You are Sireyi Valyenya, 18 years old, you are on your first quest.

You've just saved thousands of innocent people from an army, and now you must decide what to do.

“Now we have one last Demon Lord to kill” you say “The Ruler”

You explain matters on this plane to the rest of the Heroes and they agree to aid you, with their help, you have your airship hovering over the Rulers palace only 2 days later.

Your airship hovers over the Rulers palace, undetectable, concealed by powerful magics, anyone looking your way with eyes or magic would see only an empty sky.

The dragon you captured has been healed and was persuaded to shapeshift into a humanoid shape with a demon-blooded appearance – the closest he can come to human form.

His name is Shahulzar and the mark on his chest is a Geas spell – he was ordered to kill you and your allies. He’s not very communicative, he’s also quite young for a dragon, the equivalent of 18 in human terms. You decide you’ll talk to him later, you have more important matters to decide.

You were unable to scry the Rulers palace, but others of the heroes could, though imperfectly.

They have identified a powerful magical demonic signature that they believe is the Ruler, alone in a room deep in the palace, the wizard who tells you this admits he cannot be sure though.

Alzurad suggests making a precision strike that will kill only the Ruler, and not anyone else. Many of the Paladins amongst the Heroes disagree, saying that a strike that obliterates the palace will make *sure* the Ruler is dead.

Despite your concealment spells, you’ll only get one shot before other Drache Airships are all over you.

Which side do you take?

>Flatten the Palace

You argue passionately to try a precision shot, pointing out that although the people in the palace are mostly demons and half-demons, many innocents will still die if you just flatten the whole thing.

The Paladins of Konig argue back that there are no innocents in this blighted plane – and even if there were, they would not associate with a Demon Lord.

You manage to sway more of the Heroes to your side however, and you power up the Fivefold Death of Cities and fire a shot precisely through the indicated room.

The wizards with you tell you that the signature they sensed has gone.

With the shot you just made having broken your cover, the Airship beats a hasty retreat as what looks like an entire airsfleet chases you. You manage to outdistance them.

With the battle over, and the Demon Lords dead, you now have a number of choices to make.
>>
The former inhabitants of the Island of Storms have refuge in the Kingdom of Dornmer, thanks to the Churches of Velya and Konig petitioning the King.
This is a temporary solution only, and you will need to find them somewhere else to live permanently.

>Ask the King of Dornmer to let them settle there permanently
>Ask Ellahi to find them homes across the Drache Empire, a ready-made rebel force
>They can live with Wegenthal and his clan in the mountains
>Let Sofia decide
>Present the options to the people and let them decide
>Other

Wegenthal once predicted that his clan of frost giants would be wiped out in 3 years. Your actions against the Drache Empire have hopefully changed their fate.
Although they still occupied the same home you found them in, and did not appear to be chased by Imperial forces, they may still be under threat. You could say nothing, or you could encourage them to do something specific.

>Say nothing (giants will probably stay in the mountains)
>I can ask the King of Dornmer to let you settle in the Kingdom
>I can ask Ellahi to find a place for you far from the Drache
>Other

The Fivefold Death of Cities is a very powerful weapon, leaving it lying around for the Drache to find would be stupid.

>Give it to Ellahi, hopefully she can use it to kill the Ruler, and lead a revolution
>I’m going to use it to kill the Ruler myself
>Dismantle it, don’t need it any more (keep the Elemental Nodes)
>Dismantle it, don’t need it any more (hide the Elemental Nodes away somewhere)
>Take it back to Dornmer
>Other
>>
And what of your companions? These choices are not final, your companions are their own people, and may settle down, move to different places or go places without you. This choice is about what’s happening for now.

Bokin
>Goes with the other frost giants
>Stays with me
>Bokin chooses

Gendric (probably still lurking around the Drache army camp on the shores of the Island)
>Comes with me
>Ellahi can find work for him
>Gendric chooses

Sofia & Jal
>Stays with Sofia’s people (wherever they go)
>Stays with me
>Sofia & Jal choose

And Sireyi herself, what does the future hold for her, once she has everyone to where they are supposed to be?

