Stage 35: Aftermath and Alternatives and Appellations.

A short while later, tears dried – on both sides of the hug – you and Kiki-hime walk over to where Er Yin-sensei and the others are talking softly and delving into their bentos, more snacks than actual meals. Kiku-chan dips into the basket and pulls out a ferociously pink one with small black polka dots for her sister, while you shake your head and take a bottle of water only, sitting on the soft grass and heedless of the effects on the silk you are wearing.

Kiki-hime sits next to you, looking relaxed, and you have to admit, you feel better. It is less of a burden to not have to consider how she will look at you when the time to deal out some real death and destruction comes. It is inevitable, perhaps, but for today at least you avoided the issue by convincing Ryuu Wakaba that she was much better served dealing with the annoying Catholics who have been slowly starting to intrude upon your live, bit by bit. Last time it was a tracking spell that was countered by Yui, and the time before they had been waiting near the faux-safehouse now abandoned. She may be a psychotic, but she's at least in control enough to serve Oba-san's interests for now.

Sooner or later you're going to have to face her, though.
>>
>>35280077
It's early afternoon now, and everyone has been training hard and working harder. Er Yin-sensei has let you know that she could cast the spell to summon allies with relative ease, and that it would work in a few days; Yui-chan is learning magic and how to use an actual weapon; Kiki-hime's archery is very good and it's clear that even a few blades of grass will suffice to be a threat to just about any enemy. You've made arrangement with Kiku-chan, Er-Yin, and Akari to protect Kiki-hime and Yui-chan as best you can, and practiced together enough that you are satisfied that against a small group of spirit -children or a pretty large group of humans would stand no chance at all against you. Tomorrow you have a date with an oni, and you are going to kick his ass ten thousand ways, as Er Yin might say.

For now, your family is relaxing in the quiet forest, aware that such places have spells that allow the Void dragonettes Wakaba uses to track the location of all six of you. Fortunately it is no more than that, and Er Yin claims she, Kiku-chan and Yui-chan can take care of that problem, but it will have to wait until they can consult with Jinyuu-onee-sama. Not even that can dispel the sense of calm that surrounds you at the moment, and the feel of Kiki-hime's tail wrapped gently but firmly about your own is still more reassuring.
>>
>>35280090
Soon, it will be time to go home, however, and while you are fairly sure your arrival here was safely ignored, there is always the possibility that Taisho Ryoga could have set up something to cause you trouble on the way back. He's done it before, using Hidesato, and while he may not have another demigod up his sleeve, there are at least two other groups of people with expertise out there that he can contact.

[] Take you family out to dinner – the military and the foreigners wouldn't be THAT stupid.
[] Get home as directly as you can manage.
[] Take a circuitous route, see what parks and tree lined boulevards you can map out.
[] Since it's daylight and Tashio can't be that stupid, send them home while you see Hinata-hakase about your fight tomorrow.
[] See them home, then go find Rie and see what she knows about Kurao Goto.

Kiku, the shortest, is 5' 1" for ever and ever. Lesbian submissive.
Akari is 5' 3", and has another few inches to grow. Sexuality is weird, switch.
Yui is 5' 4" and will only grow due to circumstances beyond her control (though she will be able to change her size, being Void oni). Dyke, switch.
Kiki is 5' 6", and is at full growth. Bisexual bottom.
Ryukusa is tall at 5' 8", but this becomes 6' in her true form. She is fully grown. Lesbian top.
Er Yin is the tallest at 5' 10" and is fully grown. Lesbian dominant..
Jinyuu is 5' 7" but persistently hovers an extra three inches above the ground or floor because of her nature as a seer. Straight.
Hinata Hakase is 6' 3". Sexuality is terrifying.
Hidesato is 5' 5". Straight.

Taisho Ryoga is 5' 9". Who knows.
Hyun Chisato is 5' 4”, and is fully grown. Lolicon with plausible deniability.
Rie is 8” tall or 5' 5”, and is fully cat. Her sexuality is cat.

