Welcome ladies and gentlemen to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest! An edition where my wrist isn’t sprained after writing too much!

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest we handled a hostage situation, Demon Dutchess style! Saving all but one person while throwing the rest of the Miyian Terrorist group into the dungeon below! The good news is that most of the Miyians we captured are conscious, so we can... talk to them later. But according to the Gemelli pair of the Miyian group, they were given resources from the university itself...

But now we’re onto bigger fish! The meeting of how to handle the future of Succubus kind and Old TO itself! Onto the meeting!

For information on characters and old threads:

The Succubus Leaders are all in their chairs within the meeting hall, the day being in it’s infancy as your chefs- er, chef brings out the breakfast for everyone inside of the meeting room. Thankfully the meeting room wasn’t that damaged, only a toppled statue of Dio, but unfortunately some of the remaining pictures of the previous castle lords still remain on the brick walls, some of them you tried to cover up with the drapes in the room. There is no natural light inside of the room, and the only light source comes from both candle light and magically conjured light balls you have scattered amongst the room. Sitting at the head of the long table, you can see most of the leaders have attended today. Mary and Wendy Subota are sitting next to one another, Fredika seems to be back in full form, Rebecca is here albeit with an ice pack on her head, both Lita and Aria are here bickering with each other as Lita tries to draw sketches, Arum is also here as well cleaning her fingernails with a knife, and standing in for the Aide leader Ishtar is once again the Paladin Teresa.

“Oh dear... this room needs so much redecorating...” Teresa says with a worried sigh.

Arum just stares at Teresa with a sour face for several seconds. “How can you tell with your eyes closed all the time?”

“I agree with the room. Our first order of business should be approving a round table.” Fredika solemnly says.

“...Mother says you *always* used to say that at every meeting.” Mary replies to Fredika.

“And what’s wrong with a round table?” Fredika asks.

“Nothing, except when you bring it up into every meeting.” Wendy replies.

“Fredika’s obsession with round objects! Belkarian tradition or perversity in disguise!?” Aria says writing down something on a notepad.

“YOU’RE NOT GOING TO MAKE THAT A HEADLINE!” both Aria and Fredika roar at her.

You wonder if nearly every meeting is going to be like this from now on.

A) Bring up the defense issue first
B) Bring up the expansion issue first, that is expanding the territory the Succubi control in Fort Hope
C) Beck nor any Miyian official is here even though you send out at least three requests. This can’t be overlooked, this needs to be the first topic of discussion.
D) Other

(DON’T SAY SOMETHING LIKE “A, THEN B”. ONE AT A TIME PLEASE UNLESS YOU WANT THE POSTS TO BE INCREDIBLY LONG)

Sorry for the delays for the past two weeks. First week I couldn't think of anything/not enough inspiration, second week I kinda threw out my hand after typing a few dozen pages of a few pet projects to the point where I needed a hand brace.

This has to be on everyone's minds. It would be good to bring it up first.

“Enough about round tables and inner decor! We have more important things to worry about!” you say pointing over to the empty chair to where the Miyian representative was supposed to sit. “Three times, *three times* I have asked Beck to come a meeting involving all the Succubi Leaders and the future of Fort Hope, and she didn’t even sent a reply to any of them!”

“Maybe they requests were lost in the mail?” Teresa asks.

“They weren’t lost. She definitely got them.” Arum says continuing to pick her nails.

“This isn’t only insulting to me, but insulting to nearly all of the Succubi currently living in Old TO! Something needs to be done about this!” you protest.

“I have to agree with this. Beck’s blatant disregard for the meetings is nothing but a slap to the face for all of us.” Mary admits. “Something needs to be done.”

“I don’t think you’ll find a single person in this room who’d disagree with that. There’s no way we can rule Old TO as a unified whole unless we get the cooperation of Beck.” Aria states.

“We have options with her at least. The least intrusive step would be just politely asking her to come to a future meeting.” Teresa replies.

“Which will do exactly nothing. I propose imposing sanctions on the Miyian quarters and their university.” Arum replies, still focusing on her fingernails.

“Arum! We just resumed the flow of resources back to the underpoverished Miyian communities, and you want us to cut off the resources to them again!?” Teresa says in both shock and anger.

“It’d send Beck a clear message that these meetings are not just for show. I don’t care what she’s working on, as the importance of the Succubi race takes priority.” Arum replies.

“The most extreme thing we can do to Beck is declare her persona non grata.” Fredika adds, cutting into her morning steak. “We refuse to acknowledge any authority she may have and open up a spot for an Miyian willing to take it.”

“So we could rule over the ruins on top of a ruined city? Brilliant!” Aria replies, referring to the competition fighting that’d occur for a Miyian to grab the spot.

“We may refuse to acknowledge her authority, but there are many Miyians who’d still accept her. I fear that by doing such an extreme act we’d possibly incite riots amongst the Miyian populace.” Wendy replies.

