“Hit ‘em with the co-ax!”

You’re in contact with Sherman tanks of the Liberion 1st Armored Division. Looks like its escort duty for you again as you give them a fly-over. Their 75mm guns and Browning light machine guns open fire and blast at a Neuroi heavy which popped out of the road in front of them. A Largo-type. It blasts its mighty laser cannon.

But you block it handily with a shield.

“Holy shit I thought we were dead!” yells the lead Tank Commander. “Thanks for that, dollface!”

You wave at the Sherman, then charge at the Largo. You go full-auto with your M2 Browning .50 Caliber Machine gun. The Largo steps back, sparking as it gets hundreds of new airholes in its hull. And finally, you bring up a shield. The force crushes the core as you ram through it and up into the sky.

“Woohoo!” The Tankers cheer, unbuttoned from their hatches as they wave their hats and hands in celebration. “Get some!” The Lead Tank Commander waves you over, and you fly over to him as he stands turned out of his turret hatch.

“Nice work,” he says. He scratches at his scraggly beard. “Listen, how bad is it between us and that Flak Tower?”

You frown a little. “I don’t know. Usually you get little scouts, Largos, and even looted King Tigers hiding in the roads waiting to ambush.”

He groans a bit, grinding his teeth. “Gah… if its as bad as you say, we’d have to stop and engage for every single one, that’d put us back, more and more.” He points his gloved hand ahead. “Listen, get to the Flak Tower ahead of us. We’ll make due on our own time. If those krauts are as unprepared as you say they are, we need to contact them as fast as possible, alright young lady?”

- We were flying between Gallia and Venezia.
- We saw the hive movements below us, and we got attacked by an ace and bailed out.

Sure, we might have looked down and saw the hive movements while in a freaky Neuroi mind-meld, but still...
>>
> “Alright, good luck.”

You nod. “Okay. You be right behind me, though, alright?”

He smiles. “Hey, we’re the Armored Cav! We’ll make due. Tell ‘em we’ll be there by at least tomorrow morning if things go our way. Venezians and Romagnans should be right behind us along with elements of Army Group South.”

“Good luck.” You nod, taking that information to heart. You fly onwards and upwards.

More and more, you’re loving the speed of your new Kingcobra. Maybe if you’re lucky, they’ll let you keep it after all of this blows over. That probably won’t happen but a woman can dream after all. You blast on over the forests and hills as you make all speed to the Flak Tower.

Your ears twitch heavily. There’s Neuroi all over the ground beneath you. The 1st Armored is going to have a difficult time making it through.

Maybe you should clear some of the way for them. You might not get any registered kills for it, but it might speed them up a little.

On the other hand, General Heinrici needs to know about this now.

It's going to get out that we were "talking" to one of the Neuroi Girls, those pilots saw us, after all, so might as well let Bucholz be ahead of the information curve.

> Speed on

You grit your teeth. Sorry 1st Armored. This takes priority. You put the pedal to the metal and speed onto the Flak Tower, barely visible in the distance amongst all the trees. Hive K-2 is visible, no bigger than a glass of water in your view, but that makes all the difference when you’re close to it.

The Flak Tower has expanded from a simple concrete fortress, to a huge camp where soldiers gather, equip, and train. New blood from Neue Karlsland across the sea has joined the ranks of the Resistance Fighters, along with the freed prisoners. Materiel like Tigers, Panthers, and other tanks have been sent over as well via Gargants and the Merchant Marine Air Fleet.

You set down, quickly dismounting from your Striker. “Rookie!” You look back to see Vera and Daphne, running over to you. “Oh, Darling it’s so good to see you again!” She jumps up and immediately tackles you in a great big hug.

“Daphne, Daphne!” You smile, laughing a little. You have a job though! “It’s good to see you!”

Vera jumps onto the pile as well. “Rookie! I knew you would come back! You are as indomitable as the Orussian Winter!”

“That’s nice, Vera!” you say.

“I need to see General Heinrici!” you yell. The two of them stop their laughing. “It’s very important! Very very important! Not that I’m complaining about you two dogpiling me, I love it, and I really wish it could be under different circumstances, but right now-“

“Of course, darling!” says Daphne as she gets up. “Come on!” She helps you up. “We can catch up later, eh?”

