You wake early, dawn creeping over the horizon in a brilliant display of colour. Your family snoozes gently around you, limbs in every direction. blankets have been pulled askew as they slept, leaving an interesting tableau of half exposed spiders throughout the nest.

Mom has remained somewhat normal, a blanket bundled under her chin, another across her human half- her spider parts stick out from under the covers, legs spread, as she snores. Aria, on the other hand has flopped backwards, lying across her shell, drool running freely from her mouth- Elle is next to her, and judging by the weaver's collection of blankets, has stolen Aria's covers.

The boys have constructed themselves some sort of blanket fort, the only hints that there's anything but a pile of cloth in the corner are a few legs sticking free from beneath. And Sara has once again moved from lying next to you to lying across your spider half, blanket wrapped around her shoulders like a cape. You keep still- no need to wake anyone just yet.

Sheszka, your new 'packmate', went to bed bundled in blankets, curled in your lap. Now, however, she has wiggled her way free of the cloth, lying on her back, twisted to one side, arms and legs half curled above her. She really does look just like a dog, like this. Her stomach exposed, ears and limbs twitching as she dreams.

Your eyes travel down to the pale flesh of her tummy. You fingers twitch.

Your parents were never home- they wouldn't allow you a pet. Too much work, too much responsibility.
>>
>>35045438

She liked it when you scratched her ears, right? She was so happy- and dogs like having their belly rubbed. You could just... reach out and pet her. Wait, wait. She's not an animal, Lyra. You can't just treat her like a pet.

The wolf-girl twists in her sleep, a little growl-whine escaping her mouth as she wriggles- When her back collides with you, the noise tapers off, her whole body relaxing, one ear flicking as she makes fluttering snore noises.

She's right there. Right there.

>Pull a blanket back over her- The temptations less if you can't see it.
>Settle for patting her head, gently. You don't want to wake her up.
>Rub her tummy. Do it.
>Other (?)

It's weird having a wolf girl.
Let's try just treating her like a person. Maybe see if, given food and safety, she can start being interested in more things than pack mechanics.
>>
>>35045449
>Rub her tummy. Do it.
>>
>Not rubbing her tummy
Only plebs choose this
>>
>>35045655
We need to talk with her more and have her improve her Forestspeak skills. Right now it's hard to hold a conversation with her.

And, I know mom is going to get angry at us again for this but, I think we should ask Sheszka if there were any sisters, brothers, or friends from her old pack that she thinks might have survived, and that we should extract from the Werebeast area.
>>
>>35045755
but we can still rub her tummy right?
>>
Neck and neck! Writing!
>>
>>35045755
We should consider some way to possibly improve the werebeast area.

Heck, I was planning on building a web-based bridge across the thing earlier.
>>
See on one hand, treating her like a person and making her a bit more independent is smart. On the other, she'll probably always have a pack mentality, and it's not like this one time we rub her tummy is gonna mean we can never treat her with dignity again.

On the third hand, gods damn me before I vote anything but tummy-rub because fuck do I want to see that scene.
>>
We need to knit our new pack member some clothes, like, immediately.

We will NOT let our friend/pet/pack member/extended family/possible love interest go around in rags a moment longer!

>>
>>35045449
Hey REQM, shouldn't Lyra have some sort of skill/trait or something to reflect how she keeps making mastercraft weapons? I mean the dicegods must be hinting at something with those 100s...
>>
>>35045816
>>35045755
Lyra is always up for some adventure and learning new things. Learning some more about the Weres and scouting out the situation seem like a good way to spend the day.

We should learn more about them and meet more than one Werebeast before we make any decisions.

On a meta level, I want to lead the other Spiders and conquer the Werebeasts. We will become the Alphas and stop their endless infighting. Return the old order and let their culture recover. Of course, we don't know about the old order or any of that just yet.
>>

>>
>>35045816
A bridge to the werebeast area is not a good idea right now. There's no need, since the stream is shallow enough that we can just walk across the bottom without the water going above our head.

>>35046002
While that's something on our to-do list, I think we should spar with Aria today.
See how far her training has come, and to help boost her XP gain rate some more.
>>
>>35046128
>>35046002
>Spiderwars
No anon, shit's so idyllic!
>>
>>35046111

Loincloth would probably be best since it won't restrict her movement.
>>
>>35046002

Spiderbutt Master Race will lay path to future.

