The drive home is pleasant; the further you get from the city center the lighter traffic becomes, and the lighter traffic becomes the more you can drift off. As you turn your attention away from the road in front of you and instead to the world around you, you begin to notice more and more spirits hovering through the air, stalking through the woods which press claustrophobically against the sides of the road, and sitting stoically upon every highway overpass. The world seems alive with otherworldy entities ranging from fairly mundane figures resembling animals, plants, or even people to twisted, inconceivable monstrocities.

You feel an unfamiliar desire well up inside you as you drive further and further into the countryside. You want to subsume these spirits, tear them apart and eat their remains. Make their essence your own to do with as you please. However, the urge isn't nearly as overpowering as some of the others you've felt since binding the spirit you met in that strange bistro. You ignore it with relative ease as you coast towards home.

Eventually you coast to a stop in front of your stately, two story home. Stepping out of your car, it's much as you left it. You hear Sally barking, she's probably running laps around the backyard. That's what she usually does whenever you get home, that and jump all over you. Hopefully her injury isn't giving her any trouble, and if it is you hope Sally isn't pushing herself too hard. The last thing you'd want is for her to hurt herself all over again just because she's excited to see you.

A newspaper has been left at your door, as it is most days. Newspapers are a bit old fashioned, really. Seldom few remain in print. They're mostly considered a luxury item ordered primarily by old bastards unwilling to let go of the past, but you've always enjoyed being able to flip physical pages instead of just scrolling down a screen. You pluck the paper up absentmindedly before unlocking your door and slipping inside.

You have to be careful to avoid stepping on any glass as you make your way inside. You're honestly surprised neither you nor Sally have cut yourselves on a shard of glass. You toss the paper on the kitchen counter and then return to the foyer, pulling open a coat closet to reveal a giant vacuum cleaner, among other bits and bobs. You haul it off of its charging station and press down the power button, the machine roaring to life. It takes you only a moment to clear the tile floors of any hazardous refuse.

Once you're confident no dangers remain to either your or your dog's feat you make your way into the kitchen and haul open the sliding glass door. Sally comes bolting towards you, but slows before the doorway to bump her head against your thigh. Her tail is wagging fast enough that it shakes the door frame with every impact. It's nice to have someone who's always happy to see you when you get home.

You take a moment to scratch behind her ears and assess the bandages wrapped around her ribs. You're not sure how long they're supposed to stay there, you're not really intimately familiar with the treatment of a dog's broken rib. You're pretty sure they just reset the bone and discourage physical exertion, but who knows? It might be different for animals. Regardless, she seems to be doing fine, though she's definitely a bit less playful than usual.

Satisfied that your dog is okay, you fill her bowl with dry food and then make your way into the near-by den, collapsing onto an overstuffed couch and kicking off your dress shoes. You realize with some annoyance that you never actually got to eat anything, though oddly enough you're not just terribly hungry anymore...

You relax for several long moments, resting your eyes and absentmindedly running your fingers through your hair. Eventually you force yourself back to your feet, but you do so reluctantly to say the least. It's a weary march upstairs and into your bedroom, where you take a moment to change into gym shorts, a clean hoodie, and a pair of sneakers. Your suit and overcoat are laid out neatly on the bed, you'll need to run them into a dry cleaner's to get washed, the sea water from that boat trip has saturated the entire outfit.

Of course, you suppose it's not terribly pressing. After all, you were the only one in the office wearing a suit. Even your boss was dressed casually. Plus, you're going to be leaving for Antarctica in the near future. You're not even sure what you'd do with a suit in the Antarctic.

Banishing those thoughts from your mind you wander downstairs and into the kitchen to whip yourself up a light dinner. You're not hungry, but you know that logically you ought to be. You haven't eaten since breakfast. With that in mind you set to work preparing a simple omlette with fresh veggies, ham, and shredded cheese. It takes only a few minutes to cook and you manage to devour it even faster. Oddly enough, despite cleaning your plate you feel no more full.

Once you've eaten you push yourself up and make for the front door. Sally, who'd been sitting by your side while you ate, struggles up to her feet and follows you. Normally you'd be glad for the company on a walk through the woods, but in her injured state you doubt that would be wise. "Find your spot, Sal." You snap your fingers for emphasis, and she lowers her head as if she'd been chastened, wandering off towards her dog bed in the den.

