You wake up feeling clear-headed and refreshed.

Brushing aside the window's curtains, you notice that you probably overslept: the sun is high in the sky, making it past noon. Of course, you already instinctively knew that. Ever since you Exalted, you've been able to guess the exact time of the day with perfect accuracy.

It's not a superpower that will save the world or vanquish demons and deathlords, but it's convenient.

As you stretch, you notice your wounds, cleaned and some of them bandaged tight by Millian, tingling with the feeling of lacerations healing and scarring. They still hurt a bit, though.

You spend a few seconds looking out of the window. The city of Tianna lies before you, stretching from the foot of the castle all the way to the distant docks, in a criss-cross of roads and streets, shops and carts and stalls, shingled and thatched roofs, filled with citizens attending their daily businesses and crafts and routines in a city that, frankly, is getting weirder by the day.

Three days, Amata said. You have only three days to get everything ready for the attack on Black Atoll, the Lintha fortress, before your truce with the Tyrant of the Doomsday Machine's Abyssals expires.

You don't even know its precise location, and only have a vague idea as to the extent of its defenses and naval firepower based on Admiral Rajan's experience. This is going to be rough.

Your mind slowly clicks. Yesterday you had called for a general meeting of all your allies to discuss on a general strategy. Tia, who was in the north with her new tribe, and Mikahil and Valeriana in the west, working at the creation of the manse and city of Pearl, or at least laying down the groundwork. They would be here in about ten hours...

How much did you sleep again?

That's about when a powerful body-slam explodes the door inwards, as a familiar green-haired lunar in a white dress blasts through and tackles you. "MAKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~"

Your reply is stifled by surprise and the air being hugged out of your lungs, as you both fall to the ground.

"IT WAS SO LONG AND HARD WITHOUT YOU!"

"D-don't word it like that." You manage to squeeze out a few words, planting a hand on Tia's face and trying to push your way out of her death-clinch. "...I'm happy to see you too, but- ow! ow! Time! Time!" You start slapping on her arms signalling her to release you. "My wounds! They're reopening!"

Tia slackens her hold, without letting you go. "...Oh, sorry." She mumbles. "But I'm here! And I need to do the lewd with you right away!"

You sigh, but can't help but smile at how straightforward she is about it. It's not like you wouldn't enjoy it, but...

"We only have three days for the whole Lintha business, Tia. We don't really..."

"Oh! Right!" She lets you go and snaps her fingers like she just remembered something. "I brought here a hundred of the Black Fangs' finest warriors as help. All fresh out of my training!"

That catches you a bit by surprise. "...You trained them?"

She grins. "Solars aren't the only ones with training charms, Maka." She sounds inordinately proud of having just impressed you.

For some reason you didn't expect Tia to do something like that, but you guess it means that, despite her initial doubts, she quickly learned how to handle being the chieftaness of an entire tribe. You wonder if Zaan and Talon helped.

She has a serious case of "PRAISE ME! PRAISE ME!" expression right now.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. She was in the western city of Tianna as a guest of queen Amata, an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and the Realm is probably planning to get rid of you.
But things are also looking up. You have gathered a lot of allies and friends, have a powerful Manse under construction, and are unifying Tianna in a great nation under your overwhelming charisma.
You just discovered the reason everyone seems to be so interested in Tianna: an enormous magical fortress lies buried underground, a relic of the First Age with enough firepower to destroy anything...

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Solar%20Quest

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

"You did a good job." You smile at hear, pleased. She's growing into a great, responsible leader, it seems, despite her... well, quirks.

You lean in and give the Lunar gentle pat on the head and a kiss on the lips, and she instantly collapses in a quivering mess, making weird noises.

"...Tia?" You lift an eyebrow.

"ghghlb." She replies.

She's always weird whenever you meet after staying away from each other a bit. You shrug and open the room's wardrobe, dressing for the day. She'll be back up in no time anyway.

A few minutes later, you and Tia, ready for the occasion, walk into Amata's conference room, an elegant marble room dominated by a central hexagonal oaken table, its surface irregular but smooth and polished by age. It's covered in books, maps, papers, wooden boxes, teacups and snacks, bottles and glasses of wine and liquors, a pitcher of water and a metal kettle radiating the pleasant aroma of coffee.