“We can’t do nothing. I have evidence that Beck has not only funded terrorists to try and gain the title of Dutchess of Old TO, but she also used the Black Flame Hunter and magictech soldiers in the fight with Dio. One of you must’ve noticed them.” you say to everyone in the room.

“I did, and I’m afraid I’m still not convinced.” Teresa replies.

“Pardon?” you ask.

“In order to convict Beck, we’d need tangible evidence of this. So far all we have is the testimony of a single Gemelli who has a hunch with no hard evidence and an unconscious gang leader.” Teresa replies.

“And the Black Flame Hunter’s actions? Along with his footsoldiers?” you ask.

“Doesn’t rule out the possibility that there may be mortal mad scientists or Sloth Demons at work here. For all we know he could’ve just paid any one of those two in order to get the soldiers he needed.” Teresa replies.

A) Politely send another request to Beck to reply back ASAP
B) Same as above, but mention threat of economic sanctions if she doesn’t cooperate.
C) Immediately begin the sanctions
D) Persona non gata, if she doesn’t want to be a part of this group, fine.

E) We need to out a count title for the Miyan Territory, which is a separate title from the University herself. Give it to her most obvious political enemy. Since the title is technically a lower rank than her own, she can't challenge for it anyway.
>>
>>34758136
We want to remain popular with most people in this, so cutting off aid isn't the best idea. Starting a war isn't either, and non-grata makes this personal.

Since Beck hasn't actually given any response, we can assume he doesn't want the job. We should meet with the two Miyian lieutenants who are willing to listen to us about a reasonable person who can at least come to council meetings.

Beyond that, cut Beck out of the loop. If he didn't want to help take Old T.O. or even bother to come to the meeting, don't inform him.
>>
>>34758136
I think we should combine my previous post >>34758445 with >>34758295 .

We also may want to attempt some sort of scrying or tracing of the being who contacted us in our dreams the night before we fought Dio and the Draugr.

That would be either Solace in Numbers or Lacosta? Frankly we don't want any of beck's cronies in the position anyway.

Pretty much.

Another thing I thought of, is there any reason why we shouldn't introduce the various Succubi clan leaders to the queens who haven't been introduced already, in a warded area of course.

“Since Beck isn’t giving us any sort of reply, we can assume that she doesn’t want the job. However at the same time doing anything too extreme will alienate us with the rest of the Miyian population and that’s the last thing we want. I propose I create a new rank just under the ranking of Beck, but still having most of the power. If Beck wants to be involved in politics, then she’ll be forced to come to the meetings.” you reply.

“Good idea. Beck will either be forced to go along with the idea or be seen as openly rebelling. We win either way.” Lita says with a smile on her face.

“A case like this was brought to our attention by one of our own members. We have a few candidates lined up for the spot, one’s that don’t feel any animosity towards us Okarians.” Wendy adds.

“Isn’t that just convenient.” Fredika replies.

Wendy just looks flatly at Fredika. “Inquiry, are you implying anything Fredika.”

“Yes, I’m saying is awfully convenient that you already have several people ‘lined up’ for this sort of job. No offense, but how can we trust anyone the Okarian house reccommends with the current blood between the Okarians and Miyians.” Fredika bluntly states. “Don’t try to cover it up either, I know exactly how many mercenary forces are deployed to both sides.”

Great, now you need to defuse this...

“The second issue I wished to bring up is our military structure, specifically how to defend Old TO and Edmonton.” you reply.

“If there is one blessing about Luna’s ‘surprise’ it’s that she’s anchored in places we can easily find her at for the time being. We’re working on heavy duty wards to make sure the Pride Demon’s won’t be able to teleport enemy forces into our cities.” Wendy replies.

“Completely ignoring the massive army to the North of us.” Fredika replies.

“Which I was going to bring up. If we want to defend Old TO and solve some overpopulation problems, we’re going to need to expand our territory. This will also give us a buffer between any army.” you reply.

“And get rid of Pride Demon strongholds in the immediate surrounding area.” Teresa replies.

“Expanding is of critical importance yes, but we’ll need to decide how to split and form this.” Fredika replies. “I’m part of the Fighter’s Guild, so while I could possibly convince the members of the Guild to give a discount for local government in exchange for food and lodging places, I’m not sure I’d be able give a large outstanding army. I could make an official request to Belkarians, but not all of them are soldiers of fortune, they’re just Succubi who have a knack for fighting.”

“Says you. I’ve been preparing for this for *decades*. Dutchess Brooklyn, put *me* in charge of the army.” Rebecca pleads.

“Rebecca such a thing is foolishness and you know it.” Wendy snaps at her. “We’re not putting all the power of the military in anyone’s hands aside from the current ruler of Old TO and Edmonton.”

