/tg/ - Traditional Games

At the time of your untimely death by airplane crash, the last thing you, a 29yrs old Chemical Engingger and fa/t g/uy remember seeing, was your lucky D20 flying off your pocket.

You must have rolled a 20 on some reincarnation table, because next, you were reborn into a new life to a world of swords and sorcery where reality is run by old RPG rules, and you had kept full memories of your previous life!

Recently, you celebrated your 9th birthday with Linda (your mom, age 27), Elli (your family's elf maid, age 118), Athena (your little sister, age 2) and Lyann (your lovely adoptive sister/slavegirl, age 12), and soon after were grounded when your mom found out you had been going into dungeons behind her back.

Your mom couldn't ground you forever (as was her first thought), however, becaise you would miss on school, and your mom is one of those strict-love type of moms that want her son to have the very best education possible.

You are currently in your first day of school after your punisment week at home is over. Your mom was very clear in that you can only go to the dungeon under the school, and that you will have to raise your grades at least into the top 20 for your school.

Need lots of checking and some classes will, as usual, need powering up or toning down.

Specially worried about the archbishop and the archdruid.

Added a couple of secret jobs to the job description area. Since they're not starting jobs, they are not in the starting job trees for any class

The archbishop seems fine and powerful for what it is but the druid feels off and considering only Nomads can become one through the jobs maybe it should fit more with nature than the goddess, maybe more with plants and animals, it currently feels kinda priest-like

You sit in class as the teacher talks about the way in which elements support or control eachother. Some are fairly obvious. For example water "controls" fire, while wood controls earth.

Some are less obvious, such as metal controling wood.

It also seems that the Continent of Sorcery, in the west, uses different elements as the basis of their magic. They still have the same total elements, but while wood and metal are considered rare over here, they are widely used in Western sorcery.

(Technically you are using north EASTERN sorcery, after all)

As lunch break rolls over, do you want to go check the chess club, talk with Okaba, or go study at the library?

Talk with the Chess Club.
We are the President, and so it's up to us to come up with club activities and Year-End Projects.

Float the idea of a public chess tournament to get people interested, as well as to provide members with a public way to show off their skills.

You start making a habit of going over to the chessclub room every day after lunch.

As usual, it seems to be mostly dwarves inside, albeit a few folks frm other races are in there, as well.

You notice Okaba is playing with a girl you hadn't seen in the club before. It is rather surprising to see him alone.

Aura is nowhere in sight, and his usual fangirls aren't around, either.

Meanwhile, Honoria, the dwarven princess, is playing chess with ...Grummir?

As you head over, he greets you and explains that he wanted to know how you were doing, and if you were going to restart dungeondelving soon.

While he was around the school grounds, he spotted his princess, and naturally came into the room to pay his respects.

"Interesting game, really."

You talk with him for a while and play a match with him. Once you explain to him that your mom is alright with you going into the school dungeon only, he suggests that they should try and rush down then, towards higher leveled mobs.

He strokes his golden beard, thinking.

"It feels honestly strange to think of you as a kid, you know?"

"I would be grateful if you dont"

"Well, I will at least try to be careful and cover you more"

"Thankyou"

He asks you if it would be alright for him to start making some metal sets and selling them at his shops.

That gives you an idea

A dwarf giving up a chance to make a profit?
Unlikely.

As for the Archbishop, I think it's good for the high level Job that it is.
You may want to write out any limitations that Raise has, such as the condition of the body, whether it can be done on anyone or only party members, and if there's a time limit that you must Raise a person within after they die.
>>
>>35261036

I don't see why not, we can let him sell the normal metal sets and we can see about a consignment with any magical tye sets if we do that.

We have othwr products that likely we need to make contact with someone else to sell through.

****

After talking with him for a bit, we agree to let him sell normal ones for a comission, and take orders for us to make magical ones.

We assure him that we'll go to the dungeon with him every three days as usual starting tomorrow, and go greet Okaba.

He's talking with a petite girl.. albeit when you get closer you realize she's not specially small, she's just young. Probably around your age.

She's also the first person with black hair you have seen in this world. Everyone else seems to have red, brown, purple, blonde, etc. But this is the first person you have seen with dark hair.

No, not just dark, black. A black so dark as to be a bottomless black hole, yet somehow giving off a gentle and soft impression.

Her features are what you would think of as oriental in your old world.

"Ah, Eldric, I am happy to see you" -Okaba starts making conversation with you for a bit while the girl seems to unconsciously shrink away from you, looking down at her lap, at Okaba, or at the chessboard.

You get a very clear impression of "delicate" and "timid" out of her.

Yes, a very timid child. Well, you can understand it. She looks to be about your shame age, but you know your mental age is definitively that of an adult. If she's a timid child, there's no helping it.

"Please allow me to introduce you to lady Mako, from the Sorcerers continent" -the prince introduces you- "My lady Mako, this is sir Eldric Lightbringer. He is the president of our club"

"..." -you have the impression that she said "pleasure to meet you". Just... really, REALLY softly

"..." -the young lady nods softly after giving her permission, and Okaba moves over to let you sit across from her

She is probably a bit younger than you are... maybe 7?

Her face and blue eyes are very pretty, but she goes apple-red as soon as she looks at you across the table, then immediately looks back down after rising her hands for half a moment.

You can hear a little "eeep!" coming from her side of the table.

After a while, you notice that she waits for your hand to go completely out of the board every time before she reaches fort with hers, almost immediately, and moves, then hides her hands back under the table.

"Yes, black hair is considered a rarity. The lady Mako is a member of the royal line of Sorcerer kings. She's the youngest of the princesses." -Explains Okaba

Being talked about seems to make her even more nervous. She completely reminds you of a rabbit or some other small animal.

As it turns out, she's in the same class as Honoria, so the three of you may have classes together next year if they or you switch classes.

"She is actually a very gifted sorceress and songstress" -the prince says politely, but that only embarrases her even more, making her go bright red as she covers her pretty face with both hands.

You cannot possibly imagine her singing. She looks like she would just melt from embarrasment, and isint singer a job dependant on charisma?

Isin't that your force of personality and leadership?

