Characters and Gunpla: http://pastebin.com/az88EdJt

You are JACK FOULKE, an amateur Gunpla Fighter with dreams to make your own mark on the Gunpla battle scene!

Today is the morning of the semifinals. While Holly is busy putting the finishing touches on your Jester repairs. You're passing the time catching up on the fights that were happening alongside yours in the last round.

First, there was Fellini's fight against Mao. Mao put up a pretty good fight, but it was clear after the first couple of minutes that it was Fellini's fight. The Crossbone Maoh's reliance on his big ticket weapons like his satellite cannon and buster sword proved to be his undoing as they were too big and unwieldy to catch the quick and nimble Rinaschita. All Fellini needed to to do was wait for an opening and knock out the Maoh with a pinpoint buster rifle shot.

Laura had the misfortune of being matched up against the Renato brothers, who took her simplistic, head on attack style and used it against her. First they lured her Loto Leopard into an open, sandy area, where they had preplanted a series of sonic emitters that literally liquefied the ground under the Loto, sinking it into the earth. Now, that sort of weapon would be useless against any other mobile suit except one that could fly, which led you to believe that the Renatos deliberately tailored their loadout against Laura. While not against the rules, it was generally seen as unsportsmanlike.

You already knew how Charlotte's fight was going to turn out, but you decided to watch it, anyways. It was a dazzling lightshow of two bright red Gunpla crisscrossing each other in the air. The Krimson Kampfer's natural speed and agility seemed just enough to match the F91 Imagine and its Back Jetstream move, and for most of the fight neither fighter was able to get an advantage over the other. However, near the end, you noted the Kampfer exhibiting an odd, blue glow in the gaps and joints of its armor, and its performance enhanced significantly, wrecking the F91 in a sudden, unexpected burst of speed. You briefly wonder if Charlotte had been forced to expose her trump card, even if for just a little bit. You also noted that when she moved to pick up her Kampfer after the battle, she made sure to do so with a thick, protective cloth. Curious.

Finally, you decide to hit up an ESPN stream to see the general news of what was going on in the tournament.

"So, the Gunpla World Tournament Finals are just around the corner!" One of the announcers says excitedly. "And boy, was it nothing like we expected!"

"That's right, Joe!" The other announcer nodded. "Now, Fellini and the Renato brothers were always expected to place highly, and Rafale was always seen as the supernova of the season, but out of nowhere, we get Jack Foulke, who managed an upset victory against Meijin Kawaguchi!"

You then saw clips of the fight taking place, showing a few highlights, such as both of your Gunpla going Trans Am, and the final swordfight.

"So, Tom, do you think this kid is the real deal, or has he just lucked his way in this far?"

"I don't think you can just 'luck' your way past the Meijin, Joe." Tom shakes his head. "But we'll see in his next fight against-"

"-the Renato brothers. They've consistently proven to be very crafty fighters. I do believe in the 7th WT, they nearly took out the Meijin in the semifinals."

The screen shows some older replay footage with the GM Sniper K9 doing pretty well against the Kampfer Amazing, up until it got shredded to pieces by a vulcan cannon. Kind of poetic, really.

"So I assume you've got your money on Foulke, then?" Joe asks.

"You bet! If the last couple years have shown us anything, it's that you can't underestimate the newcomers!"

"Well, I'm sticking with the Renatos here, especially considering how they ripped apart another promising newcomer in the last round. Anyways, be sure to stay tuned for our live coverage of the semifinals later today!"

You turn off the stream as ads start playing and go to check on Holly.

"Hey, Holly, is the Jester ready?" You ask.

"Yep!" Holly nods. "It's good as new!"

"Thanks." You ruffle your sister's hair. "Anyways, I gotta head for the stadium. I'll see you later."

You head for the stadium alone this time, as it seemed Charlotte had already left. You sort of wonder why she'd leave so early, and you quickly see why.

Reporters.

Lots of them.

And they were swarming all over the stadium entrance. You guess with the finals coming closer, media attention would start to increase around the event.

You decide to proceed straight to the stadium. The time for talk was over. Now was the time to fight!

Once again you're bombarded with cheering and applause as you enter the stadium. On the outer periphery, you briefly notice that some previous fighters have now become spectators, eager to see who will take home the championship in person. You head for your assigned table, where you see the Renato brothers have already set up shop.

"Well look at this, the little pup's finally arrived." You see one of them sneer.

"Time to teach the little upstart a lesson." The other brother nods.

Jeez, what a pair of dicks.