Shoulder Harpies and Bosom Wolves are crucial ingredients to this path.
>>
>>35046157
That's the point. We are destined to be the savage queen of Gaul.
>>
>>35046171
Clearly we should make her a skirt.
>>
>>35046135
Is that a specific type of skirt or are you just commenting that it was pretty?

Because I'm sure it was very nice. We may not be Elle but we wouldn't stuff Jin with poorly made clothes.
>>
>>35046183
Noooo
I say we should instead try to teach them BOOK
>>
>>35046157
Err, no, it's not idyllic. That's the point. The Weres are killing themselves with constant infighting. In the old Monster Civ, this was kept under control by other races taking the position of Alpha and leading them.

But this is all meta so we can't make any decisions about this yet until Lyra discovers it for herself.
>>
>>35046256
our spider stuff is pretty ideal, though.
I just really don't want big spider wars for anything other than, like, combined threats to everyone.
Unification wars are always messy and terrible.
>>
>>35046256
Speaking of meta. Is this AU or is there a chance we'll run into the MC from the light novels?
Think he'll try and eat us for our spider-ness?
>>
>>35046300
FUCK the MC from the novels.
Katamari cannabalism power gainin' is bullshit.
>>
>>35046300

I think this is disconnected from every other setting like it aside from sharing some basic themes and principles.

I VASTLY prefer it this way too.
>>
>>35046291
>our spider stuff is pretty ideal, though.
C'mon, don't selfish. The Spiders mostly landed on their feet (we have lots of feet) but a lot of the other races got screwed when the Civ collapsed. The Mothkin were hunted to near extinction and the Weres have devolves into constant infighting that's wrecked their culture. We can help them.

Also, I don't think this would involve actual war. Since it involves us becoming the Alphas of the Packs, I'm imagining it involving challenges for Dominance.

Ritual combat between the ruling Alpha and the challenger.

Or maybe not. This is all just speculation for now. It won't become a voteable issue until we learn about this stuff in character.
>>
>>35046291
It's like you don't want to watch the characters break, that we may observe how they remake themselves.
>>
Now that Aria has evolved, should we take her to the town for her armor? But we should wait for Elle to make some dresses and bolts of Arachne silk for sale as well.
>>
>>35046256
we should raise our new pup to become queen of the wolves
>>
>>35046446
I think one of the other, stronger, races needs to be Alpha. It ensures peace by preventing the other Weres from challenging for control and starting the infighting again.
>>
>>35046494

I think that anon means that Sheszka assumes dominance over the other Weres, while we have dominance over her. This insures that external influence into their culture is limited to our direct interactions with Sheszka as opposed to having to deal with the entire species ourselves...
>>
>>35046413
Nah.
Let's just set up spider charity homes.

It will be inevitable that the wolves try to take more than we give, and we'll set them straight then, systemically.
>>
>>35046443
yeah, we should probably take her AND elle to town. And maybe whoever else wants to come.

We'll have to bring our own food, though, because I am pretty sure a family of arachne and their wolf can pretty much eat the inn's entire stock in one go.
>>
>>35046443
We could and we probably should at some point, I was hoping to spar with her today, we haven't sparred with anyone since we evolved and both of us did we could get a lot out of it I think
>>
You glance around, stealthily checking each sleeping form. Your hand creeps, unbidden, towards the slumbering wolf. She twitches as it closes in on her, nose wrinkling.

Your hand hovers over her, shivering, nothing but raw will holding you back. You can't just, just, Pet people. Right? It's not a thing people do. Your eyes are laser focused- You're grinning so hard your face hurts.

It's not fair. You really, really want to pet her.

You reach your other hand down, cradling the back of her head gently. Your fingers slide through her hair- and when they reach her half folded wolf ears, she gives a little shiver of delight, lips curling into a smile even in rest.

You scratch as gently as you can, curling your fingertips around her ears, working your way across her scalp. She twists her neck in a sleepy haze, butting her head into your hand, tail flicking beneath her as you scratch harder.

You sigh, tension flowing out of you, muscles unclenching. Maybe you can wait till-

Your hand. Your hand is warm. You stare at the traitorous appendage in shock. You'd meant to drop the matter, not drop your hand onto her. Wait- No, stop that, you-

Fingers close, open softly, as your hand makes a slow spiral over her stomach, gently applying pressure. She makes the most adorable, satisfied noise you have ever heard, one legging batting at the air as you start to scratch. Curling up, then towards your hand, pushing herself as close to you as she can get- You can feel the heat radiating off her body.

