You're thrust abruptly into waking world. You've little idea how long you've been meditating, there are no windows in your room. The only light streams in through the crack beneath the door and it serves to do little more than reveal the lazily drifting motes of dust that fill the room. You'd never realized how stuffy this room was before. You really need to light some candles or a lantern or something.

You shake your head to banish those thoughts. There are more important things to worry about than lighting your room. Perhaps the most pressing issue you face is the upcoming assassination of the Shah. Judging by the Triumvirate's cryptic rhyming Shah Hadi El-Amin has perished within the last few days, though you're unsure by what means he was killed. Your gut tells you he was assassinated, but you don't really have any evidence to back that up. Regardless, his death means that Kadir is now the Shah.

In some ways this makes your task easier, killing Kadir won't weight nearly as heavily on your conscience as killing his father would have. In other ways this makes your job harder. The deaths of two Shahs in rapid succession wouldn't exactly be good for the stability of the realm. The Samraat of Kulkarni already raids heavily along the eastern border of the Shahdom, if the Shahdom were to be perceived as weak the Samraat might decide to start a war. Plus, Shahzadi Shahnaz holds some rather radical views. If she were to suddenly emancipate the slaves nobility and commoners both would be outraged.

You've got about four days by your estimate before the assassination of the Shah is supposed to take place. Food is a much more imminent concern. You're not sure what time it is, but you're starving. You didn't eat anything after your breakfast of various pastries. Granted, that was a rather generous breakfast but you could still use a bite or two. You might also want to get some reading done, or go look for Fulvia. You can't precisely recall if she said she would come to you or if you should find her.

>Look for Fulvia, it's time you put this whole 'violation of privacy and trust' thing to rest.
>Find some food. Why manage interpersonal relationships on an empty stomach?
>Retreat to the library and do some reading. It ought to be abandon this time of night.

>>Fulvia speaks up. “Mikhael, when you have time I would like to speak with you.”
I think anons remember this, but are forgetting what we told her
>>You nod. “Just contact me via the brooches when you can. My days have been hectic but I ought to have plenty of time tomorrow.” Fulvia doesn't respond, instead returning to her task of boiling the buckets of latex.
>>34910823
see above
>>
You decide to get this whole Fulvia situation dealt with now. You can always eat later. Taking a moment to stand up and stretch the stiffness from your limbs, you set out first to her bedroom door. When you knock, there's no answer. You try again but once more only silence greets you. Instead, you decide to try Skull Kid's door. The last time you saw her she was helping him boil that weird white goo into rubber, whatever the hell rubber is.

When you knock on Skull Kid's door he calls out. “Door's open, come on in.” You're relieved to see that the fumes from their previous labors have dissipated somewhat, meaning your lungs don't start to burn just from breathing the air. Fulvia is sitting at Skull Kid's desk carving something into the gauntlet he's made. It looks more or less complete, all Fulvia's doing is hollowing out a space on the forearm. Skull Kid is sprawled out on his bed, helmet flipped up and a rolled bit of paper packed with some kind of plant extract hanging loosely from his lips.

He exhales a great cloud of smoke as he pulls the rolled bit of paper out of his mouth. “Come to check on my progress, Mik?” You shake your head. “Looking for Fulvia, actually, but as long as I'm here how is it progressing.” Skull Kid shrugs his shoulders. “Almost done, I think. I need a power source and I need to test it. You said something about lanterns that draw vys from the surroundings, didn't you?” You withdraw one such lantern from your cloak. It flickers to life after a moment, filling the room with a warm, red glow. “These, I've got quite a few of them so feel free to gut one.”
(1/2)
>>
You toss it to him, and he catches it absentmindedly. Fulvia has yet to acknowledge you, though you doubt that's out of any sort of ill-will. She seems entirely absorbed in her task. “What's she doing?” You ask Skull Kid, he responds after a moment. “I asked her how to get the gauntlet to function with a Rhynian power source. Instead of answering me, she just-” He's interrupted by a sudden explosion. Wood splinters shoot off in every direction, several burying themselves in your face but the vast majority merely plinking off your armor. The a crater has been blasted into the wall behind where the desk once stood.

You curse under your breath while trying to gently extract a sliver of wood from your cheek. Fulvia seems completely unphased, simply nodding. “The gauntlet is working properly, though it seems to only be capable of producing one effect. That is to say, a powerful blast of raw vys.” Skull Kid plucks a several inch long splinter of wood out of his arm, wincing. “Well, it ought to be a more than sufficient weapon at the very least.” You wave a hand absentmindedly, Skull Kid's wounds as well as your own knitting shut. “Will he be able to control that or will any amount of vys entering the gauntlet set off that reaction?” Skull Kid answers your question. “There is a switch in the circuitry, unless I clench my fist the energy will just be cycled back to the generator. Hopefully that won't cause any problems.”

