Continuing from
>>34974670

As a 29 yrs old chemical engineer, the suddenness of your death by airplane crash seemed like a terrible injustice.

Well, children are still kept as slaves in Nestlé chocolate (cocoa) plantations all over Ivory Coast in Africa, so, you know, it depends on who you ask.

But, the next thing you knew was a kind pair of hands welcoming you to the light of your new life. And what a life it is!

Not only did you get to keep the memories of your last life, but you were reborn to a word of swords and sorcery, the likes of you always dreamt of.

Who wants to work 40-70 hours a week when you can be a mighty wizard throwing lightning bolts at an evil dragon, or a whitwe knight bitchslapping the evil overlord off his throne?

Your parents were retired adventurers, living in a small countryside village with a cutesy elf maid, and when you showed up the ability to use magic while laying on your crib, they thought their child was a progidy.

Well, your dad did. Your mom was really worried at first but changed her ming over time.

When war erupted in the southern border, dad had to join in on the nation's defense, and mom moved the family to the east, to the magocratic city state of Albion, which was

1 - Not at war with a massive ancient empire
2 - Known for being impregnable thanks to its location and well trained military of warrior mages
3 - The place where she studied magic, and where she was offered a position as teacher and lecturer.

Currently, we are almost 9 years old. We joined a party (we are keeping that a secret from mom), started earning money like no 9 years old should have a right to thanks to our knowledge on basic chemistry, and bought off a slavegirl to be our lovely new sister.

Currently, we are inside the city of Albion's easten dungeon's 12th floor boss room, where we just defeated a hydra-plant-dragon hybrid thing and got a large treasure chest.

You talk with Miiyau and Grummir for a bit, explaining to them what you need them to make, and who you need them to make it for.

"Yes, she's a slave, but she's part of my family! I want something as nice as you can make. Think of them as if they were for Miiyau!"
"Oh, so spiked and rough at the edges?"
"You are myan, nya!" ~she nags at him
"Don't get your fur in a ruffle, you know I'm joking! Alright, I´ll work on something so nice, you'd think they were for a nomad princess!"
"Thanks. How much will it be?"
"How much do you have?"
"..."
"I'm serious, I can make them out of gold, obsidian and enchanted crystal if you want me to. What's your budget for these things?"

You currently have 275g 500s and 80c

How much do you want to spend on this?
By the way, you also have almost a pound of ambar

What kind of slots do these offer?
Can any of these materials hold enchants better?

Considering the normal money curve in RPGs.
150-200, maybe? How ridiculous is that?
>>

what kind of enchantment would be on the enchanted crystal? and would it stop okaba from altering it.

any bonuses any of these have, or are they purely aesthetics?
>>

And if you're going to answer these. If it even matters, can you price each one for us please.
>>
>>34986048
>How much do you want to spend on this?
Don't go above 200gold

We still need to forge 2 chess sets from amber and buy cards to enchant that spear with.
>>
>>34986052
oh right I forgot about that bit. Ill type that while you guys decide how much you want to spend on these things

Grummir tells you that he works by task. People ask him to make something and he makes it. The shop may not be pretty, but it is exclusive

He just has those things hanging at the front because most folks cant read, but they know that cuffs, chains and tools are made at a smithy.

"I thought you said this place was exclusive"
"It is"
"Then why do you need those?"
"I dont want to spend money on a street sign, happy?"
"Alright"

You explain to them about your new neighbor. They don't seem very concerned

"But if you nyad us to hide the body, we an gate it into the dungeon, nya!"
"Don't say such things, you furball, what if he takes it seriously? Look, eldric, it is a free city. If he wants to flirt with your family members, he can. You should sit the lot of them and just tell them you don't like it. You're the man of the house, right? just stomp your foot down and be form about it"

***
Purely Aesthetic, but the higher the amount of work invested, the more slots an item seems to have.
>enchanted crystal, what does it do?
It's hard and flexible as steel, won't break as easy
>>
>>34986048
50 G maybe?
>>
>>34986160
They cost however much you want to spend. If you say you spend 10g, I'll describe them as pretty and of high quality, while 200g it's really fit for a queen

>>34986183
You also need crystal for the other 16 pieces of the set
So far
200g +
60g +
>>
>>34986265
can we get these items cursed-enchanted by obaka later? I assume they'll also have item slots.

150-200. Lyann's going to be wearing these forever afterall.
>>
>>34986325
200 is aceptable
>>
>>34986338
IF she chooses too. We agreed to tell her about the curse options and inquire as to whether or not she's cool with that.

