Hello, /tg/. I'm running today, because tomorrow is the Scottish Games. Sorry if it's a bit sudden, but that's how it is.

Last time on Digimon Quest:
You take a deep breath, watching Sally throw a particularly nasty punch at the pink monstrosity, and decide to take the plunge.

"I'm sorry, Zoe. I'm sorry for being so dumb. I- we can talk about it later, if you want." She doesn't say anything, just slowly nods. You figure that's all you're going to get from her.

Now Daniil and Niklas have stepped up as well, their digimon running out to join the fray as well. The Shellmon is turtling again, and this time, neither Aslan nor Sally can get to its weak point. Perhaps the smaller digimon will be able to?

You notice Sally wobble in midair, and only barely dodge another blow from the shellmon. Despite the nonexistent level gap, Sally isn't faring well in this fight.

>Let Sally fight on her own
>Try and give her some advice
>Try and figure out why she's like this
>other?

Yes! Both Digimon quests I follow on the same night! Today is a good day.

>write in
Tell Sally to throw a Balaluna Gale on the entrance of the shell. We might be able to hit him while he turtles.
>>
Hm, why IS Sally having problems?
>>
>>34489778
Hiya Gale, how're you doing?

So no game tomorrow, then?
...Will there be a game come Sunday?
>>
>>34489778

Use Balaluna Gale to slightly lift it off the ground, then Aslan can hit it up further, possibly onto it's back giving us a few moments to pound away at it's weak spot...
>>
>>34490165
Hey, this sounds like a pretty sweet idea, if we can manage it.
>>
>>34490042
Actually, come to think of it, Sally could just be distracted from what Wayne has been doing...
>>
>>34490083

could also use Aquary Pressure with Kokuwamon's electricity...
>>
Reminder to everyone that it's important to try and get the guardian of the egg out of hte way so there can be some nade nade
>>
>>34490307
True.
But isn't this thing aquatic?
Might not work so well.
>>
>>34490358
If it's aquatic then the electricity will do even more damage, even more so when amplified by the attack
>>
>>34490161
maybe. I haven't decided yet, especially since classes start this next week.

>>34490083
I'm doing alright.
the series of the week needs to update- I need muh Shield Hero to become THE WALL.
Been better, been worse. Pretty solidly Okay.

Eh, might be worrying too much.

Alright, so See what's wrong with your partner has won out.
Time to get to writing, then.
>>
So do we have something you can make an update out of, Gale?

Sally’s having trouble fighting something she should be wrecking on her own, with backup from three other digimon. Something has to be wrong.

Looking closer, you notice that every so often, Sally’s head turns away from the battle...towards your grou- no, towards you. What does she think she’s doing? If she’s not careful, she’s going to get hurt!

Pulling out the digivice, you open it to the app that lets you speak with your partner.

“Sally,” you say, noticing how she twitches towards you at the sound of your voice. “Sally, what’s going on? You’re not hurt, are you?” You know she’s not hurt- badly, at least. But you need to hear her say it.

“N-no.” She dodges another retaliatory strike from the shellmon. “No, I’m not hurt.” You nof, though she can’t see it.

“Then what’s happening?” She makes a small noise of confusion, pulling away from the fight momentarily.

“What?”

>Sally, I won't jump in again, I promise.

>...mostly because I'm out of breath.
>>
>>34491853
You realize that if we say this Sally will have us running laps everywhere just so we're too tired to do any running later right?
>>
>>34492129
I am glad, very glad, that you were innocuous enough to only suggest running.
>>
>>34491768

>>34492170
Well the other stuff seemed obvious enough without me having to point them out
>>
>This took far longer than it should have, due to some complications from the...real world. ugh.

You bite back a sigh, instead keeping your eyes locked on the fight and your partner.

“I asked you to be honest with me, Sally. You don’t have to pretend like you don’t know what I’m talking about.” You see her flinch at your words, and then wince yourself. That was somewhat harsh. “Sally, I’m not in the way anymore.” You continue, much quieter and not as sternly. “You can fight without worrying about me.” There’s no response for a while, until you see her nod, and draw her arm back, winding up for what looks like a punch.

“What do you suggest, Wayne?” You can hear the smile in her words, and it’s mirrored on your own face.

Atta girl.

Throughout my many days of questing and archive binging, I have come upon these truths:

>Nice things may happen on occasion, but must of the time, the game will fuck us over.

>The dice gods are fickle and their favor is brief. Though apparently, they like hot bloodedness and crazy plans.

>When the GM rolls, the worst roll will be for your allies, the best one will be reserved for your enemies. This is independent of the GM, the Dice Gods decide the outcome regardless of the GM's wishes.
>>
>>34493540

“If this guy likes the water so much, then why don’t we give him something to swim in.” you propose, a smirk finding its way into your expression. Your partner hums to herself, before nodding, a smile forming on her own lips as she grasps the implication.

“I can do that.” With that, she summons up the circle that spawns the Aquary Pressure, the large orb of water gathering in front of her, then shrinking in on itself slowly. You signal to Niklas, and indicate the ball, and he too understands, speaking softly into his own digivice.

The shellmon turns to regard the charging attack, unaware of the danger it poses, and roars in defiance.

It’s the roar that seals its fate.

At that moment, Sally lets go, the handle she was keeping on the building pressure suddenly removed, and the water explodes forth in a massive torrent, flooding the shellmon’s oral cavity and the main hole in its shell.