Hahaha oh the bait, I shall not take it. A lot of the time it was just the mindless infighting on hotly debated topics that turned to name calling and immaturity. Other than that, I love the quest and the fanbase has some great ideas.
>>
You honestly have no idea if that would cause issues or not, but it doesn't seem like it would. Fulvia stands up and takes acknowledges you for the first time since you entered the room, bowing to you just slightly. “Shall we go to my room for our chat, then?” You nod, while Skull Kid stares at the space where his desk used to be and the lantern in his hands, grumbling something about his workspace. Fulvia and yourself slip out of the room just as Mortia throws open her door and angrily demands. “What was that!? Did you actually test that damned weapon indoors!?” Fulvia nods. “It was something of an accident, I channeled vys into the device but it was only a small amount, it shouldn't have reacted as violently as it did.” Mortia frowns. “So nobody is hurt?” You and Fulvia both shake your heads. This seems to calm Mortia at least slightly. “Good, now don't do it again while people are trying to fucking sleep...” She slams the door behind her as she retreats once more into her room.

You manage to reach your bedroom without further interruptions from your companions or those coming to investigate the sound. You take a seat on your bed, while Fulvia simply remains standing by your doorway. She clears her throat, or simulates clearing her throat at least. “Would you like an explanation of what you saw, or will you spare me that?”

You slump forward, resting your elbows on your knees. “To be perfectly honest, I am interested in an explanation of what I saw but I don't think it's my place to pressure you into telling me. If you feel like sharing, share. If not, feel free to keep it to yourself.” She stares at you for a long moment before responding. “Very well. In that case I will merely give you enough information to provide context. We AIs are based on the personality and appearance of a young human whom our Creator once coveted. As an elf, our creator far outlived his lover. Ever since her death he has been struggling to find a woman exactly like her.”

You note she refers to her creator in the present tense. Could the enchanter that made the AIs really still be alive? “What you saw would be termed my 'Simulacrum'. Everything else you saw would be referred to as the 'Compages'. The challenge my creator faced was constructing a framework, a Compages, such that the Simulacrum could be expressed perfectly. Because my Simulacrum was not sufficiently expressed, my creator gave me to the Rhynian Empire to serve their purposes.” So she's what her creator considered a failed experiment? Gods above, you'd love to see what constitutes a success. He's crafted sentient beings from little more than a metal body and magic. That's damned impressive by any metric.
(1/2)
>>
“I want to be very clear that she is not imprisoned, or trapped within me. She is an intrinsic part of my. The basis for my personality. A dear friend. I am only irritated because I did not want you to think of me as a failure. A reject. A discarded experiment. It had wished to forget about that facet of my past entirely.” You think back on your discovery of the woman inside Fulvia's mind. The entrance to the room where she was contained was protected by heavy, if rusted chains. The woman herself seemed world-weary and tired. The entire situation didn't exactly suggest she was Fulvia's old friend.

You're not sure you really believe that explanation. You've no doubts as to her reason for not wanting you to know, but you find it hard to believe that she would keep a dear friend in a locked room buried as deep in the depths of her psyche as she can manage. Still, you said you weren't going to press and you're not going to. “I understand completely, and I swear by my gods and your own that I won't tell another soul about what I saw inside your mind. I hope you can forgive me my transgression.” She bows her head politely. “Consider it forgiven.”

She seems to think that the end of the discussion, but you speak up as she turns to leave. “If it's any consolation, I don't consider you a failure. You've helped me on innumerable occasions since we first met and you're the most impressive example of enchanting I've ever met. Not to mention the fact you're still more or less sane after a thousand years of sentience, a feat only very, very few can boast.” She projects a slight smile, bowing her head to you once more. “I appreciate the sentiment, Mikhael. Oh, and I have completed decoding the last of the Rhynian research data. I've given them to Skull Kid, as much of what they contained related to Rhynian generators.”

She makes her exit with that. While she still doesn't seem quite as friendly as she once was you get the impression that she'll be much warmer towards you than she has been you finished purging her mind of corruption. You're a little worried that she probably lied to you about the nature of her Simulacrum and her relationship with it, but so long as your relationship with her is mended you're not overly concerned.

Goddamnit, I wan that egg to hatch. Meditate on it, we must become friends with baby dragon
>>
Wait, since profectus mediated on the egg too does that mean the dragon will consider him its inferior sibling?
>>
>>34912503

No point on doing that since it will slow down our progress.
>>
>>34912503

Hell no, if we're hatching it, we find a nice isolated cave where we can do family bonding undisturbed.