You don't say anything and just calmly take out your Jester. As expected, the Renatos bring out their GM Sniper K9 mk2, a rebuild of their previous Gunpla, which undoubtedly had expanded capabilities. You couldn't afford to underestimate it.

PLEASE SET GP BASE

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL

FIELD: FOREST

PLEASE SET YOUR GUNPLA

Both your Jester and the K9 are deployed into the field. Immediately, you try to get a good read on your surroundings. This time, it was a forested area at night, so everything was rather dark. Your camera switches to nightvision mode, while your Balls deploy to give you extra eyes. Your Defender Ball rises up a bit to get a higher view.

From what you can see, you were set down on a peninsula. To your south was the coast, while up north was more forest with a decently sized town and a military compound set in the middle. Farther north, near the table boundary was a set of hills.

You wonder where the Renatos could set up. The forest provided a lot of concealment, which would give them plenty of places to hide and lay traps. The town and base had a lot of hard cover they could use as protection, while the hills were the high ground and had a rather commanding view of the field.

The Forest has poor visibility and lots of traps.
The Town is cramped, with poor visibility and is filled with traps.

The Hills are open, with little cover besides the hillsides and I'll give you three chances to guess what the renatos put in there. First two don't count.

We have a GN drive and its Magical Pixie Dust Generator powers.
Powers that include flying despite having the aerodynamics of a brick.

>Take to the air and use your scanners, get a feel of the terrain and where thy might hide.

We do have a pretty good build for fighting the Renatos. ECM and powerful sensors will eliminate a lot of their advantages. Add to that the fact that we can flank them with the Balls like they can with the Dog Pack and the Trans-Am to counter their EXAM and we have a better shot than most would against their tricks. Hell, we even have the whole greased joints thing, too, to counter any sapping. I'm sure the Renatos have added plenty of new tricks, but at least their old ones won't work.
>>
>>35293684
You decide to head for the hills. It would give you the high ground, as well as deny it to the Renatos, whose Gunpla was heavily reliant on sniping. However, GETTING to the hills was another issue. In order to get there, you'd have to cut through the forest, or go around it on the coast. The forest was the most direct route, but also the easiest to get ambushed in. The coast was relatively safer, but it would take a lot longer to get to the hills, and you would have no guarantee of reaching there before the Renatos did.

Or hell, you could just fly there. Damn the torpedoes and all.

Not really related to this, but I just thought of something neat. I'm watching the subbed first episode of Reconguista in G right now. And it occurs to me that several of the designs have torsos with the waist joint being a large spherical section. I suggest that Jack's next gunpla be one of those. Mix it with the Core Block system and he could combine with the Balls as needed. Just eject the current torso and fly in a new one with new features.
>>
>>35293887
You decide to carefully push into the forest, keeping a wary eye out for any possible traps or ambushes. Your Balls follow suit, acting as extra eyes as they keep a full 360 watch. Your Defender Ball flies ahead, considering it's the one that can take the most damage from any potential trap.

However, you've seen no indication of the K9 anywhere. You could try pinging it on radar, However, the forest would limit your effective detection range, so it would only pick them up if they were close to you. You also risked giving away your own position, since you had no doubt that the Renatos had ways of detecting active sensors.

You decide to not use your radar. You keep pressing forward, fortunately not running into anything dangerous.

However, your sensors wail an alarm and you turn your head to see missiles firing off straight into the sky. You wonder just what the hell the Renatos were doing. No way those missiles could get a lock on you. You weren't getting any radar locks, the missiles were too far away for IR to work, you were in cover so optical sensors were out of the question, and in the even they were using some kind of anti-radiation missile, you never even turned on your radar.

However, you can see the missiles turn and head toward your position. Obviously, those missiles had some way of tracking you!

Your mind raced. They had to be tracking something unique to your Gunpla, so that it didn't risk coming back to hit them...

And then it hits you like a fish to the face. Your GN Drive! Those assholes must have brought out GN-seeking missiles!

You had a few options. You could shoot down the missiles, but you'd give away your position. Your could try using your countermeasure suite, but you weren't sure how they would affect the missiles' guidance systems. You could also split up your Balls to draw the missiles away. Actually, you could have your Balls got Trans Am. You reckon that would throw enough GN particles into the field to make the missiles pretty much useless, at least for a while.

Well, you're not sure if the countermeasures worked, or whether there was sufficient GN particle dispersal to throw off their aim, as some of the missiles veer off course and head for the trees behind you. However, one missiles stays on target, and makes a beeline straight for your formation. Thankfully, your Defender Ball manages to intercept it just in time, but only just. The missile slams into its planet defensor field, causing a massive explosion. The shockwave is enough to knock your Jester on its ass and causes your Balls to rattle in the air briefly.

