Previously on Medieval Pokemon Quest

A 14 year old boy is sent on his pokemon journey with his trusty Turtwig, Teddy. Hunting in the the forest and checking out a lake nets him Carla, the Clauncher. We travel to Bluerock city and join up with a trading ship. Bunking with the wealthy Jesse, Barry learns to sail and trains his pokemon. Barry escorts Jessie to her ultra-rich uncle and learns of the civil war taking place in Hoenn. After a night at a mansion, the pair explores the jungle and gain new partners, a Bagon and Croagunk. They then walk through the botanical garden and return to the ship.

On the trip home against the currents, a pirate ship is spotted and board the Painted Wailord. The pirate captain attacks your room with his Greninja. Luckily, we fight off the scum and watch Teddy evolve. Resting against the wall, you have a highpoint in every boy's life, your first kiss. You are informed that as the slayer of the pirate captain, you are now the owner of his ship. You rename the Grim Greninja the Garrulous Grotle. You and Jessie get kitted out in poke-armor, then you meet her parents. An awkward dinner later, you leave and wake in the morning to see Jessie and her father.

Going off to Hoenn, you learn to read and are banned from Jessie's cabin. You go to a captain's meeting, where you here some interesting tidbits. Locked out of her cabin, the two of you go off into the markets of Lilycove city. Ending up on the beach, you fall asleep and wake to the sunset. Walking back to the ship after escorting Jessie to her cabin, you are robbed by a red headed thief. Learning her story, you offer her a job on the ship, as she turns out to know some carpentry. You go on an expedition for new pokemon, making friends with a Mankey and naming him Jack. Jessie finds a Ralts, while Alyssa befriends a Luxio. On the last day in Hoenn, you go out with the girls to find books for the journey home. The markets seemed extra crowded that day.

A wild storm drives you off course, when you spot a small boat on the horizon. Held within the boat is the twins, Emma and James. Telling their story by switching speakers mid-sentence, you learn of their town that was taken over by pirates. You sneak through the swamps surrounding the town to do some reconnaissance. On your way out, you are stopped by a group of men. Luckily, their leader recognizes Emma and doesn't stab you. A few days are spent with the group, which is composed of all the people who escaped the pirates, in which you plan your attack on the town. Creeping up at night, you are able to take out a large number of pirates before the alarm is raised. Commanding your army of fighters, you destroy the pirate's battle lines. The pirate captain challenges you to a duel, which you accept. A few bruises and a broken rib later, you defeat the pirate. Blacking out, you wake to see the ceiling of an infirmary.

Pushing up off the pillows, you fight off the attentions of a nearby Chancey. The Chancey pulls her egg out, handing it to you. Grabbing your gear, you walk out of the log building with Jessie and Alyssa. With your ribs how they are, you are going to need to stay in town for a few days. That doesn't mean you have to sit in bed all day, though. What to do today?

Go see the twins. . . On your new ship.
>>
Clutching your side, you walk down the cobbled streets. A few towns people wave and thank you for your help with the pirates. All the people bowing and shaking your hand slow you down. With each shake, a blade jabs at your side. With directions gained from a blond woman and her husband, you reach the twin's house. Sandwiched between a jeweler and mason's shop, the log building stands three stories tall, with two large redwood pillars carved into a Nidoking and Nidoqueen. Entering throgh the double doors, you are met by a mousy serving girl. She escorts you up two flights of stairs, the landing merging into a hallway with three doors. Each member of your party knocks on a door, and wait for an answer. The two doors open together, and twin heads of gold poke out. Greeting them, you turn from the door at the end of the corridor. A minute of small talk goes by, when the third door opens. An old man stands in the doorway. Tall, with a fringe of white hair that might have once been blond, the old man calls to you.

"Can I help you? Wait, you're the boy who fought the pirate," the old man shuffles out of the room, leaning heavily on a hardwood cane, "Thank you, I can't thank you enough for your help. Please, come with me into my study." The man shakes your hand, his grip strong despite his age.

Entering the study, rows upon rows of books crowd the room. The twins rush forward, clearing plush chairs of scrolls and tomes. Siting down into the freed up chairs, you face the old man. The years were kind to him, with only a few wrinkles and liver spots visible.

