/tg/ - Traditional Games

Stage 30: Knowing is half, acting is half, and those two little dots win it.

The house is silent for the moment. Well, mostly silent – Yui is snoring softly, Kiki is n the shower, and the noises from Er Yin-sensei and Kiku-chan's room are definitely not talking or sleeping noises.

All right, so the house isn't silent at all. But right now, you feel like the world is silent, or at least muffled. It's not entirely real, what happened to you on the wall as you greeted the sun. Well, it WAS real, there is no doubt in your mind. It just doesn't feel quite real. Even as you absently prepare a plate of fresh made takoyaki, decorated with little splashes of hot sauce and a few fillets of minnow, you can imagine you are dreaming or that the world is dreaming you. In a couple of cases that might be true.

Stepping outside, you place the dish away from the door, on the corner of the walkway. Clapping twice, you make the offering to the nekomata Rie, and bow before clapping twice more. Your pretend not to hear the cat walking along the eaves above your head as you go inside, and slip inside the house silently while locking the door behind you. Ordinarily, you would have been worried, nervous, maybe a touched panicked, but right now....you could swear you're basking in the afterglow of the most glorious sex you've ever had, and you've had some pretty glorious sex recently.

Kissing the universe. Or being kissed by the universe. Maybe that's where Kiki-hime gets it from. You have to stifle the giggles welling up and quickly stagger over to the half-bath in the hallway, your head spinning and your heart pounding. Half-collapsing against the sink, you push the door shut with your tail, laughing to yourself and wiping away tears you can barely comprehend the reason for.
>>
>>34599498

Shed your tears for her....wasn't that what she'd said you'd done? You shake your head and rub the tears away, sniffling a little even as you stifle another bark of half-laughter. Meditation sickness. That's what this feels like, like you've been fasting and meditating so much your mind and your soul can't be separate any longer. But then, you saw Her, as Rie-sama said, so it can't be that bad, right? Forcing yourself up along the wash basin, you blow your nose, and take several deep breaths, looking down at the sink.

When you look up your breath catches. Your eyes have changed again, though the change isn't as noticeable as the one previous. Deep blue sapphires gaze from the mirror, your newly slit pupils wide in the dim lighting. A faint shine along your cheeks, barely a tracery of kanji in the power of Shen: “saiai” upon your right cheek, and “seigyoku” on the left. “Beloved sapphire,” you whisper softly.

She said you wouldn't need the Imperial Treasure....apparently because you ARE an Imperial Treasure, at least as far as she is concerned.

Kiku, the shortest, is 5' 1" for ever and ever. Lesbian submissive.
Akari is 5' 3", and has another few inches to grow. Sexuality is weird, switch.
Yui is 5' 4" and will only grow due to circumstances beyond her control (though she will be able to change her size, being Void oni). Dyke, switch.
Kiki is 5' 6", and is at full growth. Bisexual bottom.
Ryukusa is tall at 5' 8", but this becomes 6' in her true form. She is fully grown. Lesbian top.
Er Yin is the tallest at 5' 10" and is fully grown. Lesbian dominant..
Jinyuu is 5' 7" but persistently hovers an extra three inches above the ground or floor because of her nature as a seer. Straight.
Hinata Hakase is 6' 3". Sexuality is terrifying.
Hidesato is 5' 5". Straight.
Kushinada is 5' 8". Straighter.
Taisho Ryoga is 5' 9". Who knows.
Hyun Chisato is 5' 4”, and is fully grown. Lolicon with plausible deniability.
Rie is 8” tall or 5' 5”, and is fully cat. Her sexuality is cat.

[X] Use your Water Eyes.
[XX] Go join Kiki-hime.
[] Wake your niji-chan, as you have questions for them.
[] Get properly dressed.
[XXX] Set the table and have breakfast ready for your family.

You close your newly transformed eyes, and open your Water Eyes, then open your eyes once more. The shining kanji burn like fire across your face, the Shen energies visible even through your magic-weak third eyes but that's isn't all you see. Where before you would have said you were maybe a little more powerful, or strangely augmented, you have all the hallmarks and potency of a One-Thousand-Year-Old dragonette. Your Chi is perfectly balanced, and your connections with your element – and perhaps even the elements – are truly deep and solid. The power of your Shen surrounds you like a nimbus, the kanji written upon your face by Amaterasu-Omikami keep it locked in place, ready for your use, as though you've chosen a sacred duty or a place of power, or been given a divine mandate.

Well, the last is definitely accurate, even if it's not official.

Your sincerity – not to be confused with honesty at all – is written across your spirit, and your love for them burns incandescent in every nuance of your expression and being. You can only hope that Amaterasu's gift is what gives you this intense insight, because if another spirit-child can see this, they're going to be either terrified or do something stupid.

You let your Water Eyes close, and take a slow, deep breath, feeling....better. More stable. More at peace. Washing your face, you slip out into the living room, then to the kitchen, and start setting up the table for your family. The work is quiet and strangely fulfilling. You wonder if this is why housewives often smile, this feeling of peace and the knowledge that their loved ones will be here soon, eating, smiling, happy, safe.

