You attempt to pry Chrys' impossibly strong arms off of you but your efforts are met with little success, she's simply stronger than you are by a very, very wide margin. She ends up hauling you forcefully onto your feet, a task she manages without difficulty, and twisting you around to face her. When you finally manage a look at her face you're surprised to see she's actually frowning, which is perhaps as extreme as her facial expressions get.

“You should have simply told us your plans!” She admonishes you, wagging a finger in your face much like a irate mother would. “Instead you went running off on your own; to do what, only the gods know! What if that potion hadn't been enough to protect you from the blast? What if the gunpowder had been magical and thus capable of harming you? What if you had been caught and captured? What if-” She slips into a foreign language you don't properly understand. It's guttural, halting, and loud. You have trouble placing it for a moment, before finally recognizing it as the language of her homeland.

Darzi places a restraining hand on Chrys' shoulder once she realizes you have absolutely no idea what she's saying. Chrys shoots her a glare, but reluctantly steps away after a tense moment of stand-off. She grumbles all the while in her strange native tongue. It's the first time you've heard her speak the language in quite some time. You can't help but wonder if she realizes she's doing it, or if she simply slipped into it in the throws of her rage.

(1/2)
>For that Anon who wanted a map of the island. Keep in mind, this is extremely rough.
>>
You think you might have actually upset her, and not in a way that she'll easily or quickly get over. A betrayal of trust. Unfortunately, other pressing matters demand your attention at the moment. You remind yourself to speak with her later and smooth things over before turning your attention to Darzi. “How have things been on this front?”

Darzi leans her weight back onto one foot and folds her arms in front of her chest. “Not well. The Shahza-” She stops herself. “-the Shah rather, has locked himself in his quarters and refuses to come out. I'd be willing to wager a hefty sum he'll want to speak with you now that you've returned. Most of the villagers barricaded themselves in their shops or their homes after they saw the explosion, though there are a few shops open and a few men and women going about their business. The Temple is locked up tight, Varistha's orders. None can either enter or leave until he decides that the crisis has passed. I would get in contact with him if I could, but he's inside and I'm out here. I suppose we could use Fulvia as an intermediary, or Skull Kid, but I didn't think sending someone human or human-looking to speak with him was wise. As I'm sure you know, he's not the most tolerant individual, even by your standards.” Your standards? You're incredibly tolerant of those filthy short-ears!

You're left wondering what your next move ought to be. You could try to get in contact with the Varistha and explain the situation to him, in the hopes of getting the lockdown lifted. However, you'd need to use either Skull Kid or Fulvia as an intermediary, which may put him in a foul mood. You could also simply wait and see how things turn out, but that seems somehow irresponsible.

So basically, with a bit of stretching of the term, we have technically already killed "Shah"?

Soma, you sneaking bastard. I knew that no matter what route we take, you'd have the pieces fall in place anyway. And with the portal to the void opening, it could seem that this would be a great outcome for the "void messenger"

Yeah it would be a good idea to say somethign along the lines of "Hey, this is what i plan on doing, I'm gonna spend some time preparing, if you want to come then you might want to prepare as well. If you don't wanna come then that's fine as well."

Then maybe a training montage if Soma doesn't want to plow through bunches of training. Though i'd prefer to just get all the raw meditations and shit. Play through it as we go. We can do many meditations per day, we could do lots of effects of Metas in a thread of we knuckle down.

Also we may want to read a bit on our breaks.

And GM make time some time though, I support the Blood Battles idea.

You run your fingers through your hair absentmindedly. It still feels strange to be corporeal again despite the effects of the potion wearing off hours ago. Being bound by universal properties like gravity, mass, and friction feels unexpectedly confining after being freed of such shackles. Being able to soar whimsically through the air, even under the stressful circumstances you were faced with, proved enjoyable. Ah well, you've still got more of that incorporeality potion should you ever need it.

You spare a glance Chrys' way while pondering what to do about the lockdown. She's stalked off down the pier a fair distance and stand with her arms folded moodily in front of her, attention focused firmly on the sea and the rapidly dispersing cloud of ash in the distance. It seems so tiny from here, a blimp on the horizon. Hard to believe it wiped out a good portion of an island and likely killed hundreds naught but a few hours ago.

