Welcome to Constantinople. The time is evening, the weather is misty and the date is October 14.

You are Sagara, just Sagara, and you were in a sticky situation. It had arisen from your current endeavour of trying to stealing the famed Maltese Falcon. Many wished to possess it, and you weren’t the first to find it. The Amakusa Catholics, a magic cabal from Japan, had. They had secured it and were preparing to transport it out of the country by sea. The Teutonic Knights were paying you a fortune to acquire the Falcon from them. It was going to be their main weapon in a world war that was shortly, but surely, going to break out. You had expected some kind of defence or trap around the Falcon and the Amakusa did not disappoint. It was a portal spell of some kind.

Now an odd twenty something magicians had you surrounded in a warehouse. They were also sporting some wicked looking medieval weaponry. You only had a handgun and thus didn’t fancy your chances in a straight fight. That was why you pretended to surrender. One of the assembled wasn’t quite like the others. The Amakusa didn’t notice until he stepped out from the shadows. By then most, if not all of them, had been shackled in place by a coil of smoke that had pool around their ankles. You recognised him. It was Teacher’s companion. He walked towards you, unmindful of people in his way, toppling them over easily. One of Amakusa that were tasked with apprehending you broke free of the spell and charged him.

He withdrew a gun from his coat. A combination of walnut and silver, the gun barked fire at the offending magician. Turning back to you he rotated the gun about a lever, the mechanism loudly clicking in the ensuing silence.

“Come with me if you want to live,” he said.

You didn’t fancy your chances so you went with him. Besides, the only one who could move freely right now was him, and he had a loaded gun. The Amakusa dared not make a move. A charred corpse and the smell of roasted human flesh was enough of a deterrent. Outside, all was quiet, the ruckus you had started only existing in your memory. He had kept the gun trained on you. Upon further inspection, you concluded it was a shotgun.

“The name’s Benjamin, Ben-jii if you want,” he introduced himself, “Your friends already have the Falcon I bet.”

You didn’t say anything as he directed you towards a car and gestured for you to get in.

“Teacher’s been sidetracked,” Benjamin continued, “I’ve been told to bring you to him.”

Teacher had said that magicians who were entirely comfortable with the modern world were rare. It was because they clergy of some kind. Benjamin didn’t really look the part until you got a good look at his car. The exterior was that of a modern Camaro, painted red. It was a different story on the inside. There were touches of modernity here and there. A police radio blaring a mix of English and Turkish chatter sat on the centre console. Every other surface was adorned with some animalistic motif of some kind. Some were carved into wood. Others were hand painted quite literally.

He sat with the shotgun in his lap before lighting a cigarette. Then he turned the keys and you were off, driving away from the harbour and in to the city.

“You’re not curious about anything at all?” he finally asked.

You started with an obvious question,

“How’d you know Teacher?”

“I didn’t,” he admitted, “not until he found me two days ago. Used to work for the FBI and sometimes Interpol. I freelance now though really it’s more like retirement for me. So when he showed up with a sack of cash and threat to world peace, well, here I am.”

“And what’s Teacher up to?”

“Isn’t it obvious? He doesn’t want that Falcon falling in to the wrong hands. If you’re asking why he’s gotten sidetracked then he’s helping a lost child. He told me to go ahead and pick you up at the harbour. Not sure if he factored in how fast you were going to move though but we’ll see when we get to him,” he switched off the police radio, “You don’t mind some music I hope.”

You didn’t really so he produced a cassette. As he fiddled with the console, the cigarette smoke blew your way. You made a show of waving off.

http://youtu.be/IDPsRca6Qt4

“Sorry about that,” he said and rolled down the windows a bit, “I usually don’t bother with GPS when I can use magic.”

“Got any birds in that afro of yours then” you then asked.

“Haha, nope, not unless you count my spirit animal,” he laughed.

“And what about that line? How long did you wait before you got to use it?”

“A Terminator fan I see,” he smiled, “Sorry to disappoint but you weren’t the first person I used that line on.”