(1/2)
>>
You slip outside and lock the door behind you, doing a few simple stretches to limber up. Once you feel sufficiently prepared, you make your way to the forest path and stare off into the darkened woods. The sun has already set, so it's almost pitch black beneath the forest cannopy. Your common sense tells you to just stick to the path, but somehow you doubt you'll find many spirits if you don't take any risk...

>Wander off into the woods at random, ignoring the trail completely.

You stare into the darkness of the wood for a few moments before turning sharply on your heels and marching back towards your home. You slip back inside, Sally trotting out to greet you when she hears the door open. You ignore her, instead snatching your car keys off of the kitchen counter and heading back outside to pop open the trunk of your convertible. Ferrying all of the various goods you bought over the course of the day is a simple task, getting it all to fit in your closet less so.

Eventually you manage to pack everything away ergonomically and, that done, you sit down on your bed with the Gewehr 98 sprawled across your lap, four stripper clips, and a large box of surpluss ammunition. You go through the motions of loading each clip with five rounds, and then loading the rifle magazine with five rounds as well. That done, you slide back the bolt to chamber the first round and then slam it home, before flipping on the safety.

You take a moment to affix the bayonet to the end of the rifle, it's as easy as sliding the ring of the bayonet onto a rod protruding beneath the end of the barrel. Last but not least, you clip on the leather strap that serves to make carrying the weapon easier, then sling the weapon over one shoulder. Stuffing the four stripper clips into your hoodie pockets you make for the front door again. You find yourself standing up straighter almost without realizing it. Somehow, carrying this rifle just feels right.

You pat Sally on the head briefly before slipping out the door again, locking it behind you. You pause to inspect your lawn, absentmindedly planning out how to dig a trench system that would afford you the best defense in the event of a French charge. You're seriously considering going back inside to retrieve a piece of paper to start sketching out pillboxes and trench tunnels when you realize what you're doing. With some mild concern you dismiss these thoughts and keep walking towards the forest.

As you stand once more at the precipice you're reminded of the Argonne Forest in north-eastern France. Now those, those woods were ancient. They'd seen the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. They'd been the site of ancient rituals practiced in honor of blood-drenched pagan gods. These woods... they simply don't have the same feel. The same forboding. You have nothing to fear from these woods.

You shake off the memory. You hadn't quite realized it, but you'd let yourself zone out. You spare a glance around the area before marching further up the trail, into the woods. After the first hundred feet or so, when all you can see is the forest around you and the trail in front of you, you start to wander a little wider. You zig-zag across the trail, passing from one side to the other and spending most of your time in the woods, picking your way through underbrush and over roots, than on the well trodden path. Still, you make a point of keeping in mind where the trail lies at all times.

You're perhaps a third of the way along the route when, on one of your delves off the trail, you notice a bobbing, flickering point of light. It seems to dance gracefully at the corner of your vision, but you're never quite able to focus on the point of light directly. After perhaps a minute of flitting about the light vanishes, only to reappear a moment later, further into the woods.

You find yourself transfixed by the motions of the spirit. It's twirling, twisting, graceful movements through the air. You notice yourself stepping towards it unwittingly, and halt yourself. You recall vague mention of ghost-lights which dwell in forest and bogs, lurring unwary travelers off the path and to their deaths. You spare the wisp one last glance and then tear your eyes away, turning to walk back towards the path.

Much to your confusion you find yourself facing an identical scene. The forest stretches out before you with no clear end in sight, a single mote of light dancing in the distance. You spare a glance over your shoulder to see the exact same scene behind you. The trees are even in the exact same position. It's... strange. Disorienting, to say the least.

Some subconscious compulsion tells you to start walking forward. It isn't like the Gluttony Spirit compelling you to tell it your true name. Rather, it's more like a gut feeling or some sort of instinct. Whatever the cause, it seems to pay off. You step through a strange barrier, warmth washing over you, and suddenly you find yourself standing on the trodden path. An illusion, a hallucination? You're not entirely sure.

Regardless you proceed down the path. Little else bothers you besides a deer, an actual, physical deer not some spiritual embodiment of one, running across the path in front of you. You stick to the path for the first few minutes after encountering the wisp but then resume your zig-zagging pattern across the trail.