You smile. You’d love that so much. “Alright!”

“Vera,” you say. “You’re still on me.” Vera clutches you, riding on your back.

“Let me have this.” Vera is adamant.

You roll your eyes. Well… “Okay, fine, but only until we get to the General.” Vera beams, hanging on. “Come on!” You run for the Flak Tower, nearly barreling over a few soldiers here and there.

“… and they’re moving in from the southeast and the northeast. I got into contact with elements of the 1st Armored Division in Venezia, and they’re already on their way to reinforce.” You point out the hives on the maps, and have marked out their general direction of advance with a pencil. You also mark 1st Armored Division and other Joint Task Force units coming in from Venezia as well.

General Gotthard Heinrici watches over your shoulder, his eyes indiscernible beneath his glasses. “How soon?” he says.

“Tomorrow morning at best,” you say.

“And the Hives?”

You shake your head. “Could be tomorrow, could be today, could be right now.”

He nods. “Alright. Lieutenant.” One of the Staff Officers walks over. “Report to the Communications Room, inform General Blaskowitz of the situation, General Student as well. Inform me as soon as you can when they respond back.” The Lieutenant nods, salutes, then runs out of the room.

You sigh. “So… you just… trust me like that?”

General Heinrici looks at you, quirking a brow. For a mighty General of Karlsland, he’s actually quite short, only a few inches taller than you in fact. “Sure. It seems to make sense with their pattern of movement. Why do you say that?”

> “Well, things have been weird.”

You shrug. “Things have been weird for me, General Heinrici.” Yes, very weird and strange.

General Heinrici nods, apparently understanding. “I see. Well, you are free to rejoin the 509th with my blessing. If the attack is coming like you say it is, we must prepare defenses, wait for relief from 1st Armored and the rest. Give Maxine my blessing, yes?”

You smile. “Yes, sir.” You give him a salute, and he salutes you back.

With that, you are dismissed. You leave the room and meet with the entire 509th Joint Fighter Wing, waiting outside. Minus Commander Bucholz of course. Rachel smiles, “Well, looks like you’re back, Rook.”

You smile back at her. “I was only doing my duty. General Heinrici has given me his blessing to rejoin the 509th. But uh…” You sigh. You carefully brush at your hair with your hands, nervously. “I probably have to go see Commander Bucholz.”

“Hey, we’ll be right behind you,” says Carla. “It can’t be that difficult, right?”

You stand outside her door. It’s a makeshift office for her for now. But…

You all stand out there.

Oh god, you can’t do it. What if she shoots you!?

“She’s not going to shoot you,” says Daisy. “If anything she’ll just give you a few licks to the rear.” That… that actually sounds quite satisfying but that doesn’t excuse the fact that this is still scary.

> Go in alone

You take a deep breath. Time to do this. You knock on the door. “Come in,” says Bucholz.

You open it up to see Commander Bucholz behind her desk, with Johannes Bucholz sitting in front of her desk. They both look at you with varying degrees of surprise. You click your heels and salute. “Commander. I’ve come to rejoin the 509th Joint Fighter Wing.”

Johannes looks between you two. “Should I go?” he asks quickly. Bucholz nods, gesturing to the door. “Okay, jawhol.” He quickly stands up, tipping the chair over. “Oh! Uh…” Bucholz shakes her head, motioning for him to keep going. “Okay.” He marches over and bumps into you. “Ah! Sorry, did not see you there.” He sidesteps to the left and walks to the door. He knocks his forehead against the doorframe. “Ah! Son of a…” He closes the door behind him.

Commander Bucholz leans back in her seat, then motions to the chair. “Sit.” You walk over and right the chair up, then sit down. She looks at you with a very sad glare. “I assume you are here because it supersedes my orders.”

You nod. “The Hives are closing in. I had to inform General Heinrici, and come back with word of reinforcements.”

Commander Bucholz nods. “We had received word that your plane was shot down, actually. It worried me, not knowing your status.” You look down at the ground. “And I assume you have General Heinrici’s authorization for you to rejoin my unit.” You nod again. “Alright.”

