LAST EPISODE: You stole government property.
- - -

Sachiko and Yurei are trapped inside the containment unit.
And the day had been going SO well.

Pulling the tech off her is a bad idea, obviously. The only solution that has a chance of success is for someone to go in and get them out. Of course, that was, in theory, what the pair were trying to do in the first place.
However, you guys are professionals…you almost feel confident enough when you say that to not have to put it in quotation marks.

Sato is already pulling out machinery and hooking things up to other things.

Star is pouring through the GB database, getting everything she can on how to put a person’s spirit back into their body, and containment unit excursions.

Akira is talking to Kali and Kaede, politely, about what the hell happened.

Damned fools, oh well hopefully a Psyker's soul is more powerful than a regular soul.

In the least she could've tried to hijack a containment Molecular Destabilization Suit and gone in themselves than putting in their freaking Soul.

We're not gonna make that damn mistake. We're going in there with full packs (set to a frequency that works) and oxygen tanks and pulling them out.

The original cartoon one and the Extreme Ghostbusters suit entrances seemed to differ a bit. The one Egon used actually did destabilize his molecules and required he be sucked in like a ghost. He could be in there for one hour before the effects became permanent.

By the time of the ExtremeGhobusters they managed to install a special room leading to an access hatch. That one let Eduardo carry a proton pack with him, not sure if that one actually destabilized him. That one didn't seem to destabilize him, but made the journey limited by how much oxygen he could bring.

I think the latter is better.

The ghostbusters extreme one didn't need you to be destabilized, it just opened up a portal where solid things could be sucked in (or pulled out).

When they weren't able shut the hatch door, Egon used the manual controls to shut off power to the portal (by promptly smashing it with his wrench).
>>
You head over to Star.

"Okay, so." Star says. "This is FAR from the first time something like this has happened. We have options."

"Options?" You ask.

"We can try a Molecular Destabilization Suit, an Astral Simulacrum Projector, or a Remote Possession Avatar." Star says. "We can get one of them set up quick enough."

"Alright, so what are the details?" You ask.

"Well, the MDS is where we dress you up in a etched out scuba suit and send you, body and soul, inside the unit. That lets you have probably the biggest host of options...but one wrong move and you're dead." Star says. "The ASP is where we...kind of do what Sachiko and Yurei did. We send your spirit into the Unit and keep your body safe out here. There's record of Still Living Spirits having special powers, as recorded when Central took on some mobsters, so you'll be safer, and maybe have superpowers...but no tech." She shrug. "And the RPA is we muck up a robot out of tech and slime and put your consciousness in it. Like that stupid movie. Only this time you'll be able to kick ass in it." She says. "We can set it up with GB tech too, and you'll be the safest...but it's still a remote connection, and all that it implies.

"So, got a favorite?"

"Get the suit ready." You say.

Star smirks. "So you can charge in and rescue your lady love?" She chuckles. "You're not exactly the most subtle, you know."

"Shut up." You say.

"Although, I have to tell you, if you're trying for the harem end with Reika, Sana, AND Sachiko...Akira and Sato will kill you before they allow it to happen." She smirks.

"Shut up!" You say.

"Alright," She prints out the schematics for the MDS. "Give this to Sato and start putting things together. Hopefully we have all the stuff that we need. Especially since we're doing this at a blind run."

You snatch the paper away from Star. "Thank you."

You head over to Sato and you both get started in building the suit. You really hope that you've got enough stuff to make the suit, or at the very least fake it.

Well, you don't have the recommended parts, you don't even have the recommended alternative parts. However, you are able to make an MDS that qualifies as functional.

Barely.

"Well...it passes all the checks and the seals are tight." Sato sighs. "But it's..." He looks at the thing. It looks less like the schematics, and more like a robot costume from a 1940's pulp sci-fi movie. Big, bulky, possibly fragile, and NOT comfortable.

"Do you think we can afford to waste time building option B?" Sato asks.

