What does everyone else view the races as, for racial bonus's and maybe classes?

Beastmen already have the totem warrior and shifter class.

Majin is kinda a grab bag.

Elves seem to either be nomad types or forest types. 3 flavors.

Dwarves are builders, craftsman plain and simple. Maybe a specific craftsman class for the dwarves and maybe a specific defender/hold the line type?

Humans seem to be both city and empire builders.

Dwarven Craftsmanship- whenever a dwarf crafts a weapon, accessory or armor, roll Dexterity vs a DC of 60 until you fail or hit 6 successes. Any success is a card slot for those items. 6 successes and one or more critical success rolls, bumps it up in quality by one degree

beastmen somehow ended with a lot of things
special jobs, the environmental pressure passive, and the ability to re summon their summons when they wear off or are destroyed.

Maybe i will trim them down a little, or should I just bump the others?

As for Majin, I think squeezing 2 more points of damage out of each MP used for a spell marks them as the best wizards and healers, but its not THAT strong since other races can catch up with the magiv bullet spell trick

Elves are gonna get +5% critical chance, and maybe something else. To go with funny, they could get an app bonus, so they really are everyone's favorite slavegirls/dancers... how about "theres no male elves, they must mate with males from other races"?

Orcs... uhmm... I think that like succubi, for now, they count as monsters. But as for passive, I think +2 str/con per class level is fine

Bump up the others, make each race more distinct.

Probably another race specific class tree for each, with semi hidden requirements is best.

yes i did, also a kizatch haderach.. i probably slaughtered that word but i read eune over a decade ago

the fremen had "wild benne gesserit" that were not part of the sisterhood, so it fits. I think probably a mix of monk to show their prana bindu muscle control and fighting arts, and maybe dancer to show the intrigue bit would do, but dancer has so many hybrid jobs already.

fits quite well, tho, since they were also very ready to use their sex as a weapon.

I even considered the sayyadina, the fremen priestesses

the kizatch haderach may be a noble that takes the fremen job, but not really sure onhow to properly represent it, and it steps into the toes of the prophet

anyway, i wonder about humans. Lets take a look at the other races and their specials, maybe it will give us context

Elves: +5% critical because of their sharp eyes and hand-eye coordination, maybe also a bonus to ranged attacks? the "they're all female" was just a joke but would be good for the "our elves are different trope" and dont google it, it will take you to tvtropes and then we wont see you until the next thread. It basically just means that pretty much every fantasy author nowadays tries to make his/her own elves distinct and special to show how creative they are, the hacks

dwarves are GOOD at crafting. I think we all agree there. Maybe a special heavy infantry job tree? originally i was gonna make the dreadnought dwarf-only, for example

*Engineer*
Humans have been city builders for generations. While the Dwarves are renown for their craftsmanship with stone and metal, elves with wood and plants, Humans are renown for throwing up permanent homes and cities in a very short amount of time. Human Engineering allowed for the ancient roads of the <Old empire name here> and the grand aquaducts and sewers that allow for the largest of human cities such as <insert huge city name here>.

Requirements : Build by hand a permanent structure in the wilderness. This can be a 1 room log cabin, a wooden watch tower, camp walls. This structure must be capable of standing on it's own for 1 year unattended, or for 10 years attended. You must do this without using the craftsman series craft abilities.

about making it human only... i dont know. The Ginaz swordmaster, btw, is also out of DUNE. When they had their Terminator/skynet apocalypsis in the dune universe thousands of years before the books, thanks to the shields, the machines couldnt shoot them, but they were stillmachines, inhumanly fast and dextrous, so they were WAY better swordmaster than the humans until the humans came up with the ginaz swordmasters that were a super school of swordmanship with which humans were able to out-fight the robots.

So, since DUNE is about human renaissance and the unlimited human potential, I thought about making Ginaz swordmaster a human-only job. Im still debating it.

Also, ive been thinking for a while that the HP/level is really not very relevant at all on t2 and later jobs. It is for t1 jobs so you dont get killed by 1 poke of a sword when you are level 1, but later on, you eally care more about con bonus than class/job hp bonus.

Harvest isint bad, maybe give it a DC of 50 on a dex check to get [good] quality materials and 70+ for [fine]. Under 50 you get [poor].

It needs to deplete the area to keep you from just spamming it forever for free, and raises the huams fame as "destroyers of nature" and such. Feels a bit clichéd, tho

Construct... maybe the things you build get better and bigger with more engineers helping you? a single engineer could build a non-moving, permanent golem/guardian in a non-dungeon area and a small shelter, maybe?

Construct, probably give a mana requirement for the size. Bigger stuff needs more mana and engineers of course, if you don't have an insane mana pool.

