Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you drove a poor, innocent grasshopper to suicide and broke a woman's spirit.

Sister Balik sets her oud down calmly in her lap, mustering what vestiges of willpower she has. “I think we ought to discuss payment.” You frown, but nod. “If it's gold you want, I have plenty. I wouldn't be averse to paying for lessons.” She shakes her head firmly. “No. I don't want your money. You're buying me drinks. Several drinks. Manifold and varied drinks.” She stands promptly, slinging her oud casually over her shoulder. “After the evening meal, meet me at the inn. I need to meditate.” She stalks off with that, before you can manage a response. That is perhaps the most reluctant and annoyed you have ever heard someone sound while requesting your company for the evening. You're not sure if you should be flattered or insulted.

The gardens are largely emptied. Now that you've concluded your lesson, a deathly silence has descended upon the world. Not sound interrupts the silence save your own breathing. That nigh sacred silence is shattered completely when a long, drawn out hiss issues from some of the pumps supporting Skull Kid's helmet. Steam roils out from where his helmet had apparently sealed itself off and various sensors unseal themselves. “How did it go? I sealed off my helmet to protect myself.” You glare at him. “Thanks for the support, SK. I'll have you know I've improved greatly since the lesson started. Soon I'll be the greatest oud player this land has ever seen!” Skull Kid scoffs. “Mik, come on. Don't get your hopes up.” He stands, and you follow suit, grumbling under your breath about showing him what you're capable of.

A quick glance skywards reveals that the sun is quickly sinking towards the horizon, the evening meal will probably be served once night has fallen proper, so you have a few hours until then. You could get some reading in, or speak with a friend or one of the monks. You might also find a partner to spar with or hold a Siege! Game with, if you looked around. You wanted to ask Sister Kaur about that strange meditative technique she was using, most people are stock still when they meditate, but she seemed to involve her entire body, undulating and twisting. Sadly she's nowhere to be found, having fled the gardens shortly after you started playing.

>Head to the library for some reading, invite Skull Kid along if he wants to come.
>Head for the sparring grounds instead.

Incidentally, Soma, I just finished an archive binge of this quest last night after stumbling upon Life Quest. Kick ass quest you're running here but holy shit the sheer amount of shitposting and sperging that goes on in an average thread is astounding. It's like a campaign played by fucking /b/ holy shit. Keep soldiering on Soma and keep up the excellent work.

You wander out of the gardens and search the temple more or less aimlessly for Sister Kaur or the Varistha, whichever came first. Skull Kid follows, slouched over with his hands shoved into his pockets. After several minutes of fruitless searching you finally cave and decide to ask a passing monk. “Excuse me, have you seen Sister Kaur or the Varistha?” The monk looks at you bleary-eyed.

Come to think of it, he absolutely reeks of alcohol. “Kaur? Her an'... uh, fuck.” He scratches the back of his head, staring off into the middle distance. “Aziz? Yeah! Tha's 'is name.” The monk nods enthusiastically. “They're off... I 'unno, one of their rooms. Her's I think.” He waves a hand dismissively, wobbling precariously on his feet. “Wouldn't bother 'em if I was you, friend. Y'know how those two are.” You don't, but you could probably guess. “Sehzzy-” Is that really his nickname? “-ought to be... uh, the arena. I think. This time of day.”

>Thank the monk and head for the Arena, where the Varistha ought to be.

Wait, are you guys actually going to try to play? I was assuming you were just going to wander up to the door and strum away with wild abandon.

If you actually want to try and sound half-way decent, roll 3d10-4 vs DC 20. I've decided that a negative modifier makes more sense than a prohibitively high DC.