"You are the same age, and have similarly distinguished families" -you can guess what he's going to say before he says it- "I was hoping you could be friends"

"Ah... well..." -she looks like a tiny Disney Princess. The good kind, and you are somewhat sure that if she did sing, deer, rabbits and birds would appear in the room.... somehow. She does look like she could break (or melt) at any time, however.

"...sure. I would like the honor, if the lady Mako is alright with me."

"..." -she nods once, softly, and gives a tiny, if luminous, smile

"Well, I see that the lady's scorts have finally found us..."

Two young girls (you guess... 15?), as similar to eachother as two peas in a can, are kneeling behind the lady Mako. You are not sure on how long they have been there.

They are facing down as they kneel, so you can't see their faces. They're wearing the school uniform, and have bright red hair, not unlike Lyann's

"My lady, please don't go off without telling us...." -starts one
"...your shadows. What would we do if one of your hairs got damaged?" -ends the other

"..." -you get an "im sorry" impression.

She checks you and bows politely, then stands up, bows politely again, and goes away with her "shadows". You still somehow were not ale to see their faces, albeit you get the impression they must be pretty.

"Uhmm... the princess liked you" -says Okaba

"Wh-- how would you tell?"

"Well, she wasn't crying."

Just how timid is that princess, really!?

That evening, you go home and study.

Well, we were trapped at home for a week, so we read a lot on the geography or the "Closest Eastern Realms" as the realms you are living in are referred to.

It seems humans came from the western Sorcerer's Continent several thousand years ago, and then expanded east before returning to the western shore. Contact between both continents was interrupted for hundreds of years, and while the human "empire" was a monolithic structure a millenia ago, it naturally crumbled apart after that long period.

It was a process without a single drop of blood shed.

The current realm in the old continent thinks of the Eastern Continent as "the boonies" and don't seem to have any interest in reunification.

Well, if your country is such a backwater place, what is Mako doing studying here with you?

Still, you read a little more on "Near Eastern Kingdoms" and their history, and find that the Alquian empire is the seat of the old Viceroy, and that as backwoods and forgotten as the continent as a whole feels as a whole towards the old realms, Alquia never stopped thinking of itself as a the default seat of power on the continent.

You go downstairs to get some juice from the kitchen

"Young master, can I help you?" -- Elli smiles as we come down from our room
"I just wanted some juice"
"I will prepare some and take it up to you right away, young master. Oh, are you studying?"
"Yes"
"Why don't you sit outside to read? it is a nice evening."
"Thankyou, I think I will."

We go pick up our books and sit outside on the grass under the apple tree.

So, basically, Alquia was the old seat of power in the continent, and their current nobility thinks of themselves as Eastern Nobles, even if they would get laughed at if they ever actually went to the courts there.

Well, hopefully the elves will join your grandfather and help stop them.

After a bit, Lyann and Athena join you, with Lyann sitting next to you to read at the books with you while Athena dozes off in her arms.

"Young master, young miss, here's the juice"
"thank you"
"thanks Elli"

She goes in and comes back with a small, soft cloth hat for Athena

Your baby sister laughs softly

"[Aria of joy] Now active" --appears in front of your eyes. There's a small icon showing a musical note on the top right of your visual field

"Area of Joy, Buff. 1/10th HP regenerated every turn. Source -- Athena Lighbringer"

"Uh..."
"Young Master?"
"...nothing"

You keep studying for a bit. Eventually, the buff effect wears off. It lasted 5 minutes or so.

That's a pretty long time in combat, tho.

Athena is now sleeping.

Remembering when you casted your first fireball, she may be exhaisted because she just used all her MP

A bit later, your mom comes home and tests you on your studies, then everyone has dinner together

The next day, you spot Aura picking up her and Okaba's food plates in the messhall.

Knowing he prince, he's probably in his room, reading about enchanting, or in the chess club again.

Lyann is standing next to you on the line, as usual, holding both your plates.

When Aura picks hers, she comes by and greets you politely.

"Good day, young sir. Are you going to the chess club afterwards?"
"ah, yes"
"Good day" -says Lyann. Aura smiles at her
"Well, let me escort the both of you there, then. I can bring the plates back when you are done."
"Thank you."

You walk together towards the chess club. Amongst the sea of red, blue, white and golden heads, Mako's stands out naturally now that you know it is something to look out for.

You thank Aura for walking with you, and then approach Mako together with Lyann, carrying your foodplate in both hands.

"Lady Mako, good day"
"...!" -you see her go red and look down as she replies softly. You get the impression you've been greeted very politely

It only takes you a second to greet the princess, and then you turn towards her shadows and try to greet them, but they're not there anymore.

"..."
"I-it is nice meeting you, too!" -blurts Lyann, sligthly nervous

You sit down and have lunch while moving the chess pieces with a napkin.

The princess actually looks at you from time to time, albeit each time she blushes and looks down again.

Yup, she has very pretty blue eyes. Reminds you of Lyann's

Speaking of, Mako clings a little bit from Lyann's skirt. Maybe it is because her caretakers are also redheads?

"...geon?" -you actually heard that... but you feel she didin't raise her voice at all. It was the same tiny little whisper it always is.
"Ah... I'm sorry, princess. You want something?"
"Coul... u... with me to... geon?"

Her shadows appear behind her, or perhaps they were always there. You really couldn't tell

"My princess..." -says one
"...you don't need to do that! you are not really..."
"....required to pass grade!" -you honestly can't tell which one is talking now, really.

"..." -she rises and lowers her small hands, softly. She is talking even softer than usual

"P-please calm down, my princess...!" -you get the impression her shadow is panicking a little bit
"...t-there's no need for such harshness!" -says the other

"Ah... lord Eldric, my princess says that, she needs to go into the dungeon as part of her regular curriculum by the end of the year..." -starts one

Well, yes. Going into the dungeon IS part of the curriculum. At the end of year, a teacher will wait for students at the beginning of the second floor, and grade them by how long it took them to cross the first floor to her/him.

Well, the princess has never gone into a dungeon? then it is understandable that she is scared. And apparently she is much too timid to talk to her classmates about it

"Oh... it would be our honor, princess."
"...nk you..." -she says just almost loud enough to be heard, blushing so hard you think she could be into the same category of blushing as Lyann

"And so, we would like to escort you and the princess, my lord" -starts one
"When would it be convenient for you?" -ends the other

Of course, the good old lvl 1 zenites of the first floor arent even going to bruise you if 10 or more of them were to attack you all at the same time.

