Ever since the release of the Virtual Reality Game - Viritia, it became a huge breakthrough to the history of gaming especially to the life of many players who wants to experience a virtually fabricated environment where all of their dreams and fantasies could come true.

A virtual environment where you can do things you can’t do in real life like visiting and relaxing at beautiful places that only exist on the said VR game.

A virtual environment where you can experience special effects that you can only see in movies and games (e.g. magic).

A virtual environment where you can create your own spanning empires or just be a wandering adventurer.

A virtual environment where you can enjoy hanging out with your friends.

A virtual environment where you can experience fighting and killing monsters…

However, all of that is meaningless to you, for there is only one goal within your mind. You will abuse this game to the limits whilst earning the most cash you can for your ailing mother, no matter the cost.

You were just your ordinary everyday highschooler with a “mild” penchant for video games.
Then came the accident where your mother was turned into a sack of irresponsive doll kept alive by modern cybernetics.
To make it worse, you were now tasked with a huge monthly bill to pay the hospital bastards.
Most people would have given up around than however you were never one for giving up.

Currently you are on a fetch quest for the noble “lady” in return for what you hope is useful rewards. Along the way, you “saved” a NPC girl named Marinda and got stuck with a quest from her.

You have just recently done a little RL shopping, met crazy bitch again and fought more red bears which you and the girl barely survived.
You’ve also arrived at the mountain (destination of the fetch quest) only to promptly decide that it’s better to play it safe (did I mention you lost your arm and needed a church/healer? Well you did and do) so you chain-portal spammed all the way back to the beginning town.
There you decided to get healed by the local herblore healer granny who had named her price for your healing… a quest.

So, it’s not going to cost you coin but instead cost you a quest for the healing?

“So… what exactly is this quest I have to do for payment for payment?” you inquire with a sigh. Whilst the fact that healing would require a quest instead of coins works for you, it’s still quite annoying since you are already on a quest with a deadline.

Ugh… all this trouble over healing a damn arm, maybe you should’ve just went to the church or found a player…

“Hmm? Payment? Maybe you are getting confused child. Healing is my job and my life. Helping people is not something you can put a price on. After all, is it not natural to help those who are in need? I will require no such payment for healing the two of you. No instead, I’m simply asking for a favour to help out of the kindness of your heart~ I will be sincerely thankful to you if you can help me in this task~” babbles the old woman as she spouts of words that you can’t help but disagree with.

Well not that you’re complaining, this way around there would be no need to accept ANOTHER quest which probably has no reward… but then again, maybe it would be worthwhile to accept this quest anyhow? You’re not doing it for her sake, it’s just that maybe her being “thankful” is old-woman speak for LOOT LOOT LOOT in this game?

“Can I find out more about this quest?” you question as a system prompt jumps out in front of you showing

>Quest received
An old granny’s love for her son

Rank: E

The old woman known as Helen has a son that she loves dearly. It seems this son of hers used to visit her every second day however recently he has not been showing up.
The old granny is worried that her son may have gotten himself in some kind of trouble, he had always been quite a foolish yet courageous boy.
Her son’s name goes by Simone and is an adventurer who lives in the area.

Reward: Unknown

Time limit: Until she finds out about her son herself or she dies

You decide that since she’s healing you AND more importantly that she’s probably going to be giving you a reward for doing this that you may as well just accept it. Your finger brushes against the accept button of the system prompt as the system prompt pops up

>Quest accepted (3/5)

The old woman smiles at you as she calls out with a soft voice

“Thank you, you are a very kind boy” orly, you’re just doing this for the loot. She continues “Now let’s get you and your friend there healed right up.” She walks forward carrying what appears to be a thread like herb as she requests that you take out your arm. After taking out your arm from your inventory, her hands dash faster than you can see and within moments your arm is sewed back on

>You have regained usage of your right arm

… really? You know this is a game-world but the fact that you can literally just sew back an arm is kind of pushing your suspension of disbelief here.

“Are you fucking telling me that you can just sew an arm back?” you call out half pissed as she smiles.