[X] Take a circuitous route, see what parks and tree lined boulevards you can map out.
[X] See them home, then go find Rie and see what she knows about Kurao Goto.

“As much fun as it has been, I'm afraid we can't stay out too much later. I definitely want to be home and inside before dark.” Your claim makes Yui look confused, but before you can explain Akari murmurs softly to her and she becomes serious, nodding sagely. Kiki-hime, of course, is used to her movements being controlled by her bodyguards, and sadly that hasn't changed just yet. “Kiki-hime, Yui-niji-chan, you're both progressing incredibly well in every way, and that makes me feel much better.” you boy your heat to Kiku-chan and Er Yin-sensei. “Thank you both for helping them so much.” Akari smiles slightly; she made it very clear a long time ago that you don't need to thank her. You need to get her something nice sometime. Because she's more than earned it.

After everyone has replenished their energy and re-hydrated, which isn't strictly necessary for people who run off of spiritual existence as much as physical existence, you start on the way back to the car. It quickly becomes an impromptu game of tag, at least between Yui, Kiku, and Akari; when Yui taps Kiku-chan on the shoulder and then blows in her ear, which makes the delicate girl yelp in shock and exhale a puff of flame. She probably would have caught Yui-chan right away, but Yui quickly gathers clouds beneath her feet and bolts away.

Kiki-hime giggles softly as her elder sister shouts virulent curse words at the fleeing oni-girl, who pauses just long enough to stick her tongue out and pull down one eyelid. THAT causes Kiku-chan's hair to burst into flaming life, where blowing in her ear did not. Muttering for a few seconds, Kiku-chan notices Akari shaking her head and smiling slightly...and then Kiku-chan is beside Akari, and puffs a breath into HER ear, before streaking away nearly too fast to see.
>>
>>35281132
You can't help but laugh as Akari immediately starts leaping through the trees, darting between and around branches with the skill and speed of a gymnast on cocaine, while Yui and Kiku-chan try and avoid making a predictable move that will let her get close.

Er Yin-sensei smiles at their antics, as she walks with the folded spetum in hand. “Despite her age, my beloved jewel is as playful as your companions, Ryukusa-sama.”

Kiki-hime smiles, taking your hand in hers, her thumb rubbing lightly along your wrist. “Onee-sama is less serious than she seems sometime, and isn't as angry as she acts. I think she's enjoying the freedom she has now that she hasn't had in a long time.” You glance at your wife curiously. “She was serving under Hinata-hakase long before I was born, and even then she only stopped by where I lived when she was permitted.” Your grin is immediate and Kiki-hime blushes. “Not like that, Ryu-chan!”

[] What duties did she have exactly. Kiki-hime?
[] Well, now she's apparently my miko....but I really don't know what that means.
[] Well, you know I can't help thinking it, Kiki-hime.

[X] Mostly serious, with some light teasing, and a forecast of totally lewd.

You watch with amusement as Akari shocks both Yui and Kiku by leaping from a tree into a rock. Not onto – into, as entirely into it like it was water. Both of them stop and stare, though you're amused by the fact that Kiku-chan forgot about that particular trick. Kiki-hime is shocked as well, but not nearly as shocked as Kiku-chan is when Akari slides out of the ground near her feet and runs her fingers along the base of the Fire dragonette's tail before sliding back into the ground and reappearing some distance away. That brings a cascade of swearing and another racing match – though you note they're all very careful to orbit the center-point that is you and Kiki-hime in their wild chase.

“It can't be helped, Kiku-chan is too adorable not to be hugged and kissed by every dragonette who sees her, Kiki-hime!” Your wife blushes, and you kiss the hand clasped in yours. “While I'm not entirely sure I understand the meaning if it, Kiku-chan is my miko now. Or at least, my priestess. I haven't the foggiest idea if that means she serves me like she would a normal miko, or like the priestesses who serve the kamuy....”

