You're free at last. Done with college, done with your internship, moved out of state and broke up with your bitch of a girlfriend; you've finally gotten your life sorted out, more or less. You can just live the life of a young bachelor, free to cut loose (when not at work, of course). Your apartment is small - one room with bath - but hell, you don't care. It's cheap as it gets, and it's not like you're living with anybody.

The sweet sensation of your whole life ahead of you, now that you're gainfully employed by London Reinsurance, coddles you like a mother. You've been riding high on life for the past few weeks just from that alone.

So when a knock comes on your door, you're confused, and a bit worried. You sidle up to the door, pressing your weight against it before looking into the peephole. The young woman on the other end... she seems very familiar. The cheeks, the eyes, the hair... after a few seconds of staring, it clicks. Your sister.

Christ, you haven't seen your sister in... nine years, you think. She ran away from home when you were twelve, and your family never found her. You had... kind of started to think she was dead, or worse. Apparently not, though. She looks fine. Time's aged her up, filled her out, but... yeah, she's your sister. She raps on the door again, impatient, fidgeting.

>Open the door, welcome her in. Catch up.
>She ran away from home, she can explain herself before coming in.

You unlock the door, the noise making her perk up in attention, her back straightening. "Jessica?"

"Robby!" She cries, practically leaping at you, wrapping you up in a big bear hug, her arms squeezing tightly at your chest. You awkwardly reciprocate her show of affection with a back pat or two before she finally pulls away. "God, it's been so long!"

"Uh, yeah," you say, feeling a little awkward about it. She steps back for a moment to pick up a duffel bag, before stepping into your apartment. You weren't expecting any female guests, so it's not in the most pristine position, with fast food wrappers piling around the trash bins, the blanket on your bed in a sort of awkward pile. Jessica just walks over to your bed, sitting down and kicking her legs. "Um..." you pause, awkward. She looks at you, patient. "So, how's life been, since..."

She rolls her eyes up, thinking. "Lots of stuff happened. I spent a while homeless... then I joined a, well, I guess you'd call it a cult - stayed in it for a long time - then wound up getting kicked out and homeless again. That's actually pretty much my current sitch, though luckily I had a little bit of cash so I've managed to avoid the shelters so far."

>Ask her why she ran away.

"A cult? Really?" You move over to the trash bins and start stuffing the food rappers away. "Why?"

She shrugs, then starts counting off on her fingers. "Food, board, decent work, community... plenty of sex and drugs, if you get in the right one... hell, I'm surprised more people don't join cults."

"What was it like, then? The cult, I mean."

"Oh, this weird Christian off-shoot. The prophet goes by Kushiel, I dunno what name he was born with. A mixture of apocalyptism... is that the word? Whatever. The quick summary of their doctrine would be sex, drugs, and Armageddon."

"And they kicked you out? Why?"

"Just politics. One of the other girls, Maria, who was closer to Kushiel than I was, she decided that I was a threat, got me labeled an apostate, and soon enough I'm out on my ass. I'd done some work as a waitress back when, and I - luckily - had the foresight to squirrel some of the tips away rather than hand all of them over like the rules said." You move over to the edge of your bed and desk, where piles of dirty socks have started to accrue, and pick them up before throwing them in the laundry bin.

"They aren't... after you, or anything, are they? Like, I don't know, the Scientologists."

"God, I hope not!" She says with a laugh. "Nah, I don't think so. Kushy's gonna be too busy fucking and getting high on E to do anything to me. I'm good as dead to all my friends there, now, though. Shunning, or whatever."

"What's with the duffel bag?" You ask, jerking your head towards it. She blushes in embarrassment at that.

"Oh, uh," she says, awkwardly. "Sort of... my stuff."

"Your... stuff." You're not quite clear on what she means.

"Clothes, um, toothpaste, toothbrush, a water bottle I fill at fountains and sinks. That kind of stuff."

You take a quick glance over your room, looking for anything else particularly messy. You pick up a few soda cups and empty them into the sink in your bathroom before putting them inside each other and stuffing them in the trash. You need to take that out. Later.