It is power, though at a price. We must learn if she's willing to pay it.
>>
>>34986265
also, ask where we can get some crystal for making that chess set.
>>
>>34986265
Friends dont call the cops, best friends help you hide the body. Miiyau a bro
>>
>>34986380
Then i'd rather hold on getting super high quality items for lyann if we're not going to get them enchanted.

The reason it's super nice is because she'll be wearing it forever.
>>
>>34986325
I can agree to this.
200G for her enchanted crystal. She will be wearing it for years to come.
and crystal chess board/pieces.
>>
200g ++
150-200g+
50g+

The amount of slots is relative to the amount of effort the artisan pours into it. How long do you want him to take on them? for 200g, he's willing to pour his pride as an artisan into them

>>34986389

Grummir: "Well, I was going to get crystal for these cuffs of you anyway. Want me to go with you to this shop I know?"

Thankfully, in this world you can take materials and use a craftsmen skill to shape them, so you can buy "ingots" of crystal and then turn them into whatever you need them to be.

* Give the money to Grummir and let him buy the crystal for the cuffs and the chess pieces, ask him for the ingots tomorrow after your dungeon run
* Go with him now
* Go back home.
* Talk a bit more with Kalkah, ask her about her homeland.
* Also ask her how she ended up as a slave
>>
>>34986380
Lyann's not going to be paying a copper.
She's our slave/sister. We want her to have the best she will likely be fine with the cursed item. that leaves her ageless. And considering it's enchanted crystal, we could put a few more enchants like she can resist most poisons and if possible ask her what she would like on her collar.
>>
>>34986265
"But if you nyad us to hide the body, we an gate it into the dungeon, nya!"

"So, you made it past minions, nya! Well, that's just purrfect, nya! now you have to deal with m- is that a ball of yarn, nya?!"
Not Miiyau
>>
>>34986610
I don't think we want to slap an ageless enchant on her till she's done with puberty. We want her to grow up I hope.

there we go

You hand the money to Grummir, and bid him farewell until tomorrow.

"Take care, and be safe, nya!"

You start walking back with Kalkah, who is much more quiet now after watching you spend 250gold on jewelry for a slavegirl

"Did I upset you?"
"Uhmm? oh! no, no! I just... that's more money than I was worth, that's all. You must really love this girl, right?"
"I do, she's previous to me."
"I see" ~she smiles a little, and seems to calm down
"You are wrong, too"
"About what?"
"You are priceless, too! you are a nice person!"
"My, aren't you a charmer" ~she smooches the top of your head. She is used enough to humans that she knows you to be a chuld
"Can I ask you about... yuo know...?"
"I suposse..."
"So?"
"You can ask" ~she says with a little smile
"Aww"
"Alright... it's not a fancy story, however. There's neither a great tragedy nor evil kidnappers involved. I'm from a nomad tribe that roams between here and the eastern shore, all the way across the continent. My clan nad a bad encounter with some raiders, and needed the money for medicine. There's plenty of male warriors in the clan, so the elders did what they had to do, and sold me to some slave traders for 12 gold. The son of the lady that owns the fruit shop bought me with the money he got when he signed up for the commonwealth's army so his mother wouldn't be alone, and left."
"No bad guys? I think your tribe was the bad guys!"
"No, it was neccessary."
"You aren't collared, right? why don't y-"
"I wouldn't escape. It is a matter of pride. The spirits told the ancestors I had to be sold, so they obeyed. Who am I to disobey?"

bleh, which is why we need to enchant and sell the spear, so we don't completely go broke.

At least we can buy some soap ingredients for 5g and make 250g. We need to if we're going to spend money like this.
>>
caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaards...
>>
>>34987303
We need to think bigger than soap. Maybe start making Baking Soda. More of a market for it, cleans them clothes, cleans the house, cleans a bunch of shit, aside from other useful properties.
>>
>>34987145
It have two cards all really. right?
>>
>>34987396
Not big enough, right now we're still a kid. So selling soap is fine. When we grow up we need to make a name for ourselves, right now the most we should do is create some things and sit on them for awhile.
>>
>>34987396
we can also just make bleach.
plenty of slaves with be hurt and it will cause more than a few deaths. cause you know people won't have the caution even when we tell them.
But hey they will have clean cloths.
Or we can do baking soda, and then introduce bleach as baking soda 2.0 for cloths only.
Or just make tooth paste. since im sure hygiene isn't the best in this era. and these things will make nobles buy this shit by the ass load.
>>
>>34987277
We are so buying her
>>
>>34987404
no, just two empty card slots.
>>
>>34987277
Can we use card enchantments and curse-enchantments on the same item?
>>
>>34987484
And after we have all of the money... I havent thought that far ahead
>>
>>34987495
actually the spear has 3 empty card slots
>>
>>34987491
Yup, but we need to keep a look out for that SOB!
>>
>>34987484
not big enough for what...
we should focus on making several businesses now. And make a time skip for about 2 years. we will be swiming in money. With doing dungeons thrown into the mix.
starting from level 1 if we go in with Lyann so she can get experience. till she can be a valuable member of our party.
Twice a week with our regular party and once a week with lyann.
for a time skip of 2 years. im sure we will get income from that and a few levels.
>>
>>34987277

Well, with our modern worls way of thinking, we can't agree with her.

