You are a young human doctor, abducted by the K'tulu, and recently released by demand of the Galactic Senate. Last night you met up with Mister Jusar Tanis, who expressed interest in hiring your team on as freelancers for an expedition he's funding. After hashing out the details he informed you that a representative would meet you this afternoon to hire you and the rest of your team on officially

Also, for those of you interested, here's what I got so far for the pastebin. I kind of wanted to finish it before starting the thread, but I think it would probably take too long for that to happen.

One more addition before we start the thread proper, I'm going to have to leave at some point during the thread, and I'll probably be gone for a few hours, but I promise that I'll be back to finish it up, hopefully within a reasonable time-frame. Alright, now on to more important things.

A warm breeze blows through the open window across the room from you, making the curtains dance while it carries the sounds of morning commuters and holo-screen billboards along with it, rousing you slowly from your heavy sleep. Staring up at the ceiling for a few moments, you blow out a long sigh while a satisfied smile spreads across your face at the memories from last night. You take a few more seconds to let the haze from sleep wear off before pushing yourself up off of Angelicia's couch and stretching, your eyes searching unsuccessfully to find both your shirt and your friend while you pull your suit pants back on.

Before you can give the search too much thought the smell of the shitty coffee-substitute included in your ration packs reaches your nose along with another much sweeter smell, drawing you towards the kitchen. Rounding the corner you blink in surprise at the sight of Angelicia standing behind the stove in your half-buttoned shirt and adding what looks an awful lot like a pancake to a small stack of them on the plate to her left. A bright smile flashes onto her face as she sees you approaching, "He lives!" She quips happily while turning the burner on the stove off and turning her full attention to you, "You know, Doc, for a supposedly great warrior you sleep like a rock."

Ignoring her teasing in favor of staring disbelievingly at the golden brown discs on the counter, you blink at her again in absolute wonder, "Are those...pancakes?" You ask, looking every bit as dumbfounded as you feel as you stare at her, "Like REAL pancakes?"
(Continued)

The mechanic grins widely as she turns to grab another plate from the cabinet above her, the hem of your shirt riding just a little further up her legs as she does so, "Yep! Well...kind of, obviously the milk and eggs aren't what we're used to, and I'm pretty sure they're going to be a bit sweeter than normal, but other than that it looks like they turned out okay." She explains proudly while splitting the stack between the two plates before grabbing both of them off the counter and bouncing over to offer you one.

You eagerly accept the plate and follow your friend to her table after grabbing a fork, though as you sit down a curious expression crosses your face, "Wait, how long ago did you wake up? What time is it?" You ask while starting to cut up the fluffy delicacies in front of you.

Your friend doesn't immediately answer, instead scrunching her nose in displeasure as she takes a swig of the substandard coffee in her mug followed up by a large piece of pancake, once she's finally finished chewing and swallowing she gives you a thoughtful look, "I've probably been up for about an hour." She replies shortly, pausing to take another bite of her breakfast, "Pretty sure it's just about eleven now."

You blink in surprise once again as you swallow a larger bite of food than you'd meant to, "Eleven? Holy crap, I haven't woken up this late in years..."

Angelicia nods in agreement shortly before a smirk crawls across her face, "Well, I guess to be fair you did have a very...productive night. Of course if you want to make up for waking up so late..." She says teasingly, a suggestive glint in her eye as she looks you up and down, though before you can even answer she bursts out into a minor fit of giggles, "No...we need to get ready for the meeting here soon...though it is tempting."

"We could always just skip the meeting and ignore anybody who comes calling." You shoot back with a suggestive grin of your own, only to receive a derisive snort in response.
>>
>>34188971
"What, and lose a chance at getting paid to go exploring the ruins? Come on, Doc, even you're not that good."

"Not what you were saying last night..."

A small blush grows on the mechanic's cheeks at your response, even as she rolls her eyes, "God, you're such an ass, Doc..."

You're entirely unable to resist the smirk that pulls at your lips as you launch back your retort, "You know, I've noticed that you seem to have a thing for my butt. I never thought it was all that great myself, but if you're-"

Angelicia blows out a very convincing sigh of frustration, though the amusement that's dancing in her eyes gives her away, "God, you really don't know when to shut up, do you?" She asks while shaking her head incredulously, though after a few moments she seems to calm down as a contemplative look crosses her face.

Raising an eyebrow at her sudden change in demeanor, you set your fork down on your mostly empty plate, "What's up, Angel?"

