Adjusting your angle of descent, you burst through the upper atmosphere and leave the burning halo of your reentry behind. Here the sky is dark, and it serves you well to continue unnoticed as your follow the remnant of the broadcast of song and power along waves yet defined by human science.

Coming to a stop, near to invisible, in the skies above the Iselsberg Pass in Austria you take a deep breath out of habit and survey the scene. You know how deep underground the cavern bunker network below you rests, or at least how deep the point of broadcast you’ve been tracking is. Either way, this is where the man calling himself The Maestro will be found.

Your name is Tsubasa Campbell, some weeks ago you died and became something more than human. Fused with a colony of ancient and possibly alien nanotechnology, you’ve been given a new chance to live and become the person you’ve always been prevented from becoming from old injuries.

Having just destroyed a monster made entirely of this technology, you’ve tracked down its puppeteer to this mountain.

Pitching forward and banking right, you sweep quickly around the mountain, spiraling around it toward the base. A storm began some time ago, coating the craggy mountain in white and lowering visibility. Extending your mundane and supernatural senses, you eventually find a camouflaged steel facade along one of the footpaths through the mountain. Cold wind bites against the carapace of red and black, increasing in speed and intensity at your approach. Tearing away into the facade, you find it conceals a complex vault door, though you feel no hum of electrical power. The power surge from your earlier interference must be yet unresolved beyond these doors.

Compressing down to your baseline mass, you duck into the opening and stand before the vault door. Still breathing from habit, your musculature tenses and relaxes in anticipation of violence. The thought of revenge against the maestro bringing you glee, and a shiver of hope.

Walking up to the vault door, you lay a curious hand against it and extend your wings. The room fills with the hum of your own ability to manipulate electromagnetic forces. You feel and find the pins and internal locking mechanisms of the vault, normally controlled through an electric motor by a keypad here to the side.

“Easy,” you smile.

Laying a hand upon the door, your red hair stands on end as you fuel the circuitry of just the door with energy, and activate the motors to withdraw the primary locks from the door. From the direct contact, you feel a large manual deadbolt wheel on the far side. With concentration and precision, you being turning it by the use of your power with a soft beat of your wings in the confined outer hall.

The heavy vault door slides forward a fraction of an inch. You pull it the rest of the way and find a long and dark corridor. Striding forward into the darkness, you duck into an alcove and fold your wings neatly behind you at the echoing approach of footsteps.

Two men, in coverall jump suits and carrying automatic weapons come into view in the dark. Around their necks are large glowsticks, shrouding the dark corridor in green light.

They converse in a language you are unfamiliar with, one motions down the way you came from.

There's no mention of them turning a corner, or coming in from a side tunnel.
>>
>>34727652
Ok? None of the people you quoted, myself included, ever suggested plans dependent upon them coming around a corner. We just wanted to keep walking past them, because we're kinda far beyond the point where humans with automatic weaponry can even delay us.
>>
>>34727514
>>34727595
Given how this quest tends towards realism, knocking them out would either kill them, give them permanent brain damage or only last a few seconds.

It'd be quicker, safer for us and possibly more merciful to just kill them and be done with it.
>>
>>34727724
Ignoring them and walking past them would just let them raise the alarm and get them to mobilize the nanite colonies they have in defense, giving the Maestro an opportunity to escape.

Letting your form bore into the shadows, you fix the two men with a stern gaze and relax your restraint over your ability to cloud the minds of others to perceive everything related to you being perfectly normal, even when there are things glaringly amiss or abnormal. In the dim green light of their glow wand lanyards you can’t see their eyes lose focus, but you still perceive them jerking slightly before agreeing to check out the sound coming from the main doorway.

As they step past, you slip out of the alcove and proceed deeper into the mountain. You encounter no one else as the pathway takes a gradual incline, eventually become stairs. After a time, you find an intersection extending north and south, the eastward path you had been following extends ahead.

Letting your awareness pulse, you clearly sense the point of broadcast and a sizeable cluster of nano colonies somewhere ahead of your to the east. To the north you feel the remnant crackle of electrical power, perhaps a battery store of power generator. South of you are several separate small clusters of nano colonies, not entirely active.

Best not leave a potential enemy at your back...

Turning from the staircase to the south, you progress on the even hallway until you come to a bright opening into a well lit cavern room. You hear the loud snap and crackle of electricity and smell fresh ozone and other assorted chemicals, as your eyes adjust numerous submersion pools, a series of holding cells, and numerous technicians working a variety of consoles. One man toward the center of the room stands over an open wiring access hatch with his hands plunged into assorted wires as arcs of electricity roll from his shoulders within a radius of three feet.

In the dead center of the room is a large glowing column of clear safety glass. Suspended within it, you feel a writing sea of nano colonies.

Each pool contains a person draped in similar fashion to the ‘emulators’ you encountered and still control in Tokyo. One of the holding cells contains cowering and afraid people, the other contains at least thirty body bags.

The Maestro would do this? It makes your blood seethe and boil. It makes the red and black wet your lips.