Once that is done, which takes less time than you felt it should – and it did, it's only been a few minutes, as fuckin' usual – you walk into your room, and slip out of the kimono and the silk pants, the sound of Kiki-hime singing softly in the shower sweet and lovely. It's a schoolgirl's chant, silly, sweet, and a sharp contrast to everythign she has been through. A song of a childhood she never had, yet can still enjoy. You slip inside the bathing room silently, as she is sitting on a stool and washing her thick hair.

[] Help her with her hair and sing the chorus.
[] Help silently, enjoy her song.
[] Rinse yourself and watch, quietly; then help her rinse.
[] Gently let her know you are here, and rinse off.
[] Just stand and watch a while.

[X] Help silently, enjoy her song.

You move up next to her, and slide your hands slowly into her hair. She stiffens, the song catching in her throat for just a few seconds, but then she relaxes as you comb your fingers through her thick, soapy hair. Kiki-hime recovers the tune easily, and smiles, her eyes still shut as she lowers her hands to her thighs. You smile and work your hands into the thick lather, scrubbing slowly and deeply. The childhood song ends, and she murmurs softly, “I didn't hear you come in, Ryu-chan.”

“You will only ever hear me if I want you to, Kiki-hime,” you murmur back, the feelings in your heart making your voice breathless and soft. She tilts her head and you run soapy fingers up along her horn, causing her to make a terrifically cute 'eek' noise rather than asking you if you are all right. The sigh of her thighs pressing together and her hands coming up to cover her breasts is adorable, and not entirely innocent. You slowly soap each horn, working the lather over the strange branches of her polished horns slowly. Her legs shift up and down a little, as you gently tease her, make her breath catch now and again. “Thank you for the song.”

With a blush she lowers her head, and you pick up the pan and slowly sluice it through her fuchsia hair. She'd definitely smiling though. “My nurse taught me that one. She used to sing it to me when I was a little girl.”

“She sounds like a kind woman,” you murmur, your hand following the departing suds, sliding through the water you pour along her shoulders and arms. She shivers delicately, and not because the water is cool, because it most certainly isn't.
>>
>>34600416
“She was. I miss her, a little. I think you're much better at washing my hair though,” your wife adds, her eyes opening as she glances at you sidelong, a wicked little smile. The smile you give her is not nearly as wicked, but full of warm, deep heat and love and she shivers just from that. Dropping your eyes, you refill the pan and pour another slow, steaming wash over her, to rinse her body clean. She arches in a lovely manner as your hand slips along her back, your fingers tracing the muscles along her spine, the softness of her body a wonder.

[] Lots and lots of practice.
[] That's because I'm more than a nurse to you, Kiki-hime.

[X] Oh, in what way?

“If you say such things, you'll make me blush,” you warn her. “How can I possibly be better than your nurse at such things?” You fill the pan once more and slowly move to the other side, as she watches you sidelong, her smile coy, and sweet.

“Possibly something about how you can touch me in all those hard to reach places that she could never manage to bring herself to touch me,” she replies softly, the scales along her cheek deepening in color as a warm blush flows to her cheeks. She gasps softly as your fingers lightly trace the edge of her breast, the water cascading along her body.

“You mean like your horns and tail, Kiki-hime?” you ask mildly, even as your hand slides along her tail, the scales shimmering under your touch. “Or these delicate scales here?” you add, your fingers tracing the scatter of scales along her hip. The shiver that passes through her frame is gratifying.

“....oh....those....yes, Ryu-chan, of course....” She was going to make it a joke, but you rather soundly turned the tables. “That's to say....um...” You lean close, your fingertips turning her head so that you can deliver a deep, warm kiss to her. Her eyes close and she makes a soft, surprised sound that carries a note of confusion.
>>
>>34600883
The breaking of that deep, long kiss is half regret and half anticipation for the next opportunity as you look into her eyes. Kiki-hime's eyes flutter open, and she touches her lips, that confusion writ large. A simple smile is your only reply, and when her eyes light upon yours, hers grow wide, shocked. “My sweet, beautiful Kiki-hime....” you murmur, hearing others stirring in the house. “I am afraid we haven't any more time, this morning.”

Your fingers slide along her arm, to take her hand gently, lifting it to your lips. You kiss the jade ring lightly, lovingly, and she blushes beautifully....just before her eyes widen comically, the sky blue jewels resting on the glistening white jade that adorns her finger, and the milky red of yours. “What happened to our rings, Ryu-chan?”

“Our union may not be recognized by Japan....but a higher authority decided that we were married. I don't know if it is the same for the others, though.” She shakes her head, not entirely sure what you mean.

[] “Red for the husband, white for the bride, Kiki-hime.”
[] “Only the Highest Priestess can annul our marriage, Kiki-hime.”
[] “The Kami decided that we are married no matter what anyone says.”
[] “Let's see what the other rings are like first....”
[] Shake your head with a smile, and promise you'll explain later.