>I’m going back to my own plane

After discussing it with her people, Sofia decides that they cannot go back to the Island of Storms, and they do not want to live anywhere the Drache are, so they decide to ask Dornmer to take them in.

You teleport Bokin back to his family and have a long discussion with Wegenthal, after consulting the Mountains for guidance, and talking to his clan, they too decide to follow you to Dornmer, you know of a few mountain ranges within the kingdom, and a large one on the border, perhaps they can settle there.
Bokin tears up whilst insisting that he’s not crying when you gently explain to him that his place is with his family, seems he’s become quite attached to you.
You tell him you will visit, and he says that as soon as he is an adult he intends to come back to you.

Gendric will be a valuable asset to Ellahi and she builds the worship of Velya, his nascent powers proof of the gods existence. You exchange your goodbyes, parting as friends.

Sofia and Jal decide to stay with the people of Hanse, the people are too fond of their young queen to leave her now. Ebonsong as always, refuses to leave your side.

The next week passes in a blur, you are making sure that all of the refugees are safe, healing those wounded in the battle and spending time with the priests of Konig trying to figure out exactly what Sofia’s status is.

The denizens of Hanse who came with you have been built temporary shelter and are doing well, there’s talk amongst the royal guards helping them that they are going to be moved somewhere else to settle down, but no one knows any details.

You spend a lot of your time (and Divine Energy) healing those injured in the battle for the Island. Although you can repair the physical damage, some of those you heal have a haunted look in their eyes, and many of those you talk to are mourning loved ones.
>>
>>34344085
Eventually, you are brought defore the King of Dornmer.

King Corinthus is a young king, in his early 30’s. He is a tall man, with a big blond beard and by all accounts is a fair ruler, and is easy for many to get along with.

You are escorted into a closed court, with only the most senior nobles of the realm (the 5 Dukes) and the heads of the four main Churches present, clearly whatever is to be discussed here is important.

You kneel before the King, as is proper and he bids you rise, considering you from his throne as the others look on.

“Well” he says “Paladin Sireyi, I must thank you for returning the Horn of Alzurad, but you’ve also bought me a potential contender for my throne, a clan of giants, and thousands of refugees, I’m not sure if I should reward you, or arrest you.”

He’s smiling as he speaks, so he’s probably not serious.

>People of Hanse
Now that the demon lords are dead, why not just go back to their old homes? I seriously doubt the Empire that left them alone out of fear for hundreds of years will attack them after the second Demon Lord died there. Of course this would necessitate recapturing the place, but that will hopefully be far easier once not a whole invasion force but only a small staying force is there. This might be a long-term thing, though and I understand Sofia wanting to put all that behind.

>That huge battle
I'm sure glad people weren't too stupid. I think there is only one suggestion I would have made and that I will make now.
>Weep for the fallen… of both sides.
Our goal is not to kill evil, it is to redeem evil. While the best choice in context, we have ultimately lost that day. Imagine how many of these soldiers were like Gendric: Wishing for a better world but without hope. Trying to fit in and doing evil because they see no other way. So many lost opportunities, so lost souls.
>>
“Queen Sofia won’t try to take your throne” you say “and the Kingdom is large enough for them all, Sire.”

“Further” you continue earnestly “Those refugees, especially the giants will remember your magnanimity for a long time, I'm sure you will not come to regret it. They know the alternatives to rule guided by the gods like yours.”

“Perhaps” he concedes “Though I fear they bring more trouble to Dornmer than benefit.”

“Still” he continues, stroking his beard in thought “A reward is in order, we can’t say exactly what you are being rewarded for, though the clergy of Konig have a few suggestions.”

“And” he says “There is the matter of Sofia of House Jalweyen” you note the lack of title.

The kings gaze flickers to the High Priest of Konig “There are some who would have me make hers a Great House, Duchess Sofia would be the 6th Duke of the realm.”

