You push yourself off of your throne. Your vision swims for a moment, the pain in the back of your head flaring briefly. Leave it to an aborted deity to ruin a night. “A bonfire! Lets collect driftwood and light it on the beach. Cook up something good with what I've got in my cloak.” You stride confidently off of the raised platform, making for the doorway.

Chrys follows your lead, and Darzi falls in behind the two of you. “Isn't that food mostly preserved rations? I'd rather get something fresh...” Picky, picky, picky.

You wave her off dismissively. “I can just catch some fish. I'm practically a Water Grandmaster. It ought to be a simple task.” The sun has set properly on the beach by this point, and you can see the lights of the village only a short distance away. Perhaps worryingly you can pick up a great host of small, twinkling lights in the distance. Almost like torchlight. There must be dozens, if not hundreds of them. Progressing at a steady pace towards the village. An army? A caravan? A traveling band of Bhataki? There isn't anything of particular import in this area, you can't imagine why anyone would visit.

Your party has already set about gathering wood and forming it into a great pile. Save Chrys, who seems to have noticed the lights as well. She's adorned herself with her Death Mask, and the dim glow of the lenses cast her features in an eerie light. After a moment of observation she speaks quietly. “They're flying banners of red and purple, emblems ranging from your sandworms-” You resist the urge to correct her. They're not sandworms, they're Palaka Worms. “-to a two headed hawk cradling a city within its wings, to a set of broken manacles set beneath a crown.”

(1/2)
>>
You feel a wave of nausea wash over you. The last banner is that of your tribe, Abdul-Hakim. While that doesn't necessarily mean your family is amongst the host, if the Abdul-Hakim banner flies, it's likely your family flying it. Yours has always been the wealthiest and most prestigious branch, according to your father's telling. Red and purple are also royal and imperial colors respectively, and the two headed hawk is the emblem of the royal El-Amin dynasty. Usually only flown in the presence of a member of the royal family. You can't speak for the Palaka Worms, likely some lineage of southern nobility.

Well, looks like this is how we kill the Shah.

this group of misfit is our new family for now.

>In regards to Chrys being cute when she is all emotionless:
Her saying she will kill us if we become possessed seems to carry all of the weight of a solemn vow. Like, she is now honor bound do so, and yet she still feels apprehension at the thought of it. That's pretty big for her I think.

We should drop a crate of rations before we leave, just so our team can have something to eat if we take a long time.

This is probably the bastard that is supposed to be our brother.

(23) Salil Abdul-Hakim: Younger Brother. Glad to see you banished. Married to your former fiancee. Successful merchant.
>>
>>34992363
Chrys is a solid person, glad she decided to tag along with us
>>
>>34992461
I kinda miss just traveling with her, though with our personality we may well scare off the others
>>
>>34992482
Prof is like our best friend and we scare him
>>
>>34992434
We may not want the trabble, but it damn sure looks like it knows where we live.

>>34992445
I bet he would have an aneurism if he knew we had more shekels than him even after being banished.

>>34992461
Chrys a good girl. Though Prof 200% loyalty.
>>
>>34992482
I dunno, I like our gaggle of misfits. Reminds me of JRPG party, and its nicely rounded out like one.
>>
>>34992541
That actually gives me a thought.
Since we're more or less claimed by Chrys, who should we pair the others up with? I think Prof and Darzi would make a good pair. Skull Kid and Mortia are obviously OTP.
>>
>>34992518
I am really looking forward to the time we stick it to him as a guy who is more powerful than he could even imagine and richer than he is in a short time despite him getting all that family fund.
>>
>>34992554
Rick and Mik OTP
>>
>>34992541
So by that logic Darzi has like 0% chance to leave once our next big plot point hit. The Shah is dead, Long live the Shah.
>>
>>34992554
I dunno, I think Mortia and Prof have something going on come to think. And obviously Skull Kid/Magitech is my OTP
>>
>>34992541
We really need a strong tank. All we have is Darzi and her only because of the crazy armor we gave her.
>>
>>34992574
Well... I'm not saying she'll be banished for associating with us, but... um, we got the royal family and our family breathing at our door...
>>
>>34992560
Yeah If I recall, if we had kept all the dosh, we probably would have had a higher net worth than our entire family combined. That's one good thing about going to the EX dungeon before finishing the main story.
>>
>>34992626
If we kept it we would be second only to the Shah himself
>>
>>34992574
We can force our brother to fake an account that the shah as his final breath made us the shah for fighting off his assassians
>>
Anyone worried the Sadir is coming to kill us?
>>
>>34992592
Chrys would be a perfect one if she had proper armor and wasn't dead set on being a ranger
>>
>>34992654
To be fair she's a pretty good ranger
>>
>>34992664
I feel like we don't get to see her being a damn good ranger enough. There just isn't much call for an archer in a dungeon.
>>
>>34992626
We earned every cent and then some
>>
>>34992651
He can fucking try, he's gonna end up in our cloak, also I think the whole monk hospitality would cause old man death pants to wreck his shit for attacking a guest at the temple
>>
>>34992620
Nah she will be called back into the guard/armed forces. Healing her scars, and our general behavior, opened her up for becoming a permanent member of our party. She will come back after seeing how the new regime is crap during a dramatic moment, probably with a couple more levels than she had when she "left the party". By RPG logic at least.
>>
>>34992664

