Today is June 19th, UC 0084. You are Dominic O'Hara, a Commander in the Titans anti-terror organization and squadron leader of the “Grim Guard”, stationed aboard the SCV-82 Valkyrie. Today you've encountered a problem that you haven't managed to solve with superior firepower: which is a rarity, given how much firepower you could and indeed just did apply to it.

While searching for the Principality base called the Garden of Thorns, thought to lie deep within the "Shoal Zone" of destroyed space colony and military debris left by the One Year War, you and your team stopped three would-be Zeon ambushers as they sortied against Yazan Gable and Emma Sheen's mobile suit teams. However the tables weren't QUITE turned by your intervention, as you quickly discovered that your opponent's machines are both much faster than you anticipated and far more sophisticated. They're apparently using some amount of Gundarium alloy in their armor, and each one has been treated with an ablative coating that reduces the effectiveness of your beam weapons.

You'd almost call it a fair fight.

“Light 'em up! Their joints may be weaker!” Carrina shouts to the rest of your team as you weave amidst the debris field, trying to line up a decent shot on any of your opponents while they frantically do the same.

“Sensors!” Rossweisse rejoins at a far greater volume than you're used to hearing her. She seems to have figured that disabling your enemy's optical sensors will give you the upper hand without having to punch through their armor.

>>35611072
Haman says nothing, instead focusing solely on the funnels dancing about your screen, little warning markers showing you where they all are despite the debris clouding your line of sight. You can also feel Audrey focused entirely on lining up a shot on the fast-moving machines: based on where her crosshairs are projected on your screen you think she's aiming for the gaps between their armored plates. With one of her free subarms, you note Rossweisse grabbing a chunk of a concrete parking garage and reeling it in to use as a makeshift shield against an incoming grenade, as Carrina sends her four funnels streaking off with short, disjointed bursts of acceleration. She's probably maneuvering them to use as distractions or ab ambush later, you realize.

Clever thinking, everyone... inspired by your team's efforts you decide to:

>Continue trying to line up a kill shit on one with the twin hyper rifles while dodging as best you can
>Saturate the area with fire, see if you can get in a few hits to wear them down or force a mistake
>Work with your team to use debris as weapons: attack, defend, and limit their movements all at once
>Separate into your fighter forms, overwhelm them one at a time through superior numbers

All this missiles.

Dogpile the Gelgoog we damaged last thread. Shoot our Hyper Rifle forcing the other two to stop covering the damaged unit. It does not matter if we hit with the thing just as long as they *break*. Zoom into melee using our superior thrust-to-weight ratio and punch the cockpit. Yank the mono-eye off the Gelgoogs neck joint, shock him with our wires and use him as a shield against his fellows.

Still got grenades so we can use them once they're corralled by the debris.

If we got dummies launchers built into the suits, we can fake them with our movements by shooting some dummies on one side, spring from the other side. And then reveal there's a funnel behind the initial dummy balloon.

If you really want to try that plan, pick a starting point for it. Once you've agreed on that, I'll let you roll on it. If that goes well, you can proceed to the next step.

But don't expect me to allow anything you come up with to go off perfectly. This isn't a cutscene, it's an active battle against near-equal opponents.

I'll give you ten extra minutes to consider it.

Yeah I'm gonna go with this.
>>
>>35611431
Can we start by working with our team first? Let's get them in on this, use the debris nearby to isolate the suit we'll be using as our shield.
>>
>>35611431
We blew the leg off that particular Gelgoog so it's mobility is trashed.

Keep dodging and jinking, bait the trio of suits into thinking we're panicking and running low on propellant. Fly towards a 'defensible' location, be it a damaged apartment block or Magellan husk. Make our 'stand' while the enemy mobile suits fly in to finish us off. While they're bunched together, shoot our Rifle, forcing them to break apart. Then jump the one-legged Gelgoog.
>>
>>35611509
That option would be
>Work with your team to use debris as weapons: attack, defend, and limit their movements all at once

free advice for later: remember that there's a difference between suggesting a string of actions and suggesting a method for accomplishing a single action, and that truly "thinking ahead" requires pre-emption of likely counterstrategies.

Actually no, you didn't. If you'll reread the last thread you'll find that the shots SHOULD have blasted off limbs, but didn't. This is how you reasoned that their machines are using some amount of Gundarium armor.

How warm am I with thinking that Dominic is a Thrallherd? The one line from last thread had me contemplating it. I've also got the crazy theory in my head that Dominic also is a psionic amplifier and tuning fork for fellow Newtypes. Rosse was considered a failure until we adopted her. Then several months later she can control two mobile weapons. The Sisters power was unstable until they started sleeping with us.

Are we a Buff Bitch Cleric?

“Split one off,” you order loudly. “Try and pack the other two close together and push 'em against a colony wall or something.”