"I dunno." You say. "Could you mock something up while someone's inside with that thing?"

"Maybe, but that means fewer people will be monitoring things on this side. I mean, they've got redundancies for when things go wrong now, but...they need people on the other side to make sure that they work."

"Okay," Akira says, joining you two. "Short version of how this happened. Kayako's mother has been hanging out in Sachiko's dreams ever since she possessed her back when we visited her place. You know Sachiko's power increase? It's thanks to her. Kayako's mother promised Sachiko more power and knowledge, and that she would leave her alone, if she could free Kayako's true soul and let her pass on."

"And Kayako found out from Yurei that the containment unit was knocked out thanks to the PKE blast that GB: LA did." Sato says. "They muck something up, go inside..."

"And get trapped." Akira says. "So...is this death trap plan A?"

"Pretty much." Sato says. "We could try and build another, but we barely had enough stuff to make this one."

"Could we scrap it and try something else?" Akira asks.

"Maybe, but we'd lose more time." Sato says.

Can the PAGAN leader(I forgot her name) write some Imperial Decrees on the suit and on paper seals for us, declaring to Heaven and Earth that we are her agent on the current plane of existence where this agent is operating, and therefore has the full protection and endorsement of the Imperial House?

It may not work, but it's worth a shot.

>>
>>35116551
>declaring to Heaven and Earth that we are her agent on the current plane of existence
Problem with that is the Containment unit isn't exactly heaven or earth, nor on our plane of existence.

Also it would take something of extraordinary power to let any PKE even seep into the Containment unit, which is designed to hold an entire ghost dimension and what equates to the power of a god inside.
>>
>>35116612
I thought having the seals underneath the suit would let them pass through.
The decree would need to be changed to also include all worlds, and it may have some effect on the conformist ghosts of Japan.
>>
Finally made it on time. I've done a archive binge and looked at the attack plan from last week, and a thought occured to me. The Asset 4 that the enemy have to keep their phones off for, I think it's The Pulse or Kairo if we want to use the Japanese name. Basically, internet ghost, turns people into dust if they use things like cell phones, computers, and TVs. Considering the target area and their other plans, they are likely going to use it to absorb SHIT TONS of souls, then use it to power up the first Asset for Ms No Face's takeover. Got a few other thoughts as well, but that is the big one.
>>
Divine warding against those who have assailed Japan's populace? General enough.

"Let's go with the deathtrap." You say and you take a step forward. "We can't leave them in there for any longer than we need to."

"And YOU think you're the one who's going to go inside that thing?" Akira asks.

"Can we not do this now, Akira?" You ask.

"Look, I don't want anything to happen to them, just as much as you. But what if they'r being held hostage, and the ghosts say that they won't them go unless we let everyone else go?"

"I wouldn't agree to something like that!" You say.

"Yeah, but I don't think you'd be willing to make a tough choice if you'd have to." Akira says. "Not when someone you care about is on the line."

"And you would?" You snap back.

"Yes. Keeping that grid sealed is more important than Sachiko or Yurei, AND we're one of the few people who can help Tokyo survive the Conjunction, so WE'RE more important than they are...and if I had to pick between Sachiko and Yurei. I'd leave Yurei in there in a shot. I don't think you're capable of doing that."

"I'm capable of a lot of things." You snap.

"As long as there aren't any names attached." Akira says.

"BOYS!" Star says. "Sato, why don't YOU go?"

"I...umm..." Sato frowns and then nods. "I can do it."

"Sato, you're the only one who knows how half of this stuff works." Akria says. "We need you out here...and Daisuke..." He sighs. "Daisuke, you're not as expendable as I am."

"What?"

"Face it. We know who people see as the leader. I fucking HATE it, but it's the truth. You are a good leader." Akira says. "I'm just a hotheaded grunt. This is too risky to risk someone like you."

"Akira..." Star says, softly. "We...we need you too."

Gods possibly only hold power in their dimension and on earth, in their ancestral region of worship or where people believe in them most.