Also, let me just take this intermission as an opportunity to say that somebody was promoting the quest in the QTG yesterday. Stop doing that you retard.

hell yeah motherfucker, if we meditate on fire, we're doing it the conventional way at least until we reach Master. I hope dragon baby can wait until we get around to that, and that it's help us along with our grandmaster insight.
Soma, would the Surya temple we came across on our first time out of the temple be considered a holy place for Fire meditation?
>meditating with those fanatic techniques in the book we found, sitting above giant flames while holding our dragon baby
>>
If we are to meditate, shall it be nature?

>>
>>34912437
>As above, but instead of sleeping you ought to meditate on something.

So what if the decision that is horribly bad, that soma said that we don't think is.
Talking about the egg or angering/waking up a nest of dragons?
>>
>>34912610
i always forget about that thing, we got it so early in the quest. cant believe it took us this long to really get around to it.
thankfully if we almost murder ourselves doing them we have asgoodasgrandmaster healing, so we dont end up looking like the cheese monster
>>
>>34912650
I can think of some alternatives; Keeping the cloak, espousing on our adventures in the local tavern, ignoring certain things, and some others I have that are speculation that I won't elaborate one because 'as if' Soma needs any more ammunition to destroy everything that is Mik forever.
>>
>>34912613
I'd vote for Metal or Nature before Fire but if we do go with Fire we should do the trick with the tiny ball of fire in a bucket of water as our meditation method. Nature would be easy if we pull out the staff, we should get to novice at least pretty quickly.

We should try sleeping in the next few days simply to see if we get another visit in regards to the assassination.
>>
>>34912650
Yes, I also considered that, and then realized that bringing a long lost species that used to rule over all lands back ontu the surface, even if temporarily under our control, is indeed a horrible idea.
But the BQ audience will never be convinced about this, so I didn't even try dealing with the backlash I'd receive.
Maybe if we were top tier Nature/Fire/Metal and know the Vys effect we'd have a chance of it not turning into mass genocide, but our present outlook is indeed quite grim.
>>
>>34912722
We're almost to grandmaster level in water. I think we wont have too much trouble with a fire dragon
>>
>>34912703
It's not the tavern, it was before the portal.
>>
>>34912705
We should only use the staff for low-mid tiers I think, novice should be plenty easy as is, in fact we should definitely get to lvl2 in all elements, as it is incredibly easy to do so.
>>34912703
Soma said the thing he was talking about wasn't recent(i.e.post-portal)

>>

It was on the ask page. We made a bad decision at some point, a decision that we either consider a good one at the moment or we just don't think about it anymore.
>>
>>34912796
He's saying that bringing the egg with us or waking the dragons (possibly by messing with the heart) could be the 3rd worst decision we've made in this quest
>>Worst decisions, besides the mask and the entire bar situation? It would be something that the players don't currently think of as a bad decision, so I'm afraid I can't reveal that information.
>>
I still vote, that we eat a Hydras heart.
>>

>>
>>34912882
Sure, if we can get one without using the spice or losing our entire party.
>fighting a monster with better control over water than a grandmaster at its own turf without being grandmaster ourselves
I mean, I guess maybe the gun could work with some metal+poison+leech+paralyze+etc.debuffs could work, but that's a big maybe.

I say we meditate on either slow or Speed.
We can increase our understanding of metal through helping out a blacksmith as the old man said. * knocks out duties we should be doing, makes it seem like we're atleast helping*
>>
>>34912933
He didn't say how long it'd take, anon. Could be days, or it could be months/years.
Also, not as metal, which will cause some anons to vote against it
>>
>>34912947
>>34912933
Oh i know about that, but we don't know what length of time it would take, but i was thinking of hire a small army to hunt with us or buy one thats already harvested.

Its gonna be a hard fight either way.
>>
>>34912977
>buy one
Anon, hydras are incredibly powerful, remember we knew of no one who actually fought one and lived. Also incredibly rare, so yeah.
>>
>>34912959
Actually getting a hydras heart could also take months/years. Also he was asked whether doing it for a week would be enough to achieve grandmaster, seeing as he said probably, it probably means it wouldn't take much longer, we'd just have to stay there for as longas need.
Also we could get someone to stay nearby and we could just call out with our brooch and have them save us if we need saving, so there's less risk involved.
>>
>>34913005
Sadik, has some rare shit, plus we can always ask the Gilf, or old man if they know any one.
>>
>>34912977

"Sure Mik, just head over to Burt's monster heart shop at the edge of town he should have a few in stock."
>>
>>34912910
don't think so friend.
>>34912882
I agree. I think eatting a hydra heart would be the way to go. But it would be in our best interest to do some power leveling before we head out and get that heart.
Gaining expert in metal would be nice.
Study the body information making healing easier and hit harder.
Learning a few more effects.
should take a couple days, but in the mean time. Our party will get stronger. SK will have time to experiment and possibly even make a beta of his gauntlet.* after his alpha *
And make armor that basically draws in vys
>>
>>34912650
There are a lot, really.