“Roger,” Carrina replies, aiming a careful burst in front of one of the Gelgoogs. It's trailing a bit to begin with, and as it cuts momentum to dodge the well-led shots it ends up separated from its companions. And that's when the rest of your team moves into action.

“Valkyrie,” Audrey adds, “try and get us confirmation of these three suits!”

“Roger,” Catharine replies. “ALICE is working on it.”

Haman maneuvers her funnels ahead and to one side of the second Gelgoog and the Gyan, while Audrey continues to line up a shot. The shots from the funnels push the two Zeon machines 'down' rather than towards the colony Haman seems to be aiming to press them in the direction of.

A quick shot from your twin rifles hits a large chunk of colony debris as you try and assist Haman. It doesn't destroy it outright, but pushes it into the path of the escaping Zeon suits causing them to dart away to the side, now putting them on a course straight for a large section of colony where they'll likely want to make a stand. Their return fire lances past you in retaliation, but at this range the grenades are easy to dodge and the beam machinegun burst lacks the punch to really even damage your shield.

Meanwhile, you've closed the Lilium in towards the lone Gelgoog, which is frantically trying to deal with a trio of funnels Rosse split off to distract him with. The tiny beam guns zip about like a swarm of bees, landing a few glancing blows but mostly serving to keep the pilot from rejoining his team.

Heat wire to the Gelgoog, zap him, then dismantle with beam sabers. No need to waste time grappling, that was a silly idea that someone proposed.

Keep those two pinned. No reason to get fancy by further splitting our forces and fire. Zoom in from 'behind' and 'below' the lone Gelgoog. In his blindspot basically. Punch the cockpit to stun the pilot then move to grapple.

Given the armor protection they have, an MS equivalent of a taser is best at short-medium ranges. Don't want to risk closing in yet where the Gelgoog can also engage us in melee.
>>
>>35611937
We don't need to punch the cockpit, we have mecha-sized tasers.
>>
>>35611833

Heat wire his bitch ass, reel him in like a Gouf with anger issues, and use him as a living shield while we advance on the others.

When they inevitably go full IDEALS at try to shoot us through the other guy, heat wire assisted escape into the colony rubble and engage guerrilla rape tactics.
>>
>>35611955
We haven't punched anything except a Dom in an underpowered Quel. Plus punching the cockpit insures the pilot suffers one hell of a knocking so he can't get to the main breaker and restart the suit.

You jink around a series of beams from the panicking Gelgoog pilot as he downs one of Rosse's funnels and close in on him quickly. “Audrey, wires! Now!”

Audrey complies, firing the left wire... and missing wide as the Gelgoog rolls away to one side.

“Shit,” Haman curses. “I just lost another funnel... these guys are good.”

“NOT YET!” Audrey shouts, with a force you swear you can almost feel. “I'M NOT DONE YET!”

With all the force she can muster from her subarm, she slings her weapon at the Gelgoog's shield where its heat blade sticks like a spear. It also has the added effect of pushing the shield out of alignment long enough for Audrey's second wire to connect with the Gelgoog's crotch, delivering a powerful electric shock like manmade lightning to the enemy machine. The Gelgoog's monoeye flickers once... twice... then disappears.

“GEE GEE MOTHERFUCKER!” Audrey crows, and you swear you can hear Reiko laughing from here. Realizing that the Gelgoog pilot could easily re-start his machine again if you gave him the chance, you ponder your options for how to put his suit permanently out of commission.

First, the coating has to go. A grenade to the Gundarium-armored chest isn't quite enough to use the Munroe effect to your advantage, as the armor resists melting too well, but it does reduce the transparent coating protecting it to a fine, superheated powder.

And that's when you ignite the beam saber in your suit's left arm, which penetrates through the vulnerable spot left by the grenade.

As you turn and boost towards the two remaining suits, Rosse uses a focused series of blasts from her funnels to blast the Gelgoog's sensors and cleave its limbs off at the joints. The pilot is still alive... but he's not going to be a problem.

Finally, you hear back from Catharine. “Alright, transmitting ALICE's best guess!”

Two tags for Gelgoog-J machines pop up on your HUD, which is no surprise. Haman however curses quietly as “MS-15K GYAN KRIEGER” pops up where the Gyan should be pinned down by Carrina and Haman's own funnels.

“That could be a challenge.”

Best intel from Catharine and ALICE suggest the Krieger carries a pair of beam guns in its shield along with several grenades: it's been holding the beam guns in reserve as a surprise, you figure. It also carries a powerful beam lance, and packs far more thrusters than any other Zeon MS you've seen to date aside from the J-type. And this one has been up-armored and improved...

That Krieger's got an impressive weapon and has great maneuverability, but he's only one pilot, and at close range his beam guns and missiles are useless, leaving him with no other options.

“I've got the advantage in melee,” you realize aloud. “I'll deal with the Krieger.”