To be fair, she's been a pretty good whatever she set her mind to.
>>
>>34992668
And that's the problem, she should understand the needs of the party and switch roles, I mean she is from a warrior place, they must understand that
>>
>>34992686
She's tried to be party tank, but she doesn't have the armor to put up with it. Remember she leaped at that rogue AI and got her shit slapped.
>>
>>34992651
How can a man end us when a god couldn't?
>>
OH SHIT
PROFECTUS WANTS A SHIELD
This is what we need!
>>
>>34992686
Chrys+elaudian armor+waraxe= army clearer
>>
>>34992686

She's fine as is. Don't mess with what works, and in fights she tends to do better then anyone but us. I don't want our second best fighter to be the first one to go down in any serious fight.
>>
>>34992699
Yeah, we need to get her some tank tier armor so we can focus on being a healer instead of both a healer, a caster, and a fighter
>>
>>34992704
Oh yeah, we need to get that fucker a tower shield
>>
>>34992704
I don't follow
>>
>>34992722

Let Prof be the tank. He needs a shield anyways, and his armor is the second best at soaking damage that we have.
>>
>>34992704
AND WITH HIS STONE ARM WE DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEM JUST BREAKING HIS ARM EITH PURE FORCE, PROF IS THE HERO WE NEED
>>
>>34992673
I dunno mang. I think it'd be in our best interests to keep her. It'd be more tactically sound to spread damage across two tank front line fighters and more personally appealing not to give our waifu more scars to add to her collection. Apply former preference to heal spreading. We're probably gonna be dealing with souped royal assassin hit squads, hyper lethal snake Jedi, and ancient insane spirits/gods. I really wouldn't want to do so with one and a half tanks plus only one healer.
>>
>>34992730
Our party needs someone who can take the big hits while all of our ranged casters lay into them. If we give Profectus a big ass shield and maybe teach him some metal magic, he can tank the hits. I bet his sweet ass stone arm would help with that too.
>>
>>34992730
Profectus is good at combat, but his form is most effective w/ a shield, think Roman phlanax shit
>>
>>34992756
How is he gonna hold it?
>>
>>34992748
Prof is a glass cannon. How do you presume to make him a tank? Anyone in the party can take more of a beating than him.

Samjan have only one dick anon. There are rumors of degenerate elves growing themselves a second one for their degenerate purposes and Prof's reaction to illusions show that they are indeed not beyond such an act.

>>34992818
I've been thinking about making a forum to RP in the Banished Quest setting.
But I don't feel we've been shown enough info about the other regions to pull it off yet. It'd basically be Western Pidjata and the Provinces.
>>
>>34992782
Sure. Yeah. Let's have a SINGLE person take all the damage and a SINGLE person be responsible for healing. I'm sure that'll do wonders for their survivability and loyalty. After all, no one really dies but the bad guys. When our mates get downed, the bad guys stop because they're good sports. Let's just ignore the times in the mine where having no backups or contingencies left us marching and fighting with wounds and with single digit Vys pools. Your tactical brilliance is as bright as Creed's.