"So, what's your plan?" You ask, turning back to Jessica.

Jessica smiles at that, her eyes growing to puppy dog proportions. "Well, oh little brother who I love dearly... I'm kind of... not in the best place, financially, and you're, you know, you're much better off than me right now... you know I'd help you out if our positions were reversed... so I was wondering if you'd let me stay here?"

You sigh, a long exhalation. Jessica bites her lip nervously. "If you're staying here-" the tension rolls out of her "-you'll have to live by some rules. No drugs, no sex in my apartment, living properly - for starters."

"Oh, no problem, Robby," she says, bringing up her hands defensively. "Only did that on account of, you know... it was part of the scene? Almost felt genuinely religious at times, even. Definitely won't bother you with any of that stuff, now that I'm out."

"Good. But if you run away again, I won't be sitting around here waiting for you to show up again, Jessica. You understand?"

Jessica pauses, confusion on her face. "...run away again? I- I never..." she trails off, then realization flashes across her face. She snorts and rolls her eyes. Then she starts to really laugh, giggling, bringing her hand up to cover her mouth when she notices your glare.

When she starts to finally suppress her laughter, you ask the question on your mind. "What's so funny?"

She takes a moment to calm down, mouth covered by her hand, eyes closed. "Fucking - I didn't run away," she says, pointing her finger at you, expression suddenly sober. "Mom and Dad kicked me out. If you heard otherwise, it was a lie."

She looks a little ashamed at that, her gaze breaking from yours, and nods. "Okay. Not like I have any friends to hang out with anymore."

An uncomfortable silence fills the air. "Why did Mom and Dad kick you out, then?"

She snorts. "It's pretty stupid. Um... I was..." she bites her tongue, considering. "You remember Lisa? My best friend, way back when?"

"Yes..." you say, suggesting she continue on.

"Well, um... we kind of... got a little... intimate. I mean, I was- it wasn't- well, it doesn't matter why I did it. When Mom and Dad found out... they completely freaked out. You'd think I'd raped a baby, the way they reacted. Didn't even let me go back to get my things. Dad said he'd shoot me if he saw me again. What she said about your parents... it's surprising, but not impossible. They're a bit prickly about that kind of thing. You wouldn't have thought them the kind of people to do what she says... but maybe. You never know. "So... what's next? What's your plan?"

She bites her lip. "I'm running out of money. I had more, to start with, but I don't have a job, or references, or anything... I happened to look for you online, when I was job searching at the library, and I saw you were in the same city..." she starts to tear up. "Fuck. Fuck. I've been trying to get a job, staying at cheap motels while I do, but all it's done is burn money. I keep putting out my resume, but there's this big six year hole where basically my only reference is a cult leader who goes by the name of Kushiel - which is funny because he wouldn't vouch for me anyway because I'm an apostate - and nobody will hire me."

"Do you have a phone?"

"I have a shitty little prepaid," she says, going through the bag quickly, wiping away at her face as she does. "Sorry. Um, here it is," she says, pulling it out and flipping it open. Her lips purse. "It's off. Right. Right. Battery's low. Can I...?" She gestures to a wall socket, and you nod. After a couple seconds, she's got her phone open and waiting.

You give her your number, and she gives you hers.

"So... just to confirm," she says, drawing it out. "It's okay for me to stay the night, right?"

"Yes, Jessica," you say, sitting down next to her. "You can stay."

"Thank you, thank you," she says, wrapping her arms around you. You feel a light moisture leak through your shirt. You pat her on the back, lightly, reassuringly. "Thank God, Robby," she says from her position, her face pressed into your shirt, tears audible in her voice. "You're all I've got left. I was a few days from being on the streets again. Thank you so much."

"Hey, hey," you say, feeling a bit awkward. "I'm your brother, alright? I love you."

"Love you too," she says.

"I'm expecting you to try to fix your own life, too. We'll find you work, okay? It'll probably be something shit - fast food or a gas station, maybe - but it'll be something."

