>Introduction & Summary:

You smirk at Lucky Glauber trying to talk shit and "Rattle your cage" while you silently hop back and slip into your fighting stance as he crouches down and looks ready to tear you a new one, the crowd on the edge of their seats as the 3rd (And hopefully final) round of this opening match of "The King of Fighters: Infinite Match" starts. In truth, you could hear that he's (Rightly) pissed off at you after "Perfect'ing" his best friend Heavy D! in Round 1 and winning that little "Dance-Off" you had with Duck King in the last round as he runs towards you with that unique dash of his (Which mimics your own "Raijin Sprint" fairly well, actually) and you use your own technique to pass through him... However, your follow-up attack (A standing Hard Kick) misses as he pulls off an impressively-timed standing dodge and goes for a throw, though you break free of his grip and back away.

Lucky doesn't give you any room to breath though as he does a pretty-slick-looking diving kick towards you ("Death Heel"), then tries to land a "Stiff"-looking punch to your mid-section.Though you were able to block both attacks, his superior limb-length made trying to counter-hit him no easy task... Which is when an idea almost as crazy as deciding a round of a martial arts competition through breakdancing hits you: "Fuck it, let's pop this cherry and win NOW."

You see Lucky leaping towards you while "Spiking" a ball of Ki that feels, looks and even sounds like a basketball and "Power-Up" to activate the greatest offensive trick you have in your arsenal: "Shōmei-ō Katja"...

[1/2]
>>
>>34556300

A bolt of electricity envelopes you and hits Lucky head-on, nullifying his Ki as your body tingles from all the little bits of static electricity rubbing between your skin and your clothes (Black Tank-Top that shows off, but not TOO much, Red Camo Pants and some "Shit-Kicker" Boots you've worn riding motorcycles most of the time) and you run towards him with a "Hien Shippu Kyaku", hitting Lucky just as he was just about to get up and locking him into a "50/50 Guessing Game" (Or "Vortex", as that sham of a Street Fighter tournament tried to coin once upon a time). Fortunately for you, he guesses wrong and you punish him with an extra-large "Ha'oh Raijinken" that "Dizzies" him long enough to give you a tiny amount of time to ponder what to do next...

What's without a shadow of a doubt, though, is that you are Katja Hartkern, this is the first step towards becoming financially solvent and making history with two of your best friends (As an all-female team has yet to win a KoF Tournament) and right now you feel like shutting down whatever Lucius "Lucky" Glauber and "The Soul of The Streets" Team had planned for a (Frankly ridiculous) comeback... And you couldn't be happier about that.

===

>Your Health: 100%

>Lucky's Health: 66% and dropping slightly... ("Chip" Damage)

>Your Ki: N/A ("Shōmei-ō Katja" active)

>Lucky's Ki: 56%, 1 bar of Ki)

Under any other circumstances, you probably would've just stayed a little bit away from him and maybe went for a throw and "Powered-Down" from "Shōmei-ō Katja" to give him a chance to fight back and make this a little bit more entertaining for you... But this isn't any old fight now, isn't it?

You ready your fists and go for a move you had created from scratch and hopefully helps you stand out from the other Kyokugenryuu practitioners out there (As if the electricity, your distance/expulsion from the Dojo and, well, your look in general weren't enough already) yell ""Fuujin to Raijin no TENSHOUKEN!!!" with each glorious hit of your multi-stage uppercut.

"Holy SHIT!" you hear yourself think as your fist rockets both of you into the sky and launches Lucky into the bay as a couple of "Frogmen" stationed on some nearby boats immediately go into the water fetch him.

===

>"RING OUT!"
>"KO!!"
>"THE WOMEN'S TEAM WINS!!!"
>"PERFECT!"
>"One Fighter VICTORY!"

===

King & Yuri practically hoist you up onto their shoulders the moment you "Powered-Down" out of "Shōmei-ō Katja" and started pumping your fists like crazy, the boat that held the Emcee docking with the barge so he could do an on-the-spot interview before the rest of the press corps mob the three of you once you get up off this floating "Stage'.