",,," -you get the very clear impression that you are hearing something really refreshing. As if you had just managed to find an oasis in the middle of the desert as Mako "sings" so very very softly

[Aria of ¨protection] +20 PDV and MDV. -Source, Mako

It really is a breeze to go through the first floor. You feel the buff is completely unnecessary, but it probably helps to boost the princess' confidence to know that she's helping.

The fight with the lvl 1 Zenite Boss is also quite swift. One of the shadows turns out to be a tank-type, while the other is a striker.

[Ami - lvl 19 Silk Fist Initiate/lvl 19 Slave]
[Mai - lvl 19 Silk Fist Initiate/lvl 19 Slave]

Well... they're technically the exact same. Perhaps they simply are used to such roles.

Every time a fight starts, the zenites turn to stone for a round.

It is rather odd to see the small floating stone gloves hover in place instead of falling to the ground.

"Well, I think that was alright, right?" -you comment
"Yes! easy, right!?" -Lyann agrees
"You did great..." -one says
"...my princess!" -ends the other

You raise a thick wall of ashen soil, it easily covers the whole of the hallway. They start attacking it immediately, wasting no time trying to deal with you.

The princess' shadows leap towards the closest enemies and start stabbing, kicking and grappling with them desperately, trying to finish them off as quickly as possible

When Lyann starts dancing and their speed drops to 5", however, they realize it is impossible to run away unless they take her out first.

They draw and shoot several crossbows at the redhead.

"N-no!" -you actually heard Mako speak clearly this time. She has a very lovely voice.

Lyann didin't take any damage, swiftly dodging the bolts while dancing in place.

It looks like battle has begun.

Ami and Mai are your forward fighters this time

Lyann is behing you

No, sorry... its not a bad idea at all, but you cant use stone arrow that way, would have to be a stone spike. Which yes you can do now that you have 11+ ranks in elemental

They are all relatively low-level thugs
They are all villager class, and none of them is beyond the starting jobs.
There's some thieves, some warriors, and 1 wizard
***

"..." -you get a very clear "please help me" impression when Mako looks at you straight in the eye. She's starting to tear up

"You monsters, don't you dare make our princess cry!" -says one
"If you hurt one of her hairs, I'll cut you, and if you bruise her skin, I'll kill you!" -says the other
"In fact, I think I'll kill you anyway!" -they say together as they dissapear at the same time

You see the would-be kidnappers trying to move towards Lyann, who continues dancing in place.

You cast an icearrow spear at the one holding the princess. The spell flies thrue and hits him without hurting her.

As the shadows reappear, stabbing the two closest thieves, the entire enemy party turns to stone for a few seconds.

They drop two of the kidnappers, who collapse to the ground as shattered rocks.

The kidnappers turn back to normal. There's a VERY bloody mess on the floor.

You summon a valkyria to help the shadows.

Lyann uses STOP, and the kidnappers completely freeze for 5 seconds.

For 5 seconds, any attack your party uses will be automatically a critical hit

take Mako back++++

A "5" appears in the air over the shattered kidnappers on the ground

You run past the time-frozen kidnappers and stab the one holding Mako in the eye, sinking your heirloom sword to the hilt and then taking it out.

There's not even a blood splash, since he's frozen in time.

You take Mako and hug her tightly as you pull your sword back, then hold her against you as you aim to the bandits. Your valkyrie take 2 more down. There's only one left

When he comes back from frozen time, he's the only one left.

"Don't kill him!" -you shout

The shadows appear, and the guy doesn't even has time to react and come out of frozen time before turning to stone again.

Your shout stops the shafdows right on time before they stab and break the helpless kidnapper.

The princess hugs you tightly, and starts sobbing. As she cries, her tears start.... bouncing off the ground with a delicate "clink" sound?

When the man comes out from STONE status, he finds two valkyries and 2 redheaded bodyguards aiming their weapons at him.

He throws his sword to the floor

"Yield! I yield!"

You see the numbers floating on top of the others gradually count down to zero from five, and then their bodies dissapear. It seems you only have 5 rounds to be resurrected before the dungeon claims your body. That is quite harsh

Later on...

It looks like these guys were working for the Alquian Empire. They were meant to grab the princess and run off.

There were 4 chariot waiting for them at the edge of the school grounds. The idea was that they would flee in them and then the chariots would split, to confuse any pursuers

The next time this room clears out, a chest will appear with all the kidnappers gold/items?

let's make sure to clear this room with our adventuring party tomorrow. wouldn't be a good idea to hold off attacking the chariots.

Maybe this could get princess mako's homeland to embarass the empire enough that they stop being so aggressive.
>>
>>35264649

Mako is clinging to you, sobbing very softly against your shirt.

Her tears roll all over the dungeon floor, shining softly in the dark.

Once you are out of the dungeon, you immediately call for mom.

She takes you and Mako to one of the empty classrooms while the mage knights take custody of the would-be kidnapper.

Seeing as their accomplices don't show up on time, the chariots took off. They were found abandoned later on.

As it turns out, the Alquian empire has lost the last black-haired descendant from the old continent they had.

This means that they currently have no legitimacy behind their claim of "rightful continental rule in behalf of the empire"

Stealing Mako would have given them that legitimacy, specially if they forced her into marriage with the empire's vizier.

The shadows are hugging and caressing Mako softly while the little princess continues crying.

"W-we are grateful! truly..." -starts one
"...truly grateful!" -says the other

"..........." -Mako whispers something to one of the shadows

"O-of course, my princess!" -she answers immediately

Mako lets go of her bodyguard and slides her small hands through her long, utterly black hair, then after a few moments gives you 4 of her hairs.

One of her shadows had picked up the tears. She offers them to you in a small velvet bag.

"The princess wishes for you to have these..." -starts one
"---she hopes that they will be useful to you" -says the other

x12 [Angel Tear]
x 4 [Original Thread of Night]

You thank the little princess, and the shadows kneel down.

"It is us who are..."
"...incredibly gratefui!"

"...thank you" -the little princess gives you a beaming smile, and her shadows take her away

The dungeon eats the bodies, but can't eat the gear.

So the next time the room gets cleared out, a box with with adventurer gear gets popped instead of the usual item drop.

