Everything happens so quickly.

A beep, anything but loud by anyone's reckoning, blares out.
To your sleeping mind, it must've been like a gunshot.

Your reactions were rapid- eyes open and scanning the room before time itself finished screeching to a halt, the compact .40 S&W pistol you've taken to sleeping with leveled, following your eyes, a red dot marking where its one-eyed gaze lies.

It takes a few moments of paranoid observation before you recognize where you are.

It's your room.

Yu-chan's sleeping form, tiny and largely undisturbed by your quick reaction, is curled up beside you. You smile a little at that.

She's not even feverish, now.
Just...
Well, she's still frail- that's not really something that changes, as you understand it- but at least she's not practically bed-ridden anymore.

You heave a heavy sigh and re-engage the safety on your gun before slipping it back into its hiding spot.

You're a little embarrassed, now.
You always get the strangest metaphors in your head when you do this.

At least nobody can see it- not even a mind-reader can hear your thoughts when you step outside the flow of time, after all.
>>
You reach over and grab your phone, noticing its illuminated screen, and decipher the message on the display.

>[JULY 26, 4:38 AM]
>[MESSAGE RECIEVED]
>[FROM: FATE]
>[SUBJ: MEETING 2DAY @ 5:30]

Time resumes, and the little green light pulsates- alerting you that you've unchecked messages.

You almost think a sarcastic 'thanks, phone, I hadn't noticed' sort of thought, but you stop when it occurs to you that it's not really fair to criticize such a feature simply because you happen to have time-manipulation powers.

You heave another (somewhat heavier) sigh when you realize that Fate probably means '5:30AM'.

Still, you should attend. It's been awhile since the gang's gathered properly (the hospital really doesn't count!), after all.

You definitely need to let Yutaka know, though- one way or another. You don't want to give the poor thing a heart attack, after all, and the thought of worrying her unnecessarily makes you rather sick to your stomach.

You're not certain if waking her up and telling her where you're going is the nicest or the cruelest thing to do- leaving a note is always an option, but it doesn't quite sit right with you, somehow.

You yawn.

You really shouldn't be awake yet.

Maybe you could use your powers to catch some extra sleep?

After all, you've been practicing with... that 'friend' of yours.

Yeah... you've been practicing-
>-pulling others outside of the flow of time with you.
>-slowing, rather than completely stopping, time.
>-speeding up time for other objects with a touch.
>-pulling others outside of the flow of time whilst remaining within it yourself.

… Yeah.

You can bring others into timelessness alongside yourself, now.

There seems to be a limit to it, though- and it's different every time. Between two and six, apparently- for some reason, She always liked to refer to it as 'two-dee-three', but... you're not really sure what that actually means.

Still, though, you could use that now- pull yourself and Yutaka outside of time, set an alarm on your phone for... two or three hours... and just... sleep.

Maybe it'd be a good way to show Yutaka your powers?

You haven't really let her know what you're capable of yet...

What's the point of having time manipulation powers if you don't manipulate time?
Hint: THERE ISN'T ONE.

You set the alarm on your phone, slip it into the waistband of your pajama pants, and cuddle Yu-chan like she's never been cuddled before.

She's so warm, so soft, so delicate...

Time itself seems to appreciate the moment, and it gently glides to a halt, rather than the usual transition- a jarring, screeching, tooth-and-claw fight for dominance, where you subdue it and force it to a standstill.

And, like that, with time irrelevant and your most prized person in the world in your arms, you slowly drift off to sleep.

Dengeki has been hyping a huge Kamachi announcement for almost a year, everyone figured it was the third season of Index, last night there was a huge party/festival thing in Japan commemorating the 10th anniversary of Index, a bunch of Index officials were there...and they announced Heavy Object, one of Kamachi's other series is getting adapted. No Season 3.

When does the flow of time cooperate and when does it fight? Is there a pattern?

>mfw you actually got the most relevant result
>"NO FUN ALLOWED, ESPER"

In the past, time has felt harsher and less 'cooperative' during particularly intense, shady, or otherwise... not-so-pleasant situations.
If you didn't know better, you'd say that time itself is either sentient, or that it somehow... behaves differently... in different sets of circumstances.

But... that's ridiculous.
... right?