He shakes his head “But that would not be a popular move I think”

“Your Majesty” says the High Priest of Konig “As Konigs mortal representative, the Child of the Divine deserves-”

The King cuts him off with a raised hand “I’m aware of your arguments Honoured Father” he says calmly.

“And Sofia of Jalweyen” he continues “Is undoubtedly a leader of her people, but what to do with her can, I think, be delayed for a moment or two. Now as to you, young Sireyi, what reward can we offer you for bringing Sofia Jalweyen back into a kingdom that respects mighty Konig?”

“Uh....” you say, not sure what you want

She is currently just not a Queen, and in a foreign land she won't be one unless she goes somewhere else.

>>
>>34344316
>Sofia should have a title
As Duchess she would at least still be ruler of her own people.
>>
You hold your tongue, you would prefer Sofia be given a title, as you want nothing for yourself, but you wait whilst you see where the King is going with this.

“The House of Dalvin” he says “Has long been in decline, many died bravely in the orc invasion 50 years ago, and none want to take up their seat of power on the border, a buffer against the orcish tribes.”

“One of the Kings of Dornmer once wrote: Sometimes excelling at a task means you get a well-deserved rest, and sometimes, it means being given another task.”

“I need a strong border.” He says, looking you straight in the eyes “are you up to another task, Baroness Sireyi?”

As your brain tries to process this he says in a casual way “As you know, Knights can swear to serve any Baron, Duke or the Crown, and Dukes can serve only the Crown, but Barons can swear to other Barons – though they often receive the title Baronet for doing so. By making you a Baron, and Baronet Sofia Jalweyen your vassal, I reward you, honour her, and reassure my nobles that I will not raise a foreigner above them.”

“So” he says “Will you serve?”

>>34344771

Our first loyalty is to our goddess. How does that mesh with us taking a land, a title and an oath to the king? I'm guessing we could pick up and go onna krusade at will as long as we left someone capable in charge in our stead, but how will the Lady feel about us taking the oath?
>>
>>34344885
Being a noble is not incompatible with being a Paladin.

Your oath to Velya comes first, but as others have suggested, as long as you leave someone capable in charge whilst you are away, it's ok.

I want to go around doing good for a few hundred years more. We will be sure to help him with those orcs, though. Maybe after a short vacation (helping Jianxi find out about her past).

Also, long-term, I think Sophia should try to re-take her island. That thing was awesome and with the dwindling power of Old Drache, and some help, it will surely not be as heavily defended in a couple of years.

>>34344836
Being a Baroness would have all sorts of obligations. Like being a vassal of the King. I already hate being somewhat beholden to Konig, I don't want to be beholden to a random human as well. If there is good to be done we will help, but I don't want to be involved in mortal politics like this.

Suggesting Sofia for that place is a good idea.

We cleared up the obligations bit with our refrence to our status, and we will still be around a few decades down the line when our children can take our titles. We got two afterall.

>Captured a Hellfire Wyrm 5
What did we do with that one? Has one of the heroes removed the spell? Do we now have a dragon to ride into battle?

We should also decide what to do with our tainted essence. I'm sure there is some sort of purification ritual we can do with the priests, or ask one of the gods to help us.

I still think transformation into a dragon is the most awesome power we have available. We are already plenty powerful, so I will vote to expend some exp on Aspect of the Dragon 2 and 3.

Sanctuary is another fun power, as is all that magical item stuff. All our powers are fun, to some extend, so I don't really care much.

He claps his hands together “Done!” he exclaims “You are now Baroness Sireyi – you’ll need to think of a House name, and Baronet Sofia of House Jalweyen is your first vassal, as long as she agrees. Now, the refugees from Hanse will need a home, the Barony of Dalvin is certainly large enough to house them. And as it is on the edge of a mountain range, I’m sure your clan of Frost Giants will be able to find a home there too.”

Wait, when did they become *your* clan of Frost Giants?

“Now he says, I believe the High Priest of Konig would like to ask you something.”

The High Priest of Konig steps forward.

“Honoured father” you say, bowing your head respectfully, no need to be rude.

