Characters and Gunpla: http://pastebin.com/EF7ZcvHD

You are JACK FOULKE, an amateur Gunpla Fighter with dreams to make your own mark on the Gunpla battle scene!

You take a deep breath as the countdown on the big screen slowly ticks down to zero.

Currently, you were waiting for the World Tournament's second event, the Battle Royale, to begin. Every other fighter, nearly sixty in all, were gathered together to participate in a massive survival game.

You had spent the night brainstorming what to do with Lucina and Holly, but honestly, it was hard to prepare for something when you had no idea what would happen. However, you did come up with a general strategy, which was to...

>Lay low and let the other fighters kill each other off.
>Go out and hunt down other fighters to end the event faster.
>Take the chance to challenge the stronger fighters.

Well, initially, you wanted to ask Charlotte to see if she wanted to team up. She seemed open to the idea, but never really explicitly confirmed whether she was totally in or not. You half suspect she was doing it on purpose to tease you, as when you look at where she's positioned at the central table, she shoots you a smug grin.

And this was assuming you even find her. The Battle Royale stage was HUGE, with a ground stage and space stage up above it and covering nearly an entire city and the surrounding regions. There certainly wasn't a lack of choice in terrain.

Other than that, you were determined to take out the weaker fighters in order to get the fight to end sooner. After all, the the point of this game was to survive, not get the most kills.

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL

Everybody tenses up as the computer chimes the warning. You grip your controls a bit tighter as the countdown slowly goes down.

Not in the Battle Royale. People can team up in that all they want. Cziommer's entire strategy was based around it. As an aside, I wonder how Team NTR feels about Felini settling down into a committed relationship? Relieved that he won't be sleeping with their girlfriends anymore, or angry that he's happy and desiring to sabotage him?

Your Jester launches, and you find yourself in the middle of an empty, dry field. This... was not exactly ideal terrain for you. Also, with dozens of other fighters prowling the area, you needed to find some cover, and fast. Deploying your Balls to watch your back, you scan the surrounding area with your visual sensors.

To the North, you can see the city. It afforded the best cover, but it would also probably draw the thickest concentration of fighters looking for the same thing.

To the East, there was a dense forest. It would provide good concealment, but again, those were popular places to hide.

To the West, there was a coastline with shallow rivers and pools and cliffs you could use as hiding places. You're sure there would be less fighters there, but your Jester was not exactly optimized for amphibious fighting.

Finally, the South, the field extended even further, but you could already see a massive, multi-sided battle taking place there.

You decide to head for the forest. It would provide good concealment without limiting your movement too badly, plus your camo cloak would work better in there. Your Jester starts jogging to the treeline, both to save on propellant and so as not to risk getting detected by enemy sensors.

Are... are you being ambushed by the goddamn Black Tristars?

"Well looky here! We gots ourselves a Feddie!" You hear the pilots of one of the Doms cackle, no doubt over an open channel.

Black Tri-Stars are a team from the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Specialized in a "Jet Stream Attack" maneuver that allowed them to focus all their firepower on one target. They do, actually. That is a completely accurate guess to make. The Black Tri-Stars have Osaka accents, which is the Japanese equivalent of a hick accent. In the dub they were given horrible fake Texan accents. They do come from Texas Colony, so that makes sense. Texas Colony is an entire space colony dedicated to Wild West cosplay. I'm not even joking. It's terrible there.

And right away, the Black Tristars move into position to do the Jet Stream Attack. You couldn't believe how stupid these guys were. It was like, probably THE most predictable attack EVER. Only fucking Texan rednecks would ever think that speeding at their enemy in a straight line was a good plan of attack.

You and your Balls quickly prove the folly of their action by shooting everything you have. The front Dom is shredded to pieces by a hail of beam shots and autocannon shells. The beams even penetrate and drill into the second Dom immediately behind him, knocking it out as well.

However, the third Dom manages to sidestep just in time and aims a hyper bazooka at you.

"Yer gonna pay for that! I'm gonna make you squeal like a-"

Suddenly, the third Dom is cleaved in half from head to navel from behind by a heat axe, reminiscent of how Amuro killed the first Black Tristar. The Dom's halves then fall to the side, revealing the Krimson Kampfer, which looks up and waves at you.

"Yo." Charlotte says in an amused tone. "Looked like you needed some help there."

She then points to the active battle in the field.

"So, we can go there to help or hinder them if we so wish. Um, I think I caught sight of the Meijin heading for the city, if you want to test yourself against him. Aaaaaaaand, I'm pretty sure the Renato brothers are at the coast, the camping bastards that they are."