Time is just progression, in the same way that space is just dimensions!
>>
You are Fate, your arms are putting off a light show that'd make Disney World feel inadequate, it's 5:45 AM, and only Minami-chan showed up at the hideout.

Oh, and your psychotic 'mother' contacted you, told you that the project was shifting focus, asked if you knew 'that red-head fire chick' (she also seemed to be wondering if the you and Akari were related, for some reason), and if you 'also maybe might be interested in prototyping some new ocular augmentations'.

So god forgive you if you're a bit on-edge.

Mokarin moves to take your hands into hers, and the charge you've built up arcs to her as she does so, miniature lightning bolts with miniature thunderclaps.

Not that that bothers her in the slightest.

In fact, you'd say Mokarin's pretty much the most difficult person to bother in the history of people-who-aren't-bothered-by-much. She doesn't seem to be aware that Kyuubey has taken to perching atop her head, either- though, now that you consider it, why would she?

[If you are concerned about the well-being or tardiness of your subordinates,] the space-cat-thing offers, [it may be prudent to consider scheduling your gatherings sometime between 9 AM and 9PM- during this time period, all of your subordinates are awake-simultaneously- eighty-eight-point-nine-three percent of the time.]

Minami nods. “Anytime before sunrise is... a little too early to be scheduling meetings, boss. Especially if you don't give notice at least a day or so beforehand.”

>Sigh. They're right. Tell Minami to go home to her loli.

You sigh, perhaps a little more indignantly than you'd like to admit, and tell the mint-green-haired pile of toothpicks that is Minami-chan to go home to her loli.

She nods and turns to leave, and, when you call out to tell her that the meeting's at five-thirty this evening, she half-turns, nods, and leaves.

You send out a text message to the same effect, and, while you're at it, you send an explanation to Mato-chan (she's the one to contact to get in touch with Akari-chan, it seems, as the pyro herself tends to turn plastic items into slag with rather alarming frequency), managing to keep it within seven texts.

Stupid goddamn character limits.

Once that's done, you plop down into your BOSS CHAIR, which is exactly like the other chairs (with the exceptions being that it's both taller AND cooler-looking), and begin to ponder.

What is it that you want?

Justice?

No, too...

Too righteous... too humane.

You want... you want her to suffer.

You want...

Ah, of course!

You utter the word without meaning to- it seems to cross your mind and your lips at the same moment.

“Revenge.”

Kyuubey and Mokarin both tilt their heads at this, at nearly the same time, and in opposite directions, such that Kyuubey's center of gravity remained in a position where he wouldn't be dislodged from his perch atop her head.

Mokarin seems to be rather confused. “Why?”

Kyuubey... well, Kyuubey seems about like he usually does. Unfazed, maybe? [Understandable. I am unsure what it was that caused Precia Testarossa's change of heart, but the decision to do something else is hardly repentance.]

She will get to see what it's like to have bits of her hacked off and replaced by artificial parts made by and belonging to someone else and let her suffer as I have suffered. Railgun anime has a lot more Saten and a lot less Touma. That's a spectacular improvement over the manga for me.

I stopped reading Index around the Magic Ice Fleet in Venice Volume.
I was forcing myself to read through much of series. Not just because of all the Stupid in the plot, but because Baka-Tsuki really needs someone who knows how to actually write things, not just translate.
>>
>>35331372
Yeah, but fucking Silent Party man. Also, Railgun manga has better characterization for Misaki and appearances by Gunha of all people.
>>
>>35331389
Volumes 7-11 (Agnese Arc to Ice Fleet Arc) are pretty much universally regarded as the shittiest thing Kamachi has ever written.

It's unfortunate, since S3 starts covering actually good stories like Battle Royale, English Civil War (which has possibly the best fight scenes of the series, just under Thor vs. Touma), and Acqua. It helps that at this point the series starts getting translated by just one skilled guy instead of a bunch of random people. Plus SS2, which introduces great characters like Misaka Tabigake, Gunha, Kumokawa...But ah well, we probably won't see season 3 for a few years, if ever.
>>
>>35331500
Well, thats at least a bit encouraging.
Is there anything in those volumes I absolutely nee to know or can I just skip them and go for the good stuff?
I might try reading them again.

The setting has so many cool ideas and interesting powers and details but wastes them on harem antics and the blandest protagonist ever. Much like ZnT.