You feel an odd tightness in your chest. Is this guilt? It's certainly unpleasant. You turn your attention once more to Darzi. “The way I see things, the pirates are dead and gone. I sunk their entire fleet, or at least the vast majority of it. If any ships survived the blast they'll likely flee rather than face what's left of our forces in battle. We've got nothing to worry about. We've won. With that in mind, I think I'll try and calm Chrys down.”

Of course, you're withholding the fact that you've unleashed a possibly unending wave of horrible monstrosities on the world. You can bring it up later, or perhaps simply leave the problem to fester and grow until it becomes too bothersome to ignore. Either or.
(1/3)
>>
Darzi merely sighs and shifts uncomfortably on her feet. “If you really think we've nothing to worry about, but we should at least attempt to report in to the Varistha. He is our host after all.”

You wave her off, stomping down the pier towards Chrys. She doesn't turn to you as you approach, but does address you in her usual flat tone. “I am not in the mood for companionship at the moment. Leave me to my thoughts.”

You ignore her command, instead coming to stand next to her on the end of the pier. The sun's begun to rise to the east, casting the light hitting the water beautifully. You've got a long day ahead of you. You can feel it in your bones. After taking a moment to brace yourself and consider your words carefully, you speak. “Chrys, I apologize for rushing off without telling you. I was worried for your safety, and I didn't want you attempting to stop me. I know it was inconsiderate, but I really was simply looking out for your safety.”

She cast you an evil look. Her eyes narrowed and pupils dilated. You half expect her to hit you. Instead she simply snaps her attention back to the sea, speaking in a terse, clipped cadence. “I do not need to be protected. I am more than capable of taking care of myself.”

Sheesh, seems you may have touched on a nerve with that comment. You press onward regardless. “What you volunteered for was a suicide mission, Chrys. If not for you then for Darzi or some other idiot they managed to rope into the task. Granted, what I set off to do was no better. Worse, in fact. However, I had the benefit of an incredibly expensive, incredibly rare magical artifact which greatly reduced the personal risk. You wouldn't have had that advantage.”

(2/3)
>>
She shifts irritably. You note a touch of red coloring her cheeks. “So you really did it solely because you wished to look after me? Because you care for me?” She finally meets your eye, though she seems more than a tad suspicious.

You use just a touch of magic to make yourself seem more convincing, more sincere, and above all else to calm your nerves. After all, you can't really say your sole motivation was Chrys' well being. Your mind was filled with thoughts of valuable loot and perhaps as an afterthought sparing the lives of the Shahzada's soldiers. Not like you're going to tell Chrys that. Instead you reach a hand beneath her hood and ruffle her hair teasingly. “Of course I care for you, it should be obvious.”

The red tinge that had graced her cheeks before darkens, and she cast her eyes nervously towards the floor. She seems to have forgiven you, or at the very least decided it's not important enough to fight over. You turn to leave, deciding the issue resolved, but she reaches out and tugs on the sleeve of your robes with surprising gentleness. When you turn to see what it is she wants, you find yourself wrapped in a warm embrace, far different from the rib-crushing vice you found yourself in earlier.

You return the gesture, simply holding one another for a moment. Unfortunately Chrys pulls away after only a few seconds of contact. She does her best to compose herself, but can't quite manage to conceal a sly grin. “We'll speak more on this after... your task is completed.” She nods curtly towards you, apparently considering that a suitable end to the conversation, before marching off to rejoin your other companions.

You clap your hands twice to get everyone's attention. They'd been in the middle of a conversation about the new Shah from what you could tell before you interrupted. They give you their attention readily enough and you clear your throat uncomfortably, trying to decide how you want to word this. “So, you all know the good news. The pirates are dead and gone. Their base reduced to a ruin. Their fleet little more than ash.”