>"Damn, The Women's Team came out to represent To-DAY!"

He crows into his microphone to the crowd, some of them giving you a few boos but generally cheering the three of you as the Emcee puts you "On-the-Spot" with his next question.

>"How'd you get so strong though?! Your skills made all three of these guys look like chumps out there!"

>A. "Hard work, hard work and MORE hard work!"

>B. "I've been trainin' fer' this for a LOOONG time mate; I was kinda' gettin' worried it wasn't actually gonna happen..."

>>
>>34557953

"Oh, I've been trainin' fer' this for a LOOONG time mate; I was kinda' gettin' worried it wasn't actually gonna happen..." you start to say, but quickly add "But I'm strong because I got these two 'ere to beat up on me and bounce stuff off of" with a smile.

You wrap your arms around Yuri & King's shoulders as the Emcee doesn't seem to be particularly impressed with your answer.

>"But you scored Two perfects and made the third guy forfeit!"

"And I wouldn't have had the confidence to do that if my mates here did help grind me down t'the ground every day fer' like two months" you fire back.

"She's right" Yuri says, looking to stick up for you on this one. "She learned a lot of stuff from sparring with me and has helped me get stronger too."

"Same here" King adds. "Katja has worked harder than just about anyone to fight in this tournament and all of that time's paid off..."

The feeling that welling up in your chest's indescribable as the Emcee pauses, looking like he had (Rightly) fucked up and decides to change track.

>"OK, OK I can see that... But tell me: How's it feel being the first fight in KoF history to get an OCV in their first match? And a practically-perfect one at that?"

"Better than you could believe, mate" you tell him with a breath, admitting "But I'm just glad that I got t'show what I could do, get the pressure off me fer' a sec' and just focus on goin' ahead and WINNING this thing with my best friends."

>"So you'll be fighting last in the next match in the tournament then?"

"We'll see" you say as the press corps arrive, most of them shamelessly asking if you were in collusion with Duck King in that second match and if you paid off "The Soul of The Streets Team" to take a dive, souring the mood of your accomplishments tremendously.

"So THIS is how they keep you down..." You think as you try to remain calm as Yuri & King seem to share where you might be coming from about accusations as strong as these are...

Two perfects and a surrender (winning a dance-off against the best dancer in the tournament) by the new blood in the Women's Team against arguably one of the weakest teams in the tournament.

It might not be much, but it's trying to be something. For what it's worth, the Women's Team didn't struggle in the first round; they unequivocally dominated. At absolute minimum, they have to be on "dark horse watch."
>>
>>34560928
The issue is that the dominance was so resounding that it's looped back into conspiracy.
>THERE'S NO WAY the Women's Team is suddenly this good.
>This new blood took out an entire team by herself with basically three perfects? Impossible.
>Even the Soul of the Streets Team can't be THAT bad.
>>
>>34560986
>Even Kyo's debut wasn't this good.
>Or that of K'.
>>
>>34561246

The only fighter in SNK Canon to ever get close to a debut like this was Ash Crimson, and THAT was because the character designer had a hand in developing the Ash Saga.

>>34560839
>>34560869

A small part of you just wants to grab Yuri & King and just leave; The mixture of emotions rolling around your mind about all of this is slowly starting to get to you and frankly, you're disgusted at how the press hacks are seemingly doing everything they can to try and sell one of the King of Fighter's tournament's most historic moments and the greatest start your team has ever had short... Yet, you know that if you had just stormed off and didn't say anything (Or worse, try to shout these fuckers down or accuse THEM of creating all of this in the first place) probably would've lead to jumping to conclusions to fit copy, which would lead to even worse accusations and chaos you and your friends don't need.

So you try to calmly quiet them down at first with some humor, particularly answering the first "How much did you pay them off?" charge.