“As the temporary head of the faction with the largest military force, I am inclined to agree.” Teresa replies. “Part of the problem of the Old World’s military was that the military was one branch and was simply too ripe for coups. I propose we each give a tithe to the Dutchess for her own forces while each of us maintains our own standing army in some way, shape, or form.”

Aria and Lita look a bit pained as they hear this. “We may need some support. Many of our activities are focused on scouting and information gathering. We Gemelli’s haven’t been on the forefront of any major offensive for centuries.”

“I’m too busy running the guild to have time for my own standing army. Dutchess, may I have permission to delegate such tasks such as a standing army to my subordinates?”

“There’s also the issue of supply lines I’m worried about. Do we use the mortal armies that Dio left behind in Fort Hope?” Teresa asks.

“Many Succubi probably won’t want to risk their necks so casually either, so we may have to sweeten the deal of military enlistment.” Arum adds.

“Or just make a draft.” Mary bluntly states.

(How do you reply to these ideas?)
>>
>>34760123
"One of the problems with a feudal power structure is that its inherently inefficient and I'd basically completely dependent on the leaders for my military force. I trust no one is particularly interested in finding out what Beck would do with that kind of power? At the same time, the possibility of coups is a good point. My proposal is that we have a single central army, Perhaps under Teresa, as her status as Pamille's paladin makes her basically politically neutral. In addition, each clan will maintain combat formations equivalent to the old American national guard which will be placed under my command during wartime, though they will maintian a distinct command structure which will be for the forseeable future.

Speaking of potential military threats, and potential military boons, there are the Vampires. Should they be willing to cooperate with us, we would gain not insubstantial military power."
>>

>I propose we each give a tithe to the Dutchess for her own forces while each of us maintains our own standing army in some way, shape, or form.”
"An interesting idea, but this is something that requires much more thought and discussion that we can devote to it now, though I would like to see all the different clans specialising in their own areas of expertise and yet working alongside each other, to help cover any weaknesses and provide advantages, such a fighting force would be quite a sight. If you could all start sketching up rough plans on how you would handle you forces and work alongside your fellow clans forces, and can bring them to me for review and discussion that would be good.

Supply lines are going to be something of a weakpoint for us until we can strengthen our powerbase and trade routes, what is the currrent situation of the mortal armies that Dio left behind, and what are your thoughts on how to best use them, or how to not use them?

A good point Arum, Ideally we would have succubi supporting and strengthening regular armed forces and not comprise them solely of succubi, and an enlistment or commission in our military should not be a bad thing, but something many can look forward to or aspire for, if any of you have ideas to help with that, let's hear them.

Mary, let's keep the idea of a draft as a backup plan for worst case scenarios, right now that would only help destroy the peace and unity we've brought to all our clans."

> "We lack the strength the Old-World armies did, and they couldn't stop the combined might of the Pride Demons. We will need to cooperate with the other races, including humans, around us and not forget the effect Wrath or other Lust aetherics could have on our strength.

A general army that can cover all bases, combined with small units of specialists from each clan for covert operations should be perfect. For this.

General operations should be kept to small forces that can hit enemy supply lines quickly and effectively, scouts to track enemy movements, and a large force to respond to anything that has over-committed into our territory.

Lines of supply will be a major issue as well, one of the biggest things. While we'll be importing some of our food from other nations, we most likely will have to send troops and supplies in return."

“Both military systems have their flaws. The Old World may have the problem of a centralized military, but the feudal system had the problem of inefficiency. The only reason the Pride Demons could tolerate such crushing inefficiency is because of their supernatural prowess when it came to matters of governance.” you reply.

“Then do you have a plan of how to handle this?” Fredika asks.

“I do. We take what the Church of Celestia does with their groups.” you reply.

Arum stops cleaning her nails to look at you blankly. “What?”

“A large general army is maintained between each of us, mainly for general defense, policing, and times of crisis. Meanwhile we’ll keep a separate mobile elite corp of highly trained Succubi who will be used for various high profile tasks.” you reply. “Celestia is right in one regard that highly trained individuals can go through a force many times their size. We can use them to harass and soften up the enemy while our big hammer can go in for the kill once we’re ready to take it.”

“So... State sponsored adventurer groups?” Rebecca asks.

“I’d probably wouldn’t use the term adventurer and moreso elite soldier.” you reply.

“...You know I really enjoy this idea! This would not only let us maintain a powerful army, but also allow us to export culture to other places in the world! We could do things on both a military and political front.” Teresa adds.