>>
>>34992851
You do understand how tanks work? The soak damage with good armor and shields while also drawing agro to keep the squishes safe, and when the squishes are safe they can better dps it up and also heal what little damage gets through to the tank. As for the vys problem, or vys problems in recent fights have been because we have been using it all on attacking, we better use our vys staying a healer
>>
In a pinch we could have fulvia construct him a tower shield from some random metal if we think we're going to get into combat.
>>
>>34992899
The questI play on 4chan should work like it does in WoW! Or what ever people are playing now a days.
>>
I kinda wanna re make profs statue to be him holding up the ceiling with a giant ass shield
>>
>>34992899
Hey. Dipshit. This isn't World of Warcraft. When the Tank dies, the Tank dies for fucking ever. And we had to contribute to attacks because we're dealing with high level hitters. As we will continue to do so. Make no mistake, the enemies will get stronger, faster, and smarter. We won't be dealing with decrepit artificials in a mineshaft. We'll be fighting dudes who've kept their land and power for fucking centuries.

Like, goddamn man. Is it possible for anyone to be this stupid? Other Anons, this guy is trolling right? There's no possible way a guamless troglodyte of such enormous scurrile inbred propensity could be a Quester, right?
>>
>>34992923
We could have her do it now and then enchant it so that it's heat resistant!
>>
>>34992934
That sound pretty cool.
>>
>>34992952
true, but we don't know permancy metamagic yet.
>>
>>34992925
It works like a lot of RPGs dipshit, though keeping agro will be damn near impossible when it's quite obvious they should attack the healer, but playing our defensive line shouldn't be too hard down in the dungeons and shit
>>
>>34992934
Only after he earns his robes
>>
>>34992899
Fucking hell mate. Are you daft? Soma said multiple times on the askpage and during query times that Chryssa and Profectus would be deader than a 40 year old coal miner if we didn't specialize in healing. And they've only been up by the skin of our teeth and the single digits of our vys pool.
>>
>>34992958
That's fine though, it only needs to be finite use until we get a better shield. The flame retardancy would just increase the synergy with Prof's arm.

You shake your head. “This isn't our problem.” Some paranoid part of your reminds you that you've yet to heal the last remnants of your brand, you still have a rather noticeable scar on your cheek. “Lets get the fire started and enjoy a meal. Nothing more, nothing less.” The last thing you want is to encounter your Shah, and at the very least a tearful reunion with your family can wait until a more opportune moment. Preferably a moment when they're not apparently on the warpath.

Chrys nods, removing her mask and tucking it into her bag. “Very well. They appear to be proceeding down a path alternative to the one we took when we arrived. They will not pass by this beach, assuming they do not change course when they see the smoke from our bonfire.” She slips off, with that. Heading for the bonfire. You watch the procession of torches for a moment longer before following behind. You've just got a bad feeling about all of this. It's... two or three more days before you're supposed to kill the Shah. Surely he hasn't arrived already.

It doesn't take long for the seven of you to collect all of the necessary materials for a bonfire. Fulvia conjures a ring of stone around the wood and then you extract any remaining moisture from the logs. Profectus lights the wood with a snap of his fingers and in just a few moments you've got a raging bonfire clawing its way towards the night sky. You reach into your cloak and pull out various utensils. Profectus as well seems to have been hiding a few pots and pans in his bag.

Sageras cant use his name anymore so, there you go.
>>
You notice that he pulls out the Acheota and turns around, taking several pictures of the castle. Fulvia pipes up with unexpected eagerness. “Oooh! Good idea! Lets get a group picture!” This is perhaps the happiest you've ever heard her. She grabs hold of Darzi and Skull Kid, the two people nearest her, and drags them across the beach to stand in front of the castle gates. Mortia joins them shortly, having abandoned her usual grumpy persona. You join the group after a moment's thought with Chryssa in tow.

Profectus presses a button and, much to your surprise, the archeota begins hovering in the air. A white light blinks rhythmically from one side of the sphere while Profectus rushes to get into the group. He sprawls himself out in the sand, crooking one leg and resting his chin in his palm in a pose that's probably meant to be alluring but just comes across as goofy. Mortia, Fulvia, and Darzi together behind him, each one resting one knee in the sand. Chrys, Skull Kid, and yourself stand at the back.

There's a flash, and Profectus rushes to his feet to check the Archeota. He presses a button, and an image is projected above the device. It's an exact miniaturized copy of the scene, accurate enough that it would put most paintings to shame. Fulvia snatches up the archeota and dashes inside to take more pictures, Profectus chasing after he saying something about not taking a picture of his statue.