"Thank you for saving my grandchildren, they told me of how they were rescued. If there is anything I can do for you, say it and it shall be done."

"I thank you for your generosity, but I assure you I would have helped regardless.Tell me good sir, what is it you do here? The twins told me of their work but such skill rarely comes from such humble work."

"I'll let you in one a secret, but it must never reach outside this room." the man leans forward, tugging off a small ring, "Where you wondering why this town is here? The land isn't very good, we can barely grow enough food for the town. It isn't well placed strategically, the kings doesn't care for us. It's because of this." The man hands you the ring, dropping it in your open hand. A large uncut emerald rests in gold, it's dark green shot through with blue crystal. You've never seen anything like it, the crystal seems to shift in the candlelight.

"A mine behind the town digs them up. Wouldn't you know, we found them by accident. A farmer was building a well when he hit a cavern filled with them. We've been hiding it from the world for three generations. I own a large share in the mine, and own the jeweler's next door. You can keep that ring, consider it a gift from a thankful old man."

"Thank you sir, I shall keep it with me as a reminder of this adventure" you slip the ring on, it's green standing out against your darkly tanned skin. "If I can ask, would you like to enter into a partnership? I have recently doubled my cargo area and can take on some here."

"That sounds very good Captain, I'll have a chest of cut and uncut gems brought to your ship. What do you say to a 60/40 split of the profits?"

You spend a few hours talking logistics with the twin's grandfather, who you learn is called Ben Kane. The day is spent haggling and watching the emeralds secured in the hold of the "Garrulous Grotle". During small talk, you learn of the nearby pokemon and tell your story to the old man. There seems to be a group of men seeking a ship to work, as one of their ships was burned to the waterline by the pirates. Now that you know its there, you can make out a hull under one of the piers

You wake up as the sun rises, red light sliding through the glass windows. The twins, Jessie, and Alyssa come by in a few hours, which you spent reading a book on Red. The doctor wraps your chest up in bandages and places a pad of cloth against your cheek, then moves onto your friends. Jessie gets her right arm encased in fresh gauze and the twins each get a Chancey egg and fresh bandages. Emma walks with a slight limp, the clean cloth stoping any blood from reaching her tights. James has his arm in a sling and encased in new webbing from an Ariados. Walking out of the infirmary, your group walks through the streets, ending up at the local chapter of knights.

The hall seems deserted, with only a few men in chain mail sitting around a table. Seems like the pirates were able to overwhelm them. They recognize you, even with cloth covering half your face. The oldest stands and bows to you, before leading you to a back room. He reaches into a small safe and pulls out a bag of gold coins. He hands it to you, and your arm almost gives out from the weight.
+1000 gp

Leaving the knights to their mourning, your group follows the twins though the streets. You reach a large square with one side charred and destroyed by beams. The market still seems busy, with builders working on the destroyed building and merchants selling their wares.

Looking through the plate glass front of the store, you spot a large brass...thing. You enter the store, the rest of your party trailing behind. Inside the store is filled to bursting with strange things, of which you can identify a few. A pale stocky man sits behind the counter, flipping through an unknown book. Everyone spreads throughout the shelves and isles, calling out anything interesting

"A bronze astrolabe! Why does it have so many markings?"
"Check out this spearhead, it's glowing!"
"Whats this stick do?"

An hour is spent digging through the curiosities. Many things are found that can be understood, but the clerk tells you what it is if you ask. A few items catch your eye, but the clerk says there are some more things in the back.

swivel gun is pic, can befitted to fire multiple different projectiles
>Flutes
"I've got flutes of all kinds, ones that rile up pokemon, ones that calm them down, and one more" the man steps into the back room, and comes out holding a carved ebony case. "This one is said to raise the power of all pokemon that hear it. I can't get it to work though, you need a special reed from the peak of Sinnoh's mountain." The man opens the case, and within it lies a a clarinet broken up into three pieces. It looks like bone, with golden and silver forming the keywork.

