Ah! Hello there and welcome to the world of Pokemon. My name is Professor Sequoia, I am an advisor to the King and a pokemon researcher.

We live in a world inhabited by beings known as Pokemon, powerful animals that can be befriended and tamed. We humans live along side of Pokemon as friends and allies. At times we play together and at other times we work together. Some people battle with their pokemon to protect our home nation and for profit.

Then again who are you?

Torterra Nomad locked in, need name, age and description
>>
>>34510521
Fuck it >>34510451 keeping this one
>>
>>34510521
A short 14 year old boy with a deep tan and dirty blonde hair. He has a mousy face that is locked in a scowl with penetrating blue eyes.

His clothes are brown and ratty and somehow too small for him. One of his shoes has a hole his big toe sticks out of and he always carries a green sack slung over his shoulder.

Like many nomads, he never knew his father. His mother was a heavy drinker who cared for him little. He learned to take care of himself at an early age before venturing off on his own.

Although he scowls, he is not a mean person. He is quiet and sometimes short with people, but he always tries to do the right thing. This has not helped him though as people always judge him by his appearance and assume him a thief.

Above all, he wants a place where he belongs.
>>
I'm assuming we're supposed to be a kid.

Name: Gary.

Age: 12

Description: Permanently bound to his mount by paralysis.

>>
>>34510540
Adding to my earlier post. Bart is 32 years old, is moderately tan and has a bear-like build. He wears travel-worn light linen clothing and is armed with a shortsword
>>
>>34510636
10 through 20 was what I was thinking for the age range. Best time for an adventure.
>>
>>34510636
As a result of his affliction, he'd have to be given a pokemon earlier than most. He'd probably be an extremely skilled rider, obviously, but the turtwig would be likely to evolve after twelve years always together.
>>
>>34510647
Cont.

In his bag he carries food and basic supplies, a small rusted dagger, a flute he traded the last of his money for and can barely play, an old bottle of whiskey his mother owned now filled with water and a small orange hat he found on the road. It is in good condition and he plans to sell it.

Him and his Turtwig have been together as long as he remembers. They bonded at an early age. the Turtwig follows him around confused and useless always asking for food he never haves. Still they manage to keep each other happy with their company and are the closest of friends
>>
>>34510651
This, and within the age range if it would be that much of problem
>>
Some people wanna name him Bart, others Gary.

We should name him Barrey. Also, Berries are a thing in pokemon world so it works on two levels.

Life on the back of a giant reptile is different. Nomads learn how to live with just the bare essentials, rice, steel, and family. Moving in herds of up to a hundred, Torterra have been harnessed as mobile caravans. Barry grew up living in one such herd.

Like all nomads, Barry was given an egg, the partner he would live with for the rest of his life. At ten, Gary's egg hatched. Fast forward a few years, and the Turtwig has grown with his child, learning how to fight with beak and claw. Running and climbing the trees and stones in both the forest and herd has given Barry the beginnings of acrobatic skills, while the streets of the city often closed to nomads, gave him enough time to learn the thieves' art of picking pockets.

But now is the time all kids have. At the onset of puberty, Barry is to be sent off with Turtwig to learn of the world beyond the herd. A bag with food and water, a few Oran berries, and a dagger is passed to him on his 14th birthday. Barry is sent off into the world.

>two days later

"Damn its cold. Why did we have to be near Mt. Wenherst when I came of age?" thinks Barry, huddling next to his trusty partner Turtwig. The wind stirs the ratty blond mess on Barry's head, turning it west. Off in the distance, a small city glows in the darkness. Tomorrow should be a good day to...

>Field with a lake

The lake road seems short, and now is as good a time as any to fill up the water skin. Breaking down the tent and putting out the fire, you stand and wake Teddy from his nap. Little bugger sleeps whenever you are eating. Last time he ate was last month, might be time to get him some berries again. With Teddy walking at your side, you stride down the dirt path.

Three hours later, you are ankle deep in the cool mountain lake. Teddy is up to his neck at your side. The water is nice and slacks your thirst and fills the surrounding area with plant life. Tracks from wild pokemon are clear in the sand and mud around the water. There seems to be a large blue shell in the water as well. Bending to lift it, a spray of water blasts you in the face.