Carrina tisks at you chidingly. “I've had my fill of Gelgoogs, but Rosse and I'll deal with this amateur while you're playing with his boss. We'll take reaaaal good care of him~”

Poor son of a bitch.

As you close with the Gyan Krieger, Carrina's funnels suddenly reappear from an access corridor beneath the Gelgoog's feet, driving the panicking pilot away from his commander. The pilot of the Gyan roars with anger at his junior's sudden flight, but suddenly finds his hands full with your approach...

... and a chunk of stony debris with a couple of freeze-dried trees jutting out of it drifts through your field of vision.

Something is wrong, you feel... and you find out what when the debris passes, revealing the Gyan Krieger, charging headlong at you. Haman shouts, and you feel like more voices are joining hers.

A pair of beams lance out from under the Gyan's shield, one of which meets the ablative armor of your shield. The second, however, strikes the same patch of weakened ABC that was weakened in your last engagement: the one where a rookie GM pilot landed a lucky shot with a beam saber. Due to the exorbitant cost, and the general lack of the rare replacement material, you wouldn't be able to replace the significantly thinned coating until Tuesday.

And you suffer for it this time, as the shoulder armor of your Lilium is shorn away entirely.

Haman's head slams into your chest, dazing the poor girl and knocking the wind out of you, but you realize you can't stop. You won't stop. You commit to your plan and close fully with the Gyan, tucking your rifles onto the holsters near your wing binders and igniting both of your wrist blades...

... and your opponent parries your attacks with his shield and lance. The beams sizzle as they meet, and the slash of your right arm gouges deeply into the slab of metal on your opponent's left arm. His mono-eye darts across the cross-shaped slit on the front of the Gyan Krieger's head, assessing the situation, before he elects to push outwards with his lance and shield, delivering a hard kick to your Lilium's chest.

"Audrey!" you shout.

"Right!"

The heat wires, which the Krieger's pilot must have forgotten to factor in, explode from the Iris' subarms, latching onto the shield of the Krieger. Audrey quickly hits the recovery switch, and your backwards progress is halted. Then, your Lilium is pulled by the waist back towards your foe, and you use both of your beam sabers to catch the shield in a scissor-attack.

The shield's protective coating crackles and weakens, before finally yielding under your blades. Underneath it, the Krieger's left arm is also severed cleanly halfway down the wrist.

The enemy Ace realizes that while he needs to get away from the shield before it cooks off, he also has no alternative to melee now. So he dodges to the side instead.

Nearby, you also sense the battle going well for Emma and Yazan, as the remaining Stutzer machines are pushed hard now by both mobile suits and the Valkyrie's guns. Carrina and Rosse, however, seem to have been distracted from their game of torturing the remaining Gelgoog pilot by the sudden appearance of three Dodais, whose engines must have been powered down until just now.

>>
>>35613982
Ooh, so we're doing this now? Fine, you're up for a chase, even if he does have a slight lead on you. There's NO mobile suit that's faster than you are out here, unless Cima's on the prowl for some reason.

As the Gyan flees in full reverse you power on after him, peppering his machine with 110mm fire. It doesn't achieve much against Gundarium alloy, but a few spots which are clearly still hardened aluminum show large bullet puckers as the shells slam home. Finally, you close into melee again and take a few swipes as your enemy continues to move, dodging back and forth amid the tumbling detritus of the war he and his comrades started.

Then, an incredible stroke of luck: Haman manages to recall a funnel that just happened to be nearby, drifting aimlessly after you pushed the enemy suits back earlier.

"DOM!" she shouts "BE BRILLIANT FOR ME!"

You don't intend to disappoint the young Newtype woman sitting between your legs. With a great yell you dump as much fuel into the thrusters as you can, wind up with your right fist, and let it fly. It connects with the back of the funnel, imparting your full velocity AND the force of the blow to the tiny device, destroying its apogee motors but sending it careening for the Gyan...

HEADSHOT.

The funnel buries itself into the Gyan's monoeye, and Haman fires it off, causing an explosion that tears the suit's head apart from the inside and sends its pilot careening blindly into a swarm of microdebris. The suit is peppered by bolts and stones and pieces of ruined electronics hardware before it crashes hard into a drifting mountain of scrap.

The pilot is damn near killed on impact, and is fading in and out of consciousness as he fumbles and releases the catch on his cockpit hatch.

A damaged Dodai flies perilously close to your suit, and a second flies by carrying what's left of the Gelgoog the Viola and Sericea were in the process of dismantling. A third slows just long enough for the Zeon ace to fire a wire gun at it from his stricken Gyan. As the flexible material pulls him away, gradually accelerating him up to match the speed of the Dodai, you swear he offers you a respectful salute.

"Why are they bugging out?" Audrey asks. "That's not very idealistic of them."