A couple of seconds of silence pass before she lets out another sigh, meeting your eyes as she does so, "Do we need to talk about what happened last night? I mean...it was great, obviously." She says, embarrassed smile playing across her lips, "But...well, what I'm trying to ask is what exactly do you want to do from here? I mean, are you seriously interested in me or are we just friends...don't get me wrong, I understand completely if you're not wanting to make things complicated but, I just...want to know where we're standing." She finishes, chewing on her lip somewhat nervously as she looks across the table at you.
(3/4)
>>
>>34188997
Ah...right, even knowing that you should have expected this, you're thrown slightly off guard by her question. Still, it's entirely fair and, especially as your friend, she deserves a straight answer from you if you can give her one, right? Returning her gaze from across the table you think about what she's asked you, wondering yourself exactly where you want to take this. You could tell her that you just want to be friends still, and she'd probably accept it, but you're pretty sure that she wouldn't be particularly thrilled about it. You could also tell her that you really are interested in her, though it's probably best that you only tell her that if you're actually serious about it, otherwise it would probably cause troubles down the road...of course you could always just admit that you're really not sure what you want, and ask her what, if anything, it is that she's hoping for here.

What do you want to say?
>Tell her that you just want to be friends, it's less complicated that way.
>You're serious about this, you really do want to see where this might go.
>You're not entirely sure yet...ask her what she wants to do.
>Write-in.
>>
>>34189025
>You're entirely sure yet...ask her what she wants to do.

I'm all for sticking with her, but I think we should just see what she thinks about this before anything else.
>>
>>34189025
>Write-in
Tell her that we're not entirely sure yet and just want to keep it friends for now; aside from us having just met a week ago, and we WERE backed up for a couple months, there's still Abi to consider.
>>
>>34189025
>We're not entirely sure...

I want to stick with her, but like these guys said we need to sit back and think about this for a while. I'm sure she'll understand, she might even prefer it that way.
>>
Looks like I'm writing to talk it over with her a bit.
We'll be getting away from Angel for a while here in a bit, in case any of you are getting a bit tired of her.
>>
A contemplative expression washes over your face as you sit back in the chair, "I'm not really sure, Angel, to be honest." You sigh, leading her to eye you curiously, "I can't just pretend that last night didn't happen, and you're right it was a lot of fun, but in all seriousness we just met a week and a half ago..." You finish, not really sure what to expect as you trail off at the end, though the relieved smile that flashes across her face certainly isn't it.

"I'm honestly glad to hear that..." She breathes out, before a small laugh escapes her at the look on your face, "I'm not saying that I don't like you or anything like that, Doc, it's just that you're right. Really, and please don't take this the wrong way, even as great as last night turned out it probably wouldn't have happened quite like that if it wasn't for the fact that both of us were locked up for months on end."

You can't help but let out a small laugh at her reasoning, even if it does put a small dent in your ego, "I understand completely, Angel, I'm just glad we're on the same page here." You reply with a small smile, before letting it fall just a little, "So...is that it then? You just want to let it drop and keep being friends like we were before?"

The mechanic nods in agreement before adopting a slightly suggestive smirk, "Well...maybe not exactly the same as before, but close enough. I know that I definitely wouldn't mind seeing where this might go....but for now I think it's best if we just say that we're really good friends and leave it at that."

You make a show of rolling your eyes at her suggestion before letting out a long suffering sigh, "I knew it, you just want to keep me around for my body." You reply indignantly, drawing another bout of laughter from your friend, unfortunately before she's able to reply your conversation is interrupted by the shrill chime of the hotel room's door bell.

Angelicia lets out a frustrated growl at the interruption, "What the hell? It's still too early for the rep to be here." She mutters as she pushes herself out from the table, dropping her plate in the sink on the way to the door to look through the peephole. "Huh...it's Reece and Tobias, I wonder what they want."

You blink in surprise as you follow her into the living room before shrugging at her questioning look, "Well...no clue about Tobias, but maybe Reece wants to ask how the meeting went?" You suggest glancing around the room for your tie as you do so, "Only way we'll find out is if you let them in."

Your friend shakes her head in response, "Maybe...can't really see why he wouldn't of just called though." She replies before shrugging and hitting the button to unlock the door, "I guess we might as well see."

Almost as soon as the door opens Julius pushes his way into the room, past an indignant Angelicia, "Hey, Angel, have you seen Jack? He isn't in his room an-" The swordsman stops mid-sentence as he suddenly takes in the state of the room, as well as both your and Angelicia's barely clothed forms. "Oooooh....uh hi, Doc, you seem...relaxed." He manages to get out, stumbling over his words slightly as he stares at the two of you wide-eyed.

A grin spreads across your face at the shocked look on Reece's face as well as the murderous one in the mechanic's eyes, "Good morning to you too, Reece." You reply with a small nod, only for your expression to turn significantly less amused as a small form rushes through the door and hurdles into your midsection.

"Doc! We've been looking for you everywhere!" Lizzie practically shouts up at you from her position of being latched around your waist, "Why weren't you in your room?" The little girl asks demandingly.