>Kyorge Amulet
"It was blessed by the high priest of the Weather Trio, or that is what the man I bought it off said. I don't know much about it, but the seller said it wards away storms and bad ocean currents."
>Runic Bracer
"That catch your eye, did it? Made in Sinnoh, Mesprit landed on the smith's shop and slept there for the night. The next day, the decorations on it were filled in with a red crystal. Every smith and jeweler I talk to says they've never seen the metal before."
>>
We should definitely get the bracer because mysterious item linked to the "emotion" legendary could be interesting. Maybe the Kyogre amulet for Jesse because storms. The calming flute would probably just be a good plan B in event of things going to shit.

White Flute
>>
Grabbing the runic bracer and white flute, you hand over the majority of your reward. Slipping the steel and crystal bracer onto your hand, letting it rest on your forearm. Strange, it fits perfectly. A blow on the mouthpiece of the White flute causes the pokemon to stand up and smile(or whatever animals with beaks do) at you. Grotle nuzzles his head against your leg, his bony face scratching your skin.

You leave the building, and spend a part of your remaining earnings on dinner for the group. The night passes quickly, roasted Tauros and sweet berry pies being devoured by man and pokemon alike.

One more night at the infirmary, and your ribs should be healed. With another day to spend in the town, how do you want to spend the day?

Walking down the street in the red light of morning, you reach the dock. Next to the "Garrulous Grotle", floats Captain Hunter's ship. Four holes are cut into the hull on both sides. Wooden planks cover the holes, stopping sea spray and rain from entering. Two cannon point forward from the bow, painted in the likeness of Magmortar. Small scars are visible in the wood, evidence of the nature of the ship. It seems water tight, without any obvious defects. The bilge needs to be emptied however.

After looking over the ship, you meet up with your friends. The twins lead you to the gate, and stop.

Setting fire to vessels is far more effective in real life, where pirate ships weren't equipped with living water cannons.
>>
The twins lead your group along a small dirt road shaded by willows and redwood trees. Taking a right at a fork in the road, you enter a patch of bog. Journeying through the woods, you see Ekans and small blue reptiles slide into the dark water. Reaching a clearing, you settle down for lunch. Fresh meatbread and berries break your stomach's growling. Finishing off the lunch, you walk a small distance to use water gun on the plants. One plant seems covered in white string, but that is probably just how it grows. Right?

Nope.

DEAR LORD ARCEUS! WHY IS THAT THERE? NATURE IS EVIL. THIS IS WHY YOU STAY IN TEMPERATE AREAS!

A foot long spider crawls out of the bushes, fangs bared at your Caterpie. Tucking him away, you sprint back into the clearing. The giant bug scuttles after you, it's red fangs glowing. The party jumps up as you break through the growth. The spider swings through the air, a line of white webbing shooting from it's mouth. It lands on it's six legs, biting through the white substance. Adjusting it's aim, a ball of webbing launches from it's mouth. It hits you square between your shoulders, knocking you over.

"THROW ME THE GODDAMN FLUTE!"

Jessie digs through your rucksack, grabbing the metal flute. She pulls back, and launches it through the air. Catching the metal rod, you shove it between your lips. Blowing on it, a low, calming notes escapes the flute. The Spinarak stops crawling over your body, and bites through the many coils of of webbing entrapping you. The spider rubs up against you, sitting on your chest.

OH DEAR ARCEUS, WHY ME? WHY MUST YOU HATE ME SO? WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE THIS?
>>
Curled up in the fetal position, a large spider pokemon crawls over you. When you try to escape, the pokemon follows you. The rest of the group only laughs at you and your predicament. Terrible human beings, your friends. You and your group leaves the clearing, with the Spinarak(name please) following you. Leaving the swamps, a rocky path leads up the mountain. A few hours later, the path ends with the town in sight. The setting sun shines behind the mountain, heating your back and neck on your descent.

Resting once more in the infirmary, you read another chapter in your book, before falling asleep. The sun rises and today you are leaving the town with a hidden mine. The doctor says that Philip is holding a meeting in the town square, no doubt he will have a long, boring speech about how saving the town was all his doing.
>What to do today?
>>
Go to the speech. Just so you have a talking point with Jesse about how boring this is.

Rising from your bed, the Chancey hands you a plate of scrambled egg. You look over the pirate ship, giving it a final look over before it goes out to sea. A few hours are spent emptying out the bilge and pouring tar into the cracks and notches in the deck planking. Putting on your tunic after lunch, you walk with Jessie and Alyssa to the town square. A large wooden platform has been erected, with Philip and other town officials standing on the wood. Ben Kane seems to be fairly high ranking, as he is standing on the platform with the twins at his side. The crowd quiets down as Philip steps forward.

