within your being, punished lightly by the preacher's curse. “Thank you,” through grit teeth and clenched fist, “Come on, this way.” You turn and lead them, running in pace with their two man trot.

The partitions stop closing behind you again and you feel someone bad coming from behind you, immediately guiding the two to make a swift turn around the corner. End of the hall here is beset by one of the bulkheads, no way back.
Switching over your vision to the astral, you see around 50 meters behind you, there are three enemies giving chase. The rest of the prisoners are down the hall on the way to the exit...

Not really related to the vote, but do you have the Total LIMIT spent worked out and are you going to only count pure LIMIT for that or are you also going to count things like LuciLIMIT and such?
>>
>>33950281
I can't remember if we had to pay 1 for Alchemy or not. We're at 22 spent if not, 23 if yes.

If we want to count the Chakras as costing something since we had to pass up on LuciLIMIT points to get them, then we're closer to 30.

We haven't spent any LIMIT to do crazy shit in-game yet, but would those also count towards the Total LIMIT Spent count, Dran?

“Can either of you two fight?” You whisper low and quiet while you watch the oncoming hostiles through the astral.

“Um, I can fight, but not sure if I could deal with-”

You quickly place a finger over your lips to signal for silence as the three of you hug the wall closely.

“Escapees dead ahead. Dervish units, engage non-lethal takedown.” You hear commanded from the leader of the small squad as two of the less prominent astral signatures close in. Tuning back into the mundane, you see two small bodies fly by at breakneck speed, one of them turning their head to check your hall.
Everyone's still, and your blood freezes over like hell for the quarter-second that it looks.

You tune back into the astral, and you see no change in their route. Did the thing not see you or something?

The handler whisks past at a human trot, not bothering to look down your corridor. Once past, the partition behind them closes, and the one next to you opens, your friend giving you a new way.

Without a moment to lose, you take it.

“What were those things? Too fast to be human, were those dogs?”

“Might as well be,” you say back to the two. “Far as I know, they're clones. They don't think much though.” Another partition opens up and the three of you keep going with Helia in tow. Eventually you make it to what looks like an aircraft hangar filled with machines of dubious and highly unusual make.

You'd never seen or heard of some of the things here. Most of the crafts seem to have upturned wings, hybrid jets and propellers, one even looks like a half-finished giant mech straight out of some kind of movie.

The intercom bleats above to all of the weary escaped prisoners that just ran for their lives. There's heavy static in the background, “Get onto the VTOL numbered thirteen. We're taking off shortly. Hurry!”

As he finishes, you feel Nora's presence rest upon your shoulder. ~Seems that we're almost out, mind if I have a little fun?~
>>
(What do you have in mind?)

~Oh, nothing HARMless.~ She giggles. ~Just a bit of bad luck for the other aircraft here.

(Do it) you give here the okay and she flits from one craft to another, doing what she does as far as making each one a fucking death trap. Smiling, you're punished for the thought of violence, wincing out of it. You grab hold of the man's shoulder, the one that's carried Helia this far, “Hey, what's your name?”

“John, John Cons-”

“Okay John, you gotta help me out just a bit more okay? In a few seconds I'm going to start convulsing like crazy. Help me the rest of the way outta here, okay?”

The man seems confused, leering warily, “What do you-”

Nora's contract-based withdrawal kicks in, and you tense up as the paralytic pain courses through your body, bringing you to your knees as you bear the brunt of the hex's backlash.
The man hoists you up in your dim awareness, driving onward to the VTOL.

You slowly recover from the pain, enough to hear a gunshot ring out through the hall, a flash of bright green following its wake as a fucking treacherous assh- you grit your teeth again at the thoughts of violence.

The kid waves on as two small bodies whiz past him, running at rabid, breakneck speeds. The platinum hair of the human-shaped dogs driving ahead for you.
“Nonlethal takedown! We want them alive!” A traitor calls back after them, as they acknowledge the order with a wordless yell as they near your straggling little pack, the rest are still far off an onward.

“Hey, run faster.” You say with an exhausted sigh. Already, you figure that it's little use with the way that those things move, they're insanely fast, faster even than the wraiths.

Slung over the shoulder of the man, you raise up your middle finger to express your distaste of opinion for his new line of work.
Your head is actually rather clear of animosity, the pain sending you on the brink of a nirvana fluttering in and out of unconsciousness tethered by sheer force of will.
As you yell at him, it's just surreal, “Nice to see you on the other side Hot Rod! They all know what you're doing!”