But since most of the ghosts in the Containment Unit are Japanese it might work. . .but then again, did we not also only put in the ghosts in there who rebelled against the gods and the greater order in the first place?

>>
>>35116878
Maybe something like "my choice led to this, so it's my responsibility?"
>>
Akira's logic is odd.

The only reason we are going in there is because we care about both Saichiko and Yurei. This is a purely quest of personal interest to us.

If he really cared about the Grid security, he would be advocating to just leave Saichiko and Yurei inside entirely while we focus on the bigger things.

I mean, it's not like they could die in there...

"Akira, if all you care about is the Grid Security then that's PROOF we're the ones who should go, because that's the only reason we are going.

We care about Saichiko and Yurei. YOU stay out here and make sure the Grid doesn't leak."

I'd second this.

Akira needs to focus on keeping everything in. How can he do that if he's inside and not outside?
>>
>>35116864
And why I said it might be important. If it's full strength, she could very easily take the entirety of Tokyo before putting up the bubble and get a lot more souls than the other three avatars combines. Besides, for all this talk of 4 being a deadly number, it's odd that we didn't find a 4th avatar. On the plus side, it probably lacks a suitable ghost to take on it's story so we might not have to deal with a full power Kairo.

We're going to need someone to make sure that nothing else escapes. That's your job."

Akira rolls his eyes. "Sure. Fine."

You're suited up. It's very uncomfortable, hot, and it pinches in all the wrong places.

"Isn't there supposed to be an airlock?" You ask.

"That's for Central's big unit." Star says. "We're going to have to basically destabilize you, and then incarcerate you."

"Wait, you're going to BUST me?" You ask.

"To get you in, yes." Sato says. "Now. You see these little spheres?" He attaches a few things that look like GB-Tech versions of those little glowy-flashlight balls that are covered with clear soft rubber, the kind that people toss to each other during raves.

"Yeah?"

"You hand one of them to Yurei and Sachiko." Sato says. "They hold onto it for four seconds straight. And that's long enough for me to get a lock on them in the unit, separate their PKE signatures, and withdraw them out and back into Sachiko's body and Yurei's Chyme. I think."

"You THINK?" You ask.

"Going at a blitz pace, remember?" Sato says. "Central's done this before, don't worry!"

"Ugh, and how do I get out?" You ask.

"When we put you in, there should be a zone. You get back to the zone, and we can pull you out." Star says.

"A 'zone'?" You ask.

"Things inside the unit are endlessly variable, we have NO idea what it's going to look like." Star says. "So 'zone' is the best I can do. It's also why we need Akira playing goalie, because yes, as long as you're in there, the containment unit will have a tiny, tiny, crack in it."

"Great." You sigh. "Alright, let's do this."

"Step into this circle." Sato says.

"Is that an Sega Activator?" You ask. "Where did we get one of those?"

"You'd be surprised how many old video game peripherals we have." Sato says. "Or how useful that old junk is."

"They're VINTAGE!" Star huffs.

You stand in the Activator and there's a humming and a few lights.

Then every part of you REALLY hurts for a second and your liver is very thirsty, while your kidneys have a headache.

Then you're standing next to a cherry blossom tree in a black and white world.

You look around. The world is bereft of color, save for the tree that you're standing next to. It's blossoms are a normal pinkish white, but in this world it makes a statement.

That must be the marker of the 'breach zone.'

You look around. There's not much to see, long rolling plains of grey grass, and the occasional tree with grey leaves.

No wind. No sound, save your breathing inside the suit. No real sign of life.

With two exceptions.

Across the field, you see a large stone tower. It looks like something out of a fantasy movie. A circular building made out of grey stones, it's very very wide. Probably the size of a football stadium, and about as tall as a regular sized building in downtown. You can hear and see activity coming from it.

The other, sitting across from the Tower, is a large palace. You...you actually recognize it. It's a perfect replica of the palace that was used in Kurosawa's 'Throne of Blood.'