"Friends, family, allies. We have gathered here to day, to celebrate our victory over the evil pirates that invaded our wonderful town. It is only through the strength and power of our armed forces and pokemon. I would like to thank Emma, and her brother, for their roles leading a strike force to take out the pirates and capturing one of the towers on the wharf. The final battle that took the lives of so many of out combatants. Let us have a moment of silence for the men and women that are no longer with us.

"And now, to go to a lighter note. I am happy to announce Emma's and mine engagement!" The crowd goes wild, clapping and cheering at the news. Emma and James slowly turn to look at Philip
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqyixwqiCag
>>
The twins and their grandfather turn and walk down the steps. The guard captain Philip goes on to talk more, but you kind of tune him out. Walking out of the square when the speeches end. You walk onboard to the Garrulous Grotle, only to see the twins and Mr. Kane waiting on the deck.

"Son, I am going to have to ask you to do me another favor. After Philip announced the engagement, that I had no knowledge of, the town won't let her back out. So, I am going to ask you to take her with you when you leave, which should be very soon." The old man asks you, handing you a small package. "That should more then cover the costs of having her onboard. Consider any extra as another gift."

"I'm coming too. After all, it's not like I'm gonna let my baby sis do off on an adventure alone" James speaks, his voice prompting no refusal.

>Kalos

Turning to the south east, you tack downwind towards Kalos. Twenty days of tacking and you are able to see a small island off in the distance. Six hours and the island grows larger, until you can see it is attached by a small spit of land. Coming close to land, a river is seen. Luckily, the mouth of the river seems deep enough to sail up and is wide enough to tack in. Herds of Gogoat and Stantler scatter as you pass, bouncing away from the riverside. Wooper and their evolved form raise up from the muck, their blue necks glistening as they stare.

The maps say there is a city upriver, and the parchment doesn't lie. A tower rises from a group of low buildings, stabbing into the sky. From this distance, there seems to be a large bird pokemon circling around the city. As you get closer, the shapes grow into humanoids with drab bodies and bright wings. You turn your attention to the dock, where you see five piers of stone jutting out of the town. You land first, followed by Colpher steering the pirate ship. You disembark and meet up with Colpher and your friends, along with some of the officers. They assure you that they can handle the emerald trading, leaving you to do as you like

Leaving the crew to their work, you and your group enter the city. Walking through the city, your senses are assaulted in every way. Perfume digs it's way into your nostrils, while women in vibrantly colored dress with hoop skirts, and ridiculous accented people cry out. A shadow passes over the crowd, then cries out in a foreign language.

'SORTIR DE LA VOIE!"

The crowd splits, moving to the sides of the street. A figure falls from the sky, ducking and rolling on the cobblestone street. Standing up, you see a loose olive jumpsuit with purple flaps between the legs and arms. A pokemon follows them, landing on the figure's shoulder. The crowds surge back, encasing the figure as they walk away.

You keep walking, stopping every now and then to let someone touch down onto the street. You stop at the market, grabbing some kebabs and removing them into your mouth. You spot Colpher haggling with a jeweler, who looks excitedly at the emeralds. You continue, climbing a hill and stairs to a grassy park with a large cliff. Brandt sees others jumping off, and follows their example. Crashing into the grass beneath the cliff, Brandt stands and starts walking up the stairs to the top.

The next day, you wake up and decide to..

Adventuring outside the walled city, your party walks down the road marked "Route 11". half the day goes by, when a building is spotted on the horizon. Walking to it, you see that it rests next to a giant canyon. The shop owner, in the same getup as the flying people in town, welcomes you and hobbles over to you. With the fabric sliding with each step, he reaches you.

"bonjour, parlez-vous français" The man asks, then switches to english. "Ah, zee is travelers. Welcome to Kalos. Would you like to try out a sky suit?" despite with the thick accent, you are able to make sense of the man's words.
>Do you want to try a sky suit?
>Yes
>No

>Yes
this is going to be a trap.