All around the table, probably one of the most interesting collections of colorful and powerful individuals the West has seen in recent memory: Apart for you and Tia, there's Amata, Samiel and Irene, the royal family. Mikahil and Valeriana, straight from your (future) city, Pearl. And Rajan Hazaakaa, Admiral of Tianna's navy (recently joined by yours).

"Good. Is this everyone?" Amata asks, knocking on the table to clear a bit of the chatter going back and forth. The tone of the meeting seems fairly informal. "Anyone we should call, whose presence is important?"

"Time is of the essence." You point out. There's general assent at the table.

"First of all, it's not directly relevant to the matter at hand, but..." Valeriana slides a large wooden crate across the table in your direction with a smile. "We managed to do this. Tia did the general design concept, I produced it. Dancing Smoke helped me out a bit, even though it was..." She hesitates. "I had to think outside of the box to convince her."

You're not sure what she means, but you sure as hell stop thinking about it when you open the crate and find yourself face to face with a pair of Orichalcum gauntlets and boots.

It's clear they are designed as weapons and not parts of armor: the plates are few and disjointed, and not designed to offer much protection. As a matter of fact, they don't seem like they should be able to fit together, or stay on the arm or leg without falling apart or slipping off, but they apparently do.

The striking points - tip of the fingers, knuckles, flat of the hand, elbow, knee, tip of the boot, heel, and so on, are, on the other side, heavy and reinforced.

The design is nothing but breath-takingly beautiful. It's abstracted, but designed around motifs reminding you of wings and sunbursts. The metal is polished to a mirror-like sheen, and radiates light and warmth.

They seem to be adjustable, to a degree, the plates sliding masterfully over one another. At maximum length, the gloves would reach up to just a bit below the shoulders, and the boots up to the top of the thigh.

(image just meant to give a very general idea, the actual thing looks quite different, but it's hard to find anything more accurate.)

"I... I'm speechless." You say, really at loss for words. "How..."

"We found bits and scraps of Orichalcum in the ground while digging." She informs you. "Most of this metal comes from a shattered Daiklave we found."

A moment of flashback passes over you. You see that blade, for a moment, being knocked out of your hands, broken, flying out of the Titan and into the raging seas...

Valeriana continues talking for a bit, but you come back to the here and now only when you notice Tia tapping on your shoulder. "Are you alright?"

"...I'm not alright." You whisper to her, unable to keep it hidden, but still not wanting Valeriana to take this the wrong way. She did something amazing.

She couldn't know about the memories. Worse, knowing now would make her feel bad for no reason.

"Is something-"
"Later, Tia." You grasp her hand and gently squeeze it to reassure her.

She nods.

Amata coughs and calls the meeting at order again.

"Alright. Let's cut to the chase. You all know why you're here and you all know what we're going to do. Admiral?"

The manic admiral Rajan stands up from his chair. "Yes, your highness!" He yells, before spreading a large-scale map of the sea and islands next to Tianna on the table. Everyone else leans closer, yourself included.

You never really appreciated it much, but you can tell that Tianna is fairly isolated, no pun intended, for being a part of the western archipelago. It's separated by long stretches of sea from the closest relevant island... relevant both in terms of size and of politics: there are closer islands, but they are all very small and not marked as nations or villages. You wonder if it means they're entirely uninhabited or, like Freeport, maybe just house some fishermen or a small dock for wayward, or not entirely honest, shipping.

Or maybe the map-maker just didn't know or care.

It's a nautical map, not a normal one: covered in extremely fine writing and crisscrossing lines, it's hard to read accurately for you, but that's the gist you get from it.

Rajan points to several small crosses penned in red ink. "These are all the locations where we had naval encounters with the Lintha in the past ten years. Of course, they might not be pinpoint accurate, but it's out best guess. The large cross is the Battle of the Wine Sea where..." He emits a long, sad, drawn-out sigh.

Probably, yeah. Without them, though, literally any god can just turn incorporeal if they start losing a fight and leave. And without god-killing charms, even if we beat them to 'death,' they'll just reform in their sanctum.

Basically, with god-hitting and god-killing charms, we're such a huge threat to the Storm Mothers that fucking with us simply isn't an option. Without them, our tits are more threatening to them than our orichalcum-clad fists.

At any rate, we should bring our Eclipse along. Eclipses' diplomatic immunity extends to their entire entourage. They render entire ships safe from spiritual reprisal.

