My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. Though I'd like to think that my upbringing was pretty normal, my parents got a really good job offer last year that would force them to move to the opposite end of the country... and that was the end of my "normal childhood." And after reading that weird book that my best friend Mina had sent to my house, I myself can't even be called "normal" anymore.

After a bit of drama at school with Theresa (and I still feel bad about that), I headed over to Charlotte's house to get ready for our date!

Though I kind of made myself look like a total pervert, Charlotte doesn't seem to be mad at me so I guess things are going alright!

With any luck, the rest of the night will go as smoothly.

"I guess we should get around to taking that picture, huh," I say.
"...oh yeah," Charlotte sighs. "Stay right there, I'll go and get my phone."

Reluctantly, Charlotte walks over to the kitchen to pick up her phone where she left it. While she's doing that, I walk back over to Milla and start scratching behind her ears. She's purring pretty loudly by the time that Charlotte comes back.

"Alright, let's get this over with so he'll stop bothering me," Charlotte mumbles.
"Umm, you don't have to take a picture with me if you really don't want to," I say.
"I- it's not that," Charlotte holds up her hands defensively, "it's just that he's sure to have it printed and show it to Gabrielle and then they'll probably frame it and hang it up back home..." she says, blushing as her words start to drift off into incoherent mumbling.

Charlotte seems to be really close to Mr. Gauthier and this "Gabrielle" person... I guess that's his daughter that she mentioned before?

"You ready?" Charlotte asks.
"Whenever you are," I reply.
"Okay then, let's move over here so the light's shining on us..."

i am the light

Not now, stupid voice.

And so, Charlotte guides me over by a particularly well-lit part of the living room and leans in close as she holds out her phone in order to take a selfie of both of us.

"On the count of three, okay?" Charlotte says.
"Gotcha," I nod.
"One..." she readies the camera into position. "Two..."

"...three!"

Just as Charlotte takes the picture, I lean in even closer and kiss her on the cheek.

"Cecile!" Charlotte gasps. "Why in the world would you-"
"Because it would make for a cuter picture," I reply. "See foe yourself."

Without a word, Charlotte turns her phone back around and looks at the screen... and just as I had hoped for, it's a perfect picture of Charlotte smiling while I'm kissing her on the cheek. It's like... maximum cute.

"See, isn't it great?" I ask, smiling at her. "I bet that Mr. Gauthier would be super happy if you sent it!"

Well no, but Alli knows she's a druid so the presence of exotic highly illegal animals would probably be easy to file under "druid stuff" without much fuss.
>>
>>34945806
I think it would be better if Mila tears up our clothes so we are forced to borrow more from Char.
>>
>>34945806
Mina was missing from school because she was reading the book.

"You have Mina's number, right?" I ask. "Because of the stuff with Andy?"

"Could you send that picture to her too? ...and one to me, now that I think about it."
"Are you sure you want to be broadcasting your private matters like this?"
"Mina said that she didn't want to leave me out of this stuff, so..." I shrug.
"Well if you say so."

And a few seconds later, I my phone starts buzzing with a new picture mail. After making sure that it's indeed the picture that we just took (and it really is super cute), I forward it to Allison with the title "about 2 leave 4 the date :)"

And almost immediately, I get a response from her.

"Oh my god you two are SO ADORABLE!!!! <3"

Fuck I can't wait for her powers to be revealed.
>>

"Who was that just now?" Charlotte asks. "Was it something important?"
"Nah," I shake my head. "Just Allison saying that we look super cute."
"...oh," Charlotte starts to blush. "Well, um... that was nice of her to say."

With our embarrassing photo time done with, Charlotte says goodbye to Milla and then leads me out the door and over to the elevator. The ride down to the main floor seems to be even longer than usual... probably because I'm super anxious right now. I made my friend cry and made myself out as a pervert to Charlotte, but now the thing that I've been waiting for all day is almost here!

DING DING

I can't keep from smiling as the elevator door opens and we make our way out into the lobby. Date time is almost heeeere!