Remember, to apply a negative mod to a roll you need to type dice+3d10+-4

Compare a 10 year old that has seen an instrument to some one who has had a lesson with a professional.
I am not saying we're a god but. Learning from a professional is the difference between day and night.
Knowing how to hold an instrument, using a pick, which cords make which sounds, and how hard to pluck the strings. Makes for huge improvements.
>>
>>34733851
We will go back to normal soon, after this little bout we should be reading books or talking to the old man.
>>
So. Onto something that may save us some trouble later on,

Last thread the Varistha said his nature magic was specialized in the area of the mind. And we have that whole dead god up in our pink thinker, so I think it would be wise to ask for his help in a way that we don't come across as someone who should probably be isolated from society forever.
>>
>>34733851
Yeah, let's not turn this into "le random quest".
>>
>>34733882
yeah we definitely need to learn about water from that old dude
>>
Still waiting for when the Varistha kicks us out after learning about Fulvia and Mortia.
>>
>>34733918
It seems like both metal and nature can help out our mind a bit.
>>
>>34733882
Eh while we're here we should take advantage of the library here.
But learning new meditations could be awesome, * help in reducing dc*
Learning how to cast a heal from an oud to only affect our party members/cast metal to distract certain enemies. fucking boss.
So before we learn, we're asking about that magic and getting at least another lesson. As soon as we hit a 0 modifier we get +2 for not sucking ass. Which is a +2 to oud magic
>>

Can't believe we chose to bother a couple of monks other seeing a thousand year old grandmaster flexing his muscle.
>>
>>34734246
Its been 36 minutes, so i wondered what happwned.
>>
“Where might I find Sister Kaur's room?” The drunken monk squints at you for a moment, shaking his head. “It's... uh, last door on the left, in the monk's wing.” He waves a hand off vaguely behind him, and you nod. That's not really a lot to go on but hopefully you can figure it out. You leave the monk to his drunk wandering and wander off in the general direction he indicated. Skull Kid speaks up as you head towards the monk's quarters. “Are you sure this is a good idea, Mik? I mean, cock blocking a dude is a kind of a dick move.” You look back at Skull Kid utterly confused. “Cock blocking? I doubt Aziz has a rooster and even if he did, why would we want to block it?”

Skull Kid sighs wearily. “It's a phrase, like... preventing a man from getting laid.” You pause, considering this for a moment. “I suppose that is indeed rather rude.” Skull Kid nods. “Understatement, it's a blatant violation of the bro-code.” He notices your uncomprehending stare and explains further. “The bro-code is a code of honor held amongst men, its rules essentially equating to 'don't be a dick'. Interrupting a man while he's attempting to get a little play with his woman is tantamount to betraying all the code stands for.” His voice has adopted an overly dramatic and fanciful tone, and he's drawn himself up to his full height. You get the vague sense that he might be taunting you. You've also got only the vaguest idea of what 'getting a little play' means.

(1/3 or 4)
>>
>>34734246
Well at least we'll be huge dicks about it.
Imagine banging a qt girl and suddenly hearing mik play oud.
>>
>>34734246
frankly I wanted to go see the grandmaster but the majority somehow decided to get in the way of a couple of monks snu snu
>>
Regardless, you casually dismiss his concerns with a wave of your hand. “I really just want to ask Kaur about that meditative method she used. It looked intriguing, and I have an idea that it might be useful should I ever wish to create some sort of battle meditation.” Skull Kid cuts in once more. “Don't you think there might be a better time for that? Like, I don't know, when they're not banging?” You suppose, but you'd really like to ask now instead of later. Your schedule is starting to look a little packed, what with taking Balik out for drinks and speaking with the Varistha in the Arena. “It will only take a second, Skull Kid. We probably won't even really be interrupting anything.”

Skull Kid holds ups his hands in mock surrender. “Fine, have things your way. I'm not getting involved though. You ruin someone else's fun on your own time, I've got a project to work on.” He slips off with that, slinking off down the hallway towards your party's suite of rooms. Man, when did Skull Kid become so opinionated? He's fine with you kidnapping a man, setting a bar on fire, and killing a bunch of people but not okay with playing a harmless prank? Talk about a skewed moral compass.