>>
>>34729027
ok, thought you were only talking about breaking the machine
>>
Reaching into the recess in the wall, you dig your fingers into the sliding bulkhead door. Using a combination of your own physical strength and magnetic manipulations, you slide the bulkhead closed quietly. Striding forward, you let the red and black loose slightly, through circuitous patterns it spreads across the floor. They slide into the systems all around and paint to you a clear picture of the technical makeup of the room and its equipment.

The consoles being worked on are monitoring the stasis of the would be emulators, they haven’t been integrated with the colonies in the oxygen rich fluid filling the submersion tables. The glowing column is a stasis and storage container. Both are currently being powered by that man.

They take notice of you as you whip your arm forward, morphing the read and black into an extended tendril. It cracks against the easily broken surface of the column and shatters it. As brilliant blue liquid cascades out around the tendril, it seizes on contact. Drinking deeply, you feel your body suffused with new raw materials to be processed and dedicated to your expanding systems.

The red patterns, always in motion, across the black of your slick carapace glows as they turn to you, one of the technicians shouting something in what you assume to be german.

“Let them go,” you say sternly as you prime your power to disable their systems. Their consoles spark and go black with the faintest effort.

Feh, traditional technology.

The lightning man regards you aggressively.

Whipping the tendril again, you break open the holding cell and growl as the technicians hurry to the submersion tables and begin sitting up the Emulators to be, free from the suspension fluid, the ten or so people cough the strange fluid and look about confused.

The hair on the back of your neck bristles as the man with electrical powers rises, dropping wires back into the access hatch. Lights immediately dim, replaced with the red emergency power lights this room is equipped with.

He begins to approach you in anger, flashes of light arcing from his body as your wings spread threateningly in response. That man shouts something angrily, in German, as he approaches.

Just because we don't know how things exactly work has not been a detriment to our ability to use them.

>>34731150
If we can control mass, then we can affect a thing's weight, how easily or difficult it is to move, and how well our gravity control can affect something.
Also, even if something were to become invisible it wouldn't be able to hide its mass and the way it affects space around it.

Oi, keep it civil if you can, gents.

Okay, that's good, some real applications have been listed and I'm now giving this power serious thought since I know what it would be capable of.

I'm assuming that last point falls under something which high-grade cosmic awareness would already be capable of picking up on, but it still seems pretty good.

What about more direct applications that don't play off of our other powers, any ideas for those?

How much for a power that would make us faster? Like upgrading our nervous system: Fiber Optic Neuro-Muscular System?

How much does the rules say for a new power at 1d6?

4 points for a completely new power
1 or 2 points to change a word

>direct applications of mass control
By manipulating the Higgs field that the Higgs Boson creates, you could force atoms to fly apart. Actual disintegration rays, in other words.

And add Higgs Field Control at 1d6 to leave us with 2 points for emergencies.

That's pretty awesome.

Would we be able to use it to a variable degree and control whether it just vaporizes them or makes them explode apart into a shower of gore and viscera or is this an all or nothing kind of thing?

>>34731911

Supporting this.

>is this an all or nothing kind of thing
If the control was good enough to select 50% of the atoms in a body, sure, you could control whether it's a full-on disintegration or an explosion of gore.

I'm just thinking it's a way to destroy nano colonies if we can't control them (if they resist our Symphony of the Ancients) or tear apart big kaiju better.

It seems there are some suggested point breakdowns, what are the totals & who has thrown their support behind them?

I just want amazon maxed. Other people can do whatever they want with the remaining points.

>Fiber Optic Neuro-Muscular System 1d6 4 points
Don't really like this phrasing, we do enough with our musculature as it is, and that may not help our reactions in all areas, might I suggest something more universal?
Enhanced Reaction Time
Accelerated Perception
Enhanced Time Sense (borrowing on the GURPS definition of such)
Temporally Accelerated Reactions
Temporal Reflexes
>>
>>34738786
All these votes for MAX AMAZON. The power is getting to our head with the size were going to be. All good and IC. Just need to be really big, but everyone see this as normal.
>>
>>34739592
Enhanced perceptions and sense are no good if the muscles themselves can't move fast enough, or the message signals from the brain are still bound by the speed of electro-chemical signals rather than light.
And even if the nerves were fiber optic bundles transmitting information at the fastest possible speed without using micro-wormholes, you'd still be limited by the signal lag in the interface between the nerves and the muscle.
>>
>>34739592
None of those protect against any kind of nano colony attack aimed at disrupting nerves, though.
Making the nervous system, muscles, and brain work on light signals can protect against what could come at us from whatever other nano colonies are left.
>>
>>34739655
I agree that fiber-optic is too slow.
So, temporal twisting is the was to so for our reaction time. We already bend space casually.
>>
>>34739705
Fiber optics have issues as well, superconductors would be better, and still lightspeed is done right.. could also help with real reaction time as well if applying to the brain. No matter how fast we can respond physically, we'd still have to be able to process, recognize, and formulate a response to a threat to send a reaction to first.

Might I suggest "Direct Neuro-Muscular Control"?
Using an innate complex application of our electrical manipulation abilities to control our body directly, rather than rely relays of any sort.
May have applications outside just our own body..