"C'mon guys, y'think I've enough got the money to "Pay people off"?" you ask, then truthfully (Well, OK, maybe stretching JUST a little bit) admit "Fact is I'm broke, got these clothes at a surplus store fer' 90% off and couch-surf at friend's houses'n'pads fer' places t'stay."

>"But what about that "Dance-Off" with Duck King?"

"I honestly can't tell ya' what made him do that" you answer, more than a hint of truth in your voice because honestly, you had no fucking clue as to what could've possessed him to try and dance his way to victory. "Maybe he got nervous about the first round and thought he coulda' gotta' easy victory?"

"Not to tread in on my friend's question, but knowing Duck King for as long as I have, If you you challenge him to a dance like that he'll take it as seriously as fighting" King chips in as the microphones and tape recorders crowd around the three of you.

[1/?]
>>
>>34561589

"Are you positive of that?" one of the reporters asks and King nods, explaining "To him, fighting and dancing are one in the same. To lose in either probably doesn't make a difference to him."

You're taken back by King's insight (Along with the press, it seems) and can sense that the short amount of silence that followed was more of a realization that "Oh shit, these gals are actually dark-horses this year" instead of "Fake, paid comment from someone in on it" and one of them .

>"This was one of the most dominant performances in King of Fighter's history and THE most impressive fight by a newcomer in a long time Katja; How do you feel about it? In fact, how do your teammates feel about it too?"

"I ain't gonna lie, I had dreams about doin' somethin' like this fer' a little bit when I heard that these guys were our first opponents'n'all, but to have it happen..." you start to say, then feel your throat close up and tears of joy start to well up and Yuri moves in to cover you and give you a quick hug for the ca

"We've through a lot together as a team leading up to this fight and, well... I'dunno, I can't think of cooler way to start the tournament off; Can you?" she asks with a devilishly cute smirk.

"Yeah... But y'know, I try to think about it and take it like it's just one fight at a time y'know? So yeah, today happened and that's awesome, but we got bigger fish out there t'fry" you choke out as Yuri & King start to lead you and the throngs of press off of the barge and back towards the medical center to get a check-over and some precautionary bandage-ups (If you need them, of course!) as the weight of today and what you just achieved hits you harder than you hit Lucky Glauber... And can't help but feel blessed to have 'mates like Yuri & King to help you through it all when you get your "A-OK" sign from the head doctor and are cleared to fight in the next round of this wild and crazy tournament.

[2/3]
>>
>>34561958

You were still thinking about the two fights you had over dinner back at "The Lodge", your silence noticeable enough for Yuri to comment on it.

"Hey... What's up Katie?"

You shrug and start to admit "I'dunno... It's like I've never been happier before when it's come rt'somethin' like this, but..."

"But...?"

"... I kinda feel empty a little bit, y'know?" you admit, looking to get to that pit in your heart about it all.

"Those jerks getting to you, huh?" Yuri asks.

"Maybe... But yeah, they really know how t'take the wind right outta your sails huh?" you ask, that nagging feeling of emptiness getting diluted and gaining weight from something MORE than that...

King breaks you out of your inner reflection by admitting "How you managed to keep a straight face and NOT go berserk one of them is beyond me Katja."

You shrug and tell her "I ain't used to things goin' my way like that I guess; It made it easier t'answer questions like that t'me."

You pause for a little bit and play a little bit with your food, then add "I always get lost tryin' t;find easy street and fight my way through every little bloody thing... And I guess I'm worried that I mighta' used up all of my good luck or somethin', I'dunno."

"Dude, didn't my dad teach you anything? "You make your own luck through hard work and peace of mind" Yuri says, then asks you "We all know you work hard, but how'd you feel out there? nervous?"

"A little..."

"But was it a "Oh god, I'm out of my league nervous?" Or a "Heck yeah, let's GO already nervous?" she asks again and you can't help but agree with her.

"I getcha sunshine" you say with a nod. "And that IS somethin' I'm tryin' t'get better at..."

"And I think you did pretty damn good today on that" King admits before she takes a sip from her wine glass.