Hopefully they had their payment on them.
>>
>>35264946
Let's examine the new items with the Ring of Knowledge. Then I suppose we should keep just Wizard, Healer, Paladin, Noble, Scion turned on.

Because if anyone of her descent is like that then they're a slaver's wet dream, *very* high price for her no matter what her job and level.
>>
>>35265073
More than payment or equipment I hope they had something to incriminate the empire. Maybe with enough evidence of the attempted kidnapping some political pressure can be placed on Alquian making dad's job a little bit easier.
>>
>>35264852
>The next time this room clears out, a chest will appear with all the kidnappers gold/items?
yes

That night, mom tells you that the city is giving you 2 of the chariots as a reward for foiling the kidnapping attempt.

"That's pretty stingy, isin't it? it's not like they costed them anything" -says Elli
"Well, its a council of old wizards, I am sure that in their mind, gaining less its already quite generous of them" -says mom

You can take possession of the chariots tomorrow after school

Once in your room, you take the small bag and the envelope with Mako's three hairs, then examine them through the ring.

You will probably have to research them in the library or ask a really good craftsman about it.

As it turns out once you research on it, that's exactly enough materials to create 4 [Angel Ring] which grant Auto Raise to the wearer, enabling you to resurrect at 1/2 HP and MP once per encounter, as well as granting +10 Spell Resistance.

Nothing guarantees that the rings will have slots, however.

You decide to give one to Okaba to experiment with, and keep the other. Your mom looks a bit confused... she's not sure why would they need a coach that big in the garden, but gets some good waterproof sheets to cover it with for the time being.

The little princess starts showing up at your house from time to time.

It feels like you got another 3 sisters, somehow.

Well, the shadows are very beautiful and of nubile age, but while they are very polite at all times, it seems clear that they prefer to keep their distance, so perhaps a new sister and 2 more cats?

A few months pass this way. You study together with Lyann, and sometimes the princess joins you. The shadows start showing up with fruit and bread on every visit.

Due to your constant studying, your Intelligence has gone up by +10

You climb positions steadily in the ranks, and place yourself as #15 in the school.

Your mom decides to ease up on you. You are again free to do whatever you want as long as you can remain within the top 20.

Grummir finishes crafting one of the [Angel Ring]

Two rings with 5 slots is pretty damn good. We're just starving for good cards to put on our stuff. How many Koblod cards do we have at this point?
>>
>>35266546
I took it out from the money. It included your debts and the profits made from eachnings in soap, chess and dungeon rungs

>>35266561
so one ring with 0, one with 5 and one with 4

That reminds me we still have a lot of cards. Are we keeping these rings? giving one to whom? are we using cards in them?

We should use an Incubus/Succubus pair on each ring, maybe with Kobolds to boost power. Give them to Mom, Elli, Lyann.

Did we get any more Kobold, Incubus, or Succubus cards?
>>
>>35266643
We should probably keep at least one for ourselves. Maybe keep the 5 slot, give Lyann the 4 slot and give the 0 slot as a gift to someone, maybe Mom, Eli or Grummir. Alternatively for ultimate paranoid big brother route give it to Athena... once she's old enough not to try swallowing it.

These are all our cards

>11x [Kobold Card] 1g each

x1 [Kavach Icarus] +10% chance to escape from any combat. If this is the first card on any gear, it adds +10 PDV and MDV, as well as +10% chance to escape from any combat. 20g

I think Incubus and Succubus had specific item types they could be put on and they need to be worn together for max value otherwise you'll take a big hit to a stat.

>>35266752

x1 [Kavach Icarus] +10% chance to escape from any combat. If this is the first card on any gear, it adds +10 PDV and MDV, as well as +10% chance to escape from any combat.
this one has to go on the one we give to our lilsis
>>
>>35266802
They didn't before but I see they do now. So long as the Armor has a Succubus card, the Incubus on the Ring would be fine. But then we need to keep track and make sure that any upgrade we make has the right card later.
>>
>>35266752
Kavach Icarus with Koblod buff seems like a good one to put on one of Lyann's items. Going full ham with 3 Succubus 3 Incubus and 6 Koblod Cards sounds very damn tempting I have to admit. I just want to see what it will do.

I suggest saving Vanberk and Man Eating Plant for a front line fighter weapon. Those two buffed with Koblod cards should be damn nasty. Ghost card would be good to use on a support caster that can attack reliably.

>>35266827
Should we combine with Kobold to make it better?

Absolutely.

Well, the little princess is quite cute. You really have no complains about her coming home to play with you and Lyann.

At first, the shadows were distantly polite, but as time passes you eventually learn that they are Ami and Mai.

They are fully aware that they were set up to fail, and sent as the princess scort with that prupose in mind.

They are also fully determined to frustrate whoever it was that decided on it.

Their job, Avenger, looks really interesting, but you can't find anything about it on the library.

You are quite sure you didin't had any flowers on the garden before Mako started showing up, but now beautiful wild flowers grow everywhere.

She seems quite happy to play with both Lyann and Athena, albeit she mostly clings to you in a rather obvious manner.

Oh, how sinful it is to be so handsome!

Well, it probably is just a childhood friend / first love situiation. She is likely to grow out of it eventually, right?

Right?

I mean, she's cute, really cute, and you can easily tell she will be a beauty, but... well, right now, she's definitively a child. YOu can't even think of her in those terms.

After she and Lyann have been playing together for a couple of months, you notice something while checking on Lyann's stat growth.

[Job Singer has been unlocked]

Uh... that's a Noble-exclusive job, right?

Well, you do have Ranger and that's a nomad-only job.

At the time, you assumed it was related to your [Scion] class, but it may have been simply because Elli spent so much time with you.

Well, Singer, Dancer, and Ranger... they're all starting jobs.

Does that means you can take jobs from other classes as long as you have someone to teach you about it?

>>35266953

We should experiment by asking Ami and Mai to teach us how to hide as well as they can. We can prompt this if needed by doing some games of hide and seek before hand, which they will undoubtedly excel at so long as they don't purposely let themselves get caught. If they agree to teach us and we practice diligently we should discover if we can unlock a class. (I also hope we end up punching a monster in the throat to unlock monk one day but alas.)