“We added you to the rolls of the Horn” he says, without preamble “For a very specific purpose, you have completed the task we set for you, and now I must ask you to resign your status as a Hero of the Horn.”

As a Hero of the Horn, the High Priest cannot remove you, you must resign or be removed by Konig.

“Thank you child he says absently, his hands making a few passes in front of your face and then the sense of the Horn that you’ve lived with for almost a year....is gone.

Wow has it been so long? You’ll be 19 soon.

“About this Child of the Divine stuff...sorry for knocking up the descendent of Konig” you say.

“Its fine child” says the High Priest, though his clenched fist suggests it’s not fine “Though if you could persuade the Divine Child to be more amenable to our God, it would be appreciated.”

Seems like Sofia and Konig are still not talking.

“I’ll see what I can you” you say not committing yourself to anything.

“Thank you child” he says.

“With that done” says the King “I think you have a lot to do, I’ll send some of the Royal Guard with you to help until you have your Barony up and running, and one of the Assistant Stewards to the Royal Steward has indicated he’s ready to try managing an estate on his own.”

Oh great, royal spies.

>Geas
I have issues with this. It's powerful no doubt, but I question morality of even contemplating using it. Forcing introspection through redeeming touch and going full marketing mode with angelic persuasion bonuses is as far as I'd imagine we'd go messing up people's minds.
Unless it could be used to negate geas already in effect, maybe.
>>
>>34345587

Let's start with Sofia I guess.
>>
>>34345632
Negation of Geas is part of Break Enchantment, I believe.

Geas isn't mind control in this setting, it's 'do this thing or suffer consequences', so you don't have to worry about any mind-rapey vibes from it.
Okay, it's a little mind control, but not through subversion of thought.

I added it partially because it seems useful and partially because another anon mentioned wanting to Geas Shahulzar to not harm innocents while he's serving us, which I would qualify as a good usage of the spell.
>>
>>34345587
>Go see Sofia, explain she’s got a new title

>>34345632
The geas would be stuff to the effect of preventing him to be able to harm innocents and such. Even with redeeming touch, doesn't make him a Good person. And we shouldn't take a risk with someone that powerful.
>>
>>34345732
>>34345737

Very well, I still have issues with applications (and even the "1st rule of Sireyics" is problematic and could effectively prevent a person from 'turning good') but I retract my objection.
>>
You go find Sofia, she’s a little ways away from the City of Dornmer, at the refugee camp. You find her talking to a group of her countrymen, reassuring them that they will be taken care of, even though they are strangers in a strange land.

She looks comfortable, in a sturdy woollen dress, baby Milerna in a sling on her front. Motherhood seems to suit her.

Once she’s finished talking to her people she wanders over to you “Well?” she asks “What did the King say, has he found a place for my people?”

>In a way, he has, yes

“In a way, he has, yes” you say “It has a few strings attached”

“Like what?” asks Sofia suspiciously

“I’m a baroness, and your people get to settle on my land” you explain

“I’m still waiting for the strings” she says

“The Church of Konig wants you to be a Duchess” you say “But the King feels a Baronet is a better title for you.”

“Like I care” responds Sofia, throwing her hands up “As long as my people are fine, so am I.”

“And it’s conditional upon you swearing to serve as my vassal” you rush out, and cringe inwardly, waiting for the explosion.

There’s a pause, then Sofia starts giggling “Oh Yes” she says, in between bursts of merriment “That fits, wait until I tell Jal.”

“How are you feeling, any after effects from almost dying?” you ask, eager to change the topic now that the painful bit is over with

Sofia shakes her head “I’m fine, but if you go and talk to that scaly bastard, I want to help you twist his wings of.”

Yup, she’s fine.

“Ready to swear undying lov- I mean, fealty to me?” you say in a bantering tone

Sofia giggles again “Oh I’m definitely telling Jal that one” she says “Let me know what I need to do, and I’m there.”

You explain about her needing to go and visit the palace and she says she’ll get there as soon as she can.