>"Why weren't you in your room?"
This is easy enough to answer:
"Angelica found some of the local eggs and milk, and she wanted me to taste-test her pancakes to make sure they're okay.
"And, uh, guys. You COULD have just called. Got an in-ear cellphone, remember?"
>>
>>34190844
>Got an in-ear cellphone, remember?
We should really consider getting an upgrade and proper installation when we get a chance.
This thing is basically jury-rigged onto the side of our head, and is an outdated model.
A better unit, with expanded memory and more functions, and that's properly installed so that there's less chance of infections and complications, should be near the top of our shopping list.

Blinking down at the little girl you struggle to come up with a reason for being here other than your true purpose, "I ah...well..." You mutter, stumbling over your words just as much as the swordsman before you.

"It appears that we've arrived at a poor time..." Tobias deadpans, drawing a curious gaze from his little sister, though thankfully Angelicia's manages to force her way back into the conversation before he can continue.

"Jack was just uh...having a sleepover with me after our meeting last night because I wanted to make pancakes this morning and I needed somebody to taste test them for me." The mechanic tells the girl, making you wince just a little at the poor excuse while Reece covers up a his laugh with a cough.

"Yeah, I bet he tasted something..." He snickers, though his amusement is short-lived as both you and Angelicia direct glares at him.

Luckily, despite the improbability of your friend's excuse, Lizzie seems to have bought into it, "Oh...aww, but you didn't invite me! I want to have a sleepover with you and Doc too!"

The buzzing sound of Tobias' laughter is unmistakable as Angelicia groans at continued questions from the little girl before you let out a short chuckle of your own, "We'll keep it in mind next time, Lizzie, but we had to make sure that the pancakes were good first, right?"

A bright smile spreads across your little friend's face at your answer, "Okay! I want to help make the pancakes when we do!" She says happily before finally letting go and making her way over towards Angelicia to give her a hug as well.
[Continued. Sorry these are taking even longer than normal guys, dealing with a few distractions over here, nothing major but yeah.]

well at least it is not the little cousin again
>>
You let out a quiet sigh of relief as Lizzie starts peppering the mechanic with her questions rather than you, giving you a chance to turn your gaze on Reece and Tobias, fixing both of them with a somewhat annoyed look, "So guys, what's so important that you thought you needed to come knocking on Angelicia's door to find me instead of calling me? You know, with the cell phone implanted in your heads?" You ask pointedly, crossing your arms across your chest as you do so.

Julius offers you an apologetic smile at the question as he shakes his head, "Sorry, man, I don't like using that thing, it makes my vision all fuzzy every time I mess with it. Besides, I didn't think that I would actually find you here like...well, this."

You raise an eyebrow at his explanation before letting out a sigh, "Fine...that's probably for the best then. Look, cybernetics isn't really my field, but if you want I might be able to take a look at that thing for you, I'm not going to mess with it too much though." You offer, receiving a shrug from him as a response.

"Sure, if you want to, I guess. I just figured that I'd just not use it unless I have to until I manage to get a new one."

You nod in understanding at him, before turning your attention back on your other friend, "So that explains him, what about you?"

The cyborg cocks his head in amusement at your annoyed tone, "I didn't need to call you. I already knew where you were." He says, as if it's the most natural thing in the world, before continuing as you just blink at him in confusion. "This hotel's security is a joke...did you know that there are cameras in every room in the building except the bathrooms?"

Both your and Julius' eyes widen in shock, your face coloring as you realize exactly what he's saying, "You didn't..."

"I didn't what?" He suited cyborg asks in as smug a voice as is possible for him, "I have no idea what you're talking about...oh I also made sure to erase the hotel's footage. You and Angel can thank me later."

A low groan escapes your lips as Reece just stares on at the cyborg in disbelief, "Dude...that is messed up on so many different levels." He mutters to himself.

Tobias merely shrugs, as if he had been expecting the response before turning his head fully back to you, "At any rate, I came to find you to see if you would be interested in helping me out with something. I found a job, at least a temporary one, here in the city. From what the lady at the bounty office said it should be pretty easy as long as I don't go alone."

Blinking at the cyborg's sudden shift in topics you shake your head in confusion, "Bounty office? Look, Tobias, I appreciate the offer, but I already have a job lined up..."

"I know, Jack, and I'm not asking you to just drop that. This wouldn't be anything more than a few hours work, a day or two at the most. I'd ask Freida if I thought she would accept the offer, but she doesn't really seem to like me all that much, and I'm hoping that Angelicia will watch Lizzie while we're working, so she'd be pretty much out of the equation." He reasons, before shrugging, "Besides, I figured it might be good to have you around in case Julius or the target gets seriously injured."

A thoughtful look crosses your face at his argument...he does make a decent point, you suppose, and it might be nice to get out of the hotel to somewhere other than the shopping district for a change. Maybe you don't have to decide right this second, but you could at least hear him out...of course on the other hand it might be better to just concentrate on preparing for the expedition. After all it wouldn't do any good for you to spread yourself too thin.