Rising off your butt in the water, you face the shooter. A blue shrimp with one large claw that it has pointed your way. Teddy has run to your side and is ready to attack.
>Wat do?
>>
>>34511560
Pick up Teddy so he does not drown in the (to him) deep water. Then try talking to the wild pokemon in a calm, soothing voice to get it to relax.

>Befriend the Clauncher

Cool, a wild pokemon. Never seen one of these before but it looks like a water-type. Wading back to the shore, you reach into one of the pockets in the bag. Pulling out a small bit of pemmican from it's bag, you place it close to you in the water.

Sitting on the beach with Teddy, you watch the creature crawl/swim through the water towards the mixture of berries and bidoof. Tentatively latching onto the food, the shrimp monster nibbles away. After finishing with the food clutched in it's claw, the pokemon swivels it's shelled head in search of food. The smell of more of the treat reaches it, and it scurries toward the new food. Just barely on the water, the food is snatched up. Another hour passes of this game, before the lobster pokemon climbs from the water in search of food.

Crawling into your arms the pokemon nibbles the pemmican in your hand. Looks like you made a new friend! Do you wish to name your friend? It says clauncher and snippets of that name.

It seems like catching (insert name) too to long, the city will have to wait.

>Hunt and Gather

The amount of food you and Carla have eaten in just a few days of living on your out has put a surprising dent in your rations. Setting to work remedying this, you turn right into the forest and ready your knife. Cutting a few branches and tying them into a small cage, which you leave on a game run. Looks like Ratatta or Raticate tracks. Leaving the trap, you climb into the trees in search of nuts or fruit. Luckily, some acorns are still on the oaks and can be made into some flour for pancakes. Just need some Combee honey. Near the lake, a thick patch of blackberries grow and are quickly picked.

By the end of the day, you go back and check the trap you made. A small Ratatta is caught in the bars, but is trying to escape. Judging from the bar it was chew, he almost got away. Having Carla spray down the beast, you snatch it and slit it's throat.

After a dinner of roast Ratatta and pancakes with blackberries for dessert, you settle in and feed your pokemon. Carla has some of the meat and Teddy eats for the first time in a while, gorging on blackberries and acorns. You might reach the city tomorrow, or you could keep hunting in this forest

>to the City

Picking up Carla and carrying her on top of your bag, you walk down the dirt road towards Bluerock City. Carla props herself up, looking out from her place on your back. This must be the first time she left the lake, which makes sense.

The trees have just began to change color, making the walk pass by quickly as you stare at the trees. A flick of white fur is visible and disappears before you can tell what it was. Another hour passes in which you have a completely sane conversation with your pokemon.

A rider streaks by, kicking up dirt from the hooves of his Zebraika. Wonder what is so important. Whatever, if it matters you would hear about it.

Reaching the gates of the city, you learn why it is called Bluerock. Stretching up into the sky, a blue stone castle sits on the hill. The walls round the cit are nothing to laugh at either, 20 feet tall with guards on the parapets.

"HALT! What is your business here nomad? A tall man in armor asks you, shocking you out of your stupor.
"Just passing through, need some supplies" you respond, pulling the purpose from your bank of innocent quotes.
"Fine, enter. Control those pokemon, or they shall be removed, nomad" The Man replies, before turning his gaze on the next person.

You have reached the city, now what?

Low(comparatively) on funds, the big city seems like the best possible spot for money making. Panhandling comes to mind, but is a bit degrading. Better to work for your money.

Working your way through the grid-like streets, you search for work
"hello sir, do you need a new worker?" is heard in all the inns, stables, guildhalls and the markets. You get a many offers, most being to buy something or get out. However a few people are willing to hire a young man.

Returning to the docks, you climb up the rope ladder attached to the pier. Searching the crowd of Machokes and sailors(they all look the same) for the captian, you spot the large man and his Machamp. Pulling to the side you discuss your employment.

"Son, I can use you for a cabin boy and for manning the crows nest. You won't be making as much as the rest of the men" the old sea captain tells you. "If thats alright with you, I can take you one for a trip, just to test you out. We're getting provisions loaded into the hold as we speak. Two days and we ship off to Solitary Island. >Train

At the mention of pirates, you decide to train your pokemon to the highest possible standard. Heading off into the forest, you look for a good training spot. Eventually, a clearing opens up and you stop. Having Teddy run at high(for him) speed, you have him fetch a large stick which you have been using for a walking stick. This seems to tire the little turtle out, prompting you to remember a move your older brother's Grotle knew. Talking the move out with Teddy makes him remember as well and he sets to work using on this move on a nearby tree. As you look over to Carla, who has grabbed a small bidoof in her large claw. A flash of green light behind you brings your attention to the now bare tree. A few Combees fall from the log and Teddy looks ready to play again.