Eyelids flutter, and you freeze as she slowly wakes, a wide, fang-filled yawn splitting her face. Drowsy, half-open eyes take in the scene: You cradling her head with one hand, the other still stuck to her stomach. She smiles at you, eyes unfocussed, wrapping a pair of gangly arms around you, pushing her head against your stomach, holding herself close.
>>
>>35046672
So, appoint Shez as our Beta and let her manage the day to day stuff? Sensible idea.

I expect we'll need to recruit other Alpha Spiders because rounding up and taking control of every pack would probably be to much for us alone. Then each Pack would probably need their own Beta to manage that group, can't expect a single Beta to manage multiple scattered Packs. Not like we have wireless communication here.
>>
>>35046841
Fucking adorable
>>
>>35046841
You relax in her grip, and continue scratching her as she makes muffled noises of happiness into your tummy. You smile down, greeting the young wolf.

"Good morning, yes. Did you sleep well?"
"MmmmMMmmmmnmm."
You chuckle, bright eyed, and her tail thumps behind her.
"There is all sorts of things to do today, yes. We'll make you some clothes- ah, and I am sure mom will help- we can teach you more of the forest language. Maybe even a bit of the plainspeech- There is a village nearby."

Her voice is tiny, barely audible against your body.
"Thank-you."
You hug her tighter, sharing your own warmth, smiling all the while.
"We will keep you safe. Happy. I will protect you, I promise."
"Thank-you for taking me. Alpha."
"Mmn."

You hold her till your family begins to rise, and she stays next to you even as the nights leftovers are brought out- you have to prompt her forward, pushing her into the circle of your family, where she picks up a chunk of meat and sets about devouring it.

There's a lot to teach her. Not just words, but family too.

Well, you've got a whole day ahead of you.

We'll start with one today.
>Start with some weaving- Rags won't do.
>Break out the books- work your way through a few, expand her vocabulary.
>Take her hunting- You'll need more food. And chances are, the exercise is good for her.

We haven't even started yet.
We're still in some tiny corner of the forest. Who knows what else lives here?
Adorably blind bat girls/boys, who need to hold hands in the daylight?
More fluffy tails?

And what'll happen when we leave the forest behind? A whole world of creatures is waiting for us to find them, and fuss over them while petting them.

A young earth elemental, following us because we make them feel warm? A proud knight, terrified of spiders, but determined to beat us in a tournament? A golem deep in a dungeon, their creator long dead- and us the first person they've seen in hundreds of years.

Prepare yourself.

As the family starts heading off in every direction, you manage to wave down Elle before she drops out of the tree. She turns back with a curious look, crossbow slung over her shoulder. She's already started to tear into the design book you gave her- Her tunic now sports bits of lace, drawstrings, and a built in shawl- a neat little textured pattern wrapping around the edge of it.

"Lyra? Did you need something?"
"Ah, yes. If it isn't too much trouble, could you make me a small batch of silk? I'm going to take Sheszka out hunting with me- I'll make her some new clothes when I get back. No need to get them dirty beforehand."
"Hmmm."

She hums to herself as she sizes up the young wolf, eyes measuring her every detail.
"Maybe pants? Cut below the knee- or a skirt? It'd have to be something stiffer, wouldn't want it catching..."
"Uh-"
"Yes, yes. I'll make a batch of silk- I'll even help out later," She says with a smile. "A tunic won't work for her. I'll show you what you need, yes? Good hunting!"
"Mhm. Thank-you!"

You wave her off as she heads over the nest's edge, dropping out of sight. Turning back, you find your new charge standing half at attention, eagerly awaiting your orders. Your smile spreads as she looks at you, grinning.
"Well then... Shall we hunt?"
She nods excitedly, skipping towards the edge of the nest- and pulling up short, quickstepping back.
>>
>>35048340
She glances nervously at it, then back to you.
"Forgot."
You wrap an arm around her waist, pulling her up, cradling her in both arms. She wraps both of her own around your neck, clutching you tight as you move for the edge, shutting her eyes and holding her breath.

You get the two of you down in one piece- You are a giant spider, after all. Sheszka bounces with excitement, nose twitching as she scents the air, scampering to the edges of the clearing and back to you as she waits for instructions.