"What's the special occasion, ladies?" the creepy hotel guy asks. I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to deal with him today...
"We're going out for dinner," Charlotte replies.
"Well I see that you two are certainly dressed the part!" he laughs. "I'm assuming that it's a pretty fancy place, yes?"
"Yes, we actually have a reservation at Bertonelli's, so..."
"Oh!" he gasps. "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hold you up!"
"No, it's fine," Charlotte replies with a forced smile that seems almost genuine. I guess she's really used to dealing with annoying brownnosers like this guy.

Bowing in apology for wasting our time, the man leaves us to go and bug someone else. We take this opportunity to hurry outside before something else annoying happens.

"The restaurant is a little ways away from here," Charlotte says. "I would have just called as taxi, but we have some time before our reservation time and I thought that it would be nice if we could walk there. That's not too much trouble, is it?"
"Nope, that's just fine," I reply. "Walking there would be nice."

Hold her hand.

Ask her about Gabrielle, if she's Mr. Gauthier's daughter who she bodyguarded back in the day, what she's like. Then move on to asking what bodyguard work was like.

And I assume that is because most of what we know about him is from Charlotte, who adores him like a surrogate father. We also know that Irene dislikes him because he makes life harder for her organization.
>>
>>34946506

We know two things about him: he treats Charlotte as his dear not!daughter and she naturally look up to him, and Irene think he's a piece of shit.

We'll have all the time in the world to see for ourselves who to trust.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill just like the Theresa haters in the previous thread.
>>
As the two of us walk along the sidewalk, my mind flashes back to that stuff that Charlotte mentioned after her boss texted her. In particular is the name... what was it again?

"...Gabrielle," I say, snapping my fingers.
"Eh?" Charlotte turns to me.
"That's the name, right?" I ask. "Is she your boss's daughter that you used to bodyguard for?"
"Umm, yes," she nods. "What's got you curious about her all of a sudden?"
"I dunno, I just wanted to know more about you and the people that you're close to," I reply.
"...oh."

She seems kind of happy to hear that.

>[1/?]
>>
We also know some things about him based on his actions:
>he's willing to help a friend of a friend of a friend and invest lots of moneys on said help
>his employees are the least aggressive bunch from all factions we met
>he takes care of his subordinates
>he tries to help local victims of branch powers
Now, all of this COULD be part of an evil plan, but if the world only had bad guys like this, we wouldnt really need good guys.
>>
>>34946617
Well, we know that he likes to keep a friendly image. Charlotte said as much. Hell, that's why he's paying for Andy's bills in the first place.
>>
>>34946549
Didn't read any of the player-input in the last thread, but why would anyone hate on Theresa?
Sure, I can understand some animosity because of the whole Mina-ordeal, but she is CC's friend and as it stands her branch could take control at any moment. She doesn't deserve that, and I'll try my best to make CC help her with what she is going through.

>inb4 he's the one who crippled the Sonic guy's mom
>>
>>34946608

"So what's she like?" I ask.
"Well," Charlotte sighs, "Gabrielle is very... cheerful, I suppose? And kind of spoiled, though I guess that's just kind of what happens when you're in a situation like hers."
"What, her father spoils her?"
"He spoils me too, actually," she laughs. "But yes, he has a tendency to give in to whatever she asks him for, regardless of cost. She gotten a little bit better about that lately, though."

Sounds like a handful.

"So what was it like bodyguarding for her?" I ask.
"Kind of normal for the most part," Charlotte shrugs. "She had her tutors and I had mine and I'd just watch out for trouble and make sure that nobody tried to use her to get in close to her father."
"Huh," I nod. "Must've been hard."
"Not as much as you'd think, actually," she laughs. "Her father and I are pretty much the only people who she has any interest in being around so any attempt at that tended to fail rather miserably. And her father always has an eye on her, so..."

>>
>>34946724
Haha, I guess the fact that we only see her under the lens of a young boy who has a crush on her may mask some of her flaws.

