Slowly, you crawl back up.

Your head feels like someone just cracked it open with an axe and stuffed it full of dirt and stones and dry leaves. You prop yourself up against a rough metallic wall, alone in the dark bowels of the Titan.

You start to feel like vomiting. You probably would, if you weren't on an empty stomach right now.

You realize you lost all sense of time. Your instinct tells you that outside, on the surface, it must be late afternoon, but a full day night have passed, or even more, for all you know. It wouldn't surprise you.

With a deep sigh, breathing slowly, you try and shake the dust and soot off you once more, and look around.

The Flame that Marched Against the Sea. A Directional Titan. One of the mightiest weapons of the First Age. An invincible fortress, bristling with weapons and wonders of magical technology.

Hidden right under Tianna. You feel your stomach knotting up again. So this is what the Abyssals want. Maybe even the Lintha know? why didn't Amata tell you anything?

Well, you know the answer to that question, at least.

And those visions... Yourself from another time? No, not yourself - you instantly throw that thought away. Just memories from someone else.

The worst thing is that all you've seen, all you know about that time comes from her point of view, so you cannot help but empathize with her, regardless of how little you want to.

>I don't want to think about it. Let's get back to the surface.
>I don't want to think about it. Let's check that main essence reactor... the heart of this thing.
>I don't want to think about it. There... there should be an enormous weapon on this fortress. I need to see it.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. She was in the western city of Tianna as a guest of queen Amata, an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and the Realm is probably planning to get rid of you.
But things are also looking up. You have gathered a lot of allies and friends, have a powerful Manse under construction, and are unifying Tianna in a great nation under your overwhelming charisma.
You just discovered the reason everyone seems to be so interested in Tianna: an enormous magical fortress lies buried underground, a relic of the First Age with enough firepower to destroy anything...

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Solar%20Quest

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

You trace hesitant steps along the dark corridor, towards the pulsating heart of this enormous machine once more.

It's a vast, circular room, or better: cylindrical. The roof is so tall that it gets lost in the darkness above you, the vague, weak blinking lights lining the walls merging with one another as the distance increases.

The room is built around a machine, a pillar going through the entire room from roof to pavement. It looks delicate, complex, and powerful. Stairs and ladders and ramps crawl all the way up and down, making every corner of the pillar accessible for operators and crewmen to tend to it. The thick layer of dust over everything remonds you that they're all long gone.

The pillar is alive. You can feel it channelling a flow of power through its tubes, pipes, wires, circuits, like an enormous heart pumping blood. A weak buzzing noise fills the air, the sign of some machinery still functioning after all this time.

You're not sure how, but you realize that this thing can still fly.

It will need repairs, a crew, someone who knows what he's doing. But it can take off. It's old and most systems seem shut down or deactivated, but structural damage is minimal. at least, from what you can see.

You remember some things. Procedures. Commands. Data.

The fortress should have a guardian god. A spirit of some kind. Who knows if he's still alive, or sane.

You glance at the knobs and levers and wires covering the walls. Everything is still all set up to be...

(cont.)
>>
A panel has been removed. A long time ago. It's still lying there, open. Inside, you see a pipe glowing a right blue. The main essence valve.

The entire machine siphons ambient Essence and pushes it through an array of conduits going all over the ship, but that's from where everything starts. It's the aorta, so to speak.

There's a lot of smaller wires and pipes and knobs and buttons there, but you focus on what you remember. the most important things.

A red wire, thick as your index finger, is plugged in a socket in the valve. Next to it, a black flip-switch is locked by a mechanical safety. Both have labels in Old Realm you can't translate, but you know what they will do.

That wire is a feedback cycle that lets the valve power itself. You unplug it, the valve stops, Essence starts building up inside the reactor. All other safety mechanisms have already been turned off. In about one hour, the reactor overloads and explodes. You have no idea of how big a crater it would make, but you guess it would be pretty big.

The switch is an emergency discharge system. You undo the safety, flip it, all the Essence gets vented out harmlessly. The reactor powers down completely With the way things are here, it would take months, maybe years for anyone to power it back up to nominal levels.

Your hands hover on the glowing essence pump...

>Leave everything like this.
>Put all safeties back on, close the panel and bolt it back shut the way it was originally.
>Unplug the feedback cycle, start Essence buildup.
>Flip the switch, vent all the Essence from the reactor.

