Lets get System 0207 started:

So this is a cooperative project for all of /tg/.

The system we will use for system creation will be Mongoose Traveller. I am using the 2008 printing of the Core Rulebook, pg.s 1697 to 181. Any Entry in the Universal World Profile(UWP) may be altered if /tg/ doesn't like the result, but once a world is complete the code is fixed.

The project is not limited to just building the sector, the cultures and races are also under discussion. Currently the only inhabitants are humans and the scattered Zoani. Random creature creation can be found on pg.s 69 to 75.

Okay, so we finished with 0201 and are now starting on 0207.
Size 2d6+-2 to begin.

Nice. Might want to clean up the details on Shackle though:
0201 – Shackle - X310669-8 (Roasting Moon, Prison World, Red Zone)
This scorching hellhole is a transit point and fuel stop from Ceu-Tijii to the rest of the sub-sector. Primarily used as a place to boot unwanted crewmembers and prisoners, many a pirate crew has been liberated from the inmates here. The Imperial Government keeps close watch over the prisoners and maintains a pair ancient support ships that rotate in-system to discourage any loitering. The prison does produce a fine weave of cloth, if you can manage to avoid the blockade and bribe the warden. Flight paths and landing zones are tightly controlled by the blockade.
There is a small community that serves the prison, but the nature of the place means a visitor is never sure whether the inmates have taken over. Landing is only allowed with an Imperial Warrant or a specific Passkey. Warrants are dangerous to counterfeit, but Passkeys can be acquired legitimately or otherwise if you know who to ask.
Is a bit easier to parse through.

>>35632836
Nice, this is turning into a regular garden world.
Now, Temperature roll 2d6 and state "Hot", "Standard", or "Cold"

So, a thin atmosphere, but breathable. That gives us a -1 on the temperature chart.
2d6-1, coming up. Crossing fingers for 5-9, temperate.

The Law Level makes this world a possible Amber Zone, which makes the Embassy potentially very useful to visitors with the right papers.

Well this could just be a Vacation planet, it has restrictive laws to keep criminals away. Would also explain the Counsulate and TAS, and why a TL8 Planet has a Class B starport.

0207 - Sunshine - B554999-8 Ga Hi
A Vacation spot for those with enough wealth or political influence to purchase an Imperial Writ, standard travellers are advised to refuel and immediately depart the system, as the decadent bureaucrats who run this system are as likely to order the Navy to open fire as escort to the Jump Limit.
>>
>>35634802
Fortunately, at TL8 it's not a very able Navy.

Amber Zone it is!
>>
>>35634802
I'll clean up the description some more, but does anyone have a problem with this as is? I imagine the populace is mostly service workers (stewards, bellhops, maids, bartenders, prostitutes, and other non-industrial work) with a small minority of people who do all the technical work of manufacturing everything the planet needs.

Now on to 0208, Size 2d6+-2

>>
>>35635476
Atmosphere 8, Dense, but not Toxic, nice.
Before we move on to Hydrographics we need temperature 2d6+1, and is this planet at the Hot or Cold edge of the Habitable Zone, or is it in the nice medium middle ground?
>>
>>35635476
>>35635518
LOTS of air, but a hot desert.
A size 4 is going to have trouble holding on to that much air over geologic time, so I'd suggest that this world took a large comet to the face in the recent (thousands of years or less) past. It heated the place up quite a bit, and there is almost no persistent surface water despite the added moisture of the comet. Probably very stormy, though, with rain falling and either evaporating immediately or soaking in deep. Anyone living here will know how to trap moisture.
>>
>>35635632
Or it could have TONS of volcanic activity constantly pouring out CO2 and Nitrogen Compounds or some other mix of chemicals (possibly even venting light elements that got trapped/bonded to the core during accreation phase of planetary formation), causing an extreme increase in pressure to size ratio.
>>
>>35635547
Going with Outer Edge brings the Temp down to Temperate, but only brings that Hydro roll up to a 1.
>>
>>35635807
That much volcanic activity would probably result in a Tainted atmosphere, though.
>>
Rolled 5, 2, 5, 4 = 16 (4d6)

Population and Port. The first two dice will be read at -2, and the second two will be read at -7+Pop.
>>
>>35635807
I'm actually liking the lighter element idea. Volcanoes, instead of releasing tons of carbon and silicates, jetison Lithium compounds or even trapped Nobel Gasses. A volcano erupting Neon would be a terrible, but awesome sight.