“How do you feel about going from Queen to Baronet?” you ask

She shrugs “My kingdom wasn’t exactly large” she says “I’ll bet there are barons here who rule more people than I did, the title isn’t that important.”
>>
>>34346274
“You look good as a mother” you say

“Yeah” she says softly, stroking Milerna’s head gently “I guess I do” then she gets a look of mischief on her face more suited to Jal than her

“But give me another year or two before you give me another child” she says “One’s enough for now.”

“Ah, the um, the High Konig, Priest of the High Konig, The High Priest of Konig wanted to talk to you about the Konig, about Divine Konig” you say, in perfectly good common, and you are not blushing, it’s just a hot day out.

“If I must” scowls Sofia, her teasing of you forgotten “But I mean it, I want to be there when you see the dragon.”

“I am” she says grimly

You both go and see Wegenthal, he and the Frost Giants are housed separately, in great warehouses with huge mounds of ice, to make the temperature of the buildings more comfortable for the giants.

He’s sat apart from the other giants, writing in a journal.

On that note, maybe we should drop name of our orc merc friend nad his goblin chief friend, in case they found their way to the region for some reason (so Wegenthal knows they know us)

Good idea.

I don't think the area they moved to is in our lands, and the merc in particular gave impression of a retired veteran seeking shelter away from raging orc tribes. I was more thinking of giving him that knowledge just-in-case, or perhaps for plot reasons.

As for justifying it in conversation, just pointing out that goblins can be pretty peaceful too as we've learned on our first mission...
>>
“Mountain-Speaker Wegenthal, how are the accommodations?” you ask

He looks up from his journal “Warmer than we’re used to” he says “But better than we expected.”

“How are your people?” you ask

“Worried about our future” he says “We have no demons to worry us, but from what I understand, our kind and the smaller folk are often at odds on this plane.”

“Not in the place I’ve found for you” you say

“And where” he says “Is that?”

You explain about your recent promotion and that you intend to find space on your land for him and his tribe. You also introduce Sofia and explain her position as well.

“How do you feel about orcs?” you ask “I’m told the mountains have plenty.”

“Foul little creatures” grunts Wegenthal, “but easier to squash than demons.”

“I will need to speak to my clan” he continues “But yes, I believe so, it will be an honour to fight beside you, Winged Sireyi, and you, Tiny Sofia.”

Sofia is still a little stunned by talking to a giant, and mouths some polite phrases.

“What’re you writing?” you ask, allowing Sofia to get her composure back

“The record of our travels” he responds “It’s not every day a clan travels to another world, I need to record it, for future generations.”

“How’s Bokin?” you ask “He was upset when we parted, though I suppose I’ll see him regularly now.”

Wegenthal laughs, a creaky old noise, as if he’s not used to laughing much beyond a cynical chuckle.

“He has demanded I recognise him as an adult, citing his accomplishments whilst travelling with you as proof of his maturity, and he has formally requested my permission in seeking your hand in marriage.”
>>
>>34346762
He notices your expression “I told him no, not yet”

You tear your mind away from that complication to relate a story from your own past, about the Half-orc Braggedin, and the goblin Sleekit, perhaps they too will find their way to your lands.

Sofia and Wegenthal start chatting politely, clearly trying to understand the other

You and Sofia go to the Cathedral of Konig, they’re expecting you, and you are allowed down to the specially-warded cells in the basement.

As you walk through the Cathedral, everyone keeps staring at you, or rather, at Sofia. She walks briskly, her head held high, an unreadable expression on her face, you know her well enough to know that everyone staring bothers her, but she won’t show any reaction in public.

You are shown to a small cell housing a young demon-blooded man – it seems they won’t give Shahulzar a big enough cell to allow him change back into his natural form.

Magical wards are etched into the cells bars. His guards tell you that his Geas hasn’t been removed, and that y’know, if you want them to all take a short break whilst you *talk* to the demon, that’s ok.

Sofia gets an angry look on her face.

Shahulzar is lying down staring at the ceiling, he doesn’t appear to have noticed you.