1. Standing army answering to us
2. Territorial troops maintained by clan leaders/other figures
3. Elite group you mentioned.
>>
>>34761364
This. Plus, the elite corps wouldn't be only succubi presumably.
>>

>>
>>34761364
That was what we compromised on. I think Op might have mentioned that, but not in a very clear way.
>>
>>34761364
Maybe the territorial group could be more of a national guard style of affair? They get training and defend their homes, get some money and slight benefits as long as they serve.
>>34761389
Maybe, for now. It's not like we have definite alliances with any other group, but I think including the possibility of Asurian shock troops and the like if we ever have access to them could be quite useful.
>>
>>34761470
I think we explicitly used the American national guard as a model.

“With you getting an army under your direct control as well?” Aria asks.

“Naturally. I’ll have my knights as my own elite force as well.” you reply. “As for the enlistment bonuses, we can certainly do something akin to that.”

“Sounds fine to me.” Rebecca replies.

“I’d suggest that each and every one of us have our own elite force as well, and may I please delegate the issue of a standing army to my subordinates, I got enough with ruling the Fighter’s Guild and Belkarian race.” Fredika replies.

“Yes, that’s fine Fredika.” you reply.

“Furthermore if you want me to evaluate any possible state funded adventurer group, then send them to me. I’ll make sure they met certain standards.” Fredika replies.

“And me.” Rebecca replies.

“Is there any criteria you want with the groups?” Fredika asks.

“So long as they’re willing to work for us and have no qualms about working with others, none.” you reply.

“Very well, I’ll start spreading the word out about recruitment as soon as we’re done with the meeting.” Lita and Aria reply.

(Anything else to wish to mention on this topic? Or do you want to move onto another one)
>>
>>34761807
I thought we very specifically didn't want them having their own elite force.
>>
>>34761807

>>
>>34761841

>>

The opposite of what we wanted...
>>
>>34761914

They meant at least one for themselves
>>
>>34761841
Yes. Here's how the military works:
National forces/ working for us:
Standing army
Elite Group
Working for the clan leaders
1. Large numbers of weekend warriors.

This way, we avoid the dangers of a central structure, without having to require the leaders assistance for day to day military operations.
>>
>>34761807
>>34761841
>>34761894
This, standing reserve and national guard for clans, elite forces under control of the military.

We also should quickly bring up Fort Hope and using the military there as our own after rooting out any loyalists to the Pride Demons.

Finally, it'd be nice to bring up the creation of a guild of entertainers and companions as inspired by Mina's previous work. It would give humans a guaranteed profession, training in the sciences among other things, and they would also improve the amount of aether succubi have access to.
>>
>>34761936
If we feel it'd be politically necessary, it's fine. But the main military should have the bulk of the special forces. It's completely understandable they'd want their own guard and special forces group, but as long as the large majority is under the combined military, it'd work just fine.
>>
>>34761970
>>34761975

I think the concern was who should control the elite group. The Leaders don't want all the power in one hand, as that would grant them too much influence and power. They figure that by each one having at least one elite groups, things can flow much more smoothly in terms of armies.
>>
>>34762111
Fine, as long as 80+ % of them work for us.
>>
>>34762111
That is a very good point. We need those tacticians who have the time to take command of the army. Within reason, this would be the Church, most likely Rebecca, and one other group if not more.

I doubt they'd agree to it all being directly under us, and that's reasonable. We're the leader of Old T.O. and will most likely be part of the group leading the army, but we wont be the super-duper head.
>>
>>34762111
>I think the concern was who should control the elite group.
Right, and us players want the maximum possible control in our hands.
>>
I believe I miscommunicated. The main thing the leaders technically want is something akin to their own knight group. Well technically you can order the knights, the knights will typically follow the orders of their respective Lord (whomever that may be).

Technically your orders can still overwrite nearly all of them, but it's generally more polite to go down the chain in order than skipping a bunch of steps.
>>
>>34762366
Oh, that's all they want? Yeah, personal guards, of course.
>>
>>34762366
Okay, fine. As long as the vast majority of special forces are under our direct command.
>>
>>34762366
Hold on, what was stopping them from having their own knights before?
>>
>>34762418

Officially? The Pride Demons.

“The next order of business has to do with the vampires that exist beneath the city.” you reply.

“Ugh...” Arum sighs as she gives a small facepalm.

“What’s the matter Arum?” Aria asks.

“Can’t we get rid of them finally? The Pride Demon’s didn’t get rid of them because of a deal they bartered with them in order to keep us busy, and in exchange they’d give them permission to feed on the mortal populace above.” Arum replies.

“Only they didn’t bother stopping any of their other activities. We *still* have outbreaks of low-blooded Vampirism throughout the city which we were responsible for clean up and disposal of.” Teresa states. “The Vampires that actually spread through a simple bite and crave blood with a single-minded drive?”

“You mean the Pride Demons didn’t clean it up?” you ask.

“Unless it was an epidemic and it didn’t appear in their monthly finance reports, they didn’t care.” Teresa ways off.