“You adventurers are tough and strange fellows… well that and the fact that the plant I used was specially made for situations like this helps too. The girl will take longer, probably more than a week. Pick her up when you come back… hopefully with news of my son”

With that taken care of, you walk promptly out of the herb filled house as you decide that nows a chance for

You decide to choose the simplest solution in a case like this and just ask around the local NPCs and players.

Luckily it seems that an E rank quest fits its difficulty as after only an hour or so of asking around, you have quickly gathered the necessary information. It seemed that Simone was last seen more than a week ago and that he was acting suspicious before he disappeared. He was last seen in the forest area just outside of town.

You’re about to start heading towards the forest before you come to an emphiany. You decide that you should not be putting off the Lady’ quest any longer as the longer you take, the less favour there is. The old woman’s request to find her son can wait until after you finish the lady’s quest.

However first there was the railroad, you had come all the way back to town to heal your arm AND get some supplies so it’s best to make the best of it before you leave. You enter the general store ignoring the girl’s quest request as you tell her that you wish to sell your loot.

You obviously decide to sell all of the miscellaneous beast bits you have for a decent amount of 2 bronze altogether however you also have some fur and other stuff too.

>You have sold fancy looking blue wizard's hat
>You have sold all herbs
>You have bought an average yew quarterstaff, looks durable yet mundane
>You have bought 30 bread and 30 water
>You have 2 silver and 3 bronze left

After buying and selling all needed items, you head to a deserted part of the town as you begin the 2 hour long process to summon a temporary portal.

2 hours later, you arrive outside the enormous looking mountain once again

1/2
>>
>>34685860
You step out of the portal arriving at the mountain. You see the two paths before you however as had been decided by you earlier i.e. last thread, you follow the dirt path with the suspicious looking sign.
You keep a lookout for any monsters or flowers that could possibly be the mountain rose however you do not note anything besides dirt and the occasional rock on your trip upwards.

After awhile of walking up the mountain however, a system prompt suddenly jumps out at you
>You are under the effect of the “scroll of random steal”, When you die, you will drop additional items

What th- your thoughts are interrupted by an arrow that narrowly misses your side. Taking a quick look around, you note that there does not appear to be anyone you can see as all you can see are just rock outcroppin- just as another arrow thuds against your shoulder
-20 health 305 health left

The man draws a long and barbed blade from his side as he rushes towards you in the hopes of intercepting you however he is far too slow as his blow misses you from a wide margin as you easily dodge his blow, the blade travelling far over and past your head.
Suddenly however the blade is clouded in a blue aura as the blade changes path mid-air and rushes towards you in a downward swing however whether by luck or skill, you manage to jump to the side narrowly missing the blade.
The jump to the side throws you off balance and as you attempt to regain balance, three stabs slam into your back as the system prompt flashes in the corner of your eye

>lost 117 health, 188health left.

Fuck that archer hard you think as the blows knock you to the ground… however luckily, it seems that you are still conscious as you jump back upright and begin running once again.
The man with the barbed blade seems surprised at this as he reacts too slow to attack you once again as you rush past him down the mountain.

After a short moment, you are at the bottom of the mountain. It seems that the archer and the barbed blade man are chasing you down. You have a moment to think as you decide to

You decide at times like these it’s best to hide until you think of a more sure plan. Maybe you could possibly ambush them or maybe they would lose interest in you. You dash behind a nearby large rock outcropping as you slowly await the attackers.

After a few moments the attackers reveal themselves as they dash down the path, Taking a peek from behind your rock you note that it seems that there had just been two attackers, the archer and the barbed sword wielder. The archer is garbed in the same grey cloak as the swordsman, their cloaks make them apparently appear to fade into the rocky background if you do not focus on them.

“Fucking flying dragon fucks, thought we finally caught one” Curses the archer with venous as the swordsman simply sighs.

They begin searching around the area however it seems that they do not find many traces to follow. You were scared they may have followed your footprints however it seems they do not have the skill or whatever require to do this.

it's really not if we know both weapons individually already. Dual weapon wielding is generally superior at high levels, so we should learn it anyway. That is completely untrue. Dual wielding, especially weapons that are not designed to hit the same range at the same time, makes you a jack of all trades, at the cost of losing a shield.