A beautiful, brown colored elf girl for 12g ir was too cheap.

She's loyal, too!

It's way too cheap, it really is!

You bid her farewell once you walk by the fruit stand again, and stop by an adventurer's shop.

You currently have 25g 500s and 80c

You find a [Ghost Card]. That would give the Mana Drain ability to the spear, Ir sells for 6g

Having spent yourself almost out of gold, you make your way back home.

Danren is helping your mom install the enchanting platform. He's all sweaty and half naked, wearing just a pair of pants as he holds a shovel on his left hand.

"She also gave me a smile. That's worth a small kingdom or two!" ~he says with a small laugh
"Well, it's nice to have a grown man around the house. Between Ellizabeth, Athena, Lyann and myself, Eldric has nothing but women around him. And with his chess club and all the time I have him studying, I was worried he wouldn't receive enough bumps and bruises for a healthy childhood."
"Uh? bu het... I see. Well, I need to wash myself now. It was nice speaking to you, madam"

What a fucking waste of time. Also, betting the healer is Danred.
>>
>>34988685
Perhaps not on screen, and it doesn't have to be done very often. For example, we made a child like statement to Lyann to explain why we wanted to buy her, failing to mention that we actually know what they do to sexy slavegirls once they're old enough. Or when we stroke the elf ears. We're getting off, but we present an innocent face by saying we just think they're pretty.

It's a cover, people find out the truth they'll think us a freak or worse.

They'd be right, too. We should have shown restraint, we're fucking 29 years old. But no, /tg/ can't keep in their pants even when there's no sex hormones running through our body's veins yet.
>>
>>34988613
>"Yup! we even got an actual healer, nya!
Our bodyguard bishop arrives.

Actually, I think I like this guy.

We have to talk to him about who sent him here, but if he's willing to support us, then I think we can be straight with him.
>>
>>34988739
Then this is a chance for him to earn points. He keeps quiet about this, we can start to trust him. He tattles and we like him even less.

>>34988787
Again, cover. It's for the family's sake too, little incidents like that assuage the fears that their little boy isn't really a little boy. Think of poor Elli, she'd freak if she knew she was bathing naked with a mature man.

You look around, startled. You just know that it is him.

"Hey there, nice to meet you!"

It is another dwarf.

Ah, that's good. For a second there, you were sure it would be that guy-

"Hey, champ" ~now that's a familiar voice

Yes, this time it is him.

He's walking around with another group. He's with another 3 humans.

"..."
"Whoah, champ, calm down, you may just actually shoot daggers at me!"
"I don't have to talk with you."
"No, I suppose you don't. I just wanted to make sure you were around with good people, you know?"
"What is it to you?"
"Well, it is a rather important matter, after all. You are my best friend's son, and all."

His companions call him away, so he gives you a "see you later, champ!" and goes away with them.

Your new party member is called Ardkill. Now that he joins your party, you can tell that he's a Herbalist level 6/Villager level 26.

He's wearing a good-looking, reinforced leather armor, and wields a morningstar and a round shield.

Ardkill: "Nice to meet you. The guy's been tellg wonders about you."

Which classes do we have on?
Do we have Athena or Lyann in the party?
>>
>>34989016
Let's put Ranger on. We'll be the party's scout.

As for party...let's just stick with the few we have. If we're doing a time skip, keep inviting Lyann until she joins in on her own, or not.

All the classes, just incase we need to sneak.

Lyann is in party, but not athena.

Right, cover time.

The current cover is a kid who's worried about his dad, and in denial about worry, and is therefor hostile towards any new 'father figure' entering the scene because he has one.

His maturity, his coldness, his determination and simply uncharacteristic (for a child) focus and all that is just him trying to live up to the standard of his dad.

This is a system with flaws we must play into when the opportunity arises. Not when it's costly, but just to keep this from being a numbers game.

People remain in the party and share in experience no matter the distance between them. Allowing people to send servants to fight for them while staying at home to collect xp.

I'd like to include Lyann, I want her to be a scion before she hits 35.

...wut?