Your hands don't hesitate. Slowly but deliberately, you flip all the multiple redundant safety mechanisms back on.

You give one last look at the seemingly innocuous red wire, shivering at the thought that something so small could obliterate Tianna and everyone on it, before screwing the panel back on and closing everything.

The entire procedure is fairly long, and more time passes. About three hours, you guess. You work slowly to be sure of what you're doing, and take your time for every action. Better safe than sorry.

It's a never-wracking experience, but in the end you feel satisfied by knowing that you have, in a way, started repairing at least some of the damage that was done so long ago.

What next?

>>
You being to wander the dark corridors of the ancient fortress, carried around by little scraps of memories surfacing.

Sometimes, a door, a turn or bend in the passage, a jutting pipe, details like those cause a strange feeling of familiarity, of recollection.

On the other hand, you're not 100% sure you WANT to remember too much.

Looking around, you notice that there are some tracks in the dust. Not too recent, since most of them have a smaller layer of dust on them already. But neither too old.

It's easy enough to figure out: Amata and Irene scoured the fortress and gathered up everything they could find for the defense of Tianna.

That explains why Tianna has so many complex, essence-discharge weapons compared to their regular artifacts. A sword or a suit of armor are easier to loot and use than a fixed-emblacement Concussive Essence Cannon bolted to the ground, so those got looted a long time ago. Perhaps even at the end of the First Age?

All that was left was the stuff that was harder to move, harder to use.

Mental + Twilight = 8 7 3 7 = 4 successes

You stop and think about it. No sense in just searching randomly. Irene probably scoured this place clean, as far as she could. Is there any place she couldn't reach that you might be able to?

If the Titan's god was awake, you could ask him. But you're not seeing anything that makes you think he would answer if you called him. Besides, he would've already showed up if he were awake.

But you remember there being a high-security weapon locker specifically for Celestial Exalted. For the use of both those assigned to the Titan, and any guests who wanted to use it.

(cont.)

Question on thread 46 order of events. Past Maka's Sidereal Vizier was setting things up to take her out, but was killed by a second unidentified Sidereal. Past Lunar mate was also present and got stuck with putting Past Maka down. Essence venting from the reactor then killed everyone onboard, sending it crashing into the sea/islands below. Is that accurate, or did I miss something?

Regarding the volcano, what actually is that vent melting the rock? A flight thruster? Essence bleed vent? Essence gathering thing?
>>
You have no idea if the security systems will recognize you as your past incanration or as a completely different person. You don't even know if they're active. But you remember there being traps and defensive systems, although the details refuse to come to your mind.

Besides, someone else might have already cleaned that up at the end of the First Age for all you know.

And in any case you're still pretty wounded and hardly in your best physical and mental shape.

You could make plans to come here later, when you're in better condition.
Or you could try now. Who knows what the future holds? You might not have another chance.

>I'll try now. Let's hope I'm lucky.

Your Lunar mate killed Sid #1.
All that Sid #2 did was bring him here. You assume he's the one who restarted the Essence pump and prevented the Titan from blowing up after your death.
You have no idea what killed everyone onboard, if anything. The essence vents are still intact, so there's no way venting essence would have hurt anyone. It's designed to be a safe procedure.
Your memories end, of course, when your previous incarnation died. You have no idea what happened afterwards.

it's not an easy decision. You're still wounded, after all. Who knows what you might find to bar your way.

But then, it's also true that this might be your only chance. You feel confident in the knowledge that you have your full complement of Essence, at least.

Walking down half.-remembered paths, you wander through the military section of the Titan. You go past barracks, armories, training rooms, briefing rooms. All empty and desolate.

Finally, you reach a door. A solid bronze door covered in Old Realm lettering, thick and sturdy, designed to open and slide sideways into the walls when the sensor above it confirms the identity of whoever stands in front of it.

And it's not opening, so you're either not recognized or the sensor is not working. Or did you also need to say a password? Or was the password for something else? Confused memories crowd your brain...

>Try and tamper with the sensor

Mental + Twilight = 7 7 10 8 = 5 successes

You close your eyes and try and remember the- no. This door wasn't password-activated, now you remember. The password was for something else...