“Koshinto is not too different from the Shinto you know, Ryukusa-sama. The rites are more simple, and often shorter, but in practice there is little enough difference. To Kiku, you are a deity, or will be one, and she serves as your interpreter to the other kamuy. She will be your go-between for them, and perform services for those who are closest to you, much as a miko would.” Er Yin-sensei smiles and she smiles as Kiku-chan crashes Yui-chan into some brush, with much squealing on both sides; the airy, beautiful giggles of your best friend drift over the breeze to you.
>>
>>35281864
Kiki-hime glances at the Void dragonette. “Er Yin-sensei....does that mean she never has to go back to Hinata-hakase?”

“That would be more a question for Ryukusa-sama, but her duties are no longer to the Temple of Forgotten Stones and Flowers, no.” You vividly recall the prayer Kiku-chan said there, and how it made you feel. Strengthened, empowered you.

“Well, if you'd like,. I can certainly make sure that Hinata-hakase didn't take any advantage of her, Er Yin-sensei....for a certain price of course.” You wink at Kiki-hime who giggles softly. “At the very least we can find an outlet for all this extra energy she has. Perhaps we didn't train her hard enough....are you all right Kiki-hime? You look awfully flushed....” You give her your best not quite innocent look as Er Yin-sensei laughs softly.

“I think that Kiki-san is recalling how much energy my precious jewel has to put forth in privacy, Ryukusa-sama. She was quite detailed in her descriptions of your efforts to subdue her.” Now it's your turn to blush a little, which makes Kiki-hime giggle.

Something occurs to you then. “What sort of duties did she have for Hinata-hakase, Kiki-hime, do you know?”
>>
>>35281883
The trio of younger spirit-children, looking rather disheveled and yet none the worse for wear for their high speed game of tag, are following you now, speaking amongst themselves. “From what she said, it was mostly making offerings and reciting lists of names, describing and praying to the fading spirits and kami and youkai that don't get much attention anymore. Not really much more than that, but it seemed to make her very tired. She would sleep for a day or more when she came home from the temple....” She moves a little closer to you, her arm slipping about your waist. You reach up and play with her hair lightly, which helps her relax some. “She didn't seem hurt, just....always so drained and tired. I was always afraid Hinata-hakase would do something terrible.”

“You needn't fear that, Kiki-hime, I promise.” You kiss her temple as the younger – well, in one case younger seeming – trio catch up with you. “Akari, Yui, go check the vehicle. Kiku-chan, stay close for a bit.” Yui-chan summons another cloud, and this time Akari hops onto it and they speed off to the parking area not too far off. “We're going to take the long way home. I want to see what groupings of trees are around where we live so we can plan around them until my Seer, my Priestess, and my Harbinger can undo the magic that surrounds them.”

Kiku-chan blinks. “Harbinger?”

[X] You should hear what I call you sometimes....

Kiki-hime smiles sidelong at you as the somewhat androgynously dressed and terribly mussed Fire dragonette walks next to her lover. “Compared to the things I call you, it's not nearly so bad, Miko-Kiku-chan,” you say in your best deadpan. Those golden eyes narrow, mere slips of shining metal and threads of darkness. “You know, adorable, cute, precious, lickable....”

Her eyes turn into molten pools of gold and she opens her mouth to let out a spate of invective that will at the very least include 'ecchi', 'bakayaro', and 'hentai' when Er Yin-sensei speaks softly. “You already have twenty-five. Are you really going to make it thirty five, Hougyoku-chan?”

Kiki-chan is obviously confused and looks at you, but you've already guessed. Kiku-chan's deep blush and look of alarm prove it though, and you glance at your wife. A gentle swat on her soft behind with your tail makes her gasp, and she starts to speak, but your amused smile makes her swallow the words that then come out as a soft, “....oh.”
>>
>>35282303
You give her the real answer after letting Er Yin-sensei's comment get her nice and worried. “Truthfully, if I am going to be the bringer of destruction, I should at least warn people before they get to that point. It seems to me to be only fair.” Kiki-hime smiles and leans into you as you and your companions step into the sunlight along the parking area. Akari and Yui are next to the suburban, speaking quietly to one another. Discussing what they will do if it seems like Goto is going to win, from Yui's words. It's much harder to read Akari's lips at this distance; her placid expression and ducked head interferes, which doesn't surprise you. “I'm still working on them. I gave her and Akari a bunch yesterday. I was mostly joking.” Kiku-chan looks at you dubiously. “....sort of.” She snorts and you sigh.