Haman cocks her head, staring at the Zeon officer. "He doesn't expect to see us again."

"Shit..." Carrina mutters. "Oh shit."

“Ma'am!” Noel shouts. “Massive power surges detected... oh fuck, they're all over the damn place!”

“FALL BACK!” you roar. “ANOTHER TRAP!”

You and Carrina fire off your thrusters at full power, redlining your output, but it isn't quite enough.

Karen makes a series of split second decisions that you later realize may have saved your skin. “Defrah, take us in close! ALICE, pop all our beam gas ahead of us! OPs team, prep for recovery! Sound collision alarms!”

“Split!” Rossweisse suggests... and it's a good suggestion. Your machines separate into four, realigning all of your thrusters for each portion into a single vector, pouring your stupidly high potential acceleration into a single, tightly focused burst. You zip around fragments of colony and cruiser alike, Haman's funnels using weak shots to heat up bits of debris from behind you, effectively deflecting them from your path. Audrey and Rosse fire freely, hitting errant chunks with their heavier ordnance as you clear massive swathes with your hyper rifles.

Then, the lasers arrive. Not a single shot from a superweapon, but waves of red lines of death tear through space from several angles. A part of you realizes that the locations they're firing from were likely set for the AO nearer the edge of the debris patch, and that they've been hastily retargeted for the location around the Zeon “ambush team”'s rally point.

Your suits aren't equipped to stop the antiquated energy weaponry in such volume: a veritable storm of bright beams vaporize debris for kilometers around you and cause your armor to ablate in spots as you near the Valkyrie's protective shroud.

The only other pilots we had out were Emma, Apolly, and Roberto. So long as they hauled ass for the Valkyrie, they're fine. Not so much for anyone else caught out in that shitstorm. Pazom was chilling inside the hangar with the Val Varo.
>>
>>35614977
>>35615101
You all manage to make it into the cloud of rapidly expanding gas, though the damage isn't pretty. You can see that Defrah's rammed the Valkyrie through a fair bit of space trash, banging up the prow of the carrier as it was basically treated like a giant battering ram to get to you faster. She slams hard on the braking thrusters, and re-orients her ship to let you land more easily.

Once safe in the gas, you recombine the Lilium... with the Sericea by mistake. Carrina and Audrey's machines combine as well.

Close enough.

Your other pilots make it back in fairly good order as well. Apolly's Barzam is thoroughly trashed, and he has to ditch it in space before coming aboard in the palm of Emma's modestly-damaged Mark II. The damage to Roberto's Barzam is severe, but can be fixed with enough work. His shield will need replacing, though.

Outside your team, it's another story altogether. The Titans ship carrying Yazan's team has taken bad hits to the bridge, which depressurized with minor casualties. The EFSF regular vessel, however, is gone: sunk as the lasers found an open missile pod, cooking off the entire thing and causing a chain of explosions that gutted her from prow to stern. The Nemos she carried are also nowhere to be found.

Impressively, Cacooler managed to escape serious damage by falling back into the shadow of the Titans ship, using its ablative-coated hull as a gigantic shield and escaping with minor damage. Clever, if a little cowardly... but also understandable. He didn't want to die any more than you did.

Jerid Messa wasn't so fortunate. His machine was caught in the open, and was absolutely eviscerated by the incoming fire. All that survived was his escape capsule: a new development based on the core block system that has been incorporated into the Mark II.
(1/2)
>>
>>35615474
Also unfortunately for him, Yazan Gable managed to pull him to safety in the Valkyrie's gas cloud, and spends five full minutes thoroughly berating him for the loss of his machine, which Yazan attributes entirely to Jerid's inexperience and slow reaction to the threat.

“Premission to come aboard, ma'am,” Yazan addresses Karen over the comm. Karen, who you can now see in a little window ALICE kindly opened up for you on your panoramic monitor, seems unsure.

And there's the crux of it. We could have just lost five pilots just like that within two machines. As I've stated before, the Slattern and Ikebanas are cool, but that's a lot of valuable Newtypes and pilots in one machine. Especially ours with three.
>>

“We've got the space,” you inform Karen. “At least while we fall back.”

“Very well. Lieutenant Gable, you have permission to dock. Reiko, prep the landing deck for the Lieutenant's machine.”

Reiko replies “aye, ma'am' from somewhere offscreen.

As Yazan pilots his machine into the hangar and the space repressurizes, you and the rest of your team start popping your helmets off, eager to celebrate having survived. Apolly and Roberto can't help but grin at the outpouring of relief and affection, despite being well aware of how many lives have been lost today.

The loud crashing sound of Yazan dropping Jerid's pod unceremoniously to the deck draws your attention, as a few of your more perceptive teammates frown.

“This guy...” Carya mutters softly.

“... savage,” Haman finishes.