Things we don't really consider bad decisions,
>Acquiring Fulvia; AKA putting an AI bent on world domination in a new body (who then kills some random people)
>Acquiring Cloak
>Stealing Chrys from her village
>Assassinating Spiros
>Making a Vatis-Based wargame
>Helping a Fire Spirit return to power to gain knowledge of Enchanting
>Creating an ancient tomb to avoid a curse
>Killing Revenant Dickwad Baldev in the Mines
>Eggceptional baby stealing

That covers the major "good" choices we've made, though I'm sure I've missed some of the more nuanced ones.
>>
>>34913053
Did the old man earn it?
>>
>>34913091

>>
>>34913107
The cold generator.
>>
So if we are actually gonna gun for one, i say we ask the old man for directions and hire an army to help us fight it.I have a feeling that the pirate kingdom has a hydra or a heart of one, so we could always fuck with them once we leave.
>>
>>34912977
>buy one thats already harvested.
We are going to eat it's heart to gain it's strength.
Using our money doesn't quite feel right.
I say we go and face it with nothing but a spear and a loincloth.

After reaching master in nature and metal first of course.

thats stupid.
While it should be a task to do soon.
clearing our head of an evil god takes precedence. We're getting the artifact in Pa'vala

Also as a side note next time we see the old man mention
> Hiacian Signet Ring (Hidden Effects)
considering he was around that time he shoul d know a thing or two about the ring.
Also he told us what he could remember about the armor and 2 effects, out of the 14.. He may remember more this time around. Considering he has a set him self.
>>
>>34913727

>>34913773
you could but u wont
>>
I'm like 85% sure the dragons weren't the fuck up. >>
>>34913765
Dragons are slow creatures, anon. Maybe they haven't left yet.
Also, to be honest, I'm starting to have doubts on whether the cold gen could cool down a literal magma lake, I think it was only used to control the inside of the facility.
This is probably just hopeless optimism talking, though.
>>
I doubt the cold gen was the fuck up, the dragons didn't actually nest in the facility, and they had huge fucking area surrounding them that was just as hot as their nest and much hotter than most places in the world. I doubt they would resurface instead of just finding a new nest underground or staying in their old nest.
>>
>>34913824
Fuck you too anon, it's just reasonable paranoia, we're not even full shadowrun yet.

>>34913779

>>
>>34913858
>we're not even full shadowrun yet

im fucking plying
>>
>>34913780
well, that being said it wouldn't be the worst thing to try and head over to the mine, and turn off the cooler. it's been a couple of days not months.
The cooler couldn't have frozen over lava in days, and it's not a small cave where the lava was.

ALSO big point, remember the a/c is powered by lava. So the less energy the generator gets the less the a/c will work.
>>
What if the cold generator fucked up the magma generator somehow and resulted in a chain reaction of some sort?
>>
>>34913824
People who aren't 100% sure of potential problems and have no facts to back it up or in character ways of acknowledging them are the worst and I hope Soma adds your inane spite to a side character he has planned and shows you how dumb you are.

>>
>>34913938
Exactly, being hypocritical is worse than being straight up wrong.

Also, Soma, this is why you don't reveal that the players have made a bad decision they aren't necessarily aware of on your ask page.
It's bad meta. If we didn't know or think so, you should've kept it that way by staying silent. Pls.
>>
Guys stop fucking worrying.
The area around the facility was huge, they could just relocate anywhere there if they need to.
The a/c in the facility was only conditioning the facility itself, not the dragons nest or the area surrounding it.
If the a/c was actually cooling the rest of the area the dragons would just destroy it, they're smart creatures.

C'mon, you guys really think something like that is gonna stop(or be a problem for) a nest of dragons and a cult devoted towards them?

Much higher chance of them coming to find The Egg.

Which is why must hatch it as soon as possible so it views us as Father and then the Dragon has much less of a reason to take him/her/it once it sees us together.
>>
>>34913601
We should get SK to outfit it with some magi-tech weapons once he gets settled into his inventor role.
>>
>>34914822
The egg was apparently discarded though, it wasn't near the main nest where the other young dragons were.
>>
>>34914822
You do realize that if the generator becomes cold enough to cool down the nest they won't be able to go any where near it.
>>
>>34914822
You know what I think will happen?