But it would be worth it to see the expression on her face.
2nd evo here we come!
>>
Sheszka looks to you expectantly, eagerness written all over her.
"We will hunt!"
You nod, considering your options. Chances are she could find you anything you care to look for- excepting the sorts of things that the language gap won't cover. You wind up muttering animals aloud as you think, walking through the woods with the wolf at your side.

"Hmm... Dragons? Or giant beetles. How would a beetle taste, anyway? Do they even have flesh?"
She watches you, head cocked to one side, before offering her opinion.
"No dragons. Not in forest. What is beetles?"
"Ah, bugs. A giant bug. Not a spider, though."
"Don't know smells. Nothing like spiders across the river."

You keep walking before your mind rewinds the conversation, posing another question.
"You know what a dragon is?"
"Mhm. The biggest pack, they sleep under its bones."
You whistle appreciatively. Or try to, anyway. Fangs aren't conducive to whistling. It takes a few tries, but you get it to work. Sheszka giggles as your face contorts, trying to keep from poking the inside of your mouth.

Dragon bone, though. Is it magical? Maybe people can make stuff out of it. If they're living beneath it, though- It'd have to have been there a long time. The scales are probably long gone, and the bones would be too big to work. Maybe a smaller dragon? A wyvern? It's something to think about.
>>
>>35049794
"Mmm. Big things, then. Something that'd taste good, yes. Did you have anything you liked to eat?"
Ears perk as she regards you, answering enthusiastically in a jumble of forest speech and growls.
"Grrr- Ah, it was. We had a bite? Big, and strong- legs and a head-"
She gestures, hands forming a stubby box shaped snout in front of her face.
"A bear, maybe? If you can track it, we can kill it, yes."

She nods, head snapping up and down as she lowers herself to all fours. Tail raised, she sniffs the air once, twice, before striking out away from home, dashing though brush. You're actually hard pressed to keep up with her- stamina isn't an issue, but she's fast as hell. She slows frequently, letting you catch up before she heads off again.

After more than a few repeats, you catch up to the wolf standing still, crouching below the brush line, carefully watching her prey. Its a sizable looking bear- not the spike covered abomination you fought, but a pitch black creature, with a whispy, smoke-like mane pouring off its spine.

Knowing magic, it might actually be smoke.

The creature is hunched over a small creek, guzzling water, tongue lapping the stream, attention solely on its thirst.

You glare at the monster. It's definitely got some kind of power- The mane is a dead give-away. You don't feel like taking another blast of anything, armour or not. You gesture for your wolf to wait, and slide into the trees- In short order, you have a sizable web with a Sheszka-sized hole near the bottom.

You hang sideways off the structure as you lay out your plan.
"Try to get it to chase you, yes? And then, you run through the hole there- and we will strike it."
She nods seriously, her long mop of hair flopping with each flick of her head.
"Yes."

You give her an encouraging smile, and clamber into the tree above.

Step one goes off without a hitch- The bear turns as soon as she steps into the clearing proper. There's that tense moment where you aren't sure it'll give chase- but it fades quickly, the bear lumbering towards her, picking up speed as she goes.

You can see the look of concentration on her face- she's frozen her body in a parody of fear, pretending at being prey. As the beast closes on her, she bolts, screaming towards the gap in the web. The bear batters through the brush, roaring as it tries to close the distance- and teh bounce in it's step sends it straight into your web, momentum twisting it forward.

Its caught sideways and upside down, head and one full side firmly stuck to your web, its free paws waving spastically around as it snarls out its rage. You drop in one movement, slamming down your full weight onto the monster, stabbing with each leg, with your spear aimed at its neck-

And its mane comes alive. Shadows twist beneath the trees, trying to shield the monster, snapping up to stab at you; Only a few of your legs punching through the armour-like film, drawing angry roars from the beast. You dance atop it, stabbing down, shifting away from the shadows that seek out your limbs.

Sheszka tears back out of the woods, lips curled back, and launches herself at the bear, fangs sinking into its throat. Its snaps its head back and forth, desperately trying to dislodge her, but she's firmly embedded, jaw latched over its neck, arms and legs alike clawing at it's underside.

The bear slows, shadows fading as your loyal wolf crushes its throat, driving the breath from its lungs and bringing it to the ground- You hop off the slow falling beast, pivoting and driving your glaive up through its ribcage, ending it. It collapses with a final spatter of blood leaking from its jaws.