"If I could do somethin' like that Mr. Karate, or that Kusanagi bloke..." you start to say, then drop it; "No point in waiting for demons to laugh" Takuma Sakazaki's voice rings in your ear...

>Days until "The Women's Team" next fight in "The Infinite Match": ?

You quietly excused yourself from dinner after Yuri had said that, the toll of dealing with all of the negative attention that followed catching up to you. However, all of that extra sleep made so that you woke up nearly 2 Hours early and couldn't fall back to sleep. For some reason, you didn't feel particularly sore, but didn't start stretching just yet and went to grab your lap-top to catch up on what the press covering "The Infinite Match" wrote about the fight you had yesterday.

And somehow touched your phone getting yourself situated in bed, finding that you had received quite a few text-messages that you slept through. Curious, you scroll through all... TEN of them? Shit, that fight must've been seen by more people than you thought...

>Terry B: "Looking good Rookie! Can't wait to spar with you when we get back to Southtown."

>Big Slick (Robert Garcia): "Bellisimo!"

>Fiona Graves: "damn... u stronger than i thought :3"

>Tsuya-Tsuya: "Pic Related"

>Bobby Wilson: "Your fight was a big hit at the Pao Pao. Boss wants to host an autograph signing if your team makes it back to town in one piece"

And a few more people you don't even recognize (Spam and adds most likely), but one in particular stands out to you:

>Anonymous: "Kathy? Is it really you.....? (Don't ask how I got this number ;-) I might have to kill you if I did :-D )

Something in how that last message read seemed eerily familiar to you, though you couldn't quite put a finger on it... Whatever, you can sleep on that one; Right now, you want to check the "Official" website for this KoF gig... And see yourself on the front page, the tag-line "Breakdancing BLOW-OUT: The Women's Team win BIG" along with a shot of you KO'ing Lucky Glauber with Yuri & King's faces suitable for framing.

You smile at that for a brief second or two, then read the article that image's attached to and... Find that it's OK. A little bit of a "Reality-Check" kind of piece, but the author has a point (No matter how inflammatory it might be to you):

>"Even though Hartkern's feat will probably go unmatched for a very long time, one can't help but think what she might have done if her opponent was the caliber of, say, Kyo Kusanagi or Terry Bogard, two fighters who had achieved their OCV's against MUCH stiffer competition."

"OK, fair enough; Those blokes suck and I just highlighted that" you ponder while scanning the rest of the article, the author agreeing with your assessment that regularly sparring with Yuri Sakazaki & King had helped mold you into the "Tough, take-no-prisoners" fighter he(?) thinks you are. However... :

>"That said, this fight will be an interesting comparison for when "The New Gorgeous Team" squares off against "True Garou Densetsu Team" in a few days time, as none of their opponents can betaken lightly."

"Kay... Guess I gotta show'em it wasn't luck next time" you think as you switch your lap-top on to "Sleep" and start stretching to break that slightly sore feeling in your joints, that itch to test yourself yet again driving you forward...

>Pause(/End?) updates

OK Anons, I have to take care of some late-evening gardening (Don't laugh; it was over 100 Degrees Farenheit in the middle of the day when I got home) and will be gone for up to hours at least... If this thread 404's before I get back in to check in on it, no worries; A new thread will start up slightly later tomorrow (11 AM PST / 2 PM EST).

However, the current voting field IS open and votes will be tallied into either the next update in this thread or the opening post tomorrow.

Thanks to all participated today and I hope to see y'all soon!

You bask in the afterglow of reading that article (Which, nit-picks aside was generally positive) and feel that certain... "Lift" you usually get to drag your lazy ass out of bed and start stretching. After about an hour you've gone all the way through your routine (Advaned porting and all!) with nary a chink or hint of tightness in your body and grab your swimming gear for one last day swimming laps in the fitness center's pool... Only to spot a couple of die-hard reporters (That you recognized from yesterday) staked out in the hallway, sleeping soundly and waiting for you to emerge for some more inane to ask you.