You also notice that there's signs of activity there as well.

As long as you don't actively bump into anyone, or talk to anyone, you're slightly invisible...but don't push it.

Maybe a quick equipment check? PKE meters, Goggles, the Dimensional Compensators on our packs.

Especially since we're in the containment world, our equipment might not work right. Everything could be backwards, so let's see if reversing the frequencies makes stuff work.

For as much as we care for world saftey, GB is inherently a business oriented company run by perhaps some of the most greediest individuals in existence.

Indeed, but the fact she matches with the story so well could just make her a REALLY good canidate to be the avatar of The Pulse. Though, with all we've done, it might actually help us there. We've done a lot of good, helped her build good memories, and made it so she's not lonely; which is the main catalyst for The Pulse.

Hell, maybe we could subvert the pulse? Less lonlyness, more togetherness and force feed the positive energy into Madam No Face? After all, while the pardon might weaken her, I don't think it will be that easy either.

The tower doesn't really have an entrance, it just has a large archway that leads to the inside of the tower.

The tower turns out to just be a hollow shell. The wall is all there is. The inside of the tower, is filled with ghosts.

Small clumps of ghosts are talking to each other, there's a ring of ghosts watching two other ghosts fight, and it seems that there's a bunch of ghosts leaning against the inner wall of the tower and smoking.

It looks like a prison yard. Only, you don't recognize some of the ghosts here. Oh, most of them you do. Maid ghosts, and poltergeists and all those small jobs, and there's that dessert ghost from the love hotel.

But you don't recognize some of these others. Ghosts wearing yellow clothing, ghosts with deer heads, or tribal masks, or...

Holy shit, that's the Grundel.

You recognize THAT guy from the database. He's talking to a Maid ghost...and is he flirting with her? Ughh...

Then you see it. A ghost walks out from a glowing part of the inner wall, a ghost dressed in celtic leathers, and the dessert ghost then walks into the wall and disappears.

This IS a prison yard...one that's connected to the other containment units.

Before you panic, you do notice one thing that's a little reassuring, none of the Foreign Ghosts are able to leave the tower. You see one of them leaning against the open space of the tower's entrance. Your ghosts, seem to be free to walk to the palace or back.

As vulnerable as ghosts are in the Ghost world, good news is there isn't anyway death can get to them in here. Rules seem to be in place here that prevent other bigger ghosts from just eating up all the smaller ghosts, otherwise someone like Fenris would've swallowed all the ghosts in Central's unit.

Doesn't mean they can't be caught or coerced by other unsavory means.

>>35118553
Yurei is vulnerable to becoming a Pulse ghost, which basically is more of an epidemic than a haunting, and Sachiko is vulnerable to becoming that one Corpse Party ghost.

A tall lanky ghost, of a man wearing a hyena pelt over his head walks up next to you. He's acting casual, but you can hear him quietly say.

"Hosh kerel. Pike ovah that gully or you gon find yah late and totally miff."

You pause. Okay, you know that in the Ghostworld a light case of glossic crossover is not unheard of. So, even though he probably wasn't speaking Japanese, you still understood him.

That being said, you have NO goddamn clue WHAT he was saying.

He gestures to an empty piece of wall. Ah, he wants to talk to you alone.

You calmly head over to the wall, and he leans against it. It looks like he's picking insects out of his pelt.

"Wonderin' how I can see you?" He asks with a chuckle.

You say nothing.

"Hmph, you here for the stukkie that the toff's tannies junked here?" He says. "Maybe I know a things or two on where the condai threw her."

Okay...you THINK this guy is saying that Yurei got moved to another Tower yard, where the ghosts keep all the ones who don't 'fit in' with the general public.

You lick your lips and quietly mumble. "The other one?"

"Man, I dunno. All I hear is big peher at the house, and then BAM, they toss in tha stukkie and tell us to put her on ice." Heyna shrugs.

"Why help me?" You ask. This could be a trap.