[X] “Let's see what the other rings are like first....”
[X] Shake your head with a smile, and promise you'll explain later.

You smile, but shake your head once, your fingers tracing the ring upon her finger lightly. “I haven't seen the others' rings, so I wouldn't presume to say for sure yet.” But you are very sure that the others' have changed too, though you can't really predict in what ways. You kneel before her and run your hand along her breast, feeling her heartbeat, and she makes a small, pleased sound....then gasps in shock as your hand caresses her belly slowly, her blush deepening and her eyes looking into yours. “But believe me when I say I would much rather spend more time here, with you, this moment.”

She smiles and slips off the stool to embrace you close, holding you warmly and your heart surges with joy and not a little wonder. Her kiss is soft, brief, and she whispers to you as she rises, “I understand, my Ryu-chan.” She slips out, leaving you to wash, which you do, without magic or power. You force yourself to take your time, purifying your body and mind, recalling every nuance of your encounter with Amaterasu.

Cleansed, clean, and purified in body, you face your first real decision of the day....

[X] Kung Fu Beauty! Homage to Er Yin!

Despite the fact you are going to be training, the fact that you'll be going outside means you'll want something free flowing as well as stylish enough to serve as both. On the other hand, Yui hasn't ever seen you in truly casual clothing, despite the fact that she's the only one who avoids yukata and kimono alike in favor of her simple Western boy-clothing. Of course, pulling an Akari has a bit of appeal....

….but then you happen across the flowing silk pants with the silver embroidery and pearls along the ankles, and the qipao shirt with the silver beading along the sleeves and collar. The buttons in silver and enamel of longevity are perfect. You dress in something very pretty for whomever you decide to turn your attentions on this evening, and then in the silver and black of the Chinese kung-fu films the world over. You pin your hair with a set of white jade pins, one of your more valuable pieces of jewelry, the tiny pearls hanging from the large ends shimmering brightly. Silver and black slippers and you are ready....especially with a belt with a scorpion buckle of silver with sapphire eyes and a nice thick weave, and a silver end cap that is not entirely blunt.

You might have to let Er Yin-sensei feel you up so she can appreciate it later, though.

Silently slipping out, you see Yui and Akari quietly speaking at the table, their expressions serious and concerned; Akari is dressed in her usual outfit, of course, as is Yui. Kiki-hime is talking with Er Yin, the former dressed in her practice gi and looking ready to spill over, which is quite lovely. The latter is dressed in a casual black dress shirt and simple black bellbottom jeans, which is somewhat what you were planning to do for Yui. Kiku-chan is making tea with your sister, the mellow, powerful green tea from syrup that you recall with great joy. Kiku-chan is in a simple white gi, much as Kiki-hime's is black, but her belt is a simple and very dirty length of canvas cloth. Your sister is of course as elegantly dressed as ever.

Akari is the first to notice, and her eyes go wide, staring at you, whatever she was saying stopped mid sentence. Yui, confused, turns and gives a soft whistle. “Aniki, you look HOT!” That draws everyone else's' attention, and you smile, giving her a kung fu salute. Er Yin-sensei blinks, and the white hot points of fire erupt in her pupils. She takes a step back, her unseeing eyes wide and shocked, but you give her half a head-shake. A quick nod, and she recovers her wits and lets her Void Eyes fade.

“Aka-chan, you look amazing in that....” Jinyuu's eyes widen when you look at her from deep sapphire eyes with split pupils. “Oh....I....understand.” You smile and take your place at the table, as kiki-hime brings the other tea service and places on the nearby counter.

You notice the mixture of red-and white jade upon Kiku-chan's and Er Yin's rings, Er Yin's more red, and Kiku-chan's more white, their own marriage still part of yours. Yui's and Akari's rings are equally of white and yellow jade, rather than red; rarer than either, yet both are your brides and neither having any power over Kiki-hime. Precious and beloved despite that.

Breakfast is a pleasant, hazy dream made of warm voices, bright, glittering smiles, and soft laughter, and the occasional growl yelp, or soft swat of a tail or hand. Your world feels complete with these dragonettes and this oni, a constellation of powers and hopes and fears that circle you and give you the strength to do whatever you have to do to make sure they remain smiling and safe.

Here, eating, speaking with them, you can see the Sun in their looks, hear Her voice in theirs, the grace and beauty of Her movements in their gestures and smiles. Kiki-hime smiles and lays her hand in yours and you squeeze it softly, looking down and shaking your head. She isn't worried; she's happy for you, happy to be with you, in this moment. Your world is a good place to be, but sooner or later, you will have to fight for the right to keep it this way.

Well, sooner, given you have a duel with Kurao Goto tomorrow.

As breakfast winds down, the soft chorus of thanks for the food echoing through the house, you serve the tea Kiki-hime and Jinyuu-onee-sama made for this moment. It is not so much a tea ceremony as simply a way to bring everyone's attention together, to prepare for the things you must now do as a family. From the uninitiated, to the experts, you'll all be in this together. Your family, your responsibility, and your precious treasures.

