You take the gift Nee-chan is offering first. It's rather large and looks pretty unwieldy, and she doesn't look particularly comfortable carrying it, so you feel kinda obliged to open it, first.

She seems thankful when you take it out of her hands, and she gives you a wink as you begin opening it.

It's a long, rectangular box, and you open it easily with a little help from the scary knife Fate gave you.

You open the flaps of the box, and your jaw practically hits the floor.

It's something lewd, isn't it.

It's...

It's amazing.

And lewd.

But also AMAZING.

It's a dakimura... that depicts Mato. Not just any Mato, but BIG!Mato.

The real Mato is, naturally, as red as a tomato, and Miku's expression could be interpreted as 'It can't be helped'.

You do a pretty good job of not drooling all over yourself, and peek at the other side-

OH GEEZ.

THAT-

OH MAN.

There's also a box of tissues and a couple of what appear to be textbooks in the box, but you don't really care at the moment.

“N-nee-chan...”

Nee-chan is entirely oblivious.

“I made it myself! It should be extra fireproof!” She winks.

You close the box and set it to the side.

Miku and Mato are both presenting you with their respective gifts.

Miku's is the next biggest, so accept it next.

You open the more cube-y box, also with the help of the scary knife, and see...

Holy shit, what?

A gun? It's a big one, too. A mean-looking black... revolver? It's kinda weird-looking, but also futuristic in a way...

You look up at Miku with what you can only assume is a very surprised and confused look on your face.

“It's not really a gun anymore, I think,” she says, “It's an energy weapon! You can charge each cell with your powers, and use it to apply all sorts of levels of force! I'll explain it in more detail later, 'kay?”

You nod and take the weapon (and the belt and holster that carry it) out of the box. You wrap your fingers around the grip of the strange-looking pistol, and find that it fits like a glove.

Like you were meant to be together...

It's so pretty and shiny...

You shake your head and lower the pretty gun and its accessories back into the box, which you set to the side.

Mato's gift... is in a pretty small box.

She offers it to you, a blush beginning to tint her cheeks, and you recall that Miku said she /wasn't/ proposing.

It sure feels like she was. Had she gone down on one knee, you'd have been convinced of it.

Still, you don't need to use the scary knife on this one... jewelery boxes don't get wrapped, you guess.

It makes sense, really- they're small enough that you know what they are whether or not you can see their exterior, and the real surprise is what's inside, right?

You take a deep breath and open the box.

It's not an engagement ring, so that's...

For some reason, you can't bring yourself to think that it's a good thing she isn't proposing.

Still, it's pretty- a teardrop-shaped moonstone pendant-or-whatever-you-call-it, with a pretty chain that you think is made of something relatively fireproof...

… You think the stone might be glowing a little. It's... strange.

You can feel Mato's eyes on you, waiting for your reaction.

You smile. You've never really had jewelry, what with the whole melting-everything deal you've got going on, and this... it's really pretty.

“I love it, Mato. It's beautiful.” You clasp the chain around your neck and give Mato a good old-fashioned SURPRISE TACKE-HUG!

Most people would probably have been bowled over by that, but Mato just kinda... caught you. You must look pretty silly right now, you think, and just imagining how you probably look sends you into a short bout of giggles.

The stone, now hanging in the shadow cast by your body, is visibly glowing. It doesn't give off enough light to see by or anything like that, but it's enough that it's highly visible.

“What's up with this stone, anyways? Why's it glowing like that?”

Mato lifts you into a proper standing position and smiles. “It's a necklace of extended invisibility!”

… what?

You tilt your head, confused. You're very clearly visible- in fact, the stone makes you even MORE visible than you otherwise would be.

You nuzzle against her a little before releasing her from your hug.

“It's fine. We all have our doubts from time to time.”

Your crazy conversation carries on for awhile before Mato suggests that you learn how to use that revolver-thing and then take your... other gifts... back to your place.

I'm actually not though, just mildly annoyed at the gun thing, because I don't see it adding anything, and Akari using that experience as incentive for personal growth would have appealed to me more than solving it with just another weapon in her reportoire, showing she has not actually learned anything.

But others apparently find it cool, so write what you like, its not a big deal.

That'd be a neat start, some more non-lethal attacks to learn would be nice too.
But its not like she killed the guy by accident or because she didn't have a better option. She wanted him dead.
Trying to get more control of herself would have still been a good start.

Miku notices you eying the weapon uncomfortably, and tilts her head. “Something wrong?”