You continue on alone to the Monk's Quarters. You note this part of the temple is much, much nicer than your suite of rooms. The floors are made of marble tile and intricate carvings adorn almost every surface. Most of them depicting battle, healing wounded soldiers, or the goddess performing some feat or another. You come to the last door on the left and, judging from the noises filtering through the door, this is indeed your destination. You pluck a few strings, and then carefully tune your instrument. Once satisfied that it sounds as good as it can, you begin strumming away absentmindedly.

(2/3)
>>
Apparently you put too much pressure down on the pick, or perhaps tightened a string too tight, because as soon as you drag the pick across the highest pitched string it snaps with a loud, metallic twang. You frown, using a bit of metal magic to repair the damage. It takes an inordinate amount of vys just to perform that simple task in your weakened state, and you end up channeling additional vys to enhance your manual dexterity, in the hopes that it will help you avoid further incidents.

This time when you begin to strum away at the strings and finger the chords more or less at random, you don't break anything. However, what you produce couldn't really be called music. It's just noise, really. Unpleasant, jarring noise. You play for several minutes before the door in front of you is jerked open violently, a topless Kaur standing in front of you with a long, curved dagger in hand and generous breast bared to the world. You stop playing abruptly, and through gritted teeth Kaur speaks. “Shut. The fuck. Up.” She emphasizes her words by jabbing the dagger in your general direction with each syllable. When you open your mouth to respond, she slams and locks the door.

>Fuck this chick, nobody tells you what to do. Keep playing.

You sigh, tucking your oud into your cloak. Perhaps you really did take that a bit far, but live and learn you suppose. You can always try to make amends later and weasel the information you want out of Kaur. For now, there is a thousand year old monk you need to speak with about vys. It doesn't take you long to navigate through the various hallways of the temple up first to the baths, which are markedly more crowded than they were when you were meditating earlier. From there you climb the stairs up to the surface and find yourself standing before the vast Rhynian amphitheater.

The runes that adorn its walls glow brightly in the fading light of the sun and the gates that allow one entrance to the sparing grounds have been locked. Fortunately, the gates allowing one entrance to the spectator's stands are still wide open, and you quickly climb up to the second level of the amphitheater and make your way inside. The sight before you is... impressive, to say the least. Whatever enchantment was placed on the floor of the arena has been activated, and the thick glass that once covered the pool of water in the center has vanished. The Varistha walks on the water as if it were no more treacherous than sand, sliding smoothly from one form to the next. Water swirls about him like a cloak, solidifying into ice as necessary to ward off the attacks of some sort of golem. It's massive, nine feet tall at least, and wields a sword taller than you are. Each time it swings, it's met by a shield of ice, each time it tries to charge forward, it's blasted backwards.

It seems you've only caught the tail end of this little performance, as only a few minutes after you arrive the Varistha waves his hand and the golem melts away into the water below. The water which surrounds the Varistha likewise sinks into the pond, before the glass that covered it when you first saw the stadium slowly pieces itself back together to cover the floor of the arena. It seems to simple appear, one piece at a time. A rather odd sight to witness. The small crowd that had gathered to watch the Varistha begin to applaud, and you join in. It really was a rather impressive display, if only because it seems unbelievably useful should you ever be in combat against multiple opponents. You wonder if he'd teach you that technique, should you ask.

Your thoughts are interrupted as the Varistha produces a icy stairwell from thin air, climbing it from the arena grounds to the stands. A number of younger monks approach him, excitedly asking him questions, and he answers them one at a time. Once the apprentices clear out you approach, bowing as is customary when you draw near. He returns the gesture, though to a lesser degree, and motions for you to speak.

You clear your throat. “Tell me, what was that technique you were just using? It looked incredibly useful.” The Varistha grins. “Ahh, a method of my own design. I call it point defense, as it focuses on rapidly reacting to an attack at one specific point. I employed it to great effect during the initial skirmishes against the Rhynian army outside of what is now El-Amin, the first time it was besieged that is. I wasn't present during the second siege, or else it might not of fallen!” He certainly does have a high opinion of himself.