It's qiests like this, that take the setting and make it interesting again, that make me want to read all that shit again.

“... yeah... yeah... okay, right... mhm...” You dutifully jot down a few notes here and there. Your mind wanders a bit, to the time before... last week... when life wasn't quite so strange.

A time when you were an idol, and you spent your time either with Akane-chan (both during idol stuff /and/ free-time, due to some amazing shenanigans on your part), or working on Mokarin's AI.

A time when friends of your little sister weren't asking you to put their mothers' brains into little-girl robot-bodies.

Not to mention 'probably-more-than-friends of your 'daughter'.'

“... Yeah, okay, I'm gonna give a definite 'no' on the behavioral-conditioning-electrodes, and I won't do any brain extractions or anything, either. I'm not a brain surgeon. You'll have to get the brain-case and neural-linkages yourself, got it? That's-” you pause, “oh, alright, you know what that means... okay. Right.”

It seems like an eternity later that you finally hang up.

You're Miku Tsuruya, and now you've got another thing to do.

… at least this one's interesting?
>>
Still, a robot-girl body isn't too difficult- Mokarin was mostly AI stuff and trying to iron out those flight problems (almost there!).

But you were really looking forward to building that AH-6 'Little Bird' you managed to acquire. And making some sort of weapon or something for Mato strikes you as a 'definitely very good' idea.

Both because it'd be awesome /and/ because Akane can supposedly fly a helicopter (you really wanna know where she learns all these things- your current theory is that it's probably something from a power she picked up somewhere).

Still, helicopter rides are basically magic carpet rides, right?
Just, uh, with more missiles and such.

… still, they didn't really have a specific date they wanted the body made by...

Well for one thing, the first 22 volumes are now kaput. Series got licensed, but BT managed to argue the case that technically New Testament and the side stories didn't count.

You can still find them floating around the internet though.

http://www.mediafire.com/raildexstuff

And you can skip around a fair bit honestly until you hit SS1 or so. You'll hit the occasional confusion, but besides that it's not really an issue, especially if you've watched the anime (though you'll miss occasional things, like the Level 6 experiment being fake and stuff like that).

Also volume 16's translation takes a nosedive, and then it's basically all good from there if that bothers you much. I had to skim it mostly, 16 got damn near unreadable at some points.

… Yeah. You've got other stuff you want to do.
You've got other stuff you probably /should/ do.

And then you've got your little sister, out there doing Judgment stuff, with only extremely-advanced powered-armor between her and...

What the hell does Judgment even deal with, anyways?

For all you know, she could be out there going toe-to-toe with a giant robot or something!

Maybe you're over-worrying, or doting, or something.

But that's your sister, dammit!

And you'll be god-damned if you let anything happen to her again. Sure, last time it was relatively minor- especially given the nature of her ability- but it might not be so minor the next time.

The question is... what do you make for her?

A shield? Some sort of big gun... cannon... thing? A sword or something? Maybe a big mace or... or something else that isn't quite as sharp-and-dangerous-and-not-simple-to-use as a sword? A ball-and-chain or a flail?

You look at your scribbled-down notes.

She's extremely strong AND wearing powered armor, so you can really make just about anything you can imagine...

But she's not really trained in the usage of anything too... fancy.

What'll you make?

>>
Okay... allow me to reveal my shame:
I forget the difference between a maul and a warhammer/get the two mixed up.

Additionally, from a very 'Miku' sort of standpoint, Mato has two hands.
And she's strong enough that a weapon requiring two hands is... very large.

Power-armored Big!Mato could probably toss cars.
>>
>>35332656
A warhammer with a gatling mode, therefore carrying the ammunition and the actual gu in thee head, would be very very heavy.
>>
>>35332656
I think a maul is more like an axe, but that's just off the top of my head. Also, big is actually very good in this case if we're trying to fit a machine gun in there.
>>
>>35332656
You know Vita's Hammer? That's a warhammer. Yes, even when it is small, actual warhammers were not steel bricks on sticks, they were made to be useful in smashing plate apart. Most of them also had beaks to pierce plate mail.

Just make a huge version of one.
>>
>>35332656
Where would she carry the thing? Does MIku has access to that Nanoha tech that compresses poleweapons into small pendants?
>>
>>35332656
A warhammer is a type of maul. A maul can refer to any hammer with a large head.