You nod. “Yeah. It feels... heavy. And also a little depressing?”

She scratches her chin and goes 'hmm' for a few moments, then snaps her fingers. “Ah, okay! Lemme just...”

She fiddles with the buckle and readjusts some things, then re-fastens it around your waist. “How's that?”

It feels pretty good. You can barely even tell it's there! You relay the improvement to her, and she nods sagely. “I think it was kinda rubbing up against your soul, there. That's never pleasant!”

Before you can say something sarcastic, she claps her hands and begins explaining things.

The gist of it is this:

The gun is a heavily modified 'autorevolver', and it holds six rounds, or 'cells' in the cylinder.

It can't fire anything but specially-made rounds made specifically for it, but the cells can be recharged and reused.

The cells are charged through heating, and have either three or four levels of charge, depending on what kind of cell they are: standard 'JACKS' have four levels, and SPECIAL cells have three.

Charge levels are indicated by the color the cell's snazzy and futuristic-looking 'tron lines' glow: the colors currently in use are Green, Yellow, Orange, Red, and the two specials: Blue and Purple.
>>
File: Akari blankly staring.jpg (5 KB, 205x246)

The types of cells currently available are as follows:
>JACKS, which are the 'standard' cells, have Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red levels.
>ELECTROS, which are special cells whose nonstandard function is the firing of an electrolaser, have Yellow, Blue, and Red levels.
>SONICS, which are special cells whose nonstandard function is the emission of a highly-focused and absurdly-unpleasant sound wave, have Green, Purple, and Orange levels.

The standard charge levels are as follows:
>Green= unpleasant deterrent, similar in effect to pepper spray or something of that nature. Irritates the skin and eyes and generally makes the target have a bad day. The lowest charge level.
>Yellow= non-lethal 'stun'. One or two shots of this are enough to put most anyone down for the count; headshots can render targets unconscious rather efficiently. Second lowest charge level.
>Orange= lethal, about on par with .357 magnum rounds in terms of stopping power. Ruins people's days for longer consecutive periods of time... or forever. Second highest level of charge.
>RED= maximum overcharge. Kills things dead, until they die from it. Good for removing things that are in your way and need to stop it. The highest level of charge.

The special charge levels are as listed above- the Blue charge level from an ELECTRO fires an electrolaser, the Purple charge level from of SONIC generates the most unpleasant sound known to man.

Miku claps her hands and smiles. “Any questions?”

Neat, so the lightning rounds can stun as well as shock people to death.
>>
>>34308777
No. Specials fall between non-lethal (green and yellow) and lethal (orange and red) in level.
The nonstandard function corresponds to the special color, and is always the middle-most charge level.
Special rounds have two standard charge levels and one special one, which is also their namesake.

It means that Sonic rounds can fire deterrent, sonic-

Actually, I change my mind.
Yes, yes it does.

That's WAY better.

>>
>>34308992
He said cooler, not better.
There's a huge difference.

For example, a flaming sword is WAY cooler than a sword that never goes dull, but that sword that never goes dull is SO MUCH MORE USEFUL.
>>
>>34308992
I'm not saying it has to be stronger, I just don't like the aesthetics of her power and want this to look better.
>>
You nod. “So, SONICS can do deterrent, stun, and lethal levels of output?” She nods. “And ELECTROS can do stun, lethal, and overcharge levels?”

She nods again. “Exactly! The Blue level of an ELECTRO is pretty dangerous, so it's about as lethal as a JACK'S Orange level, but it can be under or overcharged at Yellow or Red level outputs, respectively! Same thing goes for SONICS, except their Purple level is less-than-lethal, and therefore takes the place of what would be Yellow on a JACK; likewise, they can be undercharged or overcharged to Green or Orange level outputs! Got it?”

You bob your head up and down. “Yeah, I think so.”

“Good,” she says, rubbing her hands together, “Now there's just one more thing left to do!”

You tilt your head, curious.

“You need to come up with a name for it!”

Oh boy.

Does Mirakurun even meean anything?

She's a fictional magical girl from Yuru Yuri. It's a 'show within a show' type thing.

You think on it.

You think and you think, and you think a little more.

You think and think, 'till your head grows sore.

And then you decide on BURNING GLORY.

Miku raises an eyebrow. “Burning Glory,” she mutters, “alright, got it.” She places BURNING GLORY beneath some sort of machine and does some stuff, then bequeaths the weapon upon you, complete with its name all fancy on either side.