“It works best as a fusion of water and nature magic. Using the enhanced senses afforded by nature magic, a vatis ought to be able to anticipate attacks from all sides at once, and react accordingly. However, when dueling a single opponent like I was the nature aspect isn't as important. It's a costly technique, but well worth it I think. These days I can maintain it for days if I need to, but in my youth more than a few minutes was horribly taxing, even as a Grandmaster.” The Varistha shakes his head. “I'm getting off topic, if you're interested in practicing it yourself you may meet me and the other Vatis in the meditation chamber one hour after the sun has risen in the morning. I'd be glad to teach you now, but I'm afraid these days my joints tire out before my vys reserves. I believe I'll retire for a nap before dinner, yes.” He nods, more to himself than anyone else.

Wait, it's just... that easy? Show up and he'll teach you? Maybe the Varistha isn't so bad after all. “In that case, two more questions and I will leave you to retire. Would you mind telling me about the enchantment on the arena floor?” The Varistha hems and haws for a moment before frowning. “I'm afraid I don't properly know, I was never an enchanter. It's an old Rhynian trick, related to the create effect I believe.” He smiles apologetically and shrugs. Somehow you get the feeling he's not telling you everything he knows, but you press on regardless.

“Last question, Varistha. I employed a variety of techniques to enhance my abilities when I healed my friend of her scars-” The Varistha's eyes light up. “Ah! She was telling me about that, yes. Quite good! Quite good, impressive work. You hardly need my guidance, it seems.” You smile despite yourself, it's always nice to be praised. Especially from a Vatis more than a thousand years your senior. “Yes, well. I noticed some negative side effects after the fact and wanted to ask you about them. When I meditated afterwards I noticed that my vys reserves had, for lack of a better word, solidified. Congealed into a thick mass around my spine and neck. Any idea why that might've been?”

Sehzade frowns contemplatively. “Hmm, well. It's not unusual for such 'solidified vys' to form after a prolonged period of vys saturation. Of course you understand it has to be-oh what's a good word...” He trails off. “Small scale vys saturation? Of course, in truly severe cases the vatis' body simply breaks down until all that's left is a pile of ash. Less severe cases will only really do damage over time, damage most frequently expressed in that congealed vys you noticed. I'd recommend simply being more careful with items which enhance your reserves.” He waves a hand dismissively. “Assuming you've broken down the congealed vys, and I assume you have because besides being low your reserves seem fine, there won't be any lasting damage. Rest, relax, don't push yourself. That's all you really need to do.”

You smile and bow to the Varistha in thanks, he returns your gesture to a lesser degree before making his way towards the exit. You wait a few moments before following. You don't really have just a terrible amount of time before dinner, but you might be able to cram one more thing in.

I like this idea, it would really help them a lot. The best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in it. Why don't we bring them with us when we go get drinks with the oud playing sister later? I am told that a great way to pick up a language is to go to a bar where none speaks your language, order two drinks, and try to start a conversation.

You make your way once more through the baths and into the temple proper. It doesn't take you long to find the library, and the door slides open readily with just a touch of vys. The library is just as resplendent as you remember it, the tree that serves as the focal point of the room being tended to by a white-haired monk using a cane to support herself. She's practically been hobbled by age. A number of artifacts sits in a display case just before the tree, each one bearing some significance to the temple itself. You note a hammer, a gauntlet, and a dagger. The others are out of view.

Profectus and Chrys have pulled two chairs to a table and are sitting across from one another, reading. Chrys is sitting in the chair side ways, her legs curled up against her chest and her book held close to her face. Profectus, in stark contrast, is sprawled out across the chair taking up an inordinate amount of space, the book held at arms length like some sort of dangerous animal. You hear him complaining from across the room. “Is all the script in this nonsense scribble language? I can't read this!” Chrys replies disinterested. “I saw some Rhynian scripts in the bookshelf in the far right corner on the second floor.” Profectus frowns haughtily. “Well why didn't you tell me that sooner? It would've spared me thirty minutes of struggling to decipher this nonsense!” Chrys replies deadpan. “You didn't ask.”