Your companions nod, and you decide to reach out towards Skull Kid and Fulvia just to be considerate. Fulvia already knows, but you feel the conversation would benefit from her input. As you continue speaking, you simultaneously broadcast your words over the brooches. “However, I've got some bad news as well... You see, the pirates were using an old Rhynian facility as their base of operations. It was fully functional, in almost perfect condition in fact. It even had a reactor of its own.”

A look of realization dawns on Profectus' face. You hold up a hand to stop him as he opens his mouth to speak. “When I triggered the blast, it destabilized the reactor and broke whatever mechanism the Rhynians use to contain the-” You roll your hand searchingly through the air, trying to think of the word you're looking for. “-the source, let's call it that. It created a portal into the void where the reactor used to be, and said portal promptly began to vomit forth horrible, horrible monsters into our reality. As far as I know, they slaughtered what remained of the pirates but are confined to the island. I'll hand things over to Fulvia to explain in a little more detail.”

(1/2)
>>
Judging by the pause before Fulvia begins transmitting her thoughts, you probably caught her off guard. However, you get the feeling that she's vaguely pleased with you. It's hard to pin down exactly why you know this. She fills them in briefly on the last time a generator's containment was breached, going into detail regarding the countermeasures necessary to stave off the monsters spilling out. Up to and including sending an entire ten thousand man strong legion of soldiers to halt its advance. She finishes her little lecture with a recommendation that you simply inform the powers that be and move on, it's a problem beyond the realm of your ability to deal with.

>Ask for recommendations from your party regarding your next course of action.
>Tell them you'll be informing the Varistha of the breach but doing naught else to assist.
>Tell them you'll be informing the Shah of the breach but doing naught else to assist.

“So-” You wave an arm, gesturing to all of your companions vaguely. “-What do you think we should do? Personally, I side with Fulvia on this one. Just tell the Varistha and leave it in the hands of those far more capable than we. I mean...” You rub the back of your head uncomfortably. “If what Fulvia's said is true and what I've seen is any indication of the sort of beast we'd be facing, there's no way we could hold out against the sort of onslaught it took ten thousand men just to contain.”

Darzi raises an eyebrow surprised. “You rushed off on a suicide mission without a second thought, but this gives you pause? You must be really shaken up, Mikhael.”

You shrug your shoulders noncommittally. To be perfectly honest, you've really been feeling out of it lately and you're just not sure how much more your sanity can take. “I guess you could say that, yeah. Plus, I mean. Fulvia is the expert here. If she recommends leaving it be, we ought to leave it be.” You pause, adopting a faux-offended tone. “What? I can't be cautious every now and again?

Darzi grins. “I'm just saying, it's rare for you to suggest something almost sane. For the record, I agree. I think we ought to inform the Shah, inform the Varistha, and make sure they understand the importance of the issue we're facing. If they can properly muster a military response, we ought not have any need to worry.”

Huh, you were sort of expecting her to advocate rushing off to close the gate, citing something about a moral duty to society.

Chrys folds her arms in front of her chest. “Though it displeases me to flee from a battle, I feel in this case we must. I would still like to at least assist the Varistha or the Shah, whomsoever we inform, in their attempts to close the portal.”

Once Chrys has said her piece, Profectus clears his throat to speak. “I'm with Chrys on this. We shouldn't just tell the higher ups and run off.” You're honestly shocked. You're about to ask where the sudden sense of civic duty comes from but he stops you. “I know, I know. I'm probably the last guy to go sticking his neck out. It's just, I don't know. I've got this vague inkling of a memory. This... idea squirming through the back of my head that I just can't grasp. I just get the feeling it would be a bad idea to leave the issue unresolved.”

You suppose that's reasonable. You hear Skull Kid's hesitant voice begin to filter uncertainly through the brooches. {God, this is so weird. Uhh... alright, so. Eldritch monstrosities, right?} What on Earth does eldritch mean? {I've read my fair share of horror novels and watched enough movies to know facing up against that sorta thing is a bad idea. I say we charge in, snatch anything worth taking, and then sail off into the sunset.}

Fulvia concludes the discussion. {It seems as though we're three in favor of telling the authorities and cutting our losses, two in favor of telling the authorities and one in favor of grabbing anything of value and then running away.}

Skull Kid protest lightly. {Well shit, when you put it that way I sound pretty cutthroat.}
(2/3)
>>
“Well then! By simple majority rule, we'll tell the Varistha and then get on with our lives, yes?” Darzi nods her head firmly in agreement, while Profectus and Chrys seem less enthusiastic. You feel a sting on your leg and flinch, glancing down to see a small vine has formed itself into an arrow pointed towards the temple. Seems the Varistha heard you...