She gestures to the door. “Congratulations. You are part of the unit until the deed is done. You know where the door is.” She goes back to writing.

I think it would better to tell Bucholz sooner than later: that way when those pilots get back to friendlies and let them know the witch they were flying was taken by Neuroi they won't be COMPLETELY surprised.

Also, random thought: why aren't there more tanned witches, what with how much time they spend in the air with their legs and bums out in the sun?
>>
> “Wait.”

You stand up. “Wait.”

Commander Bucholz looks up, glaring at you. “Excuse me?”

… oh you’ve made a huge mistake. Um. Wow, you didn’t think this through.

“Sergeant.” She leans forward, further hardening her expression. “I said this once, I will say it again. You will remain with the squadron until the action is over, and then you will return to the Academy.”

“I-It’s not fair, ma’am,” you say. She quirks her brow. “I… I want to stay with the 509th.”

“And I say you shouldn’t. That is my order, and you will follow it.” This isn’t the Commander you know. The Commander you know is nice, stern, but never a beast like this one. What’s gotten into her? “Do you hear me, Sergeant?”

… You think you understand what’s going on here. Just a bit.

You bite your lip. “You… don’t want me to die, do you, ma’am?”

“What do you want from me?” she asks. You step back a bit. “You know, when I first told you about my brother being missing, I thought you would leave it alone, let it be. Then, you come in with news of him, next you… you save him. And not just that… I-“ She balls her hands into fists.

You sit down again. “M-Ma’am?”

She stands up. “What. Do you want. From me?” She yells, “A promotion!? A medal!? A kiss!? What!? Why are you doing this!? Why can’t you-“ She marches over, and gets up into your face. She breathes on you. “Why… why can’t you just be a soldier? What do you want from me?”

> What do you want from her?

You smile at her. “I want to be yours. I know deep down you can be a good commander and this can be a great unit. That’s why I’ll follow you to the end.”

Commander Bucholz stands up straight, sighing deeply as she shuts her eyes. “… get out. I’ll… I’ll reconsider your rotation back to the Academy.” Really? You grin at that, standing up. “But you must earn your place here. No heroics, nothing stupid.” She points to the door. “Go. Get out.”

You walk to the door, then take the knob. You turn back to see her stare out the window, hands at her hips. You frown a little, but you decide to walk out the door.

And trip over everyone. The 509th, Johannes Bucholz, the No. 3 Commandos, and even a few random Staff Officers who had decided to listen in. You land right on top of Daphne, and onto her chest. “Oh!” she yelps. “Well… if you wanted that, you should have said so, darling!”

“Daphne, please,” you say, muffled by her breasts.

“So where’s Graf?” you ask. You all sit in the back of the Mack NO truck, having dinner courtesy of Carla. Hermine Graf is missing though, though she was present to listen in on you and the Commander.

Carla says, “Oh, she went to help the infantry bolster their defenses. Dig the trenches, that sort of stuff.”

You huff. Show off.

Daisy says, “Gotta say, we’re glad to have you back. Even if you’re a total snitch.” Rachel takes a bit of her sauce and smears it across Daisy’s nose. “Ah! Hey, Rach!”

Rachel leans over and licks a bit off of her. “Quiet you.” Daisy harumphs, crossing her arms.

“Please…” Rachel waves you off. “Call me Rachel if you’d like. If you’re wondering, no I’m not mad about the demotion. I’m actually glad she let me off that lightly.” She smiles. “Shouldn’t worry about it, it’s not like I’d get past Lieutenant the way me and Daisy roll.”

You nod. You have no idea what any of that is.

Daphne says, “So, darling. What brought you back to the Wing?”

> “Yeah, something like that.”

You nod. “Yeah, something like that. Glaucus the Devourer ate the plane, but me and the pilots got out okay.”

“How did you defeat an Ace?” asks Carla. “Even I’ve never defeated an Ace!”

“Very carefully,” you say. You’re tempted to say that you had some help but… “Just, very carefully.