You knowmwho I think is the most interesting character? Overshine. REMOVE gets shit done and gives no fucks. someone is threatning to kill our maidens? REMOVE. Bitches be bulling our lesbros? Bully their faces off. Not sure which maiden to pick? All of them belong to REMOVE.

Cuteness apart, it's a much more likable and playable character then cecile, and I would be happy to play on a quest where this 'evil' personality takes over.
>>
>>34946788

You're one of these guys who kept complaining we couldn't play as Monique, right? Because Reinhold wasn't enough of a dick for you?
>>
>>34946715

"Is that why you're not doing the bodyguard stuff anymore?" I ask.
"No, there are... other reasons for that," Charlotte replies with a nervous laugh. "But Gabrielle doesn't really need a bodyguard anymore since she can take care of herself pretty well. And I still wanted to do something to help Mr. Gauthier myself, so I went out searching for the books when we found out about them, and here I am."
"Well I'm not complaining about that," I say, taking her hand.

Yeah we're out in public like this, two girls wearing fancy dresses and holding hands, but... meh, I don't really care. I like Charlotte and being able to walk together like this is really nice and I don't care if people see us like this.

But just in case, I keep an eye open for anything suspicious.

>>34946724

>>
>>34946788
I'm sure that there will be plenty more Overshine once DESPAIR sets in.
>>
>>34946819
>But Gabrielle doesn't really need a bodyguard anymore since she can take care of herself pretty well

She's a Branch holder too, huh? Or perhaps just into boxing.
>>
>>34946804
I only recently began reading princess guard quest, I don't follow it yet. Reinhold seems like a nice guy to me so far. I mean, better men would've thrown th rpincess off a window by now.

I don't have much of a preference over how dickiah characters should be, it's just that Cecile seems to lack will to actually do shit and take a strong stand. Literally every NPC we have encountered so far is more pro-active (with the exception, maybe, of Mina).
>>
>>34946820
And that is why the picture is so damn accurate. She pretty much just walks around and hands out shotguns to random people on the street.
Doesn't mean I still won't play Joshua as thoroughly devoted to her.
>>
>>34946879

Not shotguns. More like mystery boxes that are almost guaranteed to have something weaponizable with a bit of creativity.
>>
>>34946864
Well... we are CC's will.
>>
>>34946901
That's part of the problem.

Because we are many, only the common ground ideas will ever pass. I'm sure you have ideas that go directly against the decisions I would make but that would lead to interesting story paths. Same for everyone else in this thread. But because the only the agreed upon options pass, we end up only going with the flow, barely altering the world we are in.
And the other thing is: arch would never let us do anything that he judges the character wouldn't do.
>>
>>34946948
Which is why overshone is such an intersting concept. It allows us to break away from the Cecile frame, without breaking character. It gives us some freedom of action, without going through drastic personality changes. If arch didn't come up with plot devices to pull our enemies out of our hands in last second, REMOVE would have reduced our opponents by half now.
>>
>>34946948
If I was running a quest, I wouldn't let characters go contrary to their personalities either. Unless being a psychopath was the character idea.
>>
>>34946980
Characters can change anon, isn't that the whole point of quests, to change based on the choices you made? Of course Cecile suddenly becoming a murderhobo or Theresa gaining common sense overnight would be disruptive. But after all that happened, for us to keep acting the way we did when this quest started would be fairly dissapointing, not to mention boring.
>>
>>34946819

After a while, we find ourselves in front of a large restaurant with a lot of traffic around it. And on top of it is the sign that lets me know that we've finally reached our destination- Bertonelli's. Still holding her hand, I follow Charlotte inside and into the lobby of the restaurant.

"Well, here we are," Charlotte says as she looks around. "This place is pretty busy, huh."
"Yeah," I nod. It's been a whole since I was in a place this crowded.
"I heard that this place is pretty popular among upper-class types, so here's hoping that it lives up to the reputation."