Get Craftsman and an enchanting class, STAT. It's a lot more low profile work with high profit margins, and well away from danger. Also might be a good way to get contacts in craftsman guilds.
>>
>>35267136
I wonder if we're strong enough to 1 shot Zenites bare handed yet.
>>
>>35266752
alot of those are weapon only.

The only one good for a ring would be 'kavach icarus' + 'kobold'

But with lyann having a range of 100 ft of eldric, would escape drag her along or make it impossible to run?

No good combinations for rings. we already have a very well enchanted artifact weapon. The best we can do right now is (succubus+kobold) + (incubus +kobold) x3

and give the extra armor/head combo to lyann and mom while keeping one for ourself.

For the rings, we should go eldric/lyann/elli/mom.

lilsis isn't going to be stupidly throwing herself in danger like we are.

>>
>>35266997
If that's so maybe Lyann could end up going Singer AND Dancer, and you could switch her between the two when you need buffs or debuffs...

Well, that sounds good in theory but just how much experience would she need to seriously raise two different job trees?

Anyway, Grummir mage three [Angel Ring] for you out of the princess' gift. They have 0, 4 and 5 slots.

It is sort of tempting to bully the princess a little to get more materials but... no. You are a gentleman. Let's not go there

And... the prince... well... let's call it a success...

The black coach now has 20 centipede legs per side, and a large red/black eye on its front... it's pretty fast, and it seems to have no problems going up and down cliffs or over any sort of roads...

...but it's so-fucking-creepy....

It makes people's skin itch when looking at it move

Still, as Okaba says, it is "Progress".

So yes let's call it a success.

There's a strange rumour going around town that a giant centipede has been seen around, carrying a coach... well, it's not your problem. Yup

Thus the legend of the [Black Monster Coach] was born.

Well, since it looks like it could work, we tried asking Mai for training as an [Avenger] and... she gave us a really odd look.

A couple of weeks later, she told us that she discussed it with Ami, and they think it is just showing you proper gratitude for your help.

They did their best, probably.

Yes. I very much prefer this. 6 more levels of wizard stat bonus and only 4 away from arcanist.

Also the way we spread out our experience over several classes means our stats are really good but our class abilities are behind compared to npcs of equivalent level. having 6 levels of wizard, will help us get access to stronger magic(from the extra level bonuses) than 2 of thaumaturg.

Baking Soda, Mercury Fulminate, Thermite, hypoalergenic cosmetics, TNT, fungicides, herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers (all as safe for humans as we can make them), antacid pills, batteries, the list goes on.

Once we have a lab and start cranking out this shit we are going to be *filthy* rich. We'll fucking buy this city before we're thirty.
>>

If that's the case, getting connections with a craftsman guild should help with getting a private workshop. From there, we just have to secure it from information and pollution leaks.
>>

Still, it took almost the whole three months before you saw [Avenger] in the job menu

Looks like it has really good stat growth and a pretty nasty "I always go first" ability. It runs on Wisdom, tho.

Well, Noble gives us some wisdom every level, as does Paladin, so it will probably trigger a lot of the time.

Yup. Will at least turn it on for important fights. No reason not to

We have been having so much fun, that when bad news arrive, it feels like a bucket of cold water.

The elven nation in Yellowleaves forest attacked The Coalition's army. The elves said something like "get off my lawn" and rejected our forces violently, so grandpa had no choice but to retreat towards the shore to place some room between our forces and the forest.

The funny bit tho, is that apparently dad has been so succesful at disrupting the enemy's supply lines, that they NEED to plunder the forest, so the entire Alquian army is now attacking Yellowleaves forest.

Coalition citizens are pretty much universally angry with the elves. The elves of Yellowleaves are blaming us because "all humans are the same" to them.

Its hard to decide if it is bad news (the elves won't join the Coalition), good news (the Alquian army is fighting in two fronts), or if you should laugh a little bit (the elves really brought it on themselves, didint they?)

You are a bit worried about how Elli will take it, but as it turns out, she couldn't care less.

She was from a nomad tribe, and they didin't particularly like the elves of Yellowleaves

You are more worried about someone being mean to her. You can see it at school.

Elf students are being ostracized, and some are being bullied

>>35267432
>hmm? Where's Thaumaturge? Extra spell trick at level 1 is already pretty useful.
king was laying out how we'd level with our current experience depending on whether we were going for archmage or not.

staying with wizard gives us 6 extra levels(2 from noble 4 from wizard). Since wizard is a base class it gives more bonuses. Since we have lots of classes we don't level up easily.

Those extra level up stat bonuses(and bonus points) help us level up our magic skill level faster, allowing us access to better spells. our class abilities aren't as good as an npc with equivalent levels because of how we spread out our experience.

So I prefer to stick with wizard on the way to archmage. extra spell trick isn't worth the cost in advancing magic skill and stat bonus.

Indeed, brand loyalty is more important than any patent or copyright. Look at cigs. Nobody really "owns" tobacco like you own a patent or copyright, so you compete instead on the brand.

Marketing, any smart modern man knows more about that than anybody. We know about things like commercials, catalogs, and billboards. That's one hell of a start up advantage.

The biggest thing thaumaturge lets us do is cast both elemental and divine magic.

To the outside observer, we're already following in our mother's footsteps.

If your talking about special abilities, I prefer the archmages 'shoot everyone with one spell' to the thaumaturges' cast two spells for the price of one'.

But not this.

Mom is a lot closer to alchemist than we are, golems take lots of mana to create a strong one(so we can't make them easily), and sentient golems aren't standard so we'd have to spend time researching a variant.

I'd rather go for archmage first.

It's not like we aren't drowning in girls, that we need to go out of our way to build something that we won't have time for without taking it from another girl.

There's 4 elen nations and 16+ nomad elven tribes. The problem is with the specific elves from specifically Yellowleaves Forest

The problem is that all vanilla elves sort of look alike. Obviously different elves like caramel, chocolate and winged elves are fine.

***

During lunch, we are playing chess with Lyann when we notice one of the elven members being talked down to by the door.

Approaching him, it turns out that he IS from Yellowleaves forest, but his family is completely unrelated to making such a decision.

They're just citizens of the country. It's not as if they have a vote in the decisions of their rulers.

He introduces himself as Lazard.

With you hanging out with him, he's not bullied anymore.