“YOU!” Yazan shouts, pushing off his barely damaged Mark II to float to the deck in front of you. “You, boy! Unlike the whelp I've gotta deal with, you're the real deal, aren't you? The cockpit was your womb, artillery was your lullaby, and war was your nursery!”

He then eyes your teammates. “And these lovely young ladies... the choosers of the slain. They live and fight at your side, facing danger and death as much for themselves as for you! How can one man be so blessed?”

Strangely, you give into the urge to laugh. Not for long, or very loudly, but enough for Yazan to feel that he's just pressed a very dangerous button. His smile fades ever so slightly.

“You've got me to a T,” you tell the Lieutenant. “I'm different from when I dropped out of high school to join the EFF. I'm a better killer, and God grant, a better man in spite of it.”

“Commander Dominic O'Hara, of the Grim Guard.” You salute.

Yazan salutes back. “Lieutenant Yazan Gable, Test Team Blue. I'm a fan of your work.”

“Oh?” you ask. “Which work?”

“All of it,” he replies with a canny growl. “I've studied your battles extensively... or the ones that've been declassified at least.”

Something about that strikes you as worrisome, but you maintain your composure. “And why would you go to the trouble, Lieutenant? You strike me as a keen-eyed killer yourself. Why study someone else's battles?”

The manic grin of his returns once more. “You and your team have survived some SHIT, Commander,” Yazan replies. “Women and teenagers, killing trained men like I'd swat a damn fly. If you've survived all the reports say you have, you must be strong: maybe even the strongest.”

“Anyone who may be stronger than I am is worth understanding... especially if they gather in packs.”

Great, you have a psychotic Titans stalker now. Because that's a thing you needed.

After a long struggle to free himself from the escape pod, Jerid manages to join Yazan with your teammates.

“Eyes up, kiddo,” Catrina snorts, clearly not liking the way his gaze lingers on the women of your team.

We can keep Yazan entertained, and maybe get him to spill some beans on what the Titans have been doing on his side. Play to the fact that he's our fan.

Good idea. We can exchange war stories on our way there.
>>
>>35616581
I think people are just assuming that because we've seen reports that the Jupiter Energy Fleet is dealing with Mars Zeon. But that's forgetting that Jupiter deals with EVERYONE. If I had to guess based on the power dynamic, as you say, I'd expect Scirocco to end up with either Riah or the Republic of Zeon. Someplace where a brilliant MS engineer could easily find a position, and eventually parlay that into gaining power. I'd assume Riah would be more likely than the Republic, if only because there's less suspicion placed on them. That would allow Scirocco to work more freely in setting up his power base.
>>
>>35616623
The likelihood, yes. But that doesn't mean he's joined up with them.

At this point, every major faction is playing at least one other major faction, and Jupiter's in a position to play them all, for as long as it's convenient.

“I'm going to see that our guests get some food and water before the debrief,” you tell your team. “Get some rest... you all earned it.”

Your team salutes gratefully and shuffle off... Catrina offers Rosse a piggyback ride and you're pretty sure you hear Audrey and Haman discussing baths. As they leave, you escort Yazan and Jerid to the mess hall, where several of the enlisted greet you with applause and promises of fresh food rather than leftovers from lunch.

“Great crew you've got here,” Yazan tells you approvingly. “Very loyal.”

You shrug. “I suppose I must have earned it in their eyes.”

A few minutes later the applause breaks out again for Karen, who is dumbstruck by the reception.

“There you are,” she says as she seats herself, sipping at a beer some steward pressed into her hands as she came in. “So... things got out of hand.”

“We started reasoning it was a trap specifically for the Gundams,” you tell Karen and Yazan. “The Zeeks had a pair of Gelgoog Jaegers and a Gyan Krieger waiting to ambush us, but we ambushed them instead.”

“And they gave you a good fight?” Yazan asks.

“They had gundarium armor and old-fashioned beam reflective coating,” you explain. “They weren't easy to beat, but we dropped two and forced what was left of the team to retreat with minor damage to my unit's shoulder armor and shield.”

“Most people would have been killed,” Jerid muses.

Yazan raises an eyebrow, silently implying that Jerid counts as “most people” for the purposes of this situation.

“Gundarium...” Karen muses, tapping at her personal dataslate. “I'll have Defrah put us on a course for La Vie en Rose for repairs while Reiko and Catharine work on figuring out how the hell they could've gotten their hands on that much Gundarium out in the Shoal Zone.”

“Check our heat wires,” you tell her. “May have pulled off chunks of the Gyan's shield when we took his arm off.”
(1/2)
>>
>>35617063
Yazan laughs. “God, I loved every word in that sentence. You and your valkyries are FAR more fun than the rest of Titans. Better fighters too, from what I've seen. Though I HOPE my experience isn't comprehensive...”

Yazan shoots a glare at Jerid, who busies himself with a milkshake that a passing mess steward insisted he take.