Carla has finished with the bidoof, which you throw in your bag, and moved on to a Ratatta. Her claw slowly starts to glow a bright white, before closing down on the skull of the pokemon.

Then I say it's a messer!
I think any armour we buy will be too unweildy if we fall into to sea, so lets save that for when we return.

Seconded, on both counts

Buy a Sword (either Messer or Falchion), Bow and arrow, and leather armor.

We need something for range if we're fighting off pirates, the sword for when they get on board, and the leather armor is the only type that isn't suicide while on a ship

Ok, I was wondering if leather armor would be smart or not. Let's go for the leather armor, the messer, and the bow and arrows. Also, would some flaming arrows be a good idea? Or does the prevalence of water pokemon make that less than useful?
>>
So the general consensus seems to be getting:

A messer (50)
A bow and Arrows (40)
Leather armor (35)

That leaves us with 25

Fire can be handled with our water and a bow isn't really necessary for grass. Needing to take down Flying-type scout creatures or something I can see but they do still have to swoop down to attack, and their momentum can work against them if you just put your sword in the right place.

Yeah, it doesn't seem like we're going to be doing much organized battle.

From the advise of the salesmen, you get a long knife shaped sword with scabbard, a Gogoat recurve bow, and have the man size you up for some hardened leather armor. Slipping on the fitted armor, attaching the scabbard, and slinging the quiver onto your back, Barry is fully kitted to fight on the decks of the ship. You pull out your small stash of coins and pay for the gear. The salesmen even throws in a small piece of iron with straps on the side. Confused, he points down at Teddy and realization dawns on you. You bend and strap the steel onto Teddy's shell, tightening it so it doesn't slide around. You start to leave when the salesman calls out.

"copil noroc, rămâne în condiții de siguranță"

Strange, that was Tortrreain... the man must be an old nomad. You turn to respond, only to see the man slip out the back door. Nice guy, wonder why he left the herd.

You walk out of the Armory, and head for general store. Walking into a stone building with a large wheel shaped sign, you see goods spread out on the table. A good portion of the shop seems dedicated to a grain market, with chalkboards and white prices for the grain. A large crowd is centered around a table and sitting figure. All of them seem intent on the figure, leaving no attention for their belongs.

On the tables, are arrayed many goods, including some rock candy "Made from exotic rock typestm", honey candies, dried berries(pokemon and normal), knives, clothes, a collapsible telescope, and other things, to many to name.

Grabbing all the candies on display and the telescope from it's stand, you walk up to the counter and pay. The new supplies finish off your money, leaving you with only 3 pokedollars to your name. Asking the cashier about the figure, you learn that he rents part of the store from them. He buys all the grain and has set up a monopoly on it. Rich guy, the cashier says he could buy Blue Rock castle from the Jameson family.

You exit the store, and walk on to the dock and the Painted Wailord. The captain welcomes you and leads you to the cabin you will be sharing with the passenger.
"Ai son, thats a fine get up you have on there, ya scared of pirates?" the bearded man asks you.
"No, just thought it would be smart to get my gear sir" you respond, looking down at the fresh leather.
"Well good, ya look fine in armor son, just needs some saltin' 'fore it's good and strong"

You open the door to see the passenger has already gotten settled in. The boy is reclining in his hammock, swaying slightly with the waves. Standing up, he seems of age with you, maybe younger, as his face seems soft. Could be that he just eats more than what is normal for a nomad. About as tall as you, with dark black hair cut short around his face. Deep green eyes stare out at you, analyzing your every movement. Your attention is drawn to the thing in his hand, a book, which is illegible to you.
"I'm Jesse"
"Barry"
"Nice to meet you, Barry"
The introductions over, Jesse settles down into the hammock, showing you a small yellow spider staring out at the cabin. Jesse moves the spider back to it's resting place on his shoulder and opens the book, shutting you out. You put your pack and gear into your locker, and climb into your hammock with Teddy and Carla at your sides. Teddy rests his head on your stomach and Carla rolls up and falls asleep.

