Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you had a discussion with the Varistha, bought some potions, and drugged your companion.

You adopt the tone and demeanor you'd typically use when trying to explain magic to a non-Vatis. Calm, professional, and just the slightest bit disinterested. “I would never take advantage of a friend, frankly I find the idea insulting.” She seems cowed, although slightly too out of it to really understand what you're saying. “Now then, strip down so we can begin.” Her fingers fumble with the communication brooch that fastens her outer robes, monk's robes just like yours, but eventually manages to undo the pin and slip out of the garment. The robes are actually rather voluminous, and hers practically cover the bed. They'll serve well as a sheet to prevent any blood seeping into the mattress.

Her underrobes prove a more difficult task, seeing as they're fastened by a series of buttons. You end up helping her for the sake of expediency, though she fidgets the whole while. She really doesn't seem comfortable with you, or indeed anyone, touching her. Once her upper body is barred to the world you're faced with the task of getting her out of her pants. Fortunately, she manages this on her own and haphazardly kicks the garment off of the bed.

Were it not for the scaring, Darzi would be a truly beautiful woman. Her body is well-toned but not overly sculpted, her breast a generous handful and her hips wide. However, much of her flesh is warped and discolored. Her shoulders and breast in particular seem to be covered in warped scar tissue. The rest of her is largely dotted with big, blotchy knots of twisted skin. Rolling her briefly onto her side to get a look at her back, you see it's even worse off than the rest of her. It's practically one lone sheet of scar tissue. The only part of her they seemed to spare was her face, a small mercy. The hell did those bandits do to her? Was all this just because she tossed a key down a mineshaft?

(1/2)
>>
You're careful to keep your face neutral and unemotional while assessing the damage to her body, for fear of further wounding her self-confidence or weakening her self-image. The last thing you want to do is make this any more difficult than it needs to be. Darzi herself has grown as timid as a leaf. You note that she has closed her eyes tightly and her entire body seems tensed, as if she were ready to run at a moment's notice.

You reach into your cloak and withdraw the short, thin blade of your scalpel, using just a touch of fire magic to heat the blade as Fulvia had once directed you. However, before you begin Darzi's voice breaks the growing silence. “How bad is it?” Your eyes are drawn to a particularly hideous knot of twisted flesh on her abdomen. If you were being honest, you'd have to say that she looks absolutely terrible, if only for a short while longer. Somehow you doubt that's the answer she's hoping for.

>2/10 would not bang.
>Just tell her that she's beautiful, that's probably what she wants to hear
>It's bad, but it won't be for much longer. If all goes according to plan, that is.

We're a primarily Water Vatis. Healing is one of it's main uses, and as magic medic it's not too far fetched that we're bound to fix up some really messed up bodies sooner or later.

"To be perfectly honest? It's bad, yes - but not the worst I've seen, or will see and that's exactly what I'm here for."

SO I want to ask, We get some bonus for being a master.
We've some experience in this as we recently recreated a leg basically.
We received advice on how best to heal her.
And Gave darzi a heads up, to picture her body the way she wants it.
At the water temple, plenty of water/ vys to go around with all the magical shit.
How big of a bonus will we get? :o

You adopt a lighter, perhaps teasing tone. “It looks like you fought a dragon and lost.” Silence. She does open her eyes though, if only to look at you confused. “How can you make lame jokes while I'm stretched out before you in all my horrible glory?” She doesn't really sound hurt, more irritated than anything else. “Relax, Darzi. Believe me, I've seen worse in my time as a Vatis. A few burn scars don't hold a candle to disemboweled guardsmen, disease infested prostitutes, or even a particularly bad beating.”

She frowns. “Do you really mean that?” You nod brusquely. “Absolutely. Besides, you'll only look as you do for a short while longer. Assuming all goes according to plan the only unpleasant reminder you'll retain are a few scars on your forearms, those by your own request.” She rest her head back on the mattress, closing her eyes firmly shut once more. However, she seems far less tense than she was before. Hopefully what your words have lifted her spirits, if only slightly. When next she speaks it's to simply say. “You may begin whenever you're ready.”

You put blade to flesh, beginning to carve out the thick knots of scar tissue that dot her abdomen before moving on to the more serious damage. The pain killers must be working, because though Darzi flinches and squirms she does not cry out. What would surely be horrible, tortuous pain under any other circumstances seems reduced to mild discomfort at worst. You do your best to stem any bleeding and further alleviate pain using just a touch of water magic, at your level such simple task are almost unconscious.