Hey, right on time! Hooray.
>>
A short chuckle escapes you at the realization of just how cartoonish your conversation with the cyborg would seem if you were still back on Earth, "So you want me to be your side kick basically?" You ask with a grin as you see him cock his head in amusement himself.

"Of course not, Jack, you're one of the heroes in a team-up movie." He replies calmly, shortly before turning his gaze on Reece, "He's the side kick."

"Hey! How the hell am I the side kick? I'm the guy with the sword! People with swords are never side kicks!" Julius shoots back indignantly, drawing the strange mixture of a buzzing laugh from Tobias and a chuckle from you, before huffing indignantly as you move on.

You pause to give your friend's offer a few more seconds of thought before you nod, "Alright, how about this; I've got to get ready for the meeting with Talis' rep here soon, but after that the only other thing I really need to do today is run my helmet down to Pa'tque's. How about you come with me and we can talk more about it then?"

Tobais nods at the suggestion, "That sounds like a good plan to me. I'll talk to Angelicia about watching Lizzie then." He replies in the closest he can manage to an enthusiastic voice.

Just as the two of you nod in agreement Lizzie comes running back over towards the three of you, followed closely by the mechanic, "What's up, guys? I heard you say something about me watching Lizzie?"
[Continued.]
>>
The little girl looks back and forth between your two friends for a few seconds in confusion before her eyes light up in excitement, "Am I going to get to spend the night with Angel?!" She asks her eyes shining hopefully as she looks up at her brother.

The cyborg inclines his head, turning to look at the punk for confirmation, "That's up to her, Lizzie, I was just going to ask her if she could watch you for a little bit while Jack and I talk about my new job." He explains.

Angelicia cocks an inquisitive eyebrow at you for a moment until you shrug in return, before giving her own shrug and nod, "Well I don't see why not, but I do have a meeting here in an hour or two, same goes for Reece and Doc...now that I think about it I should probably call the others and tell them about it too."

"Probably a good idea, I didn't have any clue about it until just now." Julius replies simply, locking his gaze on your friend's face in an effort to not let it wander below her neck, "So what kind of meeting is this going to be? Do I need to put on my fancy clothes or something?"

She shakes her head at the question, "Nah, probably not. We already decided on terms, the meeting is just to make everything official, and to make sure you guys are alright with how much we're getting paid for the job."

A relieved grin flashes across the swordsman's face at the news, "Awesome, so what time is it supposed to be?"

"I'm not entirely sure...Talis said that his representative would be here sometime around this time though. If you want to go get cleaned up or something I can call you when he gets here." The mechanic offers with a shrug.

A small amount of dismay makes it's way onto his face at her reply though he merely nods before turning and making his way back towards the door, "Alright, I guess I'll do that then. If you don't call then I'll just come back in about an hour." He mutters before flashing a quick smirk at you just before ducking out of the door, "I'll make sure to knock, too."
>>
Both you and Angelicia let out exasperated sighs at his retreating quip, neither of you able to respond further to it before the door slides shut behind him. "Ass..." You mutter under your breath, causing Angelicia to toss you an amused glance shortly before Tobias puts a hand on Lizzies shoulder and lightly nudges her towards the two of you.

"I think that it would probably be best if we let the two of you get ready for your meeting. Go ahead and tell them goodbye, Lizzie." He says, his voice buzzing in his own amusement.

"But we just got here!" The little girl whines, looking up at him in disappointment.

Angelicia laughs and steps forward to pull her into a short hug, "Hey, we'll see each other again soon, we're going to have a sleepover, remember? Wouldn't be good if you went back to your room and made sure everything was ready for that?"

Lizzie's eyes face lights back up at the reminder and she nods quickly, squeezing your friend tightly, running over to do the same to you as soon as she releases her, before turning and latching on to her brother's hand. Tobias' voice buzzes lightly again before he turns to look at you one more time as he leads his sister towards the door, "I'll come and find you once your meeting is over." He says, deflating your mood just a little at the reminder of the cameras before exiting the room.

Just as the two of them step out of the room you see Lizzie look up at her brother curiously, "Tobie, why wasn't Angel wearing any pants?" She asks innocently, totally oblivious of the mortified look on the punk's face as the door slides shut behind her.

To be fair, he said it isn't done yet, and it's obvious that there's still plenty left to go. Besides, I'm liking it well enough so far.

On a different note, where do you guys think we're going to end up going from here?

I kind of think that we may be getting set up for the long game, you know building contacts and crap on our first planet so that we can start doing big league stuff later on. Or at least that's the way it seems with the CEO guy.

Or am I wrong? What do you guys think?

Depending on how this first dungeon goes, I think there's two paths we could take.

Follow the CEO guy up to the end, ddo shit for his company hopefully ME2 style. He tells us what to do, we do it our own way.

Or we can go full solo and take up odd jobs like that bounty hunter thing, go exploe other planet's ruins and such.