And go crazy with the strength, it doesn't matter. Hell, pretty sure I remember reading that even non-combat AC powered armors can toss around cars. The absolute weakest ones can accurately fire a fucking smoothbore cannon while riding a motorcycle near the speed of sound. AC tech don't give a shit.
>>
>>35332656
>>35332717
Also, add an optional jet engine attachment to it. Just for the lulz.
>>
>>35332656
A warhammer is a specific kind of maul, a maul is any kind of blunt weapon, while a warhammer is one with a vertical head, it had usually a beak for piercing but it differed from model to model how that actually looked like.
>>
>>35332756
I dunno, at that point it's basically just Graf Eisen and I think we should try to be a bit more creative about it.
>>
>>35332811
Just add a beak to it instead of a second hammer head.
Also, I don't remember Graf Eisen having a Gatling Gun mode.
>>
>>35332700
...
That's also really, really pointless.
Aiming would be nigh-impossible, and why shoot something when you've a gigantic hammer? It's far easier to deal absurdly high amounts of damage in melee than at range- ranged combat is simply more commonplace because it's adequate to kill and keeps soldiers and what-have-you safer.

>>35332729
Perhaps, but Mato's armor is rather... skimpy, I suppose. Most of her vitals are covered by skin and sub-dermal armor- which isn't very much at all.

...

Anyways, it's clear that a hammer of some description is what is desired, and we can get more specific from there!

>>35332656
Wait, I just remembered something.
Anyone here ever read Shinji and Warhammer 40k?
In one of the later chapters, Asuka had this huge-ass hammer with what was pretty much Alt Eisen's Revolver Stake on the head.

She used it (plus a lot of Hax AT Field bullshit) to crack the tectonic plates and make a volcano in the middle of Germany.

Anyone want something like that?

>>
>>35332899
Aiming is generally advised for hitting people at range.
And when your hammer's big enough to have a rotary machinegun in the head, and you're strong enough to wield it, the fact that there's multiple people to hit isn't much of a problem- one or ten people really aren't gonna stop the momentum of the swing at that point.
>>
>>35332925
>Shinji and Warhammer 40k
Wat.
>>
>>35332899
It kind of depends. As long as she doesn't fight other powered suits or come under fire from air support, it should be alright to use a close-range weapon. And those two are only likely if she fights AC for some reason.

After some deliberation, you decide on some sort of hammer... or something like that. A stick with a heavy thing on one end.

Now all you have to consider is the specifics- the length of the shaft, the size and shape of the head, and other stuff like that.

You do some 'advanced remembering' techniques that Akane-chan taught you (said techniques are top-secret and may or may not involve internet searches) and find that 'warhammer' is about the broadest term ever used in the history of everything ever.

It seems like anything long/big enough for Mato to need two hands to use it would be crazy-impractical, though- most of the time the only reason for making them like that was to whomp guys on horses, or knights (also known as dudes on horses with a lot more armor than those other guys), without needing to penetrate their armor.

Still, what if Mato needs to bonk people on horses?

But if you went with a one-handed sort of length, she could probably also have a shield. Or maybe a second hammer?

What would she need two hammers for?

Captain America uses a shield, right? And he's pretty cool. He also doesn't get shot or anything.

The sound of Mato not getting shot is a sound you'd be glad to hear more of, you think.

Then again, maybe you could make a collapsible pole or something? Maybe have two shorter shafts that can be combined into one SUPER-SHAFT?

If you did that, you could probably make a bunch of different kinds of heads to put on them, too.

You dismiss the thought of just making two shields.

Something tells you Mato wouldn't like that an awful lot, and the image of a turtle comes to mind, too.

>Just go with a long, two-handed sort of shaft. Because reasons.

You quickly decide on the pair of modular stic- err, shafts.

You'll machine 'em outta the GOOD STUFF™, too.

The same stuff you make all the things that need to not break ever for any reason at all out of!

And, of course, if you're going to have two shafts that screw together (or maybe lock together in a different way- you're undecided at the moment), then you might as well have at least a few different heads to attach to them, right?

You should probably keep them blunt, though... right?

Maybe an axe head would be alright? A couple of different sizes and shapes of hammer-heads are obviously necessary. Some more mace-like heads would also probably be prudent- you seem to remember that flanged maces were quite effective at killing... just about everything, really, and something more rounded and less... brutal... might be good for those people that didn't so much need to be killed and/or horribly maimed, but still needed a good bashing?