She just nods, mute, from her position clinging to you. When she finally composes herself enough to pull away, she wipes at her eyes with her shirt sleeves before smiling again. It's uncomfortably intimate, her face just inches from yours, her expression full of relief and trust; you haven't seen her in almost a decade, so it feels weird to be so... close to her, both physically and emotionally.

The two of you share some of your food - crackers and soda, honestly - as a late dinner, and you tell her about what's been going on in your life since she left. She listens in rapt attention to every detail, every childish mistake in high school, every goofy teenage prank in college, all your hard work studying and getting employed by London Re. Making up for nine years, you guess.

Eventually, the two of you start to yawn, and you suggest sharing the bed; you are brother and sister, after all. She blushes at that, makes a joke about how that statement reminded her of the cult, and lies down next to you in the bed.

When you wake up the next morning, her head is resting on your chest, a small puddle of drool collecting next to her open mouth and starting to stain your shirt, one hand on your belly.

You slowly lift her off of you, pushing her onto her back, where she starts to snore. You get up and out of bed, heading to your food stash and pulling out something for her, making a nice peanut butter sandwich and some... water with flavoring, would be the most accurate term. You think it tastes nice, though.

When it's done, you rustle her awake, making her groggily open her eyes to look up at you. "Hey, Jessica," you say. "Breakfast is ready."

"Oh," she says, blinking herself awake. "Th-thanks, Robby." She gets out of bed, yawning loudly, stretching in a way that temporarily exaggerates her bust. She sits down to eat, and the two of you have some very light conversation, not touching on anything of any real importance.

When you finish up, she hesitates a moment before gathering up the dishes and heading over to the sink, washing them off. She glances over her should at you, giving a weak smile.

The two of you spend much of the rest of the day looking for work, with her applying to several dozen different jobs. None of them good, but all of them paying, which is what she needs right now. Her only real expense at the moment is groceries, and finding something to offset that isn't so tough. When you feel satisfied that there's basically no chance she won't get a callback for at least one of the jobs, you switch subjects, discussing what skills and education she has.

"Um, well, ninth or tenth grade education," she says, awkwardly. "Since... you know. And I know how to make MDMA. Some construction experience, a little farming. That's about it for skills. Back in the cult, we mostly did menial labor to keep things going."

You sit down at the computer again, looking for a decent (preferably cheap; you're not a spendthrift) night school, something to help Jessica catch up on the years of education she was unfairly denied. Eventually, you find a couple that are close enough, and fire off applications to them, hoping for the best.

That done, you head out with Jessica for dinner - filling out all those applications took all day - at a fairly nice, though by no means fancy, restaurant, as a sort of reward and celebration. The meal's about $20 for the two of you, but it's nice to be able to hang out with your sister again. During the meal, you bring up where she'd like to be; a trade, or the like.

She hesitates at that question, getting lost in thought. "It's been a long time since I thought about that kind of thing," she says, at last. "I don't know. A nurse, maybe. I'd really-" she shakes her head and sighs. "Never mind."

"What?"

"No, it's stupid."

"No, come on, tell me."

When the world's ending, there's no point settling down and having kids, you know?" She sighs. "Now? Now, I'm some hoary old slut who's been on a half-dozen different drugs."

You snort.

"What's so funny?"

"'Hoary' old slut," you say, giggling, and after a moment or two, Jessica joins you, laughing as well.

"You're such an idiot," she says, when the two of you calm down. "That's such a stupid thing to laugh at."

"You laughed too," you say.

"Only 'cause you laughed first."

"Mmmhmm," you nod, letting the argument finish. "If you could be a housewife, who would you want to marry?"

"I don't know," she says, sighing. "Somebody's who's cute, funny, who makes me feel safe, somebody I can count on to protect me if I need it. I guess..." she pauses, suddenly hesitant, "a guy like you, kinda?"

Once she's out of the house, we see about contacting our parents. In a way she can't trace back to us (yandere alert)

Mostly I'm curious to see if we can wiggle out more about this business from them. Either could be lying to one extent or another. A adult perspective on the line(s) they've fed us before could help piece things together.