You were going to then ask him about Squaresoft and Enix then you remembered they both went bankrupt when Academy City broke in to the Japanese video games market. Also, you could hear some sirens approaching as you hit the highway. Coming up from the rear was a black car of some sort, followed by a bunch of berries. Benjamin’s car’s radio crackled to life.

“Bonsoir cheri, do you need a ride,” Lupin IV spoke through it.

The two of you exchanged looks before you reached for the speaker. Benjamin made no move to stop you.

“Well I dunno,” you replied, “I already got a cool set of wheels here.”

You didn’t want to make it too obvious but still.

“Hmmm, how does a ’78 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am sound to you?”

“Well she certainly has me beat in the style department,” Benjamin admitted.

“I most certainly do Agent Jones,” Lupin laughed.

Benjamin grabbed the speaker as her call started gaining and came into view. Yep, she totally has him beat in the style department.

“Who are you?” he demanded angrily.

“Aw, you’ve never heard of me? And I thought all law enforcement did?” you could practically see her mock pout through the window, “I’m Riko Mine, but you may know me better as the one, the only, the illustrious, Lupin the Fourth”

He looked out of your side of the window, where her car had pulled alongside his. There she was, waving from the open T-top of the black Firebird. The Turkish police also showed up, bathing the area in flashing red and blue. Most of them were sedans but you think you saw an APC in the back.

Despite the fact that she was the most wanted thief on the planet, you would rather take your chances with her than suffer whatever Teacher had in store for you.

“Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” Benjamin levelled his shotgun at you.

“This.”

You grabbed his shotgun and twisted. It was easy to disarm him when he had to keep his hand on the wheel as the car swerved violently across the lanes.

“Whoa you okay in there cheri?” Lupin asked.

Your only response was the smash open the side window with the shotgun before you started to climb out. She saw it happen and drew closer as you jumped. Miraculously, you made it, landing hard on the T-top. It hurt, badly, but you still held on and eventually clambered inside, stolen shotgun an all.

“Bad move,” Benjamin spoke over the radio.

Smoke blasted out from under his car, bathing it in mist as it sped back up, hot on your trail. Lupin tried her best but it didn’t look like the two of you were going to outrun him on the highway like this, even if the Turkish police were starting to fall behind. A rear-end collision only hammered the point home. He could and would run you off the road if you didn’t surrender yourself to him. You still had a shotgun though.

“Nothing personal Benny,” you said, mostly to yourself.

Popping up and bracing yourself against the roof you took a shot a Benjamin’s car. A cone of flame emerged from the barrel and blinded you momentarily. When it was gone, so was Benjamin’s car.

“Where’d he go?” Lupin asked unnecessarily.

You didn’t know either but you could still hear the sound of his engine. Then, like a breaching sub, his car emerged from under the highway, sending bits and pieces of tarmac flying. Whatever sorcery it was, you didn’t panic and worked the lever. He was closing in from the left side and fast. Still, you made sure to aim and pulled the trigger. The third shot was closer to what you’d expect out of a normal shotgun. The muzzle flash was smaller and you could definitely see the pellets shredding his wheels.

“Oh shit,” was all you heard over the radio.

The Camaro swerved violently, hitting the divider and totalling itself. Thankfully you also saw his airbag pop so he probably would make it.

“Nice shooting,” Lupin complimented.

“Thanks,” you took the time to settle, “Where’s the Falcon?”

“Oh we’ve already delivered it to the Teutons,” she answered, “Payment’s been transferred too.”

“Did you like it?”

“Doesn’t quite compare to the Idol of Lamashtu but it was nice all the same.”

The drive to her safe house was rather short. Parking the car and approaching the door, she stopped.

“Hmmm, I think we may have a problem,” she said.

That didn’t reassure you in the slightest. From underneath her skirt she produced two Walter P99s. You readied your shotgun. Opening the door inside, you found,

Sitting on the couch was a person, you couldn’t really tell their gender. For now you just assumed they were male. He was dressed in a gakuran and in his hands was a volleyball with a bloody hand print on it.

“Sagara, I’d like you to meet my ‘arch-rival’” she did the air quotes, “He calls himself Herlock Sholmes, I call him Oscar.”