“They didn’t like Succubi being in change during the Old World and they certainly don’t us being in charge right now. Succubi and Vampires have been in stiff competition with each other for being declared the noble race of the Lust Demons for time immemorial.” Wendy replies.

“You know what problems existed with them in the Old World?” you ask.

“We were all abducted when we were small kids in order to blackmail our mother.” Mary replies.

“Ah.” you reply.

“Bloodsucking leeches, all of them.” Arum replies.

“Well... Not all of them. We do have some vampiric reporters.” Aria replies.

“They’re not that bad as people, they even ask for permission to drink blood.” Lita replies.

“You know the noble vampires don’t like their kind. They call them ‘domesticated’ vampires.” Arum points out.

“I’m... also leery about damning an entire race because of the members which are corrupt.” Fredika replies.

(Anything you wish to ask/comment about?)
>>
>>34763154
"Then lets not damn the whole race. Lets invite them over for a chat, explain how outbreaks of the lessers are bad form, and how we really should become better friends, and bond over removing them.

If they're reasonable, they'll help us, integrate with society without causing problems, and we can only benefit.
>>
>>34763154
I recommend we do the following:
1. Set up a bloodblank. Frankly, the city needs a decent hospital anyway. Solves the feeding problem
2. Offer them substantial status in return for assisting us. After all, equality under the law and equal status is something the pride demons will never grant them.
3. Require them to cease certain activities.

Now, not every Vampire will be a pro accomidationist. Which is why we might need to assist in a regime change. Aria, Lita and Arum are in charge of finding a vampire that we can trust as far as we can throw him or her. If need be, we'll assist in a... change of management. Discretely of course.
>>
>>34763154
I'd still like to talk about using Fort Hope as a forward base, using it's army, and the guild of companions as lightly detailed >>34761975 .
>>
>>34763391
And I still say that the guild of companions is dumb.
>>
>>34763464
It's pretty corny, I'll agree. The bonuses I'm trying to give here are something to make humans more then a worthless under-class here, along with abolishing the slave trade. It nets humans an education, a steady income (companions aren't just for sex, many of them will be teachers, comedians, actors, and more), and gives them status. Allows everyone to grow.
>>
>>34763562
I think the idea of having humans directly compete in the area succubi are best at is a terrible idea. Have them work in area's succubi don't have an advantage in, like mundane science and paperwork.
>>
>>34763596

You still run into problems with the Ayarians, some of whom have the ability of precognition to help with paperwork and other matters.
>>
“I’m not going to damn entire race over a few idiots in charge. As far as I’m concerned this is just the Beck problem but just a bit older.” you reply. “Bloodbanks won’t work, am I correct?”

Teresa nods. “Vampires have very varied weaknesses, but the majority of them need fresh blood to regain their aether pools. Like us they don’t starve, but they can’t regain any aether unless they have fresh blood.”

“Fine, we’ll lighten up the deal then. They can only drink blood from those willing to give it. Any sort of involuntary blood drain would be akin to us taking aether against one’s will.” you reply.

“Dutchess, are you sure this is a good idea?” Arum asks.

“Vampires are *very* well known for their strength. If we can get them on our side, then that’d be a massive boon for us. Even their very implication would do wonders.” you reply.

“And for the vast majority of nobles who won’t go along with this plan because they want to be the ruling lords of these lands?” Arum asks.

“Same as Beck, find someone who’s willing to be their representative and ignore the rest who don’t.” you reply. “Would it be hard to deliver an invitation to them?”

Arum sighs, as if dreading the idea. “No, it wouldn’t. But then you’re *willingly* inviting Vampires into your castle.”

“Good point. We’ll just limit them to the main ballroom. Stupid place is half open to the elements anyways. Easy to go in, easy to go out.” you reply.

(Anything else you wish to ask about during the meeting?)
>>
>>34763677

"I'd like to end this session with an idea of mine as an...upgrade to the current system of enslavement of humans for aether. And more.

I think the creation of a guild to educate humans in the sciences, magic, and more could greatly benefit everyone, along with providing a more stable method of gaining aether. Humans are a necessary ally for us, not just because of our needs for aether, but because they make up a large group of the population. A group is only as strong as it's weakest member and I think it's time to give them enough resources and ingenuity to make a difference, along with giving them a chance at reasonable education and status."

well the issue here is, if its so easy that a random idea popping into our head can do it, why didnt they come up with it through the preceding centuries?
>>
>>34764185
Pride Demons would most likely not want the Vampires getting anything that would help their mobility.
>>
>>34764185
because vampire are too stuck up to think that way and the succubi never wanted to ally with them until now?
>>
>>34764205
i dont see how pride demons have anything to do with what the vampires do on their own, and obviously the vampires did have plenty of secret places to themselves

>>34764218
doesnt make sense at all, maybe some of the vampires wouldnt think of it, and maybe some of their clans dont have good magic, but none of them ever thinking of it? nope, that makes zero sense, they are people with different personalities so someone would have thought of it

adding to that, we already have confirmation that plenty of the vampires are much more open minded, its just their leaders who cause problems

>and the succubi never wanted to ally with them until now?
manipulating blood with magic doesn't seem like something that would be exclusive to succubi

all in all the most likely explanation is that the vamps are already doing this and are simply keeping it a secret so they have it as an advantage

“Yes we did read your proposition for that.” Teresa replies.

