/tg/ - Traditional Games

The Italian heavy panzer bounces through the underbrush as fast as its tracks will carry it. "Can we go any faster?" You ask, nervously scanning the rear arc for signs of the French super-heavy flag panzer. Its armed with what you can only describe as a 155mm death howitzer, easily capable of knocking out your panzer with even an indirect hit. You're anxious to put as much distance between yourself and that monster cannon as you can manage.

You are Anchovy, Commander of Anzio's P.40 flag panzer and captain of its senshado team and, as far as you can tell, the only operational Maginot tank- their Char 2c- is chasing you. Well, for a given value of "chasing"- as a pre-War Super Heavy its not exactly a quick machine. Buts its got thick armor and that cursed howitzer.

"Depends. How important do you feel our tracks are?" You driver quips back- You've been nagging her to keep the P40's speed up. "Any faster and we're likely to throw them. Or crash into a tree." Impertinance aside, she's right- going so fast that you immobilize or wreck your panzer won't help the situation.

You lean back- You'd feel a heck of a lot better if Hina or Pepperoni would show up- At least then you could start working on going on the offensive.

>Slow down, survey the situation.
>Keep moving with the quickness.
>Where is Pepperoni anyway?

THEY ENJOYED IT!
Four different women read the chapters, they praised the good use of second person perspective, interesting characters, unique premise, and excellent pacing, particularly the fast-pasted tank combat scenes. Only complaints were minor grammatical errors.

Mind you, there people have never heard of or watched Girls Und Panzer, so this is proof of your writing skills. Real People, not just internet anons, enjoy your work.

While I keep scheduling to have the rest of the quest looked over, shall I begin fanfiction.net uploading?

You change your viewpoint over to the front- Logically you know that the 2c is far enough behind you- You look for any sign of Hina and her SPG group. The last contact with them had been nearly ten minutes ago- if they'd been engaged it would account for their radio silence- the Semovantes' commanders pulled triple duty as the Tank Commander, Gunner and Radio Operator- you could generally do two of the three effectively.

"What about Pepperoni?" You muse. It'd been even longer since you'd heard from them. Unfortunately the little tankettes lacked an on-board radio, which means that the CV-35s worked as an almost independant force- they'd get their orders and what their part of the plan was and they'd be given mostly free reign on how they accomplished the goal. Pepperoni was an aggressive and competant commander- so far the situation had worked out.

"She's probably headed for the rendevoux point." Your loader says, looking down at the clipboard with the plan overview. "Its not far from here- but it takes us away from Hina." She offers. "Takes us near the road, too- If there's any disabled tanks there that haven't been knocked out- they could give away our position."

>Tankettes would be a useful distraction- Radio Hina and tell her to go there.

Both in canon and here, there is a criminal lack of Soviet Armored Liberators.
What Soviet tanks do you all want to see Oorai acquire and use?
Medium: T-34-57, T-43, T44?
Cavalry/light: T-50 or BT-8?
Heavy: KV-1s, KV-85/IS-85, IS-4?

>>
>>34850584

Implying it wouldn't be glorious IS-6.

Fall of 1944, she's legal!
>>
>>34850772
Like you haven't already given it to Pravda, along with some ISU-152s.
>>
Why are three small schoolgirls driving a Char B1? How many people does that thing need to operate at full efficiency? 6?

They could use a crew upgrade at some point.
>>
>>34851014
because it only had a crew capacity of 4. yeah, they probably should draft a Sodoclone, but there's only so much room in that cramped, outdated, French crawler. 6 isn't happening.
>>
>>34851065
6 Grown men, no. 6 Sodoclones? Short Sodoclones?
>>
>>34851130
There remains the problem that the crew stations were not designed for more people to operate them.

If you wanted to split any of the roles, the way the crew stations were organised, you'd have to have the extras sitting in someone elses' laps.
>>
>>34851130
do keep in mind, one of the safety rules is 'don't make contact with the sides of the tank'. So, a comfortable 4 really is best.
>>
>>34851193
>>34851186
Point. Just a cruddy tank i guess...
>>
>>34851255
yeah. The french weren't just fighting in 1939-40 with the last war's strategies, but the equipment to boot. but, we need every cold-bloodied vehicle we can get, and we have a commander who can work miracles with those kinds of units. so its all good.
>>
Guys.
Guys.
What if Pravda gets a KV5 or an IS-3?
Dear god how horrifying.
>>
>>34851365
Lets hope not.

If so, everyone track it at the same time with HE. Good luck making that move without new parts...
>>
>>34851365
KV-5? nah, not even a prototype. IS-3? yeah, start panicking.
But you know what would be worse? KV-2 platoon. so much derp, so much death.
>>34851402
It can still shoot you.
>>
>>34851365
Eh. Heavy tanks are bad but I'd be more worried if they have a T-44 or even an Object 137.

Don't know how they'd get their hands on the latter but we've seen so many rare tanks, it would just seem par for the course.
>>
>>34851434
It cant shoot you if you retreat away from it. A turret can be avoided...
>>
>>34851341
>but the equipment to boot.
Not so much. The S-35, while a maintenance nightmare, was an excellent medium tank.

The Lorraine 38L Armoured carriers were the first fully-tracked APCs in active service, and the Renault UE was the first armoured supply vehicle designed to accompany advancing troops.