"Shii~iiit..." you inwardly groan as you oh-so quietly trundle out of your room and tip-toe your way down the hallway and make it into the hotel's "Fitness Center" undetected (No mean feat, especially as isn't supposed to be open for another hour). Breathing easier, you strip out of your shirt and shorts and dive in, the one-piece that Shermie practically gave you eons ago paying for itself and then some right now.

You get through it alright and are already re-acclimating to the whole "OK, back to training for the next fight" mindset you had before yesterday and are greeted by those paparazzi from the hallway when you pull yourself out of the water.

"Go on and snap away boys; I'll be callin' security in just a second" you teasingly threaten them as you towel yourself off and keep smiling for the cameras.

"Do Yuri Sakazaki & King get up this early and train with you?" one of them asks.

"No, not usually" you kindly reply, adding "I don't usually get up this early either. Excuse me..."

You madeyour way back to your hotel room to change into some 'Normal" clothes (And maybe do some laundry before hitting the road... Soon?) for breakfast, all of those pesky reporters they had all been nicely escorted off the grounds of the hotel to leave yourself, Yuri & King some peace and quiet for a little bit...

[1/2]
>>
And my internet's slowing down as usual... JUST great.

>>34568283

You slink off to "The Lodge" for one last free breakfast and think over what might be on the docket for today as you munch on some Belgian Waffles (Well, can't help to indulge a tiny bit after yesterday) and Eggs... When King drowsily walks in still in her pajamas (Which, oddly, give off the silhouette of one of her suits).

"Hey" you offer as she nods and goes to take her order, eventually sitting down across from you with a cup of coffee in-hand.

"You're up" she starts to say, then yawns. "Early, huh?"

"Yeah, I went t'bed early y'know? So I got up early and figured it was best t'get goin' instead of lazing about like some wally" you explain in between bites of your breakfast.

"Huh..." King says, sounding like a verbal question mark more than acknowledgement.

"You hung-over mate?"

"No..." Another yawn. "Just tired from staying up to check in with our appearances and stuff."

"Kay, what d'we have planned today?"

"Just a few lines for some podcast lead-ins from all three of us, then a couple of meetings with the organizers about where we're going next" King explains, sounding slight more awake.

"You havin' a giggle mate? We seriously won't know until tonight where we're going?"

"That's what the person representing the committee told me over the phone" she replies before taking another sip of java as her breakfast arrives. "Of course, they used to do this all the time back in the old days... I'll tell you what, it isn't nice having to show up in Bahrain a week ahead of the fight, argue with the customs agents over getting the right permits to travel without an appointed male chaperone and only JUST show up in time for the fight..."

"Damn.." is all you could say about that before just about cleaning off your plate.

"They did tell me that there won't be any of that kind of red-tape to deal with this time around though" King adds before she starts to enjoy her breakfast.

>Updates Officially Resume

>You're still in direct control of Katja Hartkern (For the moment at least)

>The Days until "The Women's Team" next fight in "The Infinite Match" & Date remained unchanged

>Time of Day: 7:35 AM

"Well, that's good" you dutifully add, then get up from your table and tell King "I'm gonna go wake sleepin' beauty up and do some stretches with her..."

"Be careful; Last time I tried that I nearly got slapped in the face" King muses.

"Oh, I know; She can get pretty jumpy in her sleep sometimes..." you admit, pondering what could've subconsciously prompted Yuri to try and land her "Hyakuretsu Binta" in her SLEEP while walking back towards Yuri's room.

"Oi, rise and shine sweetie!" you yell while knocking on her door... To no response. "OK, maybe she's just bein' her lazy self..." you cheerfully try to think as you knock again. "C'mon Sunshine! Y'ain't tryin' t'pull a fast one on me now, are ya?"

Again, no response...

You know fora fact that Yuri sleeps like a log and have joked with Ryo & Robert how she could probably sleep through World War II breaking out, but you still can't help but feel a little nervous when you go to try and open her room's door, casually walking inside to find a window left open.