Sheszka detached herself, sitting back from the body. Her tail blurring behind her, she smiles through a mouthful of blood. You pat her head, praising her, and her eyes light up, even in the shade of the woods.

Its a simple matter to pull down your web, wrapping your catch, and hauling it across your carapace. You take your time on the way home- pointing objects out at random, and either praising her for knowing the word, or teaching her when she doesn't.

You also send her hurtling off after any small animals either of you spot, a growing collection of critters piling up next to the bear. You reach the tree just as noon ticks over, the sun starting its descent as you haul everything, wolf included, into the tree.

Plenty of day left.

No I am not, because she needed to smack us around for a entire day before we started being strained the last time we did it, a single afternoon session wouldn't do anything for us. Which would also mean no one besides Lyra gets to do any training.
>>
>>35051450
>If you think she cant find a way to make it challenging you're dead wrong
If she conencentrates on lyra, I thought this training was supposed to help Sheska and our Sister, you know, people who need training far more then we do.
>>
>>35051398
Mom's spear level is at 17. We are at, what, 6? There's a whole lot more to combat than simply using your strength to overwhelm an opponent. With the HUEG gap in our abilities and skill level, we can still gain a lot of XP from training with Mom.
>>
>>35051482
It makes me feel bad every time someone uses XP as an argument.
Sort of shoots doing things for reasons in the foot.
>>
>>35051508
We needed several days of day long sparring with mom to even get that far, what makes you think a single afternoon will make a difference to get us higher ? Thats not how it works.
Worse, if Mom focuses on us so much that we actually get a benefit from it, it means sidelining Aria, again. Who needs training far more then we do. And of course Sheska won't get any training either.
>>
>>35051508
no, we are helping Aria and Sheszka get trained, not hogging xp for shitty metagaming purposes.
>>
>>35051547
im right there with you anon
>>
>>35051615
>we are helping Aria and Sheszka get trained
If that is what this leads to, I'm okay with that.
Although I'm not sure how much mom could teach Sheska, given the vastly different physiology. And she already got the basics down, so its pretty much just sparring for her.
>>
>>35051583
As a spider woman, I'd like to think she has son ability to multitask and juggle "projects" like training each daughter. She only had to focus on us because we kept going David and Goliath with enemies, it's more level playing field now.
>>
>>35051676
She had to focus on us because training someone is hard and requires dedication.
And it becomes harder the better you get.
>>
>>35051547
So the reasoning of "I want to see Sheszka being cute" or the paper thin excuse of trying to "civilize" her with clothes (putting aside how stupid that sounds) are good reasons to put off training with mom and Aria, in a world where fighting for our lives is a thing we have to do on a consistent basis?
>>
>>35051713
We are already very good at fighting, it would cost us nothing to take the moment to give her some proper clothes so she can feel like a person for once. Sheszka will appreciate clean and proper colthing as much as anyone else would.
>>
>>35051713
>where fighting for our lives is a thing we have to do on a consistent basis

>>
>>35051713

No, actually it isnt, we could just go after easier prey, like deer, all the time, but that wouldnt make for a very interesting quest. or hey, a Civilized settlement, with some kind of steady food supply IS right through the forest, if we wanted to, we could just get a job there and never have to hunt again.
Youre just tryin, poorly to justify not wanting to do something thats not going to get you precious exp.

The very life you say makes for an interesting quest is a life of conflict and violence as we explore the world like Nialla did.

So what are you arguing here? That we want a life of excitement but that it won't be one where we have to get stronger?

Interesting stuff. While training with Mom, while amsuing no doubt, simply isn't needed anymore by comparison. If we get free time and have nothing better to do, sure. But allowing Sheszka some nice clothes seems a whole lot more important. She has to wear those the entire time afterall.

While sparring with mom at this point accomplishes nothing besides us getting XP.

If we let decisions be "we should do it for XP!" then that drains every single bit of excitement, fun, and spontaneity. It also robs the quest medium of any advantages it has.