“So far,” you begin, “We haven't actually been outed as being renegades.” There are a couple of dubious looks, mostly Miko-Kiku-chan and Yui-niji-chan, but Akari-niji-chan is perfectly satisfied, and Kiki-hime looks worried. “As strange as it sounds, it is true – all anyone knows is that I and my people have gone into total seclusion, which is not unusual for this sort of thing. Protecting my sister is just good sense, and no one knows that Miko-Kiku is with me that will mention it and thus no one knows about Er Yin-sensei.”

Er Yin suspects something up though, and frowns slightly, while the others seem to relax.

>>
[X] Fuck it. Let's go full retard.

You sip your tea, and lift your eyes, which makes Yui blink quizzically. She starts to say something and Akari does something under the table that makes her mouth snap shut and turns her pinks from light brick to a red nearly the color of your ring. Everyone else, while they wonder, seems unsurprised by your new eyes, which is not really surprising considering how much....how ~drastically~ the past week has changed you in so many ways.

“This morning, I met a nekomata.” The part about meeting Amaterasu-Omikami you merely say in your mind; you can't even hint at it except in very certain ways. “Every day that I am home, I will prepare takoyaki for Rie-sama, in return for her not telling Ryuu Wakaba or Ryuu Hauko my whereabouts. More importantly, it seems, she won't tell Ryuu Wakaba Akari-niji-chan's whereabouts.” You glance at Akari, who gives you a mild shrug.

“I don't know her, other than the fact she is a capable Stone dragonette warrior of Clan Ryo, aniki. I can't possibly imagine what she wants from me. Yumiko-san was not very forthcoming,” Akari reminds you. Your sister's secretary was afraid of Wakaba, and from what little you've heard, she's right to be.

“We're going to assume she wants to fight you, probably to remove you from my side. In fact, if I had to guess, I'd say she wants to replace Akari at my side to be Oba-san's watchdog, probably out of jealousy over the perceived 'prestige' of the position.” Kiki-hime is looking over at Akari worriedly, and Kiku-chan makes a soft 'tch' noise, her displeasure written in her pale face and golden eyes. “Even if Oba-san is just trying to locate me for the sake of keeping ordinary tabs on me and to let Kumatori-sama know that his daughter is all right, I'm assuming Oba-san knows and that she hasn't told anyone yet.”
>>
>>34602116
Kiku-chan's jaw drops, and Akari blinks, startled. “Bakayaro-dragon, you really intend to start that war!” exclaims your preistess. Kiki-hime looks at you, her eyes wide and frightened, and Yui chokes on her eighth bowl of miso soup, struggling not to sputter it everywhere.

“When on death ground, fight,” murmurs Er Yin-sensei.

“Yes. There are just too many ways I've changed, and too many ways to tell that things have gone too far. Kiki-hime carries our daughter; I am Horobi in all but fact; Er Yin-sensei is free and Miko Kiku is at my side.” Shaking your head, you gesture helplessly. “At this point, anyone looking at me will see that I'm insanely powerful for as young as I am. I'm still a dragonette, but I have the strength and power of hundreds of years.”

“Akari-chan is protected by a god,” Yui pipes up. Akari blushes and looks down, her hands on her thighs.

You know, we should REALLY think a little more before starting a war. Because Ryouga might see this as a 'good enough' catalyst for his own international war, and the kami have pretty much agreed that Japan needs either a war or a natural disaster.

[X] A-buh-wha? Akariiiii!

The silence at the table is palpable, as you process this incredible piece of information. You blink a few times, looking at an increasingly embarrassed Akari. Finally you shrug. “Okay.”

There is dead silence.

“REALLY?” Kiku-chan can't help the exasperated shout, and you grin, shaking your head at Akari's reticence. Kiki-hime is suddenly overcome by giggles and Jinyuu-onee-sama laughs behind her sleeve.

“Well, I tried. So....a Kami, niji-chan? I'd like to know more....that's a little much, even for you, Akario-niji-chan.”

“Nikne Kamuy is the kamuy of oni, of all oni, forever. He was my protector and friend, and has been with me for a long time.” Akari twists the jade ring on her finger, and then blinks. “My ring.”

“All our rings,” Kiki-hime says softly. “Ryukusa-chan gave me the pieces of the mask, and Er Yin-sensei made them magic. Ryu-chan says that our marriages are blessed by the Kami.” THE Kami, really, but you can't tell them that, as much as you might enjoy the looks on their faces. “We are all bound by Akari-chan's loss, and her gift. They changed color because the Kami blessed our marriages.”
>>
Akari looks at you and smiles, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. “Thank you, aniki. He was....is a good friend.”

“He protected my niji-chan, and seems that according to Yui-chan still protects you.”

“Yes. Nikne Kamuy's power still surrounds me, still gives me strength and protection. It still wasn't enough against Goto-sama's magic.” She looks embarrassed.