As long as we aren't stuck on this planet for too long I'm cool with it, I want to start exploring this universe.

That said if that does happen how long do you want to give it before we up and quit, taking half his shit with us?
Also, depending on how the bounty hunting thing here goes, I think it would be cool to occasionally track down people for him, depending on exactly what kind of people he wants us to find, anyways.

Beating up innocent people to get a paycheck isn't going to happen. Putting a few murdering thugs behind bars or six feet under every once in a while probably wouldn't be too bad though.

As soon as the door seals Angelicia lets out a dismayed groan while clapping her hands over her face in embarrassment, "Oh god, I'm going to end up scarring Lizzie for life!" She moans, her hands slowly sliding down her face as she turns to face you again, "And you helped, damn it!"

You blink in confusion at your friend suddenly turning on you, throwing your hands up in the air defensively, "Wait, me?! How did I have anything to do with this?! You're the one that's running around in nothing but my shirt!" You point out, prompting another horrified groan from the mechanic.

"I know...I'm sorry I just didn't really expect anybody to come by before Tanis' rep, never mind Lizzie." She mutters, taking a deep breath before shaking her head, "I guess it's a good thing you woke up so late after all though, if you hadn't then they'd probably have ended up walking in on something much worse..."

A smirk momentarily appears on your face as you nearly follow up on her comment, only for it to die a quick death as you suddenly remember Tobias' revelation to you. "Ah...speaking of that, you might want to talk to Tobias about seeing if he can turn off the cameras in here." You inform her quietly, doing your best to cover up your own embarrassment with a cough while her mortified expression only deepens.

"What?!"
[Whatever of however many]
>>
You nod slowly, rubbing the back of your head, "Yeah...that's what I said. He told me that he deleted the hotel's footage of...us, though."

Angelicia lets out a low, horrified, groan, "Oh god, you....you don't think he actually watched it do you?" She asks pleading, leading you to avert your gaze the floor in both contemplation and a minor amount of embarrassment, feeling that you probably know the answer to her question.

"..."

"Jack...answer me, please."

"......Can I have my shirt back now? I think we should probably start getting ready for the meeting."

The mechanic buries her face in her hands again, "I'm going to kill that asshole." She grumbles as you approach her and nod as you start undoing the unevenly laced buttons on the shirt.

"Sounds good to me...right after we make him kill all the cameras in both our rooms."
[Time for a time skip. Also this is the last of the stuff I had written, sorry.]
>>
Two hours later, you find yourself sitting back in a cushiony chair around what you are told is one of the nicer meeting tables in the hotel, though to be honest you couldn't really care less about that. In fact, while you know that a lot of the things that the stuffy woman standing on the other side of the table is talking about are important, all you can think about is the fact that you have been stuck in this room for two hours listening to her detail every line of the contract Talis had his people draw up for you and that, aside from her, you are the only person in the room wearing anything remotely resembling anything professional...even if your shirt is horribly wrinkled, smells like booze, and has a couple of lick stick smudges on the collar. "So, in conclusion, the only thing that you are agreeing to upon signing this contract is that in compensation for your work for Mister Talis, he will wire a sum of thirty-two-thousand-five-hundred credits before and after the completion of the expedition to Miss Owens' account to be split among yourselves however you see fit. Also, while you choice on what you would prefer to keep, your team must collectively sell seventy percent of whatever you find within the ruins to an Antusyc Arms representative."

You barely manage to keep a bored groan from escaping your lips as the representative repeats herself in a new and unexciting way for the third time. You're thankful for the distraction as Abigail leans towards you from her seat on your left, "I don't zink zat she took a single breath zat entire time!" She whispers in your ear, seemingly unsure whether she should be astonished or amused.
[Continued.]
>>
A small chuckle escapes from you, which you quickly try to cover up with a cough as the straight-laced woman looks over to you, arching an unamused eyebrow at your interruption, though thankfully she chooses not to comment on it in favor of refocusing her attention on Angelicia who, not surprisingly, looks just as bored as you do. "Is that correct, Miss Owens?" She asks haughtily, stiffening her posture as she has to wait for your friend to blink in the sudden realization that she's being addressed.

"Oh, uh...yeah, that sounds about right." The punk replies, nodding quickly as she sits back up in her chair and tries to play it off as if she hadn't been caught ignoring the businesswoman. "So...we're good to sign these, right? I'm not seeing any more fine print here...." She mutters, trailing off momentarily as she scans the contract in front of her again while the representative does her best to hold in a frustrated sigh of her own.

"Yes, Miss Owens, you are 'good to sign' now that we have been over all the details of your employment. Mister Talis specifically stated that he wanted the contracts to be simple and lenient enough to cover within a short time-span."