You stand on your tiptoes and give a closer look at the sensor, a dull, black lens set in the wall. you clear dust off it with a finger, then, when that does nothing, start unscrewing the panel, delicately. Normally, this would sound an alarm, but it looks like the whole system is out of power, so nothing happens.

As the panel comes off, you come face to face with a mess of burnt cables, the result of a minor power surge. You start sorting them out. It takes you another good hour of trial-and-error, but you manage to reactivate the lens, and bolt the thing back together.

The black lens begins to glow with a dot of red light, and an artificial, ethereal voice says a few words in a complex-sounding, deep, musical language, rich in vowels and hissing, sharp sounds. that means nothing to you, but...

You try flaring your Anima in response, a golden glow radiating from your skin and sedding light in the dark corridor.

The voice says something else, this time a longer sentence. The door stays closed. It felt like a question...

What's the worse that could happen? "Maka." You answer.

Another line of speech from the voice, which repeats at you, in its own bizarre inflexion but recognizable to your ears, your own name. The door slides open.

You have no idea what you just did, but it apparently worked.

We might not have much in the Mental and Eclipse departments by Exalt standards, but by human standards we're still above average. How hard can picking up a second language be?

The room beyond the door is definitely an armory. Racks of swords and spears, elegant firewands and flamepieces line the walls, with thick metal shields hanging from their upper half. All these weapons are... they don't seem to be artifacts, but they're top of the line, excellent in both quality and appearance.

There's a vast variety, including the most bizarre combinations. Helmets forged to look like dragon heads, bladed cesti, fighting chains, daggers, curved composite longbows, slender and sharp-bladed longswords, ornate short spears, suits of armor crafted in all sort of styles and painted in all sort of colors.

Almost everything here seems to belong to a "set", and you see very few unique pieces. You get the feeling that this armory was for the elite mortal retainers of the Exalted,, and the artifacts lie further inside, past a second door.

However something catches your eye before you can move on, three large wooden crates with something stamped on them in red. They look like they've never been opened. From the sixe, you'd say it's more suits of armor.

You crack open a crate and find, densely packed by some foam-like material, a vull suot of armor, disassembled. It seems to consist of a thick, leather-like bodyglove meant to be worn, it seems, over bare skin or minimal clothing, on top of which several jointed metallic plates are connected and linked. The helmet's faceplate includes a set of five lenses on the outside and a black glass visor on the inside.

Soft plugs cover the ears and a mouthpiece the mouth and nose, apparently to let the user breathe through the armor, insulating him or her from the world outside entirely. You can only imagine this to be an artifact that, once activated, will still let the user see and hear through the machinery built in the helmet.

The armored plates are clearly metallic, but at the same time they feel oddly soft and cloth-like to the touch, and make almost no noise as you handle them, even if you try bashing them against the wall or on each other. This armor must be a saboteur's dream.

It's not your style, but this can be useful for someone. Anything in this room can, actually. Even if they're not magical weapons, it's still an amazing supply of normal but excellent ones.

Now then. You turn to the second door. THIS ONE needs a password.

Mental + Twilight = 8 2 2 9 = 2 successes

You stare at the door for a few minutes, your anima still shining.

"Maka." You try. Hey, it worked last time.

The door replies with a brief word that didn't sound very cheerful. It stays closed.

"...Swordfish?" You scratch your head.

It worked once, it might work again. You reach up and begin to unbolt the panel behind the door sensor...

Mental + Twilight = 5 2 4 4 = 0 successes

As soon as you get the first bolt loose, a harsh, shrill alarm sounds, followed by more incomprehensible words filled with a tone of urgency.

...Oh, right. You didn't trigger the alarm before because the power was out, but now that it's back on-

A second armored steel panel descends on top of the door you were trying to open and locks down, as a further reinforcement, as two panels on either side of the door slide open, revealing two small metallic turrets, each mounting what looks like a triple-barreled, revolving gun.

[Iron Kettle Body] [Essence 4/5]

You manage to react just barely in time to feel the very uncomfortable THUD THUD THUD of a double burst of 30-cm long steel nails slamming into you.

The tips flatten and bend against your skin instead of running you all the way through and stapling you to the far wall of the room, but it still hurts like hell and throws you off balance, causing you to fall down on the floor.