Higher tier class can be a siege engineer, let them create automated weapons in combat.

I am thinking make humans have more prolonged stamina. That is, other races are more "burst" in their power.
This really helps humans when fielding armies. An orc is stronger and an elf is more nimble, but both need to rest more often while human armies just keep marching and need less rest and recuperation. This also affects prolonged fights.

Or... how about attaching a caloric cost to what the other races can do? Human populations simply eat a lot less food, this means that a human city has more people per farm. Also this could affect how long they can go without starving / dehydrating. Which is critical for desert scenarios but meaningless for eldric's quest. For commoners, it also leaves them with more disposable income compared to orcs/elves/beastmen/demons.

Or "highly social". boost to charisma (not appearance) for humans. We got them silver tongues.

Maybe, something that has to be trained. For example it would be something the army would purposely train up. The ability to quickly create field works for defense. The army would train some troops to be engineers to form a division and keep them employed in the down time, creating fresh water, sewers, defenses.

So likely larger towns would have a guild that trains them and any army school would do the same.

That works fine. Only issue is that it makes a lot of the chivalry less important, as it is one of the nobles main melee branches.

what, they practice that method of sleep that lets you sleep only 2 hours a day? i remember reading about that

when you sleep, you really only get 1.5 hours of REM sleep which is the real rest phase of your sleep. If you set your alarm clock to wake you up in 1/2 hour and sleep every 5 hours, after a few days your brain gives up and starts jumping straight into REM sleep so you get rest.

Since you are actually sleeping 2 hours a day, that means you get MORE of that nice REM sleep than normal people do so even tho you sleep less, you actually get MORE rest.

Speaking of elli and mom, we need to spend some time and get all their starter jobs unlocked. Elli's slave jobs are easy enough, but for her nomad stuff and all of mom's stuff, I was thinking we could add them to our party, tell them to hang out near a temple and then enter a dungeon.

We should be able to solo floor 20 or so with ease, so we'd go down and just keep killing shit. Have the communication helm so they could tell us when they reach level 10 and have to talk to the priest to unlock the next job. We could probably get all their starter jobs to 10 in a day.

We really do need an equipment upgrade, and our stats are so high that a shield isn't really necessary anymore.

Once grumnir gets all his t1 jobs to 20, and artisan and smith to 10 (I assume he already has artisan 10 if he switched to smith), he'll have 500+ dex, so his craft rolls will succed on a 10 or higher. That's pretty good odds for a full 6 slots, and if he crits we get legendary items.

Abyssmal is decent, it gives +25% damage against bosses, 50% with kobold. So is vanberk, it gives 5% chance on hit to get 2 rounds of autocrit, 10% with kobold.

Those actually work with our stats. Almost everything else gives tiny bonuses that are functionally inconequential when compared to what we already have. I just want them out of our inventory and actually doing something, however minor it is.

I also agree with the anon from last thread that stated we are way overpowered, so cards that give, say, +X dex would be pretty serious thing for other adventurers but are not a big deal to eldrik because he is broken.
The solution is to use cards that are suitable for his build (because that would be like dad saying the mana stealing cards suck because he is a fighter and doesn't use mana)

Someone mentioned before, but immunities to status effects are probably the most desirable thing for eldrik.

also, +50% vs bosses is actually pretty awesome. The dungeon boss we fought was a horrifically tough battle, potentially, but was killed in the first round because we and okaba both blasted it with dragon force (which we can only use once every 12 hours and cripples our magic for the downtime).
If it was just us there, we wouldn't be able to do that. so a +50% vs bosses item would have been very welcome. in fact, for professional adventurers, it is useful for all of them to carry such an item as a secondary weapon.

There are 6 slots for weapon, 6 slots for shield.

36 accessory slots
36 armor slots.

We will have runic 6 slot armor for ourselves and friends, eventually.

So a quality set that is 4 slots, we have it space.

The thing about those two, is that they are limited in quantity, if I am counting right. Fremen and Fedyakin teach us together a grand total of 2 blade techniques. Meaning we can use it twice per combat. If a fight drags out against something with continuous automatic debuffing (eg, an enemy boss dancer with adds) then run out.
Or if we are facing a whole group of enemies which can each apply it.
Also, as another anon said. Eldrik is the only scion around for the foreseeable future.

I like this better than attributes, for one thing, attributes affect a LOT of things.
for another it lets you have differences.
Dwarves can be more hardy against poison, humans have more stamina for long marches. Both would be a con bonus if it was attribute bonus, but as it is a specific thing instead, that lets you have more specificity.

The best thing to introduce are minor things, and it increases the chance if it makes the QM laugh or smile on it.

We may of been a chem engineer, but we need to remember the rules of this world are different. We are also only 9 years old. Granted a genius 9 year old who does dungeons when he is bored but still.