Your mind wanders to Mokarin's staff- and, now that your mind has mentioned it, Fate-chan's axe/staff/thing- maybe some sort of ranged option would be a good idea?

If not an energy weapon, then maybe an atlatl-type thing?
You grimace. She'd have to carry darts or something, then.

You un-grimace as it occurs to you that 'carrying darts' could be a good excuse to give her a shield without her questioning it overmuch.

Though, now that you think on it, she has her long-coat... and a rather large number of rocks, too.

Just how many pockets does that thing have?

Some sort of sling-staff thing, perhaps?

… maybe if you made a really cool-looking kite shield, she'd use that?

It could work, but it'd cut pretty deep into your GOOD STUFF™ supply- you'd probably only be able to make maybe four or five heads if you did that.

>Go for the shield. Safety is only first because there's not really anything that can come before that!

>Catastrophe head

Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and give the volcano-maker a firm 'NO'
And, as for the drill...

...

Why?

You'd either have to hold it in place while you did your drilling- and it wouldn't even be reasonable to make it big enough to drill through anything you couldn't just beat to death in the first place, by the way- or it'd have to spin EXTREMELY fast, in which case the torque and impact of being smashed into something would absolutely and completely devastate the motor (and probably the bit, too).

What's so great about drill-weapons, again?
I mean, I suppose I could see some sort of drill-headed spear could be potentially useful, especially if it was something purely mechanical and very simple- like a cord and a decent gear ratio and a good, hard pull to send the head spinning- but, even then, the brunt of the effectiveness would be from whoever was holding the thing thrusting it into people.

True, but they generally use their tech in actually logical ways. The basic principles AC uses runs on Rule of Cool, but the actual applications are fairly mundane and what someone might actually make if they had the necessary tech.

But yeah, given what we've done in this story we don't really need to concern ourselves too much with logic.

To simplify things, its literally the Kyosuke Nambu's Signature Weapon, the Revolver Stake, put inside a normal Hammer head.

The whole Volcano thing was mostly AT Hax (maybe with some warp fuckery) making it way stronger.
The whole sequence was a mishmash of references, starting with GIGA DRILL BREAKER and ending with GOLDION HAMMER.

I don't think going after one of Anti-Skill's powered suits with a hammer of all things is that great an idea.
>>
>>35335127
If it's a super-science'd-up future hammer in the hands of Big!Mato I bet it could do some serious damage, especially if we add a drill or a G-Impact Stake.
>>
>>35335190
Oh i'm sure it could wreck it if it hits, there's no reason it shouldn't with technobabble power, which is what the series runs on.

The problem is AC powered suits use, you know, guns. Really awesome guns. Can wreck nuclear shelters kind of guns. And the suits themselves are fast, have A.I support, and have awesome pilots. There's a reason we as a species stopped using hammers and started using guns.
>>
>>35335249
It's not like Mato would be doing this by herself, Akari and Mokarin would be doing ranged support and area denial while Mato closed in for the kill.
>>
>>35335310
Still doesn't really seem like the best move, but eh. I've got no problem with Rule of Cooling it, I like the hammer. Just saying how it is.

It's not like the powered suits would really be the biggest threat in that scenario anyways, but ah well, we're off topic.

With a sigh, you formally dispatch the notion of ever getting any more protection on Mato's person than you've already managed.

In that case, though, it's just a matter of making a bunch of heads that'll be effective in all sorts of different situations.

Naturally, you'll make a couple of hammer-heads. Maybe... four? Different shapes and sizes and what-not. After that, you'll have... Enough material to make another eight, assuming the same volume and complexity as the hammer-heads.

Of course, things tend to vary in complexity and size, so you should probably plan that out ahead of time.
Now... what might she need...?

A spear head, perhaps, or maybe just a spike or something similar? An axe head might be good.

Flanged-mace style head, spherical not-quite-so-lethal head...

Maybe a morning-star head? It'd take more material, but it'd also be wicked-deadly.

Then again, something smaller and more strategically-spiked would take less material, but would also be a bit more brutal than perhaps you'd like your little sister to be...

A cubic head would probably be pretty effective in general- kinda like a middle-ground between a hammer and a club- and wouldn't take THAT much extra material.