Evidently believing to have killed, or at least stopped, you, the two turrets keep their nail guns pointed at you, but cease fire. The alarm keeps sounding, and you also hear the noise of machinery coming from somewhere.

Think fast.

You try and think.

Think real hard. Think real good. How do you deactivate the security?

There were passwords. Known only to you and the security officers on board. They rotated daily.

What was the password on the last day? You don't remember. You - you don't think you ever needed to know that. This was stuff the guards took care of. You never worried about this locker. You had better things to do.

You feel rather silly. Karma has a weird way to come back and bite you in the ass, after all these years.

You're fairly sure you restored power only to this section. Now that the alarm is active, the ponly security measures active should be in the immediate vicinities. You try and remember if there's another route to the locker, but, of course, there isn't.

>Try and smash the turrets
>Activate Solar Hero Style
>>
You need to be fast. You gather your strength, focus, and infuse your limbs and muscles with Essence.

[Solar Hero Style] [Essence 3/5]

Physical + Dawn = 6 5 10 2 9 5 7 4 3 = 4 successes

Then, you strike. From your position lying down on the floor, you push yourself up with your arms and break into a rising heel kick against the closest nail gun.

[Ten Ox Meditation] [Essence 2/5]

The automated sentry doesn't have time to fire even one shot before your leg goes all the way through it.

The other sentry picks up immediately, and in the split-second between your first attack and the follow-up it scores seven hits on your chest, drawing a line towards your face. Those nails might not pierce your skin, but a hit on your throat, mouth, nose, eyes or ears could still break through...

You don't give it time: the eight hit bends flat against the palm of your hand as you reach up and grab the rotating barrels of the weapon, crushing them in a steel grip.

It's all over in a flash. Your anima burns incredibly bright, bathing the entire room in daylight. The turrets are dead.

Now, there's just the door left. It's completely locked down now... to make it through, you'd have to use ten Ox Meditation again.

And while that may be great for three of Tianna's mortal soldiers, that doesn't benefit us. This is an armory stocked for Celestial Exalted of the High First Age. I want to bring whatever is in there to Irene. Man-portable essence cannons are still vastly more powerful than modern age-of-sorrows siege weapons. We're literally talking about comparing phasers to slings and arrows. The stuff behind this door could make Tianna unassailable, or give Irene and Solar Twilight whose name I forget the raw materials to run cables down to the Titan's power core, granting infinite ammunition to the cannons they do have already.
>>
>>35385295
I really would not want that. Fixing it would make it the center-piece of the entire quest, considering how important this thing is. Even fixing just part of it will complelty change everything thanks to its enormous reality engines and the two full factory-cathedrals it contains.
>>
Everything hurts after all those nails, but still, you catch your breath, flex, stretch, and...

[Ten Ox Meditation] [Essence 1/5]

You slam your hands, palm-first, into the door. The metal bends slightly.

Physical + Night = 10 7 2 6 4 = 3 successes

You hit it. Harder. Harder. Harder. Hit after hit, the metal begins to heat up and bend, deformed by your blows.

As soon as it's bent enough for your fingers to manage to grab it, you start pulling. Pulling like crazy, tearing the five-centimetre thick slab of steel apart bit by bit.

Finally, you manage to rip off a good piece of it, which slams heavily on the floor with a metallic noise. Then it's time to work your way through the door proper.

And, after that, it's time for the steel slab on the OTHER side of the door.

[Essence: 0/5]

You work slowly and painfully, and need to pour a lot more Essence in it than you thought you'd need at first.

At the end, your hands and fingers are a bloody mess, even despite your Iron Kettle Body, and you just managed to carve a hole wide enough to crawl through when, finally, your Essence runs out. Your body feels heavy and your head uncomfortably light.

You make your way in. It's a much smaller room, narrow and claustrophobic. It feels safe, in a weird, overly paranoid sort of way. You instinctively recoil seeing the walls lined with more of those guns, and more, deadlier-looking varieties as well. It seems this section of the Titan didn't get power.

You look around, and begin brushind the dust off the room's surfaces. What you find here is amazing.

So? It can only help us in literally whatever we want to do.

>>
>>35385295
We don't. Amata does. She's the Oathkeeper here. It's her discretion. As much as we want to make this about us, this is one thing in which we must defer to her.