Chrys smiles just slightly. An amused, contented smile. It's there only for a moment and then gone the next, but it's good to know she's enjoying herself. She turns her attention to you after a moment. “If you will supply me with materials, I will make us a stew of some sort. It is simple and ought to feed all of us efficiently.”

(2/3)
>>
You reach into your cloak and deposit a crate on the sands of the beach with a weighty thud. You know, most people would probably find that really weird. You reach into your cloak and withdraw a crowbar to pry it open, and then Chrys hoist it up effortlessly and carries it over to the bonfire. She starts piling various ingredients into Profectus' handy pot, and then adds seawater. While she's focused on cooking, Darzi approaches you.

“This has been pleasant, hasn't it?” You nod, thinking back on the day. “By and large, I suppose.” She glares at you for a moment, but lets it drop with a sigh. “I think I'll be departing tomorrow or the day after. I have my things packed and I noticed an animal seller offering a guar. I will likely leave at or before dawn.”

We should say something about her being a good sane perspective on some of our more ridiculous actions, and that her aid and input would be more than appreciated.
Also, she's gone through more than most people will ever be able to relate to, but in our group we have plenty of people that understand or can at least sympathize.

First of all, that wasn't the reason listed.
Second of all, we had plenty of anons who hated here.
Third, we wouldn't be fucking losing her, Soma said she needs some down time, we could have came back after Entity and Chrys business was taken care of and potentially recruit her again.
And robbing her the good life of a guard captain by using vys to convince her to go an extremely dangerous adventures with us is an asshole thing to do.
>>
>>34993718
Dude everyone said we fucked up, only fulvia wouldn't be able to, darzi was just aggressive about it, and not in a good way. Still the guy is turbo dumb
>>
Either it's a rather long post broke down in many smaller part, or Soma's under an heavy caffeine crash
>>
>>34993753
Can Soma's sister come confirm that Soma is still conscious?
>>
>>34993656
No, quests don't have good roleplaying because core decision making is made collectively by anonymous posters on the internet. Assuming the persona of a character who doesn't suffer from some form of schizophrenia is all but impossible in a collective quest. Decisions on such matters as survival and acquiring power are thus more appealing as everyone can agree on them.
>>
>>34993764
She's under his desk already
>>
>>34993753
What I'm really interested in is what Soma's sister thinks of the Darzi Doo-Doo Dustop Two: The Electric Bugaloo.

>>
>>34993778
Which is exactly what is going on right now. Hence, "this is why quests don't have good roleplaying". The decision of putting on the mask and the bar fight weren't for survival either, they were lolrandumb and mysterybox. The decisions made are decided by presentation.
>>
Soma. You should have never mentioned having a sister.
>>
>>34993829

>>

>>34993928

Mik was being in character by not taking the bargain option... Bro, do you even Mik? What we did was the height of lolrandumb and we got what we deserved.
>>
>>34993928
That was one of the first times we magic'd while there. It turned our horrible, and Anon kept going with it even afterwards. Mik may be crazy, but he isn't stupid, it wasn't in character for him to risk the whole city starting a witch hunt on him. Especially when there were other, better options available to us.
It was very literally just /tg/ stupidity.
>>
What's stoping us to recruit one of the monks at the temple to replace Darzi?

You clear your throat uncomfortably. “You know, I've been thinking about that.” She quirks an eyebrow curiously. “Have you now?” You nod enthusiastically. “I have, and... I think I'd like you to stay.” Wow, that was... weak. You're really dropping the ball here.

Darzi's grin is predatory. “Well it's nice that you think that, but my actions aren't dependent upon your wants. In fact, if the best argument you can muster is 'you'd like me to stay' I think I'll leave tomorrow before the sun rises. Better than wasting my time here, don't you think?” Fuck, Mikhael. Get it together. Is that really the best you can muster? You'd like her to stay? On the other hand, why is she being so hostile? You'd think she'd be flattered.

You channel vys, forcing yourself think just a bit quicker and speak just a tad clearer. “Wait, look. What I'm trying to say is that you've become a really integral part of this team. Now, don't get me wrong. This is your choice to make, it's your life. I just thought I ought to voice my opinion regarding the matter.” She nods, and you continue. “You get along really well with everyone, you're tolerant of everyone's various idiosyncrasies, you don't mind my associations with the other races. When I make a bad decision you call me on it instead of simply going along for the ride. Even if I don't necessarily appreciate that input I understand that it's necessary. I'm probably a little more than half-insane by this point and what little grasp I retain on reality is rapidly slipping away.”