"Tch, I ain't helpin. I'm just letting you know, what I know. That way, next time one of the spiders slink through, they know that I did a solid, and maybe they let me creep through crack with them." He shrugs. "S'all there is to know."

Hyena walks away from the position.

So, Yurei isn't in this Tower, and Sachiko's probably in the mansion.

Like the guy said, all of the ghosts here are the ones that hate the Ghostbusters. He's only helping because he figures that turning informant might get him in good with Anansi.

Whoever we grab is likely to raise an alarm as soon as we let them go, or lead us into a trap, unless we provide them with something.

>Okay, if they've just locked Yurei up, then that means she's in a bad place, but Sachiko's probably in a lot more pressing danger. Leave and go to the Mansion.
Sachiko's soul is that of a living person. She can be killed, right? So let's make sure that we save her first, since Yurei can't be killed by other ghosts in here.
>>
>>35121473
The ghosts from the other places seem to be confined to that strange tower when "visiting" other places. Less holes being created to each other, more a central hub is being developed.

That's still kind of disturbing. It'd mean they'd be able to communicate and coordinate, and that the tower would be the most dangerous place of all.

The original Ghostbusters did it, so there's precedent.

Hell, I'd wager that essentially as a disembodied soul given ethereal form like the rest, many of the rules that apply to ghosts apply to her right now.

>>35121590
If it were that easy, Kayako would've died the first time she reenacted her suicide.

A body without a soul isn't good, but that's what Saichiko is right now. Our job here is to get it back.

Thankfully, nothing leaves or enters the containment unit. Not even death itself.

>>35121592
But that seems disrpoven by the fact that it hasn't happened already.

Surely by now the biggest fish would've eaten all the others and essentially we'd have one coalesced being in a contianment unit we'd be feeding, but here they've even developed some sort of prison system where they detain those who don't get along and probably a hierarchy of sorts too.

No, I mean bringing ghosts willing to work for us out of the Containment Unit, treat them like criminals with a chance for parole, instead of like vermin and filth that we keep contained inside of a concentration camp, waiting for us to get the furnaces up and running.

Sure, they're a threat to humans and society if they were free, but that doesn't change the fact that if the Ghostbusters had the technology and the resources available, the Containment Unit would immediately become the Dispersal Unit.

>but that doesn't change the fact that if the Ghostbusters had the technology and the resources available,
We don't though, and we likely never will for any significant number.

Not only would it be a logistical nightmare to both track and overwatch so many ghosts capable of going places few humans could follow, but any such system could easily be broken and corrupted either by trickery or force.

We don't just keep them in there because they are a threat, we keep them in there because they are safe in here as well. Many ghosts we capture are naturally a danger to themselves or others, not because of their actions, but by nature, such as some the Aspects of Oiwa.

The only ghosts even in here in the first place are the ones who are clearly such a threat and are definitively unable to act peaceably such as the "quiet ones" we leave alone.

>waiting for us to get the furnaces up and running.
Besides the obvious reference, if we did figure out a way to manually and permanently dissipate their ethereal form, we would be replicating the same process that we've seen happens when they pass on. We've seen that souls pass on and leave behind all their ties to this world, physical or ethreal. The lights are here one moment, the next, gone without a trace.

But as we cannot even do that, all we can do is contain them, and we'll be sure to let them out once Judgement day comes and trumpets sound.
>>
>>35121862
>Hop back into the portal and try again.
Since ghosts form other Containment Units can only stay within these towers, the lockdown for snitches is going to be one of these towers, not outside of them.
So they should be readily apparent.

And Hyena was able to see us; what's to keep someone else, who isn't angling for CI status, to see us and raise the alarm?

That wouldn't explain the entire tower devoted to ghost snitches who worked for or are sympathetic towards the Ghostbusters.

As for the tracking collars, we can get the designs from Central, and it wasn't a particularly difficult or expensive piece of equipment. And the original Ghostbusters did treat Shifter in the manner of a CI, and gave him his freedom even though he had been busted before.