You notice a handful of smaller spirits gathered in a clearing ahead of you. They're a motley bunch. You see a rabit the size of a dog with a magnificent set of antlers. The word jackalope springs to mind unbidden. You'd probably be a little worried, were it not currently distracted chewing through the head of a strange, vaguely insectoid, spirit with long, rending claws on its forelegs and nothing but smoke extending past its skeletal ribcage. The jackalope is wounded fairly severely, but not as badly as the other spirit.

Besides those two, you note a mosquito-like spirit perched on a tree branch and a spirit reminiscent in many ways of a snake coiled on top of a rock. You feel the strange compulsion to tear at the rabbit with bare hands and teeth, to consume its spirit as it currently consumes its opponent.

Besides, even if she is one, doesn't mean tohers are too, and she'd be a spirit born of a ghoet at most. Which, I'd argue, is a separate existence, and would be considered "alive" in its spirit from until it was destroyed.

Can someone tell me why they didn't want to fight the rabbit and subdue it like we did with the Buck?
>>
>>35397455
For one we don't have someone to hold it while we punch of binding it.
For two going full rip and tear isn't fighting, it's eating it. And I doubt eating it would bind it.
Also gluttony wants it, fuck gluttony
>>
>>35397496
>bindig a spirit and not even using it
Is this what we passed that DC25 for? To ignore him when it'd help us?
Remember, we have Gluttony and Buck with us now, the rabbit is injured, and the subduing doesn't require us to keep our hand in his stomach for 1.27 hours. We wouldn't need someone to hold it down.
Besides, our melee skills are better than our shooting skills.
Gluttony migt even give us claws and shit, besides(what I think is) teleportation.
>>
>>35397455
Because the fucker is an oversized rabbit. You ever try to chase a rabbit on foot? They move like white lightening
>>
>>35397574
Hahahah Gluttony wont go out of its way to help us, all it wants is freedom.
>>
>>35397638
It will never get freedom, anon, don't be paranoid. Even if he doesn't mean to help us, our goals are eligned right now.
>>35397631
It's a severely wounded rabbit that currently is in the middle of eating/killng something, who probably thinks we're just a regular human.
>>
>>35397638
All it wants is everything. It isn't a single entity as it is an embodiment of that desire. If our actions and intentions fall in step with that there is no reason it wouldn't help us.
>>
You raise your rifle and brace it against your shoulder, flicking the safety off and sliding your finger smoothly over the trigger. You're firing at almost point blank range, so sighting in the Jackalope is a simple task that you perform quickly. You find yourself squeezing the trigger almost unconsciously, and as the rifle kicks back into your shoulder you're already jerking back the rifle bolt to cycle to the next round.

The effect your gunshot has had on the jackalope and its opponent both is gruesome. Your shot struck the jackalope just below its shoulder blade, but as the creature rears back and roars its displeasure to the heavens you note that where the center of its chest used to be, where its heart ought to be, there is only a giant, gaping wound the size of your head. Its entire chest cavity has been blown open.

The bullet seems to have penetrated through the jackalope completely and struck the other spirit in the spine. While the damage isn't as severe, basically reducing the chitinous skeletal structure to fragments. Unfortunately, it seems to have already been dead. It didn't even flinch at the impact, and unlike the jackalope, which is currently suffering through its death throws on the forest floor, the other spirit remains still and lifeless.

The retort of the rifle echoes through the forest for miles, surely. You hear birds taking flight en masse, their wings pounding against the air. An animal crashes through the underbrush a short distance away, somewhere behind you. A deep, masculine voice laughs heartily, though you find no obvious source. From the corner of your eye you note the mosquito spirit takes flight, fleeing into the woods. Only the snake seems calm, staring at you with unsettlingly human eyes. It's curious.

The compulsion to eat the still-living body of the jackalope is overpowering. Something about it just strikes you as so... tantalizing. Hunger flares sharply in your gut, twisting through you like a knife. Your mouth waters. Your pupils dilate. Every fiber of your being seems to scream out that you must act now or miss this opportunity. You lower your rifle, taking a step forward unconsciously. You can't seem to take your eyes off of that gaping wound in its chest...

>ROOOOOLL 3d10-2! Your spirit binds are actively working against you. DC is 20

A series of sickening pops rings out through the clearing as your jaw unhinges, skin tearing as it stretches to impossibly wide proportions. You clamp down on the jackalope's side with newfound strength and violently jerk and twist your head until you manage to rip something off. You swallow the chunk of essense whole, feeling power surge through your limbs. Overcome by bloodlust, you lean in once more to sieze an arm betwixt your jaws, ripping it from its socket after some effort.
>Ability Discovered: Glutton's Gullet. Allows you to fully consume a spirit even if it's been wounded. Consuming spirits more generally beneficial.