It takes about ten minutes for the guy at the front counter (I think there's a fancy name for those guys, but I dunno what) to get to us. Since I'm not the one who did the reservation stuff, I leave it to Charlotte to take care of things here.

"Good evening, ladies," the guy says.
"And good evening to you," Charlotte replies.
"Hi," I say with a weak wave.
"I assume that you two have a reservation?" he asks. "Because I don't believe that we're going to have any room for non-reserved tables today."
"That won't be a problem, I placed a reservation yesterday," Charlotte shakes her head.
"...yesterday?"

He's looking at her like she's stupid. I kind of want to smack him.

"Yes," Charlotte continues, ignoring the rude glare, "it's under 'Charlotte.'"
"Char... OH," he says, his eyes growing wide. "Y- yes, we'll have a table for you right away!"

I dunno what's going on with that, but I'm not about to complain. And true to his word, the a waiter shows up maybe two minutes later and leads us to a nice corner table in the VIP section of the restaurant. The people who were in front of us in line look kind of pissed, though.

Money talks, I guess.

"This place seems to be pretty nice so far, huh," Charlotte says as she looks over her menu.
"I'll say," I reply. "But I'm holding my final verdict until I actually try the food."

This IS a restaurant, after all.

"So what are you thinking about getting?" I ask.
"I kind of wanted the spaghetti, but the sauce tends to spatter around when I eat it and I don't want to get my dress dirty so I think I'll get the ravioli instead.
"Aw, so you mean we can't get a huge plate and do like those dogs in that one Disney movie?"

I feel kind of dumb for saying it, but I couldn't help myself.

"Of course not, I don't want to make a spectacle of ourselves," Charlotte replies with a nervous laugh. "So what are you going to get?"

"Umm... I guess I'll get the lasagna," I say.

I spotted some people eating spaghetti while we were being walked over here and it definitely looked good, but I don't want to totally disregard what Charlotte said, either. Plus, I haven't had lasagna in a while since Allison doesn't like cooking it because it takes too long.

"Oh, I was thinking ab out getting that too," Charlotte nods. "Would you mind if I tried some of yours when it comes here?"
"Only if you let me try some of your ravioli," I reply.

She's the one paying for it, so it's not like I can say no...

And right after she says that, the waiter shows up at the table. It's almost like he was waiting for that exact moment to take our order... but again, I'm not complaining,. It's a lot better than the usual thing that happens when I'm at a restaurant and the waiter starts nagging us while we're still at the first page of the menu.

The waiter hurries to the back room right after he takes our orders... and now the waiting game begins.

Gradually, my embarrassment at how sappy I am is replaced by annoyance at how slow the service is here. It's been well over 45 minutes and I have yet to see that waiter guy... I guess I should try talking to Charlotte about my feelings and stuff.

"You know," I say, forcing a smile, "you can let me know if I get too annoying, okay? Like with the, umm, underwear stuff, you didn't even get mad at me."
"I already told you that it's okay-"
"I mean it," I shake my head. I'm totally new at this relationship thing, and I don't want to drive you away with my bad habits or acting like a pervert or anything like that."
"Oh," she nods. "Well, um... there's only one thing about you that kind of irked me..."

Please don't say that it's because of my glasses. I hate touching my eyes so I can't wear contacts, and-

"It's not all that big a deal," Charlotte says, shaking her head. "I mean..."
"Sorry for the wait!" the waiter says, cutting her off as he places our food in front of us. "To make up for it, we added extra portions on the house!"
"Oh," I say as I look at the HUGE thing of lasagna that's on my plate. "Well thanks?"
"Yes, thank you," Charlotte joins in.
"Well if you need anything else, just wave me over..."

With that, the waiter hurries off to do waiter things.

"So what's wrong with my texting?" I ask.
"Um..." Charlotte looks around. "...it's nothing, really!" she says with an obviously forced smile. "Don't worry about it!"

Uh, okay?

Since I guess she wants to drop the subject, we start eating our food. Charlotte's taking ladylike bites out of her ravioli, and I'm, well... This stuff is DELICIOUS! I mean, it's all I can do to keep from completely pigging out!