Good to see they're getting along, and actually taking time to study. Neither seems to have noticed you, and you have an entire library before you. It would be a simple task to grab a book and eavesdrop. Then again, they seem like they've been here a while. You might know the layout better than you do.

You browse through the shelves absentmindedly, picking out anything that strikes your fancy. One book in particular strikes you as useful, a crumbling tome with a heavy, iron cover. Picking it up and flipping open the front page, you see that the parchment has yellowed with age but the illustrations inside retain their magnificence. Gold and silver leaf sketches intricate geometric designs on the front page, and the lettering is a deep burgundy color reminiscent or rust. The lettering is a bit hard to decipher, it's in Old Samjan, so some of the grammar is odd. It's still decipherable though. You think it might be about metal magic, but you'd need to look into it in more detail to be certain.

You grab the Beginner's Guide to the Elements: Nature Edition as well as a history relating to the War for the Pass between ancient Rhynia and Hiacia. The War for the Pass is a famous conflict amongst your people, lasting several centuries. It was fought over control of the pass between Pidjata and the Rhynian Provinces, Rhynia eventually winning decisively and invading inner Pidjata. While not really a magical tome, it nonetheless appeared interesting. The title of a novel catches your interest, 'The Serpent and The Staff', you tuck it into your swiftly growing pile.

You've almost made a complete circuit around the library, you're approaching Profectus and Chryssa's table at this point. The last book you pluck out of the shelves is simply titled 'Great Artifacts of Ancient Hiacia'. Considering you spend a significant amount of your free time delving ruins in search of artifacts, it seemed right up your alley. Your arms loaded with books, you take a moment to survey the library. The old woman who was trimming the tree earlier has taken a seat at a desk and is currently flipping through a novel absentmindedly. You'd likely want to talk to her if you intended to remove any of these books from the library. Chryssa and Profectus are still chatting away, Profectus doing the vast majority of the talking. As far as you can tell he's giving an impassioned speech about the merits of spending a day on the beach.

>>34736836
Think about it this way. We need a cohesive unit that's comfortable with each other. I'd like to propose that we use beach day as a reward for engaging in small unit training. First day will hardly go well, since we've a few strong personalities and our individual styles are wildly different. Thus, we chill out with each other so that our mates can get comfy and relaxed with each other to the point where they believe they can trust each other. And if it does go well, hurrah! Inter-squad social links! I wanna see more stuff like Darzi easing Chryssa out of her shell.

Remember lads, there's many reasons to keep Darzi and no good ones to send her off. First of all, she's got the most progress with Water magic, and that will be essential for party survivability. Back in the mine-shaft, we seriously had to consider whether to let Chryssa or Profectus die when our Vys reserves ran low. I don't ever want to have to ponder decisions like that again on a freaking dungeon dive, and I especially don't want to consider choices like, "Keep Profectus temporarily maimed, or become unconscious healing him?" and, "What are Chryssa's chances of survival if we heal 2 ribs? 3 ribs? What if we pass out?" in the future. Having our other mates branch out is a good idea, but they're hardly at the level they need to be to make it practical, and all of them are specced out for other functions already. Darzi has presents an untapped, unspecced secondary pool of Vys that will insure our collective health. Also, she's practically our only tank. She's has proven able to tank hits that would cripple Profectus and disable Chryssa at the bar ambush, when fighting the corrupted AI, etc. If ya'all haven't noticed, we're kinda a bunch of glass cannon spell casters and she's our only soldier. Those are the best combat reasons. Now, socially? She's a Jew after our own heart and NOT a xenophobe. From what I've seen so far, this is some seriously rare shit. Despite not knowing what we're going on about half the time in Rhynian, she's been patient and

You cross the library to the woman's desk, setting the books down gently in front of her. She lowers her book, squinting at you briefly before turning her attention to your pile of books. “I'm afraid I can only allow guest two books at a time, we've had incidents in the past where Vatis have stolen off in the night with a load of books in hand.” She quickly tacks on to that sentence. “Not that you'd do something like that! It's just policy.” You frown. You suppose it shouldn't be too hard to narrow your selections down to two books, but that's still irksome.