When you next become fully conscious of yourself you're sitting in the clearing alone, back leaned against a tree. You feel pleasantly full, and stronger than you've ever felt. Nothing remains of the rabbit, though the corpse of the other spirit is spralwed out a short distance away. It's decomposing rapidly, almost melting into thin air right before your eyes. For the first time since you bound Gluttony to your will, your mind is completely absent of those strange urges and desires.

You reach a hand towards your chest, recalling the sharp sensation of the jackalope's horn piercing your flesh. You find a hole in your hoodie, but the flesh beneath is completely unmarred. You reach a hand up to feel along your cheeks and along your jawline, but you don't notice anything out of the ordinary. No scars, no dislocated bones. You seem to be in perfect physical condition.

(1/2)
>>
Warily, you stand to your feet. You take a moment to roll back the sleeve of your hoodie and expect the symbol of a man with antlers entwined in the coils of a snake and find that the brand glows with a shifting orange light. Like flickering flames. You're unfortunately unable to get a good look at the brand on your neck or on your forehead, but you can only hope they've been similarly strengthened. You feel more in control of your power now, though aren't any closer to figuring out how they work.

You focus on this feeling of wellbeing, strength, and general health. Much to your surprise, a ghostly image of the jackalope you just ate appears before you, the gaping wound in its chest gone. It's little more but shadow and wisp of white fure, its red eyes burning bright where its head would be. However, it bows its head to you in greeting. You feel the power roiling through you settle, and take a more distinct form just as the jackalope's image melts away into thin air.

You feel stronger than you were even in the prime of your life, after Navy bootcamp. You feel like you could run a marathon, swim the English Channel, win le Tour de France, or accomplish any number of other physical feats. It's a strange sensation, this sudden surge of health. You take a deep breath and just enjoy the sensation of cool, clean air rushing into your lungs. On a whim, you set off at a jog through the woods towards where you remember the trail residing.
>Ability Unlocked: Jackalope's Endurance. Every aspect of your physicality is enhanced; you're stronger, faster, and tougher.
>Receive a +1 bonus to all skills relying primarily on physical attributes

You come to a sudden stop just as you burst through the folliage and back onto the trail. You're not even the slightest bit winded, then again you suppose that wasn't a proper test of your newfound abilities. You start jogging along the trail, rifle craddled in hand, and then break into a sprint as the 'end' of the forrest comes into sight, the point where the trail meets paved road. You don't stop, instead turning down the road and making for home. It's a two mile distance, but it couldn't have taken you more than six minutes. Seven at most. You're barely breathing heavy as you gradually slow to a stop in front of your driveway, a goofy grin on your face. You're not even sure why this feels so fantastic.
(1/2)
>>
You sling the rifle over your shoulder as you make for the door, taking a moment to unlock it and slip inside before finally relaxing. That was a pretty productive night, over all. You got a sort of... semi-bind? You're not really sure. You finally feel full and contented. You figured out your rifle is absolutely devestating to spirits.

You crouch down to hug Sally as she comes trotting around the corner, gently petting her uninjured flank, and then turn to lock the door behind you. You give the first floor a quick once over, locking all the doors and windows as well as flipping off all the lights. Then you retreat upstairs to your room, dog in tow. Sally hops with surprising ease onto your bed, curling up at the foot of the king-sized monstrosity, while you take a moment to stash your rifle and ammunition in your closet.

You duck into the bathroom once that's done, flipping on the lights and getting a good look at yourself in the mirror. Gluttony's seal on your neck isn't raised like it was when you first got it, rather it seems to have integrated with your skin, resulting in a smooth surface. The knotwork that sprawls out across your chest and shoulders has also changed, becoming shaded in varying tones of reds, blues, and greens. It almost reminds you of something you might see in an illuminated manuscript or something.

The triskele nested within an ouroboros that adorns your forehead seems largely unchanged. Perhaps it's merely your imagination, but the ouroboros might have turned. The head seems to be in a different location than you remember.

Finally, the brand on your arm no longer glows with that shifting orange light. Rather, it's returned to the dull black ink that it resembled when you first got it after besting that stag. Curious. Perhaps after consuming a spirit you can only use its power to fuel one bond? Alternatively, what if the amount you can develop a bond with the essence of a spirit is entirely dependent on the power of the spirit in question?