“Don't worry about dropping it or anything- you won't do it any harm with anything less than a steam roller, and I don't think you could scratch or scuff it if you tried.”

“Okay.”

“Oh, and don't worry about keeping your unloaded cells charged and ready to go- they won't go off unless they're in the chamber and you've pulled the trigger. The only thing to worry about is exposing overcharged cells to excessive heat- they could short out, or they could just up and explode.” She laughs awkwardly. “I, uh, I kinda made 'em this morning, so I haven't had much time to test that sorta thing out.”

You nod and make a mental note of that. “Anything else?”

She thinks for a moment, then shakes her head. “Not that I can think of, no.” She produces a couple of boxes- one larger one and two rather small ones- and tucks them into the pocket on the left side of your gunbelt. “There's your extra cells- another 18 JACKS, and 6 each of ELECTROS and SONICS. If you need any more cells, or have ideas for special cells, just let me know, and I'll get right on it!”

“Right. Thanks again, Miku-chan.”

She smiles. “No problem. It's the least I can do after, y'know, the whole chip thing.”

You say your goodbyes to Nee-chan and Miku, and Mato joins you on your walk home.

You don't hold hands this time, mostly because you're charging your cells and she's got the box containing your newest (and lewdest) pillow in her arms.

How do you charge your cells?

You've got 24 JACKS, 6 ELECTROS, and 6 SONICS.
The format used for this will be thus: The number of cells of the appropriate charge level, followed by the first letter of the color of that charge level. I.E., '6G' means 6 cells will be charged to Green.

So, if you wanted to have your JACKS equally distributed across the levels, your vote would look like this:
>JACKS- 6G, 6Y, 6O, 6R

The same goes for specials, however, special rounds also have the first letter of their name added onto the end of each notation:
>ELECTROS- 2Ye, 2Be, 2Re
And
>SONICS- 2Gs, 2Ps, 2Os

BURNING GLORY can hold six cells at a time, and they can be in whatever order you please- this is the order they will be fired in.
For example, if you wanted to work your way up from non-lethals to lethals, using only JACKS, you might order them like so:
>BURNING GLORY- G, G, Y, Y, O, R
Alternatively, you could use
>BURNING GLORY: 2G, 2Y, O, R

Any questions?

CURRENT CELLS:
JACKS: 24 uncharged
ELECTROS: 6 uncharged
SONICS: 6 uncharged

(BURNING GLORY MAY BE LOADED AFTER CELLS ARE CHARGED.)

Replace the 0s with the numbers you'd like to have of each type!
>JACKS: 0G, 0Y, 0O, 0R
>ELECTROS: 0Ye, 0Be, 0Re
>SONICS: 0Gs, 0Ps, 0Os
>>
>>34310917
>JACKS: 6G, 6Y, 6O, 6R
>>ELECTROS: 0Ye, 0Be, 6Re
>>SONICS: 6Gs, 0Ps, 0Os
A balanced loadout for the basics with electro going serious and sonics focusing more on non-lethal.
>>
>>34310963
I'm fine with this.
>>
>>34310917
>BURNING GLORY: 2G, 2Y, O, R
>>34310963
Before I forget, this loadout for Burning Glory itself is fine by me.

You keep it simple when you do your charging. You do six JACKS for each level of charge, put all of your ELECTROS in the Red, and give your SONICS just enough to be Green.

You load BURNING GLORY with JACKS only for now, two Greens, two Yellows, an Orange, and a Red.

>BURNING GLORY: G, G, Y, Y, O, R

>JACKS: 4G, 4Y, 5O, 5R
>ELECTROS: 0Ye, 0Be, 6Re
>SONICS: 6Gs, 0Ps, 0Os

You double-check that the safety's on and place Burning Glory back in its holster.

“Hey, Akari?”

You look over at Mato. “Yeah?”

“Now that we're alone, I'd just like to say that I lo-”

Her confession, however, is cut short by the end of today's thread!

Oh goddammit I hate fake-outs! Good thread though.

I think my schedule (HA! Now I've got a schedule! Next thing you know, I'll have a plot or something) will probably change here next week, 'cause I'll have college and stuff.
So, uh, yeah. We'll see how that goes!

Good show I say! I for one can't wait to test out Burning Glory on some punks, maybe quote Dirty Harry even if it isn't technically the right gun.

Thanks, and thanks for playing!

I wonder how it feels, being confession-blocked by divine intervention.

Probably isn't fun.

And I'm sure BURNING GLORY will get some use soon enough.