Where did that come from?
The votes for training with mom clearly state that they want to make sure that Aria and Sheszka get as much training and practice as we can.
We've already been told since last thread that Lyra's XP gain rate is maxed out, so this training would be for the benefit of Aria and Sheszka.
>>
>>35052231

You mean the post AFTER the vote is closed, an is in response to an anon complaining that we should have gone for clothing because all training is worthless to us now? The post you quoted just said that Mom can still teach us stuff because she's got double the number of skill ranks than us.
Not that we need to do this for the XP, just that training is still viable and valuable.
>>
I personally wanted the xp, not for the sake of leveling but for Mom's reaction to is evolving again. I sincerely hope we can have fun and help our friends and family along the way though.
>>
>>35052280
Some of those replies are just about training as part of the story itself. I want to train too, to see how close we've come to mom. She really is the best measuring stick we have around here, and we really haven't had a real sparing session with her since we evolved.

I couldn't care less about xp, I just want to have a "real" fight with mom, because she seriously had to be holding back on us before.

I'm back and continuing writing.

And as a blanket statement:
There's no need to go for anyone's throats. No matter what choices you make, where the quest leads, be it rebuilding the forest civilization, adventuring across the world, building an airship, settling down- I won't write spreadsheets. You'll grow and learn things with everything you do. And I'll write to the best of my ability in the hopes that you'll enjoy it.

Lyra has a lot of meta knowledge, via reincarnation. If you want to exploit it, vote in that direction. She didn't have much of a family growing up, if you think she'd want to spend time with the one she's found now, vote for it. The reasons you use to justify your choice to yourself are fine. Have fun, and don't worry.
>>

The choice was to go up to get training for Sheszka and help Aria train, with the anons commenting that we haven't trained with mom in a while and never with Aria.
One of the posts you quoted even says that this training is for the benefit of Aria and Sheszka.

That same post talks about the reason for training them being "Xp bonuses being locked in soon", which is not only wrong, but also a shitty reason. Which is really all the problem. The complaint is about the reasoning not the choice itself. Obviously several people were okay with the choice, but not with the reasoning some others had.

>>35052467
The issue is that Lyra doesn't need the training as much as the other two, so training her really serves no purpose besides XP grind.
Mom won't have a "real" fight with us at this point after having trained the entire day with Aria.
>>
>>35052625
yeah, I'm fine with training.
i'm not fine with "let's train for XP".
>>
>>35052625
>Doesn't have any purpose besides xp grind
You mean other than spending time with our family, or see how far Aria has progressed, or checking Shezka's actual combat prowess or just having a friendly (and might I say IC) spar with mom?
Or did the one anon shouting "xp grind" invalidate all of these reasons?

Also, you really think training Aria is gonna wear mom out? Even if you haven't seen her stats (and she's good), we've only come close to touching her once pre eve, and I think that was on a crit success. Her being tired, will put us on slightly more equal footing. And I don't think she'll actually be tired.

Remember, she was our vanguard for almost then entire necromancer fight, and still had enough energy to put us all to bed afterwards. Not to mention she raised five arachne babies.

So no, there are actual reasons for training, xp is a much more minor one, especially because REQM explicitly stated that training won't get us to 2nd evo.
>>
>>35052625
>which is not only wrong
But it isn't wrong.
The XP gain bonus gets locked when we reach adulthood. Lyra's bonus is capped, but Aria's hasn't. And Sheszka isn't an adult yet either.
But we've been teenagers for a week now, and given the accelerated growth that we went through after hatching, we should be approaching adulthood soon.
>>
>>35052753
aria's has, you doof.
She's evolved already.
Sheszka too, probably.
>>
>>35052747
You are missing the point, which was that training Lyra served no point, because she is already so good that training her to any real effect would require moms attention for the time. Helping Aria and Sheszka train is just fine and alright.
>>
>>35052770
From the Q&A sheet, it makes a distinction between adulthood and evolutions.
Do you have any quotes from REQM that disprove that?
>>
Goddamn, where did this shitstorm come from? It's like all of a sudden the thread blew up between people who want cute spidergirls doing cute things and powergamers. For pity's sake anons, nine times out of ten REQM can write up both handily.
>>

yeah, back when she said lyra was done with gaining a higher XP rate because she evolved.

No, I'm not going to hunt you down an ideal minmaxing quote.

The obvious answer is to make cute spiders doing cute things something people can powergame over.
>>
>>35052869
Yeah I don't get it either.

>>
>>35052886

If what you say is true, then min maxing is now impossible because it's all locked in and the power gamers would have nothing to work with.