Akari-niji-chan opens the doors, then she and Yui take up positions on opposite sides of the vehicle as you assist Er Yin-sensei and Kiki-hime into it, with Kiku-chan sitting next to her mistress as you settle next to Kiki-hime. “Er Yin-sensei, I want you see what groups of trees are affected by the magic you told us about on the way home.” With that you settle back for the ride, and take your wife's hand in yours again.

Akari starts to get into the drivers seat and then stops still, a strange expression on her face. She gestures to Yui, who slides over and takes a position between the two seats, on guard, but she's as confused as everyone else is at the moment, you being no exception. Akari steps away from the vehicle, walking back towards the woods, and crouches, slowly, head down and breathing deeply. Yui-chan looks concerned, but holds her ground, though there isn't any threat nearby that you can sense or see.

[] Wait patiently, she'll explain.

Your Water Eyes are one of the few abilities that will work on Stone dragonettes despite their typical immunity to most of the powers of Water. Akari-niji-chan is no exception. A quick glance around lets you see the others are concerned, particularly Kiki-hime and Yui-chan, with the notable exception of Er Yin-sensei. Kiki-hime needs protecting so that out, and Yui-chan is obeying Akari-niji-chan, so you don't want to disrupt those still-forming bonds just yet.

Looking at Akari, on the other hand, reveals some bizarre things. First of all, she's trying to control nausea. Which is ridiculous because dragonettes don't get sick in any ordinary manner, and if she were prone to motion sickness it would have been trained out of her ages ago. You don't see any indication that she's been poisoned or magically influenced, she's just nauseous and trying to control it. An impossibility made real. She's getting it under control, but it's still both extremely unusual and extremely troubling.

[] Go out and speak with here privately.
[] Trust in her to do what's best.
[] Wait until you get home.
[] As Er Yin or Kiku-chan what could make a dragonette nauseous that isn't poison or magic.
[] Try telepathy with Er Yin, who seems to have a clue.

[X] Trust in her to do what's best.
[X] Try telepathy with Er Yin, who seems to have a clue.

Without looking, and still holding Kiki-hime's hand, and remaining outwardly and physically relaxed, you carefully try to reach through the Void to Er Yin-sensei. It's not reliable, but she has stated that it does work one-way at least. This time, rather than words, you simply try to express yourself with feelings of concern and curiosity, working your emotional content into a packet of feelings that the thoughtful sorceress should be able to decipher fairly easily.

It seems to work much better than last time and her tail slides under the seat to stroke your ankle lightly through the silk pants....and then traces a fairly complex kanji – no, that's an ideogram. A pretty specific ideogram. Any thoughts of asking about the causes aloud vanish instantly.

Oh. Well. That's....well, totally unexpected would be the least justice you could do it. It was supposed to be utterly impossible, without the use of potent magics or pretty profound rituals, you were told by people who should be in the know. And it really was only the once, and she is a Stone dragonette, so that would have been really ridiculous to have been expecting it, so you really couldn't be blamed for your shock and surprise-

“Ryu-chan?” Kiki-hime's concern cuts through your train of thought quickly, and you concentrate very hard – VERY HARD – on controlling your heartbeat and easing up on your grip on her hand.

“She's all right. It happens on occasion.” Well, apparently on one occasion. You're really going to have to talk to Jinyuu-onee-sama about this. Then again, it might be better not to.

Akari being pregnant is not exactly something that was supposed to be in the realm of possibility.

Akari stands up and stretches, looking as placid and relaxed as ever as she walks back to the car to the relief of everyone. As she climbs in, Yui takes the passenger seat once more. “Gomennasai,” is all she says as she starts up the suburban. You keep your own expression just as controlled, and tell her to forget about it. The others inquire politely, but she merely shakes her head and gives them her stoic, gentle smile – it isn't important, it isn't worth talking about.