"...Anyway. Making some educate guesses, we can imagine the Black Atoll to be somewhere inside this circle." And he draws one with a drafting compass, in a single, swift, practiced movement of the hand. "let's just make up some numbers and say I guess there's nine chances out of ten that it's in here."

You notice three small islands are within that circle, unmarked.

"Each of these atolls could be out target, or it could be one not on this map."

"How good is that map?" Samiel asks.

"Geographical Society of Inner Azure City. Good. It was made some twenty years ago. Old, so maybe not reliable for political borders, but at that time there was little Lintha presence here, so likely accurate for geography. The explorers had no reason to avoid or rush the job in this area at the time."

Amata scratches her chin thoughtfully. "So what happens if we gather our full naval strength and we hit those islands one by one?"

"We lose all our boats and crews, as well as our skins. Sure as balls."

"Why?" You get the feeling that she already knows, and it's just a rhetorical question.

"We'd be accepting open battle in their turf. They seriously outclass us in naval firepower. We can't let this come to a general engagement. We must play it smart." He slaps his hand on the circle.

>We need to avoid their fleet and bring the fight to the Atoll directly.

>We need to keep our fleet in reserve and find a way to deliver a first attack just with our Exalted to soften them first.

We forget the Black Atoll. We don't have
enough time to deal with them and the Abyssals. I propose a feint. We send our fleet out and make it seem like we are dealing with the Lintha. Then, when the Abyssals attack, we have the fleet return attack them in a pincer movement when they enter our waters and attack Tianna to claim their prize.

Not an option. There are too many things relying on getting the Lintha out of the way, not least of which being our treasury.
>>

The Abyssals know of the existence of the directional Titan and have the means to get it operational. The Lintha do not. The lintha are content to raid shipping. The Abyssals would burn Tianna to get what they want. The Abyssals are by far the greater threat.

You have an idea.

"Well, to effectively raid all the shipping in this area they need to have their forces spread out fairly thin, right?" You point out.

Rajan nods.

"What if we focus on taking them out one by one, bringing our full navy against each of their ships?" You wonder. "I'm no expert of naval warfare, but can that be done?"

He nods. "In theory yes, but if one of their ships gets away or manages to give the alarm, the rest of their fleet will rally and crush us."

"The Gloria can be very fast with good wind." Valeriana points out with a note of pride. "Faster than anything else."

"How fast?" The dragon-blooded asks back.

"It can make 17 knots."

He whistles. "That's amazing. But... with good wind."

She nods. "...Some of their ships are propelled by demons or other magics, right?"

Rajan nods. "There is a chance they might outrun us and alert the rest of the fleet. Besides, maybe they have spells or sorceries that can let them communicate or send messages to one another. Which would invalidate this plan." He turns back to you. "But if we manage to be fast enough, we could fight in numerical superiority for a while. Inevitably, though, it will turn into an all-out naval engagement."

"But by that point we'll have the upper hand?" You ask

"Maybe. Depends."

You tap your fingers on the table. "What about the Lintha flagship?"

"The monster? What about it?"

"What if we managed to take that one out first?"

"The rest of the fleet would probably break and disperse." He replies, sounding pretty sure.

"Because of the loss of their commander?"

"I don't know details, but there's a religious angle to this." He mumbles. "That demon-ship monstrosity is something like a guardian god to them. Knowing it dead would shatter their morale and confidence. They believe it to be invincible."

"You sound like you think they're right." You wonder.

He takes another long, deep breath. "It's not a "ship". It's a demon. It's a monstrous nightmare with insane powers. I don't want you, or anyone else, to take it lightly." He looks down at the map. "But I don't think it's invincible."

"Do you know of any weak point?"

"None. But then, the only time I faced it, the fight did not last long enough for me to see much... if you can call that a fight."

"...This time, there's a lot more of us." Amata cheers him up.

"So, the problem is intelligence." Mikahil poinst a finger at the map. "We need to find the flagship, avoid the rest of their fleet, and carry out a sudden strike with everything we've got, and hope we kill it before their reinforcements come. Is that the plan?"

Amata thinks about it for a second. "Wait, you're counting me too?"

"Well, aren't you going to come? You look like you need some action."

She scratches her head. "...I'm not much of an action type of person, but I guess we really must go all in on this one. I'll come."

"Will the Abyssals uphold the truce?" Irene asks the elephant-in-the-room question.

"I am reasonably sure they will." Amata replies.

"Reasonably?" He frowns back at her.