Lyann is going to be adventuring with us. she also needs to get to lvl 10 dancer so we can switch her to something else.

Athena is the one that shouldn't be in the party. No matter how hilarious it would be for the 2 year to start making accelerated stat gains for no discernable reason.

Anyway, lets stop for now. I have about 15 minutes before I go to bed. Trying to regularize my schedule

So, any questions?

By the way, Kalkah is a Cratsmen 2/Slave 2 with Barbarian 15/Nomad 15 currently off
>>
>>34989224
Guys I don't really know why you want ranger on.. I guess for sneak.. but we should really need it.

We've a tank and a healer. and two attackers.
We can go full on healer knight, or Healer Wizard. and do our thing. or just all three.
but ranger atm would be a bit of a waste. + we have our sister in the party so less exp. and possibly having lyann in the party to.

>Guys I don't really know why you want ranger on
It's because they can't pay attention for more than a single thread, and always forget the long term plan.
Or the fact that we can just turn Ranger on and off at will if we need to do a bit of sneaking versus when we actually get into a pitched fight.
>>
>>34989406

>>
>>34989406
Have both Lyann and Athena in our party.
Not giving Athena that extra bit of XP and Bonus Points to work with, when there is a fucking war going on just west of us, is just stupid.

Sure, Albion has stayed neutral so far, but the Empire is unlikely to stop at Albion's borders.
>>
>>34989531
Sad fact is there's no way we can afford to buy every slave we come across. We must be wise in our acquisitions, every purchase must bring something to the table.

>>34989574
She's 2, when she's around our age sure, let her get some exp, until then we have more immediately useful assets that need a boost (like Lyann). More people in on the take means everyone gets less. That's just how it goes.
>>
>>34989531
>How much would it cost to buy kalkah
You know that she's the only one helping her owner, because her owner's son got drafted and her husband is dead, right?
You want to deprive a woman of someone who's helping to keep her afloat and independent during this time? When it's likely her son is dead, seeing as how our old kingdom was getting the shit beat out of it?
>>
>>34989564

>>
>>34989619
>You want to deprive a woman of someone who's helping to keep her afloat and independent during this time?
I want to know how much she costs.

It seems to be some combination of level and stats.

either lyann is overpriced or wizard levels really inflate the cost compared to barbarians.
>>
>>34989660
I think it's more that her tribe didn't know the prices very well or haggled like shit.
>>
>>34989497
>what kind of enchantments would okaba be able to put on the crystal bracelets for lyann?

Well, if you don't want them to be cursed, probably elemental resistance OR extra armor, which is good because she cant wear armor atm

Each minor curse is 2 relatively minor enchantments or a sligthly more powerful one

As for curses, all I can think off the top of my head is
* Cant lie to you
* Cant disobey an order whe specifically ordered not to

But those are just examples. If you can think other stuff, im all ears

>Also, how many card slots is 'pride of the artisan' 200g bracelets going to have?

Depends on how long you want to wait until they're ready, I think. Pretty much up to 3 slots if we wait 2-3 months

They will use the bracelets slots
If you want them to also use the (magical) boots slot, we can assume that as a set they have 6 slots
She can still wear shoes, just not magical ones

>>34989531
You need to talk about it with her master, but I imagine that not much.
She's a barbarian, so she doesn't knows how to read or write
No real useful skills (for civilized lands)
May or may not be a virgin

I imagine 20g? probably a bit more since the old lady that owns her is keeping her as her only company AND shes good for business

How are you going to sell the idea to your mom, tho? this is not a cute little girl you are buying, it's a grownup, sexy dark elf

>>34989531
No, just another teacher
>>
>>34989629
>Wrong quote moron. He wasn't saying jack about jobs, though it's true.

Read the thread before you post retard.

the classes we have on wiz/knight/healer/noble/ranger/scion cut our xp 5 ways. cutting off ranger makes it 4 ways.

That quote was just what I needed and factually correct.
>>
>>34989737

>>
>>34989574
>Not giving Athena that extra bit of XP and Bonus Points to work with, when there is a fucking war going on just west of us, is just stupid
I don't think a 2 year old will be leading any charges. even in the next 5 years Athena will be near useless.
A 7 year old won't have the mental capacity it takes to defend them self from a being attacking them. Worst to happen would be elli and our mother would defend her. And if our mother can't defend her with some back up don't think to many people will be able to.