Karen smiles. “Well, we are glad you are back, Nee-san. Hopefully this sticks.”

“Ohoho~” you giggle lightly, patting Karen on the head. “Of course it will stick. You know me.”

“This sucks!” You all prick up your ears. “Why d’we get the bum job?!” You all look out of the truck to see the Tank Witches under Captain Kelly march along with the soldiers, carrying large amounts of entrenching equipment. Burnie in particular is tugging along a light 37mm Flak Gun. She says, “You know? Sometimes I like to have a shower too, Skip!”

Captain Kelly looks back. “Now, now, Burnie, stiff upper lip. Take after Bohater!”

“That’s different!” yells Burnie. She gestures to Bohater, towing a Flak 88 emplacement on wheels as if it were nothing. “Bohater doesn’t even talk!”

“And I’m glad she doesn’t. You speak enough for everyone.” Captain Kelly looks at you, and smiles. “Oh, well if it isn’t the Flygirls.”

Rachel smirks. “If it ain’t the groundpounders.”

Jeb yells, “Hey, how about you guys come and slog it with us? Dirt, mud, everything!”

Dig, and dig, and dig, and diggity dig, and dig, and dig, and diggity.

Captain Kelly stands out of the trench as you all dig up a trench for the infantry. “Come on, you lot. We’ve got a schedule to keep, things to do.”

Jeb says, “How about you help us, Skip?” She smirks a little. “You know, Officer and Enlisted interelations?”

Captain Kelly taps her chin, pensive, then looks over at a pair of Panzergrenadiers, lounging around on a log drinking coffee. “Oi, you two.” They immediately stand up, at attention. “Help them.” They grumble a little, grabbing entrenching tools and jumping into the trench to dig. “There, I’m helping.”

“I don’t understand why we can’t just burn holes into the ground, wouldn’t that be faster?” asks Burnie.

Doc says, “Burnie, you can’t burn rock.”

Burnie grumbles a bit, tossing a bit of muck in Doc’s direction. “Says you.”

Captain Kelly looks down at you. “Come on, lassie, pick up the pace.”

You sigh. This is not the kind of work you’re used to. Maybe there’s something else for you to do.

“Oh, you want to help, Bohater?” Captain Kelly smiles at you. “Sure! Just take note though, Bohater doesn’t really talk.”

You nod. “Oh, I can handle quiet people.”

“No, literally. She doesn’t talk. Something in her file about mental fatigue or something, literally renders her unable to speak,” she says. Oh. That’s… something. Captain Kelly pats you on the shoulder. “You should be fine though, she’s actually quite adorable when you get to know her.”

You nod. “Okay, that’s fine.”

“Hey, Bohater!”

Bohater is only about two inches shorter than you, but she’s already towing three heavy howitzers, the 15cmm schwere Feldhaubitze 18 to their positions at the front. She wears a uniform and a helmet with an insignia signifying her as 1st Polanian Armored Division and even some nice pretty red and white striped trousers. She looks over at you, her sharp bangs sticking to her sweat covered forehead.

“Do you mind if I help?” you ask.

She shakes her head.

… Um. Does that mean yes or no?

She points back to one of the heavy guns, and makes a gripping motion with one of her hands. Oh, that means sure! Okay, fine! You walk back to the rearwards gun, untie it from the rest, then proceed to-

WOW THIS IS HEAVY. You struggle to pull it. All the passing soldiers double take at you as you try desperately to pull the gun, only to start sinking into the mud. This sucks.

Bohater stares at you. She doesn’t look very amused.

You lift your arm out to Bohater. “Could you perhaps give me a hand?” You tug harder on the gun, trying to make it move. It only moves a little bit, but if this thing didn’t have wheels you’d probably be in the ground. Bohater rolls her eyes, taking off her helmet and flattening out her curly brown hair. She walks over to you, then immediately slaps the helmet on you. “Oh, thank you!” you say.

She ties the gun up to the rest and goes back to the limber to go tug them. “Wait,” you say- D’oh, the lip of the helmet just nailed you in the face. “Wait, I should carry something. I don’t want to be… not helpful.”