"No respect for your peers?" you ask. "How about your captain?"

"A shitter by the name Jamaican," Yazan replies. "I've seen cruel Captains and stupid Captains, but I never thought I'd be cursed with a cruel idiot for a Captain."

"And your juniors?" you ask, eying Jerid. "Why the trial by fire?"

Yazan snorts. "There's no other kind worth mentioning. It's what forged you, wasn't it? As for our other teams, the Killers are okay, I guess. Tomino, Itano, Yasuhiko, Gordon... three Japs and a dirty Scots-Irish heathen! If they walked into a bar together it'd be the start of a damn funny joke."

You look up at your red hair at the same time as Yazan does. His own is some kinda freaky blonde pompadour, and it bounces as he nods, recalling your ancestry. "No offense, sir."

"None taken."

"So why did you join Titans?" Karen asks abruptly. "What drew you in?"

"That's easy," Yazan replies. "The promise of good fights, and a chance to prove myself."

"And so you joined an organization with other strong fighters?" you ask pointedly.

Yazan grins slyly. "I'm not dumb enough to try my luck with your team, Commander."

Eventually the ship commanded by this "Jamaican" guy, who sounds like a real asshole based on Yazan's description of him, meets up with the Valkyrie, and you quickly transfer the two outsiders off your ship, having gained new insight into how Titans has shaped up since its founding.

Extending your senses, you find Lady Mineva... asleep. In the middle of the day. Must've tired herself out. Figuring it may be best to let the young girl sleep for a while, you find Audrey. Her presence is very much apparent to you: she's in the baths, with the rest.

"Audrey," you greet your copilot as you step into the fake 'onsen'. "You said a while back that you'd like to have a talk about something?"

The Iris' pilot blushes slightly. "Yeah, that's right. You won't miss me here for a bit, will you?"

Catrina shrugs. "Do what you've got to do, then come back. You're supposed to be relaxing... orders are orders."

True, you think to yourself. Maybe that's why people are so eager to follow you? Because they like the orders you give?

Audrey steps out of the water, and your eyes linger briefly on her smooth, round bottom resting above those delightful... hang on, too obvious. Waaaay too fucking obvious. People are staring now, Dominic. Look up, Dominic! Abort! Abort!

"Sauna?" Audrey asks. "Nobody's in there right now."

“Yeah,” you agree, sitting next to Audrey, her long legs falling into your lap. “I suppose I do, don't I?”

“It's weird. You have some sorta superpower or something, gathering skilled women and ending up with them falling for you... to varying degrees, of course.”

You shrug. “I guess. Some take it farther than others.”

“Mostly Newtypes take it farthest,” she points out. “Karen's still struggling with some awkward feelings on the subject, and I've been struggling for a while myself. Artesia seems to like you more as a friend, or maybe a sibling.”

“I know,” you tell her. “I've seen how you've grown closer to all of us, so I'm not surprised we're having this conversation... moreso, I'm a little weirded out that we're having it in a sauna on a spaceship.”

Audrey chuckles softly to herself. “Hey, even if it makes no sense I won't complain. But I think you should know... I've felt a bit weird lately.”

“I felt something different earlier,” you admit. “Tell me, what've you been feeling, exactly? And why is it you'd suddenly start feeling like... well, like a Newtype?”

“I...” she starts. “I feel... things. When our friends are happy or angry, or sad. The people around us, like white noise. And I felt your intentions in battle today, and those of our enemies...”

You smile. “That's not what's worrying you, is it?”

She nods. “I wasn't sure whether I'm falling in love with you, or whether your abilities were starting to mess with my head.”

“Did you figure out which it was?”

Audrey rests her chin on the bench. “I think the others helped reassure me. I trust their judgment.”

“Then what's the problem?”

“I wanted to know if you thought something could happen between us: you're my superior officer, and you're already in a complicated relationship. It seems a little insane to add even MORE into that mix.”

“So it comes to this: what do you want to do?”

Audrey shifts herself on the bench, moving to curl up with her head in your lap. “You know what they told me? When I asked if it was love or mind control?”

“No,” you admit.

“They said they couldn't guarantee it wasn't both,” Audrey informs you, her finger tracing a slow circle around your knee.

“That's... disturbing.”

The nascent Newtype woman, your long-time colleague and dear friend, settles into your lap. Your hand comes to rest lightly amid her chestnut-brown hair, and she lets out a satisfied sigh “And you know what I decided? I'm beyond caring which it is anymore.”

Half an hour later, you find yourself sliding back into the hot water of the bath.

“So you okay now, Audrey?” Haman asks as Rosse and the Sisters peer at her from across the water.

Audrey, for her part, gives a relaxed smile. “Sure. Now all that's left is the catchup period.”

Karen shakes her head in disbelief. “Kids these days.”