There are other oaths besides the Twilight oath. And we still don't know the specifics. What if it's a contract her family signed with the entire celestial court to keep the titan safe and unused? Reactivating it could trigger a war in which the heavens destroy Tianna. We may be a Solar, but in all things relating to the Titan, I say we let Amata call the shots.

Besides, didn't our little flashback teach us the dangers of ignoring responsibilities to our loved ones?
>>

For me the downside is narrative more than practical. It pretty much removes any other potential plot from the quest since nothing except the Titan matters from then on.
Once anyone figures out we have it, the quest will become soely about fending of elder sidereal death-squads led by Chejop Keja and the entire Realm coming down on us.
And I'm just not interested in that.

It's not something we can rush. Contrary to popular opinion, actions have consequences. As players, we have to NOT rush in to every situation assuming our plot-armor will protect us.
>>
>>35385371
>There are no downsides that outweigh the positives to getting this thing running.
Let me put it like this. The previous holder of our Exaltation was Essence 10, covered in a shitload of top-grade artifacts, and had backing equivalent or superior to most major nations. She was well informed, had the Titan fully operational from the get-go, and was generally in a position of strength and relative stability.
Her opponents dedicated a fraction of their total resources to her removal, as they had to deal with, among many other things, the other Titans.
She got fucking killed.

We are Essence 5, have a staggering ZERO artifacts of any kind, and have the partial backing of a very small nation with significant issues. We don't know that Sidereals exist, we don't have an operational Titan at our disposal, and we regularly find ourselves getting nearly killed by each of the myriad threats facing us day to day. Our position is precarious and our resources spread thin.
Our opponents have, SO FAR, dedicated only a fraction of their total resources to our removal, because frankly there are bigger fish to fry.
The Titan, now singular, isn't a fish. It's a beached whale, and if somebody starts pushing that motherfucker back towards the sea there are going to be a million fucking sharks all over it before you can say "Fate."

The flashback told us that some group called Sidereals exists, that they're responsible for killing off the Solars, and that they're probably Exalted.
It did NOT, however, convey things like "can punch the destiny out of you" or "operate the engine that causality runs on." Our knowledge is nebulous at the very best and we have no idea, in character, what they're capable of beyond "enough to end the First Age."

(no pictures for this stuff, even though I'd normally use them, because my PC is fucked along with my entire image folder, and i'm on another machine. sorry.)

It takes you a moment to run a good inventory of everything here, but it leaves you without breath.

The first item you find is an unrealistically large golden blade, symmetrical and double-edged. The vast flat of the blade carries an graceful abstract design etched with great skill and care. You instinctively recognize the metal. Orichalcum. The strongest metal in Creation. It feels like something that was... not quite "mass-produced", but almost. Some kind of backup weapon? It boggles your mind to think of this as a "backup weapon". The blade is large and long enough that you could almost comfortably hide behind it.

Mounted on a nearby rack, you find a set of jade weapons, no less well-crafted: a great white jade longsword, a curved bow made from a mix of wood and green jade, and a short red jade spear with a metal half and a long, broad blade.

Rolled up in a ball on the floor you find a cape made from a stiff fabric, that upon closer inspection is a mesh of tightly-packed black jade chainmail.

In a leather box covered with dust and soot, you find a flamepiece of unusual design, sporting a revolving chamber designed to house five shots. Definitely not a breech-loader, though you have no idea what kind of ammo it'd take. Certainly not just packed firedust like normal flamepieces. Your unvoiced question quickly answers itself: all five slota have already been filled with solid, cylindrical cartridges of a design you've never seen, and five more are in the box.

For a moment you wonder if this was the weapon of the Lunar you've seen in your memory, but you shake your head. No, that one was different. And it didn't shoot fire, so it wasn't a flamepiece.

Rolled up in a giant mote of dust, you find something that looks like a large ornament carved from the same kind of supernatural silver you remember Tia's daiklave being made of, feeling soft to the touch yet unyielding. It's forged in the shape of a naked, wild-looking goddess, and as you push a half-hidden button on its back, its true nature is revealed: a short but vicious blade erupts out of the figurine, so fast you could swear it materialized instantly.

The mosrt bizarre item, and the one that takes the most space, seems to be a jumble of compressed machinery sporting two large, wide, oversized wheels and a handlebar. By design, it looks like it was meant to be ridden, but the wheels are locked in place, the handle won't steer, and it's generally way too uncomfortable to sit on.