You give yourself a quick once over, checking for any signs of new brands. However, you find none. If nothing else, it confirms your suspicion that you didn't actually bind the jackalope, merely incorporated one of its aspects into yourself, or something.

Satisfied with the state of your spiritual body art, you retreat to your bedroom and strip down to your boxers before plucking up your cell phone and collapsing onto your bed. You quickly dial in Claire's number, she picks up after a few rings.

“I was wondering when you'd call.” She sounds exhausted, miserable even. “I have had the worst day. Woke up vomiting, and I've been exhausted all day. Took a nap but it didn't help at all.” Well shit, that's not good. You worry momentarily that your wife might have been possessed by a spirit of pestilence and decay, or some similar monstrosity, but quickly remind yourselves those aren't very normal worries to have. She's probably just sick, or something. “I hope your day's been at least slightly better, Donny.”

You absentmindedly run your fingers through your hair while recounting a sanitized version of your first day at work. It's not like you can tell her about the various spirits you encountered or, alternatively, fought. You do mention your upcoming trip to Antarctica, which she seems less than eager about. She wishes you luck regardless. You also talk about some of your coworkers, and mention that you bought a few guns just in case things go poorly. Your assurance that you'll have a firearm on you at all times seems to calm her down, at least slightly.

>implying I give a shit that he's passed out by now
Also, looks like eating a spirit has a more immediate effect, but binding is way more beneficial in the long run.
We really should fuck around with Buck a bit, since we're going to the Antarctic.
Also, get some melee fighter spirits with claws or something, and learn to Step after experimenting with other shit but before leaving.
>>
>>35403099
He already wrote the post though.
>>
>>35403099
No actually.
Binding gives us more abilities(flame from buck/consumption from gluttony), while consuming gives us more power(raw strength, mental fortitude whatnot), and powers up our current bindings. Also attunes us more with them.
>>
>>35403156
FUCK, so we invited our wife back when we're still figuring out all this bullshit and are leaving to Antarctica.
Oh well, at least we have increased stamina now, and you know what that means.
>>35403163
I assume that this is what Soma meant by
>Experimentation will unlock new powers but that isn't the only way to unlock new powers. I've got a big reveal in mind.
Which means the same effect could've been achieved simply by experimentation, in which case binding spirits instead of eating them would be more beneficial at all times, if we know they aren't going to mind-control us. Gluttony better not fuck with our night time with our wife though, if the fucker messes with that I'm never voting to be gluttonous ever again.
>>
>>35403198
>Ability Discovered: Glutton's Gullet. Allows you to fully consume a spirit even if it's been wounded. Consuming spirits more generally beneficial.
>Consuming spirits more generally beneficial.
>more generally beneficial.
>more beneficial.

>in which case binding spirits instead of eating them would be more beneficial at all times

I'm going to take QMs word rather than yours.
>>
>>35403247
Do you have some kind of reading disability? That doesn't say eating spirits is more beneficial to experimentation, just that eating spirits is now more beneficial than it would have been by default.
>>
>>35403260
I have no words anon.
You're just too damn stupid.

We were never capable of consuming spirits before. Unless you mean binding, which was us beating them up and subsuming them. As indicated by buck.
What it means is that consuming them is more beneficial than binding them.
You really shouldn't tell others that they have a reading disability if you're just so damn dim. It's like a retard calling his parents retarded.
>>
>>35403295
>Allows you to fully consume a spirit even if it's been wounded.
This implies we could consume spirits before we got this ability.
>Consuming spirits more generally beneficial.
This implies that this ability makes consuming spirits more beneficial than it was before we got the ability.
Basically, binding spirits takes the power of a spirit and binds it to our will or whatever, we get more abilities this way and they can be improved by experimentation and consuming other spirits.
On the down side, the spirits have a slight effect on us.
Consuming spirits gives us a small aspect of their power, and powers up our other spirits.
>>
>>35403295
>We were never capable of consuming spirits before.
Yes, of course, because we've tried before and we have every single one of our current abilities listed on our character page.
The above is sarcasm anon, don't try to blame this on me, you're simply wrong about this. The description of Gullet doesn't imply what you're saying it does.
>>
>>35403354
I agree, your interpretation of Somas words make sense.
But I still have feeling that the other interpretation, mine, could be right.
It'd be nice if soma could clarify this for us, but sadly he's in dreamland.