The Dragons will become super paranoid over the fact that not one, but several non-enslaved humanoids waltz into their lair and set about fucking shit up when they were just trying to nap. They'll become convinced that the only way to ensure they aren't disturbed any further is to scout out the surface. Upon finding that the world lacks a strong empire capable of beating them back they'll set out to conquer the world again.
>>
>>34914890
Or another scenario that validates your shadowruns will happen right?
>>
>>34914889
Good kill the babies, less dragons and less problems.
>>
>>34914957
If the babies do die they will be looking for revenge.
>>
>>34914889
How?

They had plenty of dragons of size to move through those corridors and i have no doubt that they could quite easily burn that shit to slag.

>>34914890
Bit more likely but remember that the dragons most likely won't use the elevator and have to fly 2 miles straight up through some seriously deterring monsters (some of which they cannot even see). Much more likely that they just burn the surrounding dozen floors and slag the elevator shaft.

Plus these sort of dragons are kind of a serious late game thing, not something that i think he would throw out as is.

An encounter with a dragon yes, but dragons trying to conquer the surface world no.
>>
>>34915014
Still less dragons, do you honestly think they would stay under ground for ever?

You're assuming that the dragons are immune to the cold.
>>
>>34914871
Which is why they may no come after us. but even if it was off to the side the dragon chasing us did stop at the hole. Could be that it's a dragonbornesque thing and couldn't handle the heat that comes with incubating with the rest of the eggs. Or a multitude of other things.

Let's just hope we're/it isn't worth their trouble.

>>34916416
It's actually probably once of the simplest enchantments there are.
>>
>>34916416
Mate, we haven't even made a single enchantment, the brooch sounds like a high level enchantment seeing as it works on a network.
It should take at least several runes to make.
Would probably take years to recreate.
>>
>>34916416
Speaking of which, we have fucking enchanted shit and have yet to even look at the runes that cover it, so that we can learn them.
>>
>>34916416
we would likely have to create a few batchs before we make a brooch as good as the ones we currently have.
While I wouldn't mind studing them, to further our enchanting not trying to waste time making inferior copies. that will only have 1-3 uses then become useless, cause we don't have ^permanency.
>>
>>34916447
There's literally zero information that attests to this.
>>
>>34916447
Yeah remember that having 1 or 2 vys in his body is holding more than double what it can normally sustain. It'd burn it's way out of his body not unlike what happened with our hands.
>>
>>34916356
Are we turning SK into Batman/Iron Man?

Because I really hope so
>>
>>34916490
Other than our own bodies reaction to having too much vys, than what can handle it.
Right now he has 0 vys.
>>
>>34916471
We're kind of waiting for the revised enchanting system before delving into it I think. We've got enough on our plate without complicating things by starting to learn a system in a state of flux. I'm eager to start work with it too though. Especially with the idea of making baubles as practice and selling them for stupidly high prices.

He has some if i am correct even our master said with training he could learn the most basic of skills in 1 element.
Meaning he has the ability to learn and use vys.
Which even if he doesn't progress learning more. Him using vys should increase his understanding and make his technology along with fulvia's help grow exponentially.

422 KB JPG
You reach into your cloak, withdrawing your Shockwave Sword and your Hiacian Sabre. You pluck up the Hiacian Sabre first, giving it a once over. It's a long, elegantly curved blade with a rather ornate hilt that stretches unusually far up the blade. Its hilt is wrapped in soft black leather and covered in ornate metallic designs. The three gems embedded in the langet. The two furthest up the langet are relatively small, while the one at the junction of the hilt and the blade is easily much larger in comparison.

You haven't really taken any time to examine the sabre. It was one of the weapons you found in the bandit's vault in Fort Longia before descending into the mines. It's been in your cloak for quite a while but frankly you just haven't had time to account for all of your various loot. You begin by simply channeling vys into the blade, but nothing obvious seems to happen. The gem placed highest up the blade might glow a little but you can't tell. You channel more, and then channel yet more, until the uppermost gem is glowing brightly.
>Vys Pool: (22/30)

While the blade obviously stores your vys it doesn't seem to be doing anything with it. You push more vys into the weapon, but now it's the second gem that's starting to glow instead of the first. By the time you've got the second gem glowing brightly thick, black veins have stretched their way across the blade, pulsing rhythmically with power. Curious, you can't help but wonder what it is they might do.
>Vys Pool: (21/30)