So either you didn't think this through, or you're lying through your teeth.
>>
>>35052943
>not resisting evolution to gain more XP cap

You ditch your fresh animal collection at the pile of food, heading further up the tree, Sheszka in tow. Literally.

In the arena, Mom is leaning idly on her training spear, while Aria is half collapsed, breathing hard, legs all over. She looks at you pleadingly, making a vague drinking gesture as she tries to croak out for help.

You pass her your shield wordlessly, and in seconds, she's soaked her shirt, frantically downing as much water as she can. She gasps, sputtering, passing the shield back to you- Sheszka pokes her head at it curiously, and you let her take it, the sounds of her lapping up water echoing as Aria struggles back to her feet.

"You- this, this isn't fair! I grew up! I'm stronger!"
Mom laughs, eyes shimmering with mirth.
"Stronger than before, little one. Not stronger than me. You've got a long way to go, yes."
She turns to you, her smile showing more than a little fang.

You suddenly feel very small.

"Well, well. Done with hunting already?"
"Ah- Yes, we, er, Sheszka led us right to some prey-"
She advances on you as she speaks. You retreat. Aria looks on, pity etched over her features.
"Er, I thought, maybe, you could teach her a bit of fighting? She's very fast. And she bites, yes- aha ha ha-"

She's right before you now, cornering you at the edge of the arena, a second training spear held firmly in her grip.
"Oh, yes, spiderling. Of course. But first, I would like to see how much you have improved, yes?"
Your sweat is cold. Desperate. There's no escape.
>>
>>35052997
"Yes, of course, I'll just-"
"No, no, Lyra. Leave the armour on."
You whimper.

Your lying side by side with your sister, groaning. Blessing of the god of protection nothing, you can barely move. Her spear was closer to a snake than a stick of wood- twisting around your weapon, thumping your hands, your neck, pushing your legs wrong when you tried to move. She took you to pieces.

You prop yourself up as best you can, watching your mother laughingly lead the wolf-girl through a series of drills- She showed her a couple of strikes, and now has her repeating them, explaining how repetition of each will strengthen them all. Aria groans next to you, but she manages a weak laugh.

You turn, and find her lying sideways, watching you.
"At least- At least you got thumped, too. I thought I'd gotten close to her, yes."
"Mmng. I thought the same a week in, yes? And she flipped me upside down and told me to work harder."
You both share a laugh, though it dissolves halfway into more moaning.

"I remember. I should've known."
"Hmm."
"Lyra- I.... I want to be stronger. So much stronger."

She's tilted her head back, eyes following your mother as she corrects Sheszka's stance, lifting her arms to the right posture.
There's a keen note in her voice, dedication, a wish. A dream.
"She's- She's amazing. Even without armour, and her spear- I tried asking to wrestle, and she threw me. Like nothing."
You hold your peace, and she continues.
"I wanna be like that. I want to stand beside her. Beside you. You were- I.... I was afraid. At the ruins. The little skeletons, they were nothing, but the big ones- And she just destroyed them. She didn't slow down, and, and you were right beside her. I wanna be there, Lyra. More than anything."

She watches you closely, your mouth opening and closing as you struggle to find the words.

The post that REQM was replying to was:
>Did the brothers evolve?
>Will we get to see the XP bonus that each sibling has?
>Do they still have a chance to increase the size of their bonus?
One question for the brothers specifically, and two for all siblings.
And REQM's post answered the questions in order.

Sheszka flops bonelessly in front of you as you set to work- You stretch her out, measuring the silk against her body, snipping bits and pieces away, clothes taking shape in your hands. Kind of. Mostly.

The underwear is easy enough, anyway. A simple breast band, a pair of panties.

Sheszka wearing nothing but them and running around the nest excitedly, that was new.

You do your best to tune out your families laughter, stitching together two haves a new shirt, long strips of fabric looping out and down. You manage to catch the wolf as she speeds by you again, wrestle her into submission, and pull the shirt over her head.

It takes a few more tries before you convince her to hold her arms up as you do it. She sits next to you in the aftermath, running her fingers over the cloth in awe, mouth agape.

You forge ahead, fingers flying as you string together a skirt. Hm- Pleated would probably work, yes? Folds, string through the top to draw it together- It looks a bit off, but it's definitely a skirt. You set them aside.