"You can't be 100% sure of anything." She grins. "But I'm confident enough to leave Tianna undefended for these three days. Not only we have a deal and hostages, but now that a second Deathlord seems interested in Tianna as well, the Abyssals of the Tyrant have every interest in the world to make themselves look honorable and trustworthy in our eyes."

"Why would they?"

"They don't want to be lumped together with this other deathlord. They want to keep a privileged contact with us. Keep the chance that we will agree to our demands peacefully intact.

"Will we?"

"Let's worry about one thing at a time." The queen cuts him short. "By the way: we're going to use our weapons cache to its full extent for this. Taking the gloves off, so to say. After this meeting everyone who hasn't already should pass by the armory."

Mumbles of surprises and nods of general assent follow.

"How are we going to find the flagship?" asks Valeriana.

"That is an excellent question." You reply.

"Well, Tia and Five Tails can fly and swim. They can scout without drawing attention." You say with a glance at your Lunar mate.

"Yes, but..." She glances at the map. "That's a pretty wide area. We might not make it in time, just the two of us. I could call Zaan, but Talon's in no condition to take the field right now. He still hasn't made a full recovery."

"How much sea can the three of you cover?"

"We've got three days, right? Taking two days off that for sailing time and the actual battle... in one day, we can cover about half of that circle, I think." She informs the table.

"What about using the Gloria? Is it fast enough to help as a scout?" You turn to Valeriana.

She's about to reply, but Mikahil intervenes: "I can make it do thirty knots."

You're not sure how much a "knot" is exactly, but you can guess by the astonished reaction of everyone else.

"Are you kidding?" Valeriana asks him. "The Gloria is fast, alright, but thirty-"

"Give me the rudder and let me handpick the crew and I can do thirty-one in a good wind."

"I was thinking that the Gloria would be our flagship." Irene mumbles.

Rajan shakes his head. "Mikahil's right, it operates best alone because of its high speed. Especially if he can boost it by that much. Damn showoff."

The Eclipse giggles.

"It can still be the flagship." Amata claps her hands to draw attention. "I'll be on the Gloria. As soon as we find the ship, I'll use Infallible Messenger to coordinate the rest of the fleet and the two scouting Lunars."

"I thought you didn't like to use Sorcery too much?" You ask.

"I don't, but this is not the time to be picky is it?" Is her retort. You nod.

"So once we have coordinates, our force forms up on the Gloria." It makes sense, you then think to yourself. "...What about asking some local sea god for information?"
>>
Amata makes a disappointed noise. "You can't trust gods on this one. Not now."

"I know you don't like the gods, but-" You start.

Rajan interrupts you. "No, she's right. The gods never side against the Lintha."

"Even with Exalted on the other side?" You ask back.

"Even then. Keep in mind that the Lintha have been using carrot and stick on the sea and wind gods for several centuries. They offer lavish sacrifices to those that comply with their wishes, and mete out horrible punishments on whoever steps out of line. This has been going on for too long to overturn it successfully now. We even risk that any spirit we inform of our plans will betray us to the Lintha."

"...They're that scared?"

The admiral nods.

"If we manage to score a large victory on the Lintha, everyone will see that they're not invincible. Several gods might start reconsidering. But only after we show to the West that the Lintha can be defeated in open naval battle." Amata points out. "Right now, no one will believe us. Even if we explain to the gods how powerful we are, we have zero victories against the Lintha right now, and the Lintha have a long past history of ruthlessly crushing everyone who stood against them."

>Then it's best to not involve them.

"Then let's not involve them. Let's not run unnecessary risks." You concede. "Tia, Five Tails and the Gloria will scout the area. If we're lucky we'll find the ship and engage it before we're out of time."

Again, Irene asks the question everyone thinks about. "What if we don't make it in time?"

Silence.

There was actually a plan that used Maka as a projectile. Maka currently has a super speed charm, a super jump charm, and a charm that makes her so light and well-balanced that she can walk on falling leaves. What's more, she had a Solar Hero charm that makes her punches freely send people flying like anime slapstick.

The plan is for Maka to take a running jump to the deck of an enemy ship, then send everyone flying overboard once punch at a time. Maka's combat build makes her an expert at fighting on ships, the tops of towers, and similar situations favoring acrobatics and environmental hazards.

You scratch your head. "I'll be honest. I don't have a plan B, and I don't think it's a good idea to have one. We don't know how the situation can develop, and having a plan ready right now can mean tie ourselves down unnecessarily later."