Bohater stares at you for a second, then scratches her chin. She snaps her finger, realizing then gestures over to a crate of ammo. Ah, that’s a little more manageable. You pick it up and start walking next to her as you both begin the walk back.

In complete silence.

You smile. “So, you like being with the Tank Witches?”

Bohater smiles, nodding violently.

“Ah, that’s good!” you say. “Always nice to be with people you can tolerate at least.”

Bohater nods again.

It’s quite hard, not being able to talk to her like a normal person. You really wonder what the heck happened to her that rendered her speechless. You sigh though. Captain Kelly was right, she is quite adorable. Nice tushie too. You dare not say that out loud though, the Wing would never let you live that down.

“Hey, you’re back!” Captain Kelly greets the two of you with a cup of tea. You smile, reaching out for it, only for Captain Kelly to hand it to Bohater. Oh, okay. Bohater takes a sip, then scrunches her face a bit, apparently not finding it to her liking. She hands it to you and you take a sip.

… THIS IS GINGER TEA.

“Indeed, it’s quite healthy!” she says. She smirks a little, taking a sip of her own tea. “Has that Earthy flavor.”

This is worse than Ardrahan Cheese.

Wait scratch that, nothing’s worse than Ardrahan Cheese.

“Hey, Rookie, think fast!” You look over to see an incoming dirt cloud, which immediately impacts your chest and splatters all over your fresh blouse. Rachel and Daisy laugh.

“You insolent little children!” You run over, tea cup in hand. “I’m gonna give you a throatful of this tea and you’re not going to like it!”

Rachel and Daisy look at each other, their cheeks stained with dirt. They immediately turn tail and flee. “Fuck that noise!” yells Rachel.

Captain Kelly and Bohater look at each other. “Is my tea really that bad?” asks Captain Kelly. Bohater nods, blunt. Captain Kelly hangs her head low, a bit saddened, while Bohater pats her on the head.

“Come on and take your lumps!” you yell. Daisy trips, falling on her face.

“Wait!” she yells. “Rach, come back!”

“See you later, Daisy!” Rachel turns the corner of the trench.

Daisy turns over, frightful. “I didn’t throw it, Rachel did!” You hover the tea over her.

“Ghagha!” She spits it out, coughing. “Oh god! That’s horrible!” She wipes her lips. “Fuck… and I thought Rachel’s cooking was bad!”

Rachel and the rest of the Wing poke their heads from around the corner. “Damn it, Daisy! You were supposed to draw her in so we could ambush her!”

“Oh, is that what that is?” you say. “Nice try, McCawlay.” You stand up, then help Daisy up. “But I am far smarter than that.”

“You don’t show it much,” says Daisy. You nudge Daisy in the elbow. Oh her.

“Ice cream!”

Rachel cracks open a carton of pure white vanilla ice cream. “Yep!” she says. “Figure we’d enjoy it, get our minds off the calm before the storm. We just got this from the last airlift, called in a few favors to keep it warm, and voila. All for us.”

Vera frowns. “But where’s Hermine? Shouldn’t she be enjoying some?”

Daisy points her thumb back to a slumbering Hermine Graf. She sleeps quietly, leaning up against a crate of ammo, covered in mud and dirt. “She’s been working too hard,” says Daisy. “We’ll give her some later.”

Rachel gives out a scoop for everyone. “One for you.” She hands one to Carla. “One for you.” Another to Karen. “There you go, Foobs.” Daphne appreciates her scoop. “And Rookie, here you go.”

You take your scoop gratefully and start eating. It’s wonderful!

Daisy says, “You know Rookie, I’ve been meaning to ask. What’s it like at the Academy?”

You blink. This is new. “You guys never been there? It’s the Joint Nations Academy program. You see, witches like us spend a lot of time on the frontlines and since a lot of us are so young, we’re not going to see a formal education anytime soon. So… the nations got together, opened up the Academy, not just as an OCS, but… as a way to help witches get some amount of education in the lulls of the War. We rotate into classes, we rotate out to the front.”

“Neat,” says Rachel. “Any cool teachers?”

There is your homeroom teacher…

“Both?” asks Rachel.