But I'm wearing this dress and I don't want to get it dirty. Not to mention that Charlotte asked me to save some of this for her, and I'd really looks like a jerk if I ate it all anyways even after being given extra portions. And so, I try and pace myself as I eat this delicious, DELICIOUS lasagna.

"Cecile?" Charlotte looks up from her food with an odd expression on her face.
"Hm?" I reply through a mouth filled with cheesey meaty pasta goodness.
"I did have something that I wanted to talk to you about," she says. "And it's kind of important..."

Great, now I'm worried.

"Um..." I say with a wavering voice, "...what about it?"

I'm feeling kind of light-headed. Is this from the guilt?

"Er, I guess the day after that is more relevant," Charlotte says as she takes a bite of ravioli. "Or maybe the day that we first ran into that... Luiza girl..." she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. "She said that she could 'smell' when someone is lying, and I kind of can as well."
"...you can?" I say, gulping.
"And I didn't want to bring it up earlier since I didn't want to scare you- excuse me," she says as she takes a sip of water. "B... back to what I was trying to say..."

Did Charlotte move me to somewhere else after I fainted? Yeah, that seems like the kind of thing that she'd-

WAIT. Charlotte fainted before I did so how the hell would she have been able to...

"Charlotte!?" I call out as I force myself to my knees. "Are you there?"
"Right here," she replies as I feel an arm wrap around my side and pull me close to a familiar scent. "I'm so sorry..."
"Wh..." I shake my head and try to focus my vision. "...what's going on?"
"This is my fault," she replies. "Someone drugged our food, but I couldn't smell anything different..."
"Drugged!?" I gasp.

The shock of hearing that is more than enough to get me fully awake. And then I take a good look at my surroundings... the floor is carpeted and there's a plush-looking bed over in the corner... but it's right across from a toilet and on the other side of the room there's-

"Bars!?"

"Who..." I rub my eyes and look for who just said that... and it's a guy with brown hair and fancy clothes. The lighting is kind of crappy here, but it's still enough for me to see that he's wearing a vest and slacks and why the hell do I care what the hell he's wearing!?
"Who are you, and where the hell are we!?" Charlotte shouts.
"Oh, me?" he points to himself. "I'm just a guy who got caught up in his friends' bullshit," he shrugs. "Luiza reeeeeeeeally hates you, you see..." he sighs. "Her and that cute rabbit of hers are busy fucking in the other room, but I'm sure that she'll be happy to see you once she's through."

"As for where we are right now..." he extends his hand to the cell that the two of us are locked inside. "And as you can see, part of said kinks was this here love dungeon. Nice and fortified too, Luiza herself can't even wreck these bars."
"So this is just for revenge?" Charlotte asks.
"Eh, that's all up to Leo to decide whenever the hell he gets here," the man replies. Every branch they've guessed has been obviously animal power themed.

As opposed to the frankenstein of convenient excuses and plot devices that archelon has made for any of this to have worked?

Either way, both of it is nonsensical, even if you take the stance that everything I'm saying is horseshit shadowruns.

Which I might add, the only way anyone could have known this would have happened is if they started spewing horseshit shadowruns with no basis, so I guess that means that Charlotte is both bad at her job (of even seeing if someone is stalking her) and that archelon was going to have this happen whether we fought against it or not.

If you still think anything about this plan was 'simple', then you have only yourself to blame for it.

All I want for the evil plans is for them to make sense and to play out in a way that allows us some input on fighting them. Random drugs in food when everything surrounding it could have given it away, like how charlotte scouts the places she visits or how she's been scouting the city, or that she has animal characteristics, or that she has a super-large synapse range, or that she should have noticed people shadowing/stalking her beforehand because of her scouting ability.

ALL OF THIS COMBINED is what destroys the idea that this is a 'simple' plan. It's a plan that relies entirely on her stupidity that shouldn't have worked, but did because reasons.