Point being it's retarded to limit our self now to give exp to a 2 year old.
>>
>>34989660
>I want to know how much she costs
I'd say around 20g. She's just level 2, illiterate, etc etc
You only have her word that she's also loyal and unwilling to run away, and a slave's word isin't worth much from the market's point of view

>>34989697
this is valid

>>34989772
true
>>
>>34989772
>Scion doesn't count for XP costs actually.

wiz/knight/healer/noble/ranger/scion

note that I listed 6 classes while saying this only split xp 5 ways...
>>
>>34989660
Then ask how slave costs are calculated. Ask it directly, instead of asking a question which leads to trying to buy Kalkah.
>>
>>34989709
Is that in addition to being unable to remove the item once equipped unaided? Because what it sounds like is that it also entails certain "bans" for the person wearing it as well. Like being unable to enter a house unless invited, being unable to step on cracks in the street, or being incapable of speaking to strangers unless spoken to. I could go more extreme if you'd like, but obviously the bigger the sacrifice one makes one would assume they get a larger pay off.

Much like a deal with a Demon in WoD, the more you give, the more you get. Only one real question, how much are you willing to sacrifice for power?
>>
>>34989619
Hell if we pay her appropriately we're not depriving her of anything apparently she can buy several slaves for what we're probably willing to pay.
>>
>>34989808
Buying Kalkah was a possibility I was considering but I was only inquiring about her price for the moment.

If the old woman doesn't like it, then she doesn't have to sell. Making your objection pointless. We can't exactly leave the old woman without slave unless she agrees.
>>
>>34989893
>>34989905
why do you guys want to buy a full grown woman. to cloth and feed. when we have no use for them.
Eveery slave we come across is not a charity case.
Heck even Lyann wasn't in the worse position. She was owned by her parents peers, and she didn't have a collar. She wasn't being beaten or anything like that.
Some people just have to get their heads out of their asses. That is if I am correct, I don't think her parents friends/peers chipped in the money to buy the little girl and collectively rape and beat her.
>>
>>34989905
The objection is to even bringing the subject up to the old woman in the first place.
Regardless of her refusing the offer, it'd still be seen by the people around us as being needlessly crass to even ask an old woman to part with her caretaker.
>>
>>34989967
Because slavery is awful and although we may be an adult... we're still an... eight... year old? I think at the moment.
>>
>>34990011
...and yet it was never brought up that we should ask the old woman.

Only what her cost was.

The whole beat and rape game for slaves is actually a bad idea from the perspective of sheer business. Virgins are worth more, and bruises detract from beauty, and nobody likes to see a girl with empty eyes on the auction block. People want healthy, strong, competent, beautiful slaves. Smart slave owners increase the quality without damaging the overall product. Capitalism is a very compassionate system, even if the reasons aren't entirely noble or compassionate themselves.
>>
>>34989808
Well, on broad strokes

Slave level. Many slave jobs are dependant on slave level for potency
Literate?
Civilized? can s/he fit in a normal enviroment?
Violent?
Virgin?
Healty?

In Kalkah's case...
Slave level: 2 She's not been a slave for too long, and selling apples is not a very rewarding job. Experience-wise

Lyann was level 7

Literate? No

Lyann was a wizard.

Civilized? can s/he fit in a normal enviroment? Barbarian, so not really equipped for most civilized tasks a domestic slave may be used for

Lyann was a villager. And a wizard (yes I think this would count twice in her favor)

Violent? barbarian

Lyann was a little girl, a very meek little girl

Virgin? Who knows

Healty? Her tribe was selling off injured warriors. The slavers probably had to patch her up

>>34989875
Yes
> it also entails certain "bans" for the person wearing it as well
Yes

>those bans
shes not a vampire, and if they're too inconsequential, they wouldnt have any power to loan to the item. They need to be somewhat relevant

>obviously the bigger the sacrifice one makes one would assume they get a larger pay off.
Exactly

>>34989967
>no use for them.
You COULD make her busy crafting soap and chess pieces .A real slave doing slave work, insteaf of leeching off Elli's kindness. You could also, if you trust her enough, leave her at home watching Lyann/Athena and take Elli into our dungeon runs, or viceversa

But yeah, you will come across slaves from time to time, and most of the ones roaming around inattended in cities will be rather sweet females who arent considered violent or dangerous by their owners
>>
>>34990045
mother fucker. I won't be bothered to pick up every slave we see.
This era has likely more slaves than there is available money. Wasting time caring for each and everyone will be a big issue. honestly leave.
Slavery is not good = Slavery is bad. Everyone understands that point. But shit happens we can't spend day and night worrying about other people's problems.
We should be focusing on getting battle ready. and our close companions to be able to defend them selves.