"You know, I feel like living dangerously." You say, pointing to the currently brewing battle. "TO BATTLE!"

"Nice!" Charlotte says happily. "Race you there!"

The Kampfer's boosters then fire up as her Gunpla shoots forward. You likewise fire up your boosters in an effort to keep up with her.

Considering the fighters up ahead were too busy to notice your approach, you ping the area with your radar to get a better idea of what you're face. You blink when you see that there was upwards of maybe twenty suits duking it out, at least from what your radar could pick up. It seemed to be the lions share of the current fighters not eliminated yet.

As you draw closer, you can eventually pick out Mao and Fellini's suits in the middle of the melee. While the entire fight was largely a massive free for all, you can see that they were actively getting teamed on by a variety of suits you couldn't identify just yet.

"So what's the plan? We'll be on them in about eight seconds." Charlotte says.

Hahah! It looks like someone doesn't know how Gunpla Fights are played. If we took them out now, it'd be boring.
We have to take them out in one on one honorable fights later, preferably with an easy to animate finishing move that can be marketed towards kids watching the fight.
If you do it any other way, you don't have the spirit of Gunpla Battle and are a dirty underhanded cheater.

"Maybe we should help out Mao and Fellini." You say. "It would be such a same to see such great fighters lose this event because they got teamed up on."

"Got it." Charlotte angles her Kampfer to head to the fight brewing around Mao and Fellini's suits.

Now that you get a closer look, you sort of realize that maybe the didn't quite need that much help after all. The combined might of Mao's Satellite Cannon and Fellinie's Buster Rifle clear out the majority of their opponents, but there are still a few stubborn suits that refuse to go down. Up in the sky, Fellini's Wing Gundam was in plane mode and dogfighting with a Bawoo, ReZel, and Zeta Gundam, all in their plane forms as well. On the ground, Mao was in furious close combat with an Impulse Gundam, Hyperion Gundam, and Gustav Karl.

"So, which one do you want to dance with?" Charlotte says in a teasing tone.

"I'll help out Fellini. Mao's all yours." You say.

"Of course you choose the handsome one." Charlotte chuckles, and her Kampfer blasts away before you can even think of a comeback. You just sigh and hit your boosters, climbing skywards as your Balls follow. You see the Rinascita engaging the Bawoo and ReZel, but the Zeta manages to get into his blind spot and lines up a shot. You fire a few beam rifle bursts and force the Zeta to break off, spoiling its attack vector.

However, Fellini sees the beam shots as well and banks hard before realizing it's you.

"Hey, come to join the fun, kid?" Fellini's smooth voice speaks out. "Still got plenty of room!"

"Well, I think it'd be way more fun if we could fight each other without 'distractions'." You say.

"True enough." Fellni laughs. "Mind handling that Zeta for me? It's been gunning after my tail this entire battle!"

"Must be a female fighter, then." You wisecrack.

All you get is laughter from Fellini.

"All right, I'll handle the Zeta." You say, boosting off towards the transformed Gundam. You Balls follow close behind. You take a few more potshots at the Zeta, and you see it transform back into its mecha mode, since it's the more efficient mode to fight you in. The Zeta retaliates with some beam shots of its own, but at this range, you can easily dodge them .

The Zeta's accuracy is pretty bad, and its shots are wide. Yours, on the other hand, hit with deadly precision. Your beams punch into its torso, dealing some rather grievous damage, while one of your Balls manage to take out its heavy beam rifle with a rain of autocannon shells. The Zeta then tosses aside its ruined rifle, shifts back into waverider form, and then jets straight at you at maximum speed.

Speaking of GBF A, Allan pulled out a Neo Zeong armor in the latest chapter. The thing is almost as big as he is. Kenneth must have pulled some major bullshit to hide the thing.

Maybe he uses one of those rolling suitcases to carry his books and stuff? Looks like you could fit a partially assembled Neo Zeong thing in one of those.

On a whim, you decide to look up, and notice there were a hell of lot of explosions in the sky. Curious, you decide to ping the sky with your radar. And you get a return.

A very, VERY BIG return.

"Uh, guys?" You blanch. "There's something above us, and it's BIG!"

Charlotte, Fellini and Mao also pause to look up. In fact, the entire melee pauses, as their own sensors start wailing that something was incoming.

WARNING: GENERAL REVIL HAS ARRIVED

"Oh shit." You gasp.

"ATTENTION ALL FIGHTERS!" You hear the judge say. "A special enemy has appeared on the field! Destroying this special enemy will instantly earn you 4 points, while any mobile suits that assist in the destruction earn 2! If you want extra points, or lost in the first round, now's your chance to make up for it!"