You sigh, casting your eyes towards the waterfall cascading down the side of the mountain, and the crevice in the cliff face it stems from. The temple lies in there, though it's barely visible in the early morning light. You begin the trek up the hill to the walled fortress at the top. “Well, come on then. Lets get this over with.”

Your companions follow behind after a moment's hesitation, and the four of you make the hike without issue. You're greeted at the top by an open gateway devoid of any guards. This would be mildly concerning, was there not an army milling about on the other side of the gate. Pleasant chatter, along with the delightful smells of cooking food and wood smoke seem to pervade the area. Seems the camp is only just beginning to wake up.

You make your way through the campsite, a few men calling out to Darzi in greeting. She waves back to them cheerily enough. Presumably they're soldiers she spoke with when the army first arrived. You slip quietly inside the fortress, the guards out front not bothering to stop you, and make your way to the sitting room where the floor hatch lies. It sits open, waiting for you. Hesitantly, you climb down the rope ladder and find yourself on a surprisingly well lit pathway, the halls for once illuminated by torches you don't recall being there.

You feel like you're walking willfully into a trap. However, you see little other recourse. Especially after the hatch shuts behind you, sealing you in. Nowhere to go but forward.

You continue the trek towards the temple, but before you reach the gardens the lights wink out. You're submerged in darkness, momentarily blinded. However, a moment later a different pathway is illuminated. It's the right path, the pathway you've always avoided. The torches lead you onwards, around a bend. Into the unknown.

You cast a worried glance into the darkness that you know will lead you to the gardens. The torchlight has blinded you, making the dark seem absolute. Almost solid. It's with more than a little reluctance that you ultimately turn towards the right fork and begin your march down the well-lit tunnel.

Where as you and your companions could usually walk two or even three abreast in the main tunnel, this one quickly narrows until at several points you're forced to squeeze sideways through a glorified crack in the wall. After a few hundred feet any semblance of regularity and order has been lost. It's all uneven flooring and rough, jagged walls. As if they were only picked out yesterday and hastily done at that.

The humidity rises steadily as you march your way down the tunnel, as does the temperature. You're able to keep yourself cool easily enough, as is Darzi; Profectus and Chrys are sweating terribly by the time you finally reach a small doorway no taller than your chest and barely wide enough to fit your shoulders through. It's sealed tightly, the wood swollen to the point that no crack exist between the wooden frame and the door itself. You'd think this would mean it would be easy to simply kick in, but you put your weight against it and find it won't even budge.

You try channeling a touch of vys into the door, but nothing results from the attempt. You glare at the nearest outcropping of moss in the hopes that the Varistha will take pity on you and simply open the door, but he seems unwilling.

I have to leave, but here is what I propose we do, at least if nothing radically different happens:
We tell the Varistha everything (again), including a detailed description of the aghtaki nature vatis. Depending on the Varistha's advice, we may tell Kadir afterwards, condole him to the loss of his father, give him the Shah's ring and congratulate him to Shahdom. Depending on his mood, we ask that our banishment be lifted so we can visit our family (and we need written proof for that, since he can't tell anybody when he's dead).
If an expedition to the island is done, we will accompany it. On the island we will go full loot. And somehow we and Kadir will still be on the island when the timer runs out, probably Kadir doing something stupid and being killed by a void monster (which we brought to the world, thus fulfilling the prophecy). -> profit

You place a hand against the door, palm pressed firmly into the wood. As you begin to channel magic, extracting the excess moisture from the swollen door, droplets of water begin to slide around your fingers, across the back of your hand, and up your arm.