(1/3 or 4)
>>
>>34917040
because soma has been specific with how much we can do in a day.
read two books or do two meditations.
counting thousands of coins. Should be left to others that can't meditate or working on things that could help us.
and some one we trust. Don't think leaving Mortia with easily 2-3x our current fortune giver her much reason to stay.
considering she wants to rebuild her old country. She could take the money and try and rebuild with that massive fortune.
>>
Getting the third gem to illuminate requires more vys than the previous two. However, the pay off is equally amplified. As the gem glows brighter and brighter the discolored black veins that had stretched across the surface begin to widen. Unlike the veins on one's arm, they are not raised off of the surface. Rather the blade is perfectly smooth, it simply appears to be turning black little by little. By the time the third gem is glowing brightly the blade is a patchwork of black metal, only thin cracks of grey steel breaking up the splotches. Unfortunately, you've still got no idea how this might affect your attacks.
>Vys Pool: (18/30)

You quickly dump as much of your vys as you're safely able into the Shockwave Sword before slipping both back into your cloak. Suitably exhausted, you fold your legs beneath you and easily slip into a meditative trance. Initially you focus simply on refilling your vys reserves, an easy task in the temple. The entire place seems inundated with vys. Likely the result of having so many powerful Vatis in one place, all of them casting regularly. You're not entirely sure how much time it takes you exactly to fill your reserves, but it certainly feels like less time than it ought to take.

Once your reserves are full you turn your attention to the world around you. It takes only a simple spell to light the lantern in your room with fire magic, once you've picked it out of the swirling motes of color that fill the room. Sometimes being able to see ambient vys is more of a curse than a gift. Light floods into the room and you begin to try and bend it and shape it using the principles of what you learned on your first attempt. You try to curve the light given off by altering the temperature in the surroundings. You manage to get your perception of the lamp to flip and distort, but not much more than that.
(2/3)
>>
>>34917162
>not surfing on vys waves toward the pirate base while playing our oud

do you even Magic Mik
>>
>>34917162
>implying Mik won't have enough money left over to have a proper military and wage war against that elf warlord and restart the Rhynian empire
>>
Frustrated, you try to filter out all of the ambient vys. It takes some effort and a lot of focus, but you manage to reduce the world to only you, and the light given off by the lamp. Unfortunately, this doesn't particularly improve your ability to manipulate the light given off. You try to focus on the concept of light as merely a type of vys, specifically a type of vys under the umbrella of Fire magic, but you have trouble convincing yourself of this concept. It just seems so foreign. Eventually you try to channel vys towards the light itself, and that finally earns you some results. You manage to shift the light directly, and when you open your eyes you see that there appear to be two lamps in the room. One directly in front of you, the other hovering in the air off to the right of the actual one.
>Vys Pool: (28/30)
>Congratulations! You're halfway to being a Master Fire Vatis!
>Congratulations! You can create illusions like a Master Fire Vatis!

You stop channeling vys and the illusion vanishes, but then begin channeling vys again and the illusory lamp reappears, this time off to the left. You try moving the lamp from side to side, but you can't seem to manage that much. Once you've begun channeling vys all you can do is maintain the illusion, you can't manipulate it any further as of yet. You also note that the illusory lamp is fairly obviously an illusion from this close up, there is an odd haze around the edges and you can sort of see through it to the wall behind. Still, from a distance it would look quite convincing.

(3/4, I lied.)
>>
You let the illusion drop and stand up, stretching out. You hear voices from outside your door, both masculine and feminine. It's likely morning, your gut tells you closer to afternoon but you can't really be sure. You don't think there is anything terribly pressing you need to attend to today.

Meditating on all of our shit will give us a better idea on enchanting. and improve our understanding. Hell we may even get a skill like nature has extrasensory senses.

Lucky was a two-bit thug who we could've easily negotiated with fairly or wiped out at our leisure without all the rest of that shit. He had no overarching plan nor had he done anything particularly grievous.

They all eventually join us in the realm of the insane. At least a little bit.

>>34918128
In the after-thread, Soma said that after that incident and after we showed him our own firepower, that he was willing to deal in perfect honesty without ill-will.

In character, we didn't know that. But also in character, Skull Kid told us that Magic was supremely rare and would cause normal people to become aggressive or freak out. In addition to that, we had Skull Kid with us to tip us off the moment Lucky tried anything fishy. We even asked our party what they thought, and they all told us this was probably a good deal. So naturally, we set his place on fire, kill his friends, and mutilate his girlfriend who we could easily pacified without feeding her fingers to Ricky like they're goddamn onion rings.
>>

Every one of them was a criminal, and just as likely to fuck us over as to help us. Maybe we shouldn't have lot the building on fire but we did secure our party safe access to the city, if lawful stupid had a problem she could have tried to do something productive instead of just carrying a dragon egg around.