(1/2)
>>
You move from the scars on her abdomen to the ones on her legs and thighs, making quick work of the scaring there. Then you move on to the more serious task of her breast, shoulders, and back. In order to properly heal her, you're going to need to more or less remove the skin entirely. It's a gruesome, unpleasant task but it must be done for your friend's own good. You're actually learning quite a lot about the inner workings of the body, especially regarding muscle and flesh.

With the butcher's task completed, you assume a meditative pose next to the bed and slip easily into a trance. You begin by simple filling your vys reserves, careful to maintain the spells you're using to stem bleeding and dull pain. Once finished, you begin the lengthy process of healing her.

yes.

It would take 12 vys to make the roll a success, but you're only able to spend a maximum of 8 on a roll. (Incidentally, I forgot to adjust this the last time you gained vys. 25% of 30 is 7.5, so you should've gained a point.)

>>
>>34612490
Her scars should be less disgusting at least right?

You decide to focus your efforts first on the smaller wounds and then move on to the larger Smooth, blemish-free skin begins to stretch across the carved out holes on her abdomen and legs. At first, things seem to be going well. The flesh knits itself together flawlessly and leaves no sign that there was once a scar there. However, it becomes more and more difficult to heal her wounds correctly as time stretches on. With your inner eye focused on Darzi you're able to see her vys fluctuate and warp, compresing itself into a tight ball as you continue to work.

Things start to go wrong. Flesh heals itself together twisted together, or instead of a smooth patch of skin there is only a recessed pit where the scar once was. As you move on to the scars on her back, shoulders, and chest you find yourself simply sealing off the wounds you created rather than regrowing flesh as you're attempting. The scars come back, although arguably better than they were before. Instead of the skin being knotted and stretched it instead appears puffy and unnaturally smooth. It's a different kind of scar tissue, but scar tissue none the less.

Frustrated, you rush through the rest of your task. You're able to quickly seal off the rest of the wounds you've created now that you're not trying to heal her without leaving scar tissue. Once all her wounds are healed, you force yourself to wake from your meditative trance. Standing, you inspect your work. The smaller scars that covered her abdomen and thighs are largely gone, or at the very least drastically reduced in size and severity. However, pits in her skin have developed in a few places, arguably just as unsightly as the scars they're replacing. Her chest, back, and shoulders are only barely any better than they were before, burn scars being traded instead for the pale, swollen tissue one will typically find on cuts and puncture wounds.

You're frustrated, angry, and mentally drained after the endeavor. Not only did you fail to heal your friend, you failed to truly gain anything from the experience. Are you really satisfied with this? Are you willing to just give up? You're distracted from your thoughts and the remains of her damaged flesh by Darzi's voice, she sounds remarkably timid. “Can I... open my eyes? Is it over?”

No, it wasn't supposed to turn out this way. You were supposed to open your eyes and see a beautiful woman naked and more or less unblemished on the bed before you. This is an entirely less pleasant sight. You're simply going to have to try again. “I'll have to reopen your wounds, I'm afraid. Try to relax, I noticed your vys compressed itself while I was working. It made my job much, much harder than it needed to be.” She seems to physically shrink at the criticism, light though it was. “I'm sorry. It's just that the pain was getting to me, so I tried to numb myself and ended up botching it entirely. I'm really sorry.”

You wave her off, reaching into your cloak and withdrawing the painkiller you bought from the apothecary. You hold the vial to Darzi's lips and let her take a sip. “There's no need to apologize, I'll just need to try again. There are tools at my disposal I think ought to help.” She nods, and you take a moment to remove your Hiacian Armor from your cloak. You've got the inkling of an idea that it ought to help you meditate, judging solely by the fact that it seems to flood you with power and strength.

You whip off your cloak and quickly armor yourself. A thought occurs to you while you're fastening the greaves. Do you really need to armor yourself fully, or can you just wear the helmet? To test this out you try putting on the helmet before donning the rest of your armor and, much to your displeasure, find that it won't even fit properly, let alone function. With a weary sigh your go through the motions of putting on the rest of your armor. Before you once more try putting on the helmet, you pull on your cloak and reach inside to retrieve a small pouch containing the five doses of that herbal mixture you bought from the apothecary. You take a small pinch and place it on your tongue, swallowing it quickly. It taste like rot, mold, and dung all rolled into one unpleasant package, but hopefully it will prove worth it.
(1/3)
>>
You sit the helmet on your head and it clamps itself shut around you, that spike driving into the back of your neck and into your spine. You wince, but it doesn't hurt as much as it did at first. In fact, you're almost coming to enjoy the pain. If only because you're beginning to associate it with the flood of power that immediately surges into your limbs. Your vision sharpens and your hands steady, when you next take up the scalpel and begin carving into Darzi's scars you manage to open her wounds much faster, and much cleaner, than you did on your first attempt.