And it's just a poor thing to do in a quest. We can assume Charlotte is an incompetent idiot, but saying anything about this was 'simple' is just buying really hard into some poor rationalization on your part.
>>
>>34949025
Step 1, Have someone poison their food.
Step 2, Wait.
Step 3, collect their bodies.
>>
>>34949025
Anon.

Relax. Take a few deep breaths. Go for a walk.
>>
>>34949025
she did not scout it/it is really easy to drug people and animals/non-powered people did the drugging
>>
>>34949025
While I think the poison on food thing was BS, OP did left a top. We were at a top class place. We are as VIP as one can be. Our food took 50 minutes to get done. Something was fishy there. At the time, I thought he was just giving us time to make conversation before dinner.
>>
>>34949025
But it's a very simple plan. It has like one step, "put poison in pasta". That's about as simple as plans get.

I guess you could count having some people run in and grab us as a second step, but that's pretty obligatory in any kidnapping so it barely counts.
>>
>>34949045
I

I think I should, you're right.

I should just step away from the thread. Maybe come back next thread and just forget the anger and rage I'm feeling.

But before I go, I will say this

>>34949068
We weren't prompted to do anything of this! We weren't given a choice in the matter! It was buried in a 7 part story post dump!
>>
>>34949074
>not having the victims willingfully walk into your dungeon and chain theirselves down
Pleb
>>
>>34949089
Alas, I haven't mastered the fabled "zero-step kidnapping plan".
>>
The worst/best part about all this butthurt is that if I had to capture people with superpowers and the ability to detect other superpowered people AND that I had presumably vast resources spread over the city this is exactly how I would do it.

>>34949084

Relax, we'll have agency when it's time to escape.

James Bond get captured all the time, does that mean he's entirely passive?
>>
>>34949102
A man can dream the impossible dream, no?
>>
>>34949012
We should at least wait until Mr Dude leaves the room before initiating danmaku.

He's still a bit of a wildcard, I don't fancy trying to brute force our way through him when we don't know how laser-resistant he may or may not be.
>>
>>34949084
>buried in a 7-part post dump
Correct, and I agree with you that was a shitty move from OPs part. I disagree with y on it being part of an overly complex plan, OP just magically created some convenient connections for our enemies and gave us mo chance of ever finding out that the place was controlled by the mafia.
>>
>>34949074
It is clearly a three step plan.

See >>34949040
>>
>>34949143
thats a two step plan

"wait" isnt a step
>>
>>34949140
The mafia owning an Italian restaurant isn't anything out of the ordinary.
It's not like we got drugged at a sushi place.
>>
>>34949119
Yes, h's dumb for getting captured so much, and the villains are dumber for not just killing him when they get the chance. He's also an NPC, and so have literally zero agency. We are an NPC as well it seems
>>
>>34949143
Bah, waiting doesn't count unless it's like several hours. For a step to count it has to involve some significant length of time or an action of some sort.

It's an implied step at the very best, they weren't baking a cake.
>>
>>34949025
Step 1, be an entrenched, organized, criminal organization, with non-powered minions working in useful positions, and/or knowledge of who in the city can be bribed/blackmailed. You know, like real life organized criminals.

Step 2, have minions look through some hotel records to find where Charlotte Gauthier is staying.

Step 3, have minion keep an eye on the reservation list of the fancy restaurant nearby the hotel. or bribe the concierge to inform you when she makes a reservations through him.

Step 4, once reservation has been made give minions orders to poison them when they come in.

Step 5, order minions to pick up the girls and take them to your weirdo sex dungeon.

Step 6, ??? ?

Step 7, die due to a sudden and unexpected case of REMOVE.
>>
>>34949156
Without the wait step, you'll need to drag two conscious branch users out of a crowded restaurant.
>>
>>34949195
Stop making sense!
>>
>>34949175
They really didn't even have to own it, they just had to have a single employee on their payroll and have him be somewhat competent.