ALSO guys as a note just because Lyann's a dancer doesn't mean she can't be an attacker. She has trained as a wizard and better yet, she has gained a rare skill by practicing with us. Chant less spells.
>>
>>34990090
No, I was just using Vampires as a kind of baseline for bans. The more extreme ones would be a sort of compulsion. Again using vampires, feeling discomforted, pained by, be weakened by direct sunlight significantly, being unable to cross running water, or being VERY allergic to garlic would be something rather major and thus land you a huge payoff. But then it also becomes rather obvious that you are either a vampire or wearing a very powerful cursed artifact.

Power has a price. Always has, always will. Those who attain great power have sacrificed something. The most common one is time and effort. Shortcuts exist, to get more than the standard sacrifice would merit, but the question always remains. Was it worth it?
>>
>>34990090

The obvious thing to do is depending on how much products we can produce, 'purchase' slaves and treat them as employee's/indentured servants.

You train them in a job, pay them a decent wage and they produce what goods as time goes on. Eventually after a 5 or 10 year period, you set them free with a severance and see if they want to continue working for you or not. If they do and they have the right outlook, they are perfect to take over as additional management.

Earn there loyalty and the loyalty of the work force by being able to point out success stories.

You can't change society away from slavery without a movement. You can humanize it if you employee it yourself.
>>
>>34990090
>> it also entails certain "bans" for the person wearing it as well
can these curses be 'penalties' instead of 'bans'?

Instead of barring someone from lying it might give them a large penalty to bluff or make it difficult to hide?
>>
>>34990168
>ALSO guys as a note just because Lyann's a dancer doesn't mean she can't be an attacker
BUT she can't cast Wizard spells unless she has the Wizard Job turned on (this would be another reason why Hybrid Jobs are valuable; they allow for two different sets of skills to be usable at once, a very important ability for people limited to only 1 Active Job and 1 Active Class).
She'll need to get Scion before she can have Dancer and Wizard both on at the same time.

And if we turn Wizard on so she can cast Wizard spells, then Dancer won't get any XP.
>>
>>34990090
>You COULD make her busy crafting soap and chess pieces .A real slave doing slave work, insteaf of leeching off Elli's kindness
This could be really sweet, but instead of getting again a barbarian, I'd rather get a small young literate girl. Have her work on the soaps. Fed and cloths her, have her doing all the work and put on a collar on her. same as listening to us and not lying.
but obviously if business is booming, upgrade her things every now and then. * nice cloths an enchanted crystal collar the works so long as she is doing what she needs to.*

70/30, our way. We had the idea, we gave her the technique, without us none of that money would have ever flowed her way. Give the devil his due, and we are due a good amount. Her cut is rather generous BTW. We *could* have done it all ourselves, MC is a chemical engineer from his previous life, this shit is literal child's play. But, economics. Division of labor. We come up with the ideas and get the materials, our employees do the dirty work of putting them into practice. More shit gets done that way. More shit getting done=more people getting what they want=higher living standards for everyone involved. Don't like it, take it up with the gods, shit works this way for a reason.

>>34990090
mist enslaved males will be doing field work. Mining, farming, fishing and stuff like that, so you will probably see mostly females as long as you stay in the city.

>>34990193
I dont think you could induce allergy to a substance.
A heavy mental block against crossing running water... I can see that working, tho

>>34990221
Well, she's a young elf. Its not like she will become a wrinkled old lady in the time it takes us to become independent enough to start our own business/factory and start buying slaves to work on it, with much better conditions than they would get practically anywhere else.

If you want to get all moral about it, it could be a "work 6-10 years and you're free" thing. Would need to be careful on who we get into the factory since the default punishment for criminals is slavery in many civilized places of this world.

Even so, commonly, criminals WILL be collared.

As I read your post, I noticed you too thought 5-10 years

Rome slavery system? educate/civilize them and then release them?

>>34990243
>penalties' instead of 'bans'?
it would have to be a big penalty to some relevant action

>>34990267
Check the courtesan.

I also thought about making a sort of "holy slave" for the nomads since primitive tribes often would steal women from eachother, and in many cases, treat them better than more civilized society. I assume everyone here is familiar with stories of white women NOT wanting to be rescued from their native american kidnappers

In the end decided against it so the jclass system wouldnt get too confusing
"So shes a nomad AND a slave?"

Courtesan has heavier effects, but maybe I should buff dancers? I'd like some input about that

Dancer ~ Note to self: probably need a better way to set the DCs
+2 Dex
+1 Con
+5 App

+12 HP
+6 MP

+1 1h weapons

(A) Dance (4MP): Your dance affects all enemies* within 100” with one of the following effects**:
Targets can't move and attack in the same turn for 3 turns.
Targets cannot run or charge for 3 turns.
Targets have a -30 to all weapon skills for as long as you dance in place.
Targets have a -30 to Elemental and Divine skills for as long as you dance in place.