Their Artillery, Mortars, Anti-Tank Guns, and Armoured Cars were all thoroughly modern and of good quality.

The only problem was that they got so strategically blindsided they never had the opportunity to put most of that kit to use. On the Tactical level, when they *did* use it as intended, they ran roughshod all over the Germans - DeGaulle's counter-attacks at Abbeville andMontcornet, for example.
>>
>>34851446
the trend seems to be everyone getting one or two extra big guns, then one experimental/super heavy. So, IS-6, a couple T-54s, and some ISU-152s since Pravda's thing is 'bigger hammer'.
>>34851504
point made, that is what Anzio is doing here, and to an extent, what our strategy of high-mobility mediums is.
>>34851541
so just mentally fighting WWI, got it.
>>
"No. Stick to the plan- we're going to need our SPGs for the 2C." You say after a moment of thought as you roll into the grid point where Hina and her SPGs should be. You ready the radio- what's taking her so long? "Hina- What's your position?" You ask, swinging the periscope around.

There's a short pause but just as your about to radio a second time the set crackles with Hina's voice. "We're late, I know- We're pinned down here by the river- looks like some of their tanks managed to remobilize. We can't get up over the bank without them shooting us."

"Numbers?" You ask, checking the map. "How many and what are they?"

It takes a few more seconds- but now that the tank is still you can hear gunfire over the sound of the engine. "Looks like... Their other Chars B1 and at least two Somuas- they're back in the tree line." She pauses again. "If you head for us, you'll have their rear..."

You look at the map- wouldn't be far at all, but its risky- they'll know exactly where you are and it could mean the 2c gets an escort if you don't get all of them.

"Alright, we'll head over." You say. "Hold tight- wait for us to distract them!" You were actually kind of hoping for a chance to get your P.40 dirty- a lot of what commanding the flag panzer is avoiding fights. And you didn't learn to command a 25-ton death machine to avoid a fight.

"Alright... We're gonna turn and head South- Hina needs us to bail her out." The driver begins to turn the tank and move towards combat. "Time to get our hands dirty! Load Armor-Piercing. We're going to hit them from the rear."

It doesn't take long to make it through the woods- your driver is one of the best on your team outside of the tankette force. "Alright, contact! Stop! Full stop!" You command and the panzer grinds to a halt.

You see your first target in front of you- a Somua S35. From how her turret is oriented she doesn't even know you're here yet.

>Open fire! Knock her out.

"Take the shot?" You gunner asks from in front of you. "No way I'll miss..." You pause before replying- The S35 is distracted- sure you could take it out easily, but you'd be wasting a great opportunity- if you can get close and spot more targets, you can start rapidly engaging opposing panzers before they can start reacting.

"Wait..." You say. "Get us a bit closer- I want us to be able to immediately fire a second shot." Your driver puts the tank into low-gear and slowly creeps foreward- "Alright, keep the gun on them- if they notice us then take them out."

But they don't- As you creep closer and closer you're able to spot a second Somua, and then a third. And finally the B1 Heavy. Perfect! "Alright, Hina, we're in position- get ready to come over the bank!"

>Take the closest Somua then work through the mediums.

HELLO BOYS, I'M BAAACK!

"Ready to fire..." Your gunner repeats. "Anchovy?" She askes- but you're still considering.

"Alright, bring us onto the B1- need to take her out first." You say. Your gunner immediately begins to swing the turret over to the B1, further down the line. "Hardest target to take out frontally- lets make sure we knock it out from behind first." You gunner nods. "Then engage Somuas at will."

"Got it." She reples, already taking aim at the B1.

"Fire when ready." You simply. She squeezes the trigger and the P.40 rocks under its first round fired in anger in over seventy years. Your so close that you don't actually see the round, all you see is the aftermath- the rear of the French heavy tank explodes and a small white flag pops up from its turret. "Target down!"

"Going to the Somua." Your gunner shouts unnecessarily as she brings the gun around to the closest Somua- the one you'd snuck up onto earlier. It already realises somethings wrong and its turret is swinging back to point at you.

>>
"Up!" The loader shouts. The S35's turret has managed to traverse about 2/3 of the way towards you when your gunner fires her second shot, catching the French panzer in the side. If they realised something wasn't right when their B1 exploded, now they know that there's a panzer behind them- both remaining S35's scramble into gear- one of them attempting to turn to face you while the other attempts to back into thicker foliage to hide.

But both of them are tracking their turrets towards you. The P40's got decent armor for an Italian design- its no Tiger but it'll stand up to most guns. On the other hand, testing a panzer's armor when its the flag tank is probably not the smartest idea. "Charge! Get in on the S35!"

It's counter-intuitive, but often one of the best ways to keep the enemy from shooting you is to move closer- At close distances movements and maneuvers require more turret rotation to keep up with and gunners will oftenavoid taking shots that could accidently hit an ally.

Your gunner slews the turret to the left, preparing to engage the further of the two remaining Somuas. She's about to fire when a round explodes against its frontal armor, knocking it out. Hina's SPGs have used your distraction to clear the bank and get into a firing position. A 75mm round has put one of the remaining Somua's out of commission, but the second one is a bit too close.

And its turret is now pointing straight at you...