“As irreverent as ever, Riko,” a smooth voice returned, “Herlock Sholmes, or, Oscar if you must, at your service.”

Lupin made for the kitchen. You eyed the volleyball.

“Oh this?” he hefted it, “This is Wilson. Now you’re probably wondering what I’m doing here, and without the rest of the General Directorate of Security.”

“Not really,” Lupin shouted from the kitchen.

He coughed. It’s not like you couldn’t indulge him or anything.

“I was just curious you see, about the accomplices my dear Riko had managed to acquire for this particular endeavour,” he gave you an appraising look, “I never expected that the motive for the crime would be love. Love for someone so close you would make an enemy of the world, of some very powerful people, for. Quite remarkable really.”

Lupin came back with a cuppa for all.

“Where is my crew?” you asked.

“They are unharmed, though I suspect you will not like to know what I did to them,” you got up, “I am sending them back to Academy City.”

You lunged for him and held him by his collar.

“Watch the uniform please, I just got it ironed,” he seemed indifferent to your handling of him, “You see, I fashioned a dilemma for you. I mean if you’re fast enough you might be able to rescue them. Of course, that would mean letting this Teacher fellow make off with the Maltese Falcon, and foil whatever plot the Teutonic Knights are, well, plotting.”

[1/2]
>>
>>34843262
“Honestly Oscar, you just couldn’t leave my friends alone now could you?” Lupin sighed, “I swear I’m going to switch with Toulour.”

“But Riko, your cousin is so dull,” he whined, “Not to mention he keeps hitting on me. It’s uncomfortable.”

“You reap what you sow,” Lupin stuck her tongue out, “So how long do we have before the plane leaves?”

“I would reckon, two, maybe three hours,” Sholmes estimated.

You let him go. Your course of action was clear. You were going to,

“Get me the keys,” you asked Lupin.

“You’re too young to drive,” she got up too.

“Oh such, loyalty,” Sholmes added.

You turned and socked him in the face. He went over the other side of the couch.

“You keep doing things like that and I might fall for you,” she teased.

“Just get me to the airport.”

You still had an hour to spare as you made it to Ataturk International Airport. It was surprising that they were flying out in a commercial flight. How Lupin managed to get the passenger manifests for the flight in question you didn’t ask. Nor did you ask how she managed to tap in to their security footage.

Currently the rest of the Problem Children being held under armed guard. Asuka was being held separately, given that she was unconscious and they were deliberately ensuring that she was. It was the only way to stop her from using her Ability after all. She was kept under a sedative drip on a bed with an attendant physician and two armed guards. The rest were in a room together, again, two armed guards. They would board last.

So the question was whether to act now, when they were separated, or later when they were together.

“We need to get Asuka first, come on,” you decided.

“I agree, she was one of the more persuasive amongst your little band,” Lupin nodded, “The cameras are looped for the next half hour or so.”

Good. You had left the shotgun back in the car. There was no telling how many shots were left in it and it wasn’t suppressed or concealable anyway. Your handgun however was, having fifteen shots and two spare mags of subsonic to go around. Despite that, you don’t think you’d be using it at all.

Lupin led you to the holding rooms. The hustle and bustle of the airport made it hard for you to get an accurate map until you reached the quieter parts of the airport. It wasn’t that much quieter given Ataturk International was one of busiest airports in the world. At least subduing the guards had been easy. That was when you hit your first snag. Asuka wouldn’t wake up anytime soon.

“We diluted some Cp-191 to keep her completely sedated,” the doctor informed you, “At least not until the plane has landed for three days. We don’t even have an antidote if one exists.”

“That’s just great,” you grumbled.

“Well why don’t you leave Asuka with me?” Lupin suggested, “Then you can go save your friends without worrying about her. I’ll get her out guaranteed.”

Of course, you couldn’t guarantee that you’d get out with Mishka and the boys. The guards’ radios came to life.

“Oh they’re being paged,” she pointed, “You’ll probably have five minutes more of hassle-free passage.”