“I hate it! It spits on the face that everything our ancestors have accomplished!” Rebecca firmly states.

“Then what do you propose we do? Materialize supplies out of thin air? Spell reagents and mortal food don’t grow on trees Rebecca.” Arum states. “We need the trade.”

“Ah... That was a lot more productive than I thought it would be.” you say laying down in small private tub.

“Brooklyn I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss this. I mean Erika did originally predict the passing of the Draugr in Fort Hope.” Mina reminds you.

“I’m not denying that. I’m saying trying to prepare for anything without knowing what’s coming is impossible. Do you have any idea what to expect?” you ask. “...Wait is that damn Draugr coming back? Because this time I got an army to deal with that bastard.”

Erika shakes her head. “This is something that threatens all of Old TO and even Canada. ...Well... some of it. Some... hold on.” Erika lowers her head, concentrating as hard as she can. Everyone in the bathroom awaits with bated breath. Seconds tick on by as Erika furrows her brow, before finally a tickle of blood comes out of her nose.

“Erika stop it before you have a stroke.” you instruct her.

“I... I see many mortals living through the event, but not as many demons. In fact... I saw barely any demons...” Erika says, wiping the blood off her nose before using a hand to rub her forehead. “I’m sorry I take give any more details than that. “What? Why would Celestia try to attack here? General Articus’s soldiers are all over the cccciiiiii...” Mina’s words drag on as the gears click in her head. “Shimata!”

“Exactly. We booted them out. The only thing Celestia has to face now is an army that was designed to fight on a temporary basis, at best.” you reply.

humm. Do we know what tactics Celestina employ?

We will need a united front. First we will need to talk with other factions to get them on board. Also while beck is short of out right hostile to us we need to see if we can secure at least some support from her to defend OLD TO.

An idea that many would hate as we just liberated the city from pride demon control but we could try to see if any pride demons may be willing to help with the defense of old TO from the celestians, and to act as training instructors. Problem is who will their loyalty lie with afterwards and such. maybe an promise of neutrality, basically they promise to not screw us or their fellow pride demons. However if they do prove themselves i don't think many would want to jeopardize their new found standing or fame.

As for resources right now we are sort of up a creak with no paddle. Could try for long shot ask Myu about vault locations and see if any science lord vaults where unopened and try to see if we can either recruit anyone from it or salvage anything left; more likely case as their probably was a good reason they never opened.

We have one broken mecha and a location for a possible second one also from way back.

Gotta question: can we talk to Sister Lacosta? We were supposed to do that before the meeting with the leaders.

Alright, going to head to bed now. Will post in this thread again once I wake up in about eight hours from now

That seems like an argument to shut down any clever idea that anons come up with. Which is a terrible idea.
>>
>>34769635
without it the world doesnt make sense
>>
>>34769635
>>34769666
It's more of an indication that the idea wasn't that clever in the first place.
>>
>>34769666
And? It took 200 or more years for people to realize that putting gun powder in a bag would allow you to fire a canon faster. Stuff like this happens all the time.
>>
>>34764185
Most likely because frozen blood doesn't taste as good. Exactly the same reason why many succubi prefer to completely drain a human.
>>
>>34769705
it happens to people who have experience with the matter, not someone who heard about the issue for the first time in the same conversation

like sandact said, "its worth a shot"

it will probably be shot down by the vampires as not working or not working well enough to be viable
>>
>>34769727
that's not a sufficient drawback in this situation

they need aether to use magic, i dont think they would refuse the equivalent of bland food in that situation
>>
>>34769736
>it will probably be shot down by the vampires as not working or not working well enough to be viable
More likely, people with sufficiently powerful time control are rare, and vampires don't care enough about humans welbeing to hire someone like that, rather than just thralling some human schmucks.
>>
>>34769771
It's not just the wellbeing of humans on the line though, when vampires are in a tight spot, which is the issue now.
>>
>>34769771
>>34769788
maybe it tastes terrible like that cheap soul drain beverage does for succubi

if so, they would still use it if they were in a life or death situation though
>>
>>34769788
Right, but you'd need to either have a central bloodbank with a long lasting area timefreeze, which only Luna could do, or enchant the individual blood containers, which would probably be prohibitively expensive.
>>
>>34769846
No you wouldn't. There is no need for the blood to last forever, just getting it to stay fresh for a few days would be incredibly valuable to the vampires.
>>
>>34769885
And Luna is probably the only person in the city who could do it on a large scale. You seem to be taking that it can't work as a given, then coming up with justifications from there. Let the players be clever
>>
>>34769932
it could be a problem and challenge we give to Amanda to figure out
>>
>>34769950
>>34769932
why would succubi be better at this than the vampires themselves
>>
>>34769932
I love it when players are clever, but not when something that isn't clever is passed as if it is.