>>
>>35635987
>>35635952
Shy did you do Population and Starport? It was supposed to be Population and Government, next is Starport, just a straight 2d6 roll.
>>
>>35636115
That first die is supposed to be a d3+1, according to my book, so we have two nations, Gov 2 and 4 respectively.
We'll use the next two rolls for relative strength: 7 and 9. The Gov 4 is dominant, but on a world with only 400,000 people, that's not saying a lot.
>>
>>35636115
Okay, so it's a single Government undergoing a Civil War, (Representative Democracy).
>>
>>35636168
I'm using the Pop effect on Port (page 180 at the bottom of the Hard Science mod), so I roll it right after Pop.
>>
>>35636228
Balkanisation is the one Government roll I have changed personally. 1d3+1 gives between 2 and 5 factions, a d6 gives between 1-6, giving a wider possible range and a higher number of governments. anyway, what's the Law Level here? 2d6+0
>>
Rolled 2, 4 = 6 (2d6)

>>35636329
>>
Rolled 1 (1d6)

I wouldn't consider a revolution to count as Balkanization, and we can still add +1 for Gov 7 to the roll.

>>35636274
> Hard science worlds use the space opera modifiers above, plus additional DM to population based on the Size and Atmosphere as follows:
>If Atmosphere is not 5, 6 or 8 the the DM is -1
>In addition, the population of a world has an affect on the class of the local starport. Instead of rolling 2d6 on the Starport Table, roll 2d6-7 and add the Population value.
>When generating a mainworld for a space opera setting, generate Size and Atmosphere as normal then consult the following if Size is 4 or less:
>If Size is 3-4 and Atmosphere is 6+, set Atmosphere to A.
Hydrographics is also affected. Apply the following DMs to the rolls on the Hydrographics Table:
>If Size is 3-4 and Atmosphere is A the DM -6

Give me a sec to rewrite the UWP for this place.
>>
>>35636558
I'm not worried about any of the other mods. All I'm using is the Pop to Port mod.

>>35636558
>>35636589
On the other hand, it will get you that Exotic atmosphere.
>>
>>35636637

>>35636558
Using Hard Science Fiction the new profile is actually:
E4A046-5
>>
>>35636683
A Desert, Low-Technology, Non-Industrial World, with an Exotic Atmosphere.
>>
>>35636683
The loss of one Pop should only drop the port to a D. Gov goes to 6, and the Law to 5. The TL does end up at 5, but goes back up to 8 because of environmental limits (page 179).
>>
>>35636674
gah, forgot to bumb tech because Enviromental Limit, but using Hard Sci-Fi you lose a point of Pop and it drops the Gov to 6(Captive Gov) and the Starport to E,
Still need Law Level Though, but so far:
E4A046?-8 Desert, Non-industrial.
>>
>>35636897
The Port raw roll was 9, which a Pop 4 turns into a 6.

Law was rolled, it was a 6, but the Gov drop affects it. Law=5.
>>
>>35636854
You are correct, I did 7-9+4, not 9-7+4...
D4A046?-8

So we need a Law Level for this Desert, Non-industrial. and probably need to either declare this as a Zoani world or make an alien race that lives here. No other reason to have a colony here....NEVER THE FUCKING MIND. Desert Worlds have access to a FUCK TON of shit. Crystals and Gems, Petrochemicals, Pharmaceuticals, Precious Metals, Radioactives, Spices, Uncommon Raw Materials, Illegal Drugs, Illegal Luxuries...we now know where Sunshine gets it's bling from.

Let's break for now. I'll update the pdf with what I have, and we'll do it again after the next.

Weekdays are obviously a bit harder to do marathon rolling sessions, but most week nights I at least check the Catalog.

At this rate we'll still be rolling through Christmas, but I know this rate can't be maintained. Slow and steady. If I miss a session do what you must to archive it and I'll catch the info the next time.

Yeah, I was thinking of trying to get a session in while the 40kids are at school tomorrow, but I'm going to be busy as hell.

Doing a write up of the systems that don't have one yet, will get them posted tonight or tomorrow morning before I start running around town.

Write ups for Sunshine, Lithia, Jeeyaren, Manes and August incoming, all hands brace for walls of text!