“We'll talk about him later. Still, that is as I said: we're just too powerful, too obvious. Sooner or later Oba-san will realize what happened and then we'll have to deal with it. But I am planning on making the first move – by practicing outside, where Ryuu Wakaba or Ryuu Hauko will find us.” The looks shared across the table are both worried and excited, but mostly just worried. “I want to find out if there are any small clans or groups or families of spirit-children we can recruit and combine with Hyun Chisato's people, so that we can put together a group that will at least provide us with resources and counterintelligence.”

Kiku-chan shakes her head. “I've been in religious retreat too long, aniki. I am sorry, but I can't help this.” You smile and shake your head, and she looks relieved that you don't blame her.

“Me too, but that was in Kuroukami's heaven, aniki.” Yui sounds more ashamed than embarrassed and Kiki-hime leans over and hugs her, while Akari lays a hand on Yui's thigh, rubbing gently.

“I don't expect miracles, you know. None of us are really prepared for this, but if you notice or hear of anything, remember it and let me know.” You smile gently. “We'll still have Chisato's people, which is not a bad start.”

“If you wish, I can cause some to seek us.”

Everyone looks at Er Yin-sense, who doesn't look back. “It is a summoning, but not a compulsion, or a curse. It is simply an offering, and those whom might be interested will seek us out.” She lifts her hands at the silence that surrounds her. “My powers, all of them, belong to Ryuu Ryukusa to use as she sees fit. I will do anything and everything to make our family safe and whole.” Kiku-chan smiles, looking up at her lover with bright, shimmering eyes.

“Please do so then – but after training. Perhaps tomorrow.” You take a deep breath. “Depending on how Hauko or Wakaba react when they find us, we will either convince them we are still loyal, or deal with them firmly and effectively. We might have to kill some of them.” You look around the table, and Kiki-hime and Jinyuu-onee-sama have both paled. “Now I must ask....does anyone not wish to practice outside?”

No one looks at you; at each other, at the table, at the ceiling, yes. All thinking, considering.

It isn't long before their eyes meet each others, and you can almost see the exact moment their decision is made. Jinyuu-onee-sama is watching with something like wonder as Akari stands up. “Ryukusa, you should not ask such questions because you know there is only one answer.” She indicates your family, save Jinyuu. “How could we let our Daimyo stand alone in this worst danger?”

[X] I still have to ask, Akari.
[X] It isn't fair for you all to share this danger without agreeing.
[X] I am supposed to protect you, and this is the furthest thing from protecting you.

You you bow your head to Akari-niji-chan and murmur softly, “I must ask, because this is danger I am placing you in, not that has come from outside. It would be unfair for you to follow me without choosing to do so. It would be wrong.” Jinyuu-onee-sama is looking at you strangely, and Er Yin-sensei is hiding her smile from Jinyuu behind a cup of tea. “This is doing the exact opposite of what I promised you, and I need your permission to even try it, each of you.”

“Akari-chan is right, Ryu-chan. This is our fight too. You need us.” Kiki-hime is still pale, but she looks very determined, and you've seen her bully much older dragonnes and oni when she had her horns up.

“Especially Yui-san, nee-san and myself,” says Miko-Kiku-chan, much to the surprise of everyone except you and Akari. “Clan Ryo is almost entirely Void, Water, and Stone dragonettes and dragonnes, and Wood and Fire oni. Akari and aniki and Er Yin are the same as they are, and Akari and aniki have trained with them. Kiki, Yui and I are stronger against them, for the most part, and even only partly trained and Kiki and Yui are, they're still strong against Stone and Void, the two most dangerous ones against Ryukusa-sama.” You know that she means Yui's power over Void is distinct and different than a dragonette's power over Void, and it's something they won't be prepared for.
>>
>>34603279
With a sigh you nod. “So, first we'll train here, in the gymnasium. We can work out some basic teamwork and tactics, and get weapon work down for those who need it. We'll make lunch and then go somewhere outside – a park, or a wooded area. Somewhere we can train our powers outside and work with Er Yin-sensei and Kiki-hime's specific issues.” Kiki-hime looks confused. “Er Yin is a warrior, but she's still blind. It's a disadvantage. You aren't used to fighting to begin with, and using your powers outside is very different than using them inside a building.”

While a few more minutes is spent in discussion of logistics, by and large you have something kind of like a plan – for once – and while you might not start a full on war against Clan Ryo, you don't need Akari looking over her shoulder for a psychopath with an obsession. As dishes are gathered and put in the sink, and your sister retreats to pray, you find yourself with a moment or two.

While Er Yin starts to assist with the cleaning, specifically drying the plates that Kiki-hime and Akari-chan wash, you walk over to them. “Sorry, I need to borrow this for a bit.” You take Er Yin by the hand and gently lead her away as Kiki-hime and Akari look at each other.

“'This'?” asks Kiki-hime quietly.