You will not maximize range/accuracy, nor maximize damage output on a single target due to the conflicting range requirements.

Are you trying to imply that because someone made a martial arts style with it that it's in any way superior to any other style?
Because I could go make a style using a scythe and a coke bottle. It's only been around for 30 years anyways.
If we end up duel-wielding, we should at least take moderately compatible weapons.
Also, remember we have magic to help boost effectiveness. If we can end up instacasting portals then pure melee might be a good decision, with the removal of distance for both offense and defense
>>
>>34687998
>Are you trying to imply that because someone made a martial arts style with it that it's in any way superior to any other style?
no, only that it is viable. I'm neither supporting it, nor rejecting it.

>magic boosting
That only makes whip/dagger even more viable, since you can unequip the whip the moment it gets in the way.

From what I understand, whip/dagger has two strategies:

>1v1
Whip is mid-range offense and can trip opponents
Sacrifice mobility for zoning the opponent
With portalquipping, we can switch from mid-range grabs to close-range grapples at any time.

>party combat
Good zoning against unarmored.
Ineffective against tightly packed armored units
>>
>>34687880
You decide that now that you have the initiative that it’s time to turn the tables around on these foolish attackers.
Your ambush goes quite well as you manage to dart behind rocks closer and closer however it seems that luck is not on your side as when you’re about to dart closer to the two foes, a system prompt jumps out at you

> You have unlocked stat Stealth (1), stealthy actions will increase this, this stat receives is a derivative of the agility stat and wi-

Normally you can easily ignore the system prompts however it seems that for an amateur sneaker like you, the system prompt is enough distraction to break you concentration… and break your stealth… right when you’re at the backs of the two attackers.

Your foot lands heavily upon the ground easily attracting the attention of the archer as he swivels his head around towards you however he is too late as with a mighty swing of your claymore, the blade crunches against his neck killing him almost instantly as the red health bar instantly vanishes.

Unfortunately, his reaction had caught you off guard so you were off balance as the swordsman quickly turns around and after staring at his companion for a fraction of a second, lunges towards you with a roar as he pulls out his barbed blade.

You don’t have any time to pull out the claymore as you realise you must
>dodge thrust than slam your fist into the man
>let go of claymore and counter charge bare handed
>let him stab you somewhere in your chest (players are imba bastards that only die when health reaches zero)
>optional extra: pull out the fucking claymore anyways

Let go of claymore

If we have the dagger at our hip or something, throat-slit. Otherwise, face punch->crotch punch->use as meatshield
>>
>>34688112
If you're unequipping the whip then it's not fucking duel-wielding

>Sacrifice mobility for zoning the opponent
If you're going to zone an opponent, you do it from actual range instead of getting four feet away, that's the point of ranged weapons.

>party combat
In party combat there's absolutely no reason to bring someone who does both jobs decently over one who does one job excellently.

It's an inefficient combination, which will make us effectively useless high-level.
Melee characters will beat the shit out of us at melee range, and ranged will kick our ass at range, and in pve we'll be outclassed by people who can actually do damage.

Ok, I'm not gonna argue with someone who's never used a whip. If you had, you'd appreciate wanting a backup if someone got in close. I knew about Latigo y daga and thought it was interesting that we were learning the component weapons individually, but it's clearly not a popular idea.

The swordsman’s blade is fuelled by years of skills and the power of rage however it seemed that luck was not on this man’s side as the blade that was meant to be thrust into you narrowly misses your throat and instead stabs into air.
Not missing a chance when you have one, you immediately step within a few centimetres from the man as your fist crunches into the man’s nose breaking it for the rest of his short life. The man’s blown backwards by the blow as you follow up with a kick straight into the man’s crotch. The man’s cries of pain are ignored as you jump forward grabbing onto the mans hair with one hand whilst with the other, you happily make a finger gun before stabbing it into the man’s eyeball and gourging it out forcing blood and eyeball juice to pull down his face.
The man couldn’t even react outside of a short scream before your fists pounded into the mans face...again…and again… and again… After a few moments, the man has collapsed onto the ground seemingly unconscious which gives you the chance to

just so you know, stats like wisdom, savagery, foolishness, independence, courage, etc. all matter quite a bit... just not for dice rolls. They exist for a different reason

It's obvious in situations like this that you should hide, after all. Last time you ambushed a bunch of guys, they did turn out to be "good" guys, better play it safe this time. Which reminds you, the cloak that the robber-bastards had used would be perfect for a situation like this.