Or maybe she was just a bi-curious girl and our parents are sadists. Who knows.

She might appreciate France for its romance. Netherlands isn't bad, but it only has so much going for it.

"I am pretty cool," you say, a smug look on your face as you nod. Jessica just rolls her eyes as you puff up your chest, laughing. "I mean, it's no surprise you'd be looking for a guy like me, really."

"Don't make fun of me, you dork," she says, when she finally calms down.

"You know you like it." Jessica just smiles at you, shaking her head. "Don't sell yourself short, though. Just give yourself some time, put your life back together. Alright?"

"Alright, alright," she says, smiling. The two of you eat your meal in peace.

The next month or so with your older sister go well. She manages to get a job at a nearby gas station as an attendant, pulling home enough money to put her back in the black in terms of food expenses. One of the nearby night schools accepts her application, and she starts to work on the necessary studies to get a GED.

When she's out at work one day and you're at home, you have to check on your slight suspicion, and you call up your mother.

"Hey, Mom," you start.

"Hello, sweetie," your mom says, and you think you hear the faint sound of cooking in the background. "How are you doing?"

"Great, great," you say, feeling a little awkward. "Look, there's something I wanted to ask you. Do you know why Jessica ran off?"

"Hmm? What brings this up, dear?"

"Just... curious." You haven't mentioned that Jessica is living with you to your parents yet, and you're not about to start now.

>(1/2)
>>
>>35270099
"Well, I'd say I honestly don't know, dear."

"No idea? You or Dad couldn't have said anything that maybe... I don't know, made her afraid to come home?"

"Are you accusing your father and I of scaring Jessica out of our home? Now, look here, son, that is just the sort of disrespect I cannot accept."

"It's just," you pause, looking for a suitable excuse, "I was talking to Lisa recently, you know, Jessica's old friend-"

"That girl, is nothing but trouble. I'm sure she's the one who's really responsible for your sister running off and is just trying to shift the blame."

"Yeah. Yeah, okay, Mom. Sorry. Love you."

You say your goodbyes and hang up.

That... wasn't reassuring. None of her responses were direct denials - classic signs of lying. "She'd say" she didn't know. She's angry you made such accusations. She makes counter-accusations. But she never said that she DIDN'T scare Jessica away. The first thing innocent people say, generally, is that they're innocent. But your mother never really said she was innocent at all.

Another call - this one to your father - gets a similar response. No straight denials, just anger and bluster and prevarication and whatnot.

In any case, it's the one-month anniversary of Jessica's new job, and you wanted to do something nice for her today, since she's been doing so well with her studies and work, so you've been preparing...

You bought her a nice - if cheap - laptop, and have configured it so that it can get on your wifi network. Now it's wrapped up and hiding in your closet.

When she gets home from work, she's looking a little haggard, but she obeys as you direct her to sit down and close her eyes. You sneak over to the closet, pulling out the laptop, and sneak back to her, placing it in her lap. "Okay, now you can open them."

She looks down at the box immediately, curiously examining it, offering you the occasional, furtive glance and smile as she starts to unwrap it. When she finishes opening it, she has a really big smile on her face, and pulls you in for a big hug. "Thank you so much, Robby," she says, her chin resting on your shoulder as she tightly grips you in one of those bear hugs you've gotten used to over the past month. "You're the best little brother in the whole world."

"Hey, big sis," you say, when she doesn't let up her grip after a while. "I need to breathe."

"Oh!" She quickly lets you go. "Sorry, sorry. I was just so excited. This is so cool. Thank you, again. I love you, little brother."

"I love you too, big sister."

"How are things at work?"

"You know," she says, with a shrug. "It's a gas station. People buy gas and cigarettes. I get a paycheck. Not much to say."

"And school?"

"I think it's going well," she says, though her brow is furrowed. "It- it'll probably take a while to really know, though. We're doing, uh, linear equations, and such. You know what those are?"