Irene just asks: "Do you mean we'll be making something up?"

"Exactly." You nod.

"Any questions?" Amata asks. A few seconds of silence follows. "Then let's get to work. You all know what to do. Rajan?"

"The Gloria will set sail in a couple hours. The rest of the fleet will be following. Anything happens, the Gloria is our meeting point. Her Highness will coordinate us with her magic."

"All the ships have a full complement of functioning Essence weapons." Irene adds. "Please take good care of them."

"What about my warriors?" Tia asks.

"We're going to embark them on Maka's three pirate ships. They're the best-suited to boarding actions." Samiel explains.

That wasn't our past life, it was the past bearer of our exaltation. There's a big difference. Anyway, Solars certainly do get memories like that. Our initial charms and skills were a result of some bleed over from the exaltation, for example. Some memories and skills remain stuck to the exaltations between hosts, and it's perfectly normal.

That said, Maka knows none of that, so she should be rightfully worried.

As everyone walks out, you stay with Tia. Well, Tia doesn't leave your side, so that hardly takes any effort on your part.

For a moment you're worried that she's going to assault you again. The old Tia, back from when you first met her, would have done so, probably, but it seems she matured enough to resist her urge to slam you on the table and have her way with you.

"Ah, Tia, there's a box with a red stamp on the armory. It's a magical suit of armor that, uh, Amata told me where I could find it. It's designed for mortals to wear, so I was thinking that that tough-looking girl from your tribe, Iscariah, could use it."

"Oh! Thank you!" She claps her hands. "Iscariah is basically my second-in-command in the tribe, and she IS quite tough for a mortal. I'm sure it'll be useful. But..." And here her smiles widens. "...Speaking of which..."

"...You want to see me with the boots and gauntlets, right?" You guess.

She nods energetically.

You reach into the crate, and start donning the brawling aids. Despite the fact that there doesn't seem to be anything to secure them to your limbs, no belts or ties but only bare metal on skin, they fit snugly and comfortably.

They feel almost like part of your body, like they're merging with your skin and becoming one. And, once you've put them on, you quickly get used to the weight to the point that it seems to vanish and you feel like you are not even wearing them, apart for the lightly metallic noise your steps make reminding you.

"...Valeriana said that you designed them." She nods again. "...Do you like thigh-high boots and shoulder-length gloves so much?" More nodding.

You try moving your arms and legs around a bit. You can't blame her, they feel - and look - awesome.

Big difference or not, Exalted can't really tell especially not in the Age of Sorrows with really no footing in Heaven or a direct line to Lytek. Most consider in-game the memories to be that of past lives, based on their understanding.

And technically, every wielder of the same Exalt shard can be considered a past life for the Exalt shard, or third part of a user's soul.

>That wasn't our past life, it was the past bearer of our exaltation.
I just want to reinforce this point. Think of an exaltation like a Green Lantern ring, but instead of being on your finger, it sticks to your soul. Lots of people have had that exaltation, but you are a reincarnation of none of them. Hell, you might even have been alive at the same time as some of them.

As an example, let's say Maka dies fighting the Lintha tomorrow. One of her Captains could, with suitably heroic action, earn the exaltation that once belonged to Maka, and they would get some of Maka's memories and skills in doing so, just like Maka did with the First Age bearer. That doesn't make Maka's captains reincarnations of her, just the latest in a legacy of that particular exaltation.

Exalts still have to deal with some of the baggage of previous bearers - Maka with the Directional Titan, for example - but they are well and truly new, different people, like a new Green Lantern with an old ring, or a new king with an old crown.

No, it's third. The Hun is the part of the soul that is conscious, the Po is basically the Id. The exaltation is a third part, an add-on to a soul that only cool people get.
>>
>>35585669
Technically, since there is reincarnation you can have an exalted with who's previous bearer of their exaltation was their past life, though I'm not sure if it ever happened
>>
>>35585669
Mechanically it amounts to a past life. An Exalted has three parts to their soul, one of which is gifted to them. It's... I mean the distinction to me seems to be semantics. I mean the Upper Part gets scrubbed same as the Shard, and at one point they all belonged to someone at sometime.
>>
>>35585669
I guess in a way it could, it could be a reincarnation for the third part of the soul.
>>
Rolled 6 (1d10)

>>35585580
I'll second >>35585614

I'd also vote for talking about vision but I know how EF gets when we start doing "I VOTE FOR ALL OF THEM"
>>
>>35585743
It's not semantics, no. Reincarnation would imply we were that person in a past life, but we weren't. We are a totally different person that happened to get another totally different person's god powers, with a little baggage to go along.
>>
>>35585669
Its not really quite like that. While you are technically correct, the Exaltation IS part of a persons soul, just as much as your Hun is. So its not like they are completly unrelated people, they definitly have a powerful connection to the past bearers of their exaltation and the exaltation itself is influenced by that. Especially those trapped in the Jade prison, because they never got properly scrubbed clean.