“Kiku-san's domme,” Akari explains mildly, which sets off a deep blush on the part of your wife, despite....scratch that, no, entirely because of what she knows about her own sister.

Er Yin is laughing softly, as you lead her back to the living room. Kiku-chan is clearing the table for the others. Yui, on the other hand, has retreated to her and Akari's room, and you can hear her playing her drums, softly but emphatically. “Ryukusa-sama enjoys her jokes, I would say.”

“Maybe a little,” you admit. “I have questions, mostly about this summoning you spoke of.” you lead her to the couch and she sits, her tail sliding over the couch and carefully checking her position. “I don't know how much you know about this place, but I have the feeling your spell wouldn't reach past the wall or the wards.”

She nods. “It is an alien sort of magic. But there are even ways around that which I may use.”
>>
>>34603907
“You said it would not compel, only inform them and let them seek us. Isn't that dangerous given your situation?” You know she wouldn't have mentioned it if it would have put Kiku or Kiki in danger at all.

“I may be very specific about the kinds of spirit-children it will contact. It would be easier otherwise, and what comes may not be entirely what you desire....but it will call upon them and they will seek you or I out, in a way. It will seem coincidental, or accidental, but it will be obvious to you, with your shining mask.”

….

>>

Ryukusa will not be able to accidentally reveal anything of that sort - the universe literally won't allow it to happen. You don't need to worry about it 'slipping' by accident.
>>

Ah. Well that's... convenient, if a little disconcerting. We literrally couldn't do it on purpose either, could we? And if Er Yin or someone else figures out something of it, that was the universes will?

[X] What can you tell me about the....mask?
[X] Tell me that not everyone will see it so easily....

“Please tell me not everyone will see it so easily, Er Yin-sensei....” Your fear that someone will make a dangerous connection isn't merely paranoia – Water dragonettes are GOOD at it.

“They will see some magical layering, a ward or symbol or spell over your lower face. They will not read it as I read it unless they are Devils, Great Kami, or one of the few youkai or kami who can see such things. But then, I know Inari very well, Ryukusa-sama.” Her voice is soft, and gentle, soothing. “No one but you and I know who placed it there, and only your family will be able to see it so easily as this. It will take the ability to see Shen to see it, though that may change when you come into your own.”

You're only somewhat relieved, currently, but it's better than anyone in Clan Ryo finding out. Then again, you were told any dragonette could call upon Amaterasu. So maybe only older ones would see it for what it is. “What does it mean....I mean, ugh. Hmn. Oh, all right. What does it signify, exactly?”

She hesitates, and then gestures faintly, and you feel something like a barrier snap into place, but it isn't truly a barrier. More like a sort of softening of the world about you, a very little like what Amaterasu did. “Each one hundred years, a dragon-child gain greater spiritual understanding of their body, making it more in tune with their element and the world. After six hundred years, a dragon-child gains an understanding of their place in the world and is given a small duty in the Heavenly Order. After seven hundred, they are offered a choice to serve or to continue as they are. If they refuse, they are returned to the world, and left to their own devices. If they agree, they are given a position in the Celestial Courts.”

You suddenly realize where this is going. Well, you suspected before.
>>
>>34604526
“At eight hundred, a dragonette is granted the opportunity to take the tests to become a Kami or a Devil. If they chose not to, they are allowed to continue, and at nine-hundred they may take the test to become a Dragon.” She hesitates, and you lay your hand on hers, and she squeezes softly. “At one thousand years, if they have served faithfully and well, they are granted audience with the Heavenly Emperor, may he live Ten Thousand times Ten Thousand Years.” You choke a little.

“You mean if they just serve the Divine Mandate for one thousand years, not questioning or seeking power, they get to see Amaterasu-Omikami?” She nods slowly. “And what if that happens?”

“She gives them her blessing to do as they wish, with his – her Divine Blessing, which may not be taken or removed except by her. Like your Susano-Oh has.”

Your whisper is soft, and a little shaky.

“The power of a God.”

Her hand comes up reaching for you. “It is her gift to you, when you grow up. Her forgiveness for what must happen when you take that which is yours.”

[X] You need a hug now....
[X] Let her touch your cheek.

You lean forward, your head spinning as the significance of Amaterasu's touch, the tears you shed for her, your understanding of her suffering and her pain crashes down upon your heart like Akari's chains of stone. Er Yin's fingers trace the kanji upon your left cheek gently as you breathe deep and slow.

When you said you would take even that pain from her if you could, she apparently took you entirely at your word.

“I do not know this word,” she comments softly, her fingers lingering as she feels the wetness on your cheek.
“....it's....it's the actual word for what Westerners call....a sapphire.”

You close your eyes and Er Yin takes you into her arms, holding you gently as you struggle with the foreknowledge that was already a burden. “I said to her....”

Her voice is soft. “Shhhh. It is what she wishes of you. And I will bear that knowledge for you, so that the others do not have to.” She holds you tight, and you grip her tightly, the softness of your little world with her soothing, safe, private for this one moment. “I will help you to do whatever we can to protect your people, Ryukusa-sama. I will speak to Kamuy, to your Gods, to Enma-Oh, to Amaterasu-Omikami, whomever I must, to help you save them from this.”