By the time you're finished, you're starting to feel a little out of it. The barriers between the real and the imagined are breaking down, the world seeming to swirl together. The ebbs and flows of vys within the room and indeed, within yourself and Darzi, slowly fade into view. When you try to sit down and assume a meditative pose, you find yourself collapsing onto your back. It doesn't matter though, you fall into a trance regardless.

Darzi's vys is still compressed, presumably from that botched spell of hers. However, you channel magic throughout her body, attempting to create a soothing, pleasant sensation. You seem to be successful, as her reserve unravels itself and once more diffuses throughout her body. That issue taken care of, you being trying to regenerate her wounds. Compared to previously, this is child's play. The flesh knits itself back together rapidly, only unblemished skin remaining in its wake. You notice that you're not healing her in a regular, predictable pattern though. Rather, tendrils of smooth, ash grey skin seem to snake out from the edges of the wounds and swirl together, forming elaborate designs before eventually sealing themselves together.

(2/3)
>>
You seem to finish in record time, but when you attempt to wake yourself from your meditative trance you find yourself unable. Rather, you're sinking deeper and deeper into your own consciousness. The ebb and flow of vys in your surroundings fades away, visions of your past replacing it. You see visions of yourself at play in the small garden on your family's estate, you and your brother stealing a entire pan of baklava from a baker, your former betrothed, Vasuda El-Amin, laying in the rocky pebbles that blanked her father's gardens clutching her injured shoulder. Finally, blackness embraces you like an old friend, the world fading away.

When you next awake, it's to find yourself laying on an uncomfortable mattress, your armor still on. You seem to be alone. Presumably somebody carried you back to your room after you passed out. You've got a pounding headache, your entire body feels dreadfully sore, and your stomach seems to be twisting itself into knots, but you don't feel overly terrible... oddly, the spike in the back of your neck is beginning to itch dreadfully. How long have you been unconscious?

>>
You climb off of the mattress, stumbling slightly as you get to your feet. You steady yourself against the wall and take a few deep breaths, just trying to alleviate some of the vertigo you're feeling. Once it's mostly abated you reach up to your helmet and carefully unseal it, the front hinging open with relative ease once you've unclasped the bindings on either side. Oddly enough when the spike in your neck doesn't retract like usual, and when you try to pull off the helmet it resist. You give it a firmer tug, and the spike comes free.
>Vys Pool: (10/[10])
>Reminder: Temporary max vys is indicated by brackets. More information about temporary vys can be found in the Magic pastebin.

Spots fill your vision and your head swims. The world spins rapidly and you find yourself laying on the ground, face pressed against the rough stone. You try to move your limbs, but you lack the strength. You try to call for help, but the only noise you can produce is a dry rasping sound. Black encroaches at the edges of your vision, slowly shrinking the world into a pinprick of light, and then enveloping you entirely. You're not sure how long you remain like that, slumped over and unconscious, but it seems an eternity.

You come to lying in a pool of your own blood-flecked vomit, your head feels like it's being struck by a hammer with each and every laborious thud of your heart in your chest. Your breathe is a rapid, uncomfortable wheeze and your throat feels like its on fire. You're not sure if you just want to lay there in your own filth or haul yourself up and find something to fill your achingly empty stomach. It's with some small amount of irritation that you realize the Hiacian Armor was the only thing keeping you going, and even it was only barely managing the task.
(1/2)
>>
>>34614532
We should only use it for Rhynian ruins.
>>
You fade in and out of consciousness several times as you lay on the floor, but eventually you force your arms beneath you and roll yourself onto your back. Each movement sets your limbs on fire, every fiber of your being screaming out in pain. You push on regardless, hauling yourself up by the edge of your bed and forcing yourself to sit up on the edge. You fumble with the broach fastening your cloak around your shoulders, eventually managing to unhook it and allowing the garment to fall to your mattress. You go through the motions of removing the rest of your armor, letting it fall to the floor When you're finally down to just your underrobes you pull your cloak on once more, not bothering to try putting on your monk robes.