>Next day

You wake to Captain Diamond shouting orders and feel the hammock sway as the winds take the ship into the open ocean. Rolling out of bed, you stretch and gear up with the telescope hanging from your left hip and the messer hanging on the right. Climbing through the trapdoor, you are greeted by the captain and promptly told to get your butt up the mast before it is thrown overboard. Climbing the rigging, you see the whole ship arrayed beneath you. Three masts and an enclosed cabin space make up most of the visible ship, while below the deck the riches lie. Spices, silk, and textiles are being taken, and with luck only gold will be taken on the return trip.

The day passes where you sit in the crows nest with only your telescope as company. After a light lunch of roast Stantler and some fresh-ish bread, the mast is climbed once more and serves to hold the young man for the rest of the day. By the end, Barry stands a shade darker than when he started in the morning. You bring Jesse his dinner, for which he thanks you politely and returns to his book. After a dinner of meat, bread, and root vegetables, you have some spare time

You're a nomad, so fuck reading! Reading one language when you're a nomad is pointless because SO MANY OTHER LANGUAGES. So that leaves sailing, swordfighting, pokemon, or "other."

I'd say major in pokemon, because a Clawncher is your primary form of artillery, with a minor in bowfighting (because as a roaming nomad, you'll be shooting things off the back of your Torterra. Besides, you're going to be up in the crow's nest anyways!)

For the two weeks at sea, Barry Spends as much time as he can training with his pokemon. From mock battles with the much higher level Machokes, training on inanimate objects and dispatching any pokemon brought in by fishing lines, both Teddy and Carla learn more moves and grow stronger. When once a punch from a Machoke could KO Teddy, he can now tank them and get back some of his strength with Absorb. Teddy even learns how to launch the leaves on his head after making them razor sharp. Carla can also take a hit, but can't seem to use Absorb. Oh well, she make up for it by learning how to make explosive bubble with her claw.
+Razor Leaf

The spare moments in sailing are spent learning more of the sailor's trade. You observe the ways to trim a sail and reef it before the wind. A few times, Captain Diamond even teaches how to navigate using a metal tool and the stars. If you could read, it would make navigation easy, with all the words scribbled in the margins of the book you use. You learn the fastest ways to move through the ship's rigging, slinging on ropes from the main stay to the galley and back to the crows nest with ease.

Jesse continues to be quiet and spends most of the time in the cabin reading. You are able to get him to train his "Joltik" with you. Joltik is able to KO Carla, causing Jesse to give off a high scream of joy and hug Joltik. Carla doesn't like him much

The ship is pulling into harbor when the captain calls you in to his cabin, which is spotless due to you. He hands you a sack of 100 gold coins and asks you to escort Jesse to his uncle, a wealthy merchant. With that, you and Jesse set off into the city of King's Rock(which has no king)

>Take Jesse to his uncle

Deciding to play it safe, you take Jesse's hand and pull him through the crowd to the address given to you by the captain. At a lull in the tide of people you look back to a red-faced Jesse. Must not run a lot, you weren't going very fast. As the people move, you can see some numbers on on of the houses in the market district. Following them to 2470, you pull Jesse behind you and reach the gate of house, which is closer to a mansion, and talk to the man at the gate. After some negotiation, and many fingers pointed at Jesse, you are able to gain access to the mansion.

The marble columns, marble statues, and thick rugs that line the mansion hallway serve to intimidate and bewilder anyone seeking an audience with Jesse's uncle. However, Jesse just walks down the hall, oblivious to the riches around him. You stumble behind him, staring at the painted ceiling of the house.

Reaching the end of the corridor, you and Jesse enter the study of the rich Garfield Von Pumnick. You in salt and sweat stained leather, and pale Jesse in a velvet cape and silk tunic. The walls of the study are covered in maps, charts, and bookshelves. A large wooden desk sits in the middle of the room and a large man sits behind it. Looking up from the pile of paper beneath him, his small eyes flash in recognition of Jesse and dislike at you. Strange combination.