"Ah, would it be alright if I joined the chess club?" -Lazard is a bit tall (for an elf), giving him a human-average height. He looks like he is about the same age as Elli (so in the later half of his second century, probably?), and seems like a fairly well mannered fella.

"Sure" -we have no reason to reject him, after all
"Is it alright if I bring some more friends?" -he asks
"I don't see why not."

The next day, we have three more elf girls in the chess club. They're all from Yellowleaves forest.

Aritsy & Sinoe are twins. They look about the same age as Lazard. If they were human, you would say they are on their late teens. They're fairly "standard" vanilla elves. Blonde, green eyes, fair skin, cute, nice curves

Siona on the other side, it's a Caramel elf. She would have been fine if she hadn't admitted to being from Yellowleaves as well. In human terms, she looks like she's in her early twenties. Her figure is quite nice, with a generous bossom and nice dark eyes. Her hair is a very clear blonde, almost silver-like

We really need to start developing new spells in our downtime. Grinding for levels is fine and all but we haven't really been putting in much work to put our mana to better use. If we put enough effort in we could probably fire out a metal shell with molten copper in its core or any other number of innovations using modern day knowledge to enhance our magic. We've gotten kind of complacent with what we use.

We should also practice making spiked walls and such so if we need them in the future we don't have to spend double the cost. Sandtraps, bogs and other means of battlefield control should also be practiced in case Lyann can't use slow on the enemy.

By the rule of my blood, I summon a weapon to my aid
Metal Spear"

A thin, long metal javelin floats over her hand for a few moments before she throws it at the dummy target.

It's not fading.

That's quite interesting. Really, it seems the wizards in the sorcerer's continent really use metal and wood like you use water, fire and earth, uh?

What's more fun, tho, is actually listening to Mako cast.

She is terribly timid, but she actually chants her spells properly, uh?

She has a very pretty voice, but you get the feeling she will melt from embarrasment if you mention it.

She is very interested in your summons
Apparently, there's no summoning tradition in the west.
Instead, divine casters are almost all also warriors, and defend themselves with sword and shield, or hire a bodyguard for the task.

"Well, first, you need to think of something which can protect you, something you trust, like an animal, or a warrior, a guardian of some kind"
"..." -the little princess nods softly

You show her your dad in a silver armor. He looks pretty strong and confident.

The princess claps a little bit

"That's my dad. He's fighting the bad people from the south"

She nods again

"Now, you remember my summons, right? like this" -you dismiss the previous summon and call forth a older Lyann

The princess nods serious

"Now, this is my favorite, because she's pretty like the prettiest girl I know"
"Uhmm... Eldric..." -Lyann starts saying something from the spot on the grass where she is playing chess with Mai
"Isin't she pretty?"
"..." -you get the feeling she agrees
"Now, if we just give her some heels... and, you know, summons don't really need any armor. It's just for aesthetics. I mean, any armor would really just be a part of their body to begin with"
"..." -she nods
"So let's take it off."

The valkyrie loses her plate armor, and stands in a very short and soft looking dress, or a moderately long T shirt. However you prefer to look at it

"E-eldric..." -you can ~hear~ Lyann blushing up behind you

"And their body shape is also not that relevant. I mean, she could fight standing on her hands and she would be just as effective..."

You give the valkyrie slightly larger breasts, and high heels, and longer hair, and shrink her skirt a little bit.

"Uwawawawa! E-eldric! w-what are you...!?"

Newfag here, just finished reading your rules pdf.

Let me get this straight - Jobs have listed stats, and upon level up those stats are added to your scores, correct?

So a level 1 versus a level 5 alchemist would have stats like

3->15 dex
3->15 int
4->20 wis
3->15 hp
6->30 mp
1->5 elemental
1->5 divine

And these stats are permanent, you can swap out a class, but your stats don't change?

If so, you people absolutely fail at powerleveling. You should be going serially until you hit diminishing returns for a single class, then swap out to a new one. The stat bonuses will come faster and make subsequent leveling even easier. Also, learn *every class possible* and level them up, since there is no penalty for having deactivated classes.
>>
>>35269025
Yeah, she still sorta thinks of herself as our slave.
>>
>>35269047

you should probably wait until you get an answer before starting your monologue about how other people are "doing it wrong"

"Now... I know, let's make her more similar to the original..."

You change the valkyria's clothes for the tribal paint and silk scarf that Lyann uses as a dancer.

*Poof*

Looking back, Lyann just fainted

"Eh~he... I guess that's too much?"
"...?"
"But isin't she a dancer?" -asks Mai, translating Mako's question

The common sense of this world... so as long as she's a dancer, it's not embarrasing at all? then WHY does Lyann gets so embarrased to begin with?

Well, she doesnt gets embarrased when she's actually wearing it.

Is it because of all the compliments?

"Well, you can also change their weapons to any melee weapon you want. It doesn't really affect much"
"..." -the little princess nods nods
"Ah, let's try something else"

You dismiss the valkyrie, and summon a copy of the little princess. she's glowing and half transparent, made of mana and little else, after all.

"...!" -she covers her mouth with both hands
"Oh, I would like to see what the princess would look like when she's older"

At this, Ami drops down from the tree with your cat in her arms.

Was she playing up in the apple tree branches? you didin't even notice her

"O-oh! we really really..."
"...want to see that!"
"...!" -shakes her head a little bit, her smooth black hair swaying softly
"Pretty please...."
"...lord eldric!"

"Alright, let's see... something like this...?"

You give her very feminine curves and a sligthly seductive face.

"Oh, that's pretty, but, you know...."
"...the women in the princess' bloodline are all beauties!"
"She needs a greater bossom..."
"...and wider hips"
"Like this?"

*poof*

Mako is lying down on the grass next to Lyann, as both girls look apple red, with smoke coming out from their ears

"..oh well"
"That seems quite likely..."
"...actually, you know?"
"Really?"
"Yup!"
"Yes"

>>
>>35269066
Nothing wrong with that. I want to train her to be our Aura.
>>
>>35269047
We're more concerned with survival odds over true powerleveling. Multiple jobs active means multiple abilities. You can't cast without a class like Wizard active, can't swing a sword for shit without a martial class active, can't heal or summon without a divine caster class active, you see reason why we kept multiple jobs active yes?
>>
>>35269089
>How scary, the future
Words to live by.
>>
>>35269148
Not in a full party, no. Take wizard to 20, swap out to ranger, take it to 20, swap out to arcanist, take it to 20, etc.