You shrug. “They alternated days. Though, I will admit, Professor von Braun was a little more fun to be around. All the Witch cadets really loved him!”

Carla sighs dreamily. “I met him once, actually. He’s quite the dreamboat.”

“I wouldn’t take eggheads to be dreamanything,” says Rachel.

Vera says, “What about Professor Ulam?”

You shrug. “He taught me a lot about math, and I really love him as well. I just wish he would take a break from the math studies. Relax. I believe he and Professor von Braun had words over this on his marriage to his work.”

You shrug. “Here and there. My roommate Rosemary certainly dreads going there.”

“Who’s Rosemary?” asks Daphne.

“My roommate, Rosemary Finken, she’s a Tank Witch cadet from Karlsland,” you say. “She’s quite nice when you get to know her, and she certainly excels as a Tank Witch.”

“What’s her Striker?” asks Rachel. She seems curious as well.

“She came into the Academy with a StuG III E, but she’s looking into enlisting into a Schwerer Panzer Abteilung like Oberst Hessler. I gather she wants to upgrade to a Tiger or a King Tiger sometime soon.”

“Sounds like a fun girl,” says Daisy.

You take in another spoonful of ice cream, and happily squeal at the taste of it. You probably won’t get to have anything like this for a while. It just feels great to be back with the 509th, however temporary if things go south.

You all look over to the horizon, where the stormclouds of Hive K-2 gather. You’re all quiet, staring at it.

“A storm’s coming,” says Rachel.

You yawn a bit as you all return to the Mack truck. Rachel helps everyone in, but you notice something. Where’s your Striker? Not the Airacobra, that’s probably still in the truck considering you never pulled it out. Where’s the Kingcobra?

“Oh, hey.” You look over to Johannes Bucholz, shouldering both units of the Striker like they were nothing. “I was just bringing your Striker in, mechanics wanted to give it a lookover.” You frown at him. “Do not worry!” he says dismissively. “They did not tamper with it.”

Vera, Carla, and Karen all look at him dreamily. You do have to admit, he’s quite a strapping young man.

“Though,” he says. “I must say, Maxine has been in a row over you, sweetie.” He sets your Kingcobra into the back of the other truck.

You cock your head. “A row?”

“A fuss. However you people say it.” Johannes shrugs. “I just…” He scratches the back of his head. “Can I offer you some advice?”

Johannes clears his throat, his cheeks twinged a bit red. “Yes, plenty of times with my sister. Anyway.” He looks back at you. “Sweetie, please… don’t do anything stupid. My sister can get quite emotional over her family. She was nigh-inconsolable when we couldn’t save our grandfather.”

You frown, then nod a bit. “Okay. Is there anything else?”

He shakes his head. “Nah, nah. That is about it.” He smiles, running his big fingers through your hair. You grumble angrily under his touch. Damn it, you need to have Daphne fix that! “You take care of yourself, sweetie. Goes the same with the rest of you. Good night.”

With that, he turns around and walks into the darkness of the night. Rachel helps you up into the truck.

Carla sighs. “He’s an absolute dream!”

Karen giggles a bit. “Nii-san is so huge! I just want to ride him like a horse!”

Out of curiosity, what would an engineering witch be like?

Or a signal corp witch?

1. Engineering Witches are often the stronger witches who use Engineering vehicle Strikers like the M32 TRV (One Witch in particular in the Ghangzhou front uses a M1 Garand with a Rifle Grenade launcher as her primary).

2. The Rookie herself was actually being groomed for the Signal Corps due to her inherent ability to not just pick up Neuroi signals at great distance, but also her ability to decode encryptions quite quickly. She can certainly make sense of Morse code (and would probably suffer sensory overload if she ever went into the Flak Tower's Comm Room: One of the Resistance's many ways to subvert Neuroi interception is to spam the airwaves with false messages.)

Otherwise, Signal Corps Witches don't use Strikers. Instead, they actually travel along with Signal Corps units to operate radios and use their inherent magics to maintain communications in rough areas.

Oh, speaking of boards of discipline, I actually finished my story I was speaking of earlier. However, I don't even know if I want to release it: it's not exactly pleasant material, and it turns two certain characters into kind of, well, dicks.