You couldn’t argue with her at that point when you were so pressed for time. Nodding, you exited Asuka’s room. If Lupin said she was going to steal something away, she would do so and you could trust in that.

As you made your way down the halls, you could hear the sound of boots around the corner. They were between you and the room you need to get to. Taking another route or otherwise trying to avoid the patrol of five would cost you precious time. Though you weren’t sure you could take down five armed gunmen, element of surprise or no.

You slipped in to a closet as they rounded the corner and you waited. More and more guards shuffled about the halls but they didn’t bother to check the closet. They were headed out towards the main areas of the airport to track down Asuka, who had undoubtedly gone missing now. Still, with the areas they were patrolling it made it hard for you to finally sneak out and liberate your three remaining companions. You had waited until they were moved to begin boarding. It looked like they were going to have Mishka and the boys flown back regardless of whether Asuka went with them or not. Luckily they were headed in you direction. Unfortunately there were little viable non-lethal options for you especially with five guards around them.

Waiting until they walked past, you slipped out behind them. The first guard’s cry was muffled as you clamped down on his mouth and jabbed your pistol in to his armpit and fired. Still, it wasn’t quite quiet enough as it drew another guard’s attention. Kyousuke tackled him, despite the cuffs, as you dispatched another guard with a neat shot to the head. Running on adrenaline you drew a bead on a third guard and sent two shots his way, hitting centre mass but not quite dropping him thanks the vest. The time you took to drill his head with two rounds allowed the fourth guard to draw a bead on you. You think you fired simultaneously but you weren’t sure when you felt an impact along the side of your head. Your vision swam red but when you finally could make out something, it was Mishka who was inspecting you.

“Shit, right in the eye,” your heard Kyousuke comment.

“I’m alright,” you got up.

You were missing a portion of your vision as your left eye socket swam in blood and pain. At least the objective was complete.

“This way,” you urged, “come on.”

All that was left was to get out of here and for the Problem Children, that was child’s play.

Episode 59 End. Interlude incoming.

In a hospital in School District 13, two scientists oversaw the procedure of their current patient. They were going to do the impossible, or rather, they had been asked to. Someone, somewhere, on the Board of Directors, had wanted the body turned in to something useful. They hit upon the idea of a cyborg. The problem was repairing what damage was done to brain since death. Keeping it in cold storage only went so far after all. The console beeped and on the far side of the room, something was printed out.

“Here’s his latest dream,” one of the scientists grabbed the sheaf of papers.

“Let me see,” the other asked.

The papers changed hands.

It took him five minutes to read.

“Two questions, why is this in French? And why is it so shit?”

“Well he’s, well, was, a healthy young man,” the other replied, “You should have seen the one where he bends his Judgement friend over her kitchen counter. Or the threesome with a redhead.”

“Don’t tell me you actually got off on those,” his colleague deadpanned.

The scientist only whistled as the progress bar on the VERDICT Prototype’s programming crept closer to completion. By December, there’d be little left of the original, Kyril Torikov.

Interlewd end.

M-maybe Kyril will figure out some massive bullshit to emulate his old brain through using TK instead of electric and chemical impulses and become some sort of TK ghost thing.

It's totally possible!
Oh who am I kidding. ;_;

maybe their just talking about his meat body and not his mind

I hope Kyril can still have sex

That'd be pretty cool. It'd also mesh nicely with the esper name I wanted him to have. "Ghost Hand" sounds cool.

I get the feeling they are. Aleister did mention Mama Kyril wanted her son not dead and I imagine she would be pissed if they tried to do any brainwashing. They also don't seem to be doing much more then looking at his dreams.

I just wonder how robo Kyril will look?

like Kihara Nayuta or like Raiden from Revengeance?

Mama Kyril is dead and Aleister only intends to follow the letter of the agreement, not the spirit.

>To be fair, even you were surprised that she had survived Anubis. Now she was coming back. Hopefully you could fix this before she returned with a vengeance. It was a minor setback all told but it was an annoyance all the same. Right now you were going to have her killed, again. It would slow her down, buy you time. It was all that you could do to get your plans back on track again.