(P) Slippery: If you haven't acted this turn yet, You may take your turn after being attacked. Moving in this manner does not automatically end your dance.
Armor Proficiency: None
Weapon Tricks: Defensive
*Enemies must be able to see you
**DC is App + ½ dancer level (rounded up). The enemy resists with a Wis or Cha roll, whichever is higher.

Thief ~ I need to come up with a cleaner way for jobs to “inherit” the stealing abilities of its prerequisite jobs than listing everything again. Or perhaps its fine. /tg/ users are pretty smart, I probably don't need to dumb down things for them.
+1 Str
+5 Dex
+2 Con

+15 HP

+1 1h weapons
+1 ranged weapons

(A) Steal: You can attempt to steal* items your enemy possess
Gold – Steals (thief level) coins**
Inventory Item
Weapon
Armor
(P) Sharp Blade (Elves Only): +5% critical chance.
(P) Burglar's Eye: Can tell which (if any) items the target possesses.
Item box: Equal to your class level.
Armor Proficiency: Light
* % of success is (Damage % taken by the target + Thief level – Target level). If a level 10 target has 100 max hp and has taken 90 damage, it would be (90% + thief level – 10 ) as chances of success.
** Type of coins depend on target's level.
Copper from lvl 1 to 20
Silver from 21 to 50
Gold from 51 onwards.
>>
>>34990467
>Check the courtesan.
Is that only for the Courtesan, or does that affect all Jobs?
Because previously you had said that turning off Wizard would make us incapable of casting spells.
>>
>>34990467

Most slavery we would encounter in towns would be debt or criminal based slavery.

Debt slavery, working it off as an indentured servant type system, including training and education for when they are released, as long as we have enough profit margin works well. As a benefit we end up creating a work force both loyal and those that leave will look on us and our family positively.

If we encounter the great estates of the nobility we are more likely to see serfs or true chattel slaves like it is thought of, those in the Pre-civil war American south.

The other source of slavery would of course be from war. The conquored lands would be enslaved and sold depending on the victors.

Slavery cannot be eliminated without either a massive movement or war. Most European Peasants moved from slaves to serfs to freemen through Peasant uprisings that included massive death on both sides. Whole families of nobility being killed root and branch, hundreds of thousands of dead peasants.

Only other way is if the price of labor spikes in a way that makes people able to buy their freedom. Without an industrial or magical/industrial revolution the only way that happens is massive death, black plague or small pox at it's worst type.

How about you find me a single personal account from a slave about how "compassionate" it is?

Another major one could be not liking to use a certain syllable in speech. Or being unable to swear. Sounds minor, but that depends on where you hang out. Being unable to say "motherfuckas", or at least making it very hard to do, can actually work against you. Of course, this assumes the curses factor in personal circumstances. One man's curse is another person's blessing from a certain point of view.

I was being extra nice because she's so close to us. If that wasn't there the 80/20 (know the name of the law that can be reduced to 80/20 that I'm kinda referring to and I owe you a gold star), or 90/10 would be my offer.

Also, gotta spend money to make money. Us buying makes the slaves more cooperative. Imagine if the taxes weren't taken out of your paycheck. Yeah, looks and actually is a hell of a lot bigger now isn't it? Happy workers are busy workers. Again, capitalism is a very good system, even if it's for all the "wrong" reasons.

Courtesan ~ Almost certainly need to balance it better. But this is just a rough idea right now. It gets ½ as much hp as the vanilla dancer and about 1/3 as much as the thief and doesnt has the thief skill to see which items a target has, after all, so may be ok? Must remember to ask /tg/ for help on it
+2 Dex
+1 Con
+4 App

+6 HP
+6 MP

+1 1h weapons

(A) Dance (4MP): You can use the dancer's Dance* skill.
(A) Seduction (4MP): You can afflict all enemies adjacent to you with one of the following effects:
Cannot leave your side.
1/10th of its max hp as damage at the end of their turn. (You heal by this much if you are a Majin)
These effects end if you attack them, move away from them, stop dancing, or they move away from you, but not if you use a skill.
(A) Steal: You can use the thief's Steal skill*.
(P) Plunder: You can also use the Steal ability to steal:
Amulets
Bracelets
Earrings
Rings
(P) Smitten: Enemies adjacent to you cannot use attacks against you**. This effect ends if you attack them, but not if you use a skill or defensive weapon trick.***
Item box: Equal to your class level
Armor Proficiency: None
* Using your slave levels instead of your dancer or thief levels wherever required.
% of success is (Damage % taken by the target + Slave levels – Target class levels). If a level 10 target has 100 max hp and has taken 90 damage, it would be (90% + Slave level – 10 ) as chances of success.
When stealing coins, target's level determines their type.
Copper from lvl 1 to 20
Silver from 21 to 50
Gold from 51 onwards.
** Enemies can try to attack you with a Wisdom or Charisma check vs a DC of (your App + ½ your Slave levels).
*** Notice that they can still use spells and skills, tho, so for example a Rogue can Mug you to death. If you defend yourself with Parry → Riposte, however, it doesn't counts as interrupting your dance. You can also use Arrow/Spell Break → Riposte in the same way.