I was said this game world, guns would fall into the normal damage range. We go ahead and create a fancy rifle that fires 50 cal BMG, and it does 35 damage a shot, making it a runic weapon. We make a full auto SMG and find out it just does 25 damage in a burst.

If we want cannons or things like that, when we are shipped of to our grandfathers, we could likely make them as jumbo wands that look like cannons, that use mana crystals as power to fire 20 mana fireballs that use the gunners intelligence and spell tricks.

They may already exist.

I want to do more also, but we have to remember we want to avoid things that have a strong negative effect on the world. Staying away from weapons until we are older is a good idea.

I want to make central Air and heat, in our new large home using Cold Crystals + venting + air magic to move the air like a fan. Once we get it right, we just sell the design for some gold and a small cut on the business and let someone else make more money on it.

We could likely create continual motion machines using magic and use that instead of steam engines. Of course creating anything like that with enchanting would take a few attempts but once we do, we will be able to do whatever we want with it.

Introducing foods is good, the same with childrens toys and any organized sports also. Go buy some leather, make a football (soccer) and introduce that as a sport.

I feel like introducing this world to chemical warfare will have horrible consequences

How does food increase your chance to find magic items? your chance for those items to have a specific magic trait?

I want to stay away from exp bonuses since it makes a mess of calculating exp afterwards

What I have in mind right now is that orcs add their cook level to the level of the ingredients so a better cook can do more with shittier ingredients

I don't think food needs to give special buffs
you eat because its delicious, and fun, and you need it to live.

Cooking might not be directly awesome in combat, but it could be used to extend the menu and thus increase population..

Example, the Yukka plant is toxic, containing cynide. it is also the most common staple food in the world, surpassing rice, potatoes, corn, and wheet.
To eat it, humans must first prepare it carefully to remove the cynide.
It grows well in low water conditions and is primarily consumed in africa.

So, orcs can make monsters that normally don't drop it (ex: kobold, rat, etc), also drop food items (kobold meat) for orcs. but it will make you sick (debuff). orc cooking can remove the debuffs and make it decent enough food to eat. Orcs themselves might also be reliant to debuffs from eating bad food
As a result, orc population can thrive where others would starve

Well, I would throw in regen buffs probably. A lot of the MMO buffs work best when everything is automatically calculated. Being sated with great food will speed up mental and physical regeneration.

After combat you regenerate 10/20/30/40/50/60/70 of your nightly mana or health.

It will let people go deeper, but they will still hit a wall when the combats get too tough and they just want to end it. Besides most people would likely do with good/high quality food.

That works. It's basically what we do anyways. The animals, they are bigger, faster, stronger, but compared to us they are uncoordinated.

It also happens a lot in sci-fi. The weak, dumb humie is quick on his feet in the wits department and comes at ya sideways. Like that scene in that Star Trek movie. Adding the cook level to the ingredients, you get better food with lower quality ingredients

Sure, normal food is neccessary, but the Cook Job can make foodstuff that give you a small bonus that lasts for a couple of hours

Orcs make great food, and their [Well Fed] bonus can last several hours instead of just two. That is why orcs thrive with crap resources

So, normal food prepared at home by you or Elli is just a normal meal. But food prepared by a [Cook] gives you a small bonus

Im thinking maybe its a "or" type of thing. You can for example make a fruit salat that gives +10 to int for 2 hours, or that can feed 10 people, where a normal person can grab the same fruits and just make a tasty dessert for after lunch

Very few people would have singers in the group, noble only and villages/nomads having food would be important. We can take a minute out of combat, put Lyanna and Eldric on singer, and regen every ones mana quick. Almost no other groups can do that.

Okaba gets up a little before sunrise. To be honest, he is used to getting up in order to gather the moondew from his night trap. He briefly wonders why only the blue moon's light can be collected in this manner.

Obviously, it is a rare trait. The world has five moons, thus it is either not a natural trait, or there is some other factor at work here. Well, there's not much time for idle thought right now. He needs to get the moondew into a proper storage before the sun comes up, so he pours it into a small vial of opaque crystal and stores it away into his small strongbox.

It's not that he's storing valuables on it. Aura takes care of those for him. It's that he's storing ingredients and components that he doesn't want to wander about, for whatever reason.

In this case, moondew dissapears under sunlight, and he still can't figure out why it counts as such while stored in an item box.

Well, now that is is safely away, he stretches and flexes his wings for a bit, then twists around his back before moving into the shower.

Aura is still sleeping. At least she's sleeping in bed. He never knows if she's going to show next to him or at the feet of the bed in the mornings.

"Good morning, love" ~he says to the sleeping succubii while going into the bathroom