"Oh shit" you hear your mind instinctively say as you look towards Yuri's bed, seeing her head peeking out from under the covers and hearing her snore loudly.

"Kay, nice t'see she's awright" you mumble, then think of what could be the best way to wake her up WITHOUT getting a slap to the face (Or worse; Didn't she try to land some souped-up Ko-Ou-Ken on you one time?)...

You toy with grabbing a bucket of ice water to dump over her, or impersonating Robert Garcia and whispering something about "Chocolate Thunder raining down on you" if doesn't wake up quick in her ear... But instead whisper "Hey, Yuri, Let's get goin' yeah?"

That seems to do it as she starts to stir a little bit, then lazily opens one of her eyes to see if it's really you. "Hey, rise and shine Yuri; We got a lot of stuff t'do today, y'know?"

"Just five more minutes" she whines

"You got accepted to attempt the Breast Cancer Awareness challenge, mate" you start to fib, Yuri's "Mmm?" the perfect set-up for this idea to get her up out of bed.

"It involves dunking a bucket of cold water on ya' if y'don't get yer' ass in gear, sweetie."

"That woke her up alright" you ponder as Yuri throws the covers off of her and sits up, looking like she had seen a ghost in her half-sleep.

"Wot? yer'dad dumped water over my head more times than I could count" you offer as Yuri starts to stretch.

"Yeah..." she starts to say, then admits "What time is it anyway?"

"Quarter t'Eight, I think" you ponder. "Why?"

"I'dunno, it's like my internal clock just goes "OK, let's go!" and I just wake up around 8 AM" Yuri considers as she goes through the same old stretching routine.

"I guess I just got up early and was goin' t'head out with you'n'King to take care of some public relations shit" you explain while mimicking a few of Yuri's moves.

Should've put down "[1/3]" instead of 2, sorry.

"Really?"

"Yeah... It's a just a few interviews, a coupl'a'voice-overs and maybe some photo-ops before a check-in with whoever's out official KoF rep and then we're done" you explain.

"Do you know where we're going next?"

"Eh, later today they'll clue us in on that" you tell her, King's words coming out of your mouth.

"Same old King of Fighters alright..." Yuri mutters as she finishes up her stretches. "OK, let me get changed and I'll be ready whenever you and King are."

"Gotcha sunshine" you tell her as you head back over to King in "he Lodge" to tell her what's up...

Train hard and long beforehand (Uncommon for you, but still have to fit in somehow right?), Kick ass, take names, hope on a plane and do it all over again; The life of a King of Fighter's contestant in a nutshell... You can't help but think about the fight yesterday as you ride in the back seat of Draco's hire-car, the man himself up in front and that candy-ass Kazahaya next to you as the three of you head out to the airport, god-knows what you'll do for an "Off-Week"...

2/3]
>>
>>34580688

Draco had gone down swinging in the First Round, but did enough that he KO'ed Bogard to send up Kazunori Kazahaya & Joe Higashi (Who had quite a bit of a history, it seems if they're pre-fight smack-talk was any indication) and, though it was pretty back-and-forth kind of gig lead to Higashi getting the TKO after Kazahaya was able to sit upright, but couldn't stand... Which meant it was all up to you to take this fight from them and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

For almost 90% of KoF fighters, this was no easy task, but then again you aren't just any old martial artist are you? Hell, you got into watching and practicing your Pro-Wrestling moves in the first place because you were getting bored with the same old "Crack Neck/Break Knees/Gouge Eyes"-kind of self-defense style most of NESTS were taught (Agents, Scientists & Desk-Jockeys alike) and wanted to do something... "Fun" you guess.

You can still hear the crowd roar as you close your eyes for a little cat-nap, Kazahaya blathering on about going out to Lake Michigan and performing for bums or something to Draco...

You can see that the last fight this Joe guy had took a lot out of him and throw up your hands with your trademark "Bullhorns" taunt and stick your tongue out at him for a little bit before putting up your hands as the fight officially starts. You strongly thought about holding back a little bit from seeing Joe over-extend and "Drop" certain combinations of attacks during the last round with Kazahaya, but think better of it and start to rush him down, using your super-speed to stick with him and lash out with non-"Circle Chain" punches and kicks to start off.