0207 - Sunshine - B554999-8 (Hot Garden World, Bureaucratic Vacation Spot)
A Vacation spot for those with enough wealth or political influence to purchase an Imperial Writ the few beaches Sunshine offers are some of the best in the sector, and the services ARE the best in the sub-sector. Those few licensed to trade in-system find that the few goods they can barter or purchase are always of excellent quality and extreme rarity, but are generally priced beyond the ability to recoup the cost. Scheduled freight or underground brokers are the only means to cut a fair trade with the corrupt bureaucracy that controls every aspect of Sunshine, from the System Navy to the legal working hours for towel attendants. Those Travellers entering the system without one of Sunshine’s expensive Trade Licenses will find a cold reception and, quite possibly, hot guns. The Bureaucrats of Sunshine are as likely to order the System Navy to open fire as escort a ship to the Jump Limit. The Consulate and Aid Society are the only areas in-system that aren’t controlled by the Chief Bureaucrat, Myxlplxtk, and an invitation or authorization to visit these stations is a political tool greatly valued by High Society in the sub-sector.

0208 – Lithia - D4A0465-8 (Hot Exotic Desert World)
There is little to Lithia other than the Scout Base and the midsized mining colony. Lithia does produce large quantities of the Uncommon Raw Materials used in Jump Drives. The Atmosphere of Lithia, while not able to sustain a human, is inert and scatters the light of Lithia’s star into shattered fragments. Truly something every sophont should experience at least once.

0210 – Jeeyaren – D7B056A-9 (Roasting Corrosive Desert)
Jeeyaren is an example of extremes; air so acidic Vacc Suits need hourly maintenance and ground so alkali chalky dust coats everything in a thick film. The few workers that reside in-system long term stay at the High Port, as the landing facilities on planet rarely last a full work rotation. The nature of Jeeyaren is such that asteroid miners bring their find to the High Port to strip the wealth of the belt and then drop the slag to the planet surface to form a rough landing pad for cutters and cargo shuttles to quickly pick up the small bounty Jeeyaren has to offer and transfer the next shift of workers and survival supplies.

0301 – Manes – X8A46AB-8 (Temperate Exotic Fluid)
Manes, a former Zoani colony, the world is littered with remnants of the Zoani civil war. Not much is produced here and human colonists have trouble adapting to the clear, but unbreathable air. No-one has discovered what binds the free oxygen of this planet and the Zoani refuse to tell. All that here are fading memories and terrible scars of battles long over.

0302 – August – D662554-7 (Pirate Haven)
For every inmate in the Shackles there resides two of his compatriots in August. Hidden drones, false beacons, and planned treachery are the only things this system has to offer. Wise Travellers don’t take passage through August and instead Jump directly to Manes, but those who cannot a quick skim and Jump are called for. The planet of August is quite unremarkable, but the inhabitants will not hesitate to capture and pillage any vessel foolish enough to mistake seeming as reality.

I might alter Lithia to have the odd volcanoes that erupt with Neon or Argon gas and liquid Beryllium and Magnesium.

Got 'em.

Not convinced that August is viable with that blatant a presence, but we'll see how the other nearby worlds work out.

Jeeyaren defies chemistry in that form. If the ground and the air were that different, they would react with each other constantly and loudly. To make the place work, I'd go all alkaline. So hot and dry that free hydroxides makes up a significant part of the lower atmosphere. A suit leak is a messy way to die, as the air mixes with the moisture on and in your skin, and an external moisture leak sets the ground and air on fire.

Manes is a mystery because even the modern Zoani have no idea...

I was thibking that the acid and alkalai generally don't interact unless something disturbs them, probably a layer of Radon or Xenon separating the ground from the rest of the "air". That way the planet is basically a death trap waiting for something to come along and shake up the dust and cause it to react. Ever few months enough thermal energy is absorbed to start a storm cell that wracks the plant with violent chemical conflagrations, depositing valuable mineral salts for collection.

I've done similar, but the planet needs to be able to reset itself, or it will react itself to a stable point and then stop. I could see a night vs day cycle, where the dusk rains are not something you want to get caught in, but which result in some interesting minerals and other compounds. They all vanish with the dawn, however, as the sun resets the chemical clock.

I think that ship would look much better if you turned the viewport dome around. Doing so also nets you a pair of armaments on the ship.