The kid with the gun-arm halts and stares at you, his eyes wide as a deer's in the head-lights. He's hesitating. Whether its your words, or recognizing you, he falters. But those damn clones on your ass aren't.

“Oh god no, I don't want to go back there!” The woman turns around, looking to the oncoming attackers, her eyes and body flesh a dark muted green, as she shakes her head, running fast and harder with Helia in piggyback.
Out of a dull curiosity you switch over to your astral sight as you command Nora to impede the attackers.

You notice a strange wave of color wash backwards, and in your own mind feel a tinge of worry afflicting you. The targets you notice, have little to no change on their pursuit, then again, it's a bit hard to tell with how little they seem to be aware of themselves.
In fact, it's almost like they're not even there.

Mundane sight confirms that they're no illusion though. Nora sweeps past them and they immediately turn to attack each other mid-stride, they halt right before connecting and tumble clumsily to the ground.

The pain from Nora's quick spell is brief, and absolutely welcome from the time that she just bought with that confusion.

“Wait, Asher! You can join us! They'll forgive everything we've done! The followers are just using you man!” Hot Rod pleads with you from afar as you stare back at him from Mr. John's shoulder.
>>
>>33952538
The thing is, you know he's right. But just because he's right doesn't mean that you can join these people. You can't join them because you'll never be loved by Lucia if you do. Part of you knows that she's just using you too, but hey. It beats being a government dog.

The clones get up, and they're frothing at the mouth, something in them just broke, they actually look really fucking mad, inhuman even. The way that their faces and eyes are twisted up into pure undiluted bestial rage sends streaks of panic running through you.
“Hurry up, hurry up!”

You're almost to the VTOL, but there's still the problem of actually flying this thing out.

The Hangar door begins to open and a masked man walks through, wreathed by flames and a violet-red glow. For a moment, you feel that all hope is lost. He takes a flask and tilts his head back, drinking away at something. As he puts it away, the flames grow and darken, billowing out not just fire, but a crude smoke.

This is it. There's no way out now.

With a flash of flame, the pain passes by, moving at absolutely absurd speeds, pausing just enough to give a reassuring word, “Go.”
It's the same voice as the one from the intercom, you realize as his pass singes your hair and the smoke burns your nostrils.

This is the man that's run the prison break.

A streak of flame is his body as he appears before the two beserking clones that immediately beset him with furious, rabid strikes. They catch naught but flames as he weaves around their frenzy blows like a work of art and plants single digits of a dubiously high degree through their skulls, putting them down.
Walking forward and tightening one of his gloves, he closes in on Hot Rod whom makes the mistake of pointing his gun-arm at the man.
>>
>>33952567
The man is undeterred as he casually walks towards the kid. You can't hear what they're saying, but Hot Rod's panicking, shaking his head and keeping his rifle steady. Eventually he stops and stares Hot Rod with such intensity that the kid turns and scrambles back through the door.
With an explosive burst of power and the wave of a hand, the door is melted shut with a great conflagration of flames.

As you enter the VTOL and settle in with everyone else, a woman sits in the cockpit wearing a blue mask reminiscent of a crescent moon with a single tear coming down from an eye. As soon as she sees you, you can feel her eyes lock on. With a turn she gets situated in the cockpit, pulling down a mic and engaging the intercom.

“Now that everyone is on board, please make sure that you're seated and fasten your seat belts. If someone is unable to fasten their seat-belt, please assist them. In the event of emergency, leave things to your pilot, and the man of fire and smoke just outside, we'll ensure your safety.
Please rely on us.”
Her voice is subtle and to the point, everything about her inherently relaxing and dependable with the way that she carries herself. Anyone that might've been panicking or fearful earlier's now calmed down and buckling up.
The residual tingles of your hex fade and you're able to buckle yourself as the VTOL starts. Helia looks over to you with a smile showing off the faint scars of her glasgow, “Asher...”

“It's okay Helia. We're getting out of here.”
>>
>>33952587

The VTOL's engines warmed, it pulls out as bursts of flame fan out, deterring pursuit. If only he'd known what you had Nora do. You smile, laughing a bit to yourself as you content yourself with your window view.

Overs just file out and that guy subdues them all, doesn't look like he's doing that finger trick that he used on the clones though, that was just brutal. What'd he do? Fry their brains out?
You watch the man, trying to ascertain what he is. He's fast, and he's sending out flame like he's got plenty for everyone. His power only comes out in brief flashes though, as though he's specifically conserving his magic... A vein wouldn't need to do that. But they get infected. A nerve could definitely cast out fire like that, but he moved crazy fast. A Bone? But then how's he using fire like that?