This working so easily doesn't make sense to me. It breaks suspension of disbelief.

If it does work it would have to have some very significant drawbacks, otherwise it's a no brainer the vampires would have been doing it already.
>>
>>34769981
Because they've been pounded into the dirt worse than the succubi. They don't have anyone near Luna's quality left. Remember, the knights of Nii are only slightly stronger than Brooklyn as individuals, and they didn't die when they attacked Vampire central. But they do consider going up against the Sutoba's suicide.
>>
>>34769981
I don't fucking know anon, how about you fucking ask the characters in the quest instead of meta bitching about it.

“Right, we’re going to need as much support as we can for this. Send out a request for the Vampires to meet with us, as well as a message to both Sister Lacosta of the Church of Pamille and your mother.” you instruct Nalika.

“...My mother?” Nalika asks skeptically.

“Who knows she may actually do something.” you wave off. “Now go do the following, I’ve got to change into my clothes for the day.

Nalika reports back to you a bit later. Fredika is already now taking steps to beef up security of Fort Hope along with letting the other leaders know of it. Shiva declined to help on the grounds of that her noodle art ‘masterpiece’ in the works couldn’t be disturbed.

Rather than sending a runner to meet up with you, sister Lacosta is the first one to personally meet up with you inside of the castle.

“I shouldn’t be disturbing you, am I?” a soft spoken woman behind you asks. Turning around, you can see a woman dressed in the robes of a nun, hiding nearly all of her bodily features including her hair. What you do see however is the soft, gentle brown face of a woman who’s brown eyes are currently filled with concern.

“Yes please come in. I was hoping we could meet under better circumstances though.” you reply, pouring some tea in the cart next to the study chairs. “Please, have a seat.

“Ah, so you are aware of the impending invasion as well?” Sister Lacosta asks.

“Vaguely. My Ayarian bodyguard was the first to detect something wrong.” you reply, giving her a plate with some sugar cubes. “We’re not sure what it is, but we’re pretty sure that it’d be Celestian.”

“I ran my simulations and probability calculations, I too am pretty sure that it’d be the Celestian forces attacking us.” Sister Lacosta says taking the tea. “Thank you for the tea Dutchess.”

“You’re welcome, but how sure are you about the attack?” you ask.

“62.39 percent with a 5.93 margin of error. Something so... shocking is often hard to predict accurately, though I was still going over the data when your summon reaches me.” Sister Lacosta replies as she elegantly sips her tea.

(What do you want to ask her about?)

>>34776856
Does she have a time estimate? Also, we wanted to summon Miyu and hash out Miyan clan business. Like Beck being a prick.

Good questions. If we have time, we should probably crush as many Celestian adventure groups in city as we can locate before they can link up with the invading army.

“Do you have any idea what sort of angel will be leading the attack?” you ask.

“Most of my records indicate a second sphere Angel, most likely that of the Authority class, a direct warrior of Heaven itself.” Sister Lacosta replies. “That’s an 87.125 percent chance of actually happening.”

Oh that’s just fucking wonderful. The Angels you fought up until now were just angels who just had some fighting skills. Authorities are the Angels who actually know how to fight.

“Do you have any idea what kind of anti-angelic defenses we could use?” you ask. “I was thinking of devices to repel the holy energy of the angels out from the city.”

“Those could work, but most likely not for long. Even without running tests I can be sure that they’ll bring along groups of people who will help break such barriers. In fact there is a 100% chance that undercover Celestian saboteurs will break any such devices from the inside.” Sister Lacosta replies.

“Can you figure out who’d be a Celestian saboteur?” you ask.

Sister Lacosta shakes her head in reply. “My wide scale simulations are accurate, but they do poorly when trying to isolate something like a single person or a single cell of a dozen or less people. I’d need to do something akin to interviewing everyone in the city, and seeing as the invasion is going to happen at 11:47 AM tomorrow, the time for that simply doesn’t exist.”

“Oh that’s wonderful. An angel on par with Dio’s power. Just what I needed to hear.” you sigh.

“Any particular advice in how to kill her then?” you ask.

“Quite often the same way to beat everything else. Keep hitting them until it dies.” Lady Lacosta replies. “However people experienced in spirit magic may be able to combat them more effectively, since they are technically spirits.”

“...And my main spirit user is gone, which just leaves Brodin...” you say with a large sigh.