Her hand strokes your hair and you slowly let go of the horror, the black cloud of foresight that your sister spoke of. Foresaw.

[] You needn't place yourself in such danger.

[X] All right, but only if I am with you.

“No. Not unless I am with you. You do not get to risk Kiku-chan's happiness again. She needs you now, safe and whole.” Your firm voice seems to startle her a bit, but you pulls her close, feeling her hard, lean body and soft bosom against yours. “We need you Er Yin. No taking risks without permission. Japan will live through this, even if I can't minimize the damage.” She nods, and you feel the touch of wetness align your cheek from hers.

You shake your head and dry your tears with a thought, and she smiles at your hand, her fingers tracing the larger ring that you bear. “My Hougyoku-chan said that this is now mostly red, with some white on me. That yours is entirely red. That means that I am your wife, still, even as I am her husband, does it not?”

You automatically nod, but you speak with equal automation now. “Yes. I mean, I think so. Her has just a touch of red, making her entirely mine, but still above her sister in status marriage wise. It is as confusing as everything else I touch.”

“It means that our union is blessed by the one who said you were her beloved, as well. I would believe....you asked her for this.” Her hands come up and you take her hands in yours. They lift higher until she cups your cheeks, and then she 'looks' directly into your eyes. “I would suspect that you asked her to bless us all. Not yourself. Not even you and everyone. You asked her for us all, with none to guide you or remind you. To bless your family, your marriage.”

A slight nod, which makes her smile. “You could have asked her for anything. Instead you asked her to marry Kiku to me, you to your Kiki, bless the union of Akari and Yui, to bind us together as a whole, a loving, understanding, and hopeful family, even as we face ten thousand enemies and stand upon death ground....you asked for something to make us happy.” You shake your head but she stills your head. “Yes.”

It looks as though everyone is ready – Yui is dressed in an actual boy's kimono in black and yellow which is pretty flattering on her, and silk shorts. Her arms and legs and chest are still wrapped in the same dirty, tattered bandages, but what can you do?

Everyone else is dressed the same, but patiently talking by the door. You and Er Yin join them. “Sorry, just clearing some things up.” You open the door and jump three feet to the side as Kiku-chan screams like....well, she screams, because all the metaphors really don't work for your kind. Kiki-hime is hugging her tight and Kiku has her face buried in her sister's breasts. Er Yin is stock still, her tail up and her talons spread wide. Yui has her taiko sticks out and sparks are jumping between them, while Akari is blinking calmly.

“Bad time?” asks Rie as she looks in the doorway at you.

From Ryukusa's point of view, she's already been makign plans to mitigate the disaster. She's got ideas, and plan and hopes. The goddess even told her it's possible she might manage to do so.

But even before Ryukusa tries to mitigate the damage, Amaterasu grants her a spiritual indulgence and full pardon before the fact. Just in case. Because Amaterasu is afraid Ryukusa might not be able to protect as many people as she wants to aside from her family.

Forgiveness before the fact, just in case. It's both a challenge and a condemnation. "you can try, but I don't think you can do it," said The Universe.

That's a pretty big cloud to step under.
>>
>>34605632
Another excellent thread, thank you!
>>
>>34605794
Oh. Oh shit.

...Might we have control over the nature of the calamity? I can think of a few mega disasters that cause problems for certain, but have lower death tolls.
>>
>>34605794
Well that doesn't sound promising. But I'm sure we can do it!
>>
>>34605794
How highly ranked is Hyun Chisato in whatever Yazuka organization she is a part of, and how powerful is that organization?
I had thought she was midranked, but Ryukusa's assurance of not only Hyun's help, but that of her men indicates to me that she's near the top of her organization. Or she thinks arranging a coup to put Hyun on top will be trivial.

Back to not breathing. Another month, and they try me on new drug number 5.

>>34601273
Not even Ryukusa could manage that trick. Even if she can. I couldn't write it!

>>34602263
Kiku-chan was overstating the matter a little. It would be Ryukusa vrs. Clan Ryo; no one else would get to know about it, if Oba-san had her say (or Ryukusa for that matter, family business and all).

>>34604167
Correct. Ryukusa's lips have been sealed by Amaterasu, but if someone figures it out, that's fine. The QM will not have Ryukusa spill the beans and offend Amaterasu. and yes, Ryukusa finds it a little weird also.

Er Yin was speaking of the Japanese people in this instance - she's Chinese.

Having the Daughter of the God of the Sea and Storms actively helping with mitigation would probably help a lot.

Chi-chan is actually upper middle - only the fact that she's a woman has stalled her. She still runs one of the most profitable Yakuza territories, but that's not enough in Japan.

Now, with help for Ryukusa....