Wouldn't the AVRE witch technically be an Engineering Witch?

Stick it in a Pastebin. Let those who want it have it, and those who don't, like me, don't have to read it.

“Where are you going?” asks Daphne.

You take up your spare coat and toss it around your shoulders. “Just going for a walk, see what’s what. Tire myself out a little.”

Rachel smiles. “Okay, but don’t go too far, alright?”

With that, you decide to take a walk. Light discipline is still being maintained, but you see some occasional splotches of red, orange, and yellow. At one makeshift blockhouse, you actually hear some music. You walk up and press your ear to the window. Inside are quite a few Karlslander soldiers, and even Johannes, you can figure him by just his voice. They sing to the tune of a piano.

You smile. Sounds like they’re having fun.

With that, you continue on. You look towards the night sky, searching.

Maybe for her. Maybe just for some hope that the hives won’t attack. You sigh a little. It’s only going to get colder soon. That… thing is out there, somewhere. Maybe it’s watching you, right now.

“Sergeant.” You freeze. You turn your head slowly to Commander Bucholz, her greatcoat draped around her shoulders. She walks up to you. “I thought you’d be asleep by now.”

“Well…” you shrug. “I wanted to talk a walk, Commander.”

She nods, standing next to you as she looks up at the sky with you. “Did you.”

The attack is obviously coming already. I mean, you can see the neuroi buildup with the naked eye.

The intel is solid and we need to at least get the word out since in story, rookie doesn't know if she'll survive the upcoming battle.

> “Can I tell you something?” (Explain it)

You look up at her. “Can I tell you something, Commander?”

She nods. “Sure, Sergeant. Anything.”

“It’s uh… about how I got the intelligence.” You place your hands in your pockets, looking downwards. How do you break this? “I uh… It’s a very long story you see. When I was left behind at the nest, I was almost killed by the Impaler. But then, something saved me. I thought it might have been McCawlay or something but…”

Commander Bucholz turns her body to you. “What?”

“It was a Neuroi. And it saved me again when the plane was attacked. It was like a Witch, you know, those rumors about Witch-likes? And it took me to a hive, and it showed me the Gustav, and that the Hives were coming with it. Then it sent me back, and that was the last I saw of it.”

Commander Bucholz blinks. “Wow.” She looks around. “This has come so far out of the left field I am really unsure how to react.”

You shrug. “Well… that’s the truth. I didn’t do any recon in particular or anything. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.”

The Commander nods. “I see. Well.” She sighs. “I won’t tell anyone.” You look up at her, surprised. “It’s irrelevant for now, we won’t gain anything new from pursuing it I’m sure.” She places her hand on your shoulder. “Just don’t beat yourself over it, alright?” You nod. “Good, now go to sleep. That is an order.”

> “Yes, ma’am.”
> “May I sleep with you tonight?”

You quickly give her a hug, surprising her. “Yes, ma’am! Thank you, ma’am!”

Commander Bucholz pats you on the back. “Yes, yes. Now go.”

You smile, letting go then running off to the Mack truck. Commander Bucholz continues to stand out there, alone, staring off into the sky.

You hop into the back of the truck, quietly. The Wing is fast asleep, piled on top of each other on the bed of the truck. You silently crawl all over everyone, then settle in next to Daphne. She rouses a little, “Oh… darling, hi…”

You smile, cozying up next to her. “Go to sleep, Daph-“ She immediately reaches out and feels your hair. Ah, you were wondering what was missing from your life. “Good night, Daphne.”

She yawns, proceeding to hug you from behind, and then take a deep sniff of your hair. “Unf… so soft…” She giggles a bit. “Good night, darling.”

You sigh, smiling. You’re back home again.

That's it for tonight. SWGQ should return tomorrow on Wednesday and Thursday again as usual.

Tomorrow I should be able to run LGA. Stay tuned for that.

NSFW, and just to warn you this is the "blanket party" story. If you're at all uncomfortable with non-consent and abuse, do not read this. Assume that it "happens" early on in the series before the bomber missions.