Do you feel this terrible because of the armor, the herbal mixture, or a combination of the two? A question to contemplate later, you think. Right now your greatest concern is whether or not you can walk. You pusher yourself to your feet, and the world is filled with spots once more. When next you're aware of yourself you're once more laying face down on the floor, you think your nose might be bleeding, but you're not really fully aware of yourself at the moment. You almost feel like a stranger in your own body.
(2/3, I lied.)

You struggle to your feet, leaning heavily against the wall. With great difficulty you manage to jerk the door open and stumble out in the hallway, but you pitch forward and slam your shoulder into the door across the hall from you. Laying there, slumped over, you decide to simply give up. It's too hard. You can't do it. Just as you're about to fade into unconsciousness once more the door swings open and you fall backwards without its support, cracking your head against the stone. Profectus' face seems to swirl and warp above you. “Gods above, Mik. The hell happened to you?”

Because the cloak is not made by the rythains, but the void and any one that old should have been in contact with the void.
>>
You open your mouth, trying to speak. All that comes out is a unintelligible rasp. You try again, more forcefully, but you still can't quite manage to get the words out. Profectus glances out into the hallway, drawing his weapon. You're confused for a moment, but then he crouches down next to you. His speech is impassioned, full of anger and just a bit of fear. “Who did this to you!? Were you poisoned? Was it Mortia? Give the word and her life will end!” Wow, that's kind of... touching? In a strange way, at least. You're not sure how you feel about him leaping to the conclusion that this was Mortia's doing, but Profectus is a pretty good friend.

“Water.” You finally manage to croak, and he nods. He shoves his hand into your cloak without a second thought and withdraws a cup filled to the brim with crisp, cold water. You're slightly surprised that Ricky didn't crush his hand or drag him into the cloak, but you're slightly too out of it to truly realize the significance. He holds the cup to your lips and lets you drink. You end up choking down the contents of the cup in three gulps, the burning in your throat doused only slightly. When he withdraws the cup you speak once more, your voice coming out gravely and rough. You don't sound like yourself at all. “Put me into a chair, get Darzi. Did this to myself. Bring back food. Cooked.”

He probably knows her secret, so if he finds out what she is he might just kill her for several different reasons.
>>
He doesn't even hesitate, just rushes to follow orders. For once, he actually sort of seems like a soldier. Disciplined and efficient. It's strange. He drags you as gently as he can manage into the chair in front of his desk and then, after assuring himself you won't fall off, runs out of the room. You must have blacked out, because the next thing you know you're being gently shaken awake. You wave Profectus off, and he lets go. Two heaping plates have been set before you. Fresh baked bread, lamb chops seasoned with various herbs, fresh dates, and a overflowing mug of thick, dark beer. Paradoxically, the sight of the feast before you turns your stomach. You force yourself to pluck up a piece of bread and begin nibbling away regardless.

Darzi is standing in the doorway. She looks like she feels guilty, her hands clasped behind her back and her eyes cast towards the floor. Why is she always so down on herself? She needs to cheer up. “Scars gone?” She looks up when you address her, coughing into her closed fist and nodding. “Yes, my skin's smoother than it was before I was captured. Are you feeling okay, Mik? You look... you look terrible. I think your nose is broken.” You carefully reach a hand towards your nose, poking and prodding. It's definitely crooked. You'll need to heal that, at some point.

You smile a pained smile. “Come on, I heal your scarring and you're still this mopey? Cheer up.” She frowns. “If you hadn't needed to heal me, you wouldn't be in your current state. How can I be happy knowing you had to cripple yourself just to help me?” You shake your head slowly. “Did this to myself. Don't think yourself so important that I wouldn't do borderline suicidal things without you to act as a catalyst. Really, I was just glad to help a friend.” That at least gets a smile out of her, finally. She takes herself too seriously. “Could you heal me? I want to conserve my remaining vys.”

She nods her head brusquely and steps behind you, pressing her palm flat against the hole on the back of your neck and channeling energy into the wound. You absentmindedly note that her form is flawed, she's losing more vys to the atmosphere than she's pushing into the wound. You wonder if you were once just as bad. The wound knits closed without leaving a scar regardless and she continues to channel vys, but this time to heal your nose. You wince as the cartilage forces itself back into place before fusing together.