"I know what linear equations are," you say. "I have a Bachelor's in Mathematics."

"Oh, then you can help me out if I have trouble!" She perks up a little, then perks down. "If it's not too much trouble, I mean..."

"It's no trouble," you say, patting her on the head.

She pouts a little, annoyed, but then smiles. "Good. I love spending time with you, Robby."

"Meet anybody at either place? Got any new friends?"

"Jeez, DAD," she says, rolling her eyes, smiling. "I'm twenty-five years old! I can make friends without you hanging over my shoulder!"

"So you have made friends, then?"

She opens her mouth, then closes it. "No... I don't know. I feel weird around everybody but you. It's probably just... adjustment, you know? Spent so long at the Church that I feel weird hanging around new people without, you know, fucking them. Which," she says, bringing up her hands, "I obviously am not going to do! But- it still feels different than it used to, hanging out with people."

"Well, I'll always be here for you," you say, leaning down and surprising her with a hug. She freezes up for a moment before going lax in her arms, her own arms gently wrapping around your back. Come to think of it, this might be the first time you've initiated a hug since the two of you were re-united. She's hugged you more, for sure.

"I love you, Robby," she whispers into your chest as you coddle her in your arms for a while.

"I love you too, Jessica," you reply, smiling. You let her stay there, held in your arms, for a while, and she looks sublimely happy in your embrace.

Eventually, of course, you have to let go, and she's clearly a little unhappy at the prospect, but she allows it without verbal complaint.

You help her set up her laptop - a prospect she seems absolutely delighted at - and give her some quick tips on selecting a good password. Her typing skills are clearly atrocious - she's hunting and pecking - but you can get to that some other time, so you let her carry on in peace, getting her laptop set up.

You move over to your computer, settling down with some unfinished work. Chi-square tests, Anderson-Darling, Kolmogorov-Smirnov... you're mathing the fuck out of this raw data. The occasional glance over at Jessica shows her slowly typing things into a search engine. When she notices you're looking at her, she repositions her computer screen so you can't see it and continues to slowly type and click. You turn your attention back to your work, finishing up with a bunch of different stuff.

"Nee-san," you hear a Japanese boy's voice - obviously aroused - come from Jessica's computer, and her eyes bug out when you look at her, her face flushed red in embarrassment. She frantically taps away at her computer, but the boy's voice keeps talking in Japanese (and is still obviously aroused) despite her best efforts.

"Uh, this, this video started playing," she stumbles, "it's like... I didn't mean for that to happen." You come over and helpfully close that tab.

"This is the mute button," you say, pointing to it on the keyboard. "If you hit that, it won't make noise."

"O-oh. And how did you close it?"

You show her how to close tabs, and also how to restore them ("In case I accidentally close one!").

The rest of the day passes without further incident, though Jessica decides to shower before going to bed. When she flops into bed next to you, she seems oddly serene and calm.

"Nee-san, what were you watching earlier?"

"It's Japanese for big sister. I figured you would have worked one that out."

"You know... I can look at your browser history at any time, and see what websites you went to and what searches you made."

"N-no you can't!" She stammers, her face flushing crimson, her whole body tensing up. She flops over, facing away from you. "You're just making that up to scare me!"

"It's truuuuuue~" you say, your voice spooky.

She huffs, loudly, from her position on the bed next to you.

You get up a little, moving to kiss her on the side of the head, just above her ear. "It's okay," you whisper. "I love you no matter what." She starts to calm down a little, and you pull the blankets over the two of you as you get ready to sleep.

"I- I love you too," she says, though she doesn't turn over to look at you, and goes to sleep on her side.

Over the next few weeks, things continue to improve for Jessica, as she makes good progress in her work and schooling. As far as you can tell, however, her only two friends are you and her laptop, which is a little worrisome, and she doesn't seem to be making any moves to correct it.

We know she used to lez out, so maybe we should introduce her to a gay guy or something, since introducing her to either women or straight men might be setting off her trigger alarms.