You suspect it might have some other use, or maybe it's missing some parts or needs to be reassembled.

...That's a lot of stuff. You could try and bring it up, bit by bit, but it's probably best to just get Amata to help you with this. You'll need to do multiple trips, minimum.

Motes determines how many charms you can use, your Essence score determines things like what charms you can learn and how high you Abilities and Attributes can be and plays a part in determining how many motes you have
>>
>>35385878
The Essence "Score" is your potential power-level. While motes are the energy "currency" which you expend using your Charms.
>>
>>35385885
Phat loot indeed.

I don't even have an image editor on this PC so no updated sheet.

Still, you have 13 XP. You know the costs for attributes and skills. As for charms:

[dawn]
Fists of Iron (1 Ess, Scene. +1 damage once per combat, per enemy)
Shockwave Fist Technique (Permanent, every other Unarmed attack can be carried out at a range of [Dawn] meters)
Summoning the Loyal Steel (Permanent. Can call any owned but unwielded weapon back to your hands within [dawn] meters. Can store up to [dawn] owned weapons in a pocket dimension)

[zenith]
Ox-Body Technique (Permanent. +1 HP)
Essence-Gathering Temper (Permanent. Every time Maka loses a health level, roll 1d10. On a success, she regains 1 Essence. On a 10, two.)
Body-Mending Meditation (Permanent. All wounds heal twice as fast.)
Bloodthirsty Sword-Dancer Spirit (Permanent. Can be activated anytime. Grants +1 success to attacks, stacks with other charms, but cannot retreat, fight defensively or fall back.)

[twilight]
Lore-Master's Gaze (Scenelong, 1 essence, +3 to Knowledge rolls)
Wise Artisan's Skill (Scenelong, 1 essence, +3 to Crafting rolls)

[night]
Shadow Arts (Scenelong, 1 essence, +3 to Stealth rolls)
Thunderbolt Attack Prana (Permanent, +1 damage to your first attack in a fight if you charge, run or leap into battle)

[eclipse]
Moment of Clarity (Scenelong, 1 essence, can understand any language written or spoken or anything meant to convey meaning or be used as communication. Does not decrypt ciphers or anything specifically designed to be obscure or conceal meaning)
Sagacious Reading of Intent (1 Ess, you select a statement you either heard or read, and can discern the true reason that caused its author to utter or write it, and what he intends to gain from it.)

How much would we need for a second charm?
'Cause Lore-Master's Gaze sounds really useful, especially since we have low Twilight and Mental.

You remember Maka saying that she would have loved a weapon to go with her unarmed style. Maybe a pair of smashfists? But you also remember Tia doing a lengthy rant about how much Maka needed a pair of high-heeled thigh-high armor-plated combat boots. And drawing seveal pictures.

If artifact gauntlets get broken, we've got bigger problems than finding new weapons.

If punching is ineffecitve, punch harder or try kicking.

If an ally needs a weapon, you give it to them for attuning before combat breaks out since attuning takes 20 minutes.

Summoning the Loyal Steel is a great charm and a must buy for a Dawn Caste.

>So you both think that being able to magically make any weapon we have leap into our hands is useless?

Let me make this clear to you, alright? This does not give us weapon telekinesis. It does not let us start flinging swords around with our mind. It does exactly one thing, and that is make weapons that WE PERSONALLY OWN jump into OUR hands, when we don't personally own any weapons, and all of our combat charms explicitly specify that we must be either UNARMED or using an IMPROVISED weapon.

This charm and our combat charms cannot overlap in any way. We would only be able to summon weapons that we can't properly use.