>>
>>35403454
The other person acted impolite. I acted impolite back.
They acted polite, I acted polite.
It's how it works, no?
>>
>>35403461
I'm the "impolite" person you're talking about, and I'm not the one you called "polite".
It was a legitimate question, about your reading comprehension skills, anon. I suppose I did not consider that you could just be a non-native English speaker, but the certainty you talked with when responding to me, telling me I'm wrong, and quoting something entirely unrelated honestly made me think you might have some sort of problem, which would change my behavior in this conversation, as I would try to be less hostile.
Sorry if it offended you, I guess, but believe me that it was rooted in actual concern based on your actions.
You shouldn't be this offended because someone called out your wrongness on 4chan, anon.
>>
Long story short
we can
0. see and talk to spirits
1. make binding deals
2. subjugate (either through deal or violence)
3. consume

1 can result in a bad end (almost happened with gluttony), result in 2, in a permanent or temp ally, or whatever.

2. gives us a new power/active ability and a new tattoo.

3. boosts our existing powers (both those gotten from spirit and stuff inherent to being a human. ex stamina and running speed)

We should get a healthy balance of both 2 and 3.

Also, we keep on walking by countless minor animal spirits whom we see preying on each other and just ignoring them. we really SHOULD get off our ass and consume/bind a bunch of them (I am assuming binding multiple identical animals will merge them together to a more powerful whole individual or a pack). Those would serve to give us a variety of cantrips, as well as general power boost for taking on powerful creatures like the spider that resides at work.
>>
>>35403527
>2. gives us a new power/active ability and a new tattoo.
There is no evidence for this, Soma has said that what is in the character sheet for Buck is not even scratching the surface of our binding with him. As I've said before, experimentation can unlock and upgrade a whole bunch of shit, and binding a spirit probably gives us access all/most of its abilities/skills.
Eating spirits is probably just getting a single aspect, in addition to getting raw Essence(which seems to be quantifiable thing).
>>
>>35403527
There might be spiritual strain and side effects to spirits we bind/subjucate, so we shouldn't just bind any minor spirit we see.
Also, they can fight back.
>>
>>35403407
>dreamland
>After spending 50+ hours without sleep likely on speed.
After that Soma ain't gonna be dreaming about shit. He's going to be straight up in a coma for at least another 4 hours at this point.

By now I'm honestly worried that his heart has exploded.
>>
>>35403578
Most minor spirits can't do shit to us, and neither of ours have done so after binding them.
No, gluttonous urges don't count, that's probably a side effect of his powers.
>>
>>35403604
Forgot this part:
So I assume bindings have no possiblity for "fighting back" as it makes a spirit's will contractually bound to ours. Not that same as Pacts, which is what we have with Anastasia, Gluttony is probably a special case since he either willingly submitted to us to fuck us over, or our handshake was a pact which he fulfilled by becoming bound to us. What we did to Buck was different, we beat him and established superiority irl, probably something similar to how the rabbit bowed to us because we killed it, therefor we have the right to rule it by spirit law or something.
Rabit could've been a special case since it's animalistic, but still, we have no evidence either way for this in specific, but I think the rest of my post is pretty well supported by canon/askfm
>>
>>35403578
conversly, such strain might "train" our willpower, such that overtime we overcome it completely and get the benefit of being able to subjugate more powerful creatures without having our personality unduly modified.

Also, greed is an impressively high tier spirit. unlike your average mindless mosquito spirit.

also, I did say we need to get a healthy balance of consume and subjugate. if we find, through empirical evidence, that subjugating really has the limit you are suggesting, we can shift our balance to rely more heavily on consuming.

furthermore, i bet any such limit will be alleviated with consumption. as it improves the quality of our soul and making it able to handle subjugation with greater ease through raw power.

>>35403604
The way I view it, this isn't gluttony rebelling. we took his power as our own. these urges are merely a side effects of having such a power.
After all, feeling hunger is only natural when you have the ability to eat.
>>
>>35404005
Honestly, I think the urges were just a one time thing, like it was trying to get us to learn about his abilities, I mean, as soon as we used it, the urges stopped and the tattoo finally settled in.
>>
>>35404352
Also, when we got the flame buck, we instinctively used it's powers, I think the same thing is happening with the gluttony spirit where as soon as we got it we've felt the urge to use it's powers, thus I doubt it's due to it being a gluttony spirit, but just a general spirit binding thing.