She was in a goddamn sex cult, I'm pretty sure she's had some horrible things done to her. Best introduce her to as nonthreatening a friend as we can find.

When Jessica comes home from work, you're sitting there, waiting for her. She looks at you a little oddly, then speaks. "Hell...o?"

"Jessica, we need to talk."

"What are we doing right now?" She asks with a smile.

You give her a look, and she stops smiling, looking like a chastised little girl. "Have you spoken to anyone at work, outside of a purely professional context? At school, outside of asking the teacher questions?"

"M-maybe," she replies, her shoulders rising a little.

You sigh. "I feel like I'm keeping you prisoner, Jessica. Even housewives know other people. Would you like to meet my friends?"

She looks nervous at that, wringing her hands awkwardly, obviously uncertain. "I just-" she sighs. "I don't know. I'm fine with this. Why do I need to meet new people? I-if you make me, then I'll do it, but... all I need is you, Robby."

Goddammit, you guys are fucking idiots trying to force her to socialise.

She obviously has poor self-esteem after fucking up her life so badly. Exposing her to people, even normal and nice people, when she's not right with herself, isn't going to lead her anywhere good.

Let's be supportive with her choices, and encourage her to keep on improving herself. When she feels accomplished and confident, she can go out there and make friends without our help.

Until then, don't judge her and don't force anything on her.

What makes you think that? Not everyone is susceptible to crutch mentalities.

She reached out to us first, and has been extremely involved in her own self-improvement. We didn't force her to get a job or go back to school.

"I'm not going to force you to meet new people," you say with a sigh. "But we can't keep living like this forever, can we? Sharing a bed in an apartment?"

"W-well," she stammers. "I mean, we- you know, we could."

"Could we, Jess? What about when I get a girlfriend? How are you going to get a husband, living like this? You can't marry a guy if you never talk to him, first."

Jessica's shoulders slump, and she looks at her feet. You give her a little bit, and eventually, she turns up her face, her brow knitted, begging with her expression. "I-" she stops, her eyes starting to well up with tears, and she frantically scrapes them away. "I- we could- I-" she can't finish her thought, instead just stammering away.

After a while of watching it, you get up, wrapping your arms around her, softly cooing and reassuring her.

You lean down, kissing her on the forehead. "Come on, Jess. You're my sister. I'll never push you away or chase you off. You'll always have a place in my home and a space in my heart." You pause, thinking over your words carefully. "I know you need time to get yourself together, but promise me you'll at least give some thought to what you want to do after you're through this phase?"

She gives a tiny little nod from her current position, her face pressed against your chest, her body small against yours. "Okay," she says, her voice a little whimper. You know what she wants... but you're not going to give it to her, not now, at least. While she's got her head in a place like it is, you'd feel like you're taking advantage.

"I'll always want you in my life, Jess, but you should want more for yourself than... this."

She nods again, her face rubbing against your chest again.

"When's your next day off?" You keep your arms around Jessica.

"Um, next Thursday."

"Okay. Next Thursday, you, me, and..." you roll up your eyes, mentally scrolling through a list of friends, "Therese, we'll go out to eat together. Okay?"

Jessica nods from her place wrapped around you.

"I love you, Jess."

"I love you, too," she whispers.

The next few days are calm, with things more or less returning to normal. Jessica and you work, talk a little, browse the web separately, and go to sleep together.

"Hey!" Therese yells, waving from one of the tables at you and Jessica. "Over here!"

You gesture to Jessica, and she goes first, with you taking up the rear. The two of you sit down, next to each other and across from Therese.

"Hey, so you must be Jessica, right?" Therese asks, offering her hand. Jessica hesitates a moment before reaching across for it.

"Y-yeah," she says. "A-and you're Therese?"

Therese nods, smiling. "Yep! You know, Robin never told me he had-" you shake your head and Therese catches the motion, trailing off for a moment, "such... a... beautiful sister?" She tries to recover.

Jessica snorts. "I'm not that pretty."