(Sorry for the short reply, but since summoning Miyu is a big deal, I wanted to make sure more than one person was in agreement with that)

(Sorry about the delay here)

“Very well. I do have one more person with whom you need to meet with before we conclude our meeting here. Nalika, if you’d be so kind to seal the room off.” you say getting up.

Nalika only gives a small nod before walking over to the curtains of the room, pulling them closed while locking the door of the room.

“Person with whom I’d like to meet? Is it the Subota’s?” Sister Lacosta asks.

“No, but it’s a personal friend of theirs. You probably have better senses than me, so is there anyone else in this room?” you ask Sister Lacosta.

“Just us and your secretary.” Sister Locosta replies, putting down her tea as she furrows her brow in heavily while deep in thought. “Fredika?”

“No, but a friend of her’s as well.” you reply as you put down the candles for the ritual.

“Then I’m afraid you have me a bit of a disadvantage here Dutchess Browning. I did some analysis of your connections, but I can’t think of anyone else powerful with whom you’d be connected to.” Sister Lacosta replies.

“You’ll see.” you say as you begin the queen summoning ritual.

It takes a few minutes to cast as per normal, with at the end of the ritual Miyu is summoned up. The meeting goes as suspected at first, with Sister Lacosta drilling Miyu to see if she’s the real deal, before asking the obvious questions of why nearly every single entity who ever tried to scry their location have failed to do so, the usual questions that those who meet the Queen’s often ask.

“So you simply remained hidden by hiding into the place between dimensions?” Sister Lacosta asks.

“Technically it’s skimming on top of another dimension, but no offense I don’t have time to talk about such minor details as that. What I’m most concerned with is Beck and her current activities.” Miyu tells her. “You’re very talented in Apokalypsi correct?”

“I’m... one of the current masters of it in this age yes my Queen, but I’m unsure if I meet up to the standards that you are used to.” Sister Lacosta replies.

“No, you’re good. The fact you were able to keep up with my conversation with Interweaving Tri-dimensional physics proves that. Right now I’m concerned with what Beck is planning. From what Brooklyn has told me, we have reason to believe Beck is building some sort of superweapon.” Miyu tells her.

“Oh... dear...” Sister Lacosta replies, looking troubled by this.

“Then you know of such a thing?” Miyu replies to her.

“I... I never wanted to admit it myself. I thought it was errors my machines and calculations, but I didn’t want to think that the current Miyian Leader would try to do something so... horrific. Her distaste towards Okarians is well known to those close to her, but I’ve managed to read her aura time and time again and know that deep down she still hates Okarians.” Sister Lacosta replies.

“Do you have evidence of her making the superweapon?” Miyu asks.

“Not... exactly, but the last time I took deep earth scans to map out the Old TO sewer system for the Miyians, I managed to find a large cavern beneath the Miyian University, heavily warded. I wouldn’t have even found it if the Laminians didn’t give me the supplies needed for a powerful scanner. But that was nearly a decade ago. I have no idea what could be in there now.” Sister Lacosta replies.

Since Erika's premonition has very few demons and a slightly larger number of mortals left in a mostly intact city; It suggests that Becks weapon is some kind of chemical, biological or wave based energy type. It is likely that the weapon will not be built with an off switch or abort button, It may also have a remote detonator or be tied to Becks own life, as in she dies, the weapon fires, kind of affair...

Once again, these are speculative theories based on fragments and slithers of information...

“There may be a few Adventurer groups, but something like this sounds like their main army is going to be their bulk.” Sister Lacosta replies.

“Brooklyn, I forbid you from flipping out. I’m pretty sure if we can handle this we can get through this just fine.” Miyu says. “Still, only a high ranking adventurer group could’ve authorized an attack like this.”

“It’s equally as probable that Celestia just simply smelled weakness.” Sister Lacosta replies.

“It’s just... Beck is a hero amongst Miyians. It was because of his work that the University is still standing and his incredible exploits during the Science Lord wars. You may think otherwise, but he always had the Miyian race at the forefront of his mind. It... You take a small sigh as you sit back up. “I thank you for your time here Miyu, but I’m going to need to attend to other matters here now.”

“Very well, I wish you luck in the future Brooklyn, you’re going to need it.” Miyu says as her holographic image fades away.

You sit back in your chair, taking a few sips of your tea before deciding to open up a window to see how your pet is doing once again, ready to do something like jump out of the way of incoming arrows that may be headed towards your skull.

Opening the window this time you can see your pet is currently deep in prayer, praying before a drawing of an angel in what appears to be an abandoned hut outside of Old TO.

Moving your scrying window around, you can’t see anyone else in the area, meaning that it’d be the perfect time to actually begin communicating with her by opening small portals to pass her letters. Such letters like “You crazy bitch, why the hell is a celestian attack force coming towards my land?”, but perhaps in a more elegant tone.