The drive home is otherwise uneventful (for which you will say prayers, without fail) and Er Yin-sensei lets you know only larger groups of trees have the Wakaba's Void dragonette spell on them. It takes at least sixteen trees to activate the spell, so most roads and city streets are safe, along with most suburban areas outside of parks. That makes things a little easier, and will also make it much easier for the trio of sorcerously inclined family members to solve the problem.

[X] You need to corner Akari in private now.
[X] You need to locate Rie and see what she knows and can do for you.
[X] You need to discuss these developments with Jinyuu-onee-sama.

It takes some effort to act normally once you get home and out of the car, which is helped a great deal by Akari's stoic determination to demonstrate that there is no change in the world as it works; the staggered grouping that you left with works equally well upon your return (because elevators are fucking deathtraps, it's in every movie and every T.V. show ever). There are only a few neighbors out and about – otherwise the coast is clear, almost suspiciously so despite all the precautions you take.

When you finally get everyone inside, Jinyuu-onee-sama is working on dinner already. Though it will be some time in the making until she gets the loads of help that will undoubtedly be forthcoming after a few showers. More importantly everyone in general relaxes as the unspoken and innate tension of protecting your principle is taken off your collective shoulders.

Kiki-hime turns and you immediately give her a close hug, kissing her lightly on the lips. “I am going to shower, Ryu-chan. I won't be too long, I would guess everyone will be showering....” this last is more a generalized question, to which Er Yin and Kiku-chan readily agree, as does a still-concerned Yui-chan. Kiki-hime slips away from you and it's kind of difficult to not watch her walk away in those really tight cut-off shorts she's wearing.

Your noticing is noticed by several other people of course, and there is soft laughter. Er Yin takes her lover's hand and walks her to their bedroom, Kiku-chan's hair wafting lightly in alarm. You gently take Yui by the hand as she moves to follow Akari into the bedroom, and you whisper to her softly as you pull her close: “It's all right, Yui-chan. Let me go speak with her. I promise, she's fine.” Your words don't just reassure her – she immediately relaxes, Yui's absolute faith in you possibly rivaling that of Akari's.

“All right aniki. I'll help Jinyuu-sensei make dinner then, if that's okay.” You glance at your sister, who smiles and nods, and you give your oni-chick a light kiss on the horn, before letting her leave. Then you slip inside her and Akari's room silently. Akari is already undressing, wearing nothing more than her simple black bra and the simple black panties she always wears as she places her clothing in a tidy stack to the side. You don't need to announce your presence any more than she needs to acknowledge it; you're too close to one another for that.

[] Smile, and give your niji-chan all the hugs.
[] Step over, go to your knees, and hold her close to you.
[] Take her into your arms, and give her a kiss.
[] Go over and help her undress, asking her if she's all right.
[] Let her come to you, this once.

[XX] Smile, and give your niji-chan all the hugs.
[XXX] Let her come to you, this once.

One of the things that struck you first about Hebiki Akari when you first met her – other than her immense strength – was that she rarely looked you in the eyes. She would speak to you, and look in your general direction, but even when facing you directly, she kept her eyes politely averted from yours. It took you a while to understand that it was not a matter of fear, low self esteem (though you learned about that problem quickly enough), or deference. It was because once she did, she almost always lose herself in them, as if she were caught and couldn't look away. When you asked her why she would shake her head and smile shyly, and never answer.

It took you a much longer time to figure ~that~ answer out.

As she sets aside her panties and bra, she turns slowly towards you, a picture of lithe beauty. Lethal beauty. Invulnerable, faithful, and stoic, and now the mother of your second child. Only when she walks towards you do you step away from the door, and open your arms. Silent and careful, she gracefully steps into your embrace and rests her head on your bosom, her carnelian eyes closing as she sighs softly, a faint smile still gracing her lips.