"Oh, sure, right now you look pretty average, but my dad's in photography, models and stuff, and I picked up a few things here and there. You've got a good base to work from, you're just not putting any effort into it. A-and that's fine?" She says, trying to interpret your latest signal. "But, you know, if you want to get a guy's eye... you probably won't have to put in that much effort. Like, look at your hands," Therese says, picking up one of Jessica's hands.

"You're not wearing make-up, which is a *big* thing - makes a hell of an effect. Guys like a girl with a pretty face. And..." Therese's glance lowers a little, "your bust. Natural?"

"U-um," Jessica hesitates, looking suddenly quite anxious.

"Incidentally," you interrupt, and Therese turns her attention from Jessica to you for the moment, "how is James doing? Last I heard, your husband was... oh, God, I'm sorry - is your James the athlete or the artist?"

"The artist," Therese replies. "He's fine. There's some gallery or other that's interested in his paintings, it still hasn't gone through, though." She turns back to Jessica, pulling her hands away. "Well, anyway, point is, you put a bit of effort in, and you'll be an 8 or 9 in any guy's book; maybe even a solid 10."

"There... there aren't really any guys I'm interested in, at the moment," Jessica says. "Well, there's... there's one, but he's not available right now."

"Ah," Therese says, "but what if you meet a guy you *are* interested in, besides Mr. Not Available Right Now? To be frank, you're looking pretty dumpy, and it's because you're not bothering to try."

"I don't know..." Jessica says.

You can't help but feel a little protective of Jessica; she's obviously not too comfortable with her current situation, so you try to change the subject. "Therese," you say, and Therese looks over at you again. "Would you like to show Jessica pictures of your beagle? She always was a dog person."

Therese practically lights up in response to that, and pulls out her phone, hurriedly switching over to the pictures of her cute little brown beagle doing a variety of things, including sitting down, wagging her tail, and fetching balls. Jessica starts to smile, a bit, at the photos, and sort of instinctively tries to make little coochie coo motions with her finger before stopping herself.

The two continue for a while, and you make a quick excuse to go get something from your car, leaving them alone.

When you return, they're giggling like schoolgirls, and every time Jessica glances over her shoulder at you as you approach the table, Therese whispers something to her, and she goes back to laughing. Well. Apparently they've started to bond, for better or worse.

After lunch, you and Jessica drive back to your apartment, together. Over the coming weeks, you'll...

A combination of 2 and 3. Encourage her to get closer to Therese, but do it in ways that put the ball in Jessica's court. Just ask her from time to time how Therese is, which should provide all the impetus you need to get her to send a text or email or FB message.

You decide to let Jessica set her own pace, though you do try to nudge her to keep up with Therese. At some point she does decide to register a Facebook account, and friends Therese... and nobody else. And doesn't really visit Therese, except when you say something like, "I'm going to visit Therese, would you like to come with me?" And even then... not always.

Her attempts to form friendships are tepid at best, and you suspect that one or two stories from her school and work are exaggerations of incredibly trivial events, intended to make you feel better about her "growing social circle," when it's still empty of pretty much anyone but you, and (in a very distant second) Therese. Things like, "I talked to Arthur from my class about the project," which you strongly suspect (based in part on follow-up questions) actually meant "I asked Arthur when the project was due."

"Backsliding" is being ungenerous; she's doing more than nothing (which is what she was doing before), but still a lot less than you would've hoped.

You don't feel like Jessica's made much progress, in terms of socializing, but maybe it's you who's misreading the situation. After Jessica cooks the two of you dinner - she's actually fairly good, it's apparently a skill she learned back in the cult - you broach the subject.

"Jessica," you start, "I can't help but notice that, for all you're managing at the gas station and your studying, you don't seem to be making much progress on the social front. I'm not trying to be judgmental, but do you just not care?"

Jessica hesitates, chewing her lip. "N-not really, Robin." She sighs. "You said to, so I tried, but I just... I don't know."

"Did you not enjoy meeting Therese?"

