Well, you were mainly watching it to see Jack do his thing, but currently he was being cunningly sneaky, or sneakily cunning as his Jester stuck to the city, generally keeping out of sight as he tried to track down the Hi-Nu. It was a smart play, but it just wasn't very... theatrical.

Well, nobody was perfect.

"Aw, that's no fun." Amy pouted. "I was expecting him to go bursting out of the city and go POW WHAM on that Hi Nu!"

"A frontal attack against a funnel user is practically suicide." Jake shakes his head. "He's making the right play, here."

"I agree." Lucina nods. "But, to be honest, I'm actually finding the other fight to be more interesting."

"Yep. Whoever is piloting that Zaku is kicking ass!" Mac laughs.

Indeed, the Zaku F2 that David was piloting was actually holding itself rather well against Kenneth's Unicorn, even in its powered up NTD mode. Sure, the Unicorn's beam magnum was powerful, as evidenced by the fact it was literally shooting the entire colony apart, but it had the fire rate of a glacier, meaning it was easy for a speedster like David's Zaku to dodge. The Zaku meanwhile bombarded the Unicorn with a rain of missiles and dual hyper bazookas, forcing the Unicorn on the defensive. The Zaku tossed its spent hyper bazookas at the Unicorn. While the Unicorn easily batted them aside, it left itself open to a quick punch-punch-kick combo from the Zaku, knocking it even further off balance.

You frown. Kenneth was really squandering the NTD's full potential. While it did boost the Unicorn's defensive and offensive capabilities, it's main function was to shut down psycommu weapons as well as vastly increase control sensitivity. Then again, David's loadout seemed to be tailor made to counter the Unicorn, mostly consisting of powerful, but low tech physical weaponry.

The Zaku then kept up the pressure, drawing two hip mounted assault shotguns and unloading shell after shell into the Unicorn, causing its psychoframe armor to crack and fracture.

Unfortunately, it seemed as if Kenneth had had enough. Copying David, the Unicorn slings its shield at the Zaku, striking it directly in the head and smashing its mono-optic. Caught off guard, the Zaku flailed wildly as David attempted to regain his bearings, but Kenneth was not about to let him do that. The Unicorn closed in with dual beam sabers and sliced the Zaku to pieces before recovering its beam magnum and vaporizing what was left in a rather brutal coup de grace.

"Jesus, that's harsh." Mac frowned.

"That was completely unnecessary." Lucina agreed.

"HE KILLED IT!" Amy cried.

"Typical Kenneth." Karen sighed.
Even you had to agree that was particularly harsh. You then turned your attention back to Jack's fight, and saw that he had already engaged Hi-Nu. Apparently, he was using his own Jester as bait for the funnels while his Balls ambushed the Hi-Nu itself. Whether it was the Gunpla's construction, or Jack's rapidly improving skill, the Jester effortlessly dodged the flurry of beam shots the funnels were throwing at him, ducking and weaving and even doing a rather theatrical combat roll. Finally, the Balls close into lethal range and demolish the Hi-Nu in a hail of panzerfaust rounds. Those weapons were always super nasty.

"Yes!" You grin. "It's just him and Kenneth now!"

However, suddenly, the entire table rumbles as a MOTHERFUCKING NEO ZEONG emerges from the center, Kenneth's Unicorn plugged into the "cockpit".

Immediately, the entire crowd goes into a uproar, mostly in confusion about what was happening. You see the school officials quickly huddling together while the Judge blows a whistle. The words FIGHTERS PLEASE STANDBY appear of the battle table as the Judge joins the school officials.

Just what the hell was going on?

You are JACK FOULKE, and you were facing a fucking NEO ZEONG. You were left wondering just how the hell Kenneth managed to get that thing in when the words FIGHTERS PLEASE STANDBY appeared on your HUD, meaning the fight was put on hold for now. Good. Maybe they'll disqualify Kenneth's cheating ass.

The entire gym is silent as the officials deliberate. Finally, they all nod in agreement and the Judge walks over to you.

"I'm not gonna lie, kid, this is a real shit show." The Judge sighs. "They fight will continue."

"What?!" You blink. "There's no way this is fair!"

"Sorry kid, the school's head honchos don't want to stop the fight. Don't want to look bad in front of all these people." The Judge rolls his eyes. "But I managed to get a concession out of them. They'll allow you to bring two of your teammates to assist you, if desire."

"Huh." You blink.

"But hey, at least there's a silver lining to this." The Judge grins. "It'll be a memorable fight if you win! This is classic David and Goliath stuff right here! I mean, imagine what will happen if you can solo this guy!"

Karen is a must and I'm leaning towards Lucina or Jake.

Lucina due to a decent Balance speed and armor.

Jake due to conventional Dakka.

I rather not use Char or Mac due to mac doesn't seem like a good idea to deal with the tentacles and using Char is a bit unfair and I rather not rely on her.

Neo Zeong comes with the huge disadvantage.

Namely that half of it's size is giant volatile fuel cylinders that only have I-Fields as protection.

The Jesta also comes with a shoulder shield loaded up with missile grenade thingamabobs if I'm not mistaken, so I'm pretty sure we can disable it just by fucking those up.

It's got a lot of beam weapons, but we have too many trump cards that can fuck it up. On top of that, the Unicorn wasn't designed to be at the center of the Neo Zeong, so there might be a chance it can't operate all of the weapons properly.

Also Kenneth's a no-skill retard so he'll probably try to beamspam us without having any idea on how to actually use this thing to full potential.

The Jester can take it. We've got enough ballistic and explosive weapons to get past the I-Field and Trans-Am as a fallback. We just have to aim at the Unicorn itself, which is completely exposed, and it'll go down hard. Unless it has the Psyco-Shard Generator, in which case all our ammo and capacitors will self-destruct. Then the only ones who could take it would be Karen and Lucina, having solid blade weapons. I'm really hoping Kenneth isn't smart enough to figure out how to make a working Psyco-Shard Generator.