Axis Shock requires resonance, not death.

Having two Psychoframe suits with three Newtypes in each... they may end up bending Physics over a table and making it their bitch.
>>
>>35618990

give Karen a 'you're next' look...
She will become a Newtype and she will like it...
>>
>>35618945
Are we research the NITRO System too?
>>
>>35618990
And that's all for this weekend.

Hope the long combat grind wasn't too bad, and I'll see you next week, where Titans could go full genocide, and you may get to meet a certain tired old terrorist who's taken a keen interest in you and your crew.

Thanks for playing, and the archive is up for your viewing pleasure.
>>
>>35619104
>where Titans could go full genocide

Not if we have anything to say about it. Thanks for running Hearts.
>>
>>35619104
Thank for running see you next time.
>>
>>35619104
Thanks for running dude.

Now in general to anyone who might know. Is it actually possible that Audrey will activate as a new type or are all yall just bullshitting? I've got no idea. My Gundam foo is weak.
>>
>>35619051
That was an Alternative reference. It's the Valkyries creed.

Everyone dies.
>>
>>35619152
She literally just had sex. She's a Newtype, Jim.
>>
>>35619161
Fun times...
>>
>>35619104
>tired old terrorist
Syam Vist in person at last?
And it's a wonder how Doc managed to have him as a contact, and not Cardeas given the long age gap.
>>
>>35619194
So.. that's how it works or?
>>
>>35619229
She was already awakening as a Newtype. We boned her into a full Newtype. Do I really haft to keep saying this? Incredibly strong emotions awaken a person as a Newtype. Having coitus with the person you're madly in love with is one hell of a powerful emotion.
>>
>>35619051
We are going to make Banana's stunts in Unicron episode 7 look like parlor tricks. The results will scare the EFF so badly that they'll cancel all Newtype research for a century and a half. And that's why the Gaia Gear only has a regular psychoframe and not some crazy physics warping god-engine.

Speaking of Banana, how much is his relationship with Mineva going to be altered by the fact that she grew up around Uncle Dominic and his Battle Harem? That's got to have a weird effect on her beliefs about how romance work.
>>
>>35619152
In the quest? It happened just nowish
In cannon Gundam verse? Maybe
>>
>>35619216
>long age gap
Nah, it's only another ~10-15 years to Unicorn. He wouldn't need to get sealed for cryo yet.
>>
>>35619152
Completely possible. A solid number of the crew of the White Base awakened some degree of Newtype skills during the war, and you've been dealing with combat almost nonstop since early 0083: in higher-spec suits, against superior enemies in most cases. It would absolutely not be surprising at all to see a Newtype awaken in this case, and Audrey's the one in the greatest position for that to happen. All it would need is a trigger.

The only reason Newtypes are rare, it seems, was that most of the ones with potential got killed before they fully awakened. The war was brutal, after all.
>>
>>35619283
Banana Sandwich.

Riddhe on the bottom, Minerva on top, Banana in the middle.

Because Riddhe and Minerva has more chemistry with Banana than each other.
>>
>>35619341
>Banana sandwich

We should put Banana in our Liliums.

Then we'd have an Ikebanana.
>>
>>35619283
>>35619341
Ya know I gave up on new Gundam stuff after SEED but I keep seeing people talking about Banana and Unicorn Gundam
I think I'm gonna go watch some
Though I'm going to guess its not as funny as people make it seem like
>>
>>35619341
might as well invite marida and loni to the party as well
>>
>>35619329
Ah! So it's possible but she hasn't activated yet.

I'd assumed there would be more fanfare if she had.
>>
>>35619229
It's not really science that can be replicated, otherwise we'd be confined in a Newtype lab.

But for points of comparison, canon!Emma met Amuro, then Kamille and Quattro, and Kamille pretty much formed a bond with Emma (sensing if she's in danger for one). And close to the end of the series, she started to somewhat awaken.
Reccoa got close with Quattro, Kamille can also dangar sense her, and then she ends up with Scirocco and an inkling to her latent abilities awakening was also implied. And then they both died anyway.

Maybe it depends on the person? The amount of time in their (Newtypes) presence certainly helps. And I'm personally convinced that a dose of suffering also contributes to awakening (hence the angsty teenagers bit). Hopefully that last bit won't ever come into play.
>>
>>35619433
Novel Loni or manga Loni, please, I'd rather not deal with damaged goods from Sunrise OVA writers.
>>
>>35619329
Makes me think about that bit in Crossbone where Tobia hypothesizes that Newtype abilities are just another environmental adaptation, like how someone who lives at higher altitudes gains stronger lungs and better endurance. I like the idea that Newtypes aren't necessarily some next stage of human evolution, just another way humans can learn to relate to the world around them. It's an idea Gundam plays with but never really goes too far into.
>>
>>35619457
Yup. Manga Loni is superior Loni.