Maybe something paddle-shaped? That'd be a lot less likely to kill someone, but it'd also take up an absolutely offensive amount of material...

Making a head that'd work something like Mokarin's laser-stick of doom (though, admittedly, it'd probably be significantly less powerful- you'd not be bragging if you called Mokarin's weapon a masterpiece, as far as you're concerned) would only take a little more material, and making one that would be able to withstand melee- let alone be useful for it- would probably take a couple times as much.

I HOPE YOU LIKE MIDNIGHT GAME-BALANCING.
'CAUSE I GOT SOME FOR YA.
Here's hoping this ends well!

After 4 hammer-heads, you've 8 units of GOOD STUFF™ left, to do with as you please.
So... whaddya want?

>Spear/spiked head- .25 units
>Axe head- .75, 1, or 1.5 units, depending on size/shape (Smallish, 'Normal', and 'Holy Shit', respectively)
>Round non-murder head- .75 units
>Flanged head- 1.25 units
>Morningstar head- 2 units
>Cubic head- 1.75 units
>Paddle- 3.5 units
>Scary Murderspike head- 1.5 units and a lifetime of nightmares and flashbacks and PTSD
>Sissy Las-head- 1.25 units
>Sturdy Las-head- 2 units
>Super Las-head- 3.5 units
>Mr. Potatohead head- PRICELESS

Maybe this kind of mace? Except, you know, smaller.

I believe that's 8 and it gives us a decent amount of variety to work with.

>two drawings of it
>One flanged, the other smooth
>thicker nearer the handle, like a tourney lance (those are designed to break, by the way, so as to reduce casualties)

It doesn't matter if your weapon looks 'cool' if it's also impractical and largely pointless.
In fact, I'd say ineffectiveness is rather uncool.
Or am I the only one who thinks this way?

It's way too late to think and this seems decent, so I'll go with it.
>>
>>35335627
It's a magic mace, so I imagine the durability of it isn't really contingent on the design. Plus when you get to Acqua's kind of strength, magic can really be the only thing keeping it together at that point with the force he puts behind it.

Anyways, I was talking more about the general design of the head and shaft than anything else. The rather large head in particular.
>>
>>35335625
>>35335657
Yeah, i'll go with this, not enough shits to give at the moment. The round head and morningstar head seem useful.

>One HOLY SHIT Axe-head

>One POKEY-head
>One SPHERE-head
>One MORNINGSTAR-head

Yeah, that's probably eight or something.

Okay, writing!
I think this'll be our last post for the day.

You eventually settle on a combination- one big-ass axe-head, one spear-head, a spherical head, a morningstar head, and the best energy-weapon you can build in such a way that it'll stand up to (and even do well in) melee combat... and not suck at the whole energy-weapon thing.

With that decided, you set about drawing up diagrams and schematics (i.e.- rough sketches and scribbles), gathering your materials, preparing the stuff and the things, going to the little idol's room, ordering takeout, putting on pants, and all sorts of other good stuff.

By the time you're ready to get started, it's almost 8 AM.

You decide to put 'build robots to do stuff for me' on the list, right above 'remember to wear pants' and just below 'try to get Mato to put a shirt or something on'.

You don't notice the correlation between those things, either.

One double-take later, you have a classic, 'oh, I guess we really /are/ related' moment.
A brief moment of contemplation on the nature of genetics later, and you make to get down to business.

You're really busy, these days.

… In fact, your recent hectic-ness began just after you and Akane-

… pfff- there's no way that's relevant!

You add 'find four-leaf clover' to the list, just in case.

Aaaaaaaaaaand that's all, folks!

Naturally, when I said, 'there'll be giant robots next thread' we ended up not getting there.
Because tempting fate's never a good idea.

HERE- BASK IN THE GLORY OF THE PORTAL TO THE LAND OF ASKING, ALSO KNOWN AS ask.fm/EsperQuestQM

Oh, an' make sure an' go ta them there archives http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Raildex an' vote 'em up, ya hear?

Thanks for playing, and goodnight!

Feel free to ask questions here in the thread, too, but I can't guarantee I'll be up much longer!

Hey, you know how the saying goes
'The pot doesn't fall far from the kettle,' and 'don't eat black apples that have fallen from trees'