Okay, we've got some options, there's a lonely looking girl dressed in modern clothing. She's alone and no-one's near her.

There's a guy smoking against the wall near the portal. He's a malformed ghost, every part of him looks wrinkled, saggy, and old.

Then there's a small kid, sitting by himself, by the entrance. He's leaning against the wall, so he's not from here. He looks American, you think.

Those are the most obvious targets.

Also, there's your approach. You can go in and boldly grab the ghost, hostage style. You can try for the subtle 'don't turn around' method as you poke your neutrino wand into their back, or you can try the diplomatic route and just talk to them. That ALWAYS works.

One ghost here and there perhaps, and even then there is a risk.

Again, it isn't that the collars are expensive it's that the risk it presents are. How can we be sure they aren't taken off by someone else such as the various Yakuza or others who want to take em? Who and how will we ensure the tracking of so many ghost.

Instead of freeing them into the human world and trying to track them in the human world, perhaps we could at least move them to the Ghost World with good behavior? Where they do have organized society and systems of justice?

Buster was another friendly Ghost to the Ghostbusters who had taken up several different jobs in the ghost world, most notably as tooth fairy, but evidently got busted by their version of the police after he tried to perform illegal dentistry.

At least by reintegrating them back into Ghost Society and the ghost world they have less of a chance of harming people, even unwittingly. And we can rely on their civil authority to keep them in check than putting the burden of policing them all when we should be focusing on the most deadly.

We give them the ghosts who have been helping us and have had good behavior, they give back the various human interlopers or cultists who invaded the underworld and have been of service to them. People and ghosts get put back into their respective realms.

There's also a giant mass of ice, ice that has people, or ghosts, frozen inside them.

And between them and you, is a giant wolf, with ice blue eyes that are giving off smoke.

You are facing Fenris.

Alone.

I'm sorry to end it early, but the fact that you guys decided to kick the hornet's nest kind of killed most of the stealth plots I had planned.

Taking the hostage wasn't the bad idea, but what made you guys think that a prisoner would be willing to talk in a friendly manner to a lone guard?

Anyway, I'll figure out how the fight is going to work and we'll pick up from there.

NEXT EPISODE

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2ND, 3-5PM PST
>>
>>35122926
Was going for Yurei first the trap option?
>>
>>35122926
I really don't think we understanding how to weigh risks in this quest.

Like I do not see this as a logical chain of events from our actions.
>>
>>35122997
Are we going to get a breather episode after this?
>>
>>35122926
If we selected ASP mode, we could've Human Torched this pooch. Time to figure out how we gonna get our Flame On.
>>
>>35122997
I didn't really think that they would have had the ability to control where we get directed.

Also, I'm not really sure how effective threatening anyone would be, since we can't kill them, and there's a lot more of them than there are us.
>>
>>35123039
I mean shit, that's the opposite of how a ghostbuster is supposed to operate on sheer principle. We're supposed to act in large groups taking down singular tagets, one at a time in coordination.

Not one man hero stunts, at best that's stealth and recon which is what we were supposed to do, NOT engage them in any direct way whatsoever.
>>
>>35123078
I guess personally I figured that any response to a threat would be definitely met with derisive laughter and violence.

While trying to be diplomatic would only PROBABLY be met with that.
>>
>>35122997
I don't get how we kicked the Hornet's Nest. We asked one ghost, ONE GHOST, then suddenly we're fighting Fenrir.
That's kind of a huge disconnection there. It's like going up to someone and asking the time and then suddenly fighting Godzilla for no reason.
>>
>>35123121
I think the ghosts are way way way WAY more connected than we thought, and this speaks to a huge problem for all branches of ghostbusters.
>>
>>35123121
Where do you think we are?

This is where we keep beings like Godzilla.

>>35123147
Serioulsy this, I stated this earlier.
Jumping into the portal and towers only increased our chances of this type of encounter.

The towers are major communication hubs, it's only fitting that they be where the head honcho's are.