I have to leave, since I've got a class starting soon, but can I ask before I go that we give some smack talk to Kenneth along the lines of how he can't expect to actually go anyplace in the World Tournament? He's not going to be able to cheat like this outside of the school, he just doesn't have the infrastructure for it. Unless he can fight on his own merits he's just going to get embarrassed.

Of course, that last line would be more biting if we were soloing him. I'm kind of disappointed we're bringing in backup. How are we going to prove we're ready for the tournament if we can only win when we fight with a team?

A minute or two later, Karen and Jake are both ushered onto the battle floor, the Gunpla out and ready to go.

"The Judge told us what's going on." Karen said. "We'll gladly help you take Kenneth down."

"I just wanted to see if this thing was as tough as everybody says." Jake says simply.

"Thanks, guys." You grin.

"ATTENTION AUDIENCE." The Judge bellows. "Fighter Jack Foulke as decided to accept a concession order to continue the battle! Battle will resume in ONE MINUTE!"

You can hear lots of murmurs in the crowd. None of them have seen anything like this before, and you could feel a sort of tension, or energy building up in the room as they wondered what would happen next.

"Okay, we have time for a quick plan." Karen said. "Me and Jack will have to engage the Neo Zeong up close and try to draw its attention away from Jake. Jake, how do you think your cannons will fare from long range?"

"Well, they'll definitely reach." Jake says. "But since they're ballistic, their penetrating power drops sharply the farther the shells have to go. I see some good vantage spots, though. That cliff up there gives me perfect line of fire. I can just shoot at him directly without having to rely on indirect. Of course, if I can see him, he can see me. Or, I can set up in the city. There's a lot more cover, and it's much closer, but it will be harder for me to find a good firing angle. Or, I can set up in the field in between the cliff and city. Not much cover, but there's enough space for me to maneuver as I shoot."

GUNPLA FIGHT BEGIN

No sooner than the buzzer goes off that you have to dive to the ground to dodge a flurry of beam shots from the Neo Zeong. Good thing you were already expecting Kenneth to play dirty. You drop down to the city below as the Neo Zeong continues to fire beams indiscriminately. At least he couldn't draw a visual on you.

Meanwhile, Karen's Overflag drops down from the sky. You see the Neo Zeong's head crane upwards and it fires. The mega particle beams are easy enough to dodge, but the smaller beam cannons are too many. Karen manages to deflect the ones headed her way, but the remaining beams crisscross into an impenetrable fence of energy. Karen likewise drops down into the the relative safety of the city.

"That's some serious weight of fire." She sighs.

"Yeah. My anti beam chaff can stop the small beams, but I'm not sure how it'll handle the mega cannons."

"Guys, he hasn't seen me yet." Jake says. "I got a shot. You want me to use cannons or rockets?"

Well, the cannons would definitely put a dent in the Neo Zeong, but the rockets would be a huge distraction, as Kenneth would probably have to devote a lot of firepower to intercept those, which could give you and Karen a chance to get close...

Suddenly, there's a loud whine as the TUSKER's MLRS pods unleash Hell. Hundreds of rockets rise in the air, headed straight for the Neo Zeong. The massive mobile armor detects the incoming projectiles and turns to face them, firing beams and causing multiple midair explosions as numerous rockets are intercepted. However, the bombardment achieves its objective in taking its attention off of you.

"Go!" You yell at Karen as you engage your boosters. You shoot off into the air as your Balls follow.

With that, Karen makes a beeline for the Unicorn. However, Kenneth detects her approach and sends two of the Neo Zeong's massive arms to intercept her. The Overflag bobs and weaves as the massive arms swing at her like clubs, trying to snatch her from the air, but it gives you an opportunity to strike.

For such large things, those arms were way faster than you thought they were. It takes almost all of your reflex and skill to dodge the arms, which look like freaking freight trains from your perspective. One arm looks it's about to hit and and you manage to deflect the blow with your chobham shield. Your entire Gunpla shudders and damage warnings for your left arm whine. You boost forward, staying ahead of the Neo Zeong's other arms and give a solid kick to the one holding Karen in place, loosening its grip on her leg enough that she can slip out.

"Incoming!" Jake yells.

You literally see the twin shells fly past your screen and strike the Unicorn directly in the face. There's a loud mechanical wail as the Neo Zeong literally spins out before crashing on the ground.

"Is... is it dead?" You blink.

"I don't know. Maybe we should just shoot it more, just to be sure." Karen says.

"That's a good idea." You agree.

However, suddenly, the entire Neo Zeong begins to glow an ominous red. You realize that the entire damn thing was equipped with NTD! However, even worse, you see two shapes rise up. The Unicorn, its face a mangled mess, rises from the fallen Neo Zeong, and summons three funnel shields from its Full Armor pack.

Meanwhile, the now pilotless Neo Zeong ALSO rises, and you realize that he essentially turned the thing into a giant funnel!

Instantly, your Jester and the Balls glow a bright red. The cackling joker skull mask clamps into place and the Jester blitzes forward. The Unicorn hesitates for a second, as if Kenneth was caught off guard by your Trans Am, but eventually the Unicorn charges forward as well. Even he knew he couldn't outrun a Trans Am suit in a straight race.

Meanwhile, the Neo Zeong's Psychoshard activates, but it's obviously not at full capacity due to the damage you inflicted on it earlier. About a quarter of the ring is missing, and it flickers on and off intermittently.

However, you notice the temperature warnings in your weapons rising sharply. They weren't at critical levels yet, but it might be a problem later.