>>35585743
It really doesn't - unless you're suggesting that Maka's captains, some of whom are older than she is - would count as reincarnations of her if they earned her exaltation.

It's a continuation of a legacy, for sure. But they are not reincarnations, and are not the same person, as previous bearers. To say otherwise is, at best, disingenuous straining of logic.
>>
>>35585765
The third part is not a power ring, it is a part of the soul same as the Hun and Po. The Hun and the Shard eventually go to someone else. By my understanding, that's reincarnation.
>>
>>35585820
I don't see why it would, by my understanding of the anatomy of souls in Exalted. The third part is as much a part of an Exalt's soul as the Hun and Po.
>>
>>35585831
Yes, it is. It is explicitly an add on. It attaches to your soul. It's not there when you're born, it finds you and clings to your soul when you do something sufficiently awesome to convince the pattern spiders that you're the one that should be using this.
>>
>>35585852
>>35585849
>>35585831
okay that discussion is really nice ans stuff, but could it become it's own thread? thanky ou
>>
Rolled 6 (1d10)

>>35585831
It absolutely is a power ring. That it attaches to someone's soul instead of their finger and doesn't come off until they die doesn't change that. When it moves on to a new host, that new host is an entirely different person from the old one, not a reincarnation of the previous bearer.
>>
>>35585831
Its not really reincarnation, because the Exaltation is not "you", its something additional grafted to your soul that has no relevance to your "self", except for the occasional memory clinging to it. Its about as much you as if someone grafted a artifical organ to your body. It is part of you, but once its extracted from your body, it wouldn't be considered ressurection of yourself if it gets implanted in a different person.
>>
>>35585852
It is welded to your soul, and acts as a third part. So no, it's not just an object, by the time of Exaltation it's a part of the Exalt's soul make up
>>
>>35585875
I wasn't going to say anything more if the other anon wanted to keep arguing about it, but okay.
>>
>>35585878
By that logic then neither is the Hun, the Hun is extracted upon death and wiped clean of memories and personality.
>>
Rolled 1 (1d10)

Gentlemen, the Exalted General thread is -----> way.
>>
>>35585919
But your Hun is you, its what you are literally built from, just because you are build from recycled material, doesn't it make any less the fundamental basis of your "self". While the exaltation is attached later.
I was really only pointing out that neither "reincarnation" nor, "its just put on and off like a ring" is really accurate.
>>
>>35585669
>a new king with an old crown.

Good thing we're not on the Discworld, then
>>
>>35585921
why do we even try?
>>
>>35585946
Right, but by the fact that the Exaltation retains memories it seems like it becomes a part of the id of the Exalted, else why would it and not just serve as an essence battery?

I'll agree that it's not really reincarnation, but I don't really think the Hun being used for another person is reincarnation either. Only in the loosest sense of the terms, just like a transplanted organ
>>
A few seconds of silence follows as you stare into each other's eyes.

"You have something worrying you." She says, piercing at the heart of the matter.

You sigh, and sit on the edge of the table. "...Did you ever have memories of a past life, Tia?"

"Yes." She replies, with a certainty that almost startles you. "I remember my old life... It feels like a very long time ago."

You say nothing, but urge her to continue with a gesture.

"I remember the trees and the wooden bridges suspended between them. I remember my father and how he died. Growing up alone... and I remember the first time I felt the touch of Luna..."

"You're talking about before you Exalted." You point out.

She shakes her head. "I remember the thrill of the hunt, the ambush. Learning how my new body worked. I remember those that found me, and my first teacher." Her frown deepens. "I remember the mad warlord that trained me after her. I ran away..."

Something clicks in your head. "...You mean that by "your old life" you meant..."

She nods. "When I first saw you. I died and was reborn." She leans closer and gives you a light kiss. "This is my new life now."