You think he's...

With the inconsistencies of this man, you switch over to astral sight to try to figure this out. As far as you know, this man could be something else, a high ranked summon maybe? With the way he's moving you wouldn't rule that out. A bone seems likely too, but one that can move -that- fast?

The interior of the hangar is a great blot of empty colors and patchwork, and obscured even more as the astral realm is pulled into the man's burning body, creating a great avatar, a demonic presence of smoke and fire... Yet there's something that's holding it back, a single thread from the demon to your very own pilot, thin as a hair, a single line of shimmering blue lassoed around the thing.

Is... she controlling it? No, she's not even spiritually active right now...

You come out of the sight, it's hard to look at anything here when it's so bent and dismal. The VTOL fires off, exiting the hangar and immediately entering vertical flight for a swifter launch, rocketing away at speeds that press everyone back into their seats.

The transition takes at least a few minutes, and you begin to wonder at a point whether or not that man's staying behind or coming with. Then you notice some smoke coming off of the wing, and look out to see the burning man crouched there, his flames quickly whisking away into the air as rests with two feet and a hand securely melted into the chassis.

It looks like he's going to ride on the outside.
>>
>>33953164
But you're safe. Everyone's safe. The night sky lies above you with the concert of endless colors dimly lighting the earth. The thing rocks for a moment, but eases off as it hits cruising altitude. By that time, the woman comes back, her hands raised up high as she nods to some of the passing people that thank her.
Graciously she nods to each one until she comes to you. With a look from beyond her moon-shaped mask, stares you in the eye, “I'll be with you in a moment. I need to talk to you.” She says, with her voice altered into something of a sing-song harmonic.

“Don't have much of a choice, do I?” You say with a disarmed and tired smile as she walks away, disappearing through a hatch in the floor.

“Sounds pretty right. Wouldn't mind to have the attention of a lady like that.” John comments from the side, a little smile from him, “Then again, you're already spoken for, aren't you?”

You look to Helia and your smile persists, a bit more real. She's been there for you. But when you think of your “lady,” it's not her. “You could say that.”

There's another rock of the plane and the man on the wing disappears. A nervous vein runs through you for a moment as you realize that there's no pilot. That's when you remember that there's autopilot.

I want more summon contracts that aren't shit. As for Gods, nope. Done with that. Asherah was enough. Lucy is enough.
>>
>>33954016
That's a major part of it, we love her after all.

But we have other goals, like survival, not getting too injured, gathering minions, staying in good with the Followers, and so on and so forth. And not all of these will necessarily work well with Lucia's requests, or the fallout from said tasks.
>>
>>33954081
Agree with this.
Does someone has a list of things we can summon?
>>
“So, how'd the boys in blue get you? Seems like you were taking in pretty, uh, recently?” Your voice is still a bit hoarse, could kill for a glass of water with how dry it is. Food too, but your stomach is practically sticking to itself...

“Ah,” John leans back in his seat, adjusting to the subtle bounce and hum of this machine. “Well, it weren't nothing too exciting to be honest. Just having a bit of a wrong turn of luck, bill collectors breathing down my neck, no money to feed the sharks and me one bit a comfort up and threatening to kick me out ah me house.
Next thing I know, my eyes flash some bit o' color an' here I am shipped off to a place that'd make crazies in asylum more'n a bit bashful.”

You chuckle a bit at that, as much as you can, “Ah yeah, I hear that. First thing I'm doing is throwing myself in the nearest lake Tahoe anywhere around here? I'll take the Great Salt Lake even, don't even care.”

John takes his turn to laugh, “Yeah, that's what you want if you want to finish your transformation into a prune.”

“I look like shit don't I?” Helia whimpers pathetically, crying a little bit at her sudden self-consciousness.

“Nah, love, yer just a bit under the weather. Yer man still loves ya right?” John gives her a reassuring grin, patting her head a little bit. “So, since we're sharing stories, where'd the two of you get yourselves caught from?”

You anticipated this question and take a moment to process it, “We were at the beach, Helia and a couple of our other friends. Wave hit and wiped the whole thing away. We survived- somehow. When the blue came for us, we didn't really understand what was going on.” You shrug at that. “And what about you?”
>>
>>33954141
You direct the question to the woman that helped with Helia. While John's a white man of blonde hair, this woman's of dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. Her skin bearing a recently fading tan.
She rubs an arm affectionately at the question, “Uhm, well... I've kind of got some phobias. Skipped out on my medication for a bit because I thought I was getting better and I didn't exactly have money, thought I could deal with a bit of OCD on my own. That was until I couldn't leave the house without washing my hands fifteen times – again and then I got an infestation of mold that I'd looked over. They came for me when I freaked out trying to refill my prescription because I thought I was really going crazy. Told me everything was okay.” She shrugs, and kind of trembles into a smile.
“Funny thing though, I feel a lot better, at least right now...”