Freida sighs openly across the table from you, tapping a finger against her temple impatiently as she does so, "Two hours hardly seems like a 'short time-span' just to tell us how much we're going to get paid and what we have to do with the crap from the ruins." The Israeli mutters, ignoring the less than friendly look that the woman shoots at her before picking the pen in front of her up and going through the motions of signing all the required blocks. "There, done. It was that easy."

Tom rolls his eyes at her foul mood, "Trust me, Freida, this is nothing compared to most of the meetings you have to sit in when you get this high in the bureaucracy." He shoots back at her while the rest of you start signing your own contracts, something you take particular care in as you do so...just in case.
[Continued.]
>>
Thankfully you don't find anything out of line as you re-read the forms one last time before setting your electronic pen back down the table and pushing the contract towards Talis' representative, glad to be rid of the cursed tablet. "Very well, I'm sure that Mister Talis will be very pleased to know that his you are all going to be going on the expedition." She says as she collects the pile of tablets, grumbling something just low enough under her breath that you can't hear it, before turning on her heel and making her way towards the door. "You will all be contacted with instructions on where you should report to twenty-four hours prior to the date that the expedition begins. Good day to you all."

Abigail blinks in surprise at the businesswoman's hasty departure before shaking her head, "Somehow I get ze feeling zat she doesn't like us very much." She states plainly as everybody left around the table starts to push away from it.

You snort derisively as twist to pop your back, "Yeah, well the feeling's mutual." You reply, gaining a muttered agreement from both Freida and Angelicia, while Tom merely shrugs.

"Oh, I dunno, I thought she was nice enough for a stiff-necked suit." He says, drawing a grin from both you and Reece at the comment, before starting to walk around the table towards you, "So, Mister Yarrick...what's this I hear about you and Angelicia not following your own advice last night?" He asks, directing what you're pretty sure is a mock glare at the two of you, though to be honest you hardly care as both you and your friend's own glares snap to Reece.

"What the hell, Julius?" You ask incredulously, leading the swordsman to wince as slight purple hue plays across your eyes momentarily before disappearing.

Reece stumbles over his words for a few seconds before finally managing to find his voice, "What?! Your the ones that answered the door half-naked this morning, not me! I thought that if you done that then you didn't really care who knew!"

Both you and Angelicia let out a pair of frustrated groans, as Tom, Freida, and Abi look on in astonishment, "That is literally the most stupid thing I've heard in weeks! I mean, come on Reece, I like you, but who the hell does that?" You ask him, before taking a deep breath and stopping yourself, holding your hand in a fist in front of your mouth for a few seconds before letting it out, "Alright look, I don't have time for this right now. I have to go get my helmet fixed and talk to Tobias about the bounty he wants my help on, so I'm just going to let you deal with Angelicia for now instead and then, if you're still alive, I'm going to beat the living hell out of you."

Even as frustrated as you are at the swordsman you can't help but marvel at the sight of the color draining from his face as his gaze slowly turns from your furrowed brow to the calm fury playing across the mechanic's face. "W-woah, woah, hey man, you don't need to do that! I'm sorry guys, seriously!" He stutters shaking his head quickly as you start to turn to walk towards the door, ignoring Freida's equally amused and astonished face while Abi slowly starts to follow you, curiosity burning in her eyes.

As you and the redheaded girl walk out of the room you hear Angelicia speak for the first time since your friend spilled the beans, "Alright, Reece, you and me in the boxing ring in fifteen minutes. I'll find you if you don't show up." The last thing you hear before the door closes is the swordsman's groan of dismay.

The only thing that breaks the silence between you and Abigail for the first couple minutes as you walk through the halls of the hotel are your footsteps which, in your opinion, is perfectly fine as it gives you that much more time to let your frustration at your sword-wielding friend die down. Finally though, the French girl's fidgeting gets to you and you let out a soft sigh, "Go ahead and ask, I know you want to."

Abi blinks at you in surprise, almost as if she'd expected you to just ignore her for the entire trip, before letting a hesitant smile find its way to her face, "Okay...so you and Angelicia, zen?" She asks quietly, almost as if she's afraid you'll direct your frustration at her if she says it too loud.

You shake your head in response, "No. Well...not really, I mean yeah we did sleep together, but we're not really sure where to go with it right now. I guess you could just say that for now we're really good friends." You answer honestly, glancing at her with a ghost of a smile.

The redhead blinks again in surprise at your answer, before a relieved smile spreads across her face, "Oh, eet was just sex, zen?" She says, a pleased smile spreading across her face, "Good, eet means I still 'ave a chance, yes? So, 'ow was eet, did she like you?"

Your stumble, almost to a complete stop at her sudden barrage of questions, staring at her in wide-eyed wonder, "W-what?"

"Well come on! I want to know what kind of competition I'm up against 'ere!" She insists, her hands finding her way to her hips as she returns your stare impatiently.