Here we go again will this shit ever be done with?
Darzi is, unsurprisingly, the first to speak. “The situation you got us all into was despicable. If you'd simply paid the man or swallowed your pride instead of trying to show off your power-” Skull Kid interrupts here. “By he way, and I mean this seriously. Stop doing that. You did it again when we were with those scavs in the tunnel. I understand in combat it's necessary but don't go out of the way to try and prove to people that you know magic. That shit's really, really stupid and it's going to cause far more problems than it solves.” Skull Kid clears his throat, nodding his head towards Darzi. “Anyway, floor's yours.”

>Darzi seems insulted that he would interrupt her but not overly so, she quickly moves on with her little tirade. “As I was saying, if you'd swallowed your pride instead of trying to show off he would've led us to the tunnels and we wouldn't have needed to fight off a squadron of angry-what was it they were called?” She poses this question to Skull Kid, who quickly responds. “Gangbangers, or bikers. Your choice.” Darzi nods her head firmly. “We wouldn't have needed to fend off angry gangbangers. We wouldn't of had to rush our way out of the Conclave. Most importantly, we wouldn't have compromised our own morals.”

I am sure others had some feelings about it. But didn't think it was either important enough to say anything about it, or just didn't want to mention it.
I am one for having Mik act like a sociopath to get what he wants. If killing a few thugs gets us closer to where we need to be I wouldn't mind.

But of course now that it isn't just us, we should be a bit mindfull of what our peers think.
Fulvia = won't give a fuck.
Prof = Will be surprised but will give less fucks.
Chys = " my lover can do no wrong"
Darzi = "WTF DID THIS NIGGUH JUS DU!"

Is how I see the mind set of our allies.
>>
>>34918246
True, but he was still a scumbag who and a thug, i can think of a lot of other situations where it would have resulted in us looting his dead body.

I would honestly like to point out that we never confirmed what Spiros was up to. While I don't think our Ahgati friend was lying to us. We don't really know what Spiros was up to.
Far as we know he was the accountant for the local mob. That the archmage owed money to.
or blah blah. while still being a public figure.

>>
>>34918284
But Mik wasn't a sociopath. He may have started becoming one due to insanity/ricky/entity but he certainly didn't consider the lives of other sapient creatures trivial. Anons wanting him to be CN lol so Random goes against what his established character is set up as.

I'm gonna be honest, I still don't see the problem with the whole thing, we cleared out a bunch of thugs, burned down a bar(Only bad thing), killed more thugs that chased us, and gtfo
>>

They shot first.

Or rather they were the first to intentionally attack us.

So we're sort of in the right to retaliate, just not persue
>>
>>34918217
How are we measuring innocence exactly? By not commiting crimes, etc? A The point is they didn't do anything to us until we tried to play pyro and shit went up in flames. Lucky maybe tried to intimidate us, but instead we made the situation worse.

>>
>>34918546
I think the crux of it is we're arguing about direction we're taking the character and what anons think is moral in the situation we were in, avoiding the biggest offender: our incompetence
>>
>>34918425
And here we get to the meat of the matter. We're not an Aghtaki. At least, we don't see ourselves as such. That's why we're removing the brand and trying to stick with our own culture, helped people who needed it and that we could afford to, stayed loyal to our friends, and generally don't act like a peasant slaughtering Blackguard.

These people had absolutely no quarrel with us. They allowed us into their city and place of leisure with no malice. We tried to intimidate their leader and killed them all when we could have just acted like a rational being and taken the deal offered to us in good faith. It was evil as hell and absolutely one of our hugest fuck-ups.
>>
>>34918586

I remember how people wanted to kill/drop Chryssa/Prof/sell Fulvia because they didn't seems usefull.
>>
>>34918627
We kind of did, everything else was just a bonus.
we agreed to kill him, and we just so happened to want a gift before we left. It was then that we got the cloak. We didn't know exactly how badass our cloak would be.
>>
The funniest thing is that there are two types of moral fags on each side right now, the classic "KILL THE EVIL DEGENERATE SCUM WITH HOLY FIRE" kind and the "NEVER KILL EVER, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES" kind
>>
>>34918590
At least try to learn about a character before shoving them off.
That way you may get a chance to do it justifiably and on an actual basis of their... character.
>>
>>34918634
We made a mistake and they opened fire.

If they hadn't opened fire we wouldn't have attacked.

And we had every right to intimidate the guy who had threatened to kill us a few minutes prior. Not saying it was the smart thing but still.
>>
>>34918594

You pull out the first chest of gold in your inventory, letting it hit the ground with a weight thud, coins jangling loudly inside of it. You sit down in front and open it slowly, a overwhelming feeling of giddy excitement overcoming you as a big, heaping pile of gold greets you, glimmering invitingly in the light from the lamp. You run a hand across the mound of cold metal reverently, the sound of then clinking against one another music to your ears. You start pulling out gold coins by the handful, stacking them neatly as you count away. Shortly after you begin counting someone knocks on your door, and you tear yourself away from your task to answer. Darzi, Chrys, Profectus, and Mortia are standing on the other side of the doorway. Profectus begins to speak. “Hey, Mik. We were all going to the beach to relax and wanted t-by the Gods Mik look at all that gold!”