You lay your lips along her soft hair, and hold her tight. She holds you gently, for her part, more gently than necessary by far. Her voice is barely a whisper when she speaks after a long moment. “Er Yin-sensei says that because of what we are, I am going to have problems with the child.” The fear that makes your heart race eases as Akari continues. “Not that there will be problems carrying the child. Just....something like the morning sickness, she called it. Cravings for strange food. Mood changes.”
>>
>>35284532
“Akari, I don't think anyone will notice your mood changes except me. And I am....I am so very happy that we could share this, together. I didn't think that I could give you this....”

Akari looks up, her eyes gazing into yours. “I did not think it could happen either. But I am glad it did. I will take care of myself aniki. You don't need to worry.” You suppress the urge to laugh. She smiles, and reaches up, tracing your horns and making your entire body tingle. “I will explain to Yui. She will be very happy too, I think.”

You recall Yui-niji-chan's wish, and deliver a deep kiss to your best friend; she responds with equal fervor. When you finally break the kiss, you whisper to her regretfully, “I have tasks ahead of me, Akari-chan. I'm sorry – I wish I could stay.”

Her smile is gentle and she shakes her head. “It is Ryukusa-aniki. It can't be helped.”

You merely nod and slip away from her, taking a deep breath. She smiles and walks away from you, and that is one incredibly fine young dragonette. Right, telling Yui to go see her wife! Jinyuu-onee-sama! Rie-san! Work!

It still takes you a minute to make your legs work even after Akari slips into the bathroom. Stepping outside rather shakily, you tell Yui-chan to go wash up, to which her resounding 'haaaai' and a quick trot is her response, though she pauses to kiss your cheek in passing.

[X] Jinyuu-onee-sama first.
[~] Sake first.
[X] You owe prayers still, but it's not critical.

You walk slowly to the breakfast nook and sit down slowly, the image of Akari walking away still burned into your mind. Naked. Tail. Jade ridge. That grace.

Hot tea is set in front of you, the rich green tea made with the thick syrup that you and your sister have always shared a love for. It barely distracts you, and you gulp a swallow of the too hot tea, letting the heat call you from the vision of – STOP THAT! Jinyuu-onee-sama is looking a little concerned. You stand up, walk around the breakfast nook and get your jar of plum wine, and walk back to your seat. You set the jar on the counter, and bow your head, hands held together, giving thanks to the Kamuy for watching over your family so well this day, and ask that they continue to do so.

You rip pen the seal, and hold it over the sink as Jinyuu-onee-sama watches, bemused. You pour out three generous libations....and then drink the remaining third of the jar yourself, in one go. Your sister is staring at you with no small amount of shock and you set the jar down.

Before she speaks you beat her to it. “Akari-niji-chan is with my child, onee-sama.”

Her eyes widen and her disbelief is nearly palpable. “You should not have been able to do that, not without a great deal of assistance, Aka-chan.”

You hold up your hands helplessly. “I did not even have half of the strength I have now when it happened between us, onee-sama.”

She looks at you seriously and your heart flutters. “You are certain that she is pregnant with your child?” Her doubt brings to mind a million ideas of disaster.
>>
>>35285238
But it is Er Yin, whose Void eyes see deeper, and who is a sorceress, and who would definitely warn you if there was trouble that could arise from this. Not to say that there might not be later, but she wouldn't let you think anything but the truth. Er Yin is trustworthy and has no reason to deceive you, even in the most dangerous moments, much less one that isn't dangerous. “I have it on the very best of authority, onee-sama.”

Jinyuu-onee-sama steps away from the sink on the other side of the counter and stirs the pots on the stove carefully, deliberately. She thinks for what seems like forever, but probably isn't more than a few seconds to everyone else in the world except maybe Kiku-chan, and then speaks softly. “That you are a water child will make the pregnancy difficult for her, Aka-chan. You should take care. But she is a Stone child, so I do not think anything can harm the child between you and she. I will pray for more guidance. But Aka-chan....”

Jinyuu turns to you and looks at you seriously again. “For this to happen requires the blessings of powerful Kami. One of the Dragon Kami, or Amaterasu-Omikami. None other could do this. Except perhaps Hinata-hakase, but she would have to have given you or Akari-chan something to drink.”