The cogs in your mind turn rapidly, practically going into overdrive as you try to figure out how to answer her, "Well, uh...it was fun, I guess?" You manage to get out before pausing as a revelation occurs to you, "Wait, when you say competition were you talking about her or-"

Even before you finish the sentence you can see Abi's eyes lighting up in laughter at you confusion, "Why can't I be asking about ze both of you?" She giggles, making your eyes widen even further in shock.

You're dumbfounded for several seconds while she grins back at you, until you finally find your voice, "Wait, are you serious?" You ask incredulously.

The redhead lets out a short sigh at you brushing her off, though if she's bothered by it beyond that she doesn't show it, "Alright, I understand, you want to go and get your armor fixed and I'm just sitting 'ere pestering you wiz stupid questions and jokes." She says, offering you a smile before breaking off to head in the opposite direction of you, "I'll see you later, Jack."

A sigh escapes you as you briefly consider stopping her before shaking the thought from your head, realizing that you're already going to show up late at the armorer, courtesy of the unnecessarily long meeting. Instead you turn your attention back towards getting to your room which, thankfully doesn't take much longer. It's impossible to miss the suited cyborg leaning against the wall next to your door as you approach it, "Hey, Tobias, sorry I'm late, the last fifteen minutes have just been more eventful than I'd like." You mutter shortly while pulling your key card from your wallet and swiping it to gain access to your room.

Tobias pushes himself off the wall at your greeting, the way his head cocks showing an unfamiliar emotion to you, "I saw." He replies shortly before letting out a long tone you recognize as his sigh, "Jack, I understand why you're upset, but I think you may be being a bit too hard on Julius."

You cast a vaguely annoyed glance over your shoulder at the cyborg before shaking your head and grabbing the helmet off the table where you have the rest of your suit spread out. "Alright, for the record I'm not upset, I'm just frustrated, and Abi's idea of a joke isn't really helping things either." You shoot back at him, before taking a deep breath in an effort to calm yourself down and not say anything stupid, "But I'll admit that you are right that Angelicia and I probably overreacted just a little bit.

Tobias stares silently for a few moments before declining his head at you, "I can agree with that assessment...though if you're at all interested, I was surprised to see how well Julius is doing. He's still losing, but at least Angelicia has calmed down a bit...I think she might even be starting to have fun."

You let out a small chuckle at the cyborg's report, feeling a little bit of the tension trickle off you as he cocks his head in amusement, "Good...it means that she'll leave enough of him for me to take my turn." You reply, before turning and making your way out of the room, waiting for your friend to follow before turning to go towards the taxi pad. "Alright, so you were wanting to talk to me about this bounty hunting job, right? " You ask, waiting for him to nod before grinning at him, "Well, let's talk about it then."

Does it work for any of you that are still interested if I end it here for the night? Quest is awesome.

You're awesome.

I went to be early, before the quest even popped up, and just finished reading it.

I love waking up to some good reading, and yours is amazing.
>>
I just don't want waifu drama to fuck up the quest that's been great so far, this early in it's lifespan

Yeah...even if he does continue, I don't think it'll ever be quite the same.
I really do hate to be that guy but it probably actually would be better if he just let it die and started something else.

So it only took 10 threads for Galaxy Quest to devolve into Galaxy Waifu Quest, honestly this happened much earlier than I would have hoped and liked.

Fuck...I think that's it guys.

Maybe if he comes up with something else it'll be just as good and won't have all the waifu bullshit? I hope...

Just read Hawktail's twitter

>Learned a couple of valuable lessons in the last few threads. I may take a break from GQ for a while and see if I can apply them elsewhere.

It's over, I think Hawktail might have really wanted to run a Galaxy Waifu Quest.
>>
>>34209114
Either that or thinks that's exactly what it's going to turn into if he keeps going.

Either way I don't think it's coming back. Damn it, I wanted to run around with my badass robot friend and ruin bad people's days.
>>
>>34209114
That's what pisses me off. Let a writer write. Criticize fine, but if your upset with the direction or tone that's all on you and you can find something else.
>>
Well fuck. If it really is over then who's going to run the super awesome space adventurer quest?

To be fair it was a pretty abrupt switch form Space Adventure to rom-com antics.

That's true...but there was also a really long break between thread 8 and 9. Maybe it's just me but none of the newer ones really lived up to the earlier ones.

what the fuck Hawktail, right before we start doing what we have been wanting to do and you end the quest.

It's some grade A bullshit.
>>
Hey guys.

Look, I know that there's not really much I can say that will make you look at me any differently, but I am sorry that I'm just dropping it like this. Honestly I think I fucked it up at the very least in the last thread when I got sidetracked with the whole deal with Angelicia, instead of just keeping things going the way I originally planned.

When I started the quest it was supposed to either be no waifu or at least not one for a long time and then only one, but I obviously didn't follow that. So instead of fun space adventures and bounty hunting and doctoring it devolved into petty drama and typical waifu bullshit. Maybe it's possible to fix it, I don't know. I'll think about it, but honestly I think the options at the moment are to sit back and try and do some major damage control for a while or to just let it die.