I would, as always, want him to first choose repenting. If he spits at us and shows no willingness to mend his ways. Then he doesn't deserve redemption. He must want it, otherwise its useless.

Redeeming touch is a power to force introspection, not a sacrament we're dispensing as a boon.

It's not violation of free will, it just gives the affected a new perspective.

“Shahulzar, say hello to Sofia” You say “you almost killed her, remember?”

He looks over at you “Oh it’s you” he says eloquently “Go away”

You haul Sofia back as she starts forward “talking first, smiting later, maybe” you admonish her.

“Sure” she says between gritted teeth

“Who put the Geas on you?” you ask

He turns on his side, facing away from you “Can’t say” you hear the muffled reply “Against the rules”

“What if I took it off you?” you ask

“Can’t do that either” he says “I have to resistant that to my dying breath.”

Due to the nature of the wards on the cell, trying to cast magic into the cell from outside the bars is very difficult, to effectively use magic, you’ll need to be in there with him.

>>34347167
I wasn't the one who said it violates free will. But forcing this introspection is pointless if he doesn't want to repent.

>>34347238
>pointless if he doesn't want to repent
Literally wrong. If redeeming touch doesn't work then he's a lot cause. It gives someone who might not ever repent under any other circumstances a physical positive energy push toward good. If anything redeeming touch is the chance for true redemption.

Once again I will ask Pally to weigh in in if I'm misunderstanding the point if redeeming touch.
>>
>>34347342
>. It gives someone who might not ever repent under any other circumstances a physical positive energy push toward good.
No it doesn't. It just forces introspection, it doesn't give push one way or the other. And it doesn't tell us what he choose.
If he doesn't want to redeem himself, the ability will not make it so.
>>
>>34347342
It can make him more likely to repent, if we invest divine energy, but then we enter the "violating free will" part again.

It's definitely less of a violation than putting a geas on him.

>>
>>34347342
>Literally wrong
As opposed to figuratively wrong?

Believe it or not, your boner for this power doesn't make it some kind of magical cure-all for evil, and if it does then OP and I need to have a discussion about balance again.

Viewing what is shown through RT might make someone want to repent when they view their actions objectively and see the harm they've inflicted, but nothing else. It isn't mind control, it doesn't influence their thoughts or opinions. If it *does* alter their minds, then I really don't want to have it as a power anymore.

I'm already regretting putting any levels of the power on the XP sheet.

>>34347453
She's stronger than us, anon.
>>
>>34347342

Redeeming Touch cannot force redemption, it does force introspection, a person re-evaluating their choices and actions.

Someone who refuses to be redeemed, cannot be forced. It cannot violate free will in that sense.

It does force them to see what they did another way though. More DE in use of this ability means it goes on for longer, clearer and in more detail, increasing the chance they will repent.

They also feel compassion and empathy for others, albeit briefly.
>>
>>34347202
Shouldn't we, you know, have professionals remove the geas? I'm sure there are some counter-measures to a simple Dispel, and if there are, a geas on a dragon is where I would put them.

Eh, I don't really consider that a violation of free will. It forces them

“So about the one who put a Geas on you...?” you prompt

“Oh that” he says, understanding “Salvastis, Duke of Hell, 33rd Layer, something about killing the daughter of one of his captives to break her, I wasn’t listening when he told me, I was busy trying to fight off the Geas.”

Wait, could he be talking about your mother?

I just read through today's thread archive to catch up, and I have a few questions:

What, if anything, happened to the part of our essence that we put in a bottle after helping Ellahi?

What does our noble family think of us gaining a noble title in our own right? Are these in any way related? Are we a cadet branch or something?

Does it matter that Sophia being our vassal might mean that our daughter won't be of her house, since she may well inherit the higher title from our house?

I’m sorry the battle wasn’t as exciting as I intended, I spent a lot of time doing math behind the scenes, I will try and spice the next big battle up, and have less roll and repeat.

I leave the thread up for feedback and comments, and I re-paste the pastebin links, as requested

I will answer any questions I find in the archives at the top of the next thread. I understand foolz is having problems, so I’ll be using sup tg.