With a few taps , your fingers dance across the system prompts easily summoning the camo cloak which you drape over yourself. You quickly finish packing up camp and any essentials before scampering behind a large enough rock to hide you as you await the group that slowly comes towards you.

You stay hidden and still as the group which you now recognize to be 3 players and 2 NPCs to arrive a few metres away from you... oh you also recognise the fact that they were by no means human. It seems that they weren't short, they were dwarfs.
You would be more surprised if not for the fact that dwarfs living in mountains is an age-old trope coupled with the fact that Oliver has already told you about the dwarfs living within the mountain.
Only thing that mildly surprises you is that there are players being dwarfs due to the fact that you remember only being able to choose human... maybe theres a race change quest? Or was it a new expansion pack/update or something?

Well whatever the case, you remain hidden as the dwarfs finally arrive at the corpses

“Very true my –Farin123- my friend, it seems that the prophecy that this mountain would one day come under attack by dark forces is correct. Well... it's not like you were going to or anything... totally weren't.

After making sure that the dwarfs are gone out of sight, you begin trekking the journey up the mountain in the darkness. Whilst the dirt road is easy to traverse, the fact that it's quite dark and starting to get pitch black really ruins the experience with you tripping over yourself and hurting yourself every 5 or so minutes.

Hm having looked at the pastebin has anyone thought about 'reflector' portals by basically have one attack come in from one side then ejected out the other? In other words hurl someones attack right back at them or even at someone else. Would make for some fearsome defense at range and if were real good even up close.

Or for that matter portals we can put down at range? They would make for some dick traps and easier to deploy ourselves among others.

Portals seem to me once you upgrade a bit and are inventive...pretty goddamn nasty. And if combined with summoning we could potentially open up other 'realms' or whatever it is as there may very well be some synergy.

The mass of tentacles rush towards you however with your agility already at a decent level and furthermore, the fact that it was getting boosted by foolish courage, meant that you extremely fast, faster than even most olympic atheletes... however even with that speed, it seemed that you could not dodge over 40 tentacles as whilst you dodge or cut past the majority, a few manage to latch onto your left arm and legs as you're suddenly pulled in various different directions by the monsters
You could almost hear your bones popping... oh wait you can.
>Dislocated left arm
>-40 health

You stab and cut as you free yourself giving you a second of respite as even more tentacles rush you

Actually, I just think it matches what we've established as his personality. I mean, with a skill like foolish courage, do you really expect anything else?
>>

I'm kind of doing both.
I just like seeing people fail, it makes things fun.
I'm all for having a non-retarded build and proper build though

Foolish courage is part of his power, but not part of his personality.

He's trying to earn a living, here.

I'm $100 serious about the ventriloquism though.

>>

>>
>>34691816
It's not like we can't have both.

>>
>>34691781
I agree, but it's just one among the many list of skills we need.

Climbing
Parkour
Potions
Identify
Discount/Overcharge
Salvage/Disassemble
Ventriloquy
Enchanting
Cooking
Repair
Building/Construction

we could've gotten, like, half of these skills before stepping out of town.
>>
>>34691707
You decide that in a situation like this, its best to play defensively by staying the fuck alive dodging and cutting any of the fucking tentacles that reach you. Although you are greatly outnumbered, you are significantly faster, don't feel pain and are currently getting powered up due to acting as an idiot.