I mean they could have just ran in and grabbed us, it's not like the wait staff would be able to stop a couple of Brick Hardbeef bruisers. If they wanted to get super complex they could have posed as paramedics or something.
>>
>>34949175
And that had to be the restaurant our girl picked for our first date? Of all the places in town, we go have some dinner on the one that's owned by our worst enemies, that she knew were from the mafia.
>>
>>34949202
no, eliminating "wait" as a step doesnt mean you dont wait

its a natural thing that happens after every step
>>
I hope we still have that flashlight.

1, 2 and 3 were always there
>>
>>34949202
Well I should hope the muscle is smart enough to know that you're only supposed to grab the poisoning victims AFTER they've succumbed to the poison.

If you actually have to specify it as a distinct step in the plan you probably need to fire them and hire smarter muscle.
>>
>>34949202
They were clearly ill and needed medical attention, you were taking them to the hospital.

>Try to grab us
>We laser them

And for the record, we do not play softball with these fucks, not after this. If we get out of this alive, and this guy and his friends aren't dead by that point, then we hunt them down and end them. Whether it's Charlotte politely asking a couple hundred crows to strip Luiza's flesh from her bones, us lasering someone from a klick away, or using Gauthier's connections to get some military hardware so Theresa can leave grenades in their morning cereal.

They do not get to survive this. They will be Removed.

I WOULD agree, but I don't quite think CC is the sort to calmly off people like that. If we start removing Overshine's going to be getting involved and CC is going to be all kinds of broken up about the principle of it afterwards, and that's bad news on the "avoid possession" front.

>>34949472
We could incapacitate them and let Char finish them.

She clearly doesn't have anything against ultraviolence. We can be off vomiting in the corner while she does the dirty work.
>>
>>34949525
Eehhhh, that seems a bit too much like a technicality, at least if it's intentional. Saying "Nah, I don't wanna kill people, you do it babe." would be like Batman saying "Yo, Robin, go push the Joker off that ledge while I angst over my parents."

Of course, if we just disable them and start panicking and Char finishes them off on her own initiative, that ought to work fine. You know, except for the "oh shit the girlfriend I've been lying to this whole time just brutally murdered someone" moment. It takes a pretty secure relationship to handle that sort of thing without one or both parties getting put off. It might be a little soon for us to go "sure you just killed a bitch with your bear hands, but I love you anyway." Like, do we really know her that well yet? Well enough that CC won't say some stupid, panicky shit? I'm not sure.
>>
>>34949592
It's more of a "oh god I can't actually kill a person HRRRRRGHGGPGLGPGGGHHHHHRRRR". Presumably Char would come to the same conclusion and pick up the slack while we repaint the floor stomach juice color.

>oh shit the girlfriend I've been lying to this whole time just brutally murdered someone
We DID see her basically dismantle Luiza's face using a crow as a surgical implement that one time. I mean sure it's a step up from that but it's the same concept.
>>
>>34949625
>I mean sure it's a step up from that but it's the same concept.
And CC's got enough shit on her brain as it is. We don't want to keep stepping shit up right until she cracks and Overshine starts to be a problem. Ounce of prevention and all that.
>>
>>34949625
>It's more of a "oh god I can't actually kill a person HRRRRRGHGGPGLGPGGGHHHHHRRRR".

We tried three times already. I don't think we have that much of a problem with it.
>>
>>34949647
>>34949625

>>34949592
What makes you think that we're Batman and she's Robin to begin with?
>>
>>34949819
>I just hope things start making more sense in the near future.

Not sure what doesn't make sense. Their plan was dirt simple and has been adequately explained. Any confusion is purely you over thinking and/or digging in your heels and ignoring explanations.
>>
>>34949885
Again

It's not the plan, it's the fact that it worked when all these factors were working against them.

It paints charlotte to either be really incompetent or for all of this to be an act of plot convenience. I have doubts if charlotte is that much of a dumb bint to let this happen in the first place.
>>
>>34949932
There really weren't many factors working against them at all.