You smirk at him as he seems incapable of answering your speed and dexterity, that "Lizard" part of your brain that would as you feel like crushing this guy with the heel of your feet... But get a rude awakening when he punishes a small mistake with a rising Knee to the face ("Weak" "Tiger Kick"). You roll back to your feet with a Ukemi and easily dodge Higashi's "Hurricane Uppers" and start laying some pressure on him again, smacking him with "Citizens of the World" (A gut punch) to possibly start your "circle" of attacks... But instead fake him out and go for an easy "Counter-Throw", which at first glance looks like another punch to the gut, but changes when you zip around and smack him upside the back his skull.

You grin at what should be an easy knock out, but are shocked to see Joe get back up after that and spit something out of his mouth (A tooth maybe, or it could be some blood; You don't honestly care either way) and see him launch his foot towards you, yelling "Slash Kick!"

However, you dash under him with a burst of super-speed and grab him, cancelling out his planned barrage of punches and hold him by the neck for a second or two as he struggles to break free...

[1/2]
>>
>>34583022

... Then KO him for good with an inward axe-kick that pops his body up into the air and sends him crashing down into the hot sands of Copacabana Beach. Not to say that it was a "Clean" Knock-Out though; Higashi tried his damndest to stagger up to his feet for the full 10-Count, but ultimately gave in at the last moment to hand you the "Technical" victory.

>"KO!"

You can see Mr. "Legendary Lonely Wolf" himself (Terry Bogard) help prop his buddy as the paramedics rush to him, then brushes off a spec of blood from that cheesy-looking jacket before walking to you and officially entering the designated "Stage" (Which, strangely, was marked only by a black line spray-painted onto the beach itself).

"Things are really heating up, huh?" he asks, looking oddly calm and sounding strangely cheerful for a man that had watched his own brother and a good friend get beaten to paste.

'Why, do you like what you see Mr. Scary Wolf?" you flirt, sticking out your generous "Assets" a little bit as the camera guys (and girls) snap pictures.

"Hey now, we got kids watching this thing" he says, then admits "And while wolves are pretty scary, they're not half as scary as you are out here."

"Oh? Well then, Wolfie, why don't you run off with your tail between your legs? You've got a girl waiting for ya', right?" you ask, winking at him with that "Killer Smile" that helped you get the job as "NESTS Top Enforcer" almost as much as your combat skills.

"Why, yes I do, but I'm not scared of a cookie like you. I know how scary women fight..." He fires back, then yells "OK, let's go!" as the final round officially starts (And you zip-up your top again).

You thought about going whole-hog and bashing Terry's face in as the round started, but didn't want to risk it when he launched a "Round Wave" to stop your running slide cold. Thankfully, his Power Geyser" follow-up missed and you were able to land a hopping light punch (Well, more a head-slap really) and land your "Beyond Frames" Gut-Punch (This one with a ring of fire around your feet, you were so amped-up fighting him) that knocked him far enough away from you so you could get some breathing room and start thinking of a plan... Though not exactly as much time as you wanted though, because Terry managed to do a Ukeki out of that attack and fired back with "Burning Knuckle!" (or "Bomb-Yakku" to your ear, considering how thick his accent can be) and ran towards him, Terry locking you down a little bit and slowly backing you into the corner of this stage.

You feel like you've got your back up against an invisible wall as he tries to break open your defense, but you hold your guard and break his throw to start up a pretty good "Chain-Circle Combination": A Quick jab with your left hand, followed by an over-hand right that swiftly transitions into your "Red Sky of Japonesia" attack-throw (Tripping him up with your long, strong legs) that sends him flying and crashing down to the ground HARD... Though once again, not hard enough to knock him out entirely, as he brushes off the referee and 'Powers up", his body getting a golden glow that could even be seen in the harsh mid-day sun.