"Ah Jessie, good to see that you've arrived. I'm sure that you and your...escort are hungry" The fat man says as he rings a small silver bell. A large tan cat looks up then lowers it's head as a serving girl bursts in with a tray of sweets. "We can talk over dinner, does your boy need a ride back to the ship

>Ask to remain with Jesse

"Captain Diamond asked me to escort Jesse, sir. It would not be good if I left my charge and returned to the ship. I ask that I be allowed to remain, sir" You speak for the first time, pulling out all the stops to sound like a normal citizen. Hopefully he won't notice your accent.
"Very well, it seems that that would be for the best" the man replies, dismissing you from conversation. He struggles out of his chair and the sleek cat rises from it's bed. With the cat flanking him, Garfield leads the way to the dining hall, a course covered often judging from his mass. Sitting yourself down at the side of Jesse, serving girls swarm out of the kitchen doors. A steaming Corphish is placed in front of each of you, and food for the pokemon is served on a smaller knee-high table. Von Pumnick tears into the dish, breaking the claws open with a small hammer. You and Jesse begin, at a much reduced rate.

"Now Jessie, what news have you that your father sends his heir? Surely a common messenger or a Tranquill would have sufficed? the fat man says as the mutilated carcass is pulled away.
"No uncle, my father sent me because this news is too important for commoners and their birds. The hoennians have started a civil war and are incapable of of feeding themselves. It was thought that with the grain my father owns, and your plantations, we could make much off this war" Jesse recites dully, seemingly uninterested in the prospect of war.
"Well then, that is good news" the fat man rubs his hands greedily, "I shall set to work on this immediately. Once we are finished eating, I shall draw up some papers. Would you like to spend the night? I know how dreadful ship quarters are"
"Thank you uncle, we would be delighted to stay under your roof" Jesse recites tiredly, merely going through the motions.
>>
After dinner, you are led up the stairs to your rooms. When you make to join Jesse in his room, the manservant stops you and points at a door across the hall. Private rooms. Swanky.

The next day you are sent off after a large breakfast that went on till lunch. By the time you escape, you have a little time to do something with Jesse

The prospect of new pokemon has you ready to explore the island. Grabbing hold of Jesse again, you sprint through the mob to the wall. Following the curve of the wall, you reach a gate leading out into a series of plantations, then dense jungle. You release the hand of Jesse, who is red again. Someone needs to do cardio. You pull out your messer and walk down the game trail. Roots poke up and try to trip you, but you deftly step over the reaching tendrils. Jesse is less fortunate and falls on you, sending both of you tumbling into the undergrowth. You hear a splash and then a yelp of surprise. You stumble over to the wet Jesse and see a large frog standing on it's hind legs. The frog, oozing out a short croa, before walking forward. The pokemon reaches down at Jesse, oblivious to the face poking out of the brush. It begins to poke him, letting out a series of short crocrocro. The pokemon grabs Jesse's hand and pulls him up, to stand over the frog pokemon. Jesse begins to walk back towards you, with the pokemon waddling in time with him. Your gonna get along well with this guy.

Now accompanied by a native, the party wanders down the game trail, which winds to the side of a large cliff facing the sea. A small blue pokemon is about to run off the cliff! Running the pokemon's rescue, you snatch it up as it jumps at the worn smooth ledge. The pokemon opens it's eyes to see the ocean beneath it, not moving closer, in fact moving away! With a joyous cry of "GON", the pokemon turns and notices the strange browned being holding it. A few pieces of bidoof jerky and a few more jumps and the group heads back the way it came, now holding two new members

>To the gardens

Deciding on the botanical gardens, Jesse is now the one to grab a hand and pull. He doesn't run though, moving at a slightly above walking pace. By the time you reach the gardens, Jesse is red again. Telling ya, cardio is needed here. Walking through gates, which are made to look like twin Bellsprouts, you see a winding path through carefully cultivated plants. Thats what botanical means, was wondering. Croagunk has taken to grabbing the paw of Bagon(insert name) and pulling him around, then snickering. The two of you wander the groves, passing fruit trees that feed you supper, large flowering plants that have a sample taken by Jesse, strange spiny green plants in sand, and an aboveground pond with a glass wall. Through out the garden, you spot groups of men and women, all paired up. As the sun sets in the ocean, your pair of humans and gaggle of pokemon leaves the gardens by means of a cliffside road. Bagon only runs for it once, seems like he's learning. Your pair reaches the Painted Wailord by nightfall and crowd into your cabin.