(1/2)
>>
>>34994042
Okay, so we just make a golem copy of us in order to fuck Darzi.
>>
You sigh, reaching up to scratch at the back of your head. “The party needs a cool head and a sound mind. I'm certainly not either of those things.” You glance at your party members gathered around the bonfire, happily chatting amongst themselves. You lower your voice before continuing. “Chrys' grip on reality has been slipping lately as well. Profectus is too irresponsible to handle anything resembling a leadership roll. Fulvia is limited in what she's capable of by her programming. Mortia is a wild card and Skull Kid just doesn't seem to care about much of anything beyond his work. When we really get right down to it, if I were to get my head lopped off in some forsaken dungeon you'd be the only one in the party I'd trust to get everyone out alive.”

She folds her arms in front of her chest, leaning her weight onto one foot. There is a long period of silence before she finally speaks. “Fine, I'll travel with you.” You open your mouth to speak, but she cuts you off with a gesture. “However, this is not a permanent arrangement. I still intend to leave... eventually. To start a family, if for no other reason. Gods above, I'm already probably one of the richest women in Pidjata. I'm honestly not sure where I'm supposed to go from here.” A critical lack of ambition, but you're not going to push your luck. You got what you wanted.

Chrys calls from the bonfire. “The food is ready!” Distracting you and Darzi from your conversation. You share a look, and then move to join your companions around the bonfire. You pass the rest of the night eating, drinking, and being merry. Generally just enjoying one another's company. By the time you crawl into your throne and close your eye for the night you're drunk, full, and above all else content.

Just something always bugged me. The hell did a couple dozen bandits get the wealth of a small nation? I mean this is literally the equivalent of a forty man modern day pirate crew accruing more wealth than the Bank of motherfucking Cairo.

That's a very, very, VERY good question. It ties in with Lord Spiros and various other things.

You probably won't be able to read my 5 year old tier hand writing but ill look into it anon

>Spiros confirmed to have been planning the merc attack
Yessssss, we didn't play hitman on an innocent guy for a megalomaniac mage.
>>
>>34994304
God fucking damn...Archmage wasn't fibbing when he said Spiros wanted to raze the entire fucking Academy.
>>
>>34994285
I just realized how childish that sounded, I should mention that I'm a paranoid schizo that doesn't mix well with night time

Watch your tongue scurrilous knave. Gentle eyes sweeter than the youngest of does' and as striking as evening stars shall see your words. Befoul and debauch them not with your wicked words and gratuitous invectives.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you degenerate? I’ll have you know I graduated as a grandmaster in my master's class, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret trades with various merchants, and I have over 300 confirmed haggles. I am a trained water vatis and I’m the top healer in the entire Samjan armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another broken bone. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before in this dimension, mark my fucking SKREE. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the brooches? Think again, pale face. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of stooges inside my cloak and your vys is being traced right now so you better prepare for the oud, shortie. The oud that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your hearing. You’re fucking deaf, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s without spice. Not only am I extensively trained in Marsala Ve, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Void and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable elf ass off the face of the continent, you hippie. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking thoughts. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price (30 gold pieces), you goddamn treehugger. I will shit magic all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, N'wah.

The scribbles of a sleep deprived schizophrenic with inspiration drawn from ancient grimoires?

Holy shit this sounds amazing. Scan it and post it in LQ and I will all the internets to my name.
>>
>>34994334
Maybe I could give you some support sometime, if I ever get sleep-deprived enough to get a nice psychotic episode going.
My scribbles would be in cursive though.

We haven't yet given the brooch to Skull Kid.

Fuck, why does brooch-giving always take so long. It took several threads before we finally got around distributing the brooches when we originally got them.
>>
>>34995312
We didn't know if he'd be useful, or even come with us before then.
But yes, now is the time to do it, before we get kidnapped by the faggot.
>tfw new Shah is a vengeful bastard who came after us using our own family
>tfw we'll wipe the floor with him and his little army by getting the Varistha's support
>>
So anybody else regret not healing our scar?
>>
>Not bringing the Egg to the beach
>>

So, are we gonna have people coming after us?