[] Can you find out which one?
[] Would Kuroukami do such a thing to get Yui back?

Oh, Ammy. Please, keep being so great.

[X] I have an idea who it could have been, but I can't say.
[X] Is there anything that can make it easier for Akari-chan?

“Well, it definitely wasn't Hinata-hakase, unless the ointments she used to help heal me would do it, but she was working with Kiku-chan, who definitely would have mentioned something.” Kiku-chan has always been honest too, when you ask firmly enough. More importantly she promised her sister she would not let Hinata-hakase do anything to you, and that's a bond she would never break for anything. “I have an idea who it might have been but I think it would be better if I didn't say just now.” It doesn't feel like something you can't say; the knowledge that what she says you can't say you can't say is absolute. “I think it is all right, really.”

A touch of paranoia isn't out of place, even with your own sister though.

“But I'm more worried about Akari-chan, onee-sama. Is there anything you can do to make it easier for her? I'll ask Er Yin-sensei as well, but you know more about that kind of thing. Yui-niji-chan might too, now that I think of it.” Your sister is smiling gently, but you can tell she's smiling at your misplaced worry. “Be nice, onee-sama....” you complain softly and that actually makes her laugh.

“Yes, Aka-chan, I can make her foods and teas which will help her. They will ease her problems gently and safely. Would you like me to draw horoscopes for your children?” With the dates of conception, they would be perfect horoscopes, which could be useful. You might get a clue as to what kind of dragon-child Akari is carrying!
>>
>>35286118
“Yes please....thank you very much, Jinyuu-onee-sama. Akari-niji-chan was right to recommend I see you, and I am sorry for putting you through so much trouble. Please forgive this worthless lizard?” You bow your head over your hands and she laughs gently and lays her hand upon your soft, sea-tainted hair.

“Of course, Aka-chan. You are my sister, regardless of birth, and will always be so.” A smile escapes your lips as she murmurs the reassurance.

You look up slowly. “I'm afraid I won't be able to stay for dinner. I have to go find the nekomata.” You rise from your seat, you take a deep breath. “Please take care of my family while I am gone, onee-sama.”

She bows her head slightly. “I would be honored, Aka-chan.” With that you step outside, onto the balcony, and close the door behind you.

Of course the damn cat isn't there when you actually want her to be. Fuckin' nekomata.

[X] Find a place that sells really good octopus!
[X] Trust in the kamuy to guide you, and just go.

You take a deep breath and leap from your balcony to the wall, back to the roof of another balcony, and back and forth the four times it takes you to get to the top of the wall. You pause there, recalling the last time you stood here....but now it is nearing sunset, and she is going to sleep for the evening. You still bow your head and give her your love, and she peeks from behind the mountains at you.

So fortified, you leap to the ground and start walking, trying to recall which of the local restaurants sold the absolute best tako. The little cat fiend loves the stuff, so it would make sense that she hang around such places as a cat to collect offerings. Which suddenly makes a lot of sense for her to do – it would explain her strength as a nekomata, above and beyond age. An offering is an offering, after all.

It doesn't take you long to get lost in the maze that is Shinjuku, and you do spot a number of cats, one or two of which are even youkai, but no Rie just yet. It takes you some time, but you finally have to take a break and stop at a roadside soba stand, one which smells like they have some pretty good octopus. You settle down, and the vendor starts preparing some noodles and tako for you, when you feel the eyes on your back. Three pair, approaching slowly.
>>

“So, the kidnapper shows her face again!”

Oh no.

“Now you'll pay!”

Yep. It's them.

“....mumblemumbleevilmumblemumbledragonmumblemumblebitchmumble....”

….of course they'd show up. You turn in your seat and cross your arms, looking at the trio of would be rescuers of Kumatori Kiki. Different ones than last time, but just as ugly and just as irritating.

“That's right, tremble in fear of ANONIMOUS!” A Stone oni-child, a Wood oni-child, and a Fire oni-child. Just what you needed. And they're all dressed in RED NINJA OUTFITS.

You turn around and look at the soba vendor.

“A beer, please.”