What starts as a trickle quickly turns into a stream, and then a flood. Before you even realize it your entire arm is coated in a thick layer of water, clinging to it as if the sleeve of a garment. Once the door has shrunk to the point that you think you'll be able to open it, you let the spell drop and the water pours off of you, cascading to the floor. You grab hold of the rusted iron handle and jerk, the door sliding open without issue.

The door opened, you find yourself stepping into an expansive chamber. Your eye is immediately drawn to the levitating stone at the center of the room, blue carvings swirling elegantly around its base. More stones seem to slowly circle above it, suspended in mid air. The stone itself sits above a small platform with obviously magically carved stairs resting to either side, it reminds you in some ways of an altar. The rest of the chamber is filled with a clean, sparkling, blue pool of water.

The ceiling opens up into what appears to be a forest of some sort, morning light streaming through the hole in the ceiling and casting an odd glow over the chamber. Thick vines hang down from above, like drapery framing the scene before you. The remnants of some sort of structure lay scattered around the area, but it's long since shattered and whatever carvings and paintings once adorned its surface have been washed away by time. You feel an overwhelming sense of calm, stepping into this place. As if all will be right with the world so long as you remain here.

The Varistha stands at the center of the room, his hand placed affectionately on the stone before him. His posture is slouched and his eyes framed by heavy bags. He appears world weary and tired, but in a strange way determined. As you step into the room he motions you forward with a shaking hand. “Come on then, Mikhael. Up here. I've need of your youthful vigor.”

I don't mean replacing a body part that's missing like we did fr that solider. As we were told, the person Ego needs to believe that that IS a part of them. Ergo, if the person genuine believes they have an arm protruding from their stomach and we attempt to grow it...

>>35700537
LAs I said above, if how it was explained to us, in that it helps IMMENSELY to have the person aware, AND not view the injury as a part of themselves, we can heal it. The scar tissue on Darzi? That is how healing naturally works. Yet we came along and completely mopped the floor with natural and made all but her forearms return to what it was before the burns.

Exactly my point, The fact that her mind didn't perceive the scars as a natural part of her body is what allowed us to heal them so thoroughly. Just like with the solider from the other reality, He was still in shock over the fact that he'd lost his leg, he hadn't come to accept that he'd live life without it forever more. And thus, were able to restore it.

You're more than a little hesitant, so you pause at the door. “I'm afraid I'll need an explanation before I do anything, Varistha.” The crystal pulses as you speak, seeming to throb with every syllable. It's unsettling how... organic it seems. As if it's alive. Almost like a still beating heart, ripped out of whatever creature it originated from.

The Varistha lets out a long, rattling sigh. “I'd hoped you wouldn't, but I suppose it's fair. Considering the demands I'm forced to make.” He leans more heavily against the stone, mumbling something under his breath. You think he's whispering to it. After several minutes of a seeming back and forth the Varistha finally turns his attention back to you. “My lifespan is natural, Mik. We do not die. Not simply due to being old, that is. It is my sanity which I've been forced to connive and cheat and steal to sustain.”

You really don't like where this is going, but you force yourself to ask anyway. “How have you done it? How have you kept yourself from losing your grip on reality and forcing your colleagues to put an end to you?”

He lets out a harsh bark of laughter. “My colleagues wouldn't be able to kill me. Not unless they banded together, each and every one. All of the elements leap to my beck and call. My catalog of effects and metamagics is more extensive than that of any other living vatis. I may as well be akin to a god.” He winces. “Ahh, well. I shouldn't say that. Blasphemy is hardly befitting a religious leader.” He shakes his head. “I sustain myself through my pact with the spirit of this land. Powerful, and ancient beyond belief. It is through it, through him, that I manage to salvage my mind.”