Finally, shorts. The pinnacle of your tragically short sewing career. The pieces come together like magic, forming perfect piece- the garment known only as shorts. You hold them up, exulting, and turn to your wayward charge, clothes in hand-

And blink, slowly.

She turns to face you, somehow reacting to your presence despite her inability to see.

Because she has pulled the skirt on over her head.

Muffled, frantic laughter echoes around the nest as you and Sheszka face off. You giggle yourself, reaching out and pulling the clothing off her face, revealing an excitable smile and warn eyes.
"Soft."
"Mhm. Stand up, yes?"
>>
>>35055390
She picks herself up, delicately lifting one leg after another as you show her how to wear her clothes. Clad in her newfound 'armour', she battens down next to you, lying across the floor.

Your works continues- A patchwork of scraps forms a simple bag, a pair of loops for straps. A backpack!

A gurgling noise draws your attention back to the wolf- Her stomach rumbles, and she licks lips, watching the food pile carefully. You laugh aloud, setting the back aside, dragging the your newest family member towards the food pile as your brothers pull themselves into the nest.

The family settles into a warm circle, and dinner begins. It tastes that much better together.

>Arachne set it in one month, harpies do the same.
Since it's been about ~20 days, Aria, Sara, Elle, Ephram, and Zach still have a chance to increase their growth rate if they try.
Elle can do it with increasingly complex weaving and tailoring.
Aria just needs to fight something with us.
Sara would probably like to blow up something with magic.
And as for the boys....maybe they'd like to hunt something REALLY big with us?

The lower platform wraps around the tree, partially- the leftmost side curves up and provides a half roof. Above is the disk that makes up the training arena, along with the entrance to mom's armoury. The top of the tree is used as well, but there isn't a woven platform.

>>35055718
Mom wears her ring on a chain around her neck when she takes it out. Otherwise, she keeps it in the tree. They managed to find a priest willing, so they are in fact married. Dad surprised her with the dress.

>>35055913
It's that and the Birds and the Bees talk, our meta knowledge of how spiders coupulate to in-story reality is going to be funny. Father isn't really on adventure.
>>
>>35055762
>>
>>35055878
We could have Sara, Elle, and Sheszka work with the brothers.
>>
>>35056670
Team selection is difficult.
Maybe let's just go on a huge all-family hunt for something REALLY big.
Then make all sorts of cool shit out of whatever it is.
>>
>>35056779
that would be fun, and I really want to see spider-mom Nialla evolve before we leave the nest.
>>
>>35056967
Power-leveling Mom, by having her worry about us.
She gained 14 levels by that. 8 more from the undead fight.
>>
>>35057058
she seems to be a really progressive mother.

And based on what we heard from her, she probably got stuck at a medium or slow xp rate, because her mother kept her inside for WEEKS after the dungeon episode, probably more than long enough for her to become an Adult and lock in her xp rate.
>>
>>35057058
>>35056967
With how thoroughly mom schooled both Lyra and Aria, both 2nd-tier monsters and with a level difference that isn't that large, without much effort, shows that it's not just level and tier that equals strength, but that age is a factor as well.
I think we would need not just a higher level, but also at least two tiers, if not three, before we could fight Nialla on an equal footing.

Also, I'm worried about Elle and the twins.
Our grandmother was over 100 years old, still in prime physical condition, and she got taken out by some monster living in the Arachne section of the forest.
If someone like her could be killed before help could arrive, then I'm worried for our siblings who haven't even gotten to the second tier of evolutions yet.
>>
>>35057338
We gained 24 levels from the undead fight, so she has 1/3 of the xp gain. Thats if she gained the same amount. She could fought twice as hard as us in that fight.
>>
>>35057544
she probably did considering how many she killed.

I am betting more in the 1/8th-1/10th xp gain though, we are only ~20 levels short of her evolution level when she became a mother.

i suspect it took her many years to even reach the first evolution, she already knew and was adventuring with our father when it happened, and if she is ~30 years old then that is a LOT of adventures to only be 3/5ths of the way to her 3rd evolution before having us kids.
>>
>>35057724
and by first evolution I mean her current evolution.
>>
Since this world works on objective "levels" used by the Gods to grant evolutions and blessings, we should ask Mom if magic items have some kind of requirement.

Our previous life's experiences with RPG's already was shown to have a parallel with the levels we gain and with the classification of magic items.
We should see if any more of our RPG experience translates into actual and concrete realities in this world.