Bad guys, for the most part, do not walk around dressed like Dick Dastardly for anyone to spot them.
>>
>>34950018
>Bad guys, for the most part, do not walk around dressed like Dick Dastardly for anyone to spot them.

If charlotte can't notice people stalking and spying on her when she has the best counterspy powers imaginable, then she's fucking incompetent.
I'm sorry, I'm never changing my opinion on that.
>>
>>34950037
>>34949932
>>34949819

To clarify, I won't quit the quest over it, but I'm not going to trust Charlotte ever again to do anything if this is what we can expect.
I'm almost thinking we should crawl back to theresa about the kaito thing.
>>
just wondering, do we have Mina's torch?
if we do, we can go full REMOVE easily
>>
>>34950037
>best counterspy powers imaginable

What? She has birds and a good nose. If they're using electronic surveillance she's no more likely to detect it than any other normal human. Knowing what restaurant someone is making reservations at is hardly a major intelligence coup.
>>
>>34950104
She can talk to animals, and they're everywhere.

Not even going to continue that argument if all you can say about it is "Well her powers suck anyway!"
>>
>>34950127
But she can't talk to all the animals, all the time. She has to talk to the right animals who were in the right place at the right time, just like you have to talk to the right people who were in the right place at the right time if you want to learn something from humans.

You want her to be some sort of omniscient god who can just pluck information from thin air.
>>
>>34950127
You know the enemies probably didn't put on their mad alchemist goggles and drag a bubbling cauldron of caustic goo through the service entrance, right?
>>
>>34950166
She can talk to animals, they're everywhere, and she can see through their eyes.

Again, how is that not one the best counterspy powers imaginable, and how would she not notice that she was being stalked with the same powers?

This isn't even wanting her to be omnipotent, this is wanting her to have basic awareness when she's in a city that she knows has an active mafia presence, and she's been attacked before.
>>
>>34950201
>She can talk to animals, they're everywhere, and she can see through their eyes.
And she has to know which animals to talk to, and she can only see through the eyes of her familiars, AND the animals actually have to know what they're looking for. The bad guys didn't just march in with WE R MAFIA badges stapled to their faces.

>>34950201
>Again, how is that not one the best counterspy powers imaginable, and how would she not notice that she was being stalked with the same powers?
It is a good counterspy power. Against boots-on-the-ground spying. They didn't need to do that to find out her dinner plans, they could have done that with a wiretap on either end of the phone lines, or a someone in the restaurant tipping them off, and that's not even getting into the fact that they're also magic.

You're asking the impossible.
>>
>>34950243
And again, the only way any of these plans work is if we make loads of assumptions of their capabilities. Which is why I was so pissed off earlier.

Now we're to the point where we're arguing assumptions. Assumptions about the story, about the characters we know nothing about, about the story, about the circumstance.

And that's just silly.
>>
>>34950270
>And again, the only way any of these plans work is if we make loads of assumptions of their capabilities.

Yes, I will make the leap and assume the mafia has upgraded from the "shady guy in trench coat tailing you" method of information collection. I am perfectly confident in that "assumption".
>>
>>34950243
>>34950270
Also I hardly count 'asking the impossible' to be 'have basic situational awareness in a city that you know loads of branch users are in and not scouting ahead of time to ensure that you wouldn't be ambushed when that is your job and your power."

I'm not asking the impossible, I'm asking her to have a little bit of common fucking sense and to treat this seriously. We know CC isn't going to treat it seriously, so it's really up to Charlotte.
>>
>>34950284
And I say: you're upgrading their capability far too much.
It's not a guy in a trenchcoat, but gangstalking, an informational network, espers who can see from afar? That's a load of heavy assumptions. Especially vs the person who is supposed to have counters to most of that shit.

>>
>>34950305
Not really.

All they need is one guy in the restaurant bribed to give them access to the reservations list.

That is hardly a stretch for the mafia. It would probably be more shocking if they DIDN'T have at least one person paid off in every establishment in the city where the rich and important might be likely to show up.