He pushes himself away from the hovering stone, straightening himself up to the best of his ability. “The reason I called you here is thus, Mikhael. I know about the portal you've opened to the void, and I know you intend to ask me to step in and close it. I would be glad to, under normal circumstances. I would feel it my duty to Pani to end a threat on this scale. However, I am an old man. I've lived far longer than I should have allowed myself. My sanity has grown increasingly fragile as the years passed, and I fear that a confrontation with the void will finally be enough to break me. I came here seeking to enhance my mental fortitude beyond what simple metal magic would allow me, and increase my power beyond the bounds of mortal vatis. Unfortunately, the spirit ask a price to steep for me to pay. It ask for my memories. The last vestiges of the man I once was. I ask you, as the one responsible for this incident, to pay the price in my place.”

Before you can respond, he holds up a hand to give you pause. “Before you ask, the price you must pay will likely not be the same as mine. In the past the spirit has asked me for a portion of my power, a year of my health, the life of a friend, and for many things besides.”

Darzi opens her mouth to protest, but her voice comes out as a dry rasp. Chryssa looks tenses as if to pounce. Cracks slowly spiderweb across Profectus' arm, the appendage ready to burst apart at a moment's notice. His control has improved significantly. Unfortunately, the rest of your party is absent and you're doubtful the four of you could take on the Varistha, even as weakened as he currently seems.

Having a vatis like him around as powerful as he is without his memories is basically a death sentence to the entire region. I feel like the spirit isn't an innocent thing in this regard, it's like its been keeping the Varistha alive specifically as an opportunity to cause trouble while he feeds it stuff and then blow up with the consequences of him now being unable to pay the tithe.
In combination with the timing of the void messenger on the Shahs death I feel like these old spirits are cooking up a conspiracy.

SOON?
>>
You take a few steps closer, pausing with your feet at the edge of the pool. “If I won't have to pay the same price as you, what price will I have to pay?”

The Varistha shrugs his shoulders. “The only way to find out is to touch the stone. I know, perhaps not the most tantalizing offer considering what I've told you. I assure you that the spirit will not act without your permission. Should you decide the price is too great, or should you feel the need for more time to think things over, you may simply remove your hand from the stone.”

He steps away from the levitating hunk of rock, motioning to the place on the altar he was just standing in. You step into the water, half expecting it to lock your foot in ice and drag you to the altar to be sacrificed. Nothing of the sort happens. In fact, nothing at all happens. You walk the rest of the way to the altar with slightly more confidence, though you still feel like a caged animal. The desire to bolt for the door is almost overpowering.

You place your hand gently against the stone and find yourself drawn inside of it. The world fading to naught but pitch black. For a moment, you believe yourself to be in the void. However, a pale light slowly creeps over the world. You find yourself enveloped by dull, neutral colors. Occasionally a vein of red or blue or purple will burst to life above or around you, shooting through the 'walls' of this place, but it's a rare occurrence.

A voice enters your head unbidden. It's deep, rumbling, and carries with it a sense of impossible age. A voice that has seen the dawn of time. {Hmmmm... a mind, fragmented. Contested by powers greater than it. Fought over by petty warlords.} There is a long pause, and for a moment you think yourself forgotten. Just as you begin to wonder whether or not you're cursed to drift weightlessly in this grey void for eternity, the voice rumbles forth once more. {I want no part in that.}

(1/2)
>>
Another pause, shorter this time, before the voice speaks. {An artifact, a portal to the void. Guarded by an Elder. Linked to the Three.} The entire chamber seems to rumble, very briefly, before the voice speaks. {More trouble than it's worth.}

There is a pause, but it's insignificant compared to the previous two. {Ahhh, but what's this? Within the artifact, a heart. A dragon's phylactery. My my, the applications.} Bolts of red, purple, green, and yellow seem to cover your surroundings. Your world explodes into light and color as that voice rumbles through the back of your head. {I'll take it, a fair deal for a valiant death!}

I also want to go back outside to think things through a bit, talk to the Varistha and Ricky about things, as well as our party(unhelpful as they will be, they deserve it). We know he wants the heart. He already let slip that it's useful for multiple things. We got him by the greed-balls.

He can deal straight with us, and we'll deal straight with him. We've a reference, if he needs it.

Pfft, try to fake us out with the old "Denigrate two things, try to be vaguely interested in the third thing" bullshit. HE WANTS THE HEART.