For some reason, those words trouble you immensely. "...Do you remember anything from before? From... from an even earlier life? The one where we first met?"

"We met here at the gates of Tianna for the first time." She replies, sounding very sure of herself.

"But you already knew me then."

"Yes." That apparently isn't a contradiction, in her head.

You tell her the vision you had in the Titan, without mentioning the titan itself or the circumstances. You keep details vague. She follows everything you say with utmost care.

"What do you think of this?" You ask her, in the end.

"A bad dream." She dismisses it.

"It felt really... really real."

"A bad dream." She repeats.

With some hesitation, you hand the silver statuette to Tia, depositing it in her palms.

She stares at it. Without a word between the two of you, her fingers go to the hidden switch and release the blade with a loud CLACK.

"...You remember this?" You ask her.

She frowns. "No." She locks the blade back closed, and turns the thing in her hands a couple of times, lost in thought. You have no idea what she's thinking right now, but her face has gotten surly and worried. She's staring at the small figurine with something close to anger.

It's supposed to destroy trace memories, right? What if it doesn't? What if Lytek is 'playing the long game' and collecting those memories in a scrap book instead of destroying them? Those memories could be some damning evidence against the Sidereals in the courts of Yu Shan (a lot of gods still want to condemn the Sids but don't have viable evidence). If Lytek has collected memories of shard-bearers past and present, who's to say he could shuffle memories around? Or teach things to people that nobody else remembers?

Since you apparently aren't familiar with the setting, I can give you the short, it won't work. Noothing can implicate the Sidereals with the crimes of the Usurpation and related misdeeds. The Sidereal hid their culpability behid one of the major constellations and broke it, making it impossible to prove anything. No matter how much evidence one would gather. As long as the Mask stays broken, you can't prove shit on them, and once it isn't borken anymore, you don't need evidence anymore.

One day we'll be able to. Since we aren't leaving her anytime soon, all she has to do is be patient.

No, she wouldn't know the thing is /here/ exactly, unless she has photographic memory that doubles as a GPS.

I'm calling it right now, Tia is going to confirm she knows it was on the Titan

Social + Zenith = 2 1 8 10 9 5 1 2 = 4 successes

You hang your head low, dejected. "I can't tell you."

A few more seconds of silence pass by, as heavy as centuries.

"I understand." She then says, handing the statuette back to you. "Please hand this to Zaan. Tell him to make something useful out of this."

"I will."

The atmosphere couldn't get any heavier.

You stand up. "I'l going to check on the crews down at the docks and then we're leaving. Are you coming with me?"

"I should meet with Five Tails first."

"She's probably with Mikahil at the docks as well."

"Probably." She mumbles, following you around.

She seems so dejected. You wonder if you managed to upset Tia's delicate mental health just before an important battle.

>Ultimately, I can do nothing but have faith in her strength.

>I need to ask someone who can help me, or rather, her. (But who?)

She doesn't want to talk about this. We should just hug her as we walk.

Let's hit her with a Talking to the Heart, tell her no matter what we love her

Maybe just a final word of confidence.

More importantly, though:
>Ultimately, I can do nothing but have faith in her strength.

Just tell her you love her, we don't need charms for that.

Yea, we do. We want to clear this up now, there's no forseeable reason we'll need the one point of essence.

[Talking to the Heart] [Essence 5/6]

As you leave the castle and walk down Main Street, you grasp and hold Tia's hand in your own.

"Tia."

"...Yes?"

"You need to know something."

"..."

"I love you."

She doesn't reply, but her hand squeezes yours gently in response, and a bit of a smile returns to her face.

Let's look at some motherfucking charms!
>>
You're at 8 XP. You can get a Zenith Charm, or increase Twilight, Night or Eclipse by 1. Or save your XP for something else.

You available Zenith charms today are:

- Ox-Body Technique (Permanent. +1 HP)

- Terrifying Glorious Presence (upgrades Majestic Radiant Presence: on top of its effect, all social attacks have 1 automatic success)

- Phantom-Conjuring Performance (Perm. can fashion phantasmagorical images and sounds from your own Anima)

- Body-Mending Meditation (Permanent. All wounds heal twice as fast.)

Also, I have opened an ask.fm at ask.fm/Exaltedfag for any questions you might want to ask related to the Quest or more.