With a grin, you slash and dodge and slash and dodge and slash and dodge... whilst there is no pain within this world, there is certainly exhaustion, after around 5 hours, you are significantly slower than before however luckily the tentacles and monsters have also been severely damaged, there were currently

>Roll 1d20
>Average of 3 to see how many tentacles left, you want low this time

And that you were currently at
>Roll 1d150
>Average of 3 to see how much health you have left
>>
>>34691759

Yea, but he's obviously not too bright. I mean, I wish the guy the best, but things like efficiency and proper planning are completely outside of his domain. The ONLY thing he has at this point to put him on point for his goal is foolish courage. With that steroid he's a rather capable character. Without it, he's weak as hell. Believe it or not, using foolish courage at every opportunity is as close as this guy is going to get to power gaming.

It had been a harsh fight, you were exhausted and had barely 24 health left along with a dislocated left arm that was in serious need of "relocating". The tentacle bastards faired no better with them currently at 7 working tentacles spread across the 4 of them. You understand that you may have to fucking waste your copper by using a health potion or you will die however... HEALTH POTION FUCKING COSTS MONEY... Maybe you can finish this fight without them?

As you keep fending off the tenctacles, you come to a decision to

>Use lesser health potion (+50 per use, you have 1)
>Keep going defensively without wasting money
>Rush one of the monsters and get them out of the game (state whether to use potion first or not)
>Run away, they can't chase outside their tentacle range
>writein

>>34691930

I've been lurking for the most part, but the simple fact is, this is /tg/. People are going to go after the shiny in front of them, regardless of how good an idea it is. Honestly, keeping that in mind, we haven't done that bad. We've survived multiple points where we should have died, and, while we probably shouldn't become a wizard at this point, we've consistently put our points in stats and gained skills to help us survive. Honestly, I think our best bet at this point would be some kind of thief or warrior. ... Preferably some kind of warrior, and we'll be golden.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO YOUR SHEKELS~~~~~, with a mental scream, you summon the potion whilst fending off a particularly touchy feely tentacle as… 10 heart beats later and the potions appears… yet you have no free hand to use it.

Swearing at your lack of forethought, you let go of your blade momentarily as you hastily drink down the health potio-... only for a tentacle to come out of nowhere and smack the potion out of your hand, its glass shattering against the floor.

Son of a fucking bitch, that was worth a decent amount of copper.
Red rage tints your vision as you rush towards the fool that had dared to do this, various tentacles attempt to strike at you yet you easily avoid all of them as you have finally reached the monster that had destroyed your potion.
Without even a glance at the tentacles reaching towards you from your left and right, your fist smashes directly into the eye of the monster as the small amount of health it has left promptly dissipates and the monster dies.

A gush and fountain of blood and eye-juice stains your character however you easily ignore it, just as you ignore the few system prompts showing up. It did not matter, as long as you got your revenge than all was fin-

Sorry if post is short, had already started writing us dieing and going zombie after the first two rolls and now have to rewrite
The tentacles that rushed towards you from behind your back, the tentacles attacking you from your left side, the tentacles attacking from your right side and even a pervert tentacle trying to sneak at you from below... all of them miss as come to a simple realization that EVERY FUCKING LAST ONE OF THEM are at fault for making you lose your coppers.

You turn to face the other bastards as you make a smile even whilst being covered head to toe in blood and eye juice
>+1 savagery
The system prompt seems to think you're a savage however you hardly notice it as you slowly and calmly start walking towards the rest of the monsters.

The rest of the fight could hardly be called a fight, it was simply a one sided slaughter. You did not rush them like the first one. No you slowly enjoyed yourself ripping the tentacles one by one until the monsters had not a single tentacle left. Following this, you spent some quality time doing
-censor censor censor what the fuck are you doing-
>+3 savagery
you notice the system prompt after you calm down somewhat, man that was good stress relief you think to yourself as with a grunt, you "relocate" your arm... however it seems that it did not work like it did in the movies as it takes you several tries to get it "right".

What followed was a bit of harvesting which would take an hour or two.
+alota shit which QM will think of later

You also note that after the fight that you had gained a new skill
>"Nerd" rage (beginner): Whenever your Hit Points drop to 10% or below, your Strength+ Agility + Endurance is raised by 10.
I'll give a virtual cookie to whoever gets the reference

The fight was over, after collecting your items, you begin trekking up the now hard to climb mountain as there was no path.