That's seriously depressing. Also, quite concerning, please tell me you're joking.
>>
>>34605836
Actually I think I'll just bring this up outright: What if we cause a super solar flare? No direct deaths, but earths technology goes back a century or two. Of course, people will still die as a result, but its all indirect.

Mostly joking. Chronic pain gives one a very twisted sense of humor through necessity. They're testing drugs to minimize the discomfort of breathing, again.

The previous test literally drove me insane.

Sorry, Ryukusa is stuck using planetary phenomena based on the five elements. Amaterasu won't use solar flares, because of the side effects on the Kami.
>>
>>34606307
Is that Shiki or Natalia?

What kind of void phenomena there are?
>>

I appreciate the support. I won't vanish without a trace - this is an old, old, old problem. It's just gotten to the point where it requires an upgrade in management. It does that every few years.
>>
>>34606307
Wouldn't using solar flares cause a Spiritual war anyway? The Trinity would probably violently object to something of that nature, given its impact on their followers. Hell, I'm not even sure she could pull it off.
>>
>>34606345
For disaster scale problems, mostly wind and lightning - hurricanes, tornadoes, electrical storms. Fire tends towards volcanic eruptions as well as wildfires. Wood is actually the worst - diseases and rot. Horobi prefers quakes and tsunami, as a general rule.
>>
>>34606345
I don't know who it is. It's a cat, and some anime artist's interpretation of said cat.

I need a good Rie picture....
>>
>>34606368
I want to write something here that might hopefully make you feel better but I don't know anything that I could write that would have that effect, I think.
So instead I'll just hope that you'll get better, because that's all I can do, at least for now.
>>
>>34606307
Dang. That precludes asteroids hitting sparsely populated areas too.

I suppose super hurricanes are somewhat favorable, some people will die from drowning and physical destruction but most of the damage is structural. The kind of thing the earths population can spring back from, new and improved.

A megavolcano somewhere not too populated is also an option, it'll flatten a large expanse of area and melt a portion of that, but most of its effects would be on the world climate. Gets real cold, real dark, and food shortages would be rampant. An ocean based eruption would have less of those issues, but the tsunamis would be immense.
>>
>>34606467
Oh. Huh. It kind of looked like the main character from Kara no Kyoukai somehow.
Or a character that I think might have looked something like that from Fate/Zero.

>>34606487
>>34606422
Thundersnow?
>>
>>34606392
That leads to an interesting question: What happens if Amaterasu wants to do something with the sun, and Sura says no?
>>
>>34606422
Maybe if we spread it out among multiple elements at once, the overall effect would be lessened? Like causing infection and rot, then burning it down and then washing it out to sea.
>>
>>34606422
Could we simply have Lightning strike all the communications of Japan?
>>
>>34606569
I doubt we could aim it. But lots of lightning is something that can cause destruction over the world but not kill so many people, mostly due to lightning rods.
>>
>>34606569
Like that'd be enough
>>
>>34606597
The modern world is based on exchange of informations, anon. Imagine what would happen to New York if none of its inhabitants could use any electronic device to communicate.

Then again, we must be careful with those power plants
>>
>>34606525
>>34606487
That's the other problem - Ryukusa is strictly limited to Japan. Megavolcanoes or other "affect the world climate" is out of the question - and also, she does have to work with the real world geology (no surprise volcanoes out in nowhere).

Amaterasu does have to share, so no solar flares (that whole annoying the kami bit applies to other kami, outside of Japan).

Now mind, you, there's still others to speak with. Kuroukami and Ryujin, for instance, or perhaps the omikami of Fuji, or the like.
>>
>>34606542
>>34606569
Depends - do you think that would remind the Japanese that they're neglecting their duty to their gods and to one another?

Good night everyone. I'll post a twitter tonight as to a time frame for next thread.

Have Nekomata Booty.

I'm in favor of creating an island to add to the Japanese Island chain. Then avoiding catastrophe by using Moses's staff to avert the resulting Tidal wave. Note: Need to steal Moses's staff from the Christians.
>>
>>34606783
Lookit dat booty!
>>
>>34606756
I'd say yes. When the modern way fail, people try the old ways. And not being able to communicate on a large scale for a while would force people to work together to fix the problems.

And if we have people in charge of the criminal underworld, that would lessen the possibilities of damages done by people wanting to take advantage of the confusion.
>>
>>34606756
Well if EVERYTHING goes wrong at once and not for a single, logical reason like a single superstorm or tsunami it'll have more of that "rage of the gods" thing going on.

On the other hand, a massive explosion pure lightning storms tormenting japan for a month sure as shit isn't going to be explained away. But again, lightning rods would mitigate much of the actual damage. Might cause EMPs though if its powerful enough.

I just got here and thought you passed away several years back. Nice to see you are still with us and writing about dragon girls holding hands with each other. Have an Oni girl as well.

We called one of our oni half-brothers that tauntingly before we beat his ass, but I don't think we've done it to Yui on account of her not having a penis or being related to us.
>>
>>34609229
but tomboy and teasing
>>
>>34609251
We've done plenty of teasing, don't worry.