This is also the moment Tesla chooses to let loose with his lightning.

The roar turns into a gurgle, then into a scream of pain as an unknown voltage courses through its body, courtesy of the water Sally so graciously provided. When the noise finally stops, it’s because the digimon doesn’t seem to have any oxygen in its body left, not because the electricity has left its body. It’s a gruesome end, but you never retained the delusion of keeping your hands clean after Sally’s slaughter at the sporting goods store. Not really.

It’s Niklas you’re really worried about- the guy’s seen digimon die before, but you don’t think it was anything like this…

The look on his face, however, makes you consider holding off on questions for now.
>>
>>34494658
You look back to the site of the battle, and notice that quite a few strings of data are flowing into the two smaller digimon- much more than your partner or Zoe's. Still, Sally looks a bit healthier than she did two minutes ago, so that's something.

>Check on Niklas

Your fellow chosen is looking more than a little horrified at what he’s witnessed, and with no small amount of disgust.
You can’t help but want to head this off before it might become a problem. You slowly make your way up beside him, noticing while you do that he’s steadily turning green as he watches the shellmon disintegrate into data, the particles fading away from view. Hesitantly, you reach out and place a hand on his shoulder, the contact shaking him out of his grim trance. He turns to regard you, and you repress the wince at the look in his eyes.

“Hey,” you begin. “That...are you alright?” You have to suppress another grimace at the way that sounded, but he merely turns back to watching the massive digimon turn to digital dust.

“I don’t know.” He finally admits. “I had to watch some digimon die- then a lot of them die, when you and Zoe rescued us, but…” The look of discomfort on his face intensifies as he looks closer at what your partners wrought. “It wasn’t anything like this.” You can certainly understand the sentiment. That was an incredibly abrupt and violent way to end a fight, and it wasn’t very fair, either.

You get the feeling fighting fair won’t get you anywhere in the trials to come.

“Well,” you pause to compose yourself and consider what to say…

>[] I get it- Sally’s done a lot for me that isn’t exactly moral...
>[] get used to it- I don’t think it’s gonna stop happening any time soon.
>[] you don’t have to fight, you know…
>[] what does your partner think about this?

but that's an astounding lack of tact, even for me.

>Then we need to get strong, and we need to get smart.
>Strong enough to defend ourselves and protect those we care about
>Smart enough to find other ways. To fight without killing. To persuade others to drop their weapons.

>But NEVER, ever forget that we have a responsibility to our partners and whoever we have back home to survive.

>Also, we're about to start a war. If you really have a problem with this, we totally need to look into other ways of getting the Royal Knights out.
>>
>>34496777
>What does your partner think about this?
>You think you’ll be okay with continuing?
We need to help him get his head back in the game-the group is only as strong as the weakest person, and if Niklas is not in it then things might not turn out for the best.

>>
>>34498258
>1994, actually.

He’s taking this really hard. That might make things difficult, especially if you intend to continue on like this. But-

Do you have to continue like this?

That’s something to think about. For now, however…

“Then we need to get stronger, and we need to be smarter. Strong enough to defend ourselves and protect those we care about. Smart enough to find other ways- to fight without killing. Persuade others that the fight isn’t worth it.” He looks up at those words, and you can see some of his optimism coming back.

“But we can never forget that we have a responsibility to our partners and whoever we have waiting for us back home: we have to survive.”

Niklas seems taken aback by that, but nods nonetheless, accepting that point without much argument.

“That, I can do.” His voice has a bit more strength to it now- perhaps you’ve given him a reason to continue on? He starts to walk towards the site of the battle, perhaps to talk with his partner, but as he’s leaving, you call out again.

“Niklas, we’re going to be starting a war. If you don’t think you can go through with that...I’m always willing to hear about alternatives.” For a moment, the other boy looks surprised , before he smiles and nods.

“I’ll keep that in mind, Wayne.” As the somewhat mild-mannered chosen reunites with his partner, you can’t help but feel that you’ve made some progress with the guy today- you still don’t know him very well, but progress is progress.

Turning your attention away from your fellow human, you…

Hm. Well, I guess we could check in on Sally, or we could probably try patching things up with Zoe. Poor girl practically got NTR'd in front of her eyes.
>>

Next thread will open up with >>34498577 and >>34498629, whenever it happens, and we'll go from there.

>1994, actually.
Ummm, Gale, you have no idea how cool that is to me. That means you are about as old as I am and to be running one of my favorite quests really makes me want to start up that quest I keep putting off for some reason or other. And the fact that I see you in HPQ all the time (which is also one of my favorites) is just kinda really really cool. So I guess what I'm saying is thanks.
>>
>>34498684
Yeah, I'm getting pretty sick of this. You start threads extremely sporadically, post incredibly slowly, and often drop out early. You need to fix at least one of those.
>>
>>34498684
Not at all. Maybe a bit short, and we definitly have some stuff to work out with Sally next thread, but it was fun as always.
>>
>>34498684
Eh. It was nice while it lasted.
>>
>>34498762
I normally wouldn't drop out this early, or I'd at least pick up tomorrow, but tomorrow is a big damn thing for me. It's my heritage, or one of them, and the one I connect with the most.

>>34498741
Run that quest, anon. Don't let anyone tell you you can't. Burn that dread, fight that powah, claim that stage.
>>
>>34498684
This is one of my favorite quests on /tg/, but damn do it end quickly every time! Get back to it soon, please! (We really do need a beach episode soon)