Darzi cranes her neck into the doorway to get a glimpse of your prize, her eyes going wide at the sight. “Are you only just starting to count all that?” You nod. “Yup, it's the money we found in the vault inside Fort Longia, I've got a whole other chest of gold and six more chest of silver.” Profectus runs a hand through his hair. “Damn, Mik. I'd completely forgotten about all that money we'd found. Do you, uh. Do you need some help with that or...?” You glance over your shoulder, then at your companions. “Yeah, sure. I'll get Fulvia over here too. It will go faster if all of us work together.”

Yes well that's what everyone is saying, it's less of a matter of if it was right or not (it only does in a might-makes-right ideology, which is retarded) it was also just plain stupid and winded up endangering our party and eventually innocent bystanders. It also clocked our time to take advantage of the city itself.
>>
>>34918694
You do understand that darzi could in all likelihood. Beat us in a fight with out magic right? She wouldn't beat chys.. cause well shes a monster. But Darzi is skill, and has military experience. And If i remember correctly even lead her own troops. She just so happend to be incompetent after we met her, and since we healed her scars she should be a lot more secure in her own skin.
Only reason i brough up giving her spare money to rise up in politics is because she already said she wanted to stay.
>>
>>34918698
Between the time we discovered Chrys and the time we found Prof, it wasn't said as much but there was a clear undercurrent of people wanting to murderhobo Chrys while she slept or something. Then we calmed the fuck down and let her character grow.
>>
Chrys and Skull Kid nod. Mortia sighs in exasperation. “So we're not going to the beach then?” You hold up a hand placatingly. “If we work quickly we'll finish in plenty of time. I mean, what is it. Ten in the morning?” Skull Kid shrugs. “Closer to eleven, but yeah.” You nod. “Great, so with six hands we should be able to finish in a few hours and then all get back to whatever it is we wanted to do today.” Mortia seems to relent, and you step aside to let everyone in while reaching out to Fulvia via the brooches. {Could you come to my room? I'm going to start counting the money we looted from Fort Longia and your help would be appreciated.}

Her response is delayed only slightly. {I will be there momentarily, as soon as I finish helping Skull Kid dissect the vys lantern you retrieved from the fort.} Fantastic, seems like this is already shaping up to be a productive day. {Door will be open, just come on in when you're ready.} You shut the door, but don't lock it. When you once more return your attention to the chest of gold you find that it's a little too crowded fro all five of you to sit around only one chest, so you pull out your second chest of gold and set it down off to the side. You, Chrys, and Profectus start to count out the first chest while Mortia and Darzi work on the second.

Fulvia shows up a short while later. You note that her projection has dropped, from what you're not sure. She bows her head to you before taking a seat at the second chest and beginning to count. She seems to be much faster than anyone else, quickly forming a stack of coins next to her much larger than either Darzi's or Mortia's, or even your own. After about an hour you've finally emptied your chest, while the second chest has been empty for quite some time. You call out. “Alright, everyone call out your final tally. Fulvia, I'll trust you to aggregate the counts into a total.”

They opened fire because we unleashed weirdness Skull Kid just told us the day prior flips peope's "HOLYSHITOHMYGODWHAT" button. For. Our. Amusement. Just look at the reactions of the Tower staff and the potential consequences Soma listed after we got off Namek. Magic was guarenteed to incite hostility, bewilderment, or strong reactions.

>>34918742
And technically, most Samja wouldn't care if one of theirs killed a foreigner for no reason. But no one does because we're not drow, and we're not evil dicks, and we're not supposed to kill or intimidate people who treated us fairly and without malice for stupid reasons.
>>
After it's all said and done, you wind up with nine thousand, one hundred, twenty nine gold coins. Fulvia does the arithmetic to convert this into one hundred thirty six thousand, nine hundred thirty five silver. It's quite literally more silver than you'd even heard of, outside of the Shah's treasury and the richest of noble houses and merchant princes. It's a truly ridiculous sum. More than you could ever imagine spending. With the total counted, you collect all of the coins and pack them away inside your cloak. Profectus speaks up while you start hauling out the six chest of silver and spreading them out around the room so that everyone can have their own chest to work on.

“So, uh. Mik. When are we going to divvy all of this up? I mean, how are we going to divvy all of this up? Is it going to be just the people who were with us when we found it, or are we going to chip Mortia and Skull Kid into this too, or what?” You pause, rubbing your chin absentmindedly while you consider his question.