“Is there any cost involved, or is it simply that I must return them once I've finished?” She smiles cheerily. “Oh, there's no cost at all! You just need to return the books.” Well, that at least is a refreshing change of pace. You shift through your pile, spreading them all out in front of you and rubbing your chin. You've got the Metal Codex, 'Great Artifacts of Ancient Hiacia', the 'Beginner's Guide to the Elements: Nature Edition', 'The Serpent and The Staff', and 'The War for The Pass: A Simple History'.

understanding with Fulvia, Chryssa, and Profectus; Darzi absolutely accepts them even if they're ancient, a little bit insane, or not quite totally a "person" (Chryssa). In fact in Chryssa's case, Darzi has been helping her get out of her shell and through her psychological barriers to become a normal-ish person instead of an emotionless genetically engineered war machine. All ya'all Waifuers have Darzi to thank for adorable, affectionate cute Chryssa. It certainly would have been entirely impossible if not her. Even further, she's already proven her loyalty, and we definitely earned it after healing her scars. For Christ's sake, she flat out lied to her liege-lord, the freaking Shah to keep our sorry hides safe. Would some random monk shmuck we *might* pick up do that to Varistha? Next, sanity: Chryssa's been having conversations with Ricky, Fulvia is an unspeakably old, inhuman supercomputer, and Mortia is a Rhynian swamp witch who's only friends for twenty solid years were Fluffy the twelve foot lizard-bear or Scales the mutant Gator-Pirahna, and who technically doesn't even belong in our reality. Oh, don't forget about us. Our brain just opened up a Five Guys and business is booming. So would you want to leave Profectus the sycophant Elf or Mr. Random Water Monk as our sanity check once our "Resist Eldritch Influence" rolls fail? No thank you. I'd like to have someone with an actual spine to hold down the mental fort. Lastly, those issues in the past? The PTSD

and body image issues? We're just about past that. We've healed her scars, and she's keeping the ones on her arms as a reminder of those events and to be stronger in the future for herself and her friends. So in conclusion, Darzi is a loyal, brave, determined asset who can let us Jew harder, take hits better, and has made our party happier. Letting her go would be an incredible waste and one of the worst decisions yet in the entire quest.
I'm already writing up what I think is a pretty good persuasive argument, and dice willing, it'll win her back with some good/mediocre rolls. I'm also the guy who wrote the "Profectus, Calm Your Tits!" write-in and the Chryssa analysis, so I think I know what I'm doing. Dude. Bodyweight exercises Anon. Don't be a glorified biological forklift. Ascend to the glorious sleek Simian perfection of your ancestors. Attain the endurance that conquered the Himalayas, the speed that caught the great Wild Bisons, and the endurance that earned the respect of wolves, and the fear of titanic Mammoths.

You push the metal codex and 'The Serpent and The Staff' towards the librarian. “I think I'll take these two.” The Librarian nods, scooping up the other three and stacking them atop a pile of books behind her. “All our books our cataloged, and the Varistha sees most of what goes on around here. I trust you'll return them before you leave.” You nod. “No date that I need them back by?” She shakes her head. “No, just so long as you don't run off across the country with them we won't nag you about it.” Huh, those demands aren't too stringent. You'll need to return the books if you decide to run off to kill Chrys' husband or visit El-Amin, but other than that they're yours.