The last three land in the trees and explode brilliantly as well, further disorienting your Gunpla. Damn, guess they gave those missiles a wide blast to make up for the fact they were tracking an easily dispersed particle.

However, you now have a rough position of where the missiles came from. You consider chasing after the Renatos, but knowing them, it might just be a proxy launcher or their K9 unit. You'd just be on a wild goose chase. Then again, in either case, that launcher might still have ammo, and killing the K9 unit would get rid of almost half the threat. And you could always luck out and run into the actual GM Sniper.

Or you could just hold your position. The Renatos would have to send something in to confirm the kill...

Unfortunately, you can't tell if you've really hit anything or not. Your Dakka Balls swoop in and sweep the area. One of them spots the silhouette of the Sniper making a run for the town, no doubt to a backup sniping position. However, before it can fire, it gets tackled by the K9 unit, which latches on and doesn't let go, throwing off the Dakka Ball's aim as the robotic dog claws at its armor.

Your second Dakka Ball hesitates, as if trying to decide to help its fellow Ball or pursue the Sniper.

The K9 then explodes in a much larger fireball than you expect. That K9 unit was no doubt rigged with explosives as a sort of roving booby trap. That was pretty low.

By this point, you reached the remnants of the burning base. Your Beamspam Ball had been keeping an eye on the town and hadn't seen the Sniper come out, meaning that he was still in there. While you were sure the Sniper wasn't as adept as your Jester in close combat, he no doubt had plenty of time to turn the town into a fortress.

You and your Balls expend pretty much all of your munitions just raining down fiery doom upon the unsuspecting town. Buildings are blown apart as if they were made of nothing but glass and twigs. Secondary explosions ripple through the streets as countless booby traps are set off by the assault. You can see GM Sniper dashing out of the town. You try to follow until you see that they Renatos had more than one K9 unit. They had an entire damn wolfpack of them, easily a half dozen or so, screening their masters' escape. Can't be helped, we did have a string of crits this session so our luck does have to run low sometimes.
>>
>>35297111
You can't quite spot the GM Sniper, at least not before it takes a shot at you. Thankfully, your Defender Ball just happens to be in the right position and its I-Field saves you, deflecting the sniper beam shop away from you and into the sky. You've now got a rough idea where the Sniper was now.

If we had so annoying a time fighting these guys, then if it was Charlotte she'd be even more annoyed.

You draw your beam rifle and point at the rough area the beam fired from. However, before committing to anything, you ping the are with your radar again to confirm his position.

You know when ever you roll for damage I always wondered which is worse, high or low numbers for critical damage?
>>
>>35297190
You get a positive lock on the Sniper and fire off you beam rifle in response. However, you only seem to graze the GM Sniper, which doesn't stop it from trying to line up another shot. You see its visor start glowing red, as well, no doubt activating its EXAM system.

It's a system from the UC 1 year war where a Zeon scientist created a system for a mobile suit pilot to fight on the level of a newtype. The horrible thing about the EXAM system is that the main part of it used the trapped soul of a newtype.
>>
>>35297369
>Rush it with Trans Am

I have no idea what it is but all caps is never a good thing.
>>
>>35297383
In canon, the EXAM system basically turns the suit into Evangelion Unit 01. A computer housing a trapped human soul lets the mobile suit faster and more powerful, but it occasionally goes berserk and tries to kill everything in order to end its pain. But the Renato brothers didn't have any souls to work with, so it just does the enhancement effects without any berserking. It's basically functions as Trans-Am, when they use it.
>>
>>35297413
>>35297407

Ah. Then lets just go all out on it, yeah?
>>
>>35297346
IIRC the roll is for location hit not actual damage.
>>
>>35297429
This is definitely a "oh shit" moment when a sniper gets enhanced reflexes.
>>
>>35297429
I'm just worried that they're using it to lure us in and have something planned for when we get closer. Probably not, since they've generally tried to avoid getting close to us, but they might have a trap waiting. Well, worse comes to worse we can use some of our own secret features. We still haven't used the boosted Trans-Am or the extra arms.

Rolled 8, 20, 7 = 35 (3d20)

>>35297369
You activate Trans Am without warning or fanfare. Knowing the Renatos, they were probably going to use the EXAM to heighten their GM Sniper's reaction time, and the last thing you needed was a sniper with heightened reflexes. You hope that your increased speed will at least offset that advantage as you speed in, beam saber drawn.