Oddly she doesn't stop there. You feel the rawness of your throat abate and the pain in your chest ease as she continues to heal you, this time of internal injuries. Some of the pain in your gut is alleviated as well, but you still have no real appetite. After that the flow of vys cuts off and Darzi takes a few steps back, leaning against the desk. She seems drained, after just that simple task. Were you not so exhausted, you probably could've managed it without so much as noticing the expended vys.

“How long was I out?” Darzi stands up straight, cocking her head to the side contemplatively. “About... twelve hours? It's early in the morning now. Chrys, Fulvia, Mortia, and I were eating breakfast with some of the monks. There's a woman here who can play the oud really, really well.” She seems to stress that last sentence. What, does she not enjoy your playing? Is she trying to make a point? You find yourself wondering where Skull Kid is, you've only seen him sparingly since coming to the temple. He better not be secluding himself.

Usually a temporary penalty to max vys will become permanent after enough time has passed, but a particular string of bad luck or a particularly bad decision might cause permanent damage immediately. Usually temporary vys pool reduction is removed after you remove the cause, be it an artifact, a wound, or an effect.

I just realized, Ricky and Mortia..
>>
You squint your eyes for a moment, staring off at nothing in particular and contemplatively nibbling on a loaf of bread. Its got almonds baked into it, and were you able to taste much of anything would probably be delicious. At least swallowing doesn't cause you immeasurable pain anymore. “Your form is poor, Darzi.” She looks at you confused for a moment. “You're forcing as much power as you can into the spell when you try to heal me. You need to learn to simply let the vys flow from you, not force it out.” She nods her head slowly, but doesn't really seem to grasp your point. “It's like throwing all your weight into a single, wild thrust of a spear. If you miss, you've opened yourself up to easy attack by knocking yourself off balance.”

That seems to get through to her, though it's not as accurate a simile as you'd like. “I'll need to meditate on that in the near future, thank you for telling me.” You wave her off. “Don't mention it, I should be thanking you for healing me. Now, on to wholly more important matters.” Your strength is starting to return to you, or at the very least talking isn't a horrible challenge. “What are your plans? Now that I've healed your scars, I've fulfilled my promise. You can return to El-Amin to resume your career, parting with us as a friend and ally, or you can continue to travel with the party. It's up to you.”

She nods her head, her demeanor serious. “I have been thinking about this for quite some time. Though I have enjoyed my time with you and the rest of your companions immensely, for the most part that is, I do not think a life of adventure is the life for me. For the vast majority of my life I have been traveling with my parents, going from village to village to scam the populace out of their hard earned silver. I've had more than my fill of wandering.” She holds up a finger. “But, I have a brooch. It's attuned to all of you. We can still speak whenever you wish and I will always consider you a very dear friend.”

>Try to convince her to tag along with the party.

Quick reminder, you have the Elaudian armor in your cloak. You traded it for her guard armor after you reentered this dimension. She still has the odd spear you found in the vault though.

About that brooch, yeah nah it will be better in SK or Mortia's hand unless we can talk without having one attached.
Gotta try that before we leave

At the very least now we have an in with El-Amin. So can't really complain about that. Also I have a feeling she might just seek us out if she happens to listen in on our brooch chatter a bit too often.

It was poorly thought out for sure. We don't really have a reason to want to kill him. It was his dumbass son we want to punch in the dick. The only way I see us killing him is if some super magical cloak bull shit happens.

I like her as well, but she seems better suited to reintegrating back into society. It's hard to make time for all of the party members at its current size so letting her return to her old life seems a good idea. I don't particularly care about the spear myself.

>>34616509
She was literally right out of the torture chamber and freaked out in a dangerous combat situation. She's not even Lawful stupid, she just has a set of morals and her reaction to Mik's fuck up with the bar was pretty justified since it was a catastrophic screw up filled with idiotic ideas.

Either way, letting her get on with her life seems fine.

Yeah, but we fucked up big time. No-one had the balls to outright say that we turned a perfectly normal business transaction that was negotiated in good faith with an honest, if seedy, party, into a god-damn warzone with tons of collateral damage and civilian injuries, if not out-right casualties. Furthermore, that punching was due to a failed roll on OUR part. Not pointing any fingers, but grabbing the clearly disturbed, traumatized captain while she showed clear signs of discomfort with our close proximity was not one of Mikhael's greater ideas. Think about most people who break the law by assaulting people; guys who punch others in a fit a rage, smash another persons car, etc. They don't learn if you pussy-foot around telling them their mistakes, like what practically our entire party did. Chryssa was too reserved, Skull-kid gave no shits, Fulvia isn't capable of dissent, and Profectus becomes a bitch everytime someone with authority gets involved. In short, stop projecting the results of our own failings onto party members dipshit.
>>
>>34616559
Well not right at this moment, we need to recover first. After that though yeah I'm with you on healing our scar.