If I miss a question, please repost it, or post to the ask.fm. I will update character and party sheets tomorrow.

Goodnight all.

I would appreciate more detail and comments on the issues raised by

Should I include fewer dialogue options and just assume the obvious stuff will be talked about?

Should I clearly separate dialogue and meta-stuff?

I appreciate all feedback, thank you for your time.

How convenient, the next plot hook! We'll do that right after having helped Jianxi and dealt with the orcs.
>"How were you able to retreat if the Geas forced you to fight me on pain of death?"
>>
>>34348064

Oooooh a new plot hook.

IIIIIIIISSSSLAAAAA time to hit the books. Salvastis, 33rd layer, got it?

Thanks for the thread. It was fun as always.

>What, if anything, happened to the part of our essence that we put in a bottle after helping Ellahi?

You've still got it

>What does our noble family think of us gaining a noble title in our own right? Are these in any way related? Are we a cadet branch or something?

They don't yet know, the status of your nobility will explored more tomorrow.

>Does it matter that Sophia being our vassal might mean that our daughter won't be of her house, since she may well inherit the higher title from our house?

Only if you designate her as your heir

Thanks for the session.

And yes and yes. Firstly, most choices you give could easily be a part of each other. Secondly, Make a separate line for meta/ST stuff; most QMs put a line in the end after the choices, so it won't mix at all. Some even put it in brackets or spoilers.

Not him, and I don't think I understand what he means about mixing meta with narrative, I didn't notice anything of sorts. He has a point with you taking the dialogue entries sequentially as you listed them in the options list. Perhaps you could try weave them into the story posts more... organically?
>>
>>34348106
I quite enjoyed the thread pally, and as you know I love all the dialogue options and I'm totally fine with some meta choices in the prompts. I feel that they are helpful.

At least in reading I enjoyed the battle, I liked the clear numbers and mechanical clarity. While it would have increased update time, more flavor text would be nice.

>After
I'll give you helping Jianxi, but Orcs can take care of themselves (especially if the frost giants move into equation) If our mom's being captured, we have a personal matter to resolve (although as a good paladin we should probably ask Velya for leave to pursue this Quest, precisely due to its personal nature)

Now that sereyi has land to rule over, sanctuary and permanent sanctuary are a lot more attractive.

Thanks for the thread, OP! You're awesome. Keep it up (har har).

I mean things like these:
>He lies there stunned momentarily as you prepare to break this Geas, it’s a tough one, roll 1d20+13 to break it, and decide how much extra Arcane Energy to use, average of 3 votes used.

could be like this:
>He lies there stunned momentarily as you prepare to break this Geas, it’s a tough one.
>end of the update
>================ (or whatever elseyou prefer to separate story from meta)
>[Roll 1d20 and DE to spend]
>end of the post

In short, it's a formatting issue.
>>
>>34348361

Ah, I see. Ok, I don't have problems with that personally but I guess I can see why someone would.
>>
>>34348106

Maybe you should focus on the heroes instead of all of the battle? handwave the rest of the battle with a few rolls, while giving special treatment to the party and other special NPCs, or something.

The battle didn't feel like a battle. It was just a series of reports, "oh, this much people died".

I recommend you read a bit of Aspiring Emperor Quest. I think the QM there handles battles well.
>>
>>34348404

I wouldn't have a problem with it if this was a face-to-face RPG game, but for a quest it looks ugly and messy.
>>
>>34348106
I have to agree, that a few "moment shots" would have been nice. It was a bit jarring how mechanical Sofias near death read. Or the death of the demon lord.
>>
>>34348424
I'm already looking at how the battle worked and ways the system could be altered, refined and improved.

I've got a few ideas which I'll pitch to OP that should hopefully improve the system so that it'll work in the thread format.

>Only if you designate her as your heir
We may outlive her, though...
>>
>>34349464
You can just relinquish your title in favor of your heir. I heavily assume that will be our solution.