One of the best possible moments in this quest would be getting Marida before she gets sold into sex slavery.

>>35619439
On this ship? Seems like more of a "good job, now go get some complimentary D."
>>
>>35619471
That's actually the premise I've been operating under.
>>
>>35619439
The story posts called her a Newtype a couple times, I'm fairly sure she awoke
>>
>>35619490
What is it with Gundam and sex slaves?
>>
>>35619490
I would like that too.
>>
>>35619490
>sex slavery

We can't do that though. She's not Indian nor are we a pedophile. We'll capture her in our Pokeball fair and square on the battlefield.
>>
>>35619525
King just posted that she hadn't yet >>35619329
>>
>>35619525
Even so! She still may not have fully awakened yet. Dominic will haft to guide her with his D and friends.
>>
>>35619561
We all would like that.
>>
>>35619490
Ideally we'd rescue all the Purus and find loving families to raise them. Though maybe we'll keep a few around to be big sisters to Mineva. They even look kind of similar, people would totally buy that they're related.
>>
>>35619591
Not "fully", no. In times of stress, or in large groups, she starts getting "bleed" from other people, but it's something that only started in the last week or so.

Hint.
>>
>>35619630
All of us have the same hair color too.
>>
>>35619561
>>35619597
We could probably buy her actually. We have more than enough Credit and gold bullion.

>>35619630
Nah, we build a bigger boat and cruise the void with all of them.
>>
When will the Psychoframe be done?
And are we doing the NITRO too?
>>
>>35619654
So, it started around the same time she started piloting the Ikebana Bomber. Which has a psychowave receptor in it so that it can better coordinate with us via Haman sending her messages. Well, direct exposure to Newtype pressure has been shown to influence a person's awakening.
>>
>>35619630

but they are related anon... they are dodecatuplets....

I assume that is the correct term for 12 siblings

>>35619669
Would Axis work, or a modified Jupitruis?
>>
>>35619654
I'm still saying our Newtype power is a psionic amplifier and allows Newtypes we've forged Social Links with finer control over their own psychic dickery.

We're the supporting protagonist in our own battle harem. The horror.
>>
>>35619717
>Yazan gets the NITRO System
>Gentlemen, we're living in a NORG world
>>
>>35619717
Not for a loooong time. We don't even have the biosensor yet, the psychoframe is years off. As for NITRO, my guess would be that someone is going to build it, but not us. We don't really need it that much, and while it's less detrimental to the pilot than EXAM it still has problems. I'm fine with skipping it.
>>
>>35619742
>Would Axis work

Certainly

>Jupitris

Just kill and take Pappy's. His has all sorts of cool toys on board.
>>
>>35619669
Funny, if I remember it right our of our first chance to go exploring after the OYW flashback arc ended with KoH telling us we couldn't go to a brothel looking for enslaved newtypes.
>>
>>35619742
No, I mean Mineva being related to the Purus, not the Purus being related to each other. Mineva has similar hair and facial structure, enough that people might assume she's related to Puru.
>>
>>35619788
No, it's fine, we've got our own super ship in the works, remember? Haman's working on a new design with Republic engineers. It'll even have artificial gravity via paramagnetic attraction, no need for rotating. That will be so cool if it can be made to work.
>>
>>35619792
>couldn't go to a brothel
>in a Gundam quest

That's terrible. Literally worse than Hitler.
>>
>>35619848
But will Defrah still be able to make it spin in place when we get bored?
>>
>>35619805
They all have similar facial structures because they're loli fanservice characters in an anime, anon.

The hair is a fair point.

>>35619792
Because you're not Char, yes. I recall this quite clearly.
>>
>>35619864
>worse than Hitler
So Stalin or Mao than?
>>
>>35619848
Yeah, but the Jupitris has enough fuel onboard her to cruise for decades. Plus enough room for hydroponics and other neat commodities if we ever decide to make our own home-away-from-the-solar-system when things go further South.
>>
>>35619891
>They all have similar facial structures because they're loli fanservice characters in an anime, anon.
I was actually comparing their older selves in Unicorn when I made that judgement. They've got the same jawline. Not that you can tell most of the time with Marida's typically dour expression.
>>
>>35619904
We already have a Space Hitler. His name is Mussolini. We can't make a comparison until we've perforated Bernini with M'Quve's vase shards.
>>
>>35619654
>In times of stress
Like if Bask takes her family hostage and they die in front of her?

>or in large groups
All the more reason to have Kamille on-board and for her to bounce MS concept ideas with.
That was my initial plan, but thankfully it doesn't need some urgency to be fulfilled.
>>
>>35619891
>because you're not Char

And thank god for that. We only collect lolis.
>>
>>35620011
>takes her family hostage

Too tame Anon. Too tame. Riddick would make her kill them herself for even more suffering.