Basically, we fucked up royally.
>>
>>35123039
>they would have had the ability to control where we get directed.
>>35123012
>I do not see this as a logical chain of events from our actions.
They didn't direct where we came out, we did.
This is where Yurei is, as Hyena said, 'on ice'.
Along with all of the other ghosts that don't hate the Ghostbusters.

That's why Fenris got selected as the enforcer.

>>35123098
They can still feel pain, you know. They may not like pain.

>>35123121
>I don't get how we kicked the Hornet's Nest.
So you don't get how that ONE GHOST could raise the alarm when we're in stadium full of ghosts that want to tear us apart? Really? You don't see that at all?
>>
>>35123147
It's still a huge disconnection. Mainly because it half feels like all of them were trap options, and half because it feels like Ghostmaster ran out of ideas and just "LOLFENRIRNOW!"

>>35123164
Godzilla isn't a Ghost though. Also, he's a mostly beneficial kaiju.
>>
>>35123164
Our only path, just as Eduardo was, is to NOT engage Fenris directly. We need to grab Saichiko and Yurei, grab them OUT of here and try not to get killed in the process.

>>35123174
You get the fucking point, this is where we keep the major badguys all in one tiny freaking spot, and the towers is where they come together in this tiny tiny spot. of course if we misstep we'll encounter this situation.
>>
>>35123169
>So you don't get how that ONE GHOST could raise the alarm when we're in stadium full of ghosts that want to tear us apart? Really? You don't see that at all?
No. Especially since we're jumping through multiple containment units, it's was only a small amount of time between then and us going through the portal, and that ghost raising the alarm in that unit shouldn't end up with LOLFENRIR.
>>
>>35123187
You missed the part where we came here BECAUSE we were focusing on Yurei?
Did you really miss that this was where we were ultimately trying to get to?
>>
>>35123187
>and that ghost raising the alarm in that unit shouldn't end up with LOLFENRIR.
Why the hell not? We chose to jump into the damn portal.

A ghost gets an alarm and instantly sends a telepathic message to the rest.

In less than a fraction of a second, those in control manipulate the portal to the guards and gatekeepers. Normally they would come out to take us, but instead we jumped directly to them.

Fenris is one such thing, look at all the trapped beings.
>>
>>35123187
Agreed. This Fenrir encounter seems a tad unfair.

We apparently would have encountered him anyway if we found the right portal.
>>
>>35123187
We ended up with LOLFENRIR because we jumped through the randomization portal.
The ghost raising the alarm didn't just MAKE Fenrir appear, he was already there and then we were there too.

Besides, time isn't really... a thing on other plains, at least not as we know it.
>>
>>35123185
Except it wasn't really a misstep, and I don't see how. Again, one ghost shouting "They're here." shouldn't involve the next portal we go through be Fenrir.

And I want to point out
>I'm sorry to end it early, but the fact that you guys decided to kick the hornet's nest kind of killed most of the stealth plots I had planned.
It sounds like we're being punished because we backed the QM into a corner and he has no material planned for us outside of Stealth so he threw something big, random and unbeatable at us.

>>35123217
If it was as much as focusing on Yurei, why didn't we come here immediately after stepping through the first portal?

>>35123222
>portal to the guards and gatekeepers
We are the guards and gatekeepers.
>>
>>35123248
>why didn't we come here immediately after stepping through the first portal?
Because we fucked the roll to get where we wanted to, while we succeeded on this roll to get where we wanted to.
It just so happened that getting where we wanted to also happens to be where Fenris hangs out.