Guess it'll be the last series of post for the night
>>
You nod your head. It's the answer you were expecting but you'll still be sad to see her go. You were really starting to grow fond of her, even if she did point out your occasional idiocy and even if she was quite often mopey or otherwise a buzz kill. She served as a counter balance to your insanity, a party conscious so to speak. Still, it's her choice to make and it's not your place to try and dictate her life. “I'll be sad to see you go, but I wish you nothing but the best in life. I mean that sincerely.” You do, too. “When do you plan on leaving?” She shrugs her shoulders. “I hadn't really given it much thought. I think I'd like to take advantage of the temple's resources to improve my talents, but I'll leave in the next few days.”

You stand up under your own power, steadying yourself against the desk. “Well, I won't keep you any longer then. Enjoy your breakfast. I think I'll retreat to the baths and try to understand what's wrong with my reserves. It feels like all the power is there, but it's somehow... compressed, or limited. I struggle to draw any of it forth.” She nods. “I will leave you to it then-” She bows, touching her middle and index fingers first to her forehead and then to her chest. “Good luck, in all your future endeavors.”

You'll need to divide up the loot before she leaves. You'll also need to figure out a way to unattune the Elaudian Armor you found in the vault from Darzi. Maybe Mortia would know something about that? She has a lot of artifacts, and possesses knowledge of actual Rhynian magical practices passed down through the generations. If not, you think Hayes said something about knowing how to unattune artifacts. Next time you swing by Anthus you'll need to ask him should you be unable to figure it out yourself.

(1/2)
>>
You nod to Profectus, clapping him companionably on the shoulder. He'd mostly been sitting out of the conversation. “I appreciate the help, really. You're a good friend.” He grins, waving you off. “Don't mention it, man. You'd of done the same for me, I'm sure.” You nod, and stumble your way out of the room. You're strong enough to walk on your own but the floor seems to be shifting beneath your feet with every step. It's infuriating, but you manage. You make your way through the temple complex passing several small groupings of monks on the way, most of them working away at some chore or another. You saw several scrubbing away at grime on the floors, others etching an engraving of some sort on the wall, and still others simply lounging in the central courtyard and talking amongst themselves. When you pass the door to the garden, you see that perhaps two dozen monks are gathered together eating and drinking, seems they decided to take breakfast there today.

You practically have to drag yourself up the steps to get to the baths, but you manage it well enough. You pause at the top of the stairs to strip off your clothes and hang them from a series of hooks before slipping into the hot water. Seems you're the only one here, at the moment. You take a seat on a stone bench beneath the water and make yourself comfortable, scrubbing the grime and trail dust off of your body. You wonder how they manage to keep the water hot, you doubt having fire vatis working in the underbelly of the bathhouse to heat the pipes is a viable option here.

Once you're suitably clean you fold you assume a meditative pose and try to slip into a trance. You find it inordinately difficult, even submerged as you are in warm water it takes you several minutes to slip away. The ebb and flow of vys in your surrounding slowly fades into view, the real world melting away. Instead of trying to improve your mastery of an element, or learn an effect, you instead turn your sight inwards, towards your own reserves and the vys that pervades you. Your perception seems to shift, until it's almost like you're looking at yourself from an outside perspective.

Your vys is... entirely wrong. Normally, it is diffused more or less evenly throughout one's body, with a concentration in one's core. That is not the case with you. There is a thick, oddly shaped glob of vys that almost looks solid running down your spine with a concentration around your neck. The edges are shifting and wriggling, almost like a living thing. You'd posit that's due to wearing your armor for so long, some kind of blockage or build up. More worrying than that, is that the rest of your body is completely devoid of vys. There is no concentration in your core, none in your limbs at all. Just that thick glob running down your back.

Out of curiosity, you try to cast a simple spell; to create a hovering ball of fire in front of you. One of the writhing tendrils of vys branching off of the glob adhered to your spine is ripped off and channeled to your core, where it's broken apart and converted to actual usable vys. Most of the energy is lost at this stage, leaving you barely enough to actually cast the spell. The ball of flame appears in front of you but only last a few seconds before sputtering out.

This bodes ill.