"Kay, time for PAIN" you think as he runs you down yet again and block his beefed-up attacks with aplomb... However, he's gotten faster and don't feel "Safe" punishing his reckless advances when you feel your guard break as you get ROCKED by a super-charged Burning Knuckle he dubs "The Buster Wolf!" and sends you flying from the ring of energy around his feet... Though curiously enough, you don't fly out of the ring and look up at him, a murderous glare in your eyes.

Note that Terry's text to Katja says he looks forward to seeing her back in Southtown. This implies that Terry didn't lose here.

Besides, if Angel's team is out, this gives them more free time for additional shenanigans, whether on Jean-Claude's behalf or otherwise.
>>

If you look at the roster though, there's a big "Open Slot"that could be the "Off-Week" Angel was pondering about... Plus, Weasel has a HUGE boner for these guys, so I can see them actually winning.

>>34586674

You can taste blood start to pool in the back of your throat and feel a pretty deep cut in the side of your mouth from gritting your teeth and ache as you get up and tell the referee counting you out "I'm OK; I can do this" to the shock of the spectators off to the side and the curious beach-goers on the other side of the stage. The look of shock on Terry Bogard & Kazunori Kazahaya's faces were almost worth the price for how much your body's aching as the fight continues on... And sure enough

Every fiber in your body and your inner voice is yelling 'What are you waiting for? Run-in and KILL THIS FUCKER NOW!" and while you consider it, you ignore your head and go with your gut and run in to try and trick Terry into making a mistake, his spooked expression and body language telling you all you need to know... You "Powe-Up" and run after him, jumping in with a diving kick that starts up another "Chain Circle Combination" of high and low kicks as you look to try and go all in for the win... Except you feel that last hit of your 6-Hit assault get blocked and countered with a "Rising Tackle" ("RISANG TACO!") and feel like a screwdriver's blasting upwards into the sky.

Curiously, you don't feel that much power behind the attack and easily recover to look to try and go for your "Hail-Mary" attack: "Loyalty Test For Liberalists", a Desperate move for a desperate situation (And one that you feel comfortable in and out of your "Chain Circle" attacks)... But feel Terry roar towards you with his shoulder out-stretched and going for his "Power Dunk" uppercut, panic and land the hardest standing kick you can muster just as the attack hits you. If it had come out before your guard had gotten broken by his "Buster Wolf", you might've made through it and won, but this was too much to bear and you get launched out towards the edge of the ring again, not enough energy to try and get back up...

"Hey... We're here bandaged beauty" you hear Kazahaya's voice worm it's way into your ear.

"Hmm...?" you ask as a gloved hand rests on your shoulder, hints of an intricate arm tattoo peeking out of the sleeve of his collared shirt.

"We gotta get on the flight back to the states and patch ourselves up for the Rematch next week" he reminds you, then asks Draco "You think you can be up to runnin' Sunday though? Belle Isle's fucking BUMPY..."

"Yeah... Doesn't feel like he broke anything; Just bruises" he tells him, then adds "Besides, if that new "Medicine man" who owes a favor is worth the money, I'll be fine."

"Yeah, he better be" Kazahaya tells him, then asks "Need a lift?"

You feel your body ache with the force of a thousand burning suns, but Draco cuts you off by saying "I'll handle this one Kaz."

"No, I'M walking out tough guy" you tell the two of them as you step out of the hire-car to the greeting of several reporters and camera crews... And stumble just enough that Draco he hops out and grabs you, Kazahaya weaseling his way under your other arm as the cameras snap photo incessantly, stories of "Rigged Matches" and "Paid-Off Referees" filling the air and clouding just how strong the three of you seem to be...

"Fuck... Just hope I can stick around to catch up with Kathy" you think as the security guards start to clear out the throngs of press hacks that are blocking your way to the "International Departures" gate terminal at Guarulhos International, visions of the two of you "Bro'ing it up" and bashing poor schmucks faces in from the old days filling your head...