“Huh.” You nod with a scholarly understanding. “So, what're your names again?”

“John Constantinople mate, pleased to meet you...”

You consider it for a moment, to change your name here and now from the one that you've associated with the followers. For your own reasons you decide to do it. It's been your name, you like your name, but it belongs to them now, and if any of them hear it, they'll know who you are.

“Faust,” you say, offering John your hand.

His brow furrows a little at that, “Oh, that so? Thought I heard this lass call you different?”

“Nicknames, I tended to start a lot of fires when I was younger, name kind of stuck.” That answer seems to satisfy John.

“My name is, uh, Elena. Elena Grove” The brunette introduces herself, offering up a hand despite the story she just told. You move from John to take hers as well.

“Nice meeting you both.” You say, “And thank you for getting Helia out of there. Don't think I could've managed it on my own.

“Ah, no problem. Couldn't leave a young lady t' fend for herself after all.”

The woman with the moon mask comes back up through the hatch, followed by the burning man, that's noticeably not on fire anymore. You can see now that he's got darker skin, and that his mask bears image akin to an eclipsed sun. Without a word to all the people they just liberated the two of them head straight to the cockpit.

You note that their clothes are both very much coverall and almost formal in a way. The man's garb is mostly shades of black and red, tight yet flexible enough to move well with his body. The woman's wearing shades of blues and whites. Obviously less of a stealthy approach as she stands to be something of a polar opposite to this man.

Your nostrils catch the stink of gasoline as the man passes by you, halting enough to turn his head to regard you through the peripheral of his mask, “We should have left earlier. If that whole place had woken up we'd be S.O.L.” His words bear accusation and a bit of distaste for you.

“Suppose I chose to look a gift horse in the mouth. What was I supposed to do? The usual asshole that came on over that mic liked screwing with me.” You say with a completely calm demeanor to prevent the trigger of the hex. You feel like shit but hell, right now- you're flying.

“Enough.” The Blue Masked Woman cuts in, leaning over to put a hand upon your shoulder, “We need you in the cockpit with us. We have some questions to ask- if that would be alright.” Her harmonic voice is like a soothing, humming melody. Sweet to your ears and lingering with no hurry of letting go.

You already like her quite a bit more than the man.

With a shift, you find Helia's hand wrapping around your own, “Ah- F-Faust. Please don't go quite yet.”

>[] “It'll be fine, just a few minutes.”
>[] “You heard her, we can talk later can't we? I'm tired.”

>>

"Could I get some water, and a chance to gather my thoughts first? It's been a trying couple weeks? I think. Time gets kinda wonky when the scenery never changes."

Stay with Helia for a few minutes, hold her hand right back, see if there's anything she needs/wants right now, show her some affection. Also seriously, gather our thoughts, mentally review things they'll probably want to ask about and what we've learned.

Then go and answer their questions .

Can we do this? I like the idea of her being a moody little fairy walkie talkie.
>>
“You heard her. We can talk later can't we? Little tired from the emaciation and running for my life for quite a bit.” You say politely to the woman, speaking to her over the man.

“I see.” She nods, drawing back and standing tall once more, as much as is possible with her diminutive stature. Now that you think about it, she couldn't be more than five feet, while the man beside her towers a bit over you even.

“And... could I trouble you for some water? Been a trying couple of week- I think. Time gets a bit out of hand when the scenery never changes.”

“I'll see if there's any on board. We did not exactly plan for this exodus to require immediate nourishment. That was shortsighted of me.” She inclines her head rather graciously, ready now to turn away.

“Oh, and...” You grip Helia's hand a bit more firmly, “Thank you. The rescue is much appreciated... The names of my saviours are...”

“Need to know basis.” The man and the woman both say at once. They don't acknowledge the occurrence like it's anything unusual.

“I'm going up to the cockpit to keep an eye on things. Do what you do with people.” The red man speaks to the woman before turning away, heading to the bridge.

“Bit of a sour one, isn't he?” John chuckles after the man's left.

“You have little idea,” The woman heads to the back to seek supply.

(Hey Nora, follow the guy.)

~Ehhh, I'd rather not.~

(What?)