You tuck the books into your cloak and whip around. Chrys and Profectus are putting their various books away. Chrys has tucked two books into her pack, while Profectus only has the one. He always has been the lazier of your two apprentices. Finally they seem to take notice of you, Chryssa smiling just slightly when she sees you and Profectus waving cheerily. They join you as you head for the door, Profectus speaking. “Shit, sorry. How long have you been here?” You shrug your shoulders. “Not long, I merely stopped in to browse and ended up making a few good finds. What about you two?” Profectus glances to Chrys, who speaks. “I have been here since shortly after breakfast ended, studying two books on Earth magic. Profectus arrived shortly after I did and spent most of his time complaining about his inability to read Samjan script.”

Profectus pouts. “I did other things! Once I finally found a book in civilized script I learned several interesting methods to meditate on fire magic that I intend to take advantage of tonight.” He nods his head firmly, folding his arms in front of his chest. Chrys smirks, but instead of responding turns her attention to you. “Are you going to the central courtyard? Dinner is being hosted there tonight.” You respond with a shrug. “I suppose so, I'm supposed to meet up with Sister Balik afterwards at the inn for drinks.” Perhaps it's merely your imagination, but Chrys' eyes seem to go just slightly wide. She blurts out. “We will join you, then. Won't we Prof?” He looks at her confused. “I hadn't planned on it, I have meditating to do.”

She stares at him blankly for a moment before turning her attention once more towards you. “Well, I will join you regardless. I had no plans tonight anyway.”

>That's fine, she can come along.
>Well, you should probably ask Sister Balik about it...
>You didn't really plan on anyone else tagging along, sorry.

I'm not just lifting weights anon, I run every day and I have my own swimming pool so I swim every day. It's just that I don't have a barbell(which is what I really want), I recently got this pullup tower that also lets me do dips and I am really loving that.

What are the odds of Chrys wanting to learn how to play the oud?
Seems legit

You tap your chin contemplatively. “Well, I'm not sure. Balik invited me to drinks, not the other way around. Thus, it wouldn't really seem proper to invite someone else without consulting her beforehand.” Chrys frowns just slightly. “Very well, I trust you will do so on my behalf?” You nod. “Of course, I'll contact you via the brooches with her answer.” She doesn't seem entirely happy with this answer, but she doesn't raise issue with it. The rest of the walk to the central courtyard is mostly quiet, but it's not a very long walk.

Once you reach the courtyard you find it already packed with food, one long table stacked high with plate upon plate of food. Roasted lamb, chicken, and pork seem to be the focus of tonight's meal. You note pita and humus scattered around the table for those with lighter appetites. A massive tray of baklava sits at one end, large chunks of it already missing. The smell of roasted nuts, honey, and freshly baked pastry bread is enough to set your mouth to watering. You count eight bottles of wine opened, some of them heating above a small fire. There is also a massive barrel of beer sitting on the ground with the cover taken off, mugs sitting near-by for anyone to help themselves.

You load up your plate with lamb, various vegetables and fruits, as well as a generous helping of baklava. You also pour yourself a cup of wine. Profectus simply grabs a bear mug and fills it to the brim with a rich, spiced red. He seems to be abstaining from food, for now at least. Chrys has loaded up a plate heavy with pork and chicken, as well as vegetables. She fills a mug with beer before joining you. There aren't any proper tables, most of the monks are simply scattered around on the ground. Your party joins them on the floor.

Skull Kid filters in shortly, and sets about fixing a plate. Mortia is close on his heels and Darzi follows a short while later. That only leaves Fulvia, but you can't really recall seeing her today. She is incapable of eating anyway, so it's not like she's really missing much. You wave the three over once they seem to be more or less finished loading up their plates and they pick their way through the crowd to join your group, Skull Kid plopping down directly across from you. “So, did you end up messing with those two or did you change your mind after all?” You glance around momentarily, you don't see Aziz and Kaur anyway.

>Admit that you messed with them, though you probably shouldn't of.
>Lie, say you changed your mind afterall and visited with the Varistha.
>Tell them you messed with them, and don't regret it.

Got a full view of sister Kaur's generous assets, so yes I would count it as a win.