"Um, plan?" Charlotte asks.

"Let's thin out the herd!" You call out, taking aim at the approaching Jegans.

Meanwhile, some of the other fighters present aren't quite so prudent, and shoot straight for the massive carrier. More than a few mobile suits fall to the crisscrossing webs of beam fire the Jegans are laying down, as it seems they prioritize anything that's going for their mothership. A couple other suits more embarrassingly go down to the Revil's main beam cannons.

However, more fighters begin to gather and start bombarding the Revil with long range beam shots, instead. The Revil responds by deploying clouds of anti beam chaff as the Jegans continue to hold in their defensive screen.

You and your Balls rack up a decent number of kills, downing about four Jegans. Charlotte gets five, while Mao and Fellini easily wipe out a score of Jegans between their Satellite Cannon and Buster Rifle.

Even though there were a lot of Jegans, they weren't too smart, and more and more fighters were starting to wise up and target them first. Only a handful are left. However, some enterprising fighters, namely the Bolt Gundam boost straight through the anti-beam cloud, landing on the hull of the ship before its turrets can track it. It then proceeds to pound its fists on the ship's bridge.

Idiot. What he should really be aiming for is the ship's reactor.

However, with gaps now forming in the Revil's defenses, more and more fighters start breaking through, landing on the hull and trying to hammer away. However, with their beam weapons neutralized, it was tough going.

Suddenly, armored Jegans with machine guns and halberds begin crawling out of the hangar bays like ants, catching some fighters by surprise and hacking their mobile suits apart.

"I don't suppose you have non-beam weapons that can punch that armor?" You ask Charlotte.

"I got my trusty heat axes." Charlotte raises points to her two holstered melee weapons. "I just need someone to cover me."

>>

"Fellini, Mao, you mind covering us?" You ask.

"No problem!" Fellini chuckles. "I think it's safe to leave things in both your hands!"

You and Charlotte fly through the the Revil's defensive fire, now limited to the autocannons. Meanwhile, Mao and Fellini provide suppressing fire against the aerial Jegans, knocking out any that try to draw a bead on you.

Charlotte drops straight down on the Revil's hull, decapitating two more Jegans on the way. You touch down seconds after, with your Balls still hanging close.

"This is where the reactor is, right?" Charlotte points down on the hull.

"Um, yeah, I think." You say.

"You THINK?" Charlotte looks back at you.

"Hey, I don't own a Revil and I never thought I'd be fighting one either, so cut me some slack!" You sigh. "But logically, it should be here, near the engines."

"All right, just cover me, then!" Charlotte then starts hacking away at Revil's armor plate with her heat axes, slowly and steadily digging in. However, this attracts the attention of three Jegans, which start making your way towards Charlotte.

However, the third Jegan swings its halberd, slamming right into the Jester's back and shaking your entire Gunpla. Fortunately, if it had been a beam weapon, it probably would've sheared your Jester in half. However, it just gouges your Jester's thicker armor.

However, the Jegans simply aren't a match for your Jester's superior capabilities. The Jegan trying to engage from range is shot to pieces by the Balls, while you grab the head of the Jegan attacking you and fire your grenades directly into hits torso. You then kick it away and it stumbles back a safe distance before exploding.

"Hey, uh, Jack, we'd better get going." Charlotte says, chain mine in hand. You see that she's managed to cut away the layers of armor plate, and the Revil's minovsky reactor was exposed like the center of a fruit.

"Will you do the honor or shall I?" She asks.

"Why not together?" You say as you grasp one end of the chain mine.

"Won't that cause problems with the judges?" Charlotte asks.

"Eh, let them figure what to do." You shrug. "Let's kill this thing."

The both of you let go of the chain mine at the same time before dashing for the edge of the Revil and leaping off the edge to the ground below.

Unfortunately, a good number of the fighters still on the Revil weren't aware it was about to explode and get caught in the explosion as its reactor goes critical after the chain mines set it off. And then there was that even unluckier Zaku that had the misfortune of being under the General Revil as its remains crashed onto the ground...

But neither you nor Charlotte cared. You just pounded fists together as you landed, the burning wreck of the Revil collapsing behind you.

BATTLE ENDED

And so ended the Battle Royale. Only six more events to go.

The fact that the battle ended immediately suggests it was. So we won this round, even if technically the point was just to survive. We racked up a high kill count, defeated the boss, caused the fight to end by our actions, and looked stylish during it. I think people are going to start taking notice of us now. Well, they already did for Charlotte, but we were an unknown factor. Not anymore, though. At least Holly will be happy that the Balls are getting such high-profile coverage.