Trying to be a jack of all trades is pointless when you have specialists around you.
>>
>>35269108
Yeah grinding each class one at a time until it starts taking too long to level them up is probably a good strategy. We also have the luxury of having a pretty dependable party to adventure with so as we focus on one area they can pick up the slack. If we start grinding a class that can't cast spells we can also switch Lyann to wizard and have her improve her casting ability in that role.

>>35269148
This is probably the best time for us to focus on power leveling actually. If we get into a pinch we can switch on our other classes. We're in a good spot to focus on development. We don't have many responsibilities, we've got reliable income and dependable back up.
>>
>>35269047
>Let me get this straight - Jobs have listed stats, and upon level up those stats are added to your scores, correct?
right

>And these stats are permanent, you can swap out a class, but your stats don't change?
Right. Originally I was thinking in letting them change but then I realized that would be a HUGE book keeping problem, and many quests die because of that

Your levels stack to determine your overall level and exp, tho.
I do give "base" jobs a little more exp, but I honestly dont think its enough to stay with asic classes forever

Also, I think the MC is too young to truly be his own boss. Once we move out of the house and start living alone (with Lyann? Mako? Elli? who knows!?) we can say we do this or that and just timeskip, but right now our world is not peaceful enough to do that even if we wanted. Lots of stuff is going on

>Your levels stack to determine your overall level and exp, tho.

As in, exp rate is determined entirely by your total level?

That flips it to the other extreme - each level is precious, and should only be taken if it furthers your end goal.

Well, after that, the next 2 months were pretty quiet.

As it turns out, Aritsu is a genius at coordinating, so we got the dwarves to help with the stone for the tables and benches, as well as providing mana for the project. The elves did the fine magic-circuit engraving in multiple layers of the board, and of course, Okaba and ourselves did the research on the actual codes for the pieces and their movement.

Aritsu found something irregular about the books, tho.

It looks like Obaka has been stealing, or rather, overcharging.

The materials listed in the books are a bit more expensive than what the merchants have in their own books.

Should we face Okaba about this?

Cards ARE Enchanting. It's a difference between which style and what powers the enchantment, whether it's modular and portable or can only be changed by re-application.
Okaba is providing information on the style he's specialized in, in exchange for learning about the Card style.
As they're both Enchanting, the possibility exists to fuse the two together, such as the Incubus/Succubus Cards (which on their own are akin to a curse), allowing for modular Curse Cards that when put together in a set provide bonuses not possible before, while still being non-Cursed items.

jesus guys, I didint say anything because I was busy typing, but relax, ok?

One of you wants to keep it a secret because of reasons, and the other wants to say it because reasons, and you are both supporting your ideas with good reasons, but honestly I dont see either of those reasons being good enough to convince the other. And thats fine. What does bother me is the namecalling.

Cmon guys, is that really neccesary? firthermore you are sending us to page 10 faster than the speed of light

Anyway***

After school, you go with Okaba to his orphanage. There you find Aura in the garden outside

She's wearing a soft, fluffy looking summer dress. You had no idea she could look so... not-naugthy

I mean, she's a succubi. She basically oozes sexyness, you know?

But here's she is, glowing with "older sister glow 100000000%" right now.

"Prince, prince!" -the children, most of them half your age, swarm Okaba
"I've told you not to come out into the street, haven't I?"
"Yeeeees~"

Okaba plucks one of his feathers and picks one up, then starts tickling the child with it until it apologizes.

"Master?" -Aura blinks when she sees you with the prince
"I am afraid I have been caught"
"Ah, I did it!" ~says Aura right away
"No, erh... Okaba already explained everything to me"
"Oh"

Yup, there's over 5-6 dozen children here. Some of them are older than you, but, of course, you know that isin't entirely true, is it?

Some of the older kids are still wearing the school uniform. You even remember seeing them around in campus.

The prince eventually gets swarmed by children, who successfully hug him into the floor, their faces beaming happiness.

A couple of hours later, you are taking tea with the prince while the smallest children take their nap with Aura.

The entire conversation we had with Okaba previously about Enchanting, that Southern Style can use curses as power sources for their enchantments, while Northern Style uses Cards and Slots.
And the effects of an Incubus Card are pretty much a curse, same as the Succubus Card's effects. But when feeding off of each other, they're able to cancel out the negative effects and only have the positives.
And, though they act like Curses, equip slotted with them can be worn and taken off without the need for a Temple visit.

So the next logical step is to use Southern Enchanting to make a Curse Card that acts like a power source (much like Cards in Sets and the Kobold Card) to make sets more powerful, with a limited number of slots, and getting around the problem of Cursed items.

>>35270727
the problem with that is that in Okaba's view, cards are inferior because they are basically not science.

It is cience when doing 2+2=4 every time
But sometimes you bring a card and an item together and you dont get a enchanted item, so in his viewpoints the cards are too unreliable for turning his enchantments into cards being a good idea, yes

****

You explain to Okaba about the baking soda, how it works, what it does, how to make it...

He nods quietly as he listents.

A month and 73g later, a simple but solid-looking building is up in the backyard of the manor. It is this world's first chemical plant.

It is a relatively small one. Most of the money was spent securing stable sources of raw materials with the nearby dwarven communities.

But that's not a bad thing, if you consider that it will keep prices high.

Yeah, low supply and high demand equals $$$$$

Well, other than that, the rest of the money was spent on the children's first month of salary.

Okaba was originally against it, because he felt it wasnt too unlike buying the children as slaves, but when you explained that they would be paid salaries and they would be able to be self sufficient thanks to it, he ended up agreeing.

Yes, it almost immediately takes off as a highly profitable business.

As for the chess club project, you all get excellent grades for it. Now, vacations are finally about to start.

Or rather, it's the end of the school year.

If this was earth, it would be December.

Well, there's no such thing as christmas in this world, but when you realize its the last month of the year, and, of course, it will have a 25th, you decide to have a small celebration with family and friends.