This morning, I woke up at 2:40AM all of a sudden, checked /tg/, and saw that you began 40 minutes prior to my waking up.
I felt you in my dreams, Soma.
I then proceeded to study physics for 4 hours from then on, for my exam at 7:30AM.

Mate, you don't have to bump the thread every five minutes, this isn't /b/.
>>
you guys are pretty autistic
>>
So, let's plan some experiments.
I'd personally like to start with Burning Buck, assuming Jackalope gave us just the one skill.
>fireballs
>coating stuff in fire
>heat without fire
>light without fire
>see how big/much flame we can make
>see how concentrated we can make it, to increase heat and decrease affected area(more efficient) akin to blowtorch idea in BQ
>coat ourselves in flame
>range/control over fire that we didn't create
>any changes in respect to resistance/vulnerability to cold/ice/water
>see if we can't commune/summon/talk/etc. with Buck.
The last one will apply to Gluttony once we get to him too, of course.
>>
>>35406607
Adding more:
>fire blast with punch
>more concentrated fire blast from finger
>bowblack/shockwave/explosion from palm
>etc.
for actual fighting stuff, since we're better at that than with guns
>inb4 binding War will give us Firearms: 99

Hello.

File: Claire.jpg (39 KB, 793x1007)

39 KB JPG
You chat idly for several minutes. Apparently her mother has been having trouble getting up and down the stairs lately and her father's been thinking about hiring a live-in nurse. Her family, if you remember correctly, is fairly well-to-do. They've been living off of her great grandfathers fortune for generations now. He invented a cost efficient method of impregnating computer hard drives with salt molecules, thus increasing their storage capacity by leaps and bounds. Some have even said he's indirectly responsible for the invention of AGI, Artificial General Intelligence, a decade or so later and the Machine Uprising of 2129 by extension.

As conversation starts to peter out, her voice growing slurred and indistinct with exhaustion, you broach the subject you're really interested in. “So, when do you think you'll be coming home? Don't get me wrong, Sally's great company, but it gets awfully lonely in this house without you.” Ugh, that sounded way better in your head than it did out loud. Oh well.

She scoffs, presumably out of amusement rather than disgust or contempt. “Pfft, it better get lonely over there without me. Don't go seekin' solace in the arms of another or somethin' dumb like that.” She yawns, and you hear cloth ruffling on the other end of the line. “I think I'll have my dad drive me home tomorrow. I'm just not feeling well enough to stay mad at you, and plus I miss your cooking. My mom could burn cereal, swear to God.”

You sigh in relief. Thank God, or Lucifer, or whoever it would be most appropriate for you to thank at this point in your spiritual journey. Your marriage isn't ending, as you'd feared. “That sounds great, Clairesy. What time do you think you'll be getting back? I have some shopping I need to wrap up before my trip but I'd like to be here when you get home.”

(1/2)
>>
She responds after a moment's thought. “I'll probably get home sometime around... one-ish? I doubt I'll even wake up before noon.” Great, that gives you time to get your shopping done in the morning or in the afternoon after she gets back.

“Sounds great, see you then honey.”

There's a somewhat mischievous lilt to her voice when she responds. “Looking forward to it~” And on that note, she ends the call. You're left wondering whether or not you're going to get some or if she's genuinely just eager to get home.

You set your alarm for bright and early tomorrow morning and then crawl under your sheets. You have to be careful not to nudge Sally with your feet, but the bed is large enough that it isn't a huge concern. Your thoughts drift back to the spirit of Gluttony and its bistro, the pastries and confections made primarily of human parts. Gluttony is behind the counter, toiling away at something you can't quite see. A cake, maybe? You're not sure. The spirit doesn't acknowledge you, and only moments later the sweet, all-encompassing darkness of sleep wraps you in its warm embrace.

Just clarifying some stuff I'm seeing higher up in the thread. Gluttony does indeed only make consuming more beneficial than it would've been if you didn't have gluttony. Binding will always give you more oomph in the long run, but requires more development.

>>35408685

I love experimentation talk, and a lot of the theories further up were close to if not spot on. I won't say which ones.

He'd take something worth more for it, otherwise he wouldn't be Gluttony.

Human spirit interaction is a big thing, remember the mosquito things feeding off of people? Also they made it the hard way.