In any case, no plot-sensitive detail will be released there, at least not without repeating it here, so if you're just following the quest and have no interest in the ask.fm you can just carry on as normal. Think of it as extra contents.

>- Body-Mending Meditation (Permanent. All wounds heal twice as fast.)

A lot of our downtime is from healing, halving that time would be great.
>>

Can I cast conditional votes? I seem to remember that you don't allow conditional votes.

If you don't allow conditional votes, I vote to save.

If you do allow conditional votes, I vote to save or, if we do buy something, we buy Body-Mending Meditation, because seriously, we heal too slowly.
>>

>>35587415

I think we should get

>Body-Mending Meditation (Permanent. All wounds heal twice as fast.)

Remember that we spend most our time in the Wyld resting up while the Lunars did most of the work.
>>
>>35587415
>- Body-Mending Meditation (Permanent. All wounds heal twice as fast.)
A lot of trouble when we were fighting the Fae was we kept going from fight to fight half injuredm this should hopefully cut down on that
>>
>>35587415
- Body-Mending Meditation (Permanent. All wounds heal twice as fast.)

Most likely will get a lot of mileage out of this one.
>>
>>35587337
Wait. Did we use powers to make her feel ok?

No, and if you bring that possibility up again I will use powers to make you feel bad about it--

Shit.
>>

>>35587493
We used Talk to the Heart, yes. That charm makes sure that our actions and phrasing are designed to come across in the best possible way for making our point. They don't directly affect the person you're talking to; they directly affect you as you're preparing your statement.
>>
>>35587493
We used our powers so that she would understand our intent as perfectly as possible. Talking To The Heart is not UMI, it's just letting someone understand that we're speaking from, well, the heart.
>>
>>35587493
No we just used it to make sure there's no misunderstanding our meaning when we tell her we love her
>>
>>35587493
Not like directly, Talking to the Heart makes it so what we say or do is perfectly understood, that what we are trying to convey to the other person get's through without any misunderstanding, we told her that we loved her in the clearest way possible, no deception, no minced words
>>
>>35587415
hey EF, i AM appreciating your sacrifice

also
>- Body-Mending Meditation (Permanent. All wounds heal twice as fast.)
>>
>>35587415
Thanks for the thread as always EF, any idea when next time will be?
>>
>>35587493
Yup, we also mindraped her to make her love us more
>>
>>35587691
Sometimes I think Tia mind raped us into loving her
>>
>>35587705
I'm okay with that
>>
>>35587731
That's how it works
>>
The way Talking to the Heart works is like... you know those shows where the words or circumstances of an event are inevitably misunderstood and twisted in insane ways to ensure the worst possible plot development?

Yeah, Talking to the Heart ensures that you will not be misunderstood when communicating something important.

It doesn't make them automatically believe your words, but it makes them understand exactly what you mean to say, without the ambiguities that might be caused by distraction, the limitations of language, grammar and syntax, or any other reason.

Using 40k as an example because this is /tg/ and you probably know what it means, imagine the Emperor using it to get the point across to all Primarchs that "I do love all of you very much, but I can't babysit you and I have important stuff to do on Terra, and also you must absolutely not disturb me because it's very fragile. Yes I'm talking to you Magnus."

They might not believe it, or they might believe it and still choose to go against him, but they would all UNDERSTAND it.
>>
>>35587652
Not sure. Certainly not in the weekend. Maybe Monday or Tuesday.
>>
>>35587737
It's not really any different then if we fell in love naturally, only difference is time
>>
>>35587786
it starts with making people understand our points better, goes on with reducing time we need to archieve our goals in any social interactions and inadvertedly ends with talking to BBEG into a crying pulp
>>
>>35587843
Or convincing them to kill themselves, ala Mass Effect. Fuck max Charm
>>
>>35587875
*Fucking max Charm
blurp, mistyped
>>
>>35587843
Maka could totally make people cry if she wanted to, threatening people is Soc+Zen, 11 dice to try and make a grown man cry sound like good odds
>>
hey guys, do you think we could talk a lintha captian into suicide? or better yet, into helping us
>>
>>35587906
Next time we see Peleps Deled we totally need to make him cry
>>
>>35587939
Probably not suicide, by normal game rules you can't social someone into killing themselves, but we could grill him for info
>>
so, when are we going to change our title to God-Empress of blessed Noon?
>>
>>35588168
We have to rule a much larger territory before we can use that title without souding silly. A whole direction would be a good start