~He can touch me, I don't like that. He snatched me right out of the ether! Can you believe that? He didn't even let me go till he had to start fighting!~

(So, what can he do? You see?)

~It was fuzzy since he drained a lot of the vision layer... But I'm pretty sure he turned into fire and smoke. You even saw that part too, right? But I mean, it got really blurry. I wasn't she he was even a person anymore!~

Relaxing in your seat, you let the low hum of the VTOL soothe your cursed soul and withered body. Helia's and in yours you move a bit closer, and she does the same. Her gaunt body a sore sight on the eyes... But you'll get better. This is definitely an improvement from the imprisonment.

Closing your eyes, you let yourself sleep and your projection free.

In the mundane your body is cuddled against Helia. In the Ether however, you report your freedom to Lucia.

She smiles, a stunning smile with those pearly whites and ocean blue eyes. “And so it begins. These people have it out to change the world in a way much unlike the Followers.” She draws you toward her with the crook of a finger as she reclines upon her luxurious bed.
Crawling atop her, you breath down like a mutt that has a need to rut, she places a finger upon your lips, quieting your perverse thoughts- but for just a moment.

“A man like a demon and a woman like a saint. Are they not the most curious pair? Is it not as though one has the other wrapped around a finger-tip?” She twirls her finger around a lock of your hair, pulling you down unto her breast, her other arm wrapping around you, petting her fingers through her hair with a sardonic grin.

“Which is destined for greater things I wonder? And perhaps you'll find them agreeable?”

You settle in the home that is Lucia's bust, “You know that I'll do whatever I must to please you. Say the word, I'm free to do whatever you wish.”

“Then... I wish, for you to find what is right for you. I rebel against such a thing as define truth, so long as you oppose the order of corrupt masters I will support you. Though I'd still like that priest dead...”

“Sorry, this hex is.”

“Soon to be damned. Just wait.” Lucia says, “Just wait.”

Sorta? Not really?

Summoning/conjuring are very closely related.

Program a thoughtform as a magic carpet. Ride on it. Have it battlemode into an efreet 360 degree firearmor.

Add it to the cantrips.
>Knight(Pyro/Hydro+Summoning+Materia Firma)[???]: Use a known elementary spell compatible with Materia Firma to create a programmable suit of elemental power armour around the caster.

I guess Fire would be the more easily creatable form with more offensive power while the Water/Ice one would require water present at the site but it would have more defensive potential and honestly be kinda useless for offense because OotS.

As for what to actually program the thing with, I guess we could save power by having it intercept attacks and harden point of impact with MF instead of being constantly magically hard. Something to let Asher pilot it around like power armour or a mech or something would also be needed.

>>

Some can attain -mancy in other ways, opening of chakras being the easiest. A really smart -kinesis user could potentially match someone using -mancies.
But -mancies will always do more.

>I'm going to try to get Dran to nerf Alchemy again because it will be funny to piss everyone off!
>>
>>33956478
>>33956502
The good news is that this isn't a video game, so it doesn't need to be nerfed into the ground for some nebulous idea of "balance." Also, it was insanely expensive to get. We could probably have Mastered a field already if we focused on something less complicated.
>>
>>33956522
Just speaking my mind, Anon. No need to get angry.
>>
>>33956535
>We could probably have Mastered a field already if we focused on something less complicated.
We could have.

Upping a starting spell to Master takes 30LIMIT. We spent 23LIMIT so far, but we gave up almost 10LIMIT points in order to get the chakra things because those let us learn Geokinesis without a teacher.

We traded away being useful in the early-mid game for the potential to wreck shit later on.

And it's not going to matter at all because Dran is going to scale the difficulty up to what we are capable of. It would have been just as hard with a non-Alchemy build as it will be with Alchemy. The point here is that with Alch, we'll occasionally get to nuke something or make some crazy shit happen and it will be cool.
>>
>>33956596
Yeah, but nobody would confuse Yatagarasu with Ha-Satan.
>>
>>33956609
>Yatagarasu with Ha-Satan.
What?
>>
>>33956634
Yatagarasu is a three-legged crow who champions the sun across the sky, whose favorite food grants immortality, and who gives advice to mortals in need.

Ha-Satan is a hebrew angel whose duty is to tempt the faithful, to ensure they are secure in their faith, and punish those who are not. The singular character of Satan is actually this person, and the name Satan refers generally to any enemy of Tetragrammaton.

Luci also introduced with Loki's name, and he has a similar title, but in the end Loki was actually a decent guy until missionaries and film crews came in and mucked everything up a couple times.