Jessica shrugs. "She's alright. It was fun enough. But... I don't know. It didn't kindle any spark in me, like it was supposed to. Maybe it's the drugs, or the sex, or some other shit I've been through... maybe I was just always like this... I don't know..." She pokes at her food. "If the only person I talk to all day is you... that's a good day, really."

Maybe we went the wrong way about doing this, and she'd be more comfortable if we started out by doing stuff together.

If she really likes spending time with us so much and our main concern is that she not become a total shut-in, I'm sure we'd both be happier if she had us there as support rather than having us trying to shoo her out the door to go hang out with other people all the time.

"So... that's it, then? You're fine with that? Just... being alone for the rest of your life, except for me?"

"Why not?" Jessica asks with a shrug. "I don't know. I feel like I'm supposed to care, but I don't, not really. Just one of those things, you know? Where the only reason you even consider doing something is because you're supposed to, and if you weren't told that it was normal, you wouldn't even give it a second glance?"

You sigh. "If that's how you are... that's how you are. You're my big sister, Jessica; I'll accept you no matter what. You can live your life the way you want."

She smiles, weakly, at that, looking up at you. "Thanks, Robby. You're a good little brother. I'm sorry I missed nine years of your life."

"I'm sorry you missed it too," you say, smiling at that.

"What about that guy you like? You sure he's unavailable?"

She laughs, bitterly. "Come on. You know it won't happen."

You lean over the table, wrapping one hand around the back of Jessica's head and pulling her close to you, her lips pressing against yours. She lets out a little squeak of surprise at that, but doesn't fight back, and after a moment, her hands are wrapped around your back, frantically holding you in her arms, her grip tight as though she was worried you'd disappear if she let go. The two of you awkwardly maneuver, your faces never leaving one another, over onto the bed, you flopping onto your back and pulling her down on top of you. Your tongues press and play against each other in the space where your mouths meet, your hands running up and down one another's bodies. Jessica's hands reach down to your groin, fiddling frantically with your belt and zipper.

"Are you safe?" You whisper, pulling your mouth away from hers for a moment.

"Yes," she says, before kissing you on the lips again. "I'm clean," she whispers, kissing at your neck as she removes your pants. "I've been tested."

>>
>>35275107
Who exactly do you think he is?
>>
"Oh, God, I love you, Jessica," you say, when she adjusts herself and plunges down your cock, your bodies meeting in an incestuous union. The fucking is frantic, and she's incredible at it; you worry that she'll be disappointed with your lackluster performance, but when you come down from your orgasm all she wants to do is kiss and cuddle, her motions just as charged and passionate now as they were during sex. Her hands and lips maneuver across your body for a long time before either of you get to sleep.

Jessica and you continue to live together, with Jessica slowly working her way to a GED and, eventually, becoming a nurse. While she's hardly a social butterfly at work, she gets on, and the two of you continue to live together, keeping your frantic lovemaking a secret. When work offers you a transfer to New Jersey - which, it turns out, does not criminalize incestuous sex between consenting adults - it's practically a godsend, and the two of you move together, still keeping your relationship a secret, Jessica getting a new job in the new city. You even adopt a couple of children together, since you can't safely have ones of your own. When you do adopt, Jessica quits her job to be a stay at home mother.

She's pretty much the perfect wife, even if the state wouldn't recognize your union, and the longer the two of you are together, the more beautiful she seems.

report is ancient.

recent studies found defect rate is ~3-4%, normal rate is ~2%.

a 40 year old woman is ~12% chance for a downs-baby if I remember the report right, and it gets significantly worse for every year over 40.
>>
Thanks OP. I did enjoy this, ending and all.
>>
>>35275179
That's fucking ancient; it's lower than that. Also deformities isn't even the biggest reason why incest is evolutionarily bad. It's the decrease in diversity of immune systems and the decrease in fertility within a population that's the biggest issue. Makes it hard for a species to grow and expand.

That's why animals, including human tribes, tend to practice incest regularly when they live on small islands. Frequent incest keeps the population from expanding to something that their small ecosystem wouldn't be able to support.