Hyena only told us where we need to go; he said outright that he would give us no more than a direction to go towards. Of course he wouldn't tell us about any guards, he doesn't like us any more than the people who want to kill us; he just believes appeasing Anansi is more beneficial than helping us.
>>
Hyena said they were being kept 'on ice'. Way I see it, we were gonna run into this guy, eventually. It just happened later, rather then sooner.
>>
>>35123248
>If it was as much as focusing on Yurei, why didn't we come here immediately after stepping through the first portal?
Because we got a ghost roll on the roll to get where we wanted to, i.e. where Yurei is being kept on ice.
>>
This is a good thing! We wanna take down a bringer of armageddon, anyways. Might as well get some PRACTICE.
>>
>>35123228
Hoping against hope that we only saw Fenrir, and Fenrir didn't see us yet to draw agro.
>>
>>35123248
>Again, one ghost shouting "They're here." shouldn't involve the next portal we go through be Fenrir.
The next Containment Unit Tower we went to, if we didn't end up at Fenris' place, would not have immediately had an alarm up, no.
But not 10 seconds behind us there would have been one of the British ghosts running through, yelling that the Ghostbusters are here.
And that would have been happening to every single other Tower/Containment Unit within the next minute.
And our partial invisibility is down at this point and not coming back.

So THAT'S why he said we kicked over the hornet's nest and the stealth portion is scrubbed.
We have a minute, at most, before every single Tower was on alert for us and our partial invisibility is gone.

Tell me how a stealth portion could possibly work after that.
>>
>>35123403
Really whether or not he saw us is irrelevant.

Fenrir eats gods for breakfast. It's like trying to go one on one with the Devil.
>>
>>35123424
>>35123403
We could try to tell him that his daddy said to not break out and cause Fimbulwinter yet.
>>
For the record, if you had managed to keep the alarm from going off, Fenrir would have been sleeping.
>>
>>35123418
>Tell me how a stealth portion could possibly work after that.
Snake pulled it off. We just need to find a Cardboard Box.
>>
>>35123445
Surt is in here.

>>35123445
We don't know that. Loki isn't exactly predictable.

>>35123452
Wonderful.
>>
>>35123462
Yeah, but Loki isn't.
It could work.
>>
>>35123487
Fenrir doesn't even care to talk to his victims or mortals, he's literally their attack dog. Diplomacy isn't an option with him at least.
>>
>>35123424
>Fenrir eats gods for breakfast.

Luckily, so do we. You don't argue with Dr. Egon Motherfucking Spengler.
>>
>>35123512
Daisuke's no Egon.
>>
>>35122997
>Taking the hostage wasn't the bad idea, but what made you guys think that a prisoner would be willing to talk in a friendly manner to a lone guard?

Harem protagonist powers.
>>
>>35123578
Daisuke has a harem? I thought Sachiko was the only love interest.
>>
>>35123504
Eh, Fenrir is known to talk. The Aesir trapped him originally through trickery and Fenrir was pretty chatty.
The problem is, I don't think we can bind him and he was killed by a god tearing his jaws apart.

If we think up a good plan, we might be able to trick him into letting his prisoners go. But we'd have to run fast, he wouldn't be happy if he realized it.
>>
>>35123593
No, Fenrir was never killed, only chained. Eventually Fenrir eats the moon.
>>
>>35123582
>I thought Sachiko was the only love interest.
Sana
Reika
At one time Yurei
Kuzu

Practically every girl in this quest who isn't kaede has been proposed as the love interest
>>
>>35123628
Pfff. Well screw them. Sachiko a best.

Yurei is also a best, but she's Akira's girl.
>>
>>35123614
>During the battle, Fenrisúlfr will eventually swallow Odin, killing him, and Odin's son Víðarr will move forward and kick one foot into the lower jaw of the wolf. This foot will bear a legendary shoe "for which the material has been collected throughout all time." With one hand, Víðarr will take hold of the wolf's upper jaw and tear apart his mouth, killing Fenrisúlfr.[High follows this prose description by citing various quotes from Völuspá in support, some of which mention Fenrir.

He's killed after he kills Odin during Ragnarok.

>>35123546
Let's hope that plays out in our favor.

Well in Edith Hamilton's Mythology, he eats the moon.

Something something "Daisuke has a way with the ladies" since the beginning of the quest, as acknowledged by every other character.