Maybe I'm wrong and it's fairly easy to fix and I am just being a little bitch, in which case I'm sorry. I doubt that there's too many people that would follow the quest at this point even if I did try to salvage it, but I'll think about it. Other than that all I've got to say, again, is sorry.

can he have Hypertime happen and we retcon to the choice of having sex?
>>
Why do QMs listen to trolls? Its not hard to see which posts are bait.
>>
>>34210175
The waifu thing was really minor, and it was just a bunch of idiots blowing it out of proportion.
If we had gone straight into the talk about the bounty and getting the helmet repaired, the anti-waifu fuckers wouldn't have been able to get their shitstorm together.
>>
>Hawktail reactivating his twitter.
Fuck man, are we really doing the whole rollercoaster of emotions shit?
Still...if it means that we might be able to keep GQ and retcon out the shit that he thinks will kill it then I'll deal with it.
Don't fuck up again, Hawk.
>>
>>34210291
Honestly as far as the retcon goes, I figure if it happens then it'll be up to a vote between before the whole sex thing at all or just to retcon out all the drama and just say that we signed the paperwork and dealt with the meeting before going and talking to Tobias. Either way works for me, I suppose. The latter seems like it'd be easier to do, but I'll probably leave it up to you guys if I do it.
>>
>>34210390
The only problem was letting there be enough time between story posts for trolls and idiots to talk each other into a froth over nothing.
>>
>>34210463
Just go straight into the dungeon diving. You don't need a retcon.

>Just forget everything with the meeting drama.

Personally think it just makes a better story that way.

Maybe there's some hope after all.
>>
>>34210463
Honestly, a retcon isn't needed. Everyone in the party, aside from Lizzie, is an adult from first world nations, ten years into the 21st Century.
Just get straight to the bounty and the armor repair, and just proceed from there.
>>
>>34210463
Most of the people that would have complained and wanted the retcon are gone and hopefully will stay gone.
They would have just found something else to shitstorm about, and the game is better off without them.
>>
>>34210577
>>34210620
I'm with these guys. There was temporary drama that cooled off pretty quick, that's all that needs to be said. In fact you don't even need to say that, just don't acknowledge it again, beyond the fact that people know that we slept with Angel.

It really isn't a big deal. People were assuming that we were before anyways, remember?
>>
Okay...well now that the shitstorm is over and that Hawktail has finished his meltdown I hope maybe it really can be saved.

>>
>>34209614
Or maybe if you guys hadn't made such a fuss about it, it wouldn't have been an issue. Jesus, guys, it's not drama if you don't act dramatic over it
>>
>>34210463
Dude, you don't need to retcon it. We had sex, it's not a big deal, just try to reaim the focus you had originally intended and don't get worked up over invalid criticism and shit posting. It's only a big deal if you make it a big deal
>>
>>34210463
I am reminded of Shadow Quest, both for the waifu drama and shit posting in general. There was very vocal anti-waifu shit posters, people voted to do romantic things with Abigail anyway, shit was flung, people threw up their hands and left, and the quest went on without major deviation due to the romance.

As a QM, you just have to have thick skin buddy. These things will happen
>>
I really hope this quest is not dead because people couldn't handle one scene they didn't like. It would really pain me to see this quest die for something so dumb. I really like this quest i do and would gladly follow it if you continue Hawk. No need for retcon but I'll let you do whatever you feel is right, just don't give up like this.

Alrighty, well I'm gonna bounce for now, but basically the deal is that classes start back up tomorrow and I've got a pretty full schedule to deal with. Once I get back in to a steady schedule and figure out how to balance schoolwork, other obligations, and questing, I will probably try and run at least one thread a week, possibly two. We'll just have to see how things work out.

As for the retcon, I'm just gonna roll with what we have here and just deal with it, but like I said before it was never really meant to be a big deal in the first place. I assure you guys that I am not interested in running a galaxy waifu quest. Once I get around to the next thread we'll get back into the stuff that Galaxy Quest was meant to be from the beginning.

Also, I'm really sorry about my reaction to the shitstorm...don't really have an excuse for you guys, but it's over now.

Also do you guys think I need a new thread image? I think I might need a new one...any suggestions?
>>
>>34211701
I like it enough, it was also what made me realize you came back and it wasn't just someone using the same name. But i wouldn't hurt for a few more i guess.

I dunno, I like it as it is. Maybe, if you find something like >>34211934 said then it'd be cool, but otherwise I think it's fine.
>>
>>34210463
Kind of late, but I didn't really have a problem with anything that happened I knew we would get to adventures eventually. Honestly the people that post the most are the ones that are angry over not getting what they want. They'll say things like "fucking dropped" and continue to complain. I just lurk and vote and I would hate for this shitstorm to end the quest.
>>
>>34211701