You quickly use your Ball Recall to summon your Defender Ball, using it as a shield its I-Field and Planet Defensors absorb the hits. However, the GM Sniper doesn't hit the planet defensor field, but all of the individual shield projectors, completely destroying the Defender's first layer of defense. The I-Field likewise begins to fail as the strain is too much. However, you manage to close some distance between yourself and the GM Sniper.

You speed in, beam saber drawn and ready to strike. However, the GM Sniper is fast. Very fast. One of its arms shoots out and snags your beam saber arm by the wrist, preventing it from moving, while its other arm grabs your shield arm, preventing that one from being able to move, too. Then, its head vulcans start opening up, chipping away at your armor. However, you remember your secondary arms, and activate those. Your two racks flip over your Jester's shoulders and slam into each side of the GM Sniper's head, crushing it inwards and jamming its head vulcans. Then, your right secondary arm snatches the beam saber out of your grappled arm and slashes downward, slicing the GM Sniper in half with a long diagonal cut through its torso.

BATTLE ENDED

The field then powers down, and you're overwhelmed by the cheering.

"HE'S DONE AGAIN! HE'S DONE IT AGAIN!" You hear the announcer roar. "JACK FOULKE MOVES ON TO THE GRAND FINALS!"

You turn to the other table, and see Charlotte's battle had just ended as well.

"AND FELLINI HAS BEEN DEFEATED AS WELL! IT'S GOING TO BE CHARLOTTE RAFALE AGAINST JACK FOULKE!"

Oh damn... so it was actually going to happen... you and Charlotte having your long awaited rematch in front of the whole goddamn world...

Good thing the Gundam Festival was tomorrow. You couldn't help but feel the pressure would have totally crushed you. See that you've also won, Charlotte smiles and waves at you.

You can only smile and wave back.

>And that's it for tonight! Next thread will be Tuesday. Don't forget Cyberpunk Idols on Saturday and PJ Witches on Sunday!

I'm glad we got a chance to use the secondary arms. This was a good fight. So I'm guessing we'll have the Gundam Festival as Thursday's thread and the final match next Friday, then?
>>
>>35297616
Holly is best girl, Those arms are amazing!

Also, Char's Gunpla has Destroyer mode?
>>

Imouto needs a reward for all the work she's done for us.

>>
>>35297648
What's the Gundam Festival again?

Will we ever have a chance to fight, Mao, Fellini or Ral?
>>
>>35297678
The Gundam Festival is exactly what it sounds like.

And probably not. Can't have everything in life, you know?
>>
>>35297678
The gundam festival is a bring convention where fans of gundams come to enjoy before the final begins, during the festival of the show random people did get to fight tournament fighters.
>>
>>35297690
I'll just imagine that we fought them sometime between the end of the tournament and the epilogue.
>>
>>35297690
I curse the People not wanting to fight Fellini during the Prelims when it was offered to u multple times but nobody wanted to because they wanted to see Char fight.
>>
I'm guessing no time for the Ball Armour upgrade?
>>
>>35297696
It's also where all the dead of Gundam are revived so that they might find happiness in another universe. Cameos appear throughout the series, but the Gundam festival seemed to only have dead people.
>>
>>35297678
SoL thread, probably. Aw yeah, there's still a chance for Mac, Karen, and Amy to pull off a Domon, Milliardo, and Puru segment.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=JNmIl8DtJ30

Also, there might be a slim chance of interacting with characters from the rest of the Gundam franchises that died and went to this Gundam valhalla.
>>
>>35297731
I hope next thread won't be a Waifu war.

I like Lucina and Char do I rather avoid the whole spam voting on who to spend time with.
>>
>>35297748
I dunno I think we have shown the most interest in Charlotte this quest so we might be ending up with her not to mention she is our rival. Course that always could change during the coming threads.
>>
>>35297821
I thought it was between Lucina and Char mostly?

I just hope it will end like the amusement park ride thing from a couple of threads ago.

Or maybe keep it up in the air.
>>
>naked newtype reaction with Char on the final match
>>
>>35297748
Don't remind me. I'd rather have the next thread pre-autosage be filled with screen time from characters who had very few of those. Maybe watching a short 3v3 battle from the sidelines that'll be instrumental in figuring out Plavsky manipulation.
Heck, toss in Mao, Fellini and Ral as participants while we're at it.
>>
>>35297871
Merc, Jake, and Amy

Vs

Fellini, Mao, and Ral?
>>
>>35297905
Yeah, that'd be for the best. Amy is also our resident Plavsky expert, so getting into the thick of it with the pros would gives her, and us by extension, some insight in gunpla and plavsky stuff.
>>
>>35297929
Also I want to see Mac since we never used his Falcon