>I need to come up with a cleaner way for jobs to “inherit” the stealing abilities of its prerequisite jobs than listing everything again
What you need to do is explicitly state whether a Job inherits the skills and abilities of Jobs below it in the tree.
Also whether abilities get grayed out if their Job gets turned off.

Modern slavery is a brutal brutal institution that dehumanizes people.

Depending on the cultural, slavery in the past went from chattel less then human slavery to having enforced laws that actually specified rights for slaves, along with responsibilities and treated it as a contract.

Most of the time however it was a debased slavery. A lot of ancient wars involved killing all the men or selling them into slavery and bringing the women back as mistress's/sex slaves.

Slavery? Compassionate? My good sir, you misunderstand me. I never once claimed it was nice. I'm saying that, if the slavers were any kind of smart, they'd be nice to their slaves and damn near pamper them.

They almost always aren't, criminals tend to be terminally stupid. You'll notice I said stupid, not ignorant. There is a difference. Ignorance can be cured, stupidity cannot. Slaves to their own issues and problems, unable to see how one may truly profit from their game. Or even escape police detection. They get away with the first few crimes and then believe themselves to be a kind of god. That's when they get sloppy, and that's when the cops bust their asses. Never. Underestimate. The. Enemy. They got that, at first, then the stupidity took over, now they in a cell. Where they belong, for being stupid morons.

Just look at Lyann. When she comes of age she'll be cheerful, happy, content, beautiful, competent, loyal, and in no way resenting her lot in life, and only sold to a bidder who promises her only the best of treatment. A man who would truly treat her as a princess despite "owning" her and paying the price she truly warrants. People are stupid, blind, unable to see how things ought to be. That's why I hate RL slavers, so dumb and stupid and idiotic I want to choke them! Can they not see the path?

it does make you incapable of caasting spells. Courtesan doesnt has spells, she has heavy debuffs

>>34990671
>debt or criminal based slavery.
yes, your post seems correct in its entirety

>>34990677
thats horrible, but i have to say that there's horrible people in the world. Google up "Nestlé slave children for real horror histories of enslaved children, and think about that next time you buy a chocolate.

>>34990679
that sounds sort of funny, but it also sounds like it will be work for ME to watch out for that syllabe. Also, its a very minor thing

Thanks

Just goes to show that making something legal is the best way to regulate it.
Illegal slavery is lawless slavery

Well, im going to store the thread and see you guys next thursday

>Courtesan doesnt has spells, she has heavy debuffs
Well, then you shouldn't have brought up Courtesans in a conversation about whether Lyann could cast Wizard spells as a Dancer. All it did was sow confusion.

sorry, i was mentioning it because it has skills from both thief and dancer and so it was a hybrid class which inherited two jobs. I thought we were talking about that... and fuck captcha switched from numbers to words and im having a hellishly hard time seeing those. So now i have to go wether i like it or not

Night, guys, see you on thursday

Minor to some, major to others. It all depends on what you like to do, the people you hang with, and so on. What's nothing to you or me is everything to someone else. Non-lateral thinking, just because X is minor to you or me doesn't mean it ain't worth a fuckton to someone else. Prices are ultimately subjective ya see, a given thing is only as valuable as that person says it is. More people what agree with them will bump the "general" price up or down.

Supply and demand. Pity so few really understand the concept.
>>
>>34991354
Shit I meant to say "non-linear thinking". It ain't all logical, but it does make sense once you wrap your head around it. Think outside the box, we hear those words so often, yet seldom comprehend the meaning of the phrase.

Think the unthinkable, do the impossible, see the invisible, break the unbreakable, even though it is nothing but for those with the right mindset.

>>34991455
Except what's minor and major are determined via setting and what the magic of the world (i.e. the GM) sets down as what is minor and what is major.

Fuck, you are one annoying piece of shit.
Do you realize that your wording has the effect of having you come off as an arrogant hipster asshole, or is it unintentional?

Are you being a Sword-headed sword on purpose?