Let's not fuck around. He gives us something directly that we can use to fix our fuck-up (and that we therefore get to keep) and we'll give him the Dragon's heart.

Otherwise, he can have the Varisathra's memories and he can get in the fucking cloak after

I think Chaotic Neutral/Lawful Evil, what with them apparently having some relation to the Void, which has been shown to contain creatures whose only purpose is to kill. But they also just want to be entertained.
I agree with anon who mentioned it though, we get nothing out of this deal, the portal would eventually solve itself anyway, and giving the phylactery of a god-like being to another god-like being without even having the exact terms stated seems to be a tad more STUPID than I'd like to think Mik is.

Damn straight. I mean, what, does he say out loud everything he thinks? What kind of chump does he think we are.

We're okay with letting the big V. lose his memories, or hell, even just letting the void-hole close on it's own. The god? Is not our only option here. Just the easiest one.

Hell, we already got something out of this exchange since we now know that the heart is. We can tell the Vistratha that the spirit wanted something even more dangerous than the void hole, since the goddamn Dragons don't apparently vanish, and that we couldn't risk that.

Also, that he probably shouldn't make any more deals with it, and we'll help him find an alternate way because fuck this tricky bitch.

Hey, so far we've actually had good results dealing with them.

They're just slippery bastards we gotta out-haggle.
>>
>>35701895
I don't know, I don't think Don is willing to cheat on Clairesy at this point in time.
>>
>>35701906
>>35701917
Here's to hoping we even have a chance in hell of haggling with it.
>>
>>35701917
You do realize we sacrificed a 1000-years-tormented soul to one in exchange for a bit of martial arts and enchanting basics? And that we also give him a whole lot more power through this? And that many of our companions almost died getting the core?

Yeah we gotta haggle better.

I was raised Mormon, before my parents divorced and both married Jews. I have… seen things you people wouldn't believe… Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those… moments… will be lost in time, like [small cough] tears… in… rain.

Unless you're willing to pay a small viewers fee, and another one for licensing, and donate 10% of any profits gained by the re-telling of said stories.

Yeah, but it ended well for US. Also for the basics of a lost art that's massively OP? Son, do you not understand what Enchanting is? Because of that, we are the world's current foremost expert in it. Also, we got actual understanding of it, not just a bunch of gibberish we can't use.

But you raise a good point. The spirit this time should give us more info on enchanting.
>>
>>35701954
A massively OP art that we will never get to use because Soma hasn't revamped the system.
>>
>>35701934
Tormented Soul? The Core willingly gave itself over to the corruption. That thing wasn't tormented in the slightest. It knew what it was about and said as much.

As for what we got in return? Enchanting is an art that thus far, no one we've met knows ANYTHING about. Including Mister Five-time GM over here. We have the ability to produce Gates to other worlds if we so choose, The ability to produce enchanted artifacts like the ones we rely on HEAVILY.

And you think we lost out on that trade? We jewed the FUCK out of that spirit.

I'm 100% sure there are enchanting masters around, they are just simply too insane to not seclude themselves in the mountains.
It has ended well for us SO FAR. We don't know what the spirit will do next. We also had to do thata whole thing with purifying Fulvia and getting her angry at us and save Chrys from certain death.
>>
>>35701951
thus started the new subquest of searching a strong opponent to haggle with, like the dice guys in the Witcher, we've already beaten Sadik and Ghada so we should be at vatis/expert level of haggle magic.

Dude, it was written into her wiring to want the sludge, and did you not notice the obvious undertone of insanity and loneliness making her do it? Remember how she said she just wanted to protect her children and how she kept wrecking bots? It was messing with her mind. We also had the possibility of just killing the corruption in her and possibly getting another Fulvia, except this one was made so she can grow organically, like a real mind can, Fulvia is hardwired to her current mental state(not like meotions, but capabilites and structure).

>>35701988
Funnily enough that is what Enchanting eventually leads to.
>>
>>35702002
I think we knocked some stuff loose in Fulvia, though. Also, she has a sekrit identitty locked up inside her that we're going to have to FRIENDSHIP! out of her what that's all about.