>>34852707

is that sarcasm or something else?
>>
"Sure, why not" With that, the man leads your group one by one to get fitted for sky suits. The twins go first, ending up with identical grey and green suits. You go, the man pulling a string from his pocket. With every part of your body measured, the man hands you a red and black suit with a red hood. Walking out of the building, the winds blow against your wings, almost pushing you off your feet. Jessie then Alyssa come out, Alyssa's suit tight in the chest. Jessie doesn't seem to like how James and you notice Alyssa's attire. Fully kitted out, the instructor leads a line of hobbling teenagers to a small cliff. Demonstrating the ways to move on the ground, the man gives you a brief lesson on steering and testing the winds. A hour later, you stand on the edge of the cliff with a french man shouting at you to jump.

>Rolled 99

You leap off the cliff, plummeting to your death. The wind blows your hair back, driving into your eyes. You fall, gravity pulling you to the rocky earth below. Forcing your arms out, they are almost pulled from their sockets as the wings catch the air. You soar upwards, the winds warping around you. Tipping to the left, you spin into a spiral, moving closer and closer to the cliff. Righting yourself, you steer away from the stone. A shaft of heated air lifts you to great heights, flying types circling around and below you. The world stretches out before you, the city and tower clearly visible from this height. The others start to jump, struggling to stay in the air while you easily shift from thermal to downdraft.

A small pokemon circles with you, before landing on your back. A warmth spreads into your skin from the pokemon. Pulling in one arm, you roll over, disturbing the bird. The pokemon falls a short distance, only to be caught by you. Holding the small red bird as you drop, it climbs into a pocket in the wingsuit. Hands now free, you shoot them out, the bones being pulled from their sockets. You spiral down, circling with Jessie and Alyssa as the instructor shows you a series of movements. You follow his instructions, and are soon gliding through the stone arches and soaring mere feet away from rocky pillars.

The day passes quickly, with the Fletchling resting in your pouch. As the sun sets, the thermals die off, leaving your group to scramble to gain altitude. The instructor shows you in the air how to land, then lands for real. Following his example, you scrunch into a ball, protecting Fletchling. You land, rolling across the sand to a stop. Fletchling hops out of it's pocket onto your shoulder, pecking at the material.

Once you have the paid the instructor, he informs you that the suits are available for sale, only 200 gp total(you have 474 gp)

We already have a shield made from its evolved form.

Shelling out the 200 gp for everyones suits, you camp out next to the building. With no fire(no wood), you are stuck with jerky and biscuits. Not the worst you've ever had, but definitely not the best. You walk back to the city, the suits folded up into neat little bundles in your packs. Once at the docks, you hear that they sold all of the emeralds to local jewelers. In the strong box rest all the gold from the Hoenn convoy and the gold from the emeralds(held in different bags). The ships are ready to leave, with food and water already loaded into the holds. Where do you want to do next?

We could head back to wherever Jesse lives. Her dad needs to know she is still alive.
>>
>>34854063
I could second that, we could ask her dad if he knows anything going on or perhaps some business opportunities
>>
>>34854083
And maybe we could get another of his PoV's.

"Oh joyous days, my beloved daughter has returned! And here's that nomad boy again, I don't know why I keep letting him go off with my daughter. Hiring that young thief was bad enough and oh great now there's more of them."
until he sees our spinarak and we find out he secretly loves spiders and likes us again

I wish this quest had character interaction.
>>
>>34854157
it did in the beginning, haven't done much lately I'll admit
>>
>>34854201
>>34854157
Yeah, I'm not the best at that. Something I need to work on, also need to make the plot hooks easier to spot.

looks like a tie between Hoenn and Bluerock. Next vote wins
>>
>>34854201
Yeah, and that is why Jesse is the only supporting cast member I have any reason to care about. All the others are pretty much cardboard figures in the background.
>>
>>34854245
Bluerock.
>>
Throwing off the mooring lines, you steer the ship downstream, letting the current push you along. Once on the open ocean, you let loose the sails and point toward Bluerock City. Time to get back to the homeport and see what happened in your absence.

As mentioned above, some character interaction wouldn't be amiss.
>>
>>34853759
Might be a bit late for me to add in now, but my votes are for:
>new ship: Staunch Clauncher
>spinarak: Charlotte
>fletchling: Robin

>>34854338
As always, thanks for running