>>35271147
>Except for you know how he isn't a real world knight.
what are you saying...My point is saying a level 10 knight is being that a level 10 knight is likely not at the top ranks. And is on the field fighting.
>>
>>35271192
My whole point is that adding modern technology to a medieval stasis world with literal levels and no concept of the conservation of energy will not go over nearly as effectively as you think it will.
>>
>>35271010
>Celebrate at home
>>
>>35271218
Not to mention mustard gas war crimes
>>
I don't think guns would be all that effective against leveled up targets. They're great on earth because everyone is level 1, but in a place where training hard gives you literally superhuman powers, they'd likely be considered a nuisance rather than a threat.

You'd need something that could scale with magic and levels. Materials science for making better swords/armor might work. Introducing the wheelbow, or various upgrades to crossbows and systematizing their production would likely have a large effect.

So instead of chemical weapons, we should start with blast forges, basically.
>>
>>35271260
Don't forget waterfall-powered waterwheels powering smithies.

Arm strength just can't compete.
>>
>>35271306
>Arm strength just can't compete.
But what about when the STR gets above 150?
We ARE talking superhuman strength levels here.
>>
>>35271218
how would creating mustard gas not be very effective to all targets?

And remember war is about reducing the enemy and a new weapon that melts peoples face off would be a huge blow to enemy morale. Not saying it would win the war out right. But it could very likely have a major effect on the war.
>>
It had been mentioned that we had decided in prior threads to keep a low profile with inventions, low impact large cash flow.

Cosmetic's, perfumes and cleaning products.

We were also advised that things that go boom may not perform as expected.

Of course introducing a blast forge and a working formula for high grade steel, and how to test and get it reliably would be worth major gold, if there was a way to transport goods outside of water.
>>
>>35271242
Well that, and the fact that every single chemical equation Eldric knows is based on the fact that inputs must equal outputs. Which is clearly not the case for even mundane endeavors on this world. Messing around with chemical weapons under such conditions is really, really dumb.
>>35271368
because a generic cure status condition would fix it, or a wind control spell to send it back at enemy lines.
>>
>>35271368
Jesus bright! Someone give him a bright slap. We are not here to win the war. And most Definetly not to end up as the inventor of mustard gas
>>
>>35271368
We're not sure how the chemistry we know would interact with this world's combat physics. Our dwarf tank was basically hit with flamethrowers on one floor and aside from being salty about it, survived just fine.

Making a bow that has a thousand pound draw weight would definitely cause significant damage, on the other hand.
>>
>>35271218
Depends. Technically, the world allows modern tech, but nobody really bothered to develop it. This is because of the presence of magic. Why build a thing to do X when you can just have the wizard do it?

Magic retards technological development when it is commonplace. If only 1 in 10 or 1 in a 100 people were wizards the mundanes would invest in tech anyway just to not overly rely on that scarce resource. Unless things like ritualism or runes were also in play and could be used by anyone. Then energies that would have went into tech would flow into those instead.

Point is, if a given magical system is universal or at least quite common then there is next to no motivation to develop technology or even science as we know it. The economic payoff just isn't there to draw in the time and talent. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for everyone in this setting, we are a repository of many of the wonders that could or would have been if they didn't have magic. And we will introduce many of them, for a hefty profit of course.

***

We get a few extra tables for the garden, and organize a quiet party for family and friends.

This year we had
1 Prince
1 Princess
4 slavegirls (Aura, Lyann, Mai, Ami)
1 elf maid
1 parent

We celebrated with 2 large turkeys and introduced mashed potatoes into the world.

Elli was very surprised. They are usually just roasted or fried.

You are sure that somewhere in the world someone must have at some time mashed them, but none of your friends seem to have tried it before.

Ami (the more playful of Mako's shadows) sculpts a mashed potatoe kitten for the pricness, and the little princess just stares at it with big shiny eyes, not wanting to "kill it" with her spoon.

But other than the killing of the potato kitten, the party is a great success.

Next year, you are planning on having caramelized ham, somehow. Definitively

Your mom, Elli and Lyann are very proud of you
Okaba, Mako, Aura, Ami and Mai are proud to be your friends.
It was a great year.
Hopefully dad will come back soon.

Next year, you can choose between enchanting and divinations as alternative classes.
>>
>>35271460

But perhaps that is better left for tomorrow.
Tonight, you feel a daring deficit on potatoes in your plate.

A bit later, you see your uncle flirting with Aura as he passes by.

You want to sigh, but by now know better.

Aura: "Eldric? that nice man asked me to give you this." -she hands you a letter from your dad.

Your dad is alright. He apologizes for being unable to go to your mother and sister(s?).

He says that now that the fighting is in the open plains instead of the desert, he is much more used to the terrain, and his saboteur crops are doing a great job.

Apparently, the Alquian army has secured some sort of relic, however. A [Cauldron of Abundance] which is supplying the troops with endless food.

However, he's successfully disrupting their supplies, regardless. They don't have a way to replenish weapons or armor, and their reinforcements never arrive, or arrive already injured from the trip.

If it wasnt for the materials they pillage from the nearby wood, they would have to turn around and leave.

Your dad thinks he will probably be home by this time next year if thing keep going as they are going right now.

Oh, yeah, he also mentions that he's heard the Alquian Vizir is somehow involved in the disappearance of the last true Alquian princess.

He's looking into it

Actually, if we really want to kickstart this society we should probably go with farming improvements first. The easier it is to get food, the more prosperous a place is, basically.
>>
>>35271622
you sir know how civilizations work
>>
>>35271540
Think about it, if magic is around and you want a gun. You'll keep trying to find some enchantment or spell that flings the crossbow bolt or whatever hard and fast. It probably wouldn't occur to you that there may be a mixture of charcoal, sulfur, and saltpeter that likes to go boom and, when put in a metal tube behind a mass of metal, makes the metal fly out faster than an arrow from a bow.

Magic affects perception of the problems you face. And don't forget the old adage, when all you have is a hammer every problem looks like a nail. Only magic isn't a hammer, it's like a godly multi-tool that has damn near every tool imaginable on it. So people will always be thinking with magic instead of with something else on average.
>>
>>35271580

we've seen examples of how useful enchantment is. Just about every adventurer will use an enchanted item.

Most farming improvements are either process, 4 crop rotation, fertilizer(hard to do without a source of nitrates) or tools. The better tools will be mechanical also, out of our perview.