Assuming we pass out the Jade weapons to our DBs according to Jade material then:
Samiel will get the Red Jade Spear
Zareen will get the Bow
Irene gets the Longsword
>>
>>35388049
I say we hand them over to Irene and let her try to reverse-engineer and mass-produce them. Give every soldier in Tianna a suit. Did you notice they had breathing devices? Our soldiers and marines could ambush the Lintha from below the waves.
>>
>>35388107
>I say we hand them over to Irene and let her try to reverse-engineer and mass-produce them. Give every soldier in Tianna a suit.
That would be super cool, I don't think we'll have enough time to do that though, our truce with the Abyssals last only a week and we spent the first day exploring the Titan
>>
>>35388107
You can't mass produce them without the jade to make them, and only people with essence can use artifacts to begin with. Outfitting the whole army isn't practical, there's a reason most of the Almaty was high quality non-artifact weapons.
>>
>>35388167

Armory
My phone's autocorrect is retarded
>>
>>35388167
Technically, they are composites of multiple magical materials, and can be used by non essence wielders, at a cost of some of their lifespan with the amount varying by armor type.
>>
>>35388167
If they were made with Jade at all. Remember, the armors were in the 'mortal retainer's weapons' section. They're not artifacts, except possibly part of the head piece. There's no obvious Jade in their construction at all. While it is outside of Tianna's current EXPERTISE to mass produce these suits, the material-costs (especially when one has a nearby friendly-fae-controlled-demense which can produce any mundane substance imaginable) is well within their budget. And likely will be even more feasible once the Lintha are dealt with.

>>
>>35388466
>ASHIGARU SKIRMISH ARMOR
> In appearance, the suit combines a helmet and a skintight bodysuit layered with light plates of magical alloys protecting the legs, arms and torso.
The picture is pretty bulky but the description sounds pretty light, especially if they are suppose to be scout suits
>>
>>35388507
The description of its sound-dampening and healmet systems is still throwing me. Those weren't Ashigaru-standard systems. They weren't even Yoroi or Tiger-Shark. They have to be custom-designed. Because the only armors I'm seeing that have all these features together are minimum Artifact 4 power armors and cannot be used by mortals, unless they have the armor-interface-implanted-amulets. Even then, High First Age? Nobody would hand an Artifact4 suit of powered armor to a mortal. Not even Half Castes rated that level of resource investment.
>>
>>35388604
Could it be unarmored Gunzosha?
>>
>>35388604
It is most likely an upgraded Ashigaru variant. There were most certainly more varieties of power armor than those in the book. And honestly, we don't really have any examples of what Half Castes were normally equipped with. If Maka's first age incarnation was willing to spend the time to forge her only child's armor personally, or traded favors with her twilight, it could easily be a 4 or 5 dot artifact, though one admittedly optimized for a mortal.
>>
>>35388701
Also keep in mind they were made to guard a Directional Titan, you don't want to skimp on you security there.
>>
>>35388604
Actually, they DID hand out artifact 4 equipment to mortals routinely. A 1st age Gunzosha armor IS artifact 4. (Though mortal power armor is hideously overpriced)
>>
What about that moonsilver bike we found, what was that?
>>
>>35388641
A stripped down 'scout gunzosha'? Maybe. I'm not ruling it out.

>>35388701
True, it could be an advanced Ashigaru.

No matter what it is, we need to get it to the more technically minded Exalts. Let them work out the whats-and-hows of making more of it.

As for Half-Castes, the only record I know of of a Half Caste getting an Artifact from their parent was when a Solar invented an entire species of magical-monkey-things to babysit his half-caste son so he wouldn't be bothered with things like 'fatherhood'. Or those insane manikin-doll things with illusion powers to entertain them.

Much of the technology and magic of the First Age is lost to modern mag-technicians, sorcerers, and Exalts. We need to stop thinking of the disabled Titan as a store-house of things to use, and more like a coded library of things we can bring back to common usage for everyone.
>>
>>35388818

You have a point. Remember those guns that shot us? They fired basic iron nails. A lot of them, very VERY fast. Forget about what that can do to mortals for a second and think about what it would do to FAE. Had we had this tech earlier, taking out the swamp would have been a cake walk.

Right, but they didn't dedicate the whole book to halfcastes (that would be silly), so its probable that they did have some fairly nice armor. However, when it comes to upgrading our military we have to keep several things in mind:
1. We have an extremely limited supply of actual exalts, which will force us to rely heavily on elite mortals (Preferably tiger warriors with awakened essence)
2. We have a pet fae, which allows for several options that even the first age didn't take advantage of (airship hulls are MUCH cheaper and faster for Fae to make)

I agree. We have to look at what can be applied broadly to all our soldiers/followers/allies. While we will(must) take the field, what we REALLY need is a support structure of out-of-combat-exalts working to make sure that we have reliable backup and comfortable/safe civilians back home.
